Mujika definitly needs more than just one outfit. White dresses and green tendrils would surely suit her 💚🌿

TPN S2Ep1 Review
I’m so happy to be back doing these reviews! This time I’m quite on time, as the episode came out today, but no guarantee for future episodes haha (does anyone know how many episodes this season will have?). Without further ado, I’ll write about my highlights and thoughts for this episode.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It started out with a sudden demon chase scene, and although that’s super different from the manga’s starting point, I think it’s good for suspense and gets you right back into the action. It then cuts to the new opening “Identity”, I really like the song! The art for this opening is pretty great as well, seeing the kids lying on plates gave me the chills.
Before getting to the characters, I want to first point out how cool the magical creatures look. We’ve got the floating bugs that kept appearing in this episode and I thought that was really pretty and a clever way to light Sonju up when he was standing behind Ray. The blood-red jellyfish looks awesome as well.

Here we have a few goofy moments that reminded me how precious these kids are. I didn’t include Ray’s promise to protect the family, though it’s in the collage I made. I found Gilda’s “southeast is between south and east” joke really funny.

Next up is the Minerva pen, the visuals for the map look really cool! The way it flickers is just how I imagined it. And there’s also Ray running from the demons, look at my baby go... (I saved some more pictures of Ray but I picked this one to share because he looked really nice).

And last but not least, MUSICA IS FINALLY HERE!! I was screeching in excitement because she’s there! Finally moving and speaking. I’m really happy the OP and ED put such a heavy focus on her (and Sonju). Her sickly color and muted purples look really cool. The cave her and Sonju were living in had really nice lighting as well. The eerie green properly gave off that unsettling atmosphere.

Those were my favorite moments from this episode, I’m looking forward to this magical season!

One thing you forgot to mention in your Peter Ratri is Mujika's, her Clan and their blood.
Hi, thanks for the ask! So I think my posts about Peter Ratri are kinda interpretended in a way I didn’t intend, because I keep receiving plot-related asks like this. It has been over a year since I read TPN manga, and I haven’t even watched the anime’s second season yet. As it has been a good while since I refreshed my memory, let me tell you what’s left on my mind:
• Peter Ratri — and the fact that he was “strong” enough to fight against his brother to maintain the pre-established balance of the promise even if it costed him the person he loved and respected the most
• Ray — and his character growth.
• Norman — and his complex character arc that just added too much pressure on a 13 years old, but nevertheless ended in a heartwarming way.
That’s it. These are the things that left a permanent impact on me. I don’t really feel like I have to justify why I like Peter Ratri, or why he’s an interesting character. Sure, plot could go this way or that way. It just doesn’t change the fact that I enjoy him, I enjoy the little screentime he gets, and I cherish all the beautiful James & Peter flashbacks? I just love him, period. Even if he’s a character that has done visibly bad things, I just love him. I don’t really need to dig through ten thousands pages of TPN manga to explain why I love him. I don’t remember most of the storyline except dor the basic points, anyway.
In an attempt to answer your ask, though. As much as I remember, Musica’s existence was a myth until very recently. Musica was on the run and Queen had ordered her to be killed or something, even Norman was shocked to discover that Musica was real and alive and present in their day. There is an entire demon powered burocracy that specifically prevents demons from getting Musica’s blood, so that demons can live human-dependent, so that the demon authorities can have a dictatorship-related control on human society. This was been going on for at least a thousands of years, if I remember correctly.
I’d like to ask everyone who judges Peter Ratri and immediately cancels him out a single question:
How easily can you stand up against the roles given to you in your own life?
How easily can you throw away what is “working” in a more or less safe way, just for a likely unrealistic ideal that risks the lives of ALL human beings in the world, as well as the lives of ALL demons, at the risk of a WAR?
How easily can you let go of what has been thought you to be RIGHT and honorable?
How easily can you give up the shape of IDENTITY you and your family has emposed on you? This alone can take a lifetime of therapy, assuming you do not carry the burden of a war on your shoulders, as well as the “betrayal” of your kind-hearted, yet idealistic and air-headed sibling.
One more question:
How realistic is Emma’s approach?
To me, none. As Emma became the typical “never give up” character that got through the entire story with minimal number of losses, TPN manga’s storyline lost it’s charm to me in the first place. I had expected something like Attack on Titan when I started reading the Escape Arc, but what we received was quite basic. In a realistic view, Emma would have died long ago, just like what happened to Yuugo and Lucas’ family. I just say Emma has a plot-armor, which makes me, personally, feel like this plot armor made all her achievements just so easy and hence not-taken-into-my-heart. (Despite everything, TPN was a pleasing read, though. But I have all rights to feel what I feel about it ended.)
Long story short, Peter Ratri is like many of us in real life.
Peter is not a stupid character. He knows it’s wrong to kill people— people of his own species. But so does many people in real life who cause deaths of many, directly or indirectly.
Peter can see there may be a better way out— but he is too scared to act on it, for very valid reasons, such as the low possibility of it happening, getting himself killed, starting a world war that may cause both humans and demons to go extinct, to break a promise that has been working for THOUSANDS OF YEARS.
What if Peter chose to act, but he failed to overtake the demon government?
What would the consequences be?
A war with some weird creatures that no normal humans are even aware of. A chaos in the demon world as well. Destruction of a promise that, along with sacrifices, protected both their worlds. Not to mention his own personal “failure” to be the heir of the clan Peter was so proud of— which is completely valid to be concerned about, to think that Peter is, in the end, a human looking over horrible things. I think it’s like looking at homeless people and maybe giving them some money or food but then you don’t do it next day OR not to every single homeless person in the world because that’s just out of your power unless you are extremely rich, so in order to protect your mental health, you overloook. I am not saying it’s nice to kill children, obviously. I just genuinely don’t understand how people don’t notice how very HUMAN of Peter Ratri to act this way. How very normal, to consider everything Peter lived though.
I just think, unlike Emma, Peter is extremely realistic. And when he noticed— when he noticed that there IS another way, as you said, when he noticed that James’s visualization of a better world could in fact come to true, and he had in fact, been on the way— he had in fact, prevented kids who could live, from living—
He killed himself.
Although those same kids spared him, Peter killed himself, and he spared them the key to other world before so. He was no longer fighting with these kids because the promise was remade, hence, it was not due to a stupid pride issue of “i’Ll kILl tHem aLl.” to me, at least, to Nila, his actions were made out of a genuine fear of war— of bringing unnecessary conflict and loss to a “functioning” society.
Anyways, thanks for the ask! I just woke up for my morning midterm and I was planning to take a break from studying, so receiving a question about one of my favorite characters made me so happy! What a refreshing analysis! Ah, happy Thursday, off I go!
