Marvel Comics and WEBTOON Announce “Eternals: The 500 Year War”

Marvel Comics and WEBTOON have partnered on a 7-issue series - Eternals: The 500 Year War. The vertical Infinity Comics series will highlight the Eternals and the Deviants past encounters around the world. Each issue will feature an international creative team from the country in which the story is told - Brazil, China, France, Japan, South Korea, Spain, and The United Kingdom. Creators include writers Dan Abnett, Aki Yanagi, Jongmin Shin, Ju-Yeon Park, David Macho, Rafael Scavone, and Yifan Jiang, artists Geoffo, Rickie Yagawa, Do Gyun Kim, Magda Price, Marcio Fiorito, and Gunji, and colorists Matt Milla, Carlos Macias, Fernando Sifuentes, Pete Pantazis, and Felipe Sobreiro.

Eternals: The 500 Year War will premiere on the Marvel Unlimited app, followed by a launch on WEBTOON on January 20, 2022.

I started watching Couple of Mirrors earlier today, and I am fascinated how so many of the characters think they’re in the wrong type of story.

Xie Yifan thinks he’s the hero in a romance, returning after seven years to reunite with his lost love after realizing that she was The One...except she has long since moved on and does not need to deal with him constantly inserting himself into her life.  She hasn’t spent the past seven years pining for him, she doesn’t love him anymore, and to be frank he lost his chance when he dumped her in the first place.  Move on with your life, dude.

Jiang Bin thinks he’s the hardnosed detective working for Justice in the face of all the political corruption trying to sweep crime under the rug...except that he’s such a schmuck I wouldn’t trust him to solve the case of the wet bag found beneath a faucet.  He doesn’t come up with any workable theories beyond pointing the finger at the first person there, can’t hold onto evidence that he has already found, and fixates so much on the political interference that he has no idea what’s really going on.  Get a clue.

Zhou Heng isn’t even sure what type of story he thinks he’s in.   He’s trying to be the Repentant Husband Who Earns Forgiveness, but when he sees it’s not working he spirals all out of control with hiring hitmen.

These guys just have no clue what type of story they’re actually in.
