kind of impressed that they didn't just go basically explicit about Kiwi/Nox being enby, but also showed mundane transphobia, those bigoted kids literally mocking ''diversity'' was so surprisingly direct

Is it actually yuri if the main couple don't break up before they even start dating?

Love how today's episode goes into the stigma of pop idols being at an older age and having children. I especially love how at the end, when Miiko comes clean about her true age and circumstances, her fanbase continues to support her, and they realise they have new reasons to appreciate her now.
I also think this episode really demonstrates how Miiko and Kano's mother are foils to each other. Both of them are involved in the idol industry in some way. Miiko has her shortcomings as a mother, but she's well aware of that and she strives to improve for the sake of her daughter, because at the end of the day, she loves Ariel with all her heart and she would do anything for her. Kano's mother on the other hand doesn't seem to have that unconditional love for her daughter. I'm sure we'll learn more about her relationship with Kano in future episodes, but we know that it's quite a rocky one.
I also think it's really cool to have a well-developed mother character who is more than just a mother, who has her own triumphs and struggles just like anyone else. Honestly, I didn't expect to ever see Miiko ever again, let alone see her be in the spotlight for an episode, but she's officially one of my favourite characters now.
Also it's just so sweet to see Mei and Ariel bond over their love for their oshis. It's so cute.
And the kiss from last episode was briefly acknowledged haha. Poor Kano, she looked so flustered!

People are already getting carried away with YoruKura and "canonical" gender identities and clearly did not watch the same episode as I did. It's more than clear that this character has some issues related to her gender identity but the show very explicitly did not have the character claim to be trans, even going so far as to that character explicitly denying that she was a trans guy
Is that character completely cis? No, certainly not. But it's shortsighted right now to be claiming loudly exactly what specific label we should be applying to her when we were decidedly not given one in the text. If we get more detail about this from other sources perhaps we can be more certain, and it's absolutely a trans-coded narrative, but we simply don't have a specific label to apply here! It's a bit abstract!

Took me a little while to watch the new Yorukura episode because I knew it was just gonna be painful as shit, and yeah, I was right. That episode is a punch to the gut in the best way possible.
Spoilers under the cut, of course – seriously, please go watch the episode before reading on.
It took long enough for this show to get into some real drama, but the wait was worth it. After spending the past 8 episodes introducing the girls and developing their relationships with each other, we have a major conflict where there's no clear-cut solution. Yeah, some of these characters are making terrible decisions, and Kano in particular is really letting her emotions rule her, but, like, they're teenagers, so it's appropriately melodramatic.
Speaking of Kano, after knowing why exactly she punched her groupmate, while I think her anger was completely justified, the act of violence was very much in the wrong and I appreciate the depth this adds to her character. The stricken look on her face immediately afterwards strongly indicates that the punch was done out of impulse. (Granted, poking around on someone else's phone without their consent wasn't exactly great either, but considering the notification she saw...)
I also love how the flashback adds context to when and how Kano first saw Mahiru's jellyfish mural and became so inspired by it. The argument near the end of the episode shows that the way her mother treated her left her with abandonment issues, and knowing that Mahiru chose to work with that same mother instead of JELEE... yeah that's gotta hurt. On the other hand, as both Kano and Kiui acknowledge earlier on, it is up to Mahiru what she wants to do and how she wants to advance her art career. She could certainly do with a better client than Kano's mum, but when will she find another grand opportunity like this? As she says herself, she's finally gained confidence in her art, so it's only logical that she pursues her next achievable goal when she can. Ultimately, Mahiru will have to choose between her friendship with Kano and a lucrative opportunity to advance her career, and, well, to say that that's a difficult choice has gotta be an understatement.
Probably my favourite episode so far. I'm excited to see how Episode 10 will top it.
