Lumine was introduced to Xiao via Venti when they were in high school. Venti was one of her seniors at the orphanage. Due to reasons that isn't related to adoption, he left earlier and only met with Lumine again when she almost quit highschool, being involved with the wrong crowd.

Venti got her to go back to school, surprisingly, and even introduced her to Diluc, and Jean who were already in the same school and they kind of took her under their wing as their favorite junior. Kaeya was the one who gave her Paimon, her pet cat as a gift for going to school for a whole 2 months as an encouragement

Lumine and Xiao had the same problems; anger issues. The difference is, Lumine would smile and zone out when she's angry and Xiao would simply refuse to talk and isolate himself. Xiao's family were victims of murders (redacted information). The two were the troubled kids, and in due time, learned to deal with their anger and find kinship (and more!) in each other

Lumine was separated from her brother in foster care and was one of the children who then grew up in the system and left when she was 17, with enough money from part time works and a scholarship she managed to get into college in botany major. Xiao is in history major. They both just want to be teachers tbh

Lumine and Scara are highschool rivals in terms of grades they're always trying to one up each other. Secretly, Lumine was jealous of how he was adopted by a family from Inazuma and kept showing off how rich and influential his family was (they have this conglomerate family with these electrical company business everywhere in the world). However, he is also constantly picking fights with teachers and other students. At the final year exam, there was a massive fight between Scara and one of the teachers, Miss Nahida, leading him to be suspended. Lumine scored the highest that year but she feels annoyed because she's also super competitive

Lumine and her friends didn't know what happened to him afterwards; the rumor mill said that he was whisked away for a private finishing school.

Mona who is basically a legit pyschic and one of Lumine's rag tag friends informs Lumine that it's not all sweet as it looks for Scara and his adopted family.

Lumine's ragtag group of friends consist of Mona, Xiao (also bf), and Kuki.
