Boredly scrolling through his usual online forums, Sasuke’s eyes flicker to the side of his screen when a notification pops up. He’s got an IM, it seems. Opening Discord, he deflates slightly when he sees it’s from none other than Naruto. Now what does he want…?

Hey the carnival’s in town, you wanna go?

A dark brow perks. Carnival…? Isn’t that for kids? Giving his monitor a deadpan stare, he replies, Isn’t that something for 12 year olds?

Nah man, there’s some sick rides and junk food! C’mon just go with me for one night and get outta your house, dude!

Okay, now he’s full-on scowling. Get out of his house? What, like he’s a recluse or something? He just...likes his privacy! And all his hobbies are at home: his video games, guitar, computer...and their town is just...boring. Going out to do anything costs money, and he doesn’t have a job yet. He gets an allowance, sure, but not that much.

How much are tix?

There’s a pause as Naruto seems to look it up. Uhhh 15 I think? Not that bad!

Sasuke just rolls his eyes. Okay fine, I’ll go. But if it’s boring I’m coming home.

Yeahhh, okay! I promise you won’t get bored, it’s gonna be awesome! :D We’ll go tomorrow, okay?

Snorting, Sasuke sends a one word agreement and closes the window, trying to find his place back on his other window. A carnival...well, he supposes there are worse ways to spend a Summer Friday night.

They arrange to just meet at the gate, and as usual...Naruto is late. Leaning nearby and trying not to look lame, Sasuke keeps hands in his pockets, looking over the crowds idly. It does seem pretty busy...maybe Naruto’s right about it being at least somewhat interesting. He can hear talking and screaming from some of the more intense rides. And of course the smells of sugar, fried food, and crowds of people fill the air. He can’t remember the last time he went to something like this. Probably back in elementary school, if he had to guess.

It’s a bit nostalgic.

“Hey, Sasuke!”

Dragging his eyes from the gate, he spies the blond at last. “About time you got here.”

“Sorry, was texting Sakura - she’s gonna meet us later!”

There’s an involuntary groan. Sakura is Naruto’s girlfriend...but up until they started dating a few months ago, she’d spent their entire lives chasing after Sasuke. And her affections were the last thing he wanted. Girls are just...obnoxious.

“Aw, c’mon - don’t be like that!”

“She’s gonna annoy the hell out of me.”

“Look, she’ll be so busy talkin’ to me, she won’t have any time to bug you! Can’t I just spend a little time with my best friend and my girlfriend?” Naruto scowls, folding his arms. “You gotta put all that behind you, Sasuke.”

“I will as soon as she does,” the Uchiha mutters in reply.

Making their way into the line, they pay the fee and get their wristbands, allowed through the turnstiles and into the carnival grounds.

...it seems a bit...bigger than when he was a kid. No longer is it just some kiddy rides, a petting zoo, and some food stands.

This is massive…!

Noting Sasuke’s gawking look, Naruto snickers. “Told ya it’s awesome!”

“...wow. Sure has changed.”

“I know, right? Whatcha wanna do first? Food, games, rides…?”

“Uh...games, I guess.” He skips the food and rides options for now - he’ll go on something crazy before he eats...otherwise he just might puke. Best to save that for later. For now, they’ll peruse the booths and see what’s worth playing...then they can hit up some rides.

They first have a head to head on a squirt gun course, Sasuke winning handily and earning a prize. He picks a blow-up hammer, amusing himself by whacking Naruto with it and grinning.

“Oi!”

“This is the treatment losers get,” Sasuke taunts, holding the thing away as Naruto makes to pop it.

“Stupid Sasuke and his stupid hammer...ooh!” Immediately distracted, the Uzumaki trots to a strange...tent? “Yooo, check this OUT! It’s a fortune teller booth!”

Sasuke doesn’t bother to censor a scoff. “What, you believe in that crap?”

“I dunno...but sometimes that stuff is like...creepy accurate, man! You wanna go in?”

“Uh...no thanks. You take a turn, and I’ll wait out here.”

“Aww...you’re no fun.” Sticking out his tongue, Naruto then lifts the flap and heads inside.

Shaking his head, Sasuke people-watches for a time. At least Sakura hasn’t shown up yet...he can have a bit more peace. Hopefully whoever’s telling those shoddy fortunes doesn’t mention a breakup in Naruto’s future…

Five minutes pass, and then ten...and then Sasuke starts to get annoyed. How long is this supposed to take? He’s just about ready to stick his head in and demand they go when Naruto emerges. He seems a bit...dazed.

“...you okay?”

“Dude...that lady knows her stuff.”

“Oh really?”

“Yeah, man...she knew, like...everything,” Naruto hushes. “It was spooky…!”

Sasuke rolls his eyes, then jolts as Naruto takes his shirt front. “Whoa, hey -!”

“You gotta try it, dude!”

“What? I’m not gonna -”

“Just try! Trust me, she’ll freak you out!”

Scoffing, Sasuke jerks out of Naruto’s grip. “All right, fine! Just...don’t go wandering off, okay? Be right back…” Scowling, he hands the blond his hammer and brushes aside the tent flap, heading inside.

It’s dark, lit only by a few candles, and...a glowing crystal ball in the center of a table. Huh...nice atmosphere. No wonder Naruto got so spooked - the kid’s terrified of ghosts, of course he’d believe in this kind of crap.

“Welcome…”

Looking up from the ball, he spies a woman emerging from the shadows at the edge of the ‘room’. She’s...not what he expects. She looks young, no more than his brother’s age, with white hair he’s going to assume is a wig. Big earrings dangle from her ears, grey eyes shining with some kind of mischief that matches her smile. “Please...sit.”

After a pause...he does as asked.

“So...what will you have me reveal? The fate of your career? The path of your heart? Where your luck lies?”

He almost rolls his eyes at her spiel. “What’d my friend pick?”

“I can’t reveal another’s fortune: that’s for them to decide to share.”

Ugh… “...all right, fine. Uh…” He has no idea about...any of those things, really. On a whim, he says, “...romance.” Sure, why not? Anything she tells him he’ll know is a crock that way.

...not that he’d believe anything else.

Rather than sit, she remains standing, planting a hand atop the ball. Mist swirls inside, the color shifting from a teal to a pale pink. The fortune teller’s head tilts as she considers it.

“...you shy from love. Unwanted affections have embittered you to the notion of true feelings. You find the opposite sex shallow and whimsical...where you crave stability and certainty.”

...huh. Okay. Well that’s...interesting. He doesn’t react, not wanting to give her anything to go off of.

“And yet...part of you craves someone to explore this part of yourself with...but not just anyone. You refuse to waste your time in fruitless ventures, but also know nothing is guaranteed. This duality frustrates you.”

His brow furrows just a hair.

“The eccentric clash with your down-to-earth nature. You wish for someone calm, yet sweet...soft, yet eager.”

Bringing up her other hand, the woman’s eyes close, appearing to concentrate. “...the one you seek is small of stature, simple of looks...but undeniably charming. Curves to your edges, soft spoken and yet...with a fiery heart when fed the proper coals. Eyes like the moon, hair like the night just before dawn. Just as one has sought you, she has sought another...your affections creating a whirling pool, a circular path where none are satisfied...until they look in the last place they expect: behind them…”

The tent seems to grow smaller, until the pair of them are pressed to the table. Shadows appear to loom from the edges, the only light the ball between them. A terrible weight settles in Sasuke’s chest. Something’s...something’s not right...

Her tone fades, and then eyes flutter open. “...she is nearer than you think,” she whispers, and then lets her hands retreat. Suddenly, the space expands, the light returns, and Sasuke finds he can breathe again.

What the hell was that…?!

That same cat-like, coy expression pulls at her features. “...that’s all I can see for now. Do with your knowing what you will...but be careful who you tell. The truth is a heavy burden…”

Watching her almost warily, Sasuke rises from his seat and slides out, walking backwards several paces as though expecting her to follow and drag him back inside.

“Sasuke!”

Nearly jumping out of his skin, Sasuke spins around to find Naruto...and Sakura, too. They both perk a brow at him.

“So? What’d she tell ya?” Naruto demands. “You look awfully spooked, Sasuke!”

“Tch...yeah right. She’s just creepy,” he retorts, arms folding...and trying to ward off a clammy feeling in his skin.

“Aww, you’re no fun…”

“You didn’t tell me yours.”

“Cuz she told me not to!”

“She told me that, too!”

“Uh...guys?” Sakura cocks a hip, hand on her waist. “...are you done…?”

“Oh, er...yeah, sorry,” Naruto quickly quips, redirecting his attention to his girlfriend. “What were you saying?”

“I was trying to introduce you to my friend,” the rosette sighs. “I dunno if you remember her: her dad pulled her out to be homeschooled, like...ten years ago. Apparently she’s coming back for our senior year!” A hand then gestures to a girl Sasuke hardly even noticed, her form is so unassuming.

But once he does realize her presence...he stiffens. She...she looks like…?

A bit shorter than Sakura, wearing baggy clothes despite the summer evening heat, her dark hair is up in a bun, a fringe and a few shorter lengths framing her heart-shaped face. Pale eyes are sheepish to match her smile, giving a shy wave. “Hi…”

“This is Hinata - you guys remember her?” Sakura offers.

“Uh...maybe…?” Naruto offers, itching his neck. “It’s been a while…”

Sasuke can’t place her...then again, she’s clearly a wallflower. He probably just never noticed her...especially with louder, more evident girls like Sakura and her friend Ino around. And what he’s far more concerned about now is that the more he looks...the more he sees that lines up with that weird woman’s fortune.

“...she is nearer than you think…”

“...Sasuke? Hellooo? Earth to Sasuke!”

Jolting, he looks up. “...huh?”

Arms folding, Sakura frowns at him. “...are you feeling okay?”

“Yeah...fine.”

“Maybe he needs to eat something! We haven’t gotten any food yet. Whatcha think, girls?”

“Yeah, sure...as long as it’s not too much. I’m watching my diet.”

Hinata just nods, going with the group’s flow as they meander toward the food stalls. Watching her from the corner of his eyes, Sasuke doesn’t know what to think. He doesn’t believe in the occult - he doesn’t! But this is...this is weird…

“Sasuke, right…?”

Stiffening as she addresses him, he nods.

“Sorry...I don’t, um - I don’t really remember you, either,” she offers with a soft laugh. “But Sakura talks about you a lot.”

“Yeah, she...she does that. Seems she should talk about Naruto more than me, though.”

At that, Hinata seems to...wilt. Almost as though disappointed…? “Yeah...she does…”

“Just as one has sought you, she has sought another...your affections creating a whirling pool, a circular path where none are satisfied...until they look in the last place they expect: behind them…”

...she likes Naruto, doesn’t she…? And he likes Sakura, who liked Sasuke, until she...turned around…

Okay, this is freaking him out…!

“Are you...sure you’re all right?” Concern knits her brow. “...you look awfully pale…”

“Just, uh...need some food in me,” he replies evasively. “I’ll be fine.”

She doesn’t look convinced, but nor does she argue, following as Naruto and Sakura get in line for some burgers.

Heart pounding, Sasuke takes a shaking breath. Okay...he’s letting this get to his head. It’s just...nonsense. It doesn’t mean anything. He’s reading into things too much, and making connections that aren’t really there!

...isn’t he?

...he’ll feel better after some food. He’ll be fine.

...so long as Naruto doesn’t put him on any rides after this.

I'm bisexual..if you didn't know, but I'm kind of moving out of wanting to be labeled. Its all a bunch of bullshit if I'm being honest. So anywho. I was scrolling on Twitter the other day and I saw that this girl apparently labeled herself as lesbian and is now dating a male. At first I got kind of offended and I can't even tell you why honestly because I don't know why. I mean she’s living her life right? But then I saw the negativity that came with it and maybe she doesn't know it yet or hasn't labeled herself as it yet, but people started talking about being bi. It wasn't my first time seeing something like this because people have negatively said stuff to me too about being a fake lesbian or whatever, but I just wanted to take a moment to let the bi people that are here advocate for what the fuck's going on in our community and for the others.. why do you feel like society erases being bisexual as a thing?

Ozzy: I saw that too, and it kind of made me upset because it’s literally no one’s business what you do, or what you don’t do sexually. Imagine if there were never any labels to begin with. She would’ve never been looked down upon. If people were never labeled as anything, there would be no room for people who think it’s okay to tell what’s the right way to do something. If we want that to end, we have to get rid of social norms.

Monse: i saw that too and i couldn't say that it made me upset but i was slightly confused at first. at same time though everybody realizes things at a different time in life. i personally feel as though society erases bisexuality because they don't believe or try to believe that people can actually like both genders. they think you're suppose to like one or the either and it confuses them. i have a guy but that doesn't take away from my sexuality because regardless of who i'll end up with in the long run i'll still have feelings and be attracted to either sex if i was to end up single. i think once people open their minds and realize what being bisexual actually is they would probably understand it more.

Randy: Well I don't label myself as Bisexual....I just say I'm a lover so I'm still going to speak on it. But that's like if a girl labels herself as straight but ends up with a woman, whats to say she's not in love with that woman? We're all humans and we change, we grow. We live where people say you can't have your cake and eat it too, well its my cake. You know? Most problem it seems that people have with closing off bisexuality is that oh I'm a girl and you're going to cheat on me with a guy and leave me or vice versa when if she was just lesbian who's to say she won't cheat on you with a another female and leave? I feel like it's an excuse to try and bash the other sex and force you to conform into a certain type and its shit.

Scorpio: when i saw the post i kinda just brushed it off only because that's her life and she's obviously happy so who am i to judge. what she's doing isn't causing any harm in my life. maybe she's trying something new we don't know. that's the thing about sexuality. it's not just something you can turn on or off. you can't fault her for having feelings for a guy.

Riley: I really do believe society creates these labels to divide people, not realizing that people can love who they want. I think the bisexuality label is often misconstrued for promiscuity. People think that if you can’t “choose” then you must be a hoe, and just want the attention from wherever you can get it. But that’s a toxic mindset, sexuality is fluid it changes. You might vibe with someone today who you don’t tomorrow and you don’t deserve to be judged for that. I always have been frustrated by people who were so worried about what other people were doing in their private time.

Danica: For the most part, I think just society as a general whole has a tendency to put people in boxes. And you can't check more than one. If you do there is obviously something.. Wrong. And it doesn't make any sense really because people are in a gradient, but as far as categorizing and things like that, it's been happening since...forever. With race, gender and of course sexuality. You check more than one box and we have to have a discussion apparently, when it's really love is love.

Ozzy: I think it starts with not putting a label on yourself to begin with. Don’t put a label on sexuality, especially if you know that it may leave room for people to judge, you know? I know there are people who label themselves a certain sexuality, and act another way. Is it due to the lack of education? Is it because they are just calling themselves what they think fits at the moment? It can be offensive to the people who do follow labels, I’m not apart of the LGBTQ community but I support it so much, and have educated myself.

Majesty: (perks up as she hears the topic before getting closer to her mic and shakes her head with a shrug) I honestly have no idea, it's like being bisexual you always have to validate your sexual orientation to people in the lgbtq community who could understand you. I think society can't grasp the concept that at the end of the day, it's all about attraction and intent. And that goes for every sexual preference.

Jocelyn: [listens to them and nods] social media always have something to say nothing good comes from it. I personally think that you love who you love. If you like women be proud of that don't let the closed mind of others discourage you. No one really has the right to judge you in the first place.

Kennedy: Yes! Yes! You guys are honestly all making me so happy right now because I can agree with something everyone said. I definitely feel like its your business who you like and what you do, but its also human nature to be in people's business. I don't know why its like that, but it is. Probably passed down from them nagging ass grandparents who got it from theirs. [chuckles softly] Plus social media makes it even worse. Jumping topics really quick, whew..can we talk about that article that dropped on that one gossip site? I mean we don't have to go into details, but how do you guys feel about stuff like that? Should we all just ignore it or take heed in what they're saying? It was talking hella smack about people and their relationships. Would you guys let what was said if something was said about you affect how you feel about your partner?

Randy: I mean it honestly depends on what they were involved in and I would be a stalker bitch that i can be and find out what's really going on, can I cuss on here? If not...my bad.

Monse: [chuckles at kennedy] we probably did get it from them but being nosy is human thing and sometimes we can’t help it but I agree with scorpio because happiness is all that matters in the end. but whew chile the ghetto, that’s what that gossip page is. being the type of person that i am. especially when it comes to my significant other then I’ll be lying if I said i wouldn’t let it affect us but at the same time it’s gone be something that we discuss and get to the bottom of because just leaving it in the air like that will probably only hurt later on down in the line. although we should never believe gossip but that’s one of those human things too.

Jocelyn: ignore it they want you to say something and if you do then that's how they know they got you. If i’m in a relationship and people have shit to say it's solely up to me and my partner to say something back or ignore and be the happy couple we destined to be. It's always the ones who never had a guy or girl in their life but yet has so much to say about you and yours girl bye.

Scorpio: since i'm in the career field that i'm in shit [covers her mouth] can we curse on here? [smiles] but things like that goes in one ear and out the other. you can't feed into that. people talk all the time. most of it i will ignore but there's a line and if it's crossed i will respond.

Majesty: I think that unless it involves you then it’s not really something that you have to pay that close attention to, it’s like a laugh and move on type deal. But if it does involve you then, ehhh...I would probably check in like “hey what they talking about” but that’s just if it’s serious. If it’s something petty then, yeah, I’m probably shrugging that off too

Danica: [laughs a bit] You know, it's funny you bring that up because I was thinking about it today. I suppose it's their job to "spill tea" But..it always makes me curious as to where the info they find comes from. And it seems like a lot of times, it's just to get something cooking, or stir the pot. I wouldn't have anything affect me if it was petty info, but of course I would want my partner to let me know what's going on. I don't want to be left in the dark.

Riley: I feel like what you read online is always too spicy to be the absolute truth. Blogs have said things about me that were fact, but then just assumed that my intent was something else. For example, I went to the doctors, so now I’m pregnant. Like no! I had the flu. But it’s for that reason that I don’t let what is said effect myself and potential partners. Yes, it may hurt my feelings in the moment, but I can’t let a masked culprit cause me to sacrifice happiness in my own relationship. Now if it’s something I was already thinking may have been going on and the blogs confirm, that might give me enough gall to ask my partner about it. But I never take things like that for fact. You can’t even confirm the source! [chuckles]

Ozzy: you should trust your partner enough to know what’s really up, but some of that stuff has some truth and you should be smart enough to at least ask your partner about it. that’s what i would do.

Monse: yeah i agree with ozzy, trust is a big factor in anything. but sometimes the things you here can be so outrageous and just off guard that you can't help but to question it. communication should always happen regardless though.

Danica: I agree with that for sure. At the end of the day, it's you--and that person-- and no one that's not supposed to be there. People can speculate but you know what's up in the long run..or at least you should.

Kennedy: [chuckles] Yes, you can curse. This is going straight to the interwebs and iTunes, but I agree. Sometimes you can kinda tell when stuff is bullshit, but like Riley said if you're already questioning something then I feel like its going to push you to want to talk about it with your partner and we know how much communication can make or break something. Everybody here single? Or what? My bad. I should have been asked that. A bunch of single people up here giving relationship advice and what not. [laughs softly]

Randy: I'm single by choice, ok? a lot of people can't handle my job so I stay single, but my advice be off the chain.

Ozzy: I’m definitely single and I haven’t been in a relationship in a very long time..and damn, I have no right to give anyone advice on anything. [laughs]

Majesty: I’m single as a pringle but I think giving any type of advice is just about having wisdom. Like just because you’re not in a relationship doesn’t mean you haven’t been and don’t know a lil Sumin Sumin. (begins to laugh) I know that wasn’t the topic but I hate when people say “well you’re single, you can’t give me advice” like damn without my advice your ass about to be single.

Scorpio: i'm single. i'm more so just riding the ride. i'm not pressed to be in a relationship and if i get in one then it happens.

Monse: no i'm not single [chuckles] but i think advice can be given by anyone because i'm sure we've all experienced something things in past relationships.

Jocelyn: I'm single. [chuckles] it's been a minute since i’ve been in one. I think it's alright to give advice you speaking on past experiences.

Danica: I’m Netflix and chilling by myself and it's also been quite a while since I've even been close to a relationship. [laughs as she nods in agreement to Monse] Yes, most definitely.

Riley: [laughs] I’m single and here to talk about sexuality. Cause me giving relationship advice is a dub.

Kennedy: [laughs] I'm just asking seeing where everybody is at. In no way do I think it has anything to do with giving relationship advice. Now if you suck at relationships and thats why you're single then you need to be on hush mode. [chuckles] Well everyone can still have an opinion. How do you guys feel about social media and being in a relationship? I know a lot of people think its negative and causes problems, but do you guys think there could be positive things that come from social media and your relationship? And if its so negative why do we continue to allow it to have that much of an impact?

Ozzy: Now social media can be a killer to people in relationships! Some people rather pay attention to likes, tweets and other random unimportant shit than their partner. On the other hand, I feel like social media should only see but so much of you and your partner. Woman crush Wednesdaying your lovely lady is totally fine, but telling the timeline your every move is toxic!

Randy: I feel like its only killer if you allow it to be.

Danica: A lot of the times I feel people use social media as either as a crutch, or a blind spot. For a lot of people, they show how perfect their relationship is on social media, getting all the hearts and like reacts in the world, but behind closed doors it's a whole different story. Or you're using to keep something together and make it it seem picture perfect. It's a fine like to walk sometimes I feel like, but you can't expose your whole life, or pretend things are sunshine and roses. A lot of people like to use as a facade and it shouldn't be..it can be great for a lot of reasons, but at the same time it can put stress on the wrong things, or blind people completely, when it should do neither. I agree with a lot of what Ozzy said.

Scorpio: it can be a killer when you're immature about it. just like what ozzy said all the posts about mcm and wcw is totally fine. but the moment you bash each other and wanna argue i think it's wrong. some things should be kept sacred.

Monse: i think that social media can only be a killer if you allow it to be. there's nothing wrong with social media and relationships because it's a free world with the freedom speech. most people have no problem showing off their partners and supporting them with whatever on social media. most negative things that happens with social media can be rightfully avoided

Majesty: I agree with Randy, if you’re being mature and handling your relationship like you should then social media shouldn’t be a problem. I feel like we give social media too much credit. We use it to validate each other, among other things and at the end of the day it really shouldn’t be like that. (chuckles) like the whole women crush Wednesday thing, I’m cool with it but I’ve had people get in my ass for not posting them but like...what should it matter. I’m not hiding the world from you or you from the world, I’m just not feeding into all that.

Riley: For myself and the anxiety I have, I try to pretend it’s not there. It’s not good for me at all, and I don’t know what good could come from it. If I post a picture I’ve gotta worry about who sees it and what they’ll think, if someone comments something crazy I’ll get all upset. And in the courtship phases it’s even worse. So I try to avoid it all around when I really like someone. For me, a person with anxiety, giving people easy access to my most personal connection with a person is dangerous. So I try to just stay away from it. But that doesn’t make me mad at those people who do choose to be public with their relationships on social. I actually think that’s adorable.

Randy: All in all a lot of people take this social media shit too serious and it not only affects relationships but friendships as well and it's just some childish unnecessary actions that take place. Like if the internet goes out while you're with the people you care about most, then what? You gonna be mad that you can't post a picture of all you guys on instagram, so? You're with the one you love enjoy it, social media is just online while they're right there. sometimes people do not get that and they let it control the one they're with, thats how they end up failing.

Ozzy: Do you guys know what grinds my gears about relationships on social media? The ones who put emojis over their partners or hide their faces. I think that’s an issue for me. It’s kind of a deal breaker. People make a lot of excuses about why they can’t post you or why they choose to hide you. Social media is big now. It’s important to me that my significant other makes it clear to people on social media they are in a relationship, because I instantly think they’re hiding something.

Danica: It definitely gets taken too seriously..Honestly I feel like it's become another social symbol of how well you're doing as a general whole. It was never that important to begin with, but things changed with technology and just generations I suppose.

Monse: i never understood the whole hiding situation. like if you don't want to post then by all means don't post but we're not going to play a game of guess who to figure out your mystery. it's confusing to me.

Majesty: See, I think the whole emoji over face thing is weird too. But I cant say that my significant other no posting me would bother me, honestly. I was just never into all of that. I just have to believe and trust that they’re doing right by me. Because if I let something as small as that get in the way of my relationship then I damn near don’t need to be in it

Kennedy: Honestly I don't see the big deal in posting your significant other, but I agree Ozzy.. if they are going to post you then they need to post you and not an emoji. Its ugly for one and they're definitely being secretive. I can also agree with you Riley.. when you're in a position of having a lot of followers or are something like an internet personality it comes with a lot of pressure. You have to be careful with what you say not to step on anyone's toes, offend someone and it makes it hard to be yourself. AND since when did it become posting a MCM or WCW that it meant you were like staking claim on a person? I could have sworn it was about finding someone cute or whatever. Cause I damn sure know Chris Brown ain't checking for me. [laughs] People are hilarious when it comes to social media. The one positive thing that I can say I've seen come out of relationships and social media is like people on Youtube with their significant others using it to their advantage to bring in that dough. Sometimes thats fake too, but hey.. it is what it is.

But it took some time, since I really wanted to *feel* the album first and I needed to et it in my system in order to properly gather my thoughts. I have listened to it just about 10 times now and I can finally make up my mind about the songs that I like, the hidden gems, the nah-songs (spoiler: almost NO nah-songs) and my overall opinion. Since it’s a ver rainy Sunday and I don’t plan on doing much the rest of the day, I thought it would be fun to write an in-depth review.Or maybe not that in-depth, just a few sentances about each song... ready for it? I am, so let’s get to it!

OVERALL OPINION: God, I love this album. I’m not gonna say it’s my favourite or it’s better than RED or 1989 (my two favourites) because it’s just so different and so strong as a stand-on-itself album, especially since it’s a whole lotta Taylor and a whole new side of Taylor. That’s also the thing I love most about it: I think it’s amazing how the album is both vulmerable and honest, because it’s her telling her own story, and sassy and badass, because it’s her clapback to haters, the media and, well, pretty much everyone who ever hurt or neglected or bullied her. The album makes me FEEL stuff, guys. I love how many sides of Taylor’s voice we can hear, how some songs are soft and slow and others are YOOO IN YOUR FACE and BOOM and THIS IS ME DEAL WITH IT. I love how some of the songs are sexy and others talk about drugs and alcohol and how that shows that she is DONE with the good girl/sweetheart image and no longer ashamed of being who she is and liking the stuff she likes. This is Taylor at her best, her finest, her most honest and her most authentic and dear God, I adore that.

...Ready For It?: I love how she clears her throat. I love her rapping and then singing slowly and romantically There’s kind of a Wildest Dreams-vibe and i ADORE the second verse, especially from /And he can be my jailor / Burton to this Taylor / Every love I’ve known in comparision is a failiure.. And her moaning in the chrous, and the WOO-ing, the bridge... I love the lyrics and the switching between loud and pumping and soft and romantic makes me love the song.

End Game (feat. Ed Sheeran and Future): I was pretty disapointed by this song at first, but I’ve definitely come to love it. Truth be told, I don’t like the long rap verses, but I LOVe how the song makes me dance and I LOVE Taylor’s parts. The idea of her wanting someone to be her end game and her one and only is just so beautiful and I love how she sings about /I just wanna be / Drinking on the beach with you all over me/ because that gives me chills. Her parts are great. I also love the BIG REPUTATION thing and reputation proceeds me but as for the rest, it’s kinda nah. 

I Did Something Bad: I feel like this is, lyrically speaking, kind of a sequel to Blank Space, because it talks about her being the female Casanova type and playing guys and serial dating. I like how it’s also her way of saying ‘’so what, I date guys and I like that, what’s wronig with that’’ and how she is the one to decide how she plays the game. I also LOVE the bridge, it’s genius and so accurate and haunting and I think it’s the perfect way to illustrate how people think of strong woman who just do whatever the hell they want. It’s not one of my favourites though, but I like how it’s a perfect girl power song.

Don’t Blame Me: Words seriously cannot expres how awesome I think this song is. I LOVE the jazzy sound it has, and it has me screaming along with the chorus because it’s SO soulful. I think was the first song from the album to get stuck in my head. I also love how it’s about how compelling love can be and how you can get drunk on it. In comparision to the previous song, it’s funny how she now sings about being totally bound to someone and your feelings for that person. Diversity, I told you!

Delicate: God, I love this song to pieces. It hit me right in the heart when I first heard it and I still love it so much. I love the pre-chorus and the chorus itself is just so delicate indeed. There’s vulmerability and tenderness and carefulness and insecurity and wall-breaking and opening up to someone in there and I love how the beat kicks in during the chorus and makes it even more powerful. I think this song has a really powerful sound that I think it’s amazing that the lyrics are so pure and romantic and it’s still a very dancey song.

Look What You Made Me Do: I still love this song. I love the lyrics and the sound and the bridge and Taylor’s voice in it I love how it’s a perfect snub song, sassy and kickass and perfect. She’s speaking her own truth here and I think that’s awesome. I must admit though that it’s the song with the less depth.

So It Goes...: A total hidden gem. I have come to love this song with all my heart over the last days, because there’s some kind of magic in the sound of her voice and the lyrics. It gives me this grand feeling and I don’t really know what it is, but there’s something bombastic and heart-stopping about this song and i LOVE it. I really do. That counting too... my heart. It’s a song that reminds me of two people meeting after some time apart and realizing that they can conquer the world together and that all is right because their love is so strong. 

Gorgeous: Love it. To pieces. It’s the perfect falling for someone-song and I love how the lyrics show that that exact thing is often not romantic or convenient at all, and that it’s just captivating and awkward. The song is so easy to sing along to, and i LOVE the *DING*! Great song. Also, the part about her cats in the bridge? GOLD.

Getaway Car: God... this song. Out of this world. Seriously. The lyrics are genious and telling such a compelling story, but the song itself is just SO DAMN GOOD. The way the pre-chorus gets louder and faster and then BANG there’s this SUPERNATURAL BEAT and I kind of jump out of my seat every time. This is an absolutely EPIC song and the chorus is amazing. She’s vocally so strong and put-together here and oh my God I love this. Oh, and her saying ‘’getaway car’’ in a British accent is EVERYTHING. This song has my soul.

King of My Heart: This is pretty much the one song that doesn’t really get to me. I don’t know what it is, but when I saw the track title I was already like ‘’nah’’ and it’s just not it for me. The lyrics are cool, but it’s that kind of song that just silently plays and goes by without really being noticed. Maybe it’s because it follows Getaway Car and seriously, that’s a song you need to catch your breath after hearing. This is not a bad song, it’s just not awesome for me. 

Dancing With Our Hands Tied: Another epic song! This kind of reminds me of Titanic, I don’t even know why but I love it. It doesn’t really stand out on the album, but I love how the lyrics tell the story of finally finding someone who wants you even though you’re broken and the world keeps breaking you and even though you’re afraid that you’re going to break what you have. There’s something special to it that I really have a soft spot for. 

Dress: What’s not to love about this song, honestly? I love the intro. I love the pre-chorus, I love the ‘’ha ha ha ha’’ and I love the lyrics. Don’t think it’s all that sexy though, but it’s definitely one of her more risky songs because it doesn’t necessarily bring up thoughts about sweet and romantic sex, but it’s more like she is saying ‘’I’m not ashamed of loving to have sex with someone who’s special to me’’ and it’s also like she’s opening up about her previous sex life (rebounds) so that makes it a pretty deep song. I like it!

This is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things: YASSSS TELL THEM TAYLOR! TELL THEM! I love how she finally strikes back to people like Kanye in this song and talks about how she is sick of the drama and tricks and DONE with everyone playing and using and hating on her. I LOVE the bridge and I LOVE her talking about not keeping a straight face. This song is SAVAGE and it was about DAMN TIME. Love it. The Gatsby-vibe is awesome too.

Call It What You Want: This is definitely one of my favourite songs on the album: she is so honest here and I love how calmly she sings about not caring what is happening because she has someone who got her back She doesn’t care about her reputation and being called names and people who don’t know her anymore and I love how this song tells the story of how she’s grown and what matters to her. So beautiful. The bridge is so pretty too, and I love how it makes a statement by being near the ending of the album. THIS is what mattters, not her image or her bad experiences or her previous relationships. THIS.

New Year’s Day: I can totally understand why people cried during this song. It sounds so beautiful and the message is so strong and the lyrics are so pure and the song is just gold. I love how she ends with a song about what really matters to her and then a song about finally being in a happy and healthy and wonderful relationship with someone who isn’t perfect, but who she knows is going to stick around. It’s such a sensitive and heartfelt song and it really touches me when I hear it. Like I said, these two songs are so different and emotional compared to the upbeat and powerful anthem songs and stories about failed love and that’s what makes this album really strong and soulful: it’s Taylor’s story about who she’s become and how she’s grown and how she’s found love and that is just so special. 

CONCLUSION: Iadore the album. It may not be my favourite, but I DO think that it’s definitely Taylor’s best work yet because of the diversity, the incredibly strong feelings that each song evokes, the messages and stories she’s telling and spreading and how personal and daring and vocally incredible it is. I love it and will listen to it untill the end of time and I cannot wait for more music videos and performances.
