Marvel Comics and WEBTOON Announce “Eternals: The 500 Year War”

Marvel Comics and WEBTOON have partnered on a 7-issue series - Eternals: The 500 Year War. The vertical Infinity Comics series will highlight the Eternals and the Deviants past encounters around the world. Each issue will feature an international creative team from the country in which the story is told - Brazil, China, France, Japan, South Korea, Spain, and The United Kingdom. I started watching Couple of Mirrors earlier today, and I am fascinated how so many of the characters think they’re in the wrong type of story.

Xie Yifan thinks he’s the hero in a romance, returning after seven years to reunite with his lost love after realizing that she was The One...except she has long since moved on and does not need to deal with him constantly inserting himself into her life.  She hasn’t spent the past seven years pining for him, she doesn’t love him anymore, and to be frank he lost his chance when he dumped her in the first place.  Move on with your life, dude.

Jiang Bin thinks he’s the hardnosed detective working for Justice in the face of all the political corruption trying to sweep crime under the rug...except that he’s such a schmuck I wouldn’t trust him to solve the case of the wet bag found beneath a faucet.  He doesn’t come up with any workable theories beyond pointing the finger at the first person there, can’t hold onto evidence that he has already found, and fixates so much on the political interference that he has no idea what’s really going on.  Get a clue.

Zhou Heng isn’t even sure what type of story he thinks he’s in.   He’s trying to be the Repentant Husband Who Earns Forgiveness, but when he sees it’s not working he spirals all out of control with hiring hitmen.

These guys just have no clue what type of story they’re actually in.

Synopsis :

At 19, Tong Nian (Yang Zi) has the whole world at her feet. But that all changes the day Han Shang Yan (Li Xian) walks into her life.

A genius in his own right, Han Shang Yan is one of the world’s top professional gamers. A legend in the world of esports, Shang Yan is used to living in the spotlight but never once has he let it his position get in the way of his profession. Always working towards that next win, he has never let himself be distracted by the people around him, especially when it comes to women.

Smitten by Hang Shang Yan the moment she first lays eyes on him, Tong Nian tries to find a way to approach her new crush, but can never seem to find the words. Every attempt she makes ends up failing miserably. Cold and uninterested, Shang Yan barely even recognizes Tong Nian’s existence, or so it seems.

Could Tong Nian’s persistence catch the eye of a man who sees no one? To Tong Nian it may seem impossible but everyone knows, anything’s possible when it comes to love.

My thoughts on this drama :

The title of the drama is off putting. It even sounds silly. The story is not. It's about friendship. It's about teamwork. It's about unity toward a same goal. And you know what, it's beautiful! My main dislikes about the drama (and that's what made the rating go down) are the overly bubbly main female lead (too childish, too pink, not clothed well enough) and the repetitive flashbacks that ended up looking like fillers to make it look longer... Otherwise, the characters are all amazing in their own right, and you cannot help to like them all. A special thought for lil' Demo, who's too pure for this world. The main male lead is extremelly charismatic, in the brooding way (but damn when the guy smiles, it's night and day). The gaming/computer programming competition were interesting, though I'm still a bit confused as to what CTF was (I feel like they never explained it in details). A great watch, I recommand.
