#yet on reveals day the person writing for me defaulted and the mods were new so they had no pinch hitter

I'm a firm believer of "fic writers don't owe readers anything, and readers don't owe fic writers anything".
But. When you're writing for a fest or a fic exchange in response to a prompt, then I believe there is some owing involved. Writers owe a fic based on the prompt given and the recipients owe a bare minimum token of appreciation for the writers' efforts. Otherwise, what's the point of participating in such events? At their core, these events are meant to encourage creativity and positive interactions. And the participants must be aware of the same before signing up.
#this is not directed at the silm fandom#personal rant#i participated in an exchange event despite my reservations n met the deadline by some miracle#yet on reveals day the person writing for me defaulted and the mods were new so they had no pinch hitter#and the one i wrote for didn't even acknowledge my fic lmao#maybe they didn't like my work but a bare minimum thank you? is that too much to ask for?#I'm just upset. all that enthusiasm for nothing. it's disheartening.#am i wrong to be salty?
