For the 100 questions: 31, 32, 53 [with bonus 'What's your favorite thing you've read recently?' implied because I'm nosy]
Something you did and you are proud of? I'm proud of my degree, even though it turned it to be pretty useless, lol. I'm proud I finished Damn Sure Never!
What’s your favourite cocktail? A Manhattan, and i make a damn good one
What kind of books do you read? All kinds! I'm currently doing a star wars reread, so I'm reading a couple of those (Tempest Runner, Vector Prime, The Hidden Past), rereading The Bell Jar (Maggie Gyllenhaal on the audiobook), reading Jurassic Park and It and Glory in Death for the first time....and Middle School Bites is hilarious
Fave thing I've read recently: Lore Olympus! I'm almost to volume 3!

3. Favorite TV shows to watch this year:
I did a lot of rewatching of Murder, She Wrote this year.
Madame Blanc - I was very excited to hear there is more of this now
A League of One's Own (not yet finished but it's been excellent enough so far to definitely get a spot)
Only Murders in the Building
Star Trek: Lower Decks
Abbott Elementary
Dragon Prince
Prehistoric Planet
4. Favorite books read this year
Oh, how do I pick? I'm pretty sure I've left one or two things off from the first half of the year, but here are the ones that come to mind:
Legendborn by Tracy Deonn
The Marvellers by Dhionelle Clayton
A Darkness at the Door by Intisar Khanani (sequel to The Theft of Sunlight)
Touchstones by Stephanie Burgis
Lavender House by A. C. Rosen
Babel by R.F. Kuang
All the Right Reasons by Bethany Mangle
5. Favorite song, album, or artist to listen to this year
Hmm. I listened to a lot more audiobooks and podcasts this year than music, so I'm going to go with something that I wanted to listen to repeatedly but couldn't for a while because the library didn't have it at first, and that's the soundtrack to the Cyrano de Bergerac movie that came out in early 2022.
18. Fandom that you never expected to get into
Our Flag Means Death - I was very curious about this show but I took a while to decide to try it because I was very certain it was going to have far too many things in it that weren't my cup of tea. My curiosity won out eventually and I did really enjoy the show overall, though I didn't get much into the fandom itself.
19. Fandom that made an unexpected comeback
I reread a bunch of old favorite fics for a couple of Downton Abbey ships this year, as well as poking around for new-to-me ones.

Ok I’m pulling from a fandom I haven’t visited in a while...because I’m in my BSG feels right now.
My HC, along with many others I’m sure, is that Laura Roslin and Bill Adama ALWAYS find one another, no matter what life or universe they happen to be in.
They are the proverbial soulmates and the gods just can’t seem to keep them apart for long. In some cases they find each other when they are young and sometimes, like in BSG, later in life.
Then there are the rare occasions where they meet briefly and then their time is cut short.
Those are the sad instances, where whoever was left behind realizes they weren’t given enough time.

Aquarius, Aquila, Pegasus, Red Dwarf
Aquarius- What’s a topic you enjoy learning about?
Answered once here, but another is things that scare me. I like going down internet rabbit holes about topics that I find a specific kind of frightening - things like cave diving, or natural disasters. Partly just because it's interesting, but it's also partly a thing about how I cope with anxiety.
Aquila- Do you prefer to read books or watch movies?
Both are good for different things! I definitely read far more books, generally - I don't watch a lot of movies, I'm much more a TV person, but there are plenty of movies that I love with all my heart.
Pegasus- What’s your favorite music genre?
I like a whole mishmash of different genres! I do love folk music though, and a lot of my very favourite artists tend to be folk musicians.
Red Dwarf- What’s your favorite smell? What smell makes you feel most comfortable?
I don't know that I have a favourite! I have quite a strong sense of smell, and I like a lot of different things, but the ones that immediately come to mind are: very cold nights, frying garlic, coffee, gingerbread, strawberries, and the inside of stone buildings. Coffee is also probably a contender for most comfortable.

✨- which fictional character (book, show, or movie) do you relate to most?
Ooh this seemed like an easy question until i had to really think about it! I see a lot of myself in Brenda Leigh Johnson (vintage clothes, affinity for pink, messy home, hates being told what to do lol), Elastigirl from The Incredibles (definitely the mom friend in a group setting lol) aaaaaand Margaery Tyrell (personality-wise i think but def not as politically-savvy) 💗💗💗
Thank you so much!! 😚

2 & 38 for the fic meme. :)
Thank you for asking :’)
2. Is there a trope you’ve yet to try your hand at, but really want to?
Just for the opportunity to say that I did it, I really want to try my hand at “and there was only one bed.” I gotta figure out just the right pairing and situation that I’d want to play with but I have read so many I think that would be such a fun challenge, leaving my own mark on that particular trope and trying to write something specifically mine. (ooh... it might have just hit me as I was proof reading this answer just now...)
38. Talk about a review that made your day.
God, every review I get makes my day. Yours, in particular, are always so thoughtful and appreciated.
One that is fresh in my mind is from Starkate from AO3, and they had read ten chapters in a row and left this very sweet comment that I read all the time. To know that my story delivers an emotional experience thrills me. “I've just caught up with this story and it's still as delightful as ever. Your writing just flows so beautifully and I keep clinging to every word. It's such an engaging read. The past 10 chapters have been such a rollercoaster of emotions, I think I've experienced feelings from joy to devastation, concern to frustration and everything in between. This has definitely taken a spot as one of my favourite Kerry stories and I'm already itching to read some of the past chapters again right now. Also, I can't wait for more! Thanks for the amazing story so far :D”
But I truly do have the best readers, every single comment is read multiple times for weeks (months) after I receive it.

First Lines Challenge
tagged by @kate04us (ty!!!!)
Rules: Share the first line of your last 10 published works and see if there are any patterns!
As The Crowd Was Chanting More: (BSG) ".....and it's 9 pm in Los Angeles, and we have a packed show for you tonight, but first, our host: Laura Roslin!"
It's Brutal Out Here: (SW) The door to the women's bathroom at the Death Star club is covered in faded band stickers top to bottom, the new ones stuck haphazardly over the old, peeling ones, advertising a wild continuum encompassing famous groups with their own security details and bands that had probably broken up before the adhesive had dried.
small talk (big love): (Gunpowder Milkshake) Their Cokes are hot and sticky, the van AC is blowing warm air, and they're still days and nights from the Pacific.
damn sure never (would have danced with the devil): (BSG) It started the way it always did: with a body.
only bought this dress (so you could take it off) (TC) "I didn't know what love felt like!" is perhaps not what Fritz Howard was hoping to have shouted at him in front of all his friends and family, and certainly not by his bride at the altar.
The Tortured Poets Department: an anthology: (SW) The Room of a Thousand Fountains used to be a personal refuge; now, it’s more like a minefield.
under the sun (don't look down): (BSG) There's sand in her eyes and salt on her lips and a fire in her heart to create something that will last forever.
Leave the Gun, Take the Ambrosia: (BSG) The first time Laura Roslin killed a man, she couldn't eat for days: even the scent of sizzling garlic and onions reminded her nauseatingly of the burned smell of the gunshot she'd put through her mark's left eye.
just between us (do you remember it all too well): (SW) The thing about the galaxy is, whether called by Republic or Empire or New Republic, it is essentially darkness, endless void, separated by brief, shining episodes of light, small spheres of dirt.
Dear Reader: (SVU) Listen. You never meant to fuck your best-selling writer in your corner office.
the pattern is that i'm a dramatic ho

You're definitely an expert on a great many characters but the ones that immediately leap to mind are Ada Cackle, Hecate Hardbroom, Lucille Anderson, and Valerie Dyer.
Tell me which character you think I’m an expert on.

:D
Kitchens of the Great Midwest
never heard of | never read | want to read | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite
This sounds fun!
Spindle’s End
never heard of | never read | want to read | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite
I’ve read a fair number of Robin McKinley’s books but not this one yet - it’s on my tbr but hasn’t risen to the top yet.
The Overstory
never heard of | never read | want to read | sounds interesting | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite
I thought I hadn’t heard of this one but I do recognize the cover. I’ve heard good things, but I haven’t been moved to give it a try.
Orion Lost
never heard of | never read | want to read | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite
This sounds like something I might really enjoy; going on the library list!
never heard of | never read | want to read | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite
This Tender Land
never heard of | never read | want to read | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite
Hmmm, so this is something I definitely wouldn’t pick up on my own but would consider from a recommendation from someone
A Natural History of Dragons
never heard of | never read | want to re-read | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite
This is one I’ve been meaning to reread. I read it several years ago and have almost no memory of it except remembering that it didn’t grab me as much as I expected it to. But I do wonder if some of that was the time that I read it.
The Eyre Affair
never heard of | never read | want to read | terrible | boring | okay | good | great | a favorite
Frustratingly, this book and series premise seems so specifically tailored to my interests and yet just doesn’t really work for me. The first time I tried reading it I got bored and a little annoyed partway through and set it aside. I tried it again several years later and finished it, and it was better than I remembered but still very firmly only in the realm of ‘okay’ for me.

Like just bless your tags. "get the boy some Oreos sharon" legit made me snortlaugh.
HA yes I’m so glad! The whole snippet made me grin, so right back atcha. ;) It reminded me so much of my mom and brother, to be honest! It’s SUCH a mom thing to buy ‘healthy’ (gross) cookies and roll their eyes when their kids can’t find them. And Rusty with the “what even IS flaxseed” cracked me right up. Just such a beautiful fun little excerpt that made me very happy to read last night. :) :) :)

8. Favourite television soundtrack? I’ll admit that I don’t tend to pay a lot of attention to music/soundtracks in shows, but it’s Battlestar Galactica by a mile. Bear McCreary is a genius.
27. Name a show that had the worst series finale, in your opinion? Game of Thrones is objectively probably the worst, but I had checked out of emotional investment way before then, so it didn’t bother me much. I didn’t watch the last few seasons of Major Crimes, and have never seen the finale, but it’s certainly a contender. In terms of pure rage and emotional reaction, probably the 24 finale? (The first one...) Or The X-Files reboot.
47. A preview/trailer of a movie you saw and thought “I HAVE to see that!”? Movie trailers don’t tend to hook me that often, tbh. I’m pretty basic. Show me pretty ladies and/or gay activity and I’m in. Most recently, Ammonite - queer ladies + dinosaurs is a great combination.
Send me numbers! (And thank you, @yetanotherramblingfangirl!)

Please tell me more about Susan/Jenny five things. :D
I had grand dreams for a bit of charting Susan and Jenny’s relationship by writing codas to each episode, but I only actually achieved a couple of those. This was to be the coda to season 1 episode 6, and I definitely intend to finish it at some point.
It’s bascially, four things that didn’t happen when Jenny went to visit Susan after her breakdown, and one that did. It’s structured as two possible ways the evening could have gone from Susan’s pov, two from Jenny’s, and then one about what actually happened.
“Is this all right?” Jenny stops to ask. Susan, made bold by the sheer weirdness of her life right now, takes Jenny’s hand and puts it between her legs. “Shut up,” she tells her, pulling her in for another kiss.
