i hope it's okay to tell you my thoughts on chapter 4 here: i've read chapter 4 so many times over the past few days and oh my god!!!!!!! your writing never disappoints. the way their relationship has been evolving has been so well done. jingliu beginning to trust ruan mei, sharing her wants and needs, now knowing she has someone who comes back for her, and also ruan mei who has grown to care about jingliu in her own way and not as a test subject anymore, feeling a bit possessive over jingliu when she used to be indifferent to baiheng: seeing all these aspects in chapter 4 was such a treat. i loved the last part of the chapter, particularly jingliu growing forget-me-nots, ruan mei apologizing and kissing her while holding her heart in her hands, "live for me" RAAAAHHHHH so good!!!!!!! i'm really looking forward to the last chapter, i feel like they've reached a new level of trust with each other after the ending so im curious about the aftermath and how the fic will conclude :) i'm really not good at expressing my thoughts so all i can say is you are seriously so fucking talented like... AAAAHHHH chefs kiss. literally my most fav writer ever, i love ruanliu and this fic, i love all of your other works as well, if you ever published a novel i would not hesitate to buy, literally thank you so much for writing.

chapter 4 was a lot of the early ideas i had all coming to full fruition and culmination, and it's very encouraging hearing that it hit right for the readers. it's the climax of the story in a way, with chapter 5 wrapping up some loose ends and seeding a future for them. baiheng still one final card to play...
