Some HS!YJ lore for you while I suffer from this headache:

Despite being a student athlete and lead cheerleader, Bart is probably the smartest in his class and does well in school. He got Max’s help as well as help from his teachers to learn in ways that best suit him and his neurodivergence!!! It took some time but eventually he found ways to succeed : ) giving Bart a win here because why not

Buuuut Bart also has a habit of daydreaming and falling asleep in school which sometimes gets in the ways of things.

Thad is in this au because fuck you that’s why. Probably fits the best as an ALT/emo/goth theater kid (behind the scenes not acting) who is the polar opposite of Bart. They’re just twins/brothers in this

Tim is the student council-President , part of photography club, yearbook club and other various clubs. Super nerdy. Despite being a bit antisocial Bart hangs around him all the time and drowns Tim in silly physical affection (hugs usually, holding his hand, borrowing Tim’s ugly ass brown jacket) . Tim melts every time

Kon is your generic bad boy. Leather jacket baby. Misunderstood. Hangs around Bart and Tim and Cassie. Has a crush on Bart. Maybe on Tim too. Likes coming to Barts games/pep rally to support the bestie.

Cissie is also a cheerleader!!! Barts bestie

YJ theater kid au headcanons

Kaldur is the club president but the most senior member is Will

Kaldur never wants to be the leading man but he always ends up being the leading man.

And he’s always amazing.

One time he finally got them to do a play with a female starring role but both the actress and her understudy got sick so they had to do a gender bend version because Kaldur was the only one who memorized the entire script.

It was really good actually, they’re never doing Emma traditionally again.

Mr. Smith is the club advisor but they interact with Ms. Lance, the choir teacher, a lot. She directs any musicals they do.

Megan is amazing at make up and hair and costuming (what do you expect from the daughter of tv and movie stars Marie Logan and Rita Farr?)

Raquel is one of the most recent members of the club so she doesn’t know any of the history/interpersonal drama.

She also writes plays.

Bruce Wayne and Oliver Queen always compete over who can donate the most money to the drama department.

Wally is a stage hand because he can’t act to save his life.

Babs does lights and sound but she also can act.

Every time they’re picking a new play, Conner wants to do something with a live animal. And Kaldur has a harder and harder time rejecting the idea.

Artemis meanwhile only wants to play parts that sword fight and will try to work sword fights even into plays where its wildly inappropriate.

I’ve been trying to sell my happy death day AU for years!!! It’s my favorite AU outside imaging yj wally becoming JLU Wally after he creased tbh. I love that movie and honestly Tree reminded me a lot of early flash years Wally…plus imagining Wally doing tree’s emotionally tired and angry screaming tour across the quad after she’s been through this day waaaaaaaaay to many times. With Linda and Hartley by his side (who despite being dragged along every cycle don’t remember) watching this maybe stranger loose it but are sorta down to be part of this scifi comedy plus I think it works for the tone of how I like Wally’s stories to be “uts fun, it’s scifi camp, but with a really strong emotional core” plus I love imagining weird speedforce puberty problems causing time fuck ups.

However outside the loop the justice league, team, and Barry (who was on a mission somewhere else) are freaking out. Though I go back and forth on whether the Villain would be Christina/Lady Savitar or Hunter Zolomon or just fucking Reverse Flash, the prick himself.

My ideal yj Linda would have been the semi overachiever no nonsense student who takes the school paper way too seriously and tries to get “real” stories landing herself in the way of super villains way too often for a normal 17 year old (she’s a grade older than Wally tbh), she figured out Wally was kid flash all on her own and told him she wouldn’t tell anyone so long as she gave him some stories and cue a weird friendship between the science geek and weird news girl (and that’s not all, when you include voted most likely to be a future rogue rebel rich kid Hartley R. who is totally a band theater kid and extreme overachiever freshmen Jesse Quick who is practically Wally’s little cousin, who likes to pretend they don’t know each other) I also am partial to Linda being on the school’s hockey team and Wally wears her jersey sometimes or well, he made himself one to support her. They aren’t cool kids by any stretch of means and they are completely goey and overly cute with each other but they are on the same wave length. Like Wally unironically uses “hot sauce” as a nickname for Linda in canon in the newest flash issues. They are so sweet it rots your teeth. However, unlike Artemis and Wally in the show, in my AU, the orbit each other for a lot longer before they get together officially…

Linda is sorta Wally’s girlfriend from Canada that the team doesn’t think exists until M’gann accidentally instagram sloothes her way to wally’s civilian account where he is always posting pics of him and her. And she’s like holy shit she’s real.

HAPPY DEATH DAY AU!!! tree and wally are so similar it's not even funny!!! you're absolutely right!! this scifi, camp, weirdly emotionally deep movie is everything wally's stories should be and more! wally accidentally creating a westview-like time bubble around central and everyone else on the planet freaking the fuck out as he is freaking the fuck out over the whole thing but from the inside. employing the help of linda (who loves wally but is really worried about him... hart he's acting weird and talking crazier than usual) and hart (linda i'm sure it's fine you know how stem kids are) to help him figure it out (and him and linda end up together like tree and carter <3333)

2. HOW DID YOU KNOW I HC YJ!LINDA AS OLDER THAN WALLY in my mind he skipped a grade so she's older than him but they're in the same grade!! also science dweeb wally and journalism dweeb linda and theater dweeb hart <3 just unapologetic weirdos!!! wally west and his Gang of Losers represent for the weird kids!! just like the kids in the top ten of the class who actually study for the SAT and ACT and genuinely care about APs and getting into a good college and are also just like. odd. thats ME i'm HER no im not projecting fuck off. i also have a specific hc that wally is a hobbyist/amateur photographer and that he has like different digital and film cameras and he's the obnoxious friend who's like "wait no don't move stay exactly like that you look amazing" and so his ig is just a crazy puzzle of all his closest friends (but he doesn't tag ANYBODY! the jerk.) and so meg is like detective hat on combing through his ig and trying to piece together who hart and linda are because robin and artemis are CONVINCED they aren't real but she wants to give wally the benefit of the doubt

3. wally and linda definitely don't get together until college (they go to the same school and meet up for coffee all the time, despite having completely different areas of study) and their brains are always going at like 100%. i feel like she can keep up with him in a way that a lot of people can't and she listens to his silly rambles and lets him explain things to her and she falls in love with him when she's ranting about a professor and a project and the ethics of journalism and the moral responsibility an author has to their audience and the death of true journalism and later he sends her a bunch of articles and essays about it asking if they're good reading material and she's like "oh. oh" and then she like kisses him one night outside her dorm building because he walked her home so he could listen to her talk some more and he tastes like coffee and her nose mashes into his face uncomfortably and she opens her eyes before its over and she can count all the freckles on his face and like. it's objectively the worst first kiss ever but it's so them that she can't help but smile and he's smiling too and then the rest is history.

Could you suggest some Batfam prompts you'd like to see?

As in things I'd personally like to see written out by other people?

I almost think this is a trap to trick me into writing more things on my own by making me start describing them, anon. because it almost worked.

There's a couple like "what-if" prompts scattered around my blog, like if Dick Grayson were raised by a villain (Joker for example) and was reformed under Bruce but still had residual mental scars to hide from people (the cartoon YJ team, specifically) (I think in general I'd just like a kind of "mystery arc" for Robin like we got with the other kids, though I understand why it didn't happen.)

I really like AU's and what-ifs. I got a fantastic prompt in my askbox that I assume is from German Naruto Anon that was like "what if Bruce and Batman WERE seperate people" like, not split personality ableism shit, but like. literally different people. And I tried to write it out three times and my computer ate it EVERY TIME oh my god it was so beautiful. But that is a prompt I'd love to see more of. Like. What if Batman was anyone but Bruce Wayne, or what if something small changed? (like Roadtrip Vigilantes is just “what if Batman stayed with the league of assassins longer; that’s all it is man. that’s ALL that changed. And Monarchs to Behold is a ‘’for want of a nail’ story about Bruce deciding that just saving Gotham isn’t enough, and t turns into a villain story.)

So things like.... if Bruce Wayne and Batman were different people.... but that’s ALL that changed.

Bruce Wayne is still an easily upset, traumatized, fake-it-with-a-smile-and-do-charity person, he just... no longer has the batman outlet. But he still provides Batman with gadgets and shit, because Batman uses Wayne Tech. Bruce’s children are still Robins.

And Batman is a stranger.

Like. What kind of story does that yield?

YJ Artemis thinks that Batman is to Robin as Sportsmaster is to her and Cheshire.

More stories from the JL as a disconnected league; what does (for example) Wonder Woman do that Batman doesn’t, and vice versa? And how do they connect separately? Judging from the WW movie (which I just got out of for my second viewing ueuheuheuhehuehueee) Diana will protect humans but wants them to sort things out on their own; Bruce is that human, sorting out small scale things as best he can to help the whole picture. How does that read between them? How do you Teach someone like, say, Jason, an upset kid, that Wonder Woman can’t always come down to Crime Alley to save him and his mother specifically, and that its a human problem, and Diana is... something else, who is being merciful by helping at all

more bruce being a Human Among These Fucking Gods. and being a father among these gods. Does he ever come home and look at his busy but successful kids, and feel his tiring bones of the years passing, and he sits down with a heat pack and just... aches? While the world is going by, and he won’t be a part of it forever, and did he do enough right...? Is he going to be happy in his old age, or just... tired and sad...?

I think i just want trauma works i’m so sorry batman is my trauma story i’m so sorry. bruce can’t go to movie theaters anymore.

Maybe the JL people try to arrange a “get to know you” movie night at Green Lantern’s personal theater so they don’t have to remove costumes and Batman gets bullied into going basically (you think “batmna wouldn’t let himeslf be bullied” i’m sorry to inform you that Alfred Bullies Him Sometimes) and it turns... bad

I swear I don’t hate Alfred I just wish he wouldn’t be given all Bruce’s good traits and made into a saint figure. So maybe, as a prompt, one day, Alfred Fucks Up Badly. This family’s only human, okay. That’s the important thing. Bruce is human and that’s compelling. Alfred is human and that’s unfortunate.

The Day Dick Grayson Learns Bruce is Mortal, and Realizes Bruce has been Scolding Him for Being Mortal, What a Hypocrite, You’re Not Allowed to Leave Me, Too, Bruce.

alternatively: The day Bruce Wayne isn’t home when he said he’d be. His phone isn’t picking up. He didn’t have a mission, he just had a late night snack. There’s no news of kidnapping or major police activity in Gotham, but.... Dick googles traffic accidents, and there’s been a fatal collision on the road that leads up to the manor. No names have yet been released.

Mercury Falling AU: Theatre

It's been three weeks since Thad came to stay and Helen is still on edge most of the time, but that feeling goes away a little bit every time he does something genuine.

For example, completely forgetting the word "stairs", getting so caught up in reading that you could bang pots and pans next to him and he wouldn't notice, and those moments where he gets so excited just explaining things that he speeds up to the point that no one who's not a speedster can understand him.

However, Helen makes sure to never fully trust him because, well, he impersonated Bart so well that she doesn't trust herself to be able to tell if he's acting or not.

Meanwhile, Bart "I didn't think that driving the semi into that building would make it collapse" Allen is currently grounded from super-heroics for a week. (And video games. And comics.)

Bart thinks that's bullcrap.

Two days into the grounding, Bart gets a call from Kon saying that they're throwing a huge party at the Young Justice mansion. He starts rattling off what they've got: multiple ball pits, laser tag, no less then five bounce houses, live music, and whatever a "Marshmallow Buffet" is. (And much, much more)

His immediate impulse is to run there right away, but he stops himself when he remembers that Max and Helen have been checking in on him every hour.

He thinks of a plan for a long time (actually three seconds) and realizes that there's only one thing that would work. He hates it, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

After hours upon hours (five minutes) of begging and pleading, Thad finally caves and agrees to help. (In exchange for dozens of favors)

Downstairs, Helen feels a burst of wind pass her. Moments later, she hears the kitchen faucet turn on.

She peeks around the corner and sees Bart doing the dishes. Without being told to, at normal speed. Understandably, she is a bit thrown off by this. But she comes to the conclusion that Bart is just trying to get his grounding shortened. Since that's not really a problem, she leaves him to it.

A half hour later, the dishes are done, Bart takes the garbage out. And once he's done with that, he starts vacuuming. And after that, he runs upstairs and takes his homework into the living room and starts doing it calmly.

Now Helen thinks something's up. And, now that she thinks about it, his hair looks a bit... off. But there's only one way she can think of to confirm what she's thinking.

She changes the TV channel to cartoons.

Bart doesn't even glance up.

She leans over and pulls on a tiny bit of his hair.

All of his hair moves with it.

She yanks the wig off, startling Thad.

He starts to ask how she knew, but Helen cuts him off, demanding "Where's Bart!?"

He responds "At some Young Justice party!" and, as he says that, Craydl hijacks the TV and turns it to live footage of Bart outside the YJ mansion, just shoveling marshmallows into his mouth. In the background, they see Slobo jumping off the roof onto a bounce house. It deflates on impact.

Helen sighs in relief as she feels her blood pressure dropping. Thad actually looks pretty bummed out.

After a tense silence, Thad mutters "How did you figure it out? I did the same things I did last time I impersonated him."

Thad saying that gives Helen an epiphany: Thad was never a good actor, they only fell for it because of Max's condition.

Helen doesn't know how to respond in a way that wouldn't hurt his feelings, so she just goes for it.

"You're not that good of an actor."

Thad visibly deflates at that.

She quickly adds "But..." Thad turns away from the floor to look at her "there is a way you can get better."

She later calls Max to tell him where Bart went.  It is not an easy task making him come back, and it's only made harder when Max accidentally lets it slip that they're adding something to his grounding.

He only comes back when he's told that they're not adding time, just a little something extra he has to do.

A couple days later, Bart shuffles his way to breakfast, looking positively shell-shocked. He sits and looks across the table at Max and Helen, eyes haunted, and asks "Who told Thad about the Theater Club?"

Once he sees that he's not getting an answer, Bart lets his head fall onto the table. He mumbles "Just tell me what I have to do so I can get away from... from that."

Max says "You're not going to like it."

Bart replies "Please, I'll do anything!"

Max feels a bit bad saying what's next: "You have to help Thad with his line reads."

Bart slides out of the chair and onto the floor, whining "Whyyyyyy, he's sooooooooooo baaaaaaaaaaaad."

"Well, you were the one who brought it to our attention that he needed help."

Bart lets out an elongated groan before climbing back up onto the chair. If he's gonna have to do this, he's not gonna do it on an empty stomach.

He doesn't hate it as much as he thought he would. Well, most of his enjoyment comes from flubbing his lines and making Thad mad.

It's not ideal, but at least they're not trying to actively beat each other up for once.

-bart is somehow every spot-op (lights) (or maybe he’s also backstage. somehow.)

-anita is running the sound board

-kon is an actor

-cissie is an actor and also dance captain

-greta is wardrobe

ALSO it’s important to note that cassie, tim, anita, and bart are all on headset together

YJ theater kid au headcanons...2!!

They do a gender swapped Grease and it’s. Amazing. Definitely better than regular Grease.

Raquel and Mal help rewrite the script for it.

Of course Dick plays Sandy and Artemis plays Danny (Zatanna wanted to play Teen Angel)

Kaldur stage managed it and was really glad it turned out well because he hates the original Grease.

He thought maybe this meant he wouldn’t always have to be the lead but then they did gay Romeo and Juliet and he couldn’t not be Romeo.

Yes there was major competition over Juliet. Yes Will won.

They all work together to build sets but Conner is the best at it and will spend time in wood shop and metal shop (yes he takes both) to perfect the sets.

Tula and Garth are usually crew. Sometimes they play extras.

Donna isn’t part of the club but she makes out with Babs in the sound booth.

Giovanni has canceled his own performances to go see Zatanna’s plays opening night.

M’gann is almost always the leading lady. She is incredible at impressions and accents.

They always go to Bibbo’s for the wrap party and stay way too late and eat way too many waffles.
