My TLJ Pros and cons review (spoilers)

WOOT! i saw tlj!!!

PROS:

REYLOOOOOOOO! We are blessed my brethren!! Force bond, “you’re not alone”, sexual tension, badass fighting power couple, it’s all canon baby!!

Force bond. It was fucking perfection. I cant believe we called it.

Gorgeous visuals. Fuckin beautiful. Especially crait, that red and white, oof!

Curmudgeonly hermit Luke nope-ing the fuck out of his own legacy. Totally slamming fanboy devotion to him by rejecting his own legendary status. Brilliant, and hilarious.

Poe and Hux have characters now! Im still not crazy about either, but they don’t annoy me anymore! happy day.

Poor put upon frog nuns

Fuckin puppet porgs. I love that they used puppets. Even when they were obviously fake it was still cute and funny.

Crystal foxes! On the subject of puppet creatures the foxes were beautiful and actually served a purpose! Cool!

Rose! She’s a cute patoot. Her first scene with Finn is their best scene.

BB8 is a bamf yo.

Snoke is fuckin dead. I didn’t know I wanted this but I like it. Fuck Snoke, my boi Kylo fucked u up good

Supremacy fight!!! Praetorian guards eat shit! Otp fighting back to back, best action sequence, best power couple fuckin shit up

Holdo’s light speed cruiser bullet just totally wrecking the FO hot damn

Luke’s astral projection. Cool, brilliant, a good twist. A perfect sendoff for luke.

FINNREY REUNION HUG!!! LOOKIT THE PEANUTS SNUGGLING!

Rey Random is canon!!!! My dreams come true.

Kylo is literally Mr Darcy. smh.

THE FORCE BOND IS STILL THERE. SNOKE DIDN’T DO THAT SHIT, LYING FUCKER. THIS IS THE WILL OF THE FORCE.

Hux is everybody’s punching bag, but I think he’s about had enough. Cant wait for him to usurp the supreme leadership and be the final big bad.

CONS:

Sadly, Finn kind of did get the shaft in this film. Not much development, rushed plot. His character could have been handled better

Finn and Rose’s b plot felt clumsy and rushed. Mostly i think canto bight was a mistake. Too much hijinks and spectacle, not enough characterization, they had chemistry but I didn’t feel their connection. (the kiss was still sweet though, I think Rose has a crush on Finn and he doesn’t quite reciprocate, but he will )

A few moments that would have hit harder without the comedy one-liners.

Writing was a little blunt at times. Could have been more subtle.

I wish we got to see more of the force bond. The change in reylo’s dynamic did happen kind of fast. I can understand someone thinking it came out of nowhere if they’d never considered reylo before. If we just had a little more time with them...

DJ. he’s cool...but he kind of comes out of nowhere.

Maz. why was she in this movie? It would have been smoother to just skip her cameo and find the “master code breaker” without her input.

The constant use of the phrase “master code breaker.” Kind of cringey.

Overall pacing had a few hiccups. Not too bad but noticeable. Flipping between Rey and Finn’s stories got a little confusing cuz of the time frame disparity.

Verdict: i am pleased. very fun movie. very thought provoking. very reylo. much star. so wars. wow.
