you've created some original species yes? do perchance you have information as to their qualia and perception? e.g. their range of hearing, how many color channels they have (and the range of wavelengths considered visible, not to mention visual acuity in photopic/scotopic activities), other senses like e-field perception or perhaps whether their hearing is good enough to act as a second sight?
yeah!!! I still have to name this species though lol
both on Vessel and PetHunt, if you see any type of dragon looking creature with markings on their legs and gem looking protrusions, they're part of this species/genus :)
funnily enough as a byproduct of thinking about conlangs and how an alien species would communicate I ended up thinking a lot about their anatomy and physiology lol
they have extremely sensitive perception to light (hence why they have them big ol eyes), and have a slightly better perception of infrared, but almost no blues, since they come from a planet with little light where it's better to be sensible to temperature than to chroma
didn't go as far as making a chromaticity diagram for them sadly lol HOWEVER
their language is VERY heavy on clicks and voiceless consonants, with very little variation of vocals, only having four vocals roughly equivalent to e, i, o, u. their language actually has vocals impossible to pronounce for humans, but I'm pulling a Tolkien and just saying I'm romanizing their language when I write.
but even though they seem to have little vocalization below 20kHz, ancestrally they're used to communicate via ultrasonic chirps and tones in addition to clicks, so they have the capacity to vocalize up to roughly 60kHz with secondary larynx folds.
their hearing is usually captured by their "horns", where some subspecies also posess secondary mouth-like organs in addition to extra sensitive skin to detect the pressure difference in the air and process it into sound. do not touch the horns they're very sensitive
no magnetic field perception tho sorry 😔
ty for the ask! I got to dig up some old notes for Vessel ehehe
