#yes thats still sorta vague but that is the point! if you want a roadmap then you need to make it yourself

Yes to this! I would also add that a reason why there is no single The Answer is because there is no single The Problem. We are living in a cacophony of many problems that each have their own different possible solutions. So if you're looking for some way to be involved as one small answer, start by shrinking the problem down to its smaller parts. If that's not something that you can do right away, then your first step is research. Watch a documentary, read a book, listen to a podcast, go on a wikipedia deep dive, etc. The information you want is accessible to you, but you will have to do some work to find it. For example, I'm not fixing "climate change" or "food access", but I am fixing up my mom's yard so that she can grow food for herself and others in the community. And I listened to a podcast on to learn how to compost correctly, and return carbon to the soil instead of the atmosphere.
Another easy thing to do is to ask your friends, coworkers, whoever you hang out with regularly if they are involved in anything. If you're on social media, put out an ask like "does anyone know a way to get involved with a local environmental organization?" or "i have some free time on friday afternoon and i'd like to start volunteering somwhere, does anyone have any recommendations?"
I also suggest doing a skills inventory, so you can figure out what you can tangibly offer (on your own or with an organization), and identify what you want to improve. Here's one that I like:
Doing something doesn't mean you have to have the whole thing planned out. There is no roadmap for how you, specifically, should start doing something. You have to figure that out for yourself. But the good news? The "figuring it out" part is doing something. If you want to know what your "answer" is, you need to figure it out. Try and fail as much as you need to, just don't stop trying until you find something that sticks.
