[ad_1] GG News Bureau Lucknow, 30th Oct. In a pre-Diwali relief initiative, over 29 lakh destitute women in Uttar Pradesh have received the third installment of their pensions under the state’s Nirashrit Mahila Pension Yojana, the government announced Thursday. The early release, directed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, aims to ensure financial support for impoverished women to celebrate Diwali and Chhath with dignity. According to a state government press release, the pension program provides Rs 1,000 monthly to widows aged 18 and above, whose annual family income is under Rs 2 lakh. Recipients must not be enrolled in any other state or central pension scheme, making it a crucial support for women without other means of assistance. Chief Minister Adityanath emphasized the importance of this timely aid, instructing officials to ensure every eligible woman receives benefits promptly. He reinforced the government’s goal of “lighting every home” during Diwali, particularly those of the state’s most vulnerable. The 2024-25 fiscal year has seen pension distribution under this scheme in three installments, with Rs 90,176.91 lakh allocated to 29.03 lakh beneficiaries in the latest round. The first two installments saw Rs 78,838.54 lakh and Rs 91,517.75 lakh disbursed to 26.12 lakh and 28.47 lakh beneficiaries, respectively. This year, the program introduced an Aadhaar-based Payment System and Public Financial Management System (PFMS), streamlining direct transfers to beneficiaries’ bank accounts, enhancing transparency, and ensuring timely payments. Huge Turnout of Devotees at Ayodhya Ram Temple Following 'Pran Pratishtha'
The highly anticipated opening of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya has drawn massive crowds a day after the grand consecration ceremony, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and attended by numerous political figures and celebrities.
Prior to the temple’s public opening, a surge of devotees gathered at the site, with crowds assembling as early as 3 am. The gates will be accessible to the public from 7 am to 11:30 am and again from 2 pm to 7 pm.
The ‘pran pratishtha’ rituals unfolded yesterday, featuring PM Modi paying homage to the Ram Lalla idol. Distinguished guests, including Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, graced the ceremony with their presence.
Expressing his sentiments on Twitter, Prime Minister Modi stated, “The extraordinary moment of the consecration of Shri Ram Lalla’s life in Ayodhya Dham is going to leave everyone emotional. It is my great pleasure to be a part of this divine programme. Jai Siya Ram!”
Post the rituals, PM Modi addressed a gathering of approximately 8,000 individuals, comprising seers, Ram Janmabhoomi movement affiliates, and figures from various fields. The Prime Minister also visited Kuber Tila and engaged with workers contributing to the temple’s construction.
While the ceremony was broadcast nationwide, senior BJP leaders like JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah opted for live streaming. However, Opposition leaders chose to abstain from the event, leading to political disagreements between the BJP and the Opposition.
Several BJP-governed states declared the day a holiday, encouraging people to witness the ceremony on TV and partake in local temple festivities. Ayodhya’s atmosphere was further heightened by a devotional “Mangal Dhwani,” featuring 50 traditional musical instruments from across the country.
The construction of the Ram Temple concluded a protracted legal battle, culminating in the Supreme Court’s verdict in November 2019 in favor of the temple. Prime Minister Modi, in a national address, heralded the consecration of Ram Lalla’s idol as the dawn of a new era.
Addressing the nation, PM Modi remarked, “I have come before you as you witness the divine consciousness in the temple’s sanctum sanctorum. There’s so much to say, but there’s a lump in my throat. After unprecedented patience, innumerable sacrifices, and penance, our Lord Ram has arrived. I congratulate the country on this occasion.”
PM Modi called for unity, emphasizing that the temple signifies not just triumph but also humility, underscoring India’s maturity in resolving historical disputes. He urged critics to reconsider their perspectives, highlighting that Ram symbolizes energy, not fire, and is a solution, not a dispute.
“The construction of this temple of Ram Lalla is also a symbol of the Indian society’s peace, patience, and mutual harmony. We can see this has not given birth to a fire, but an energy,” he affirmed in a powerful and emotional post-consecration speech, invoking the spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbkam,’ stating that Ram defines the world as a family.

UP: Survey Shows High Dropout Rates Among Girls, Rising Popularity of Private Tuition
The percentage of children in classes 1 to 8 taking paid private tuition in UP increased from 15.9% in 2018 to 23.7% in 2022.
Lucknow: There has been an over 7.9% increase in the proportion of school-going children taking paid tuition classes in Uttar Pradesh in 2022, in comparison to pre-Covid-19 levels, according to the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) 2022 launched on Wednesday.
According to the ASER, the overall enrollment to private tuition across the state has increased at all levels despite the prolonged closure of schools. The nationwide survey was resumed after a gap of four years. However, the percentage of children in classes 1 to 8 in Uttar Pradesh taking paid private tuition increased from 15.9% in 2018 to 23.7% in 2022. Nationally, the figure stood at 30.5%.
In UP, the survey was conducted in 2,096 villages across 70 districts and included 91,158 children in the age group of 3–16 from 41,910 households.
While the enrollment of girls in schools improved in 2022, the considerable drop in their percentage at a higher secondary level remained worrisome, according to the survey.
Against the country-wide average of 2%, the percentage of girls in the age group of 11–14 years not enrolled in schools in Uttar Pradesh stood at 4%. However, this number has significantly reduced over time. It was 11.1% in 2006 and 7.4% in 2018, the findings suggested.
On the other hand, following Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh has the second highest number of girls in the 15–16 age group not enrolled in schools. Only three states — MP (17%), UP (15%), and Chhattisgarh (11.2%) — have more than 10% of girls in this age group who are out of school, even when the national average stood at 7.9%.
Sunil Kumar, state coordinator of ASER, told NewsClick that things have changed in the last few decades, but a lot still needs to be done in terms of the percentage of women’s literacy and higher education.
Under the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FNL) mission of the NIPUN Bharat programme launched by the Union education ministry in 2020, the goal is to cover 100% of children from class 3 by 2025. “Going by the findings of ten years, it seems an uphill task to complete the target in three years. UP still needs a big push in the coming two years,” Kumar said.
Discussing dropout rates, Kumar further said, “Uttar Pradesh has the highest dropout rates in the country in terms of girls. The overall percentage of dropout rate is 4% in the age group of 11–14 while it increased to 15% girls in the 15–16 age group. As the age increases, the dropout rate of girls also increases. This is worrisome because it happened even after running the School Chalo Abhiyan campaign aggressively.”
Speaking to NewsClick, Naresh Paras, an Agra-based child rights activist, said he believes there are two reasons behind the dropouts of girls. “First, poverty forces teenage girls to work along with families to make ends meet. The other reason is gender gap; parents don’t allow their daughters to attend a school where the boys’ strength is stronger than girls. Further, in rural areas, girls are levied with the responsibility to take care of her younger siblings.”
Meanwhile, to ensure 100% enrolment in primary and upper primary schools in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ from Shravasti district in April 2022.
“Take every child to school, register them, provide them with facilities like free uniforms, books, bags, shoes, socks and sweaters, etc.,” Adityanath said at the inauguration event. However, there are lakhs of poor students of government primary schools in UP who lack school uniforms, shoes and bags.
Talking about the possibilities of the trend to opt for private tution, the UP coordinator of ASER further said, “The parents do not want to compromise on the quality of education. A number of private schools have been closed during Covid-19. Therefore, either any member of the family is supporting the children or sending them to private tuition for a better education.”

The Kerala Story” Film Sparks Controversy and Success
“The Kerala Story,” a recently released film, has been causing quite a stir. Despite receiving negative reviews from critics, it has grossed an impressive Rs 68.86 crore in just six days. The film’s director, Sudipto Sen, has been praised for shedding light on the issue of young Hindu women being converted and recruited by the terrorist group Islamic State (IS) in Kerala. The film’s box office success has been remarkable, with its collections increasing each day. On Sunday, it earned a little over Rs 16 crore and on Wednesday, it earned its highest figures yet with an impressive Rs 12 crore India nett. “The Kerala Story” has even outperformed big films from the last two years such as “Laal Singh Chaddha,” “Selfiee,” and “Shehzada,” and has earned more than three times as much as “Ponniyin Selvan 2” in the Hindi market.
The film’s success can be attributed to the support of the ruling BJP government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi even mentioned it in a recent speech, giving it exposure despite negative reviews. It has been made tax-free in states like Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana but it is banned in West Bengal. The cast and crew of “The Kerala Story” recently met with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to discuss the film’s story and praised his government’s efforts to curb ‘love jihad’ and forced religious conversion through the Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Ordinance, 2020.The meeting with Yogi Adityanath has added to the controversy surrounding the film, with opposition parties accusing the filmmakers of spreading hate. However, “The Kerala Story” continues to succeed at the box office and its impact on the conversation surrounding religious conversion and terrorism remains to be seen.

[ad_1] 2 min read Last Updated : Oct 15 2024 | 3:40 PM IST The proposed mega textile park in Uttar Pradesh has netted investment proposals to the tune of ~10,000 crore from domestic textile and garment majors. Companies looking to set up units in the UP Textile Park spanning 1,162 acres include Reliance Industries, Arvind Mills, Vardhman and Ahuja Textile Mills, among others. Click here to connect with us on WhatsApp In all, about 400 big and small textile manufacturing and processing plants may come up in the textile park in Lucknow-Hardoi districts. Recently, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the textile hub was estimated to attract a total investment of ~15,000 crore. It would create 300,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities. “Marquee textile companies have evinced interest in setting up plants in the UP Textile Park. About a dozen companies have sought details about land allocation,” a state government official said. Moreover, the textile park plans to capitalise upon the disruption in the textiles sector of Bangladesh, following a political upheaval. This reportedly led to the closure of 800-1,000 small and medium textile units in that country. With India targeting garment exports of $100 billion in the next five years, the UP Textile Park will bolster domestic production to achieve the goal. “The textile park will firmly establish India as a global textile, garment and apparels major. To achieve the export target, we will formulate policies to promote apparel, garments, fibre, textiles and threads, among others,” said UP MSME, khadi and textile minister Rakesh Sachan. The textile park will not only comprise manufacturing and processing units, but encompass an entire textiles value chain. The facility will provide training, marketing, designing, packaging, manpower, consultancy and export services. Traditionally, UP boasts of major textile hubs of Varanasi, Lucknow, Bhadohi and Gorakhpur. Since, the textiles sector is among the largest employment generators, the government is propelling it. The state also tied up with Raymond for skills training of youth in garmenting and tailoring. On his recent visit to Lucknow, Raymond chairman and managing director Gautam Singhania termed UP as an important textile market.First Published: Oct 15 2024 | 3:40 PM IST [ad_2] Source link

“Bring 100 MLAs here, we are with you, and become CM whenever you want.” Akhilesh Yadav
Thursday was an exciting day for the political scenario in Uttar Pradesh as the Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav made an offer to two Uttar Pradesh deputy chief ministers Keshav Maurya and Brajesh Pathak asking them to bring 100 MLAs and become the CM of the state.
Akhilesh while attending and addressing a rally in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh said “There are 2 Deputy CMs in the state. Both of them are looking for an opportunity to become a CM. We have come to give them an offer, bring 100 MLAs here, we are with you, and become CM whenever you want.”
He also took a dig at the UP government for "harassing" senior leader Azam Khan through "fake cases".
“No one is more powerful than time. Those who are doing atrocities, I want to tell them that a file of the current chief minister was presented before me (as CM) but we are Samajwadis and we neither practice politics of hatred nor harass others. I had returned the file (against Adityanath)... If you don't trust me, ask the officers,” the SP chief said.
Akhilesh served as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh from 2012-2017 after which Yogi Adityanath of BJP took the reins in his hands.
“Don't force us to become heartless because when we form the government, we too can initiate the same action against you,” he added.
On Thursday, Akhilesh Yadav, Azam Khan, and Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad were collectively campaigning in Rampur for the SP candidate ahead of the December 5 by-poll.
