“Are you aware of the most beautiful book?”
REVEREND/PRIEST/CULT LEADER! ROOK MAKES A COMEBACK!! May do more stuff with him- also made me really happy that a good chunk of y’all wanted to see more him (like a year ago-)
Definitely not my usual style but I felt like forcing myself to render since I was unsatisfied with my style previously, and this definitely helped- Even forcing me to look up actual references- Even though art is just a hobby now, I still want to improve for the sake of it-

Not one of the boys
Twisted wonderland cast realizes that (Yuu) is a girl.
Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4 Featuring: Idia and Ortho - Sebek and Silver
The dark figure in our dorm's yard was unmistakable, and like in his prior appearances, I jogged to him as soon as I noticed.
- VDC you say? Are you actually trying to invite me to this?- - Why yes...The boys have been working hard, I assure you, it's stunning! And well... As fun, as it is following your "Will-o'-the-wisp", I would like to be around you a bit more. - and hastily added - Only if you want to of course! -
Much as his Fae companion, Tsunotarou laughed at my expenses leaving me with my lingering smile and owlish confused eyes. - You really seem to know no fear. - he smiled broadly - Very well. I humbly accept your invitation.- and I smiled satisfied.
- Will you be going on stage? - - Ah no! I'm their "Manager", as Vil likes to call me. - - Mmm a shame...- I chuckled flustered - Crowley didn't want to risk other schools finding out I'm a girl. You never know what could ever happen. Ha ha ha - - Mm yes I can see the risks. Lilia told me he discovered it as well. -
Thinking back to each event I recalled the surprise on everyone, and feeling a little insecure I asked - ...Tsunotaro, you think...Am I perhaps...not feminine enough? - he threw me a weird look - I-I mean, nobody ever noticed till seeing my... More prominent features. And is not like I'm going out of my way to hide it! So you know...- and I scratched the back of my head.
He hummed and smiled beautifully - No, I think you're plenty. - his words without an inch of tease - I think the beauty of your femininity is enhanced by your boyish charm.- ... - Wai..what!? - - I'm looking forward to the day of the show Goodnight (Yuu).- *puff* and he left me standing in a blushing mess.
- Tsunotaro thinks I am beautiful...- I sighed dreamily - and he looked happy, I'm glad.-
Trope
A couple of days before the culture fair I made my way to Mr. S's Mystery Shop - Gooood morning Sam! How is it going? - - Hello (Yuu), very well thank you. Radiant as always are you? hahaha. - - Of course! My delivery has yet to arrive? - I scanned the shelves. - The pile is right there next to the Grimoire. - he pointed. - You almost caught them this time. -
- Uff... they're so... slippery. They've been so kind to sell all those manga for such a low price. I would really like to thank them face to face. - - They are elusive indeed. - commented Sam - Sorry, but he begged me multiple times not to say a word. - and winked. He wasn't sorry at all, he just enjoyed seeing my frustration. - Yeah yeah... I'm not here just for those; 'must refill our team. - and I handed him the grocery list.
---
- Another pile? - Commented Grim. - I know right?- completely missing his point. - And for like 500 Madol??? - - Shopping again Trickster? - I nodded happily to Rook - Have you seen them this time? - - Nah. Again, they ran away before my arrival. - I climbed the stairs to pose my new collection - And it's so frustrating! Sometimes they go for an hour via chat. Talking about what I should watch or read, his thoughts and theories. But then, they shut down completely saying stuff like: "Sry I'm such an otaku lmao bye.'" and then avoid me for days. -
- Would you like me to do a little research? - asked the hunter with a sharp smile. -...no...thank you for...the thought. I guess. - I patted his shoulder awkwardly. What I didn't know then was that he already discovered the identity of my seller long before. - But why give away all those books anyway? - pondered Grim. - Apparently bought a stock and he already owned some of them. "I must share the words of those artworks for the greater good". Something like that. -
---
On the day of the festival, me and Grim joined the booth check team. Entered the boardgames club exhibit we found a tall boy with long hair like flames sulking in a corner of the class. - Ahh, two hours left until the research presentation...- -... Idia, what are you doing at a place like that? - frowned Riddle. - It's called anxiety. - I mumbled.
- Uwah!!! Riddle master!!! Why are you here? - he jumped. - M-master? - - Fist of steal even outside the dorm eh? - I nudged the redhead on the side. He frowned at me and taking advantage of his distraction I saw the awkward boy nodding profusely. - Are you ready for the research presentation?- turned back the little tyrant. - Y-you don't have to worry. Just wait and see. - responded the other.
I stared for a moment in thought, making him even more fidgety than before - Are you perhaps... Ortho's brother? - - Sigh... *Eh-hem Y-yes. - he exhaled relieved. - 'Knew it I saw somewhere that blue hair! I have to say, after seeing him "draw a sword" defending your honor at the VDC auditions, I was very curious about meeting you. - - I-well-there's n-nothing i-i-interesting aab-b-bout m-me...I CAUGHT THE INTEREST OF A NORMIE IKEMEN????? - he mumbled hiding from my view.
- Riddle Roseharts, Trey Clover, Grim, hello! Of course, I'll always be there for Nii-san, he's a genius, (Yuu) (Wander)! - appeared the brother in question before I could protest the title of normie. - (YUU) (WANDER)??? - Idia jumped back but quickly covered his mouth and his back faced us all for a second time. He sneaked a look from his shoulder, caught my eyes, and the flames on his head turned pink. My companions looked me over questioningly, but seeing my expression just as confused, they searched for answers in his most trusted subject.
*Blank stare.* - W-well...*eh-hem Hi Ortho! I'm sure you speak the truth about your brother, I'm looking forward to hearing the...- - ...(Yuu) (Wander) - interrupted me once more in a softer tone. The four of us stared back and forth at the pair in search of answers.
- But it's great! - suddenly quipped Ortho. - Nii-san don't you understand? Is like in that Shojo where the girl in disguise in the boy academy becomes friends with her crush and...- - W-W-WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT ORTHO??? - The floating boy started to chant robotically. - (Yuu) (Wander) has sent at 09:45 a.m., Friday 2...- - I KNOW WHO HE IS BUT WHAT GIRL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT??? - - (Yuu) (Wander), student at Night Raven College, is a non-magical human being. Gender Female, height...-
- Stooop - I interrupted the chaotic theatric playing before our eyes. - 1, How was I unaware of sending messages to...you... - but the teenager was no longer with us, his soul probably left his body, and the now empty shell lay on the ground stiff...- ...and 2, when did you find out about me, Ortho? Being a girl that is. - I got closer to check on the dorm's leader's well-being. Tho, sensing my nearby presence he recovered immediately and ran out in a string of apologies. His hair turned a Barbie pink.
- I... Hope his presentation goes well. The magic, engineering that he specialized in has a lot of interesting articles about modern magic. So let's hope this...predicament hasn't caused too much brain damage. - pondered Riddle. - I'm a bit worried, but I'm sure he is going to recover. - and the little Sheoud turned back to us.
- So... What just happened exactly? - trailed off Grim. - You asked: 1, how were you unaware of sending messages to my brother? Nii-san has been chatting with (Yuu)San under the nickname of "Gloomy Samurai" in the second-hand shopping app: Twyst. - *GASP! I reacted dramatically - He was my generous dealer!!!! - - What was he dealing to you??? - Riddle panicked already picturing me falling into the drug club. - One launched Man, flexible cover edition from 01 to volume 23, Junior High attack, redesigned edition, flexible cover, complete... - - Mangas Riddle, Mangas. - I reassured.
- And for number 2: I scanned and stored your physical information when we met the first time. - he confessed nonchalantly. - That's... Fascinating intimidating. - I commented, eyes wide open. - And what was that Shojo girl in a boy academy... - teased Trey. - Please Ortho, don't answer that.- I flashed the green-haired boy a sharp gaze.
I had the impression Gloomy Samurai would've shut me down completely from this day on, and if before there was little possibility of him wanting to meet up in RL, now... stupid to even take it into consideration. - Say Ortho, what's your brother's favorite food? - If I couldn't thank him with me present physically or digitally, a gift would've sufficed.
Title
- TSUNOTARO????? - Sebek was in a tantrum.
- You too? - I murmured in disbelief once they finished their back and forth - Tsunotaro, can I confirm a suspicion of mine? - he smiled and nodded curious about what was going on in that small brain of mine. - This is just a stretch... But is it perhaps that you are searching gazes different from "Mighty prince" or "Terrifying magic user"? I mean why come to a public school otherwise right? -
His faithful knight threw again insults, but the subject himself stayed quiet. Silence needed to be fulfilled for my brain to function so I rumbled even more, in search of an understandable response from the boy - You know,...People can be so focused on What we are, instead of the Who. I mean I thought of it because I saw in us some similarities...Of course, is totally on a different level and type,...but, you know,... I can see a behavior change when my friends discover I'm a girl. And it's...- - WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT??? - Sebek screamed and became a blushing mess.
Silver widened his eyes in realization. - The infirmary, it wasn't a dream...- and pink gradually made its way on his face. I flew a hand on my mouth. - I got lost in my thoughts. - Malleus petted my hair chuckling while Grim clapped his paws with a flat face - It could've gone worse - I enquired to the cat - It could've rained...- I joked nervously.
- NOW EVERYTHING IS CLEAR! You have been luring our master! - screamed Sebek - That's why he has permitted you so much! For sure, under that innocent cute look, you're hiding some secret spell, seducing him you little witch. And grumble, grumble, grumble... - - I would take this as offense honestly - I murmured to the prince. - I would take that as a compliment, cute innocent witch, fufufufu.- he teased.
After recovering from my blush, he was still on fire with his ranting. So I decided to suffocate it with my trashing around - Doll, I'm not stealing your man dah. - - Wha...- As I predicted, his voice died stunned. - Not this again...- groaned Grim recalling the joke Catfights between me and my ginger friend.
- This relationship is completely consensual. - I gestured, and perplexed but very amused Malleus nodded - See? And now, look at ya. - I returned to Sebek - Chasing after him, seeking attention - and with a click of my tongue I concluded - so desperate. - - You... Never stop to surprise me child of man. -

They say that I'm a witch And that I weave a spell Well, I'll be a son of a I don't know what Well, let me tell you brother I'd rather be burned as a witch than never be burned at all (I'd rather be burned as a witch - Eartha Kitt)
*Eh-hem so... What happened? - inquired Crowley. Both me and Ruggie despite the clear frustration of the headmaster, sat nonchalantly, being confident in our innocence.
~
I roamed my eyes on one of the topper shelves in the library holding on a ladder to reach them better. - What are you doing up there (Yuu)? - I heard a whisper from the ground. - Oh! Hi Ruggie! Just searching for my way home. What about you? - Maybe I could find some documents about magical transportation or alternative universes. - Ehmm okay(!?) Me? Same usual, Leona's chores. I'm taking some books for him or he'll just forget to do his research. - - Lazy ass... - I snorted reaching for another book. - Leona. That's who he is. *Shshshsh.-
His eyes then darted down. On the topic of asses. - *Eh-hem... Can you lend me a hand? I think I saw one of the books I need up there. - - Oh sure! Which one?- I responded. - There on the third, no no the fourth down,... Yep, A little more on the right...- - This one? - I glanced back. - No no the other one on the left. *Shshshhshs -
Yep, TOTALLY looking at the books.
* SBAM I jumped down. - AARGH DON'T HIT ME! - and neither of us expected the disaster after that.
~
- That's what you get looking at my boogie! - - YOU WERE TRYING TO THROW THAT BOOK AT ME! I can't believe you chicks! Thinking you have permission to use violence on men, am I right? - - NO I WASN'T! I just jumped down, You scared off yourself and hit the shelf on your own!... And don't deflect!!! You were the one scheming to... -
- SILENCE!!! - Crowley's strong voice covered both of ours. - Ruggie. - he called out sternly. The ears of the hyena were now flat waiting for the worse. - By "chicks" you mean,...girls? - he then trailed his eyes on me with that scary glowing gaze of his. Ruggie thought about it for a while and then smirked. - Yes. I meant girls. - he probably thought the Crow would get too distracted, so he could make a run out of his disaster. - That's quite an interesting predicament (Yuu)... Didn't I warn you to take secrecy? How is that this dear student know?-
- You... Didn't know, headmaster? - I blinked confused. - Know what? - I caught him unprepared. - *ps... What are you doing???- whispered-yelled Ruggie. Sure, he wanted for me to be scolded for HIM knowing, but he didn't expect... - I thought either Azul told you or you had noticed already. - I responded. - Aw. That's nice! It means they really did maintain the secret. - I reached the ahs blonde boy and patted his cheek. - I have such good friends! - - H-hey!It's because there was no advantage in telling anybody.- Embarrassed, he drove my hand away.
- (Yuu).- - Yes? - - EXPLAIN. NOW -
Finished this series!!!! Ruggie was with Silver the less brought up in the "discovery timeline", so I thought it might've been nice to include them a little more with two mini stories (Silver's is in part 3).
Malleus, on the other hand no, he didn't need more timing. But my simping for him did.
I hope you had a fun time with lil old me! Wish you the best, 'till next time! ✨💙

Freya :3
@the-trinket-witch — tagging you here bcuz you also asked for Freya’s TV Tropes
TV Tropes: Freya Grimoire
The Ace: She excels in a majority in her classes, even rivaling Azul and Riddle's statuses as the sophmores' top students.
Animal Eye Spy: Freya can use her familiars, mainly her butterflies, as her extra set of eyes.
Animal Motifs: Butterflies.
Badass in Distress: Her and the other overblot victims are captured by STYX in Book 6.
Butterfly of Death and Rebirth: A large part of Freya's character, not just because of her association with butterflies, but also because of her abilities. She has the power to destroy someone and bringing able to bring others back to life, literally and figuratively.
The Chessmaster: She really starts moving her pieces during Books 2-4 once she was able to figure things out. Plus, she likes to play chess with Malleus and Leona.
Cool Big Sis: Towards Mia and the Berry Sweets.
Dark Action Girl: Freya is not afraid to get her hands dirty. Such moments include slapping Riddle before his overblot, punching Jamil post-overblot, and dragging Crowley by his mask.
The Fair Folk: Is half-fae, more specifically half-sylph thanks to her mother being a sylph.
Foil:
To Minako: They are both daughters of the most powerful demons in Twisted Wonderland, hybrids thanks to their non-demon parent, and take after their respective mothers. Minako takes action first while Freya tends to think things through before doing anything. What they teach their kids of Ramshackle is also vastly different.
To the Overblot Victims: Freya and the overblot boys have several things in common, whether as a group or individually. However, how they handled everything speaks volumes. For some cases, like how both her and Azul were bullied when they were younger, both took different approaches: Freya standing up to herself and eventually loving herself until the bullying mostly stops while (canon) Azul didn't have the strength to do so and wishes to erase that part of his life.
Idiot Hair: Freya has a small cowlick that sticks up from her head. Often times, her cowlick often changes shape depending on her emotion/mood.
In-Series Nickname:
Floyd calls her "Koifishie".
Rook calls her "Reine du Sorcière"
The Ramshackle kids and the Berry Sweets call her Freya-nee.
Malleus and Lilia calls her "(Little) Beastie"
Vil calls her "Sweet Potato" & "Liebling".
Leona calls her "Omnivore" & "Mouse".
Cheka calls her Auntie.

Magnificent Bastard: She uses her knowledge of the Disney villains and of the people surrounding her to manipulate things in her favor.
Self-Made Woman: She establishes her own bakery business to both make money for Ramshackle & be economically independent of Crowley.
Smarter Than They Look: Will act clueless and naive to make people believe that she is a Brainless Beauty, mainly because she's finds it very funny to hear it
Strong Family Resemblance: Freya got her looks from her mother, but her personality is a combination of both her parents.
Supreme Chef: Freya is one of the best cooks among the student body, even being able to cook monsters so easily.
Villain Protagonist: Yes, she has done multiple selfless deeds during her time at Night Raven, like helping out with overblots, but she often does so if they benefit her in the long run.

Episode 6 spoilers below!
Where do I even fucking begin?😭
I’m a sobbing mess right now. The last part came out May 20th, so it’s been two months already. Two freaking months trying desperately to move past chapters 66 and 67. Yes, I am pathetic and absolutely suck as a gamer. I never imagined twst devs were gonna challenge me like this. This is what I get for never taking a video game seriously, but I told myself “This is the hill I will die on. This is my grave to dig.” For two fucking months, I’ve done nothing but non-stop grinding, non-stop farming, spending all of my madol, tokens, notepads, notebooks, grimoires, honeys, and so on to level up so many cards.
As I mentioned before, I made a small change in line-up when I got to chapter 67 by adding Idia. The Riddle/Azul team did not require much attention when I did this. But, what was the Pomefiore team and Leona/Jamil… It was absolutely taxing.
If this serves as help to anyone, make sure you have SSRs that can duo magic. Get those magic levels to lv5 at least. Have someone in your party that can heal. Obviously, have some decent cards that work well against the titans. Like, I never imagined my SR Vil card to pack so much attack with his water magic. I’m honestly really surprised. Oh, make sure all your cards are groovied too. And, of course, study the way the titans attack and do your best to counter every one of their moves. I did miss once or twice, but I at least tried to be 100% accurate with the predictions. Otherwise, I’d restart the battle and try again.
That said, I didn’t struggle at all taking on OB!Idia (and Ortho). Idia’s overblot design had already been spoiled for me, but to finally see it for myself including Ortho was still a surprise. I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but with my trusty SSR Dorm Riddle card, all I needed was a friend’s SSR Dorm Azul to duo magic with. With Azul’s healing, and the double duo magic between the two, countering Idia’s fire and flora attacks was super easy! And, again, I brought Vil’s ceremonial robes card to add that much needed back-up☺️ Lab Jade and GM Idia were there as little reinforcements. Really, I breezed through all three overblot battles.✨
And now, for a fucking round of applause. VIL SCHOENHEIT, GUYS!!!👏👏👏
All this Vil slander as of late…ABSOLUTELY NOT! DO NOT SLEEP ON THE POMEFIORE TRIO!!!!!
ROOK, EPEL, AND VIL STOLE THE FUCKING SHOW!! THEY ABSOLUTELY SAVED THE WORLD! VIL EVEN SACRIFICED HIMSELF!!!
Honestly, they were just introducing themselves in Book 5. Book 6 is where they truly shine!💖 And, I know I said it before jokingly, but seriously… They took in Yuu, and without hesitation made them one of their own. How they went out of their way to make sure Yuu was okay and safe, risking their very lives to protect them at any given moment, and just looking after their well being. Yes, the Pometrio absolutely became Yuu’s newfound family. I already had a feeling Vil was gonna let Yuu and Grim stay in Pomefiore while the renovations at Ramshackle were underway. I wish we’d gotten to see a bit of that, tbh. I’m just loving this new budding friendship/family.
To me, more than any other previous dorm, I feel like Pomefiore really stepped up to the plate and showed exactly why they are not just the oldest dorm in NRC, but why they are damn good at what they do. Vil’s leadership as housewarden went above and beyond, and he absolutely deserves to be at the top. Epel finally gaining his unique magic and developing in his own means while still leaving room for growth has me feeling so proud. And Rook, my sweet, precious Rook❤️ His support, his faith, and guidance, I’m thankful to him. To all of them.
Of course, Riddle, Leona, Azul, and Jamil are right there next to them. They may have all been “problematic children” as Idia calls them, but they definitely pulled their own weight. Even if they mostly spent it squabbling amongst each other. I’m relieved and happy they worked through their differences, and were able to pull through. Absolutely loved Azul’s back story, and Leona giving Jamil some much needed advice.
Now, for Idia and Ortho… Oh my god… First of all, I loved the world building and the Shroud lore. All the Hercules references were an absolute treat! However, Idia and Ortho…oof! I fucking cried. Ugly cried. Their story… The heartache, the sadness, clawed and broke my heart into pieces. I did not imagine such tragedy. Even the truth behind Ortho… I’m still blown away. Ortho is an absolute gem. He’s another character like Vil who slowly grew on me. And when I buy for Idia, I decided I couldn’t have him without Ortho. I love Ortho a lot more now. If only he’d come home to me already😭 And Idia…I don’t think a hug is enough to give. His grief impaled me deep in my soul. They were so innocent, merely wanting to see the outside world… Like Vil said, they have their dreams just like anyone else. But, of course, destroying the world is not an option😆 My love for the Shroud brothers deepened a lot more, though. They are so cute and precious. Protect them at all costs!🥲
That said, wow…. A group of teenagers put themselves in danger to stop the world from getting destroyed. If we’re gonna slander anyone, Crowley absolutely deserves it. Of course, there would be nothing incriminating him. Of course, he’d accept hush money from Idia’s parents and STYX HQ. I guess the only good thing to come out of this is Ortho’s new status and Idia now more willing to be friends even if he still needs a bit of encouragement and pushing.
I’m really looking forward to Book 7 now. However long it takes me, I know I can do it. And, I’ve got my eyes on Malleus. Oh, he was so sweet checking up on Yuu and making sure they weren’t hurt. But, I have a feeling this was a sign. Especially with Malleus seriously contemplating the fragility of humans now. Please, let me be right. I wouldn’t mind if Malleus kidnapped Yuu😭 Because I totally wanna be rescued by Idia😂💙
Let me recover my resources now😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Christmas in The Devildom | Home Alone Edition
desc :: Mari tells a tale of what happened during her Christmas during her exchange student program.
word count :: 2247
note/s :: I got this idea about Mari having to defend herself from demons while she’s alone on Christmas. But then I realised... “Hey! This is literally just the premise of Home Alone!” so I decided to write it.
relationship/s :: implied fluffwings | jack x mari / implied greedwings | mammon x mari
art credit :: KEMM01 on Deviantart
edit credit :: me
Holiday season was a lovely time of cheer and giving for most people. Mari gave a sigh of relief, finally done giving her last gift of the day. Yes, seeing the generally happy reactions of the people she cared for brought joy to her weary heart, even if those people didn’t necessarily care for her back. Now it was just time to relax during the NRC Christmas party.
Everyone from every dorm had gathered to the cafeteria to partake in the festivities. Every nook and cranny had been decorated to perfection. But maybe that was pushing things a bit since Mari was the one that had to decorate everything after Crowley pushed the work onto her for the hundredth time she’s lived in Twisted Wonderland at the last minute when he just decided that a Christmas party might help bring students together more. At least she can rest while the first years talked about how they spent their Christmas at home.
“Mari.” The girl looked up to see Epel looking at her with a curious gaze. “What was Christmas like for you when you were in your world?”
“Yeah, we’ve been the ones talking here but you haven’t shared anything the whole time,” Ace spoke up as he bit into some cookies.
“Ah, sorry—”
“Didn’t you live in Hell for a year? What’s Christmas there like?” Deuce asked, placing a finger to his chin in thought.
Mari was silent for a moment, trying to get her thoughts and memories in order.
“Um… it’s kind of a long story. Are you guys alright with that?” She glanced at each of their faces for confirmation.
“You’re an excellent storyteller, Mari. It’d be wonderful to hear it,” Sebek chimed in, placing his food on the table and sitting with them.
She nodded, relieved that they seemed to be alright to tell them.
“So… I was mostly left alone during the holidays—”
“Eh? Left alone?” Ace raised an eyebrow.
“Yeah… We were going to celebrate but the demon brothers and the folks at Purgatory Hall were called to a meeting and had to take care of some business in a farther area in the Devildom. I wasn’t able to come because that place had particularly deadly air for humans…”
“Why do I have to go?! There’s gonna be a whole bunch of Christmas special limited edition figurines for Rurichan and all my favorite idols!” Levi had complained as he stuffed his fifth Rurichan figurine into his luggage.
“I was planning on eating a Christmas feast…” Beel had also whined, rubbing his stomach. In his hands were three gigantic bags filled with snacks and snacks only.
“Is it really okay to leave Mari here?” Asmo asked, who was mostly just clinging onto her body; She’s had to swat his grabby hands from touching her more intimate parts a couple times but cuddles with him were generally still quite lovely. Among them, he had the most packed luggages that was all dedicated to his beauty and fashion.
“Yeah, lesser demons might take this opportunity to sneak into this place and eat Mari.” Satan at least had a reasonable amount of bags. Though, he held one novel in his arm.
She sighed, running her hand through her sift chocolate locks. “Guys, no offense but you were the ones to put me in the most danger here during my exchange program here.”
They all seemed sheepish now. “Uhh—“
“Enough whining. We’re going to be late already,” Lucifer spoke up. “Mari should be fine. No one would be stupid enough to harm her if they knew the consequence will be being charged with treason and being tortured for eternity.”
Mari gave a thumbs up. “Yeah. There’s nothing to worry about.” Her eyes widened, noticing something rather odd.
She looked around. “Where’s Mammon?” She asked.
“He said he had something to do,” Satan answered.
Lucifer turned around and started walking. “We’ll leave him behind. He can catch up,” he spoke. His shoes made light clicking noises against the floor as he left the premises, the rest of the brothers followed him.
“Hey! Wait up!” Mammon yelled as he darted out of his room, carrying a bunch of stuff with him.
“Hey! Are you guys telling stories?” Kalim’s bright voice interrupted her speech. A large grin was plastered on his face.
“Kalim, don’t just barge into conversations like that,” Jamil scolded him. He carried two trays filled with food, one for him and one for Kalim.
“It’s fine! I was getting to the interesting part.”
“Très bien! How wonderful to see you all spending quality time during this festive party! It touches my heart,” Rook’s voice appeared from behind them, causing some of the first years to jump in surprise.
“Your bodyguards left you alone during Christmas? That seems rather irresponsible of them if they knew there was still a chance of you being attacked by demons,” Vil spoke as the two also sat down at the table next to theirs.
She nodded, looking down and biting her lip. “Well… The house did end up being attacked.”
“EH?!” Their eyes were as wide as the plates they were eating from.
“How did you manage to survive?”
“During the last day of school, a bunch of lesser demons had whispered about taking the opportunity to come by and eat my soul after classes. Little did they know, I had overheard their conversation and that gave me some time to prepare…”
Mari rushed around the House of Lamentation, rope and other sorts of equipment that she hastily purchased from Akuzon in her arm. Knowing that this house had a variety of magical items that even she could use despite having a lack of it.
Satan’s room had all sorts of cursed books and Levi’s room had magical merch. If worse comes to worst, she’ll use the grimoire underground. It’s more of a last resort since she knew what happened when Luke was lost and ended up there. Lucifer would’ve killed her if it weren’t for Diavolo.
She stopped in her tracks when she looked into Mammon’s stuff in case he had anything that could be used. Her eyes widened to see a murder of crows in his room.
… What?
One of the crows flew up and landed on her shoulder. “Hey there! You’re Mari, right? We’re Mammon’s familiars! He told us a lot about you. He had us stay here to watch over you.”
“That idiot is so reckless that she’d probably get herself into trouble without me so make sure nothing bad happens to her!” … were his exact words.” A different crow spoke up, imitating his voice and tone with such perfect accuracy that it startled the girl.
A grim pulled at her lips. “Great! A bunch of demons are coming here soon and I’ll be needing your help to defend the place.” She explained her plan to them.
“Wow! You already got this thing planned out,” the first crow commented. “Just give us the order and we’ll do our best!”
Mari nodded, smiling in gratitude for them. She turned around and rushed out the room to start setting everything up.
Using her knowledge of the items in the House of Lamentation, she set up a bunch of traps around the place and sat in the living room, waiting for them to trigger. Near each trap was at least one crow to lure the demons into the traps. In one hand was a controller for one of Levi’s consoles. The other held a specific book that was just titled “Void”.
“Really hope this works…” The girl muttered, her grip around the items tightened.
A cacophony of screams echoed throughout the place and several crows flew to her from different directions, signalling that the traps were successful.
She gave a sigh of relief, happy that they worked. There had been this worry that gnawed at her heart when she thought of the possibility of her ropework being too weak. Fortunately, that seemed to not be the case.
Mari checked the bands she put on their feet. Each crow had a different color so that she would know which traps got triggered.
Red, white, yellow, and green… Ah!
Red was in charge of luring the demon into a tripwire trap where if they triggered it, it’d pull the pin from a makeshift grenade she made out of Ruri-chan’s Extra Devilish Spicy Powder that she got from Levi’s room. Levi described it to be so spicy that it can cause a demon to pass out as soon as it comes into contact with their nose and eyes.
White was in charge of watching the catapult. If the door with the trap gets opened, the demon would get Asmo’s “special rope” launched at them. It would completely immobilise anyone if it makes contact with someone’s skin.
Yellow was the one watching over the gun trap. If the window was opened, it’d pull the trigger on the replica gun she got from Levi’s room. It had been from “I Got Isekai’d To A Fantasy Historical Drama But I Didn’t Expect To Find Out That 7 Generals Would Fall For Me”. The bullets weren’t lethal or anything, but they were the magical sort that could knock out a demon with one bullet.
Last but not least was green, who watched over the back door. She roped up a bunch of cursed books from Satan’s room, careful not to touch them with her bare hands, and hung them over the door. If triggered, it would drop all the books and curse the demon into 5 months of deep slumber. 5 months felt a bit excessive, but it was probably better than being charged of treason and being tortured for eternity.
However, it seemed that the other two crows didn’t return just yet.
Then, rushed footsteps started approaching the living room. She looked up to see the last crows flying and two demons running towards her. The looks on their faces oozed with murderous intent as they neared her.
… Shit, looks like the last two traps either didn’t get triggered or they found a way around them.
But all she did was bite her lip and opened the book with the pages facing them.
The room started shaking as a dark aura covered the book. The demons screamed when they started getting pulled into the pages of the book, scrambling to keep their ground. However this was in vain, as they ended up getting sucked into the book anyway.
And with that, Mari gave a loud sigh of relief, dropping her body onto the couch. She pressed a button on the controller.
Nothing around her really happened upon pressing it. But the other demons that were immobilised were put into Levi’s game. She had to know their identities first, which was surprisingly easy to find on Devilgram. She should be able to let them out later. Hopefully they don’t die in the game. She had set it to easy mode, after all.
“Yay! We did it!” The crows cheered, gathering close to each other and even doing a little dance in the process.
“... And that was the end of that story. After that night, the demon brothers came back and we spent a lovely Christmas together, the Devildom way.” Mari’s story came to a close. She looked at all the students that were immersed in her story.
“You were able to defend yourself against a whole group of demons in a single night?!” Ace’s eyes were wide open. His expression was mirrored by the others.
“Très bien! You’ve displayed such wonderful resourcefulness against opponents who are much stronger than you!” Rook praised her in his own fashion, gazing at her with his amused hunter green irises.
Jamil nodded, placing his hand to his chin in thought. A small smile could be seen on his face if one were to look close enough. “Using what you had around the house to use as traps… How clever,” he mumbled.
“You’d be a great fit for Scarabia!” Kalim grinned.
“You were able to set all those traps in such a short amount of time. With that sort of workspeed, Pomefiore could make use of your efforts,” Vil retorted, crossing his arms.
A new voice spoke up, “Oh, but her cunning wit should be further honed in Octavinelle. I’m sure I’d make better use of her skill.”
Jamil’s expression turned sour at the sight of the dorm leader of Octavinelle.
“Nonsense! She belongs in Diasomnia with the young master!” Sebek’s voice boomed across the cafeteria.
“Oi! Quiet down, you noisy brat,” Leona spoke up from another table beside them. He glared at the first year.
And that was the start of a rather chaotic argument between all the dorms.
Jack and Mari looked at each other with exasperated expressions.
“You wanna get out of here?” She offered.
All he did was scratch the back of his head and nod. “Yeah, it’d be better if we just went somewhere else.”
The two of them got up and sneaked away from the group that was too absorbed in their fight.
Although, Mari couldn’t help the smile creeping on her face as she processed the fact that they had complimented her. At the time, she didn’t think it was all too special. But it felt really nice to receive such validation.
Perhaps they saw her better now. Someone who isn’t weak all because she had no magic.
The thought soothed her.

A Special Type of Magic ♡ Epel Felmier x Fem!Reader
title. a special type of magic characters. reader (♀), epel, vil word count. 1873 genre. self-indulgent fluff, slight crack (?) plot bunny. epel forgot to study for tomorrow’s exam, and desperately needs his girlfriend’s help in perfecting one of the spells he’ll be tested on.
(Y/n) loved nights like these.
She was lounging on her stomach atop her boyfriend's bed, flipping through one of the best books she'd ever read, while Epel himself was seated at his desk, frantically studying for a test he had tomorrow morning.
...Right, so maybe (Y/n) was the only one actually enjoying the night, but she liked how comfortable the silence felt between them, and the fact that Epel urged her to stay with him every time she thought that her presence might have been worsening his stress.
"You're not a bother, (Y/n)," he had reassured her. "Thank you for staying with me, even though it's probably boring... I'm just trying to memorize this one last spell. Then I'll be done."
Epel had probably consumed at least seven full bottles of magic energy drink when he told her that, and he had three more afterwards. ...Which was a bit much. It was the sound of him placing down his tenth empty bottle that (Y/n) started to think something might be off—this was an awful lot of time to be spent studying a single spell.
She looked up at him from her book. "...Are you still on that last spell?"
"Yes," Epel replied. "Sorry. I thought I'd be done sooner."
"...Have you tried actually casting it yet?"
(Y/n) hadn't sensed any active magic energy come from his desk at all—he seemed to only be studying from his grimoire. "How do you expect to learn it without trying it?"
"It seemed easy enough... I just can't feel it in me like I can the other spells," Epel sighed. "Hey, um, would you mind it...if I tested it on you?"
(Y/n) paused. "...That depends on what kind of spell it is."
Epel looked taken aback. "I'd never do anything dangerous to you," he insisted. Then he turned back to his grimoire, and sifted through its pages. "It's just one we learned in the beginning of the year...when we had that unit on color manipulation, remember? This spell's on changing the color of organic matter."
"Oh, like this?" (Y/n) flicked a finger in Epel's direction. Within seconds, the hair on his head turned bright red.
"Ah...! (Y/n)!" His shoulders immediately tensed. Pushing away from his desk, he spun around to look at her with a shocked look in his eyes. "Yes, that's the spell—but please change it back!"
(Y/n) hadn't even heard him, though; she was too busy snorting at the sight of his panic-stricken face. Everyone knew the students of Pomefiore were much vainer than the other dorms, but for some reason seeing Epel freak out over a sudden new hair color felt way out of character for him. She couldn't help herself.
"(Y/n)," Epel pleaded. But his flaming hot hair and equally red cheeks did nothing to help stifle (Y/n)'s laughter—only worsened it, and she couldn't even look at him anymore else she would die all over again. "Please. This isn't funny..."
"I-I'm sorry," she mustered out between snickers. "Look in the mirror—you look like a tomato!"
It didn't help that Epel's hair had a round, bouncy volume to it, and now that it was bright red he really did look like some kind of fruit. He peered into his bedroom mirror, before visibly flinching, and then whipped around to face his girlfriend again.
He was no longer looking miserable though. Now his brows were furrowed, and with an annoyed glare he flicked his own finger in her direction.
That shut (Y/n) up immediately. Because at once, her hair melted into murky shades of orange and green, growing out long and...for some reason sticky? And she was helpless to do anything but leap from the bed, face scrunched up in disgust.
"Epel!" she shrieked. "Why is it sticky?! Turn it back! Gross!"
Except, Epel was only surprised that he had actually been able to get his spell to work. Or...sort of. Why was it sticky? He reached a hand up to ruffle his own hair, and then froze.
"I—AH! Mine is too!"
Both of them lifted their fingers again to try reversing the spell, but they quickly realized that neither were able to fix each other’s situation.
They hadn't meant to mess with the texture. And now that they couldn't reverse this, the duo had erupted into fullblown panic. A few seconds of anxious hopping around led to (Y/n) dashing out the door in search of Pomefiore's dorm leader, knowing Vil would undoubtedly be able to reverse this. Epel quickly followed suit.
But they had forgotten just how late it was. It was well into the early hours of the morning, and two frantic first-years banging on his bedroom door at two o'clock was not a very pleasant thing for Vil to wake up to. When he answered the door, he was garbed in a silk robe, golden locks perfectly disheveled. His eyes were a bit puffy, but that didn't detract from his beauty; he only looked very tired and very, very irritated.
"...What?"
"Our hair!" (Y/n) cried, not at all acknowleding the tired glower on their dorm leader’s face. She pulled at her hair with clear despair in her eyes, showing him as much of it as she could.
Vil dazedly looked between the two...before the situation registered in him. Then he snapped awake.
"...Epel? (Y/n)? Oh my god! You two look hideous!" He grabbed both of their arms, practically flinging them inside his room. "Get inside before anyone sees you!"
Vil promptly sat (Y/n) down first, and his fingers got started threading through her hair. Although, Epel was not at all pleased to be cast aside.
"...I think we're overlooking the fact that I was the first victim here," he murmured.
"Nothing to worry about," Vil said confidently. "I can fix both of you. But, tell me how this happened. A hair dye kit? A spell gone wrong? Kalim?"
"...We both cast spells on each other," Epel informed him. "I was studying one for my test, and we were just trying to change the color..."
"And you picked these colors?"
"I did Epel's hair as a joke," (Y/n) insisted. "But he was like, full of malicious intent when he cursed me. He couldn't even do the spell before he tried it on me."
"...She's right," Epel sighed. "But anyway, I didn't curse you."
"It feels like you cursed me."
Vil pulled his fingers away from (Y/n)'s hair. "Well, since this was done by magic, it must also be undone by magic. The good news is, it's an easy fix. The bad news, I can't be the one to undo it."
(Y/n) looked up at him, waiting for him to elaborate. "...How do we do it then?"
"You need a special type of magic known as « true love's kiss » ♡"
Epel felt uncomfortable shivers crawl up his spine. He turned to his girlfriend, whose lips had fallen slightly agape, unsure how to respond. "(Y/n), we should've known. This guy is nuts. Let's go find the vice..."
"Ah, wait a moment!" Vil started before they could leave. "It's not that I'm nuts. Everyone uses true love's kiss for all sorts of things. It's a very valid and efficient healing method. As long as you truly wish for it, it will heal anything that ails your partner. Now, a common misconception is that it must be on the lips, which is not true at all—I know you two are dating, so it wouldn't matter anyway, but you'll get better results if you kiss the affected area. In this case, your hair. Like this."
With zero hesitation, Vil took Epel's cheeks in his hands, and planted a swift and short kiss atop his head. Then he turned around to face (Y/n), unfazed, while Epel was locked in a state of shock by that brief interaction.
"See?" Vil asked. "Now you try—the texture will be a bit odd, but it'll make that and that hideous color disappear in the wink of an eye ✨"
"...Okay..."
(Y/n) gingerly approached her boyfriend, all of a sudden feeling very embarrassed. She'd have much rather preferred to do something like this in private...but before she even had a chance to get close to him, she noticed Epel's bright red locks had already begun to fade to their usual lavender again.
"..." She wasn't sure how to react. Neither was Epel.
"Oh!" Vil coughed. "Oh, my—looks like that worked for some reason. Well! Less work for you. Epel's turn~"
Epel was already embarrassed from being kissed on the head by their dorm leader—even more embarrassed by the fact that it worked—but he snapped out of his shock to help his girlfriend. Her eyes were staring adamantly at the floor, too nervous to look up at him, and Epel’s own eyes were squeezed shut too.
Vil experienced such severe secondhand embarrassment from how awkward they looked, that he had to intervene.
"Epel," he sighed. "It's not difficult. Just lean down, and peck!"
Epel tore his gaze over to Vil, and it was clear he was fretting over this a lot more than Vil thought. "But—"
(Y/n) interrupted him with a light, stifled giggle, and Epel grew even more embarrassed.
"Why are you laughing, (Y/n)...?"
"S-sorry, I'm just nervous..."
Vil threw his arms in the air. "Oh, you two are such first-years. I'll leave you alone for five minutes, and when I come back, this disaster better be fixed. Understood?" He flipped his hair on his way out of the room, leaving (Y/n) alone with her boyfriend.
"...That feels a bit better," she laughed.
"Sorry, I'm just... okay, um, here I go." Epel gently cupped (Y/n)'s cheeks in his hands, and closed his eyes, before planting a gentle kiss atop her head. Almost immediately, those long, dark orange-green strands returned to their usual shade of (h/c), and their usual length, and (Y/n) let out a heavy sigh of relief.
"...Is the texture back?" she asked. Epel brushed his fingers across the top of her head, feeling a few strands.
"Yes," he said. "...Sorry. I didn't know I could actually do it, much less mess it up so much..."
"Technically I started this," (Y/n) said. She gave him a soft smile. "But now you'll be able to pass your test tomorrow, right?"
"...!" Epel's lashes swept upward, just slightly. "Oh no, I forgot about that.. I still have to learn the right way to do it." He dropped his hand from his girlfriend's head, and made his way over to the door. "Okay, goodnight (Y/n), I'll see you tomorrow. I still have a little more studying to do. Oh, and thank you for buying me all those energy drinks—I'll tell Mr. S to charge me for them instead later.."
"Ah—okay! Bye!"
And Epel was gone.
Vil had been waiting outside, so that he could grab them and double-check their hair for them, but Epel had scurried past him before he could. He was able to snag (Y/n), though, and while he was prodding through her hair, he noticed she couldn't stop smiling.
"...What're you thinking about~?"
"N-nothing," (Y/n) hiccuped, trying to hide her smile. But she couldn't help it. Never had a kiss with Epel healed a problem of hers, and never had one felt so sweet. A kiss like that was so much more magical—in the literal sense too.
Even if Epel wasn't able to perfect his color spell, she hoped he knew he had a much stronger one to be proud of.
