Trick or treat!!? :3
aaannnnnnnnddddd happy late halloween! for your little treat I wanted to talk about one of my favourite scenes in Paranormality, and a little easter egg that nobody commented on so I want an excuse to talk about!!! + some other quirky details about the implementation of folklore in the story
This scene, from the Chapter "Satori, Satori" where Tendou is losing his shit and runs off.
Oikawa mentions it waaayyyy earlier at the Valentine's day event, BUT in satori lore, the only way to get it to leave you alone is to throw something at it! Specifically, the explanation is usually something like "if you encounter it on a mountain trail, it will mimic your words back to you and stop you on your way. but if you throw a rock or something at it, it will run away and you can escape."
SO this scene has two main little bits to it, First off: Tendou is beholden to his Folklore - when he is hit with a thrown object, he is compelled to run away. The chase scene that follows is a result of paranormal influence, not necessarily that tendou had chosen to keep running like that.
Second: Ushijima's mother knows this. She had heard the rumours and chooses to pick up that pot KNOWING it would work to chase him off. And because in this moment Tendou is being treated as a satori, truly treated like one, it cements his transformation and the need to use folkloric strategy to chase him off.
Side Note: YES this may come up in the sequels but this DOES MEAN there are times where he can be chased off by having objects thrown at him. There are a few scraped jokes where someone flicks something at him and he acts all annoyed and leaves the room. Jokes like that - where the characters fulfill folklore legends in a discrete way, are EVERYWHERE in Paranormality. Like Tendou having beef with Anthelme the gargoyle. On the surface its a joke about him being able to tell its a yokai eater and being uncomfortable, but in reality a gargoyle "keeps evil spirits out of a building" so Tendou was physically incapable of passing into the Shima Three building. The universe just finds a clever way of fulfilling those rules without it looking like magic - ie, making it happen casually, or as if it was Tendou's choice.

Or, for example: Ushijima Wakatoshi was taught how to read by Tendou Satori using Shonen Jump Magazines (REAL). And, of course, the most important thing: Ushijima Wakatoshi and Tendou Satori are monsters who are also teammates and soulmates.
But maybe some of you don't know those things. You know about UshiTen (of course) but you don't really understand them. You need More before you're fully on board.
To that end, the mods of UshiTen Exchange say: an UshiTen drabble a day keeps the Hinata Shouyo away!
For the next eight days, we will be giving you a short UshiTen drabble a day to help bring you over to the light. We'll be sorting through a variety of tropes and situationships because UshiTen? They have the RANGE.

When Satori was a child, he would craft monsters out of clay. He would give them all of the things that scared him—wide eyes and fanged teeth, pointed horns and claws so sharp they could pierce. His monsters were mean; they could chew through bone and swallow eyeballs and crush little boys between their fingers. They would protect him, his monsters. They were scary and they were not real and he loved them very much.
He thinks he looks like one of them, the first time he meets him.
Six foot two inches tall, with the kind of body brick walls are built of and the kind of intensity that breaks waves against shores. He has thick, serious eyebrows, and unmoving brown eyes, and soft hair that is either brown or olive or both. He never smiles and his arms are always crossed at his large chest, and he is relentlessly polite.
Satori’s monsters had always been protective, but never been kind.
The first time he meets him, he’s almost afraid.
“Wakatoshi-kun, eh?” he says, as a joke, because everything is easier as a joke. “I hear we’re on the same team.”
Satori has never been on a team before. He’s never been allowed.
“Tendou Satori,” the monster says and his voice is as steady as the ground. “I hear you are able to score points.”
He says it not as a challenge, but as an expectation. Whatever Satori had been expecting, it wasn’t this.
“Have you heard of me?” Satori asks and tilts his head, baring his teeth. If the other boy won’t challenge him, he’ll push back first.
“Yes,” Ushijima says.
“Most of it is true,” Satori says and he smiles, a bitter, sharp thing. It’s a smile made of fanged teeth and pointed horns and claws so sharp they pierce. “I’m scary, and I’m mean, and I’m intense, and I probably have a bad attitude. They call me a monster. A yokai.”
“Are you one?” Ushijima asks and Satori laughs, hurt and pleased.
“Yes.”
“I see,” Ushijima says, accepting this.
Of course. Satori’s smile dims. Even monsters can be hurt.
He turns to leave, when Ushijima says, “But I hear you are able to score points.”
Confused, Satori turns back.
“Yes?”
Ushijima stares at him with those unmoving eyes, a monster facing a monster. He is steady and curious and utterly unafraid. After a moment, he nods.
“Then, that is fine.”
Satori doesn’t understand.
“All that matters is that you are able to score points,” Ushijma says. The monster’s expression softens. Like this, he is almost human. “That is all that matters when we play volleyball, Tendou Satori. That is the only thing I care about on my team.”
He will think later that this was the moment he fell in love with Ushijima Wakatoshi.
Or maybe it was the first time he reached forward to help Satori up from the ground; the first time he sat next to him—not away from him—at lunch; the first time Satori knocked on his bedroom door and Ushijima let him in.
Or maybe it was the first time Satori lay down on the ground next to him after a hard-fought game, the two of them panting, sweat damping their temples. Their hearts racing, victory in their blood. Ushijima turned to Satori and smiled.
Maybe it’s then that Satori learned that there are many kinds of monsters. Some are scary and some are mean, but all of them can be beautiful.
All you need is to find the one that matches the kind that you are.

[fic][tenseki] : Paranoia (2024)
402 words, bahasa Indonesia
Dua puluh empat jam…
Dada Seki berdenyut nyeri.
Seki menggeleng. "Aku rindu." Akhirnya Seki memilih jawaban itu. Sambil merengkuh tengkuk Tendou, Seki mencumbunya.

so back in elementary school, Tendou Satori was bullied, right?
and do you remember how he was bullied??? he was often called a monster aka a yokai.
while i was doing research for my book i came across the Japanese mythology creature ‘Satori’.
it was a mind reading, monkey-like yokai.
i realized that the mind reading could be drawn as a connection to tendous guess blocking considering he’s very good at it, and it’s almost like mind reading. it also seems like a likely way he would get his nickname “yokai”
so yeah i just wanted to tell people cause i thought it was very interesting and i haven’t heard anything about it before

Uninvited
Yokai! Tendou Satori x Reader (Fantasy AU)
- a commission piece for @nightmarelilyxd <3
Having a heart too kind for your own good leads to an uninvited surprise
Warnings: Monster fucking, starts off non/dubcon, yandere tendou, mentions of wounds/blood, porn with just a tiny pinch of plot
Folklore and superstition often came hand in hand.
The dense forest nestled right behind your little cottage was a place filled to the brim with myths and horror stories. Mothers would scare their children to sleep with endless tales of the yokai that prowled within those shadows, ready to snatch naughty kids into their greedy grasps if they stayed up past their bedtime. They wore the faces and skins of humans, and even walked amongst the foolish mortals; yet, one tiny mistake could spell your doom if you weren’t careful around those cunning beings.
The adults were none the wiser, the whispered stories of sole hunters never coming back again after venturing too far into the depths were commonplace in every man’s household. Stray too far from the path and you might just never come back in one piece.
You couldn’t help but scoff in scorn whenever you heard the buzzed whispers.
The woods have been nothing but a safe place to you, a place of life and resources that helped you to get past each day. Not once in your life had you caught a glimpse of the so-called yokais that gorges itself on human flesh or gnawed on bones. If you had to pick the scariest thing that lurked in the woods, it would be the huge brown bear that patrols a little too close to your cottage with each passing day.
Nothing an extra few torches wouldn’t solve.
Elders, blackberries, yarrows, and white willows. You recite the list in your head as you walked into the forest, your surroundings dim immediately as the thick foliage blocks most sun rays. Picking these herbs would be essential if you wanted to keep up the rapidly dwindling stock. Many of the little children in your village had been struck by a particularly nasty fever that led to an increase of wailing mothers banging on your cottage door.
As the village’s only practitioner in wild herbs, it was your responsibility to take care of them whenever a sickness plagued the village.
The blackberries would help stave off the bitterness of the medicine you were going to make. You did not want the children to be spitting out your medicine due to the taste. But blackberries were a rarity in this part of the forest. You huffed, patting away the dirt on your long skirts and picking up your basket.
The only solution was to wander a little deeper and hope that the deers have not yet eaten the bush scarce.
-----
It’s the first time you’ve seen a red so vibrant. The crimson shade seemed to pulse against the gloomy backdrop of the forest floor, the color was a stark contrast to the shades of green and brown you were used to seeing.
You sink to your knees carefully, the bush of blackberries are long forgotten the moment you catch sight of a darker liquid that oozes out the side of the snake’s scales. It doesn’t look like blood, more like the dark ichor of some untamed beast.
Don’t be ridiculous. You shake away the thought immediately, the snake hisses as you shuffle a little closer on your knees. Shiny sharp fangs glisten despite the dwindling sunlight when it bares its mouth open and you catch sight of its forked tongue that darts out. It’s a ferocious sight that would send most scattering away, but you glare back stubbornly at its slitted yellow eyes.
You’ve always had a heart too kind and too soft. Especially for strays. Maybe it’s the same stubbornness that makes you accept even the worst of patients, the patients that you know are hopeless but some part of you refuses to turn them down. And right now, you weren’t going to let this darned snake bleed to death on the forest floor.
“I’m bringing you back.” You scowl at the snake whilst it eyes you right back and suddenly, you feel a little ridiculous talking to a snake of all animals. “I’ve treated worst than you.” You rip up your skirt and wrap the torn fabric around your fingers before reaching slowly towards the snake where it curls into itself defensively.
It tries to bite you. Once. When your five fingers are just about to wrap around its body, it lashes out like a strike of red whip so fast that it becomes a blur. You dart back immediately, just barely avoiding a pair of fang-shaped holes in your favorite hand. It rears its head in defense, drawing itself upwards, and oh- the snake is a little bigger than you anticipated. It looked small when it was partly hidden by the greenery but now that you get a clearer sight of its body, it’s got to be at least twice the length of your entire hand. And those reddish-brown slits are practically glowering holes into your hand when you try to capture it again.
That’s a pretty huge snake.
The second time you try, you wrap more of your torn skirt around your fingers. This time, it hisses and snarls but you manage to wrap all five fingers around it and lift its trashing body out of the pile of leaves.
Part of the black liquid on its scales brushes against the bare skin that you couldn’t wrap up and you nearly drop the snake with a scalded hiss. It stings, not painful enough that your skin begins to burn but the pain rushes you to place the snake into your herb basket and you glare at the reddening patch over your index finger. What sort of blood harms people? You stare at your injured finger incredulously. Years of knowledge in your medical field told you that this injury defied all sorts of logic. Maybe you'd brushed your finger too hard against the spiny branches. A white lie to comfort yourself.
At least all your fingers are still intact.
Upon closer look at the animal, you hesitate a little. You’ve treated countless mammals before (from injured deer to wildcats and birds), but the snake now safe in your basket was the first reptile that you encountered. Safe for that one book you have about wild lizards and snakes, you’ve never been so close to a snake this big before. You peer carefully at its body, the mesmerizing iridescent shift of its red scales seem to glow with a different hue each time it coils and uncoils.
You don’t recall reading about such a beautiful animal before.
You wince on its behalf when it shifts again, catching sight of the long gash across its side that cuts so deep you can see a slimy layer of tissue. The source of the black ichor. It was probably attacked by an animal, a wild cat, or some sort.
Carefully, you cover your basket with the wicker top and hurry back home as the sun sets on the horizon. You might be brave, but you were no fool to be dawdling around the forest at night when the predators came out to hunt.
-----
You lace the meat with a single dose of sedative and drop it into the basket before scurrying away (just in case it tries to tear off one of your fingers again) and wait until the rustling stops before you begin to properly examine the animal.
It’s a little unnerving, moving its limp body out of the basket while those empty eyes are still as wide as moons. Quickly, you move your little tray of supplies onto the table. You'd have to work fast, there was no telling when it would wake up. The last thing you wanted was for it to gain consciousness halfway through the treatment.
With a loud huff, you flip the book right to the chapter on reptiles and glare at the unmoving animal on your table. “Let’s get to work.”
-----
Usually, you sleep until the beginning of a sunrise trickles into the tiny cracks of your curtains and the gentle warmth is what gets your groggy body moving out of your tiny bed.
Something jolts you awake. In the middle of the night.
It takes you a few agonizingly slow moments before your sleepy eyes adjust to the darkness that shrouds your little cottage and it takes another full minute before you register the figure looming just inches above your face.
You nearly piss yourself.
“Get out of my face,” you say as calmly as you can muster.
Red. That’s the first color you notice despite the dim lighting from the candlelight in the corner, red hair that falls in loose waves across the man’s forehead and brushes against your cheek like warm silk. His face is all sharp planes and angles, paired with bright eyes that glitter in the dark like a cat. A musky scent of wood fills the air around you as his warm breath fans across your face. Something familiar clings to his skin as well...a scent that you are used to-
“Did I wake you up?” His voice is a little scratchy and rugged around the edges as if he hasn’t spoken in years. Those bright eyes seem to be more like narrow slits of dimmed gold now that you are looking closely, with a brown ring around those striking irises that seem so… unnaturally haunting.
“Get. Out. Of. My. Face.” You repeat, trying to fight back the shallow waves of panic that are now lapping against the edges of your breathing.
A slow grin spreads across his face, not exactly the reaction you were looking for. One that tugs the edges of his lips up to reveal sharpened canines. No- those aren’t canines, humans didn’t have canines this sharp or elongated. Those are fangs, you think blearily. Fangs that glint against the faint silvery moonlight as shadows yawn across his pale skin.
Fangs.
No way, the sleep must be making you hallucinate. You blink slowly and the roguish smile widens.
“Did the little princess get scared?” As if it couldn’t get any worse, his tongue darts out to wet his lips as he speaks. A forked tongue.
Oh god, oh god, oh god.
You try to sit up immediately, try to push this man off you, off your fucking bed- only to find that he has your hands pinned to the bed. Long slender fingers are wrapped around both your wrists, keeping you imprisoned under him. His grip tightens warningly when you flex your hands in an attempt to break free and you fall limp when he presses you down further into the mattress. He could kill you with such inhuman strength. He could snap your exposed neck between his large hands like a twig and leave your cooling corpse on the bed without breaking a sweat.
“Let me go.” Even in your ears, your panicked voice barely sounds like your own, all high pitched and shaky, like the words would crumble apart if you spoke too loudly. “I’ll scream,” you try pathetically and he laughs aloud this time, as if the idea of your fear was utterly amusing to him.
A single thin eyebrow creeps up his forehead. “Who will come running to save you?” His voice is a little smoother now, like raw honey dripping off the sharp edge of a dagger. “No one is gonna hear your screams when you live so far from the village.” He says airily.
“Besides,” the man pouts in a rather childish manner, more of his hair falling across his eyes as he shifts his knees that are planted on either side of your legs to inch them closer. “I’m your honored guest.”
“You brought me into your home yourself. And now you want me to leave?”
You come to the conclusion that he’s an utter nutcase. You’ve heard of rumors about men like him before. A trend that caught on in the more developed towns of Japan. They mutilate their own bodies calling it a form of ‘art’ and prey on young women for pleasure. That explains the tongue and those fangs, it explains the manic glint in his eyes.
“I-I’ll give you anything you need.” You whisper, trying to stifle the whimper bubbling in your throat. “Please, please don’t hurt me.”
He studies you for a minute, taking in your frightened face and tensed body. You’re trembling under him, too terrified to speak further and he leans down, his smothering weight is everywhere on your body. The man’s nose grazes lightly across your neck and he sighs out a soft gasp when his warm tongue runs down your collarbone to the valley between your heaving breasts. He lets out a small groan at the taste of your exposed skin. A sound that has your own cheeks heating up despite the cool night air that staves away the wet, warm path of his saliva. Instinctively, his fingers close further around your hands with frightening ease. As if you were stuffed with cotton instead of bone.
“Do you really not recognize me?” The man tilts his head and you catch another glimpse of his forked tongue dancing between his fangs. “I thought that my little human would be smarter than this.”
“What?” You splutter like a fish out of water, temporary puzzlement taking over the initial fear at his question. “Don’t be ridiculous…”
The smell. It’s been tugging insistently at the edge of your brain the moment you opened your eyes. The slightly bitter tang of herbs that you crushed into a fine paste with your own two hands in the kitchen earlier this evening. More specifically, it’s the same paste that you soothed over the-
“...snake.”
You can’t decide if the grin that splits across his face is more terrifying or beautiful. “You remember now? The poor snake that you brought home and so lovingly fussed over.”
A large leg wedges its way between your thighs and your bed creaks in response to the sudden shift of weight. It wasn’t designed for someone his size, let alone the both of you together. “I must apologize,” he purrs into your ear in a tone that is deceptively sweet before lifting up your entwined hands to look at where his blood had scalded your finger earlier. “I don’t go into my snake form that often. But when I do.”
Calloused fingers stroke across the inside of your wrist as if sensing the way your frightened pulse was fluttering like a trapped butterfly under your skin. Slowly, he lifts your hand to his mouth, the slight scrape of sharp teeth over your knuckles makes you go limp under him and the man cradles your palm to his cheek. “I become rather… animalistic.” He smiles and presses a delicate kiss to your fingers before nuzzling into your palm, his lips are surprisingly soft when he presses open-mouthed kisses across the length of your arm before they stop at your open palm again. “I can’t quite control my urges, especially around fragile little humans. One as pretty as you? Even less.”
“You’re not real.” You whimper, a sound almost identical to a lamb’s bleat in his ears. Your terrified face is identical to a cowering prey, and it makes him long to just devour your whole. “Those are just myths, stories, and legends that people tell to scare the children.”
The amused look in his half-lidded gaze tells you otherwise.
Yokai. You invited a monster into your own home.
Gingerly, he lets go of your hands. “Scream and I’ll rip your throat out.” He whispers carefully, a promise that you weren’t eager to break.
“What do you want?” You tried one last time to bargain with the smiling man, “Please, I’ll do anything.”
The bed dips and he moves closer until you can count each dark lash that sweeps across his haughty cheekbones.
“I want my payment little one. Do you know how I got hurt?”
His long arms cage you against the bed once more and he grabs your waist, bunching the fabric of your oversized sleeping shirt until your bare thighs are exposed. “I’ve been watching you.” Your top button comes undone under clever fingers, “Do you know how many yokai longed to snatch you into their grasp every time you step into the forest with your pretty skirts and wooden basket? Bouncing around with your tits without a care of how dangerous it was.” The second button is flicked away casually as you peered up at him in muted shock. “I killed my own kind,” the last button is opened and your shirt falls open to reveal your naked body to his gaze.
“To protect you.” He laughs and kisses your cheek tenderly, he’s clearly wary of his own strength around you. The fact that he’s holding himself back shouldn’t make you feel relieved, but it does anyway. “To keep you mine. So that every other beast in the woods knew that you belonged to Tendou Satori”
You didn't know that monsters had names.
One look into his eyes tells you the answer you’ve been dying to know. The ravenous, snarling want that burns in the depths of his bright eyes. You’ve never felt so vulnerable before as you laid bare before him, his desire seems to reach even your wavering soul.
All of a sudden, he leans back on his heels and you get your first clear view of the man. Tall and lean, his red hair curls close to his nape yet something about his sharp face caused a stab of interest in you. He’s attractive, not like the bumbling fools in your village that can barely look at you squarely in the eye without tripping over their own boots. He has a wicked charm that they lack. And monster or not, that confidence of his is drawing you into his magnetism.
The slope of his shoulders rises and falls under the ragged t-shirt and you catch a silver of pale smooth skin under the fabric when he moves. The bulge between his legs doesn't go unnoticed and the fear of what’s to come next makes your heart pound uncomfortably against your rib.
He’s a monster, you remind yourself. A monster here to claim your body before devouring you whole. Maybe a fate under the bloody claws of the other yokai would have been better.
The weight of his gaze drags lazily down from your face, down to your tits until he stops at your thighs where they are pressed together in an attempt for modesty. A luxury that he was going to strip from you with perfect glee.
You flinch when he moves, expecting his rough grip to render you immobile and have his way with your body. Instead, the only thing touching your shivering body is the cool night air. Against your better judgment, you look at him from under your lashes- awaiting his instructions like a good little girl and you want to slap yourself at the thought.
Of course, he notices the doe-eyed look that you give him immediately. “Aw, you’re waiting for me to tell you what to do?” He croons in an almost melodic lilt and your face heats up at the condescension in his voice.
“Touch yourself.” Once again, his command stuns you into silence. What? Is he trying to humiliate you? You glare at him before you can stop yourself and-, you really have to stop looking at his eyes. Because every time you do, there’s a flutter of interest that sparks in your veins when you meet his golden gaze. “Do you know how many times I’ve heard your sweet voice bleeding through the forest, tempting me to take you right that very moment?” Tendou said in a strained voice as you gape at him. “You aren’t as quiet as you think you are.”
You had half the mind to bolt out of the room now but one look at the muscles on his body tells you that you wouldn’t even be able to move before he pounces on you. Only one way to survive.
He inches between your legs when you part them. You keep your stubborn gaze on the wooden ceiling but it’s hard to keep the burning shame out of your tense body when his overwhelming presence is just inches away from you. You pretend not to feel each hot breath from him when you slide two fingers into your own mouth and coat them with your saliva before you ease them between your legs.
You can hear his breath hitch when you part your folds of your glossy slit and you continue to glare imaginary holes at your poor ceiling when you brush your index finger over your clit. and slip your finger into your pussy. The heat between your legs builds up along with your movements despite how hard you try to fight. Although the pleasure is unwanted; nevertheless, it’s still the steady rise of pleasurable warmth that threatens to tear a moan out of your throat. Immediately, you catch your bottom lip between your teeth before the sound can slip past.
He moves fast. Faster than when he tried to bite you. One moment he’s at the foot of your bed and at the other, Tendou is looming over your body and your fingers falter in your cunt. He’s breathing hard as if he just ran miles. “I didn’t tell you to stop.” He smirks and one large hand finds its way to your chin where he forces your mouth to fall open, along with your soft mewl. Your cheeks are burning, and you pray that he doesn’t notice how his voice makes your cunt pulse.
The amusement written all over his face tells a different story.
Tendou’s thumb brushes across your cheekbone carefully, a mockery of a lover’s touch, like he’s sweet-talking to a precious lover. It’s hard to stifle the budding fear in your body when you know that he can break your bones if he presses just a tad bit too hard but his delicate touch felt like fire. The same flush of heat when the ichor had burned at your skin earlier, but this one is gentler, trailing tendrils of sparks across your smooth skin in its wake.
You crook your fingers a little deeper and mewl when you hit that sweet spot inside of your walls. His composure snaps at the sound of your voice filling the heated space between your bodies. A single finger tilts your chin up, his lanky frame bending down to kiss you and you can feel his slitted tongue on yours. You heard a hitched gasp from your mouth as he kisses you with a sort of controlled urgency. He parts your mouth under his and you whimper, like a kitten begging for attention. Attention that he reciprocates when he leans forward to press you against the pillows a little harder as the kiss becomes hard and fast and messy as it steals your breath away.
Tendou curls his fingers around your wrist and pulls your hand away from your dripping cunt. At the same time, he breaks away from you, a strand of saliva still connecting your tongue to his before it drips down to your heaving chest.
“I want you,” He growls, his earlier semblance of courtesy is thrown out the window. The shift in his gaze goes from bare restraint to maniacal. “On my cock right now.”
There is no chance for you to answer him because he’s already manhandling you onto his lap with as much effort as one would exert when picking up a straw doll. His calloused fingers dig into the flesh of your hips and his free hand yanks down his own tattered slacks. You’d be lying if you said your body wasn’t moving on its own, your messy greedy cunt turns the sheets wet as you wiggle your hips closer against your better judgment. But Tendou lays a firm hand on your thigh to stop you from squirming.
His cock throbs wetly against your bare thigh and it takes everything in you not to stare dumbly at his cock. It’s the perfect girth, a little more on the longer side with an upward curve as a pearly drop of precum oozes out of the flushed tip. Your body quivers at the thought of putting it in you and his cock twitches against your thigh before he guides your trembling fingers around the shaft and wraps your softer hands around it.
Once you get a rhythm going, he lets your hands go, content to watch you jerk him off. It’s humiliating how your slender fingers can barely close properly around his length.
Unlike you, Tendou shows no signs of hiding the guttural pleasure when you stroke his cock, feeling it throb warmly against your small palm and dragging against every bulging vein from the hilt all the way to the top until your hands are sticky with his arousal. “Shit wanna fuck that smart mouth of yours.” His hips jerk upwards unconsciously as you stroke him. “But that can wait for another day.” The imagery of you choking on his cock shoved all the way down your throat, drool slipping out your mouth, long lashes heavy with tears as he uses you for his own pleasure makes him choke back a groan. He’d take his time if he wanted to use your mouth, make you arch on the floor at his feet with your ass perked for his greedy gaze, make you plead and whine until he deems that you are obedient enough to taste his cum on your tongue.
Carefully, you align yourself on the tip of his cock. Both of your hands braced against his solid chest as he watches you with a half-lidded gaze. He doesn’t rush you, doesn’t guide you on to his cock. Instead, he’s watching your every move with a burning intensity. He wants you to do it yourself. A fragile thread of control that he offers to you.
It doesn’t mean that it makes it easier for you to ease yourself down. The moment his bulging tip breaches your entrance, your arms are already wavering as his thumbs rub soothing circles over your thighs. “I-I can’t,” you squeak, “You’re too big.” More of your slick drools out to stain your thighs and his crotch. It’s humiliating, to be pleading for the monster to fuck you. Even more so when you’re creaming all over his cock before it’s even fully in.
His thick cock sinks into your tiny cunt inch by inch and you try your best not to let the tears fall. The breath of his heavy exhale ruffles your hair when he hisses out a curse and Tendou’s hips buck upwards until you fall forward onto his chest. A deep husky grown resonates right into your ear when his entire length finally sinks into your pussy, the plush resistance of your cunt is no match for his strength when he continues to guide you on his cock relentlessly.
You’re tight, like your body is too small for him (maybe it is), like your poor cunt is too small to fit his cock. He can even see himself in you, the slight curve of his cock nudging out from your lower belly. You’ve never felt so full, and it feels as if he could reach even deeper and turn your brain into a muddled mess.
“I’ve wanted to fuck this sweet cunt,” he continues to thurst upwards, making the slap of his cock against your clit ring aloud and you mewl as his cock brushes against the spongy spot in you.“Since I saw you picking herbs in the forest, a tiny vulnerable mundane. I had to hold myself back from fucking you in the dirt right there and then, tearing off the skirt and breeding you like my bitch.” Tendou catches on to the way that particular angle has your toes curling and eyes crossing as your tongue lolls out in such a sinfully lewd expression. It’s the best thing he’s ever seen in centuries. Your cunt is all flushed and puffy as he batters into your poor hole at an relentless pace, Tendou has had many victims over the years, but none of them can even hold a flame to you.
He remembers the first time he saw your delicate figure crouched on the dirt as you scoured for berries. Your scent wafting over with the wind hits him like a solid blow to the jaw, has him salivating like a dog whilst you hummed nonchalantly, utterly unaware of the trap that you’d so adorably walked into. Tendou couldn’t claim you, not with so many other yokai prowling around. He’d have to deal with them first before he gets the delicious satisfaction of tasting your body.
His terribly beautiful smile grows wider when he rocks into you sharply, guiding your limp body in time to his cock until you feel like melting into a delirious puddle in his arms. Your cunt flutters tightly around his cock, the yokai could drown into the temptation that was your tight little body. He’s never met a more sinful creature than you, one that beckons him to the ends of hell and back. How ironic that a mere human could cast such an intoxicating spell over a demon that has lived through the fall and rise of empires. The softness of your curves, your tits brushing against his chest each time he bounces you makes him open his mouth so he can catch one of your nipples into his mouth. He flicks his tongue over your pebbled nipples and you squeal aloud at the sensation. Each time you try to jerk your pliant body away, Tendou pins you in place with ease. The savage grip on your waist forces you to remain still and endure each deep drag of your cunt kissing along the edges of his cock.
Even when he was lost in the heat of the pleasure of your tight cunt hugging his cock each time he drew back his hips, Tendou is still careful to rein himself back. He wouldn’t want to hurt his pretty toy on the very first night. There is so much more he can do to you, do with you.
His cockhead nudges against your sensitive spot again and it earns him a delicious moan. “Cute little human, nothing but a whore for my cock aren’t you?” You whimper, tearful eyes meeting him as you nod with your quivering thighs closing weakly around his waist, pulling on him like a devotee pleading for her God’s mercy to make her his. “You were asking for it the moment you invited me back to your home.”
Your neediness makes him arrogant, yokais may feed off a human's fear, but he finds that your pleasure is the drug that sedates his insatiable greed. Your greedy cunt sucks on his cock, eager to milk his balls empty into your tight pussy. A plea that he will comply obediently so that he can fill you with his cum and make you his dumb little slut, reduce you to his precious pet. Tendou is already imagining a future with you, keeping you crooked against his chest and having you serve him by his feet as you sing out holy praises with that sweet, pleading voice of yours. He’d leave a scatter of pretty markings over your neck and flesh, symbols that would tie your soul with his.
How many rounds would you be able to last? Not that he really cared, he would make you come apart as many times as he liked now that you were under his mercy.
Roughly, he angles your neck to his mouth and you don’t fight it, too busy trying to grind desperately against his cock when he sinks his fangs into your throat. He’s marking you. A distant hazy part of your mind echoes a warning when you feel a flare of heat on your skin. Having a yokai’s mark on a human was something that you've never heard of, it meant that you were bound to him eternally. To the monsters, it was a brand of ownership. To other humans, it was the brand of a curse, to inflict any harm on you was to incur the wrath of Tendou himself.
But as bliss spreads through your body, the heavy warmth of his possessive hands all over your body makes you arch towards him, making you lose all sense of what’s right and wrong. You find that you can’t quite bring yourself to care anymore.

Higanbana’s curse - Tendou x reader
Synopsis: Walking the same path you always take back from work proves dangerous after hearing a newsflash about women disappearing on that exact same way and yet you still refuse to take a different route, until you one night come across a very particular individual...
tags/warnings: Tendou x reader ✅ yokai AU ✅ slight Ushijima x reader ✅
A/N: ok so except this being embarrassingly late, this is a story inspired by one of my favorite games Onmyoji & a book by mangaka legend Junji Ito. Sorry if this felt a little rushed at times, but I needed to finish this…last but not least please check out everyone else’s contribution to the church’s AUgust theme and I hope you’ll enjoy this one! ♥️

━━━━☆ ━━━━☆ ━━━━☆
Every single day you were walking past a riverbed on your way home, taking in the gorgeous natural display as you let your mind drift off into nothingness. The fresh air, the sound of the flowing river beside you, and the way the crickets chirped provided you with a wonderful way to just forget about everything and simply let yourself go.
“Aah, how I miss these days…” you whispered to yourself as you typed something on your computer. Lately, you’ve been getting off work later than usual and were more or less forced to take the public means of transport, so that you were home earlier and had enough time to get ready for the following day.
You sighed and resumed your work when suddenly someone lightly tapped your shoulder. As you looked up you saw your boss and childhood friend Wakatoshi Ushijima who looked down at you with his usual small smile. Before you could ask him whether he needed anything he beat you to the draw and ordered you to finish up for the day. You wanted to protest, saying that you hadn’t finished what you were working on and explaining how so many things have to be checked, but he was more persistent than you.
“(Y/N), I told you that you should finish for today, I’ll take care of anything urgent.”
“But Waka, I–!”
“No buts. For these past few weeks you’ve been leaving the office later than anyone else…it's time for you to take a break. Please, do it for me.”
Seeing someone who was over six feet look at you with puppy eyes was a pretty unusual sight for anyone who wasn’t used to it and despite the many times you'd tried to stay strong, you always fail and eventually give in.
Today wasn’t any different.
You pouted, stuttered, and lost against him, and now you were at the familiar fork road that led to either the bus station or the riverbed. It didn’t take you long to decide which way you would go because all you wanted right now was to find your inner peace after so long.
With slow steps you walked alongside the river and relished the feeling of the chilly night air on your cheeks…and then you stopped.
A few meters in front of you stood a tall and lean man surrounded by some red flowers. He was too far away from you so you couldn’t quite make out any of his features and the moonlight was of no help either. Nevertheless, something seemed off about him and the way he just stood there, facing the river, surrounded by these beautiful red flowers…
W-Wait a second…red flowers?
You squint your eyes and try to remember whether you’ve ever seen this flowerbed before but no matter how hard you thought about it there was never a memory of yours that included them. When your eyes focused on the man you unconsciously took a few small steps forward so that you could see him better.
His hair color was red, its shade resembling one of the flowers around him, the color of his eyes wasn’t entirely visible from where you were standing, but you could’ve sworn that they were red as well.
A little creeped out by this tall person who hadn’t moved a single muscle since your arrival and was just staring at the calm river in front of him, prompted you to start leaving.
“The moon is truly marvelous tonight, wouldn’t you say so, young lady?”
The sudden voice of the man startled you and made you freeze up on the spot. With bated breath you stood there, a few meters behind him, waiting on him to say something else. When what you waited for never came you took the initiative and answered with a slightly shaking voice: “I-It indeed is.”
You waited once more, wondering if he had something else to say but all that followed was silence.
“Well then…I’ll take my leave” you announced and started backing away. Once you weren’t facing him anymore, you sped up and failed to notice the pair of red eyes that glanced in your direction.
Despite missing that small and seemingly reasonless gesture, the encounter with the rather peculiar man who was surrounded by a red flowerbed stayed in your mind for quite some time. You even caught yourself wondering about him during your work at the office. His existence had left such an impression behind that even your childhood friend Ushijima wondered whether something was up with you.
“If you’re not feeling well, then don't hesitate to tell me alright?“
You’d nodded and you couldn’t help but admit that your behavior was indeed quite concerning. Meeting someone by the riverbed with an unnatural hair color wasn’t that weird of an occurrence so why couldn’t you get your mind off of it?
Just what was going on with you?
As you were mumbling away to yourself a sudden announcement from your colleague’s laptop caught your attention.
𝙶𝚘𝚘𝚍 𝚊𝚏𝚝𝚎𝚛𝚗𝚘𝚘𝚗 𝚍𝚎𝚊𝚛 𝚌𝚒𝚝𝚒𝚣𝚎𝚗𝚜. 𝚆𝚎 𝚒𝚗𝚝𝚎𝚛𝚛𝚞𝚙𝚝 𝚝𝚘𝚍𝚊𝚢’𝚜 𝚙𝚛𝚘𝚐𝚛𝚊𝚖 𝚠𝚒𝚝𝚑 𝚊 𝚗𝚎𝚠𝚜𝚏𝚕𝚊𝚜𝚑 𝚌𝚘𝚗𝚌𝚎𝚛𝚗𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚕𝚊𝚝𝚎𝚜𝚝 𝚍𝚎𝚟𝚎𝚕𝚘𝚙𝚖𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚜 𝚒𝚗 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚘𝚍𝚍 𝚍𝚒𝚜𝚊𝚙𝚙𝚎𝚊𝚛𝚊𝚗𝚌𝚎𝚜 𝚘𝚏 𝚗𝚞𝚖𝚎𝚛𝚘𝚞𝚜 𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚗𝚐 𝚠𝚘𝚖𝚎𝚗 𝚒𝚗 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚊𝚛𝚎𝚊—
“Excuse me, miss?“ someone called out as they placed their hand gently on your shoulder, their action making you flinch and turn your entire attention away from the news anchor.
Next to you was one of your colleagues whom you often saw work alongside your childhood friend. He gave you a small note and asked you to go meet with the boss once you finished what you were doing.
As you typed away at the computer in front of you, you faintly caught some of the worried comments from your seat neighbor.
Isn’t this close to the bus stop down the road?
God, maybe I should call my boyfriend to pick me up, what do you think?
——
“You wanted to see me?” you asked the moment you were permitted to enter the thick wooden door you’d gently knocked on seconds prior. In front of you was your tall and muscular boss whose tired expression immediately shifted into a more relieved one when he saw you.
“God am I glad to see that you’re still in the office,“ he began as he trotted towards you and released a long sigh of relief, “look if you’d like you can leave some of today’s work for tomorrow or give it to one of your juniors-”
“Ok hold on, timeout!” you interrupt as you stare up at the man in front of you and ask just what has gotten into him to pose such unnatural demands from you.
Ushijima is usually someone who lives by the principle that everyone has their own set of work that needs to be done and leaving your work to someone else, a junior in your care no less, is something he usually would like to avoid, and only tolerates at the worst-case scenarios like your health not being in perfect condition or simply wanting to train the newcomers in a more specific field. So having him demand this from you without properly explaining his reasons had you a little worried and confused.
“What…? You haven’t heard?”
“Heard of what exactly?”
“Those disappearances that occurred around that route you always take to the bus stop” he then proceeded to explain with slightly widened eyes.
Now things are starting to add up…
“Waka…I understand that you’re worried - as always - but it’s completely unnecessary. I’m not the same small girl from back then and can look out for myself pretty well s-”
“I know that and I don’t doubt you at all, bu-”
Before he could continue his train of thoughts, you put up both of your fingers, signalizing him to shut up and listen as you thanked him for his opinion on that matter and that you’d be extra careful and quick on the way home. After you’d told him that you hurried off to finish up the rest of your work and finally call it a day…
——
With hasty steps, you passed along the familiar riverbed, but tonight you couldn’t quite enjoy your surroundings. Both the words of your childhood friend and the newsflash from before replayed and plagued your mind. According to them, the route you were on right now was notorious for being the spot where all those young girls had started disappearing.
Now, you could’ve taken the other path, the painfully longer and more uneven one, but all you wanted now was to go back home, take a warm shower, and cuddle yourself up in your bed and if this way would bring you to your destination quicker, then so be it.
“Ah, young lady,” someone exclaimed, catching you off guard. You turned your head to the source of the voice and there he was: the red-haired stranger you’d met a while ago. He was once again standing amidst, what you finally recognized to be a bed of red spider lilies.
You stopped in your tracks, greeted, and faced him with a small smile. Now that you were a tad closer to each other than last time, you managed to take a good and pretty long look at your counterpart. As you’d noted last time, he was pretty lanky and tall, but from up close you could see that his entire complexion seemed a bit…unhealthy. The color of his skin was a frightening shade of white, one that you’d usually associate with ghosts or sick people, his rather baggy clothing additionally made him look more fragile than he probably was, but the perhaps most prominent trait of the young man was his face. The vibrant red of both his eyes and hair failed to go unnoticed when paired with his pale skin tone and you’d even go as far as to say that this combination was…beautiful.
“Are you taking a night stroll as well?“ he then asked the moment your eyes had started focusing on his slightly pink but chapped lips, immediately bringing your attention back to him.
“Um, y-yeah I am…wha-”
“The moon is truly marvelous tonight, wouldn’t you say so, young lady?”
You paused mid-sentence after being interrupted and with a slightly confused expression looked up at the night sky to confirm what you were asked.
I could’ve sworn that he asked me the same question the first time we met…
As you tried to remember whether this indeed was the case, you missed how the young man had shortened the distance between you both and was now standing uncomfortably close to you. You were already disturbed enough with all those rumors going around and you really weren’t in the mood to deal with whatever awaited you with this red-haired guy, so you tried to distance yourself from him as unobtrusively as possible, excuse yourself and be on your way, but that’s when something hit you.
“Excuse me, sir, b-”
“Please, feel free to call me Tendou”
“…right, Tendou” you repeated with a slightly pissed-off tone before continuing, “have you heard of that kidnapper who’s been on the loose around this area? Or have you perhaps seen something out of the ordinary?”
The moment those questions left your mouth you realized just how truly stupid that move was. For all, you know Tendou could actually be the kidnapper in question, but look at you acting like some kind of detective, trying to interrogate him.
Much to your surprise though he didn’t seem offended or anything like that, he was pretty calm…too calm.
His eyelids were so relaxed that his eyes were half-closed and gave off the impression of him being extremely tired, paired with the inviting way of him extending his arm towards you, and the silent suggestion of joining him on a small stroll lead you to completely lowering your guard, ignoring all those ringing alarm bells in the back of your head and wordlessly agreed to do so.
Once his big and cold hand had enveloped your own smaller one, he smiled a little and began: “I’d like to tell you a small story surrounding these beautiful red lilies…“
The melodic sound of his voice made your brain turn into mush and removed any doubt, rational thought, or suspicion you harbored for Tendou and his behavior…it was almost like he was hypnotizing you.
“There was once a bed of nothing but spider lilies near the river that connected all three worlds. All were equally beautiful, but only one of them was blessed with an actual consciousness. Being so different from the rest made her long for more strength, so she started feeding off of the surrounding lost souls, until…” he paused and stretched his arm out to the moon, as if he wanted to grab it and with a small smile continued “…she had enough power to gain a human body.”
Another slightly longer pause followed in which the two of you continued walking alongside the riverbed in silence until Tendou let go of you and began running with such determination that you seriously feared he’d jump into the river. Luckily, he stopped mere centimeters before the cold water, eyes cast down to his reflection, shoulders slumped, eyes glistening.
“She had enough of the souls from the underworld, so she ventured out to the surface where nothing but light awaited…light she wasn't used to.”
“Her inhuman beauty was brought out by the daily rays of sunshine and managed to make her more eye-catching than she already was. Soon, both men and women began getting attracted to her and she used this to her advantage, consuming their souls as soon as they’d gotten too close.”
…
…
“Mister Tendou?” you eventually called out as his moment of silence went on for an unnaturally long time. You saw him tense up after his name had left your lips and expected him to turn around and face you, but he didn’t. Without moving even an inch from his position he finally resumed.
“One day, she met someone special, someone, she didn’t have the heart to consume…someone she fell in love with.”
“She was so fond of that person that she wanted to bring them down with her to the river of life, but that human had other people that were looking out for him, so when she had taken him with herself, an experienced fighter was sent out to stop the beautiful flower from reaching that river with her loved one.”
Suddenly Tendou took a step forward, the water wettening his shoes, then another…and another, until he was knee-deep in the river.
“Just before the beauty and her beloved arrived at the bridge, the warrior arrived and didn’t hesitate to attack her, cursing her for ever stepping a foot in the outside world.”
“Being on the receiving end of insults was a first for her and as expected she didn’t take that too well…she slowly lost her composure and gradually got more aggressive, until she as well began to fight.”
You looked at the red-haired man’s back as he scooped up some water in his hands and looked at it. The story of that woman - or better-said creature - was like nothing you’ve ever heard or read before.
Did it sound like some made-up fairytale?
Yes, it did and no matter how hard you tried to cling to the fact that the situation you were in was simply nothing else but awkward, something about the sight of a tall, young, and oh so beautiful young man, now hips deep in cold water, made you want to stay and listen to that little story of his. That’s what you thought anyway, but unbeknownst to you, the decision to stay had already been made by someone else, not you.
“The fight went on for quite a while and slowly but surely began to escalate, until…he got in between to protect the beauty he’d followed, and…” he took a deep breath and let the collected water from his hands slowly drip back in the river “…and paid with his life for it”
“So the lover died protecting her” you murmured to yourself and clenched your fists at the thought of how much despair the flower spirit must’ve felt.
“Devastated by the loss of her loved one, she cried out to the heavens, cursing everyone and everything around her, including herself for being so powerless that she couldn’t protect him, and in the end…she did the only thing she could do”
“Consume his soul?”
“And his body”
Tendou finally turned around with glassy eyes and a rather emotionless expression. He looked so broken and helpless that you wanted nothing more but to get him out of that cold water and wrap your scarf around him in a desperate attempt to warm him up even a little, but before you could even put your thoughts into action you got startled by the way he slammed his hand against the water.
“Do you know how it feels to be treated like a monster because of the way you look? People shunning you for the way you enjoy things? Calling your existence a curse…and all you can do is smile and take it.”
The way his body trembled made it evident that whatever he was thinking of right now had hurt him deeply.
“(Y/N)…you understand me, don’t you?”
At the mention of your name, you froze up.
“How did y-”
Before you could ask anything, the phone in your pocket started vibrating and ringing a very familiar tone which you’d specially assigned to a certain childhood friend of yours.
“E-Excuse me for a minute, I need to answer this real quick” you apologized and turned your back to Tendou who smiled to himself.
“Waka?”
(Y/N)? Finally, you answered. I've been trying to get in touch with you for almost an hour, why aren’t you answering my messages?
“I’m sorry, I was-”
A cold hand suddenly covered up your mouth while the other took your phone from your grip. You felt the way someone pressed their cheek on yours and grinned, that someone being none other than Tendou.
“I asked you a question (Y/N)…”
“…you understand me, don’t you?”
——
“(Y/N)!”
The shout of the man who’d called mere minutes ago echoed through the dark path, his usually calm facial features were distorted from worry about his dear friend whom he regretted letting go home alone.
His heart was thumping hard against his chest and no matter how hard he tried to stay positive, the fact that he still hadn’t found who he was looking for made him even more anxious than he already was. Just as he was about to call out once more he saw a dark figure near a river and a small flowerbed. He steadied his pace and as he got closer a wave of relief washed over him the moment the person’s features cleared up and revealed his childhood friend.
“(Y/N)! Thank god I finally found you!”
“…Waka?”
The way the man in question had wrapped his arms around you, caught you off guard, so it took you a short while to return his embrace but he was quicker and had let go of you already. Olive-colored eyes scanning your body up and down, confirming your wellbeing, only when he’d made sure that you were unharmed, he finally looked at you properly, explaining how after you’d broken off the phone call he’d immediately clocked out and had looked for you.
“Oh, right my phone…” you repeated and started feeling your pockets up in search for the device. The man before you understood the message and started looking around as well until he saw the familiar case lying on the ground next to a red spider lily a couple of steps away from you two. Ushijima went ahead and picked it up, his eyes focused on the flower beside it.
“It’s beautiful isn’t it?”
Hearing your voice so close to his ear made him flinch, but seeing you so close to him made him smile as he remembered the fun times in your childhood. You usually didn’t get that close to him so he never properly noticed just how beautiful you’d become. In his eyes, you had always been a charming person, but there was something different about you now that he couldn’t quite describe.
“Mhm…they are” he finally answered, his line of vision never leaving your face.
When your eyes met your cheeks reddened slightly and you couldn’t help but smile at him.
“Wakatoshi…I’d like to tell you a small story surrounding these beautiful red lilies…”

Furrowing your brows, you looked at Tendo with a mix of exasperation and unadulterated dismay.
“An abandoned amusement park. On Halloween?” Kaori asked before you could, eyebrows disappearing into her bangs. “You cannot be serious, Tendo.”
If he was put off by your reactions, he didn’t show it. If anything, he was probably relishing in it, and said, “Yes, yes I am. It’ll be fun. Come on, do you really just wanna get drunk at a boring house party on Halloween?”
You snorted at that, stirring your coffee as you said, “As opposed to getting murdered at an amusement park? That’s like, straight out of a horror movie, Tendo.”
“You guys are so boring,” he whined, slumping forward across the table. Shirabu grumbled under his breath, glaring at Tendo as he nudged his drink closer to Shirabu’s textbook. “Look, it’ll be so cool! Exploring all the abandoned funhouses and imagine how freaky the haunted houses will be! Just think about it, okay?”
The looks everyone exchanged said they had and had already made up their minds, but you nodded anyway, if for no other reason than to appease him.
A moment later, your alarm went off and you bid them goodbye, walking towards the door with Shirabu for your next lecture. You were sure as shit not going to an abandoned anything this weekend.
Except somehow, against all odds, you were piled up in the back of Konoha’s car, crammed beside someone who had been introduced to you as Akaashi Keiji. He was a friend of Bokuto’s and Konoha’s and, upon hearing about your adventure, asked if he could tag along. If you had to peg him, he was more the librarian type than a ghost hunter type-- soft spoken and well mannered with pretty blue eyes that closed slightly when he smiled.
In the front seat were Konoha-- driving-- and Yachi, currently fighting with the radio and Konoha’s phone.
In the car behind you was someone named Kuroo-- also a friend of Bokuto and Akaashi-- Kaori, Goshiki, and Semi-- a friend of Shirabu, Goshiki, and Tendo. Kuroo was almost ecstatic to be going, but Semi had seemed like he would rather be doing anything else as he climbed into the passenger seat of Kuroo’s car.
The car in front contained Tendo, Bokuto, Yukie, and-- god bless him-- Shirabu. You were sure he was losing his mind as Tendo guided him towards the location of the amusement park. The details on how exactly this had come about were lost on you, but you vaguely recalled a drunken bet made two nights ago and a video that Tendo refused to share properly, but assured you was proof that the group had agreed to the terms of said bet and then lost. Spectacularly. Supposedly.
“So, how did you meet everyone?” Akaashi asked, turning to look at you. The scenery outside was turning quickly from civilization to wilderness, the trees growing thicker the further you drove until you couldn’t tell one trunk from the next.
Humming, you rested your chin in your hand, bracing your elbow on the door. This was the worst part of meeting someone new during a trip-- tedious small talk. But you had to start somewhere, so you said, “I met Kaori in one of our classes and ‘Toka-- er, Yachi--” The girl turned around at the sound of her name and waved. “-- is my roommate. They kind of introduced me to everyone else.”
Truth be told, you weren’t sure how they had become your core group of friends. From loud and boisterous Bokuto to sullen and taciturn Shirabu, you adored all of them, but you had had your own group of friends before meeting them. Most of those old friends had faded from sight as you found yourself absorbed in your new ones and, while a part of you felt bad, it was just a part of life.
“What about you?” you asked, glancing at him from the corner of your eye. “How do you know them?”
Konoha snickered from the front seat and Akaashi cut him a glare before turning back to you. “I’ve been friends with Konoha, Bo, and Tetsuro since highschool. Kaori and Yukie were our managers,” he said.
Konoha made a turn onto a road who’s name sign had long since fallen off the rusty pole, and you wondered just how far out you had traveled. It didn’t feel like it had been long since you left, but you recognized nothing around you and there was no sign of life.
“So, everyone but ‘Toka and I were friends in highschool, huh?” You chuckled. “What are the odds?”
Akaashi laughed with you, fiddling with his fingers as he turned back to look out his window.
The car was now filled with the sound of music, overtaking the silence that fell between the four of you. Konoha was focused on driving and you knew Yachi was more than a little nervous-- you had almost expected her to back out and accept whatever payback Tendo had planned for it afterwards.
“Do any of you guys know anything about this place?” you asked, leaning forward and resting your chin on Yachi’s seat. Through the windshield, you could see Tendo’s shaved head and Bokuto’s spiky locks in the backseat, and worried for poor Shirabu’s sanity. “How did Tendo even know this place existed?”
“It’s an old legend,” Akaashi spoke up softly.
Both you and Yachi turned to look at him, the latter’s breath hitching because everyone knew when those words were said, the story was going to be unpleasant.
Konoha cursed as he hit a pothole, muttering Tendo’s name under his breath as he righted the car between the faded lane lines, and Akaashi smiled at that before looking back to you.
“I doubt most people have heard of it,” he began, popping his knuckles one at a time. “It’s more of a local thing, really.”
“Well then how do you know about it?” you asked curiously, quirking a brow. You knew Bokuto grew up in Tokyo, which meant Akaashi had as well, and you were well outside of the city limits.
Akaashi smiled, tipping his head to the side and for the first time there was something other than soft indifference in it. “I enjoy these types of places and legends. It’s a hobby, you might say. This particular amusement park was meant to be scary in nature and didn’t stay open for long due to unexplained deaths and disappearances.”
Yachi squeaked, and you cast her a glance before resting your hand on her shoulder. This was probably not the best story for someone as easily scared as she was, but it was too late now, and you knew there was curiosity beneath the fear.
“That sounds way too vague,” you said, lips curling up at the corners. “That’s what everyone says about places like this. It’s not scary.”
Your skepticism was met with laughter and he said, “True. The police at the time pinned the problems on faulty attractions or poor background checks, saying there must have been a serial killer hired without anyone realizing. Sounds to me like they just couldn’t figure out what was causing it.”
You rolled your eyes, nodding along. If the park was as old as Tendo said, it could really have been faulty attractions, but you weren’t buying the serial killer story. It sounded too far-fetched compared to being crushed by an unstable support beam.
Akaashi continued, voice dropping in what might have been a scary attempt at atmosphere if the sun wasn’t framing his pretty features in a golden glow behind him. “The locals all said that the place was haunted, too many deaths had built up negative energy, trapping the spirits of those killed there. Unable to escape, they grew angry and the deaths continued until authorities labeled the park unsafe and banned any more visitors. And then--”
“What the hell?” Konoha cut him off, hitting the brakes a little harder than necessary.
Akaashi’s seat belt locked and he grunted, rubbing at the new red mark on his neck as he asked, “What’s going on?”
“Dunno,” Konoha replied, putting the car in park. “Sorry about that. Shirabu is getting out of the car.”
The car behind you pulled up as you were getting out, eyes wide as you watched Tendo lay a map out on the trunk of Shirabu’s car.
“We’re lost,” you said, sighing in exasperation.
A tall figure blocked out the sun in front of you and you squinted up into the face of Kuroo. He was giving you a catlike grin, ruffling his messy rooster hair as he said, “Sure seems that way, princess. This place is in the middle of nowhere. I’ll be surprised if we even find it.” He guided you over to the car where the others were gathered, snickering at the look of surprise on your face. “What?”
“You know about this place too?” you asked, glancing at Akaashi on the other side of the car. He cast you a small, closed eyed smile. “Akaashi was telling us about it in the car.”
Kuroo chuckled, raising a brow at his friend. “Yeah, being friends with Akaashi has its share of hazards.”
“Look, I’m pretty sure we’re here,” Tendo said, interrupting your conversation. He was pointing to a small line that looked just like any other on the map, aside from the major roadways and cities. If he was right, you were a decent ways out of the city and your watch read 1:01pm. “If we just follow this road and then this one, it’ll lead us straight past the village and to the park.”
Shirabu looked skeptical, spinning the map around to look at it as well. He wasn’t exactly wrong but how could he really tell? All the smaller roads looked the same and they couldn’t even confirm the name of the road because there was no sign. It had also been ages since they last saw a house or even another car, so asking anyone was out of the question too.
“This is stupid,” he sighed, running his fingers through his hair. No one besides Tendo really wanted to be there-- he ignored the fact that Kuroo was just as excited as his weirdo friend to be going and that Akaashi had jumped at the opportunity as well-- and it would be so much easier to just turn around and go to Hinata’s party. “We should just go home before we get lost.”
Tendo frowned at that, sharing a look with Kuroo before saying, “We aren’t lost*. It’s not much further now. Just trust me.”
The others were all inclined to agree with Shirabu, you included, but arguing with Tendo was like arguing with a brick wall-- pointless. He had already tricked you into agreeing to this endeavor and at this point backing out would be both a waste of time and gas. Shirabu was too smart to get lost anyway but, if you were lucky, Tendo was wrong and you wouldn’t be able to find the place at all.
“Do you really think we’ll be able to find it?” Yachi asked once you were safely back in the car.
Akaashi hummed beside you, but you said, “God I hope not. I was looking forward to Hinata’s party and if we get back quick enough we might still make it.”
Konoha looked at you in the rearview, eyes crinkled as he snickered. “What, are you scared, _____? Afraid the ghosts are gonna get ya?”
Scoffing, you dug through your bag for your phone. A check an hour ago had revealed one bar, but now the words ‘No Service’ blazed across the service banner. “No, I’m not scared. There are just a thousand better things to be doing that than breaking my neck on rusty amusement park rides.”
“Sounds like cowardice to me,” he answered, laughing at you through the mirror.
Sticking your tongue out at him, you turned back to the window, sighing as the scenery passed by in a blur. Konoha and Akaashi talked a lot about volleyball, Yachi pitching in occasionally. You knew she had managed her highschool volleyball team and knew everyone else in the group to some degree, but most everything sports related went over your head.
Still, Akaashi made some effort to get to know you, asking about highschool and what classes you were taking. You told him about your major and asked what his was, finding out he was a literature major and constantly busy, explaining why you had never met him before. He, Kuroo, and Semi were the busiest out of all their friends, often skipping out on get togethers in order to study, work, or-- in Semi’s case-- practice with his band.
A little while later, while Yachi and Konoha were having a heated discussion about their favorite subjects, you caught the first glimpse of something besides trees. Turning to look out the windshield, you saw brake lights already lighting up and the car began to slow.
“Well, we found the village, at least,” Tendo said, reading the faded sign displaying the name of the town. “I didn’t expect it to be abandoned too, though.”
Everyone was gathered in the middle of the road, looking down the mainstreet of the village. Windows were busted out and boarded up, paint faded on rotten clapboards, and roofs missing tiles or riddled with holes. The street was littered with potholes and the whole town had an eerie sense of unnatural quiet. Everyone shifted on their heels, slowly making their way back towards the cars without a word and piling in.
Even Tendo looked unnerved.
The town disappeared behind you but in the distance you could see the towering track of a roller coaster above the treeline. Even from so far away you could see that the paint was faded off of it, the sun filtering through clouds and casting the whole area in shades of grey. To you, it seemed like the forest was darker, the trees packed more closely together, and your heart began to thump in your chest.
“You okay?” Akaashi’s gentle voice asked in your ear. His hand landed on your shoulder, colder than expected, and you shivered underneath his touch. “You look like you’ve already seen a ghost.”
You nodded, looking over to find him giving you a look of amused concern, one corner of his mouth turned up in a half smile. “Just nervous. That town was creepy as hell and it freaked me out a little.”
“Me too!” Yachi squeaked from the front seat, turning around to give you a pleading look. “Don’t you dare leave me, _____.”
Laughter filled the car then and you patted Yachi on the shoulder. “Wouldn’t dream of it, ‘Toka.”
The towering sign for the park appeared up ahead and the car fell silent all over again as brake lights lit up again. Broken glass and gravel littered the parking lot, which was smaller than expected for how big the park looked.
Everyone seemed to hesitate on getting out of the cars. Tendo was the first, followed by Kuroo, and then Akaashi. Like it was a signal, the rest of you followed, Yachi clinging onto your hand and Kuroo and Akaashi seeming to stand behind you protectively, close enough that you could feel warmth radiating off them.
“Do we really have to go in there?” Goshiki asked, eyeing the ticket booth with disdain. The paint on it, like everything else, was faded, the wood rotten and the window and door busted out. The latter creaked on its hinges, filling the still air with an unsettling noise that mixed with the faint sounds of creaking metal and leaves fluttering in the wind.
Everyone shuffled back towards the cars a little at his question, but Tendo took a step forward, resting his hand on the turnstile. “Since we’re actually here, may as well take a look around.”
Without another moment of hesitation, he hopped over it, peering around with an unusually quiet interest. It was the first time since you had met Tendo that he had nothing to say, his already pale face seemingly devoid of color, making his vibrant, sleepy eyes pop out even more.
Groaning, you, Shirabu, and Goshiki stepped forward, dragging Yachi with you as you climbed over the turnstile as well. You couldn’t just let Tendo wander off into the dangerous park alone. The others followed suit, muffled whispers and conversations floating through the air as they spread out in the area.
The forest had started taking back over through the concrete, weeds and grass sprouting up through the cracks and pushing the cobblestones up and out of place. Vines of ivy and moss hung from the powerpoles, vendor booths, and some attractions further back, swaying in the gentle breeze. The buildings were dark inside, but through the gloom you could make out mannequins and shelves devoid of merchandise.
The bell dinged on the first one Tendo pushed open-- a souvenir shop. It was empty except for dust and garbage, as were the next few you entered.
Slowly but surely the group made their way further into the park, Yachi clinging onto you the whole time. Akaashi and Kuroo were right behind the two of you, Shirabu and Semi in front, forming a kind of guard while Tendo and Bokuto led the way. Kaori clung to Goshiki, who looked like he was putting on a brave front despite his pink cheeks and the nervousness in his eyes.
For all his grumbling, Shirabu looked interested as he eyed all the buildings and machinery. It was quiet, devoid even of the sound of birdsong or humming bugs, and it unsettled you.
“Oh look, it’s the pirate ship ride!” Bokuto yelled suddenly, breaking the deathly silence.
Everyone jumped, Shirabu hissing at him to shut up while Yukie shrieked, latching onto him. Bokuto had the decency to look abashed but still steered the group towards the derelict platform, testing his weight on the creaky metal stairs on his way up.
The deck of the ship was littered with leaves and dust, the seats worn down and showing stuffing and springs after however many years left in the element. There were signs of rust on the metal and the whole thing shifted slightly to emit a creak.
“Um, Bo, I don’t think that’s safe,” Kuroo called out, grabbing your arm to stop you from following up behind him.
Tendo and Goshiki were up beside him, examining the boat itself and, before anyone knew it, the former had hopped into it.
“Tendo!” Shirabu called, a trace of panic in his voice. His fingers were wrapped around the railing, paint flakes coming away under his touch hand as he prepared to spring up the stairs, but everyone’s eyes were locked on Tendo’s precarious creep down the middle aisle. “Get out of there before you get hurt, idiot!”
“It’s fine, Shirabu,” he called, now standing at the bow. “It’s kinda cool actually. I can see more of the park from here.”
Bokuto landed with a thump a moment later, a louder creak ringing out than when lanky Tendo had landed, and everyone took a collective breath and held it.
But as before, it held, and he joined Tendo up by the bow.
“Wow, he’s right!” he called, holding his hand above his eyes like a visor and peering out over the park. It was certainly bigger than he imagined for being in the middle of nowhere. “There’s a house over that way!”
“Probably the haunted house,” Tendo said, straining to see what Bokuto was looking at. In the distance were two stilted, twisted steeples painted in different hues. One was flamboyant and bright, the other dark and dreary, even compared to the state of disrepair of the rest of the park. “I see a funhouse too, I think. Looks pretty freaky. Wanna check ‘em out?”
“Hell yeah,” Bokuto shouted, whipping around to look at the rest of you.
Shirabu looked ready to blow a gasket, and Yachi looked ready to faint, but everyone else looked intrigued. Even you couldn’t help but be a little curious about it, having free range to explore the most interesting rides in the park. Wasn’t it everyone’s dream to be able to see what they were like without restraint?
The sun was just beginning to fade behind the treeline, turning the clouds a thin shade of orange, but the lure of seeing something interesting had dissolved any real fear.
The two men met Goshiki on the platform and made their way back down to the rest of the group, eyes shining bright with the promise of adventure.
“I told you it wouldn’t be so bad!” Tendo said as if the stunt he just pulled hadn’t taken years off all your lives. Jumping haphazardly onto a decade old, rusted out death trap attraction at an abandoned amusement park hours from the nearest hospital wasn’t going to earn him any genius awards.
On the way towards the supposed attractions, you came across the carousel. Its metal panels were tarnished, the paint worn away from them and the animals, the mirrors grimy with dirt. Vines and ivy climbed up everywhere. The platform shifted when Kuroo stepped onto it, Tendo hot on his heels followed closely by Bokuto.
“Let’s go see, ‘Toka,” you said, tugging her forward by the hand. Kaori took your other one, squeezing, while Akaashi guided you with a gentle hand on your back.
“Look at this,” someone said, and you turned to find Semi holding a faded paper. “It looks like a poster claiming someone was kidnapping people.”
“How the hell is it still here?” Konoha asked, peering at it around Semi’s arm. “It should have disintegrated a long damn time ago.”
“Dunno,” Semi said with a frown. Trying to see the paper, you were crowded against Semi by Yachi and Kaori and flinched when you realized how hot he was. “It was wedged in the frame of the mirror.”
The whole thing was faded but still legible, due presumably to being tucked into the mirror, and appeared to be a flyer issued by the park itself.
Due to the recent disappearances, park security has been tightened. Please stay aware of your surroundings and report and suspicious activity immediately.
“You were right, Akaashi,” you said, glancing up at the man standing behind you. “They really did think someone was kidnapping people.”
“A lot of the people were never found,” Semi said, folding the sheet up neatly and tucking into his pocket. “It’s not surprising they thought that.”
“Ohhhh, maybe the bodies are still here,” Tendo said, wiggling his fingers over Konoha’s shoulders. “Maybe it was actually the workers kidnapping people and they kept the bodies in a secret place.”
“Like where?” Shirabu asked, giving him an exasperated, skeptical look. It was getting late and they were wasting time just hanging around. He wasn’t particularly thrilled at the idea of being in the park after dark, going to possibly the scariest attraction in the place, but if they were going to do it, they needed to just get it done. “The authorities probably tore this place apart looking for them.”
Tendo shrugged, looking thoughtful. “Maybe they hid them in the haunted house. Maybe there’s a hidden room somewhere that only the workers knew how to open.”
“Could you not?” Yukie asked, slapping Tendo on the arm. “We’re going there, in case you forgot, pea brain. Way to freak us out.”
Yachi was clinging onto Kaori now, staring at Tendo with wide, frightened eyes and he almost looked repentant.
“Or, you know, could be anywhere. The haunted house would be a pretty obvious place to hide it, wouldn’t it?” he said, rubbing the back of his head. Beckoning to Yachi, she went reluctantly, letting Tendo tuck her under his arm. “Don’t worry, Yach. I’ll protect you, ‘kay?”
You and Kaori snickered at the shade of red her face turned, and Shirabu sighed.
“Can we just get going before it gets too late?” he asked, turning and leading the way down the path. The shadows were slowly lengthening, orange mixing with shades of pink and purple in the sky.
Semi fell into step beside you, Yukie on your other side. Goshiki and Konoha were having a conversation about the derelict rollercoaster to the right, and you allowed your attention to drift to it. It was eerie, the faded paint and rusted metal tracks looming like a foreboding beacon above you. Staring the way you were, your foot caught a displaced cobblestone and you went sprawling with a yelp.
Before you could smack the ground, a strong, warm hand wrapped around your upper arm and hauled you back up. It hurt, causing a sharp ache in your shoulder, but it still hurt less than the concrete probably would have. Looking up at your savior, you gave him a half smile.
“Thanks, Semi,” you said, rubbing your shoulder.
But he was frowning at you-- not that that was any different than the look he’d worn all day-- but this one was marred by soft concern. “Are you alright? You’re awfully cold.”
“O-Oh. No, I’m fine. Just got distracted by the coaster,” you said, giggling in embarrassment. “It is a bit chilly though, now that you mention it. I didn’t notice.”
There was a moment's hesitation, then the sound of a zipper being drawn down. A weight settled across your shoulders, surrounding you with an unfamiliar cologne, and your cheeks heated up at the realization that he had given you his jacket.
“That’s okay, Semi, really,” you said, shrugging the jacket off. “It isn’t that bad, and it’s my own fault. I left mine in the car.”
“No worries, _____,” he said, and for the first time you could see a small smile on his face in the dim light. “I’m not cold, so you can take it.”
“Well, thanks, I guess,” you said, pulling it back around your shoulders. It was warm and you smiled when you caught him looking at you. He was wearing a peculiar look, kind but almost possessive, and he licked his lips once before looking forward again.
You shivered, unsure if you were just seeing things. The park had rattled your nerves and Semi was just being nice. You didn’t know him well enough to make a judgement call like that and forced down the uneasiness, taking your place beside him again.
“Smooth move, klutz,” Konoha quipped, nudging your back. Goshiki and Shirabu snickered and you flipped them off over your shoulder, looping your other arm with Yukie.
The steepled spires of the haunted house came into view, beside which stood the funhouse, like Tendo said. Both looked terrifying in the dying light of the sun. Like everything else, the paint was almost gone, shingles missing from the roofs which were adorned with holes.
Without thinking, you reached out and grabbed Semi’s arm, pressing yourself to it. He glanced at you for a moment, a soft smile flitting across his face before looking at Tendo, who was staring between the two buildings.
“I wanna go in the funhouse,” Tendo said, turning back to the rest of the group. Setting his hands on his hips, he looked around at everyone. “Should we go as a group?” Kuroo shifted, pointing his feet towards the haunted house. “I kinda wanna go in there, actually.”
“Well no one should go anywhere alone,” Shirabu said firmly, and everyone nodded in agreement. If someone got hurt, no one would know for ages and then there was the long ride back on top of it.
“So we’ll split up. Everyone pick a house,” Tendo said, clapping his hands.
Yukie’s arm around yours disappeared and she scurried over to Tendo, looking at you apologetically. Yachi took her place instead, looking for all the world like she was going to collapse from fright, and you gave her a concerned look.
“I’m going wherever you go,” she said, and you raised a brow.
Before you could answer, Kuroo’s arm slung around your shoulders, looming over Yachi’s tiny form. “It looks like everyone’s decided. Pretty even split. Let’s meet back here in--” He checked his watch. “Two hours? That should be enough time to see everything.”
You opened your mouth to object, but Tendo nodded while Shirabu set the timer on his watch. “Everyone be careful, please. We really can’t afford any injuries.”
Yachi looked up at the dark house looming before you while the other group made their way towards the funhouse.
You could hear Tendo’s voice echo back, saying, “That’s the reason we have you here, Shirabu. You’re a doctor and all.”
Shirabu said something in return, but it was lost in the distance as you were herded towards the haunted house. The doors hung open, swinging in the breeze and creaking. It seemed like the house sucked all the warmth from the air the closer you got to it, and you squeezed Semi’s arm in yours.
“Scared, princess?” Kuroo whispered in your ear, raising the hairs on the back of your neck when his warm breath met your cold skin. “You shouldn’t be. We’re here with you.”
The steps leading into it sagged beneath your weight, the wood softer than it should’ve been and it came as no surprise when one broke beneath Semi’s weight. He cursed while you and Yachi pulled back, keeping him from falling over and potentially hurting himself. It took Akaashi and Kuroo both to pull him up out of the hole and a quick check revealed his jeans had protected his leg.
“Are you alright?” you whispered, looking up into Semi’s unamused face. He was wearing a hard scowl, his grip on you iron clad now as he guided you up the steps.
“Sure,” he said, eyes softening when he looked down at you. “Just annoyed.”
Inside, the light from your phones seemed to be swallowed by the darkness. The dust was thick and the air musty and humid. Cobwebs hung from everything, casting long shadows into the darkness beyond the halo of your flashlights.
Yachi yelped, tripping over a rotted track board and would have dragged you down if you weren’t holding onto Semi so tightly. His heat was almost a comfort now, driving away the persistent chill that seemed to emanate from the ramshackle walls. You couldn’t tell where the fabricated deterioration ended and true rot began.
“This way then?” Akaashi asked, leading the way into the first door. It was the kitchen area, set up to look like a butcher shop. A thick layer of dust settled over everything, motes flurrying through the painfully white light from your phones in an eerie dance that made it even harder to see.
Old props lay on the worn countertops, splotches of what was likely-- hopefully-- fake blood a dark black on the faded wood and laminate. Someone had a hand on your back while Akaashi examined a chain hanging from the ceiling, something hanging from the end of it. It made a strange noise when he pushed it, a crackly, grinding noise like it was rusty. It wouldn’t be a surprise, with the humidity as high as it is.
“That’s a little unsettling,” Kuroo admitted, and you all jumped when a loud crash rang out somewhere further down.
“Now would be the time to leave if we were in a horror movie,” you hinted through gritted teeth, even as Kuroo stepped back out into the hall. He scanned the darkness, his phone hanging by his side, the light pointed towards the floor. “What do you expect to see anyway, genius?”
He turned back to wink before disappearing into the dark and you groaned, straining your eyes to see anything. His light was lost in the gloom and you released Yachi’s arm, taking a step forward. Semi allowed himself to be dragged along with you while Goshiki held Yachi, petting her hair as she whimpered.
Swearing, you and Semi trudged down the hallway, listening for any noises but heard nothing besides the sounds of an old building settling. Your voice caught in your throat when you opened your mouth to call for Kuroo, your ire failing in the face of the oppressive darkness in the heart of the house. Swiping a cobweb off your face, you shined your phone around, lighting up a destroyed living room area, two hallways, and a staircase.
“You don’t think he went upstairs, do you?” Semi whispered, following your line of sight.
Swallowing, you said, “God I fuckin’ hope not. This is so creepy, can’t we just leave him?”
He chuckled against his will, a quiet, rough noise as he tried to stifle it. “‘Fraid not. I don’t wanna deal with the cops.”
Heaving a sigh, you pointed the light down to the floor and found no sign of footprints in the thick dust. Flashing it behind you, you saw your own and Semi’s clearly visible and frowned. “Hey, look.”
Semi scoured the floor, waving his light all around you. “He definitely came this way.”
Nodding, you pointed the light back in front of you, down the hallway, but it was unable to break more than a few inches of darkness. “Okay, now I’m really freaked out. Where is he?”
New light joined your meager one, shuffling footsteps coming to a stop just behind you.
Akaashi’s hand landed on your shoulder, peering over your head at where you were staring.
“This way,” Semi said after a moment of silence. It was broken only by Yachi’s occasional sniffle and you wondered if you shouldn’t just return to the front door and let Semi and Akaashi handle the rescue. But gentle pressure on your arm and shoulder guided you down, sniffling at the dust before you broke out into a sneeze.
The floor creaked beneath your feet, making the already eerie feeling worse as you crept down the hall. There were faded, torn paintings lining the walls, a few false doors, and windows painted black and boarded up. You couldn’t tell if the paint peeling up the walls was due to age or intent, but it certainly didn’t help settle your unease.
“Careful,” Semi said suddenly, jerking you sideways into him. The cold hand slid off your shoulder and a light revealed a hole in the middle of the floor, where you had been about to step.
“Thanks,” you breathed, swallowing harshly. The dust was starting to sting your eyes and you repressed another sneeze, rubbing your nose.
Skirting around the hole, it opened into another room, what appeared to be a library. Overstuffed armchairs littered the room, the shelves lining the walls stacked with what were likely fake books. There was no sign of Kuroo, but Semi led you further into the room carefully.
He wasn’t careful enough, though.
Once second you were clinging to him, the next you heard a crack and then you were experiencing the most curious sensation. Your stomach swooped as the light disappeared, and you realized belatedly that you were falling. Something warm, almost scalding wrapped around you, and your fall stopped short with a grunt of impact.
You lay there stunned for several long moments, head spinning and heart beating hard enough that you could feel it in your ears. The dark was only furthering your disorientation and you only realized you were laying on something when it moved beneath you.
Sitting up, you felt something slump over your shoulders before coughing filled your ears.
“Semi?” you whispered hoarsely. Above you, you registered screaming and looked up only to be blinded by light.
Semi grunted behind you but didn’t move, breathing heavy against your back. From above, you could hear muted conversation before the shrieking stopped.
“_____, Semi, are you both okay?” Akaashi’s concerned voice reached your ringing ears, and you nodded in response.
It took you a moment to realize he probably couldn’t see you, calling up, “Yeah, I think so. Semi--”
“‘M fine,” he yelled, though he sounded winded.
“Are you sure?” you asked, wrapping a hand around the wrist dangling in front of you. A few feet away lay your phone, face down, the light muted but visible, and you sighed in relief. “You caught me, are you sure*?”
Semi chuckled, a rough noise. “Yeah, I’m sure. Trust me.”
“You guys stay there,” Akaashi commanded, then turned back to Goshiki and Yachi to say something. “I’ll find a way down to you.”
He disappeared and you scrambled forward, snatching your phone up. Moving back to the relative safety of Semi’s presence, you shined it around.
The basement, you decided upon seeing the array of monster props and torture machines, was perhaps the most terrifying part of the house. It was only heightened by your adrenaline rush, the shadows seeming to jump out to your paranoid mind.
As the adrenaline wore off, you took stock of your extremities. Semi really had cushioned you-- nothing hurt-- and you turned to face him.
In the light, he really did look fine, even his breathing had evened out, and he looked back at you with a smirk. “Told you. I’m tougher than you think.”
“I’m beginning to realize that,” you admitted, getting to your feet. You didn’t let Semi get far, linking your arm with his and clinging to him, much to his amusement.
His eyes adjusted to the dark faster than yours and he located his phone near the base of a rusty filing cabinet. The screen was cracked-- which he cursed-- but it still worked, and he turned the flashlight back on.
“This is creepy as fuck,” he muttered, thumping the model of a skeletal doctor to see the dust swirl. There was a medical table in the center of the room with a light looming over it. He assumed there was supposed to be a body laying on said table and, in the dark, it was a scary thought that it was no longer there. “I hope Akaashi hurries up. I don’t like it here.”
You couldn’t stifle the small giggle, though you covered your mouth in a poor attempt. It was the nerves, you were sure, because as he moved away you held tighter, stumbling after him. He tried one door, the handle stiff enough that you recognized it to be fake. There was a set of metal double doors on the other side of the room and those swung open with an eerie grinding noise, scraping across the concrete floor.
The hallways extended to either direction, cells lining the wall in front of you and you shuddered. “Let’s go, Semi, please,” you begged, tugging him down to the left. It was the same direction that you had come from on the floor above and hoped that it would lead you to a staircase or something*.
Semi went along reluctantly, flashing his light in all the cells you passed. Most were empty, besides the occasional bed or other prop. Some contained chains mounted in the wall and his eyes flashed to you.
The hallway opened up into what may have been a waiting room if most of the furniture hadn’t been utterly destroyed. As you scanned the area, there was a noise from up ahead and you jerked to a stop, scurrying back to Semi’s side. Peeking around him while he stared down the hall, you kept a tight grip on his arm, feeling the muscles flex and tense beneath your hand. A shadow moved in the light and you nearly screamed as Kuroo stepped into view, followed closely by Akaashi.
Neither carried a light and your heart leapt in your throat when you caught a momentary flash of light reflecting off of Kuroo’s eyes before it disappeared.
Still hiding behind Semi, the four of you regarded each other in silence for a moment, before Kuroo chuckled.
“Well, this is certainly convenient, though I didn’t expect you to get involved,” he said, leaning sideways against the wall. He looked as relaxed as usual while Akaashi lurked behind him, staring at you peeking around Semi’s arm.
He held out a hand to you but you held back, suddenly unsure of Kuroo’s words. With your heart in your throat, you looked up into Semi’s relaxed, impassive face. He made no moves, just watched the other two linger in front of your only escape route.
Then he shrugged.
“Dumb luck.”
The men burst into laughter and you squeaked, taking a step back from Semi. Before you could get anywhere, his hand wrapped around your wrist, pulling you forward.
“Easy, kitten. We don’t wanna hurt you,” Kuroo said, stepping further into the room. His eyes lit up once again in the light from your flashlight, mischievous brown turning solid gold. His pupils narrowed and elongated, his smile seeming to become more sharp as he stared down at you.
You breathed in sharply, taking a step back into Semi’s chest. Regardless of whether he was in on whatever they had planned, he was the safest option as opposed to whatever the hell Kuroo was.
The grip on your wrist loosened but came to your shoulders instead, keeping you in place with a warning squeeze. You had already guessed he was tough, given he had taken the full brunt of the impact earlier, but you now suspected he wasn’t human either.
Akaashi came forward last, looking as placid and calm as ever, cold fingertips stroking down your cheek.
You shivered.
None of these men were human, if you had to hazard a guess. Staring up at them, you felt your heart drop.
“W-Where are ‘Toka and Goshiki?” you asked, and were proud that your voice barely cracked. Maybe if you reminded them people would be looking for you, they would back off, allowing you to escape.
Kuroo chuckled, flipping the zipper of your-- Semi’s-- jacket up in what would have been a cute manner under different circumstances. “Keiji here sent them looking for the others in the funhouse, but they’ll never find the doorway down here. Tendo was right, there are lots of hidden doors in this place.”
“What are you? What are you going to-- to d-do to me?” you asked quickly, wrapping your fingers around his wrist as he started to tug the zipper down. You were stalling at best, your heart thumping harshly in your chest. If there was any chance of escape, you couldn’t figure it out. You had no idea where this door was and you had the impression you wouldn’t be able to outrun them anyway.
“I don’t suppose it would hurt to tell you,” he answered, taking a step closer. You tried to shrink away, huddling down into Semi’s oversized jacket, but it only seemed to entice them. “I am a yokai, I assume you know what that is? Akaashi is your run of the mill demon.”
If that offended Akaashi, he didn’t show it, simply widening his smile and blinking slowly. His once serene blue eyes turned pitch black and when he blinked again, they were normal.
“I’m just a werewolf,” Semi said, breathing against your ear. His hands slid down, catching the zipper of his jacket between his fingers and drawing the zipper down slowly.
“W-Wait, please,” you tried, grabbing and tugging at his wrist to no avail. He was far stronger, and you were like a fly in comparison. “Please, can we just go?”
Kuroo cupped your cheek, a moderate temperature compared to the other two, and his smile seemed to soften a fraction. “No, kitten. Keiji and I have been waiting for this for far too long. The wolf probably just likes how you smell.”
You weren’t sure what that meant, but the deep, pointed inhale Semi took against your neck seemed to verify the statement. The jacket fell to the floor with barely a whisper and then your phone was placed face up on a table, beside the men’s, and the combined light filled the room.
It felt like you couldn’t get enough air as warm hands skimmed down your stomach, stretching the soft fabric of your t-shirt out, before settling on your hips. Lips met your neck, tentative at first, trailing up to your jaw, causing you to shiver.
The heat radiating off of Semi and Kuroo was getting to you, Semi’s soft lips flitting over pleasure spots causing your back to arch. You didn’t want to like it, but when Kuroo’s hands slipped up your shirt and over your ribs, your muscles tensed in unwanted arousal. Your nipples were already peaking inside your bra, the hairs on the back of your neck raising at the first graze of teeth on your skin.
“W-Wa-ait--” you breathed and, for a moment, you thought they really would stop because they both paused.
It was over in a moment, a soft kiss pressed to your other cheek as Kuroo pushed your bra up over your tits. His hands were soft as they cupped the tender flesh, giving gentle squeezes that went straight to your core, as much as you protested. “Not gonna happen, kitten. May as well enjoy it. We’ll take good care of you.”
A new sensation joined the heat surrounding you then, Kuroo moving to the side to allow Akaashi to join in. His hands were cold compared to the other two, one on your side and one cupping your unoccupied breast. The difference was enough to make you gasp, back arching on its own into their touch, and they at least had the decency not to snicker.
“You really do smell good, princess,” Semi whispered in your ear, nipping the lobe. “I can smell everything, even how wet you’re getting for us.”
Craning your neck away from him only opened you up to another smattering of kisses and you hated that he was right. They were getting to you, their gentle touches on your body doing everything right, like they had been your lovers for years rather than men you just met today. It made it harder to think than it already was, mind still racing in a futile effort to formulate some way to escape, but even you could recognize your body giving up.
Your shirt came up and over your head, disappearing somewhere outside of your vision. There was a collective intake from the men in front of you, and Semi groaned over your shoulder.
“I knew you would be so pretty, kitten,” Kuroo cooed, palming one tit again. He relished in the way you twitched when he pinched your nipple, then he cupped both, bouncing and watching them jiggle. “Been watching you all day, we couldn’t wait to get our hands on you.”
Akaashi was the first to lean over, wrapping cool lips around one pert bud, and Kuroo stepped back to watch your teeth sink into your lip to stifle any noises.
“Feel good, princess?” Semi asked, and chuckled when you shook your head. “It will soon, then. We won’t hurt you. Just wanna make you feel good.”
The worst part was, you were beginning to enjoy it. It was so tempting to cave, to just let them have their way with you. They were gentle, surprisingly so, and it was knocking down whatever resistance you had left at an alarming rate.
Semi’s hands were almost scalding against your sides, squeezing and kneading as he suckled at your neck, feeling you whine in your throat. “There you go. Just let go.”
The clasp of your bra came loose, and you weren’t even sure who had done it, before it was slid down your arms and dumped, presumably with your shirt.
There were two sets of lips attached to each nipple, your nails digging into your palms to keep from tangling your fingers in someone’s hair but you were losing the will to fight. Your panties were embarrassingly wet, no matter how much your mind insisted you didn’t like it, and you broke your silence when cold fingers drifted down to undo the button of your jeans.
“No please,” you begged, wiggling your hips in your first real display of resistance. Hands clamped down to still them in an iron grip, and a hand clasped your jaw, forcing you to look Kuroo in the eyes.
“What wrong, kitten? You’ve been so good up til now,” he said, stroking your lower lip with his thumb. There were imprints of your teeth in the skin, and he ached to kiss you, but it would have to wait.
“I-I don’t w-want--” you stuttered, tears burning the corners of your eyes as your zipper was pulled down.
Semi interrupted you then, tilting your head just so that he could kiss the corner of your mouth, smirking. “She’s embarrassed because of how wet she is.” Dropping his voice to barely a whisper, he said, “I can smell you, princess. You want this, don’t deny it.”
Shaking your head feebly, you whined when Semi pressed his lips to your cheek, dangerously close to your lips again. It was enough to distract you from your jeans sliding down your legs, until they pooled at your ankles and Akaashi had to tug your shoes off. Your jeans hit the floor shortly afterwards, the air startlingly cool against your now bare skin only to be covered with warmth as the men caged you in again.
It started with two fleeting touches to your inner thighs, which you tried to stop by squeezing them together only for them to pried apart in an instant. Semi took the opportunity to lay another languid kiss to the corner of your mouth, tongue flicking out against your lips.
For a moment, you turned into it only to jerk away, looking in the opposite direction. You knew what they were trying to do and you wouldn’t give them the satisfaction of hearing you beg for something you didn’t want. You wondered briefly where the others were and why you could hear nothing from above, until warm hands cupped your tits again.
You bit down on your lip again when Semi circled your nipples with his thumbs, massaging your breasts as he rolled them between his fingers. It was hard to keep quiet when it felt so good, especially when Kuroo and Akaashi were teasing your inner thighs, so close your aching cunt.
Your hips rocked of their own accord, your mind too preoccupied with the warm touches on your tender nipples and stifling your noises, but all three of your attackers smirked.
“Ask, pretty girl,” Akaashi said, speaking for the first time.
His voice combined with his fleeting, cold touch against the soaked lips of your cunt caused a gasp to break free, hips rolling up in a jerky manner against your will. Your ears burned when they laughed and your teeth sank into your lip again. It was driving you insane, they were so close but you refused to beg for it.
“Aw, did we upset you, kitten?” Kuroo cooed, placing a wet kiss against your hip. “We’re sorry. You’re just so cute we can’t help it. Come on, ask us. Ask us to touch this pretty little pussy and we’ll make it up to you.”
Another swipe across your clit timed with a tug on your nipples broke the seal a second time.
“S-Semi--”
“There she goes,” Semi whispered, tilting your head around to look at him. Tears were spilling down your cheeks as you looked up at him with wide, resigned eyes. His eyes dropped to your parted lips for a moment and you swallowed, blinking the tears away, but didn’t struggle.
The first kiss was tentative, tongue ghosting between your parted lips to test you for a reaction. You only whined into the kiss, leaning in and he delved into your mouth, tongue lapping at yours as he tasted you.
When he pulled away, you hiccupped, letting your head rest on his shoulder as you closed your eyes.
“Please, just touch me. Fuck me, do whatever. I can’t--” you whispered, thighs aching from how tense you had been for god knew how long. It was too much to hold out, not when you were so wet and aching for it anyway. They knew what they were doing, their gentle teasing and buildup working to break down any fight you had and it had worked flawlessly.
You melted into Semi as Kuroo lifted one leg over his shoulder. Akaashi left a trail of cool kisses down your inner thigh while Kuroo kissed up the opposite one. You didn’t know whether to tremble or whine, so you did both when his nose bumped your clit, and they chuckled again.
“That wasn’t so hard, was it, pretty girl?” Akaashi asked, and you might have mistook it for affection in another situation. “Just relax.”
As if you had a choice. Hot breathe puffed across your folds, teasing just a little more until you were practically dripping on his lips. Only then did his tongue swipe across your clit, your hips jerking harshly. His hot tongue was replaced with a cold one, the two of them taking turns lapping at your clit at such a languid pace that it was more torturous than not being touched at all.
“Fuck, please, stop teasing,” you cried, voice cracking as your back arched. You were desperate at this point, willing to beg or do whatever they wanted. You weren’t getting out of it without doing so anyway, so you might as well enjoy it. “Kuroo, Akaashi, please.”
A sharp pinch to your nipples made you squeal just before Semi devoured your mouth. You could feel the aggravation in the kiss, the way his teeth clacked against yours and his tongue pressed against yours. You made muffled noises against him, one hand coming up to tangle in his hair.
At the same time, Kuroo latched onto your clit properly, and your eyes almost rolled into the back of your head as you rocked your hips against his feverish suckling. The noises he was making filled the quiet space, grunts and would-be moans that terminated against your clit as he worked to make you cum.
Your head was starting to spin from lack of oxygen and intense pleasure. Kuroo wasn’t giving you an inch and your slick hole fluttered around nothing, until something swirled around your entrance before slipping in.
You forgot about the kiss, Semi’s lips hovering against yours as you came with a cry around cold fingers. The temperature difference between Akaashi’s fingers and Kuroo’s lips was mind numbing, your eyelids flickering, trying to stay open before giving in. You didn’t bother to be quiet, letting your moans bounce off the walls. Maybe it would draw the others to you, and you could still get out of this.
Instead of withdrawing his fingers, Akaashi slipped another one in beside the first, kitten licking your still sensitive clit and listening to you whine for him to “Stop, please, too much.” He only smirked, continuing to lap until you relaxed, though the stream of noises never stopped.
There was a moment of hesitation as Kuroo stood, cocking his head in Semi’s direction. With your attention on your throbbing clit and Akaashi’s almost icy touch, you missed the way Semi beckoned to him. Their lips met briefly, allowing Semi to get a taste of you on his lips before Semi dragged him into a deeper one, tongues meeting in a heated tangle. Both men were hard, Semi grinding his clothed erection against the cheek of your ass, the chafing fabric unnoticed against your soft skin.
You squirmed against him when Akaashi crooked his fingers just right inside you, grazing over the swollen sweet spot inside you again and again until you were on the verge of another orgasm. It seemed like no matter how long his fingers stayed inside you, they never heated up. You weren’t even sure if the cold of his tongue flicking over your clit was pleasurable or not but it was such constant pressure that you hurtled towards your second orgasm. Kuroo was quick to stifle it, delving into your mouth for you to taste what remained of you on his tongue.
You came with a cry, convulsing around Akaashi’s fingers for a second time so hard you became light headed. He continued to pet that spot inside you until you were squirming to get away, tugging roughly at his hair.
Your legs shook when he let you down, only Semi’s strong grip keeping you upright. The sound of belt buckles clanging brought you down quickly, and trepidation set your heart racing again. There was no stopping it, but you found yourself trying to back up anyway.
“Ah,” Kuroo tutted, taking you from Semi’s arm and kissing the crown of your head like he was comforting you. “Don’t start that. We aren’t going to hurt you, kitten.”
No, they certainly hadn’t yet, and you had no choice but to trust his words. Something hard pressed against your ass, hotter even than the rest of Semi. You instinctively jerked away, pressing into Kuroo only to feel something slip between your thighs.
“Excited, aren’t we?” Kuroo drawled, and you could feel the condescension dripping off of him. Semi pressed to your back again, shielding you from the cold, while Kuroo asked, “How are we gonna take her? Semi, you kinda threw a wrench in things, can’t lie.”
Semi shrugged against your back, letting his cock settle between your thighs. You whined, jerking your hips instinctively away from the heat against your folds, but it only served to make him grind into you.
“I want this sweet cunt,” Semi snarled, cupping your jaw in a tight grip and tilting your head away, baring your throat to him. He licked a stripe from your shoulder to just beneath your ear before kissing the soft skin, and you shivered at the possessiveness in his tone.
“Alright, wolfboy smells a mate,” Kuroo said, rolling his eyes. “Akaashi?”
The last of the trio stepped forward again, skimming his fingers down your cheek before leaning in to steal a kiss. “I’m okay with whatever you want, Kuroo. Just wanna feel her around me.”
There was something dark in his eyes that belied his passive words. He was deferring to Kuroo to get things moving, you were almost sure. Like the rest of him, his cock was cool against your thigh, more like a glass dildo you kept at home than a cock attached to a man.
“That makes things easy then,” Kuroo said, clapping his hands and giving you that mischievous smile. If you didn’t know any better-- you didn’t-- you would say his teeth were a little sharper, the canines more pronounced than before. His eyes certainly hadn’t changed, maintaining that almost glowing golden color this whole time. “Semi, lay on the couch. Keiji, you can take her from behind. I want her mouth.”
He sounded like he was giving out instructions to his employees rather than fucking a very reluctant person, but the other two followed his instructions without question. It was an odd sensation, to be talked about as if you weren’t there, as if you had no say over what was happening to you.
Not that you did.
It wasn’t until you were straddling Semi that you realized something. In addition to being hotter than average, he was larger than average, peeking out from between your folds to drip precum just below his bellybutton. The way your stomach swooped made you nauseous and tears fell down your cheeks all over again.
“What’s wrong, princess?” he asked, wiping them away as best he could. You wouldn’t be fooled by the concern in his tone; he wouldn’t stop anyway.
You turned your face away only to jump when a finger slipped your cunt, cool to the touch, followed by a second, only to be removed a second later. They moved instead to your slick rear entrance, circling and massaging until it gave way, eased by your previous orgasms. You fell forward, bracing yourself over Semi, who held your rocking hips still. Two fingers filled you, the stretch no more than a sting but it was uncomfortable nonetheless when you didn’t want it.
Akaashi’s other hand came down, long fingers wrapping around your throat just beneath your chin, pulling you back up to your knees. “Good girl,” he whispered in your ear before forcing your head around so he could capture your lips.
They parted naturally when his tongue glided across them, allowing him access without thought. You couldn’t place his taste; it was like he’d just eaten ice before kissing you, and you moaned into it.
Kuroo, who until then had been content to watch, groaned and stood from the dilapidated chair he had been lounging in. One hand wrapped around your wrist, moving your hand to wrap around his aching cock, desperate for some kind of relief. Your palm was soft against him, and he spit on it twice for good measure before allowing you to curl your fingers around him again. They did so automatically, squeezing tight and he hissed through gritted teeth, slit pupils narrowing further as he watched Akaashi’s tongue delve into your mouth like he wanted his cock to.
All the while, Semi was forcing you to slide along his shaft, slow, calculated moves designed to drag your clit back and forth against him. He could feel you trembling above him, your hands curled into fists against his chest, hips moving with his hands. You dripped down his cock, covering him in your slick and he almost growled at the heady scent. Unlike the other two, he could smell how bad you wanted it and it was driving him wild.
“Akaashi, hurry up,” he snapped, digging his nails into your soft hips hard enough to leave marks if he wasn’t careful.
Akaashi hummed in disapproval, pulling from your mouth to stare impassively at the werewolf. “I don’t want to hurt her, Semi.”
Yet, he withdrew his fingers and you whined at the loss.
“Finally,” Semi hissed, helping Akaashi lift you up so he could slick his cock up against your cunt before settling against your rear hole. “You go first.”
Your toes curled tight enough to cramp as Akaashi gave you a warning nudge before splitting you open. Your jaw dropped, eyes widening as you stared up into the cobwebbed ceiling, waiting for him to bottom out. Thighs trembling in Semi’s hold, you fell back against Akaashi’s chest as his hips met your ass.
“Don’t worry, pretty girl,” he whispered, leaving cool kisses along your shoulder and neck. Goosebumps were raising up your arms and back, and he would have felt bad if you weren’t squeezing around his cock so tight while Semi positioned himself at your dripping hole.
You couldn’t decide if you really wanted two cocks, weren’t sure if you could even take two, but Semi was stretching you so wide you were crying out broken babbles none of them could make out as he seated you flush against his hips. You twitched above him, fluttered around him, squeezed rhythmically while you tried weakly to get away.
The sensation of fullness was one you had never experienced before. Even just Semi’s cock was more than you had ever taken, let alone Akaashi’s cock in your inexperienced asshole. You blinked rapidly, unable to decide if you liked it or not before a hand wound in your hair and you were pulled down.
Kuroo’s cock bobbed in your face and your jaw dropped automatically, allowing him to smear precum around your lips. He was more salty than bitter as he slipped into your mouth, stuffing himself as far as he could before you started gagging. Pulling back, he gave you a small reprieve to gasp for air before filling your mouth again. There was no fighting his thrusts, you had to force your throat to relax or choke. A mix of drool and tears spilled down your chin as a thick vein dragged against your tongue, dripping off to the floor. In the back of your foggy mind you were disgusted.
When they felt you relax around Kuroo’s cock, his hips moving in a steady rhythm to fuck your throat, Akaashi and Semi moved.
You spasmed around Kuroo when Semi lifted you up and dropped you back down, your hips meeting with a wet slap, his cock stifling your scream. Akaashi pulled out then, a little more careful as he stuffed himself back in, but the constant push and pull of their hips soon spread fire through your body. Kuroo was heavy on your tongue, Semi and Akaashi bumping and grinding against each other through the thin wall separating your cunt and ass, Semi’s curls stimulating your throbbing, sensitive clit.
You couldn’t fathom how you were careening towards a third orgasm, but Semi’s cock was so thick he couldn’t help but drag along the swollen, gummy sweet spot inside you. Akaashi’s low, pleasured moans in your ear gave you a vague sense of pride. These gorgeous men wanted you, were moaning for you.
It was enough to make you forget this wasn’t right.
Kuroo thought you were moaning, your throat vibrating around his cock as he facefucked you with abandon. The tight sleeve of your throat only grew tighter when Akaashi’s hand slipped between your legs to pet your clit and Kuroo grunted.
“Keep that up, kitten, and you’re gonna make me cum,” he said, holding your nose down in his curls for a few seconds just to feel you spasm around him.
Semi and Akaashi felt the benefits of it, both your holes clenching around them as you gagged. Semi took the opportunity to grind deep inside you, rolling his hips up so that he pushed against your cervix.
Your thighs trembled around him, a squeal stifled around Kuroo’s cock as you came hard, jerking in Semi’s hold. He snarled, bouncing you on his cock with abandon as Akaashi slammed into you, spreading your clenching hole without care as he moaned.
Kuroo grunted, pumping into your mouth a few more times before pressing your nose into his pelvis and cumming, his lips parted in an ‘o’ and his head tipping back. You had no choice but to swallow until he pulled out and spilled the remnant all over your face, smirking as it mixed with your tears and drool to drip off your chin.
Semi’s back arched off the couch, strong hands pulling you down to sit flush with his hips as he spilled inside you. Your eyes grew wide at the intense heat filling your womb, the warmth rushing up through you at the same time Akaashi came in your ass. Goosebumps erupted across your skin as his cum offset the heat of Semi’s, and your vision swam for a moment from overstimulation.
Semi caught you as you collapsed forward, cradling you to his chest regardless of the mess, petting your hair.
Akaashi slipped out of you, sharing a small smirk with Kuroo as he sought out your clothes.
“Give me my shirt,” Semi said, catching it from the air when Akaashi threw it. He forced you to sit up, watching you sway with a twisted sense of pride, and wiped the mess from your face. Akaashi and Kuroo took you from there, helping you to dress while you leaned against them, unable to keep from snickering at the state they’d left you in.
“Can you walk, kitten?” Kuroo asked, setting his hands on your shoulders. “Or do you need someone to carry you?”
“I-I can w-walk,” you stuttered, throat raspy. You frowned and grabbed it, swallowing with a wince.
“Good girl,” Kuroo said, dropping a kiss on your lips and smirked when you leaned after him as he pulled away. “We don’t need to worry about you telling anyone, do we?”
Shaking your head, you allowed Semi to wrap an arm around your shoulders, keeping you close to bathe in his warmth as Kuroo led the way up the hidden stairs a little ways down the hall they had been blocking earlier. At the top of the stairs, you could hear voices calling your names and perked up, trying to follow the echoes in the darkness.
“This way,” Kuroo said, leading the way though there wasn’t a speck of light in sight. Your own phone was tucked safely in the pocket of Semi’s jacket, which he had taken back. “Keiji, give me your phone. Appearances.”
Right, couldn’t let the humans know.
Everyone crowded around you, throwing questions all at once, until Shirabu lost his temper. He insisted on looking you and Semi over, just to determine for sure nothing was the matter.
He seemed a little concerned by how out of it you were, and asked if you hit your head.
Three sets of eyes landed on you, all carrying a different weight as they waited for you to speak.
“Just tired, Shirabu,” you murmured, hiding your face in Semi’s side. “It took ages for them to find us. Can we go home now?”
The tension eased, though you kept your face hidden, allowing him to guide you blindly down the hallway.
It was even colder outside than earlier, and Kuroo took over the spot on your other side, gently shooing Yachi towards the other. She had insisted on keeping you company, watching you with wide, worried eyes while Akaashi and Kuroo whispered together behind her.
Even now, she watched the way the three men hovered around you with curious concern. They treated you like a precious object-- or a possession that needed to be protected.
You nodded in response to something Kuroo said, trying-- if possible-- to curl even closer into Semi. Akaashi hovered in the background, pretty face as impassive as ever until he caught Yachi looking at him.
His lips curled up in a smile, his face softening ever so slightly, and she relaxed. Whatever had happened to you down there, it seemed to spark something in the three men.
Whatever it was, it couldn’t have been that bad.

Hey, I have a fun question for you! Imagine Haikyuu volleyball teams in a fantasy AU, all of them being different clans. (The clans are the teams. Example: Karasuno, Aoba Johsai, Nekoma, etc)
Which type of fantasy creatures do you think each team would be? (Example: Werewolves, dragons, demons, etc)
Ooh, no because I absolutely love this question (AND RAMBLE TIME YES YES) - 😼☝🏼 also this is a great Halloween fanfic concept as well HELLO. fudge I'll break it down into mini paragraph thingybobs too, 🐻 with me lovely.
INARIZAKI ;; a part of me is definitely stuck on the idea of werewolves, there's something about it that just fits the characteristics of both the Miya Twins, Kita and actually Aran as well. But at the same time, I feel like Asian Folklore, specifically Yokai's would definitely work well here too.
KARASUNO ;; anzu's definitely >:D (Sumerian mythology, controlling that of both the winds and the thunder clouds, which fits it perfect with Nishinoya 🏃🏃🏃🏃), but just in general, they are such beautiful creatures.
NEKOMA ;; you know, this might sound a bit strange, but I can see the Nekoma team actually being a bunch of cheeky ghosts, especially Lev Haiba, poltergeists even. and also with the whole stereotypical strategic elements - spirits just know how to play with their victims, including opposing volleyball players.
AOBA JOHSAI ;; Azeban's, we going back to Abenaki mythology, specifically know as native american lore based in North America. so i may have purely based this on Kyotani and his eyeliner, because these spirits are in the shape of a racoon, but are literally harmless, they just enjoy doing cheeky things.
DATE TECH ;; White Stags, or Goldhorns (based in slavic lore), because aone as a forest creature with golden horns as a antelope 😵, okay but really, vv gentle (unless provoked silly billy) but just, yes. that is all.
FUKURODANI ;; I'm actually thinking either cryptids, or hellhounds, but I'm definitely leaning towards hellhounds. head empty, just brainrot of hellhound bokuto 👨❤️💋👨
NOHEBI ;; Naga's. no questions about it. OR OR UH UH KRAKENS BECAUSE YES HELLO DAISHOU WITH TENTACLES GOODBYE 👨❤️💋👨‼️
SHIRATORIZAWA ;; one word. Jiangshi. (or the Chinese hopping vampire in Chinese folklore). I absolutely love Tendou, but I can totally see him fitting into this role so well, alongside Goshiki, so incredibly unnerving. and the fact that they don't move either until nightime, and just hop - definitely lulls you into a false sense of security if they aren't moving during the day, thinking you're safe.

Hi! I’m here to ask if you used any specific resources for the Japanese folklore in Paranormality and Summer of Monsters?
nothing I can cite as the best unfortunately. It was a lot of wikipedia, yokai.com, and a few other recurring sites. Sometimes there were video essays off youtube. i fcking love video essays. Lots of the time I was basing it off my pre existing knowledge, or extrapolation based on my own analysis.
Part of the fun of Paranormality is that the myths are based more on popular perception and not so much on any "truth" or "original tale" so I was able to get away without being very academically rigerous. For example, in the most recent spider chapter, the entire premise of these women being scapegoats isnt something I got off a source, by just my own understanding of how stories like that develop. Same with Oikawa's analysis of the bear stories always just being bears! Just cool things I noticed. Tendou's monster form is based off a chimpanzee and I can literally only barely remember reading one site that said something about how satori "were probably just aggressive monkeys"
Oh! and the Night Parade concept has a few different origins, but it took the form it did due to the fact that many yokai appear in writings called stuff like "On the Hyakki Yagyō" which are catalogues of yokai that sometimes dont appear in ANY other written records, except by name in these old writings. Very interesting.
oddly, Ushijima's sinistrality had me doing the most research. Partially this was due to a damn near feral state I was put into due to a haikyuu-bu extra that showed Shirabu asking Ushijima to touch Tendou with his left hand to "see what would happen" and partially just due to left handed history being so weird and fascinating (had me reading NY Times articles from the 80s)
sorry i lost track of the initial question somewhere in there. wikipedia and yokai.com are probably the true answers. hope this is satisfying in any way otherwise yell at me and ill try again

Hq kanji day 11: Tendou Satori
Ok i thought that tobio’s name was loaded but tendou my baby 🥺
Both his last name and first name are nouns that have a direct translation: so tendou means cherub and satori is a yokai from japanese folklore that can read minds!
I’m gonna include the picture that i put in the banner in full size on the bottom. But the satori yokai looks like a monkey and “upon reading a person’s mind, the satori would say the person’s thoughts faster than a human could” (from the wikipedia on Satori)
I just think wow- the dichotomy of having a cherub and this yokai in his name. the satori makes a lot of sense since he’s “guess monster”, but like he still has that childlike wonder and nature; and it’s reflected in his name ;;
Doing this, i was brainstorming ideas how to beat up all the mean kids that bullied tendou as a kid 😤
He is confirmed angel baby now period.

kageyama is 1000% lactose intolerant and takes lactaid for it
noya would treat his s/o like royalty like he would do whatever odd jobs he can to make sure he can always treat them like they deserve to be treated (buying them flowers, food, taking them on dates, etc)

hinata used to collect zhu zhu pets but he cant part with them so he still has a massive collection
iwaizumi has a pet snake named uwabami and it lowkey freaks oikawa out so when oikawa is getting on his nerves, he’ll secretly crack open the tank and just be like “oh, i wonder where uwabami went” and oikawa immediately jumps on the highest surface in iwa’s room (i also hc that iwa likes reading especially stories about yokai (where he got the name uwabami hehe))
sugawara likes making edibles (his favorite is rice krispie treats) and tanaka is the plug
asahi is really good at english especially pronunciation like even if his wording is a little off, his pronunciation is basically that of a native speaker

Yokai - Ushiten Fic part 1
"It has been rumoured many generations that a very special Yokai live here in this part of the shrine. His name is Tendou Satori the fire beast Yokai.
He was known as strange person that lived just outside of the village all by himself at 16 as his family had left one day, leaving him behind with any word.
It is told that he defended the village, with his fantastic Sword skills, from a beast that went rampaging and exploded with the beast in a blaze.
Some have claimed to have seen him in the dead of night only one night every 3 years, roaming around looking for something but no one ever know what.
So that's why we have this festival on that very day every 3 years to honour his sacrifice and bravery to protect the village."
A multitude of small hands clapping together, everyone's eyes wide in awe at the story behind the Fire beast Yokai festival "That can't be true." the child sitting next to me says leaning back on his hands. I turn to look at him, scruffy Grey with black tipped hair and brown eyes stares back. "You don't believe it do you.. Uh?" he points to me, before I speak quietly.
"Ushijima Wakatoshi." I answered his unspoken question. "And I don't particularly believe it unless I was to see him, but it is a nice story regardless." I finished my reply to him as his face lit up. "Alright everyone you can go to lunch now." the kindergarten teacher called to the class of children riled up from such a exciting story, most of them would probably try to go find the Yokai on the day of the festival tomorrow.
"Oh, My name is Semi Eita. Nice to me you Ushijima." we stand up to follow everyone outside, we shake hands. My face remains the same as it always is. Semi's head tilts to the side giving me a confused look. "You don't smile much do you Ushijima?" he asked as we made our ways to the playground near by the shrine as they were on a school trip to learn about the special day. "Is that a problem?" I asked he only smiles more as we walk around just talking. "Nah it's okay, you don't have to smile for someone to tell weather you are having fun." he started again. "Sometimes all you have to do is just look in their eyes and you can just tell what they are feeling." I nod as a response, still walking not knowing where we are going.
I thought for a moment. 'Maybe Semi will be my friend.' and I got the courage to ask. "Would you like to come play Volleyball with me Semi?" I asked hopefully, looking at him still beside me. His eyes widen from what could only be excitement and shock. "You play Volleyball too." he said yes he was shocked. I nodded again. "Then yeah let's go Ushijima!" he says taking my hand and running over to the slab of concrete near the shrine. Ushijima a pulls out a Volleyball from his bag and throws it over to Semi.
The two of them had as much fun playing with a volleyball as they could with only two people. Soon it was time for them to leave. "It's time to go home. Hey Ushijima do you want to hang out at the Festival tomorrow? We can meet at the Shrine." Semi says walking with me ask we both began walking home.
"Are you curious about The fire beast Yokai?" I asked turn to him hold keeping a hole of my backpack. He slightly nods. "Actually yeah, I just want to prove whether he is real or not." Semi says at matter of factly. "Okay Semi, I'll see you there then." Semi smiled back at Me and pointed out. "Wow you can smile Ushi!" Semi grins more.
*The next day*
"Come on Wakatoshi! We are leaving now!" The voice of my farther called from the door were him, and my mother and grandmother stood waiting for me to put my shoes on. I follow them holding grandma's hand to the shrine where the festival is being held. It was all so pretty, the design of the decorations that were flames and pretty red flowers made it feel so warm, lights strung up alone all the food stalls and games glowing a orange and yellows.
The street that always seemed to empty, was now so lively, there were people everywhere. "Wow isn't this lovely?" Grandma looked down at me in her pretty pink flower pattern kimono, with matching Flower pin in her grey hair. "Yes it is." I responded simply to her as we all kept walking avoiding the others around us some other children running around laughing together. Soon my mother chimed in, "Why don't we get something to eat, Wakatoshi what do you want?" she asked, it was always easy to answer, because I always chose my favourite food. "Hayashi Rice." I say with out hesitation. "Oh but you all ways have that, what about something different for once dear." Grandma stopped in front of me. "But I like it!" I tell her, she only sighs chuckling. "You will get sick of it one day if that's all you eat Wakatoshi-chan." she warned, I stare at her mentally telling her I wasn't going to change my mind. "How about this. We will try find a stall that sells it, while you go play some games with you dad. Okay and if we can't find it, we'll get you some tokoyaki balls instead, okay." my mother says again. I gave up nodding to her and dad takes my hand from Grandma and we walk away to some stalls there are all kinds of games to play. Ring toss, water balloon filling and dart games too, all with toys and plushies most of which were themed around the festivals purpose. Some were Pokémon and all kinds of Anime characters, and some were sports mascot including the Mascot for volleyball, I have lots of those at home. But there were also The beast from the story and a plush toy that looked like the hero with his sword. "Ushijima!" I heard a voice behind us, my dad and I both look over our shoulder to see, Semi running through the crowd with a lady beside him. I wave to him and the eventually join us. "Hello, Semi!"
"Oh is this a friend of yours Wakatoshi?" my dad looks to Semi. "Yes we meet at the shrine yesterday." I tell him simply. "This is the friend you wanted to meet Eita, do you want to go play some games with him, if that's alright with his dad?" a tall lady with grey hair similar to Semi's says directed at my dad, who smiled telling it was fine. She walks off after telling him where to meet after they were done. Waving goodbye.
Soon we walked around together. Dad pointed out to a few games and we played them, and well all I can say was that either of us ever won at any of them, but it didn't upset me at all. But Semi lost his temper at some before we moved on to the next. "One more game before we will go find you mother and grandma okay?" he says to me, I smile up at my dad, nodding.
We got to the last one we wanted to try and we won, I got a bag tag of the volleyball mascot. Because you can never have to much of a one thing. And Semi got a plushie of the fire beast. Soon we met back up with Mine and Semi's mum, they got to met and exchanged contacts. Grandma took my hand walking away from my mum and dad as I heard them raise their voices at each other.
"Oh, can we go to the shrine now to, see if he will show up!" Semi says to his mother excitedly. She chuckles telling him he can and he takes my hand saying we would be back soon. We made our way over to the shrine where we were the previous day. "Here we are." he says, it's a lot quieter here then down the stairs to where the festival ground is. "It is quite pretty from up here." I speak my mind he nods smiling happily. We sat at the top step looking down. We sat in silence for a few minutes before he spoke again. *Third pov*
"Do you think the Yokai will actually show up?" Semi asked before Ushijima could answer a rustling from a nearby bush made Semi go quiet again. They both turn to the sound when a small figure stepped out of the bushes that surround the kids. They suddenly stand in that they might have to run. blinking for a moment, and standing there was another boy in front of them. The boy in question, had short straight red hair, large dark eyes. He was skinny and fair skinned, that looked almost white in a dark purple kimono. He stood back in shocked to see the other boys and Semi getting scared hid behind Ushijima.
"H-hello, Who are you?" the small voice of the strange looking boy sounded. He looked scared as well.
The olive haired boy decided to step towards the red head and Semi only Gasped letting go of him. "Hello, I'm Ushijima Wakatoshi." he says and held out his hands to the other. He looked at him Ushijima's hand and then back at his face before reaching out his hand out too. Ushijima flinch a bit at his touch, "Your hands are so cold." Ushijima says holding the skeptic boys hand in his own gentle hand, shaking. The unnamed boy went to pull it away again, but he Ushijima holds it tight. "It's okay I don't mind." he seemed to have relaxed after those words were spoke and he smiled a bit too, "Okay, Wakatoshi-kun." the boy spoke, which Ushijima returned a gentle grin. 'His voice his kind of pretty.' Ushijima though to himself.
They shake hands and let go, when he noticed Semi lingering behind the taller boy. Staring curious and cautiously at Semi with his Cherry eyes he looks back to Ushijima with out a word, both his hands held to his chest defensively looking nervous. "That's my friend." he say to the skinny boy, and going over to Semi grabbing his hand and leading them to each other. "Uh, hi I'm Semi Eita." he holds a shake hand out to the redhead, seeming unsure of him. The boy breaths in glancing up at Ushijima. "Semi Semi!" He smiled to tell him it was okay, and his eyes widen more then they did naturally. "What's your name?" Semi asked the boy shaking hands with each other. He looked like he didn't want to answer, but breaths in deeply muster the courage to. "M-my name is Tendou Satori." his voice quiet but we had both heard him clearly.
"L-like the Fire beast Yokai?" Semi exclaimed, holding out the prize he won from earlier. The boy claiming to be Tendou, eyes widen again but seemed to understand still. "Uh, yes. Well I'm not at the age I was when I got that name." Tendou explains, opening up a little bit to the other children. Tendou stuck his hand out to the plushie and pat its head like a cat. "Wait if your really him, why do you look like a child? Weren't you 19 when you defeated the Beast?" Semi shuffled to sit closer to the other. "Uh, I don't know what happened? This is the first time this happened to me." "Yeah and you look nothing like what people say you looked." Semi says starting to get excited to talk to Tendou. Ushijima smiled to himself as they sat together he opened his mouth to say something about that too but Semi kept talking so he didn't talk. The two talking about all kinds of things under the light of the moon.
Ushijima sat listening to the two talk and pulled out his games prize looking at it and pulled out a pen from his pocket to write his name on the bag tag smiling to himself when done. Talkative Tendou looked to Ushijima as the conversation between him and Semi died down. "Hey Wakatoshi-kun, what's that you have?" Tendou asks pointing to the tag. "Oh, this is a Bag tag of the Volleyball mascot." he answered handing the tag over to the other so while could look at it better. "Oh, this looks cool. But."
"What's Volleyball?" he asked again. "It's a cool sport we're you can't hold or carry the ball and you hit over the net devising the two teams of 6 playing. And the team on the other side of the net tries to stop the ball from hitting the ground otherwise you team gets the point." Semi explains for Ushijima, who only nodded in agreement. Tendou hands the bag tag back to Ushijima, and he places it next to him on the ground instead of back into his pocket.
Soon though a voice from the bottom of the stairs called, startling us all and Tendou hid away, as the lady from before was walking up. "Eita, it's time to leave now." Semi's mum as she came into view. "Do I have to?" Semi wines to his mum, but she only laughs and tells him to say goodbye. He waved as he was dragged down from the shrine. "See you at school Ushijima!" I stayed quiet waving back until he was gone out of site. Ushijima blinks, glancing around back to where Tendou hid, poking his head from the pillar. "Who was that?" Tendou asked slowly making his way back to him. "That was Semi's mum, he had to go home now." Ushijima told him blankly.
"Why did Semi Semi have to leave?" Tendou's head tilt to the side. His red hair falls with his head movements, he continued toward Ushijima standing in the light of the moon, together. "Because we have school tomorrow." Ushijima says bluntly to the red head. Tendou's eyes looked up to Ushijima, before frowning looking away fiddling with his fingers.
"But I don't want to leave." Ushijima stares at his feet. "Why is that Wakatoshi-kun?" Tendou cox his head to the side with one brow raised. "My mother and farther are always fighting about something, sometimes it's over silly things like purposefully not going to look for a Hayashi Rice stand for me." He exhaled the started again.
"Hayashi Rice is my favourite dish, I ask for it every time." he sighed lifting his head again to Tendou, still playing with his fingers.
"Oh. I'm sorry that happened Wakatoshi-kun." Tendou gave him a sadden expression stepping closer. "What about you Tendou. What's your favourite food?" Ushijima asked simply. Tendou gladly answers. "Chocolate, I think it's called. I had gotten offerings of all kinds but I liked the chocolates the best." He smiled at Ushijima, who took a mental note to get Tendou some chocolate on his future visits to the shrine. It was silent for a few seconds before Tendou spoke up again. "Wakatoshi-kun, do you think you could come back tomorrow, to see me again?" the skinny, shorter boy questions fumbling with the waist tie from his Kimono, facing away shyly. Ushijima was taken back a bit. No one, but Semi, had asked to see him again. He didn't have many friends so it was a nice feeling, to hear Tendou say. "I will try my best to Tendou!" Ushijima took a step towards the other, reaching and taking a hold of both his hands, and the sudden action shocked the timid boy. His head whipped back to Ushijima who only smiled lightly back.
Both of them standing in the moon rays, and shining down on them. Tendou's eyes lighting up at the site of the other in front of him, staring in awe as the moon highlighted the olive hair and brown eyes of... His friend? Something of which Tendou never had in his previous life.
"Pretty" they both whispered together, enchanted by the sites of each other.
Ushijima could feel a heat raise to his checks when he noticed he was staring into the sweet, cherry coloured eyes of the little Yokai boy, for longer then was normal.
It's only raised further to his ears when he felt their hands squeeze together as their fingers had intertwined. Tendou's gaze followed the others eyes down to their small hands and a flash of pinky red rest on his face. Ushijima's eyes glancing up at Tendou, his eyes stuck in a trance with glittering red staring back. Mouths agape at the sites of each.
Tendou's lips curled upwards giving the biggest smile Ushijima has seen from him that night. "You promise to come see me again!" was the last thing he heard from the swaying red hair, cherry eyes and fair skinned Yokai boy, "Yes." as the next thing he heard was the voice of his parents yelling from the start of the stairs.
He looked down to them, just like always. He sighs, turning to look back at Tendou. But to his surprise Tendou was gone from sight. The hands he was hold close to him disappeared from his grips. Letting a gasp out of shock.
"Tendou?" he frowns, searching around, a little tight feeling in his chest with a loss of breath. "Wakatoshi it's time to leave!" his mother called. 'But I don't want to leave.' he though looking to his parents waiting on him for moments, staring back and forth over his shoulder waiting to see if he was really gone. But there was no sign of the dazzling face he stared into moments ago. With a quiet exhaled he forces himself to trudged down the stairs letting his grandma take his hand as they left the Shrine.
Staring back sadly to atop of the stairs. That was the last time he saw the other boy.
