yooo!! i saw in your fh retribution post that you can mind dive with steel to see step flashbacks and i wanted to know how i could get that scene? 👀👀

For starters you gotta be close with Steel as a friend or love interest, low sus or him being unsure that your villain is actually evil/a mystery basically he has to trust you on some level, meet HG as your puppet, and either abandon them in the crash or be ejected back into your own body. Steel will contact you so long as you don't immediately visit Ortega in the hospital (unless that's changed). You can still visit them after the call though, have your cake and eat it too as they say.

Also, they're Step adjacent observations from his perspective. One is Step specific, the other Heartbreak. I've only managed to get Heartbreak in my canon run of the official release because Emery isn't a tactician. But if I remember correctly, you have to pick the sneaky approach as a tactician with low sus. Um, as for the other; ask him for help, I know your affinity with him has to be below a certain amount though I don't know the number, and your willpower exhausted.

Willpower and telepathic strength influence a lot throughout this sequence.

That said, I haven't code dived since playtesting and left the server early because group chats trigger my anxiety. I played this book an obscene amount without diving much at all, specifically the routes involving Chen, Ortega, and their polyship. So, I don't know if I'm remembering any of this 100% or what/if anything changed after I left, but this should still steer you in the right direction.

Highly suggest using a browser script save file plugin for cog and experimenting, because there's a lot to this scene. Otherwise, you have the chapter reset checkpoint in the stats page as a redo option.
