Cal has had a rough night. Ever since he discovered that one of his other alternates had been thinking so lowly of him that he's been seen as nothing more than a washed-up fawn with filed teeth, while he'd been under the impression that this version of himself liked him, Cal's spent his night alternating between walking, running, and being sick.

He's not entirely sure how or when he arrived at this alternate's door. If anything, this is the last place he should be after the night he's just suffered. What if it happens again?

Dearest Cal, you will not be losing me. If you were going to, you would have a long time ago.

He remembers when this was said to him. He remembers how relieved he'd felt after hearing those words, and he still believes them. This alternate hasn't given any indication that he's false. Fake. Like the one he's just cut ties with.

That's why, despite his fear of going through it all over again...Cal does lift a stained hand to knock on the other's door. Shave and a haircut—

"I'm worried is all. You said we needed to ease into this, and I've gotten carried away once or twice. I'm doing my best to be slow; to keep my damned hands to myself; to keep myself from chasing you away.

"It should be enough to simply be in the same room with you. To enjoy your presence. And most of the time it is. But...I've found that I can be a rather greedy individual. I want more. And the last time I let myself go, I think I disturbed you -- at least a little bit.

"I never apologized. I...panicked and left fairly quickly. I'm sorry for both of those things."

"Well. Now the surprise is out of the bag, I suppose."
