RISE FROM THE ASHES 2/? (Alexia AU)
(Sorry, there won't be any drawing in this one)
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
February 22 – Detention Center, Visiting Room
Both girls are in one of the visitors' salads, waiting for the person they come to see to appear. But since they arrived here, one of the two had a behavior that didn't match how she had shown herself before. Alexia looks askance at Ema…
“(Hmm, I wonder what happened to Ema. She suddenly went quiet as soon as we arrived.)” Alexia wonders, intrigued by the girl's behavior.
“Guard... I thought I told you I didn't want visitors.” Said a voice, which appears to be that of an adult woman.
“I-I-I'm sorry, ma'am! It's just, your sister...” The guard responds in a nervous manner.
"There are no excuses! Or maybe you don't want a raise this year, hmm? The woman says, clearly annoyed with the guard.
“U-u-understood, ma’am!” The terrified guard exclaims.
“(What the hell was that all about?)” Alexia wonders, a drop of sweat running down the back of her neck.
But as soon as she finished this thought, the person they were waiting for arrived. The woman in question wears a black uniform, similar to that of a military woman, and has a belt in the center of it. She also wears a red "Scapa" brand scarf around her neck. On her chest, left side of her, are three medals that she wears, which probably represent the three Prosecutors' King Trophies that she received. She also saw that as she approached the detainee's chair, she was wearing black heels. In physical appearance, She has straight hair, which is hazel brown in color, matching her and Mia. The irises of her eyes are brown.
Her personal study of the person in front of her was interrupted the moment the girl who had not spoken a word finally decided to speak.
"H-Hello, Lana." Ema greets fearfully.
"Funny. I seem to remember that I specifically told you NOT to come here. Maybe my memory is failing?” Lana reprimands seriously.
“L-look... I didn't want to come here either, okay?” Ema says annoyed. “But your trial is tomorrow, and you still don't have a defense attorney!”
“Tomorrow I will be the one in court. This has nothing to do with you, Ema.” Lana says monotonously, before turning to look at Alexia. “Isn't that right, Miss Fey?”
“Greetings, Miss Skye.” Alexia greets politely. “I can assume you know me from some fleeting mention of my older sister, Mia Fey. I'm wrong?"
“You are well informed. Mia mentioned to me that she has two younger sisters, I assume you are the oldest of the two of you?” Lana says with the same tone.
“Yes, she is right.” Alexia responds in the same way, but internally; "(Did Lady Mia really refer to me as one of her younger sisters? That's... cute, and funny. Even she refers to me as older than Lady Maya.)" Alexia thinks with a mental smile, before continuing speaking; “Let me introduce myself properly. My name is Alexia Fey, defense attorney.”
"A pleasure. Mine is Lana, Lana Skye. And I am the chief prosecutor of this district.” She introduces herself to Lana politely.
“So, you're a prosecutor, huh? And none other than the Chief Prosecutor…” Alexia mutters to herself. “(Two sisters...one a lawyer...and the other, a newbie in her field. How many more coincidences will this case bring me?)”
“Is something wrong, Miss Fey?” Ema asks worriedly. Alexia shakes her head slowly.
“It's okay, Emma. “I was just thinking about how curious this case is, without even knowing what happened in itself.” Alexia answers with a small smile. Ema decides to accept the answer.
“So, if that's the case. There is something you should know from the start.” Lana says, interrupting the small conversation between the girls.
"And that is?" Alexia questions, intrigued.
“The suspect in this case… has already confessed to the crime.” Lana reveals, making Alexia look a little surprised by this information.
“W-wait! But the suspect… The suspect is…!” Ema says upset.
"Me. I did it." Lana completes Ema's thought. “And so, Ms. Fey. “What is she going to do next?”
“Well... A good start might be telling me exactly what happened.” Alexia answers seriously.
The answer given by the young woman surprised the prosecutor a little. She thought she would break when she heard that she had confessed to the crime, but it seems that she is more stubborn than she lets on... just like her...
"Very good." Lana says. “The crime occurred yesterday, February 21 at 17:15 P.M.”
“That's pretty specific. I doubt it would have been you who would have been monitoring the time while she “performed” the crime, right? Alexia says thoughtfully.
"That’s right. This information was taken from the witness statement. Which clearly saw me committing the crime.” Lana answers.
“Uh... Wow, that was a bit of bad luck, wasn't it?” Alexia comments with a roll of her eyes.
“The crime occurred in the underground parking lot of the Prosecutor's Office. The body was found in the trunk of the car of one of my subordinates.” Add Lana to her “testimony.”
“The Prosecutor's Office, huh?” Alexia murmurs thoughtfully. “(In the trunk of the car of one of her subordinates? A classic...)”
“They arrested me on the spot. Caught red-handed, as it were.” Lana finishes telling her story.
“(Wow, my God...)” Alexia thinks, before asking; “So who was the victim?”
“A Police Department Investigator. I guess the correct term is “Detective” or “Inspector”.” Lana answers.
"A detective...?" Ema repeats surprised. Lana nods in confirmation.
“Death was due to blood loss. Since he was stabbed in the stomach once.” Lana adds seriously.
“By you, right?” Alexia comments, arms crossed.
"That's how it is. And although death was not immediate, his wound was fatal enough to cause it.” Lana answers.
“I see... This will be much more complicated than I imagined.” Alexia says massaging her hair.
“I see that you know how significant it is for my case that the victim was an detective.” Lana says pleased. Alexia nods her head.
"What? Ms. Fey? What does it mean?" Ema asks, both confused and worried.
“It means that the police department sees Ms. Skye's conviction as a matter of pride rather than justice. Which means that they will use all the means at their disposal to achieve the desired verdict…” Alexia responds nervously, causing a shiver to run down Ema's spine.
“(This case gets worse and worse with everything I learn).” Alexia thought somewhat desperately. “(I better change the subject…)”
“So, are you the chief prosecutor?” Alexia says.
"That's right. I am responsible for supervising all trials conducted by the prosecutors of this district. I make sure prosecutors have what they need to do the job and manage all aspects. Those are my responsibilities, in a nutshell.” Lana responds eloquently.
“(That's a very long summary).” Alexia thinks with a drop of sweat.
“Still, I'm a little surprised. I thought you would recognize the chief district attorney, Ms. Fey.” Lana says suspiciously.
“Oh, I did know about you. I've just never met you in person…” Alexia says with a small smile, before sharpening her gaze and speaking in a deep voice. “Believe me… you don't want to know why I started looking for information about you…”
Lana didn't understand at first what the girl in front of her was referring to, but the moment Alexia placed her hand on her magatama, it was as if an electric shock had gone through her entire body. Despite not bleeding, her heart hurt a little at that moment, and as an involuntary reaction, she brought her right hand to her chest. Showing that there was something curious with this...
“Hmm... Lana? What happened to your hand?” Emma asks worriedly.
“A-Ah, this? I cut myself by accident. When I stabbed him, that is.” Lana answers slightly stunned.
"Eh?" Ema says surprised.
“I guess I'm not very good at being a criminal.” Lana concludes, lowering her gaze a little.
“(How am I supposed to defend this? It's time to change the subject again...)” Alexia thinks nervously, before asking; “You were at school with Mia, correct? In the same grade as her?”
“…Ema told you that too, right?” Lana says with a bit of annoyance.
“W-well, why not? “I dragged her here from her office!” Ema says annoyed.
“At least from what I've seen, I see that she indeed has a lot in common with Mia…” Lana comments, nodding her head. “If you keep this up, you will be one of the best lawyers there will ever be.”
“Oh, well thanks for the compliment.” Alexia says with a small smile. “But you still haven't answered my question.”
"Oh, sure. When we met, she was in law school. I was in my third year, and she was auditing the class, before she officially entered as a student, of course.” Lana relates. “She was different from the other students.”
"Different? That can be taken as an offense…” Alexia says, hardening her gaze, making Lana nervous. The prosecutor did not think her description could be misinterpreted.
“T-That's not what I mean!” Lana exclaims, before continuing, in a calmer tone; “I was referring to her personality and character…She was strong…Willing to do anything to become a defense attorney. Anything…"
"Yes, I know that. I was just joking-” Alexia said, before being interrupted.
“That… was probably why she was attracted to me.” Lana concludes, leaving Alexia stunned.
“E-excuse me!?” Alexia says shocked.
“Intellectually attracted!” Ema corrects with a small smile. “Lana was the best in her class, being closely followed by Ms. Mia Fey.”
“I was the best there was.” Lana says proudly.
“Although in just a few months, the roles were reversed.” Ema whispers in Alexia's ear.
“A-Ah…” Alexia stutters in shock.
“By the way, I'm doing pretty well in school too!” Ema says happily.
“Ah okay, keep going like this and don't falter, okay?” Alexia says forcing a small smile. Emma smiled happily.
“Well, I see that you two had a very nice and affectionate relationship…” Alexia says, winking at the prosecutor. In which, a pink tint appeared on her cheeks, but it was difficult to see. “But now comes the most important question of this visit.”
"Which is?" Lana asks, regaining her posture.
“Will you accept my services as your defense?” Alexia answers, making Ema nervous.
“As you can clearly see, I am admitting my guilt. I think it's safe to say... that it is in no way in your best interest to take this case. None." Lana says seriously. “So… my answer is no.”
“That's a shame…” Alexia murmurs, who was already getting up. But hands that rested on her shoulders forced her to sit down again. “E-Ema?”
“B-but Lana!” Emma exclaims. Lana remains impassive.
“You... you were always like that, weren't you?” Ema growls in annoyance, before shouting. “You never think about anyone but yourself!”
Alexia could clearly see how that last comment hurt Lana, not physically, but emotionally. How? The eyes are good windows to the soul.
“I know you didn't do it, Lana, I know! So…Then how can you say you did?” Ema exclaims with tears running down her cheeks.
“Ema…” Alexia whispers, putting her hand on the little doctor's shoulder, as a sign of support.
“If I lose you... I'll be alone! “I… hate you, Lana!” Ema exclaims at the top of her lungs before bursting into tears.
Alexia quickly gets up from her seat and gently pushes her so that it is the little doctor who sits on it.
The “lawyer” kneels in front of the scientist, takes her hand, and rubs circles on the back of it as her soft voice becomes clearer and asks her to breathe.
“Ema.” Alexia says, somewhat nervous and reassuring, “Come on, Ema. “I need you to breathe.”
At this moment, an action as basic as breathing was so strange that not even Ema could understand her request. Nothing in her mind connects, she just misinterprets, spins, and focuses on the wrong details. Ema simply let out more sobs, full of pain.
Alexia's grip on Ema's hand becomes stronger, she becomes more insistent, but still with a soft tone. “Breathe with me, okay? Sshhh… Emma, it's okay. “Just…just breathe.”
Ema still looked like she wasn't quite sure how to do that, not until Alexia herself began to expand her chest to fill her lungs with air then she was able to remember what it's really like to breathe.
The first inhalation is shaky. The exhalation as well. It seemed that she barely was able to fill her lungs with some air. But the fact that she achieved it was already an achievement that Alexia seems happy with. So, she encourages her to keep going, so she tries again.
And again. And again.
“Okay, Emma. You're doing great. She just keeps going. Inhale… and exhale…” Alexia says with a small smile.
Her eyes blinks, increasingly slowly, as does her breathing. That was until she closed her eyes completely. The only support she had to stay seated was Alexia, in which Ema now had her head lying on her chest.
“(It looks like she fell asleep)” Alexia thinks, feeling quite sorry for the girl. “(I guess our presence will no longer be necessary here.)”
Alexia proceeds to take Ema's bag and hangs it on her, after which she picks up Ema in bridal style. The girl, for being only a little shorter than her, was quite light.
“(I don't know Ema's home address… I guess it's okay if I let her stay in the office until she wakes up.)” Alexia reasons, ready to leave. The only thing missing is to say goodbye to the former chief prosecutor. So, she proceeds to turn around.
“Well, I wish you luck with… your…” Alexia said goodbye, but she stopped when she saw how Lana was turning her back on her. "… What are you doing?"
“L-Looking over my options… and… I guess the option of having someone making sure the police don't play any tricks at my trial doesn't sound so bad…” Lana answers, although her voice sounded a little shaky.
“You mean you are requesting my services as your defense?” Alexia asks, raising an eyebrow.
“That's right, but don't lose sleep over how you’ll achieve a not guilty verdict. After all, your client has already confessed. The case is over.” Lana answers. “I just want you to make sure that no dirty tricks on the part of the police go unnoticed by the prosecutor on duty or the jury… Can I trust you with that?”
“Sure… it will be my pleasure, Miss Skye.” Alexia says with a small smile. It's not like Lana could see her either way.
“Well… I'll leave the rest in your care…” Lama says as she gets up from her chair and walks to the exit. But this one stops in front of this one. “…just like Ema…please…”
"What?" It was the only thing Alexia could say, but by that time, Lana had already left. The only thing I can do at that moment was let out a tired sigh. She looks askance at the part of the table on Lana's side, seeing how there were several drops of water on it... probably tears...
"(Lana has confessed to the crime, yes... But something doesn't add up. It's that look in Ema's eyes, her reaction to Lana's refusal... There's something else going on here... and I'm going to find out what!")” Alexia thinks determined. She glances askance at the sleeping Ema in her arms, before caressing her head with his. “(I swear I will… kitten…)”

Ace Attorney: Rise From the Ashes (Day Two, Trial Former) (part two)
I feel like screenshots would add zing and be helpful, but it’d be a pain to do my own for technical reasons.  Does anyone know of a good image gallery for RftA?  Google didn’t turn up much.
Anyway.  Day Two, and it’s time for the trial of the already-confessed suspect.
"How did the investigation go yesterday?"  Lana, you could tell us something yourself. Even if you're lying through your teeth it'd give us something to work with.
Ooh, barbed little exchange between Lana and Phoenix.  "Never believe your client, they're probably a lying scumbag."  "See, being a defense attorney requires some basic faith in humanity. Unlike Mia, you don't appear to qualify."
Huh.  We’re given an upfront ambiguous warning from Edgeworth, right in front of the court.  Yes, yes we know personal feelings are icky and you don't want them near your tailored waistcoats, but why do you feel the need to disallow them right now? Phoenix has no personal emotional stake in this case.  Unless...Edgeworth thinks the proceedings are going to rebound on him.
Ema, this is not the time for sexy cross-examination fantasies.  You can go home and write fic after your sister is safe.
The dominatrix lunch lady is a "professional" witness?   Edgeworth I hope you didn't mean that the way it sounds.
Edgeworth is unmoved by your rice.  Take that, lunch lady.   (If only the judge had as much dignity.)
OH  I misread that completely.  She's a former detective!  (And Jake Marshall is a demoted detective. Connection?)  And while Edgeworth accords her due respect by calling her work first-rate, she's openly hostile to him.
And she arrested Lana herself?  If this crime was as staged and performative as I suspect, was that all part of the act?   Yeah, I don't think you were alerted by a sense of destiny or your finely honed instincts, lady.   Or that you were there to bring lunch to your boyfriend.
Would the stabbing have been as easy as Angel Starr describes it?  Didn't Goodman put up a fight at all?  Sadly our autopsy report has all of two sentences in it.
Ooh,  she just opens fire on Edgeworth with both barrels. And she offers a motive, the first one we've heard so far,  that Goodman was killed for knowing too much about corruption of evidence.
My goodness. Evidence is sacrosanct, but sexually propositioning the judge while giving testimony is fine? Got it.  (Phoenix at least tries to call out her obvious bias.)
Here’s a photograph, which the lunchlady so very thoughtfully took.  Lana with a bloodstained trenchcoat draped over her, wearing gloves, seemingly about to close the trunk of the car.  This was clearly taken after the stabbing.   But...if you witnessed the crime itself,  and arrested the suspect on the spot, would you really have had time to take this picture?  You'd be busy trying to reach Lana, surely.    (Smartphones were not a thing yet, were they?  Did Angel just happen to be carrying a camera? ....She did.  A lunchbox camera.  Perhaps for spying on prosecutors.)
Edgeworth why do you even own a knife like that?  And how did Lana supposedly get ahold of it?
Yes, thank you, that cannot possibly be a photograph of the moment of the crime,  given the lack of either victim or weapon in it.
"Are you trying to test me? I sell box lunches for a living, you know."  The translation team was having SO much fun with these.
Aha, so the knife was in the trunk.   Unless Lana knew it was there, she didn't have a weapon prepared, which seems off for a premeditated murder.
...actually why aren't we hearing Lana's own confession account on the stand instead of the lunchlady's?   I know, I know, it works better for the game to force us to reconstruct it all from clues, but what's the in-story reason?
"Mommy, are prosecutors bad people?"  Yeah, this whole thing is definitely at least partly staged to smear Edgeworth's reputation.  (also why are small children in the audience for a murder trial)
It doesn't seem to have affected his spirits, though, since he can make lunchbox jokes.  And oooh, he's firing back at Angel.  He doesn't care if it's premeditated or not, but she does.  (Why does she care so much? it's the death penalty either way in this system, isn't  it?)
Wait why is she testifying about Lana calling Goodman out to the  Prosecutor's Office?  She has no personal knowledge of that at all.  (Indeed, it turns out there is no evidence it even happened.)  Annnd here we go, she's perjuring herself.    Purple prose about "plunging the knife in again and again" that directly contradicts the autopsy report.    She hates Lana so much it's really clouding her judgment.
Edgeworth is holding Angel strictly to account on her  testimony even though it favors his case.   And he's getting distinctly sardonic about her lies.  It's nice to see that the truth does matter to him.
Ooh,  he points out the contradiction with the autopsy report himself, stealing Phoenix's thunder!   That would never have happened in previous AA games.  He's really changed, or perhaps he feels so under threat that there's no point holding back.
She...thought she saw repeated stabbing because Lana had a red scarf on?  That doesn't make a particle of sense. And wait, in the photograph Lana wasn't wearing the scarf at all.    Why are we listening to a thing this woman says?
For the second time in a row,  Edgeworth interrupts and takes over Phoenix's objection for himself.   He's demolishing her quite satisfyingly.  Perhaps it's not a desire for the truth so much as finally getting to strike back, after having people speak ill of him for years.
"After the murder, the suspect attempted to run behind the partition".  Yeees,  that absolutely fits with your picture of a cold-blooded (yet enraged) stabber committing premeditated murder in a public place with evidence all over.
You climbed a nine-foot chain link fence, in your negligee, fur coat and heels (you are definitely wearing heels), so fast that you were able to apprehend the fleeing suspect after stopping to take a picture first.  Riiight.
Lana said "muffler"...like the car muffler?   On the phone? That means Ema has lied twice now - first she hid the fact that her sister called her right after the murder, then she claimed her sister hung up without saying anything.
Ah! So Lana wasn't attempting to hide at all, she was attempting to make a phone call.  Like you do when  you've discovered a body.
Hah!  Phoenix points out that Angel just claimed to be able to look straight through the concrete partition.  I didn't actually pick that up.    And he's no longer taking anything she says at face value - he believes her statement that she saw Lana try to use the wall phone only because it's a pointless detail that no one would bother to lie about.
...So he's willing to believe she saw what she says, but from a different location? I have to agree with Edgeworth, that also sounds pointless.  Why claim to be standing somewhere else?  "Where" isn't hard - she must've been in the pointedly-mentioned and clearly labeled security room,  looking down from above.  Why not say so?
And the judge FINALLY chastises her for lying, if only mildly.   She freely admits she'll say anything to take down Lana.  And it sounds like she has a reason, beyond personal hatred.  (A justified reason?)
Good for Ema, she points out there's no obvious benefit to the location lie.  And Phoenix is the first to say the p-word.  What benefit would be worth that?
"I swear it on my finest plastic spork!" A bible would surely be redundant.
Yes, five minutes between murder and arrest is  a TON of time.  Lana could easily have  escaped if she'd wanted to.  Angel surely made enough noise to alert her, running around and even taking her picture.   And Lana just apparently stood there? Why?
YES boot her off the stand, judge!  Don't let the caviar lunch sway you!
Court is adjourned, but there are still so many questions.  We still don't know what-  huh? Angel isn't ready to stop talking yet?
"I... might be able to save you."    Now isn't THAT an interesting statement.  It sounds like she's offering to save Edgeworth himself somehow, not just his case.  Even though she hates his guts.
The judge very politely tells her to feed her new claim of "decisive evidence" to someone else.  I approve,  though of course she'll end up having her say anyway.
NOW you bring up a bloody shoe? Which was, I'm going to bet, not in the police investigation report?  Why do you have Lana's shoe, and what does blood on it prove that the blood  on her coat and gloves doesn't?
I was right, Edgeworth did not know about the shoe.   And he brings up "evidence law", that new evidence can't be introduced without the approval of the police department. Which is weird, because I certainly remember Phoenix producing all kinds of new evidence during former trials.  Not infrequently hidden or stolen from the police.  (Does that mean the victim's ID card which Phoenix pocketed is inadmissible? I bet it does not mean that. Edgeworth just doesn't want to accept evidence from this annoying person who hates him.)
Too bad for him, because she got it approved by the police department on her own...today?  I know Edgeworth is the opposition here, but that does not seem fair to him.  People who are not Phoenix need time to prepare their cases.  (Mostly because, unlike Phoenix, they actually have cases.)
Huh.  I don't know if this will be called out as a plot point, but a fundamental difference in approach just struck me here.   Edgeworth claims there could have been some bloody footprints that just didn't happen to be in the picture. He doesn't know, because unlike Phoenix he doesn't go to crime scenes. He relies on the police reports given to him.   That seems like it could come back to bite him in a much bigger way than just  this shoe.
Lana kicked over a water-filled oil drum while struggling with Angel.  ...Apparently no one but me finds this highly implausible.  Oil drums are heavy!  Even when empty,  kicking one over is a stunt for a martial artist, and when full...I can't picture it.
"Ah, yes, I will perform this feat of strength to wash away the bloody footprints, removing all the evidence against me. Except for my bloody coat, gloves and shoes, the murder weapon, the body, the eyewitness, and  the photo."   Edgeworth why does this seem logical to you? I an almost see Lana rolling her eyes in the prisoner's dock.
Hah. At the moment of failure,  Ema  stumbles on the one sure way to get Angel Starr pissed off enough to derail the trial again - accuse her of being on the side of a prosecutor in any way, shape or form.   She obviously *is*,  in that she and Edgeworth want the same verdict, but she can't stand to hear it said out loud.
NOW of all times, she produces a photo of the body??  ...I guess proof that she withheld even more evidence from Edgeworth, against both their interests,  is supposed to be proof that she isn't on his side?
The ghost of Mia appears in Phoenix's  mind, telling him not to give up.  And indeed, that photo shows something sticking out of the car's  muffler.   I was right, Lana meant that when she said "muffler" on the  phone.
The trial has to be suspended while someone goes and looks to see what the thing in Edgeworth's car muffler is.  (Which really should've been noticed by any competent police investigators.  As should the fact that the suspect's shoe was missing on her arrest, and nowhere to be found.  Is the cowboy not actually very good at this?)
Next time: trial part 2, in which the judge is hopefully so stuffed as to no longer be susceptible to lunchbox bribery.

The Great Dual Substitute Turnabout-more designs
So as you guys know I just barely started an Ace Attorney fanfic, which I have as of this post now, the first chapter up (which you can read here) (or you can read here)
I made a post showing off some references to character designs for that fic (as I haven’t sketched stuff yet baring two characters so I’m just giving my readers a frame of reference until I do finally have all my sketches up.)  (which here is the post in question I’m referring too)
Here are some more character design references for the fic.
Edit: Another character design was added 4/6/18-original post had all characters that you currently see below save for Angel Starr, I decided to add some references to her...also some small changes made to Pearl’s design.
If you are reading this post before you read my fanfic then here is a basic synopsis of my fanfic. There are two universes that are connected, alternate universes of each other.
One universe based on the canon one: Phoenix Wright is a defense attorney and the boss of the Wright Anything Agency and the universe he comes from takes place shortly after Dual Destines but stuff from Spirit of Justice hasn’t been tackled as of yet (and quite frankly I’m debating if I will tie elements into Spirit of Justice with this fic or just having it deviate into a becoming an alternate universe of it’s own from canon) but for the most part basically from everything Dual Destines and before is all canon in this Ace Attorney universe, the Attorney universe if you will.
The other universe is a very AU universe. A universe where Phoenix instead became a prosecutor.  There are very many many MANY differences between this universe and the main attorney one as you will read through the course of the story but I don’t want to spoil anything to big about that universe so I’ll just keep this quick and simple.
Basically our Defense Attorney Phoenix Wright wakes up in the body of the Prosecutor Phoenix and now has to try and live out his life while trying to figure out his mysterious of his universe and try to find a way back home to his universe. Prosecutor Phoenix wakes up in a similar situation except he’s in the main Attorney universe, waking up in good ol’ Attorney Phoenix’s body and has to solve mysteries there and figure out how to live as a defense attorney, be a dad now, all the while trying to find his way back home.
Now here are some more character design references for characters we’ll be seeing in the alternate Prosecutor universe.
First up I have Pearl Fey.
Basically she’ll wear the same outfit she wears in Dual Destinies/Spirit of Justice, except when going through some concept designs for Pearl for the newer games I came across this hairstyle which I adored on Pear, the difference is her little hair loopies will be braided hair that is looped in the style below. So...braided hair loopies if you will. Also Pearl’s sash will be colored purple while the jacket she wears will be pink. The hairclips you see in the image below holding up her hair loopies will also be colored pink.
Tumblr media
Next we have Iris Fey.
I won’t go too much into Iris and Pearl’s backstory here as that will all be covered in my fic, but just know that unlike in the canon universe, Pearl grew up being surrounded by the love of her cousins--Mia and Maya, her loving Aunt Misty, and most importantly, she grew up with a very loving and caring older sister Iris. Iris and Pearl are extremely close in this universe, that’s all I have to say on that anyways...Iris will have an outfit identical to Maya’s old outfit to match her little sister, Pearl, only the dress will be longer (all the way to her ankles) and her jacket will be a magenta color while the bow/sash tied around her waist will be purple.
Tumblr media
But yes her necklace will be the same as the one she has in trial and tribulations as she’s not as spiritually as gifted as her cousin Maya or her little sister Pearl, so she still doesn’t have as many beads as them. Also I’m giving Iris a new hairstyle. Iris’s hair is longer and styled just like Princess Leia’s celebration style from the end of Star Wars: A New Hope
Tumblr media
Next up we have, Klavier Gavin.
He’s basically the same character. Still part time rock star and part time prosecutor. He’ll look just as you see in the image below, the image is of some concept art I found, I rather liked the design and decided to use it.
Tumblr media
Next we have Simon Blackquill.
He too is still a prosecutor, and is still a samurai obsessed weeb fanatic. His design is based on this concept art below (basically combine the two, no bowtie, it will be based on the design on the right but he’ll also wear that scarf, which the scarf will match with Taka’s funny enough lol).
Tumblr media
However no, he won’t have that hair in the image here. He’ll still have the same hairstyle we’re used to, except he didn’t grow it out in the prosecutor universe. He has it short like he did when Metis Cykes was still alive in Dual Destinies. But yes, he’ll still have the skunk stripe even though his hair isn’t in a pony tail like in the main universe.
Next we have Lana Skye.
Lana appears in this fic, and in this fic she and Ema never dealt with an incident like SL-9, so she’s still a detective here. She wears the same outfit as she does in this picture here, the only difference is she wears her hair in a high pony tail.
Tumblr media
Which naturally brings me to our next one, Ema Skye.
Ema got to fulfill her dream and she became the awesome forensic science investigator gal like she did in Spirit of Justice, in the prosecutor universe.  Her design is based on some concept art of her for Apollo Justice. So while similar to her canon design, it still has it’s differences (also that top is just so cute).
Tumblr media
Next, we have Kay Faraday.
Since Phoenix is a prosecutor in the alternate universe, he actually meets and started working with Kay Faraday like Edgeworth did in the main series. How her and Phoenix met is not going to be the same as her and Edgeworth in Investigations...but there are some similarities. Kay’s outfit is going to be based on this concept art of her below, the main difference is of course she’ll still have her same dark hair and the scarf is the exact same as her scarf she wears in investigations. Also her jacket top is colored maroon instead while the skirt is a navy blue to match with her scarf.
Tumblr media
Lastly we have Angel Starr.
You’ll remember her from the Rise from the Ashes case from the first game. Here we’ll have Angel Star dressed differently as she isn’t a lunch lady in this universe but still working for the police, but this is Angel and she loves to dress a certain way so to keep true to her character I’ll have her as a foxy cop.
Tumblr media
In the image above you’ll see a white business looking blouse that is unbottoned to show some cleavage, I image Angel would be wearing something like this. She’d also have on a choker necklace that has a little single silver star charm hanging from it around her neck. She’d wear form-fitting black pants and while not high heeled, she’d still be wearing designer boots because she’s a fashionable lady.  Also she still has her bangs long and swept over one eye, but I’d like to image her hair is a shorter cut, like the 1920s bob cut, with a black beret on her head.  Kinda like this image below. (The only difference is she has longer bangs and the hair isn’t so curly). I just saw this image and I loved the look.
Tumblr media
That’s all for now. I’ll have some more character design references I’ll be posting later for other characters that will appear in the alternate prosecutor universe, so tune in soon to see some of that.
