posting some old Lyrr anatomy thoughts from my drafts, a bit of body horror under the cut

Like i already said in the previous post, in her "physical" form, Lyrr builds her body out of whatever's accessible, but one thing is always present, remaining unchanged in every form: her inner core. Being a very essense of "all things Lyrr" (and also a vessel of their energy), it doesn't have a consistent shape, constantly twitching, pulsing and stretching around inside of their hollow body, protected and well-hidden. The only direct contact it has with the outside world is through...surprisingly, Lyrr's mouth!

Her tongue, actually being the only part of her inner core that can interact with the surroundings and other beings "safely", can stretch up to 40 cm, or sometimes even longer, at the cost of getting slowly "burned" by the current dimension's "hostile" energy flow. Being a very important tool for their species, it is directly connected with the core itself, and also helps feeding on the energy of other beings, typically in a "licking the oozing blood essense off" fashion, but it doesn't necessary mean it's supposed to always stay positioned inside of their mouth. It sure is convenient for hunting and feeding, but being a lowkey eldritch, alien creature from a forgotten world, Lyrr is 100% capable of creating temporary wormhole-like openings on any part of her body to reach through them. It's just that hanging around in the certain world with creatures possessing certain anatomy traits encouraged Lyrr to slowly adapt to the world's main concepts (moving and bending her limbs in the same way as earth animals would, getting used to gravity, etc, etc...), and she does use it merely as a tongue for the majority of time. Doesn't mean she can't get creative with it tho...

Oh, and another fun fact: Her inner core oozes "poison". Well, not exactly a poison, but when in long direct contact with a live being's aura, it starts to dissolve it, making the energy flow more consistent and easing the feeding process. Kinda like how ticks and mosquitoes do. With the non-lethal feeding method, those ending up in her claws would feel a bit tingly, numb and gradually exhausted in the process of Lyrr nibbling at them, but if she's feeling extra generous (or really likes you for whatever reason), she may fiddle with the pain&pleasure centers in your brain.
