Force's Disney Geek Master Theory: Why Twisted Wonderland Is Called Twisted Wonderland

We have all grown to know and love various Disney characters over the years, correct? Yet, I believe a lot of us can argue that not many characters have the same effect on us even as adults today as the Villains do within their respective movies. In the game Disney: Twisted Wonderland as we all know and love, the select boys to Overblot are supposed to have the "souls" of their Villain counterparts, right? But...why is it called "Twisted" Wonderland, then? The truth may lie within something that has been right in front of us all along, my friends: the meaning of a mirror. Ready to buckle in for this one? If so, then here we go!

We have seen all of these guys share character traits, looks, etc with their Disney counterparts, correct? Well, what if I were to tell you that things in terms of the "main" guys that we are supposed to pay attention to aren't exactly what they seem? This could be analyzed in a few different ways, honestly, yet the most prominent way is this: the differences in their personalities- they are reversed. Let us take this bit by bit, shall we?

Ah, yes. The Queen Of Hearts. The ranting, raging, bundle of red, black, and gold we all know and love. (or else heads would roll, I'm sure) One of the things that everybody knows about her is that she's extremely hellbent on the crazy rules that she makes up and is prone to anger honestly very easily. Yeah, you can connect that to Riddle- but think about it for a second. While that rage and the rule thing is still there, it isn't as prominent with him as it was with her, is it? With the Queen of Hearts, her whole "issue" was that she wished to make everybody listen to her and follow her every command- but Riddle was essentially always following the rules of another- not his own. This seemed to make Riddle a little more calm most of the time in terms of how he handled and oversaw things. It wasn't until he actually Overblotted that the "listen to me and only me" thing came out- buuuuuuttttttt I'll get to that part in a bit.

Next: Leona and Scar. While we honestly didn't get to see a lot of what went on behind the scenes in the Outlands in terms of how Scar even met the hyenas to begin with at all, one thing can honestly be said- Scar worked very hard to get where he was. I mean, it's not like you can get an entire pack of rabid, hungry hyenas onto your side in the course of a single day, or maybe even a week (especially as a lion, no less). No, something to that extreme takes careful planning, wording, and stringing along to ensure that nothing goes wrong along the way. The way Scar spoke to Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed made it seem as though he had known them for a looooonngggg time before this- that's where that behind the scenes planning comes in. And then...you have Leona. Leona, from what we can tell in Chapter 2, planned the idea for the "endgame" alright- but he didn't actually act upon any of the plan for himself. Ruggie did. Even in the Lion King, we see that Scar had no problems whatsoever getting his paws dirty a little within his own scheme to take his "rightful place" at the head of Pride Rock- but Leona quite honestly did not a thing once Ruggie was in motion. See where this is starting to head?

Azul and Ursula. Ursula, the Disney baddie queen of my heart Ursula, the Sea Witch. She was known all around the ocean floor for helping out poor little merfolk in secret, wasn't she? Yet, nobody ever really seemed to catch wind of the whole "her turning those who didn't quite fit the bill into polyps" thing, did they? That was one of the things that made her such a honest threat to Ariel herself- because Ursula was cunning. She did things behind the scenes, and sure- we could catch onto it out in the audience (annnddd maybe Sebastian and Flounder as well), but nobody else really seemed to, right? Azul is the complete opposite in this standpoint. He instills direct fear into his "workers" and those even beyond and within his dorm. Like- basically most knew that this dude was bad news to begin with. Azul, mostly, seemed to hide his cunning facade behind a fake yet still seemingly "soft and genuine" smile and act. But all in all, he didn't really attempt to "hide" anything- hell, he even proclaimed his entire plan of what everyone with those things on their heads were gonna do for him in the open! At least when Ursula sang as Vanessa, she was in an almost perfectly enclosed room with nobody else around.

Jamil and Jafar. This comparison here, given what occurs in the movie Aladdin, is honestly one of the biggest possible indicators of this reoccuring theme I shall clarify in a bit. Jafar, while being sneaky, was known for being a more "out there" Disney Villain in terms of his personality alongside that of his partner Iago in the film. He would smile in a sinister way, he would crack jokes out in the open, and let us not forget his crazed yet oddly interesting laughter. Jamil? He's the exact opposite. Given his past and what he has had to dealt with growing up with Kalim, he is much more reserved and barely releases a chuckle or cracks a smile at all. His personality is a lot more repressed than that of Jafar himself throughout the film. Jamil has been so used to having to hold himself back thanks to his parents in favor of Kalim's family, he doesn't seem to know how to "let go" whatsoever. Yet Jafar, while still maintaining that sneaky side of him as well, has no problems whatsoever letting a little hang loose whenever he so chooses to.

Vil and the Evil Queen. This one honestly may be a bit more self explanatory than the others- but the difference between these two is their expressions of themselves. The Evil Queen was the very first animated counted Disney Villain within Disney's history- yet, she barely had any lines throughout the film at all. Her ranges of expression were almost little to none thanks to the era in which the movie was released in- but she always looked like she was pissed, huh? Vil is the exact opposite of her in this sense. He is able to fully express himself through his various facial expressions, theatrical abilities, musical experiences, fashion style, and even how he behaves. Vil is able to do so much more than the Evil Queen did or could do within that time period, that it's almost a little staggering if you fully picture it.

Idia and Hades. Now, now. We haven't honestly seen too much of the flaming blue boy yet in TWST, but one thing is apparent here right off the bat- in terms of his personality? He is the exact opposite of Hades. Idia is much like Jamil but to a more "geek" degree- he's extremely introverted, shy, a bit snippy, yet mainly keeps to himself and his gaming tech. Hades is most often renowned as the Disney Villain with the most personality- and the best humor. Hades has no problem whatsoever being "out there" with his crazy puns, sassy remarks, anger, and even mocking behavior. I mean, please, guys- I haven't been this choked up since I got a hunk of moussaka caught in my throat!

Finally, Malleus and Maleficent. Ooooohoooooooo boy. We have to count out the live action movie Maleficent for this one (sorry horned queen fans). One thing that basically everybody even with their toe in the water in that of Disney movies kind of knows this fact- Maleficent is c r u el. She's got a bizarre set of dark powers and an even blacker heart than that. Hell, we basically had to "soften her up" a little bit in Maleficent thanks to just how seemingly irredeemable her character is in that of Sleeping Beauty. I mean, c'mon now- cursing an infant? And we get no explanation for that in the original? C'mon, now. Anyways, Malleus? As we all can tell by now, this dude is the compleeettteeeeeee opposite. Sure, he has those repressed bits here and there too, but it is evident that this dude has a heart crying out for the MC and it is big, bold, and golden to the core once you look past how he looks. He sent the MC a card for winter break, for crying out loud. Yeah, let me know the next time you see Maleficent do that smh.

Now, I have avoided using a certain word up until this point to see if anybody could catch on to what exactly is happening here. Did you figure it out? Reverse. The boys that either have Overblotted already or intend to Overblot soon stop holding out on us, Chapter 6 have had the exact opposite personalities compared to that of their Villain counterpart- until one prime point in their "character arcs". Their Overblot.

Riddle wished to have all bow before him and obey his rules.

Leona led his entire dorm into ruin and nearly sanded away the entire school in the process.

Azul let himself finally free of his personal shackles entirely and "took what was his".

Jamil finally let himself go and opened up more in his personality, almost seeming to be driven insane in the process.

Vil wanted to become the most beautiful one of all and would kill anyone within the way of that goal without any hesitation whatsoever.

The moment that the boys' Overblotted, that was the exact moment when the "soul" of their Disney Villain counterpart took control. Keeping that idea in mind, that should mean that this will happen in the upcoming chapters and their Overblots:

Idia will show off all of the personality, powers, and intelligence that he has been keeping down within this introverted self of his.

Malleus will become so broken by being left out and alone in the cold for the final time that he will turn into a completely cruel Fae and possibly nearly kill either the MC or the representation of Prince Philip within that Chapter in the process.

Ikerev Army Boys Playing Twisted Wonderland

After reading @valnyte’s HC with Ikevamp, I wanted to do one with Ikerev too.

Alice introduces the boys to Twisted Wonderland and is shocked to get them all hooked into the game. Let’s say they all understand the game.

*just want to say, the strategies I typed in these HCs are actually legitimate strategies I’ve heard from people, and if you have the cards for it, I suggest you try them out

Black Army

Ray Blackwell

He’s in mainly for the story.

F for him, his fav character is Che’nya.

He claims Heartslabyul is his favorite episode because it has the best story out of the currently released episodes so far, but the Black Army isn’t falling for that.

He’s not wrong though, in my opinion. Heartslabyul, along with Octavinelle, has the best story.

He had to make it a rule that no one should spend the Black Army funds for gacha after the one time Seth spent 10k lin for gacha.

He does assemble his team but only bases his assembling on favs and a bit from Sirius’ advice.

He can’t help but smile fondly at Ace and Deuce’s shenanigans and dumbassery; they remind him of him and Fenrir.

Sirius Oswald

Oh he’s gonna have fun with the strategizing part of the game.

He will write down in a notebook all the card information he has attained and would ask from other soldiers for their cards if he doesn’t have a certain card so he can note down their stats at max level groovied, their magic skills, their typings, their buddies, and even how they perform in battle.

He’s the first and only one in the Black Army who scored SSS on tests. Everyone was floored.

Listen, he probably discusses these strategies at dinner especially because some people ask him how he scores ridiculously high in tests.

“Fairy Leona may be a defense card, but if with Kalim and Rook, who are his attack buddies, his attack stat will increase to 5k+. If you have SSR Kalim, who boosts your ally, his attack stat will increase further, and it’s even better that Kalim’s attack boost is magic 1 and he is Leona’s duo partner, therefore strengthening Leona’s duo magic. If limit broken at a certain level, he can deal 10k damage per hit with duo magic. The only other SSR who can inflict the same amount of damage is Riddle dorm and even then, you need to have Cater on your team with max buddy to even experience such a boost.”

He may not have superb gacha luck and he is an f2p, but whatever cards he possesses, he can somehow make them work in his favor.

He has a spiritual connection to Trey Clover.

Luka Clemence

Hello, may I introduce you to Luka “I have 7 SSRs only, it’s not that much” Clemence?

No, I’m not kidding. This guy has insane luck as an f2p.

He snagged 7 SSRs in two weeks and when Seth was crying about his gacha luck, that was the only time Luka realized 7 SSRs was a lot?

“I JUST WANT AN SSR SO BAD, I ONLY HAVE MY TUTORIAL PULL ONE”

“Huh?¿ How can you only have one?”

“BECAUSE I’M THAT UNLUCKYYYYY WHY HOW MANY DO YOU HAVE”

“I only have 7...”

Seth’s screams could be heard from Red Territory.

Ok but Seth has every right to freak out. Luka has ALL dorm leader SSRs, biggest tank of the game SSR Trey, and tweels.

Luka dislikes Riddle and Vil for the fact they both bear similarities with his brother. He has mixed feelings with the former, though, due to his backstory.

When it comes to rhythmics, he laments about how he’s a musician yet he can’t get the timing right. Poor fingers are slow.

Rip him in hard mode, especially for Octavinelle’s and prologue 14. They’re h e l l.

Seth Hyde

Rip Seth, he just wants an SSR

His initial SSR was Ruggie and he was crying when he learned from Sirius that he could have rerolled.

His favorite character is Vil and he wants him to come home, but only his Rs arrived.

It’s a wonder how 10k lin wouldn’t bring robe Vil and lab Vil home.

And he still has less SSRs than Luka LMAO

He’s cried at almost every OB backstory except Leona’s.

His favorite rhythmic is the paint the roses one.

Fenrir Godspeed

Luck in battle? Yes. Luck in gacha? Who’s that?

Fenrir spends money on the game but he uses his family’s wealth. Don’t worry, he knows how to manage his savings, but that’s mainly because he accidentally inputted the wrong birth year when he first put it in, so it listed him as a minor.

He loves Ace because he felt like he could relate to him so much.

His first SSR was Riddle, so he really wanted Azul’s SSR when his banner first came out. He hit pity pull and got duped by Floyd.

It’s ok Fenrir, I feel your pain, except I never hit pity.

He loves the rhythmics. Often, he’ll be singing the tunes out loud.

He’s gonna sing the Magift rhythmic songs when he’s training with other soldiers.

Red Army

Lancelot Kingsley

It took him weeks to figure out where alchemy classes are.

He has 4 SSRs who duo with each other, so that’s lit af.

He doesn’t know why he keeps losing in certain battles, though.

He also spent money on gacha oof

Riddle makes him chuckle. He has such a huge resemblance to Jonah, after all.

Trey makes him think of Sirius too often.

He ends up laughing at the thought of Sirius being Jonah’s helper.

I mean hey, they could have at least been friends if things played out differently back in school.

His favorite is Malleus, though, for the fact that he is powerful and lonely.

Jonah Clemence

He didn’t touch on the game at first because he thought it was ‘a waste of time’. It didn’t help that Edgar teased him for having the same voice as Riddle. It was only when he found out Lancelot plays the game and looks so happy with it that he decided to give it a try.

He was surprised at how similar he and Riddle are, and he liked the little queen even more for his birthday, being the same as Luka’s.

He will never admit he likes the game, though, but the soldiers catch him humming some of the songs sometimes.

Another thing he will never admit: he felt a lump in his throat when he read Riddle’s backstory, but when he got to Azul’s, he cried for an hour. He found himself most impressed with Azul’s voice acting prior to the overblot, but the story about Azul’s past had hit him hard. They experienced the exact same thing after all (being bullied) but it was interesting how differently they both turned out afterwards.

Jonah isn’t too big on the meta gameplay. Sure, he strategizes, but he mostly takes into consideration the stats of a card, not so much with the performance of it in battle. He won’t ever say it to Edgar, but he does take Edgar’s advice into consideration, even applying it if he has the cards for it.

Jonah scoffs at spending on gacha. Ultimately, they’re just JPEGs. Why spend on something that can’t be touched? Anyway, he has 5 SSRs and several good SRs such as robe Jade, robe Vil, and lab Trey. He can manage.

He loves the rhythmic section of the game. He may not be the best in the battles, but he’s talented in the rhythmics. Sure, some rhythmics were difficult, but he always scores SS on one or two tries regardless of difficulty. His favorite songs are the fairy gala songs and he’s caught humming them.

Edgar Bright

Just like Sirius, he has fun strategizing in battle. He will blab to Lancelot, Jonah, and Zero about the different strategies he’s come up with.

“Did you know you can make SSR Jade an attack SSR? His magic 1 raises his attack stat, and if you max it, hm will it exceed 5,000? I forget. And if you put Trey in the same team as Jade, he will further boost his attack, and if their buddy level has been maxed, hm perhaps you might reach 6k+ for Jade’s attack stat?”

“Did you know Azul’s attack stat can surpass even Floyd’s attack stat? If you max his buddy with Jade, he can be as strong as Riddle dorm at lvl80.”

“I’m sorry, but after testing out fairy Kalim, his SR cards are still better performance-wise.”

He’s the first and only one to have SSS and just like Jonah, he aces the rhythmic section.

He finds himself most amused with Jade for his shadiness and is probably the one who goes, “Jade, don’t you just want to go apeshit?”

Kyle Ash

He tends to miss lessons often either because he has a lot of patients or because he’s hungover, so he tends to complain about how weak his cards are.

He doesn’t care much about the meta gameplay and plays by favorites. Somehow, he manages to use the good cards and hits rank S.

He doesn’t join the events and doesn’t understand the woes of gacha since he always manages to get the cards he wants.

Luckiest guy honestly, and some of the soldiers jokingly beg for his luck.

Zero

He also strategizes but he mostly follows Edgar’s advice since he tends to get to it first before Zero.

Zero doesn’t play too often because of work, but the game is addicting enough to make him catch the restored AP every 2.5 hours. Anyway, even if he didn’t want to, Alice would have tried to get his workaholic butt off of work.

Poor baby has given up on prologue 14 hard mode rhythmic.

His favorite character is Jack for his good boy nature and he found himself liking the Octavinelle chapter for his presence and rationality. Beans Day event was also fun for him because of Jack.

HC of Kalim x Yuu/MC with him getting the healing he needed

*Part of Kalim’s Birthday Series*

·       After the whole OBing event, things were, for lack of better words, awkward

·       It was obvious to him that Jamil didn’t intend to stay friends with him. Well, at least for now. And he respected it

·       No matter what was said to him before the final fight with OB Jamil, he couldn’t help but still blame himself. Jamil was suffering and Kalim didn’t even notice that his one and only friend he could trust his life with had felt that way. He failed Jamil not as a master, but as a friend, a brother

·       Every night he would stare either at the wall or the ceiling of his room, thinking about ways to lighten Jamil’s burden as vice dorm leader. He didn’t want to depend on Jamil anymore, especially when it was burdening the person he thought of as family

·       Kalim no longer woke up with Jamil coming into his room, nor did he eat breakfast made by him. To everyone’s surprise, Kalim was able to do it himself with not hesitance. Heck, Kalim was able to dress properly on his own, showing he was capable of taking care of himself. No one would’ve suspected that Kalim practiced until he was able to replicate to perfection what Jamil used to do for him on his own during the rest of break

·       Even his scarf and make up didn’t look out of place - something he had to spend all night trying to get right. Something none would notice, as Scarabia’s dorm members and Jamil sees the same signature smile on his face and hear his bright greeting

·       Many of the NRC students were able to believe their eyes as they saw Kalim studying at the library by himself. Usually he would be studying with Jamil at the dorms, or would try to without getting bored. But who would’ve thought Kalim would be seen without the vice dorm, by himself, at the school’s library

·       One day turned to five. Five turned to ten as people see Kalim studying hard on his own but struggling. The Scarabia’s dorm members would try to invite him into their group study session but Kalim continued to say no, knowing that the one leading it is Jamil

·       He didn’t expect to see Floyd and Jade nor be offered to be tutored by them. Okay, more by Jade than Floyd, who wanted a pal to bail studying

·       Soon enough, he finds himself hanging around the twins more, which, of course, led to him becoming closer to Azul. He would help out with Mostro Lounge, going as far as funding Azul time to time as thanks for helping him with his studies. And would Azul mind? Nope. Mostro Lounge #2 is about to come home, no way he’s giving up at this point! Even better – no contract needed. It’s all. Freaking. Free. Money

·       Kalim would meet up with Yuu/MC and try to help them out as well, feeling bad knowing how they were caught against their will and had to help solve the whole situation

·       When he tries to apologize and offers to actually help fix the rest of the dorm, Yuu/MC couldn’t handle it anymore

·       Grabbing both of his hands, Kalim gets scolded by Yuu/MC for not learning anything what they were tried to tell them in the end of the desert

·       What happened during Chapter 4 wasn’t his fault. Yes, he should’ve tried to talk to Jamil, yes, he was too naïve but was he the one to plan the whole thing? No. He didn’t force Jamil to OB nor did he try to hurt him. Yuu/MC tells Kalim to quit blaming everything on himself

·       Confliction and frustration start to pile up in Kalim and finally the dam broke as he finally yelled how he didn’t know what to do anymore. He starts talking about how his fate as the eldest has always brought tragedy, stress, and hatred to his loved ones and no matter how much he tries, he still can’t protect them

·       He cries about how he wanted to make others happy while living the normal life others seem to have. He didn’t want to cause people pain; he didn’t want to cause people to be burdened because of him. But what’s the point of enduring everything when in the end it was only going to be useless?

·       One thing leads to the next, and now he’s crying in Yuu/MC’s arms, pouring everything he had held in. The loneliness, the frustration, the despair, and the depression. Just like how Oasis Maker was able to create a flood from rain, his tears drench his face and Yuu/MC’s shirt

·       When he calms down, he gets hugged tightly by Yuu/MC, their hand patting his head while they comfort him. They tell him that he’s strong and tells him that it’s because of he was able to stay strong this whole entire time, his dorm happens to be one filled with the most happiness compared to the rest

·       Even if he wasn’t as calculative and mature as Jamil, he was able to take care of everyone’s need and became one of the most loved and depended dorm leader. His cheeriness made people smile, his consideration made people not worry, and the fact he’s willing to listen and try to help solve other’s problems made him loveable. Yuu/MC surprises him by telling that he’s too selfless – too altruistic and it’s because of this trait, it has become his weakness

·       After the whole talk ended, he finds himself sleepy and accidentally falls asleep in Yuu/MC’s arms

·       When he wakes up, he’s in an unfamiliar bedroom and starts to freak out at first that he was kidnapped again. But when he remembers what had happened and where he was, he quickly looks at his phone and freaks out again, seeing that it’s now past 8 p.m.

·       Just when he’s about open the door of the room, Yuu/MC enters holding a tray of food, surprised when they see Kalim right in front of the door

·       Kalim quickly grabs hold of the tray that was about slip out of their hands, while using his free arm to catch Yuu/MC from falling

·       Flustered, Kalim apologizes while Yuu/MC tells him that it was fine, though, wondering why he was up

·       Kalim explains how he didn’t realize he had fallen asleep and was really late, probably worrying Jamil who still performed his duties as vice dorm leader only to calm down when Yuu/MC tells Kalim that they had already contacted Jamil and got the okay that Kalim could stay the night with them

·       Feeling embarrassed again, Kalim blushes and mumbles an “Oh, I see”  and blushes more when he remembers how much he cried. He tells Yuu/MC he would get them a new uniform since he ruined theirs with his tears

·       Yuu/MC tries to dissuade Kalim but after them playing the game “Yes; No”, they end up changing the topic and asks if Kalim was feeling hungry. He’s about to say no, but his stomach growls preventing from saying it

·       In the end, Yuu/MC and Kalim ends up having a sleep over party with Grim on the side, trying to cheat when they play cards or boardgames. To Yuu/MC and Grim’s surprise, Kalim ends up winning majority of the games making him feel bashful as he explained he would often play them with his 40+ younger siblings

·       Since then, Kalim would hang out with Yuu/MC at Ramshackle Dorm and try to get them to join the light music club though it ends up with him and Yuu/MC chatting and relaxing

·       The one to notice first the change in Kalim’s smiles would be the Sea trio, with Jade pointing out how Kalim’s smile seem to be more…happier and cheerful if that was even possible while Floyd would poke “Sea Otter-kun” to tell them what happened to make him seem like the sun now

·       Kalim would reply with “nothing, just feeling happier than before” only for Azul to pick up the fact that Kalim seemed to be hiding something and questions if it had anything to do with a certain prefect

·       Kalim would laugh and admit that he’s been hanging out with Yuu/MC more frequently, which made Azul hum in understanding and reply with a vague “makes sense”

·       Visits to Ramshackle started to become more frequent, to the point he would have a bedroom marked with his name on it

·       And as time went by, Kalim starts to realize that he really likes Yuu/MC. They make his heart calmer, reminding him to not burden himself or hold stuff in but let it out even if it means coming to them and talking about his feelings

·       He also starts noticing small things like how Yuu/MC tends to look exhausted yet happy when having to mom Deuce, Ace, and Grim, or when having to deal with something Crowley forced asked them to do, they look stressed yet tries to stay positive. But what makes his heart pounds faster is when Yuu/MC laughs and smiles when they seem to genuinely enjoy something

·       When Vil attempts to poison Yuu/MC after seeing them as a threat, it was Kalim’s first time actually getting angry. The rage he showed even made Jamil stay on the edge and willfully listen to Kalim’s orders, not sure how to actually calm Kalim when his wrath literally covers his whole being

·       Kalim realizes that he actually has fallen for Yuu/MC by the time Fairy Gala comes in

·       He became mesmerized by Yuu/MC’s attire and blushes when he gets complimented by them

·       Vil and Leona, who somehow became his friends (though they would like to argue otherwise), would be trading smirks and try to push him to confessing to the prefect, teasing him how his love for them was so innocent and pure

·       When the operation to steal back the magic stone ended successfully, Kalim would convince Jamil, who had recently accepted their new-found friendship, to let him take the magic carpet and visit Yuu/MC

·       After arguing about “how irresponsible of the dorm leader to go out after curfew” and “he needs to fix his habit of announcing something big suddenly”, Kalim leaves the dorm and flies to Ramshackle Dorm

·       Knocking on the window, Yuu/MC would be greeted by Kalim on the carpet, extending his hand and inviting them for a night ride

·       They seemed to hesitate at first until Grim butts into the conversation and tells Kalim he wants to ride the magic carpet again but with someone with experience since their attempt caused them to crash

·       During the ride, Kalim would glance at Yuu/MC time to time while chatting with them the whole time until they pass the clouds and see the moon. He then turns and confesses his feelings for them

·       He quickly adds on and rambles how it’s okay if they reject him and he totally understands and respects their choice if they do only to get silenced by a kiss

·       Yuu/Mc would look at Kalim and teasingly asks Kalim what if they didn’t want to reject him
