realistically it's 15 years and no one in their sane mind will ask anyone of that but with sun jae, having met the 2023 sun jae in both timelines and knowing how down bad insane he's been yearning for sol despite him not having a chance yet unable to let go... we don't even question it. we don't even question the whole 'ah life moves on, people move on and drift and change' thing that'll definitely be a question with any other couple.

we just naturally accept it, yes ofc sun jae will wait and reunite with sol again, 15 years is nothing.

in the world of so called situationships, cheating, falling out of love, long distance relationship struggles, commitment issues and so on... this pure, intense love is just so wonderful to witness. ofc some situations are reasonable and can't be helped but these two who'll go against time and fate for each other just to be together... i know it's a drama and it's idealistic but just for a few hours, you live in this space where two people purely seek each other because they wouldn't want to be anywhere else, no matter how many years they've to wait.

in so many romance dramas and movies, the question of actually wanting each other comes up, with the whole second lead involvement and misunderstandings and more, but here, there's nothing. you know both of them only have eyes for each other and it's so beautiful, that's what pulls you in.

two dumbasses adoring each other and falling hard so badly that time is just a small obstacle to overcome.

sun jae, in every timeline, from the heartbroken one to the living life well one, from the high school kid to the college kid, has only ever wanted sol. he fell for her kindness and never changed. she fell for his kindness and his wonderful being in itself and now she's down bad just like him. to think he helped her through vicious hard times the college sun jae won't even be aware of.

i feel that these two pull us in so well cuz at the end of the day we all want to be loved unconditionally and these two show us that, how it must be, to be so intensely woven into each other.

and to add on to that, in every timeline, they've also always been best friends with the same kids they used to run around together in their school days. yes it's a drama but don't we all want to have life long friends who'll always be there?

in all forms, love persists here, beyond time.

lovely runner is so filled with love, kindness and devotion in all ways that you just can't help but fall in love, just as sun jae and sol fell for each other.

→ holds this intimidating aura that just by the look of his face, the message is there. Even if he doesn't move an inch, one will feel like a hundred tigers are preying behind him. Some even referred to him as "Tiger" not only due to his affinity when it comes to such animals, but also his entire being. He's like a predator in a forest of prey.

→ in a fight, he isn't one to sit back and watch. He studies the battle first and crushes his opponents through their skulls. He doesn't mind if his hands are coated in blood. He makes his clan the deadliest around and messing with him is a death sentence.

CHOI JONG-IN

→ leader of the "Red Flames".

→ clever, persuasive, cunning, and intelligent.

→ wears various of fashionable suits. Red is his common color. He also has eight rings to signify his status as a rich mafia boss.

→ always has a custom lighter somewhere in his pockets in case he wants to smoke.

→ he has high standards when it comes to alliances.

→ knows his way around words. Literally. He also has the best spies to gain information on the clans he visits and use these discoveries to his advantage. Everyone considers him as the "know-it-all" because of how he remembers even the tiniest detail and these "tiny" details become the keys to gaining what he wants.

→ runs a business in finance and not once used any money from it because his business in the city is different from his actual business. He also owns a winery after winning against his relatives.

→ compliments don't affect him. Whatever those compliments are, he already knows it.

→ hands? Nah. Guns? Sometimes. Fire? Yes.

→ doesn't involve himself in fights because he hates getting his suits filthy or even his hands from the germs of his enemies. However, he does like the torture. → shrewd, ruthless, intelligent, and fierce.

→ always seen wearing a casual suit, yet it has chest harnesses and a silver insignia of his clan on his left pectoral, has black leather gloves, and keeps a pair of sunglasses.

→ is actually a lawyer, which comes in handy when dealing with other clans. He doesn't allow it when a clan comes to his manor without an invitation, deeming it as disrespect, and won't accept them until he receives a proper letter.

→ the purpose of the invitations or letters is to buy himself time to summon his spies to investigate the clan and study the accumulated information to see if he finds anything suspicious.

→ has a revolver and a knife.

→ he excels in interrogation and when he does, he has three levels — a simple interrogation, an interrogation that involves threat if the target isn't complying, and the intense level where he takes matters to his hands. One time he presses his foot on the back of the target's neck until every word is out.

→ has alliances outside the country, which makes his clan one of the most formidable.

LIU ZHIGANG

→ son of the former boss' second-in-command, yet takes the position after being given the honor.

→ wears any kind of black clothing to showcase his clan's true aura — darkness. Though, he never fails to present himself presentable and intimidating no matter how "simple" he looks.

→ he doesn't go to clans for alliances. Instead, he awaits for them to go to his territory by themselves.

→ composed and reserved. But his eyes look as if he is staring into one's soul until shivers run down their spine and turn jittery even when he isn't uttering a word. He studies them closely and gives simple answers only.

→ he beats up those who mess with him and all his members have to do is watch. He doesn't mind getting his hands dirty, though he leaves the disposal to his subordinates.

→ he chooses to be under the radar, yet is very well-known among the clans — thanks to the image his predecessor had forged.

→ one of the deadliest. No one gets to be stubborn around him, otherwise he'll make them obey. He does whatever he wants and has a backup plan for his every move in case it goes awry.

→ patient, clever, merciful, and confident.

→ has a sword with her all the time.

→ doesn't have a specific attire, so her clothes vary depending on her choices. Either way, she always show an intimidating appearance.

→ she absorbs insults, but when it's her turn, those people will regret having a tongue. She's kind to those who are kind and respect her, but she never tolerates the opposite as the punishment will be tenfold.

→ she likes putting her sword at her enemies' throats and witness as a pint of fear appears to satiate her. But it's a rare occasion if she actually uses her sword to spill blood.

→ known as the "Dancer" because of how flexible and agile she is in fighting as if it's a plaything for her. She can take down a dozen of people without having her crew to step in.

→ is open to alliances, but it always has a catch — she cannot be bossed around. A single mistake is fine, but betrayal? She will show no mercy.

→ she may not always be taken seriously by some clans, but she uses that to her advantage since she actually likes showing how powerful she is.

You found your new neighbor, or neighbors as it later turned out, strange from the moment you first laid eyes upon them when they were moving into the house across the street. The problem was that you seemed to be the only one to think that they were strange as all the other neighbors seemed to love them, definitely the tall one. You tried to shake the feeling when you first learned about them and they seemed to be normal people but yet something was horribly wrong about them, you just knew it. But you never could have guessed how right you were.......

Chapter one : The Trials

It had been a rainy Saturday evening when you first noticed that the house across the street from you had been sold. The house in question had been on the market for way longer than most in this recent housing crisis and you knew why, it had been the house of one of the victims of a crime case that had had a choke hold on the country and most of Asia for over a year, you included. Of course you, the true crime junkie that you were, were completely obsessed with the case so you knew all about it. The house in question was that of Reporter Jo, one of the victims of the infamous Eden serial killers as the public had dubbed them. It was one of the most horrendous crime cases Korea had ever known and the fact that it involved so many people and that the group got away with it for so long, is what scared most people. You knew you were spending way too much time on this case and following these trials when you should actually have been studying but couldn't help yourself, the fact that you had partially convinced yourself that this was a good case study since you wanted to become a forensic psychiatrist didn't exactly help either. You simply found it unimaginable that these people had been doing what they had been doing for so long and had gotten away with it for so long, definitely when you considered that these people had been literal outcasts. It wasn't like most serial killers that would try and blend in with day to day society, no they were strange and unpleasant people to begin with, so why hadn't anybody raised concerns or why hadn't anybody taken Victim Yoon's statements seriously, when he seemed to be the only one suspecting them. To you, it only proved how smart and cunning, but more than that heartless they had been in selecting their victims. They targeted people that were already suffering and having a hard time surviving. People that wouldn't be missed by the general public or who's sanity and mental health would be brought in question when launching an investigation when reported missing. The leader of the group had to be a real piece of work when you considered the fact that some of the members had had disabilities as well and that she still got them to do exactly as told or else they wouldn't have been able to get away with it all for so long.

A scene I tend to overthink is this one

And Woo Jin-Chul isn't the person I think about here (although it's a very iconic moment of him)

The one I keep thinking about is Baek Yoon-Ho

This is a manhwa-only moment as far as I know (since the anime hasn't gotten here yet), but in theory, Hwang Dong-Soo should be stronger than Baek Yoon-Ho because his powers are likely being upgraded by Norma Selner

Woo Jin-Chul also says they held back at the last second (which is most likely said out of courtesy more than anything), but while Baek Yoon-Ho would have done that (especially with his reflexes), Hwang Dong-Soo doesn't really have a reason to (it's not exactly in his character)

However, the arm that shakes and that Woo Jin-Chul checks isn't the one that stopped Hwang Dong-Soo. It's the one that stops Baek Yoon-Ho

There are a lot of different factors here, like Hwang Dong-Soo using his fist unlike Baek Yoon-Ho, how serious both of them are taking the fight, and how strong Baek Yoon-Ho is at this stage of his transformation, but just based on this scene, I like to imagine Baek Yoon-Ho is stronger than Hwang Dong-Soo (if Baek Yoon-Ho really went all out, but I think that's unlikely given his personality)

Anyway, this is just me brain-rotting

I finished my first rewatch of lovely runner🥲 and I'm still not over it heh (and I don't want to be 🫠😂) so I was rewatching the scene where Sunjae and Sol meet right after Sunjae remembers everything (God just the angst of that *chefs kiss) and oh my God the tremble in Sunjae's voice when he asks her if she cried like that everytime she was lonely. Byeon Woo Seok's so good! This drama just keeps on giving 😭

thank you for this because it gave me the chance to rewatch that scene specifically 😌 for science 😌

(but ayy!!! now onto the second rewatch!!) (but yeah i’m halfway through my rewatch but i’ve slowed down so i can avoid reaching the eNd again 🥲)

honestly everything about that moment was SO. WELL. DONE.

the lead up??? a masterpiece. the memories pouring in while sunjae tries to keep up, his eyes his facial expression feeling like it’s all too much but everything suddenly makes SENSE - the heartache the joy the confusion the undERSTANDING the despERATION

lying there on the street not even aware he nearly died- purely cause he’s drowning in everything sol!!! and then!! HE RUNS. HES RUNNING AND HE DOESNT EVEN KNOW WHERE TO!! he just needs to GET TO HER ASAP AND NOT LOSE HER AGAIN HE JUST HAS TO GET TO HER

i can’t even begin to imagine what he must’ve felt when he first lays eyes on her — like she’s not in his memories anymore- not the sol in all those different timelines, not the sol from this timeline when he didn’t recognise her

she’s here. she’s real. and he’s out of breath and his mind is a massive mess and his soul is exhausted but she’s here

and he’s starting to truly realise what she must’ve gone through…::repeatedly. having to see him die having to run around with all that burden on her shoulders

not telling anyone

making the decision to start all over again and keeping her distance from him- all alone. no one to confide in- not even him

his heart breaks - cause he knows what it feels like to live a life without her — both when he knows she exists and when he doesn’t

and he knows how horrible it is — but sol knew him and loved him and lived a life where he loved her too��.and yet had to go through 15 years denying herself that joy and love and connection to keep him safe…such a massive selfless act..

all for him.

and now he’s staring at her out of breath with red eyes and tears rolling down her cheeks and he knows why. he finally knows the answer to the question he’s always asking her “why are you crying? did i do something wrong?”

he knows the answer…::and it’s not a happy one

AND NOW HE GETS TO SEE IT LIVE IN ACTION IN FRONT OF HIM- she’s obviously been crying and she’s trying to deny it and he realises this has been her life for the last 15 years….,.,,,…
