Doctor. Alexia putellas x reader.
Angst
As a medic of a football club, not having anything to do is considered a blessing. You are the happiest member of the team when a training session or a match goes without a hiccup. However, when an injury does in fact happen you train yourself to isolate your feelings and be as objective as possible with your patients.
As the years progressed you had a close relationship with the team, you considered all of them to be a part of the family. Especially your relationship with a certain captain you had caught a big crush for.
Being subtle about your relationship isn't as easy with Alexia being around almost all the time. You both tried very hard to keep your bodies off of each other which were successful most of the time. However, sometimes she would steal a kiss on your office, hold you waist, or just look at you with most love sick eyes when you were taping yet up.
Your relationship only got stronger during her ACL recovery. You were the chief doctor responsible for her rehab in which you did well and you were her girlfriend who held her at night when she had doubts about her career.
When Alexia first came back to the pitch you were very proud of her, you continued to support her and be there for her at every start and sub, and you celebrated the hardest when she scored.
The team didn't know about your relationship but they knew you two were close after her rehab.
Today was as usual as any other day. You started out the work day by checking out the girls, taping some of them before sending them off to the field. You would normally watch the girls train and observe if anybody was hiding an injury.
You were watching as usual when you heard a familiar scream. You ran to the field as quickly as possible.
“joder joder joder” yelled Alexia.
“ It's okay I am here with you. You are gonna be okay, is it your knee?.” You say brushing the hair out of her face.
“ No no, I am fine, just help me stand up.”
“ Ale no you need to be evaluated the way you scream, want normal and you like you are in a lot of pain.
“ I told you I am alright I need to train, just go “ she said while trying to get up and walk but she failed.
“ Alexia you are not playing another minute you either come with Me or I will bring out the stretcher. “
She complies with you after you give her a stern look.
Once you are inside your office she doesn't say a word to you but you didn't need her to, you knew she was in pain and she was afraid to show it. After examining her knee you knew that she affected the acl graft.
You sit down next to her, she is still looking at the ground and not saying a thing.
“ Amor, it's gonna be okay. I will be with you the whole way again. It's just a set back honey “
You see a tear come out of her eyes which you wipe with your thumb.
Alexia normally reacts every time you touch her but this time she was stiff and she still hasn't said a word.
You quickly get your stuff, give her crouches and take her home, leaving your responsibilities to your assistant.
When you get home Alexia goes directly to the couch and shuts down, so you follow her.
“ Ale let's go shower,we will do it together with some music just like you like.”
Still no response or even a look.
“ Okay enough babying get up right now it's not the end of the world you will get back up again.” You say hoping the thought treatment would help her snap out of it.
“ You don't know how I feel.” You barely hear her say.
“ Ale of course I do. You feel helpless, tired, and angry. That's how I feel too. yes this is happening to you but just fight for yourself just like I want to do for you.”
She doesn't respond to you but you see her close off on you.
“ Ale don't go there again. Please. Let's go shower and then we can talk.” You say and hold out your hand for her to take.
Once you are in the shower you strip her of her kit, and hold her under the warm water. You give her a few kisses before you wash her hair slowly and massage her scalp. She is still stiff under you but you continue to try and get the tension out of her body and show her that you are there for her.
Once you are done you help her back to your bed and you lay next to her.
Her acl scar is visible to you so you go directly to it and give it a few kisses. Alexia flinches at your touch but relaxed when you continue.
You give her more and more kisses.
“ Would you like to retry that thing we did the other day? I still have only a few hours left.”
She smiles at your request so you take off your robe.
“ Si . Doctora. She whispers.

Ooh! Maybe a Luke x reader where it’s an unexpected pregnancy? She holds off telling him cause she’s afraid of his reaction, and accidentally tells Jack first.
She had no idea she was with child until her latest doctor's appointment where they made her take a test before she could be prescribed her new medication. One second she is worry-free and excited to get lunch with her boyfriend after her appointment and all of a sudden the thought of doing anything makes her sick.
“We know from your blood work you are pregnant but unfortunately you will have to go up to the 7th floor to make an appointment with an ob-gyn.” and y/n is still very much in shock and just shakes her head yes. Walking out of the doctor's hands shaking “What the fuck am I going to do.”
I can't tell Luke I'm pregnant, what if he leaves, what if this tears us apart, what if we are bad parents, what if I am ruining his career? All these what-ifs with nobody to pull her out of it.
She makes it to the spot where they agreed to meet for lunch “Hi baby how are you feeling?” Luke asked, taking in her pale face and shaking frame “Did everything go okay? You don't look too good.”
Pulling herself from her thoughts “Yeah um I-they had to take some blood so I'm a little shaky that's all.”
“Well, we should probably eat then!” He says it with a big smile, happy to see his girlfriend after just a few hours apart. and she couldn't be the one to wipe the smile off of his face so she decided to not bring up what the doctor had just told her.
3 weeks later y/n is now 11 weeks pregnant and has just about all of the early stage symptoms. Her first appointment with her ob-gyn is next week and she is terrified. Luke is starting to notice some changes in her too. She is more distant, and emotional this morning. He caught her throwing up after breakfast and when she was done she acted as if she had been caught doing something bad.
“Let's get you to bed sweet girl, you need some rest.” y/n can't tell if it is the fear, the guilt or the baby growing inside of her but she feels like she is about to throw up the very little food she has been able to keep down. “ you must have caught what jack had last week,” Luke says covering her up
And it is that exact reason Jack was home early from practice 3 days later to find his brother's girlfriend passed out on the floor in the middle of the apartment. And is sitting with her in the emergency room till Luke can switch with him. All is fine until the doctor walks into her room “Hi my name is doctor brown this is Emma she will be taking notes for me while we talk”
pulling out her stethoscope to do a plus measurement test “So what are we in here for today?” before y/n can say anything Jack says it for her “She was passed out on the floor of our apartment.” the doctor nodes her head “In your charts, it says you are in the early stages of pregnancy. Do you know how far along you are?”
the room goes dead silent “The reason I say that is because it is normal to be dizzy during the first few weeks but if it is causing you to faint we definitely want to check in with your OB to make sure mom and baby are doing ok.” y/n can feel the tears fill her eyes this was not happening right now
“ I'm assuming you are Dad?” the doctor says to Jack who looks just as pale as she did when she found out “Um n-no no that would be my brother” he says looking at y/n who looks like she might have a mental breakdown at any second
“Oh I'm sorry um well from what I am seeing everything looks good but we still want to do an ultrasound just to cover all our bases. We will have someone come in just a few minutes to get that done for you,” she says, pumping some hand sanitizer into her hands “My only suggestions would be lots of rest and to drink lots of water and if everything is all good with the ultrasound you should be out of here pretty soon.” be for leaving me to fix this mess alone.
“ Did you know?” Jack asked and all y/n could manage to do was sob into her hands and shake her head yes “Does he know?” she shook her head no “Oh y/n” he said as if she was a lost puppy coming up to hug her tight while she let it all go “I don't want him to leave me.”
She was full-on sobbing “What, why would you think that?” “ I am ruining his life!” Jack pulled away to get a good look at the girl he saw as a little sister breaking down in his arms “Hey it takes two to tango and it's not fair to him for you to say that when he doesn't even know.” y/n hadn't thought about how unfair it was to judge Luke for a reaction she didn't know he was going to have
“ I'm scared; every woman in my life has done it alone. I know what it looks like and I can't do it.”
Jack is rubbing her back trying to soothe her as best as he can. “Luke is nothing like those guys ok and if he did ever turn out to be one of those guys you know me and Quinn would be right by your side as you kick his ass.” y/n laughed a little at that “ but you keeping this from him is going to break his heart.
Let me know if y'all want Luke's reaction if I keep writing right now it is only going to get worse. I also love doing y'all requests. And again grammar spelling and all of the above don't exist here.💋💋

You’re back?! 😃 YAAAAAY!! 😁
May I please request headcanons for the Sparda boys reacting to their actress girlfriend (who’s portraying a scorned lover) getting injured while filming and she finds out she’s pregnant afterwards?
YES I AM BACK YEEEHEEEHEEEHEE! As the saying goes, Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. I also ended up writing V, too, out of habit. Enjoy.
Sparda boys + V x Actress!Reader getting injured while filming headcannons
¤ Dante ¤
-He heard about your dramatic role and didn't think much of it. Actors will do as actors are paid to do.
-Then he discovered you got injured during filming, actually injured, as in crying and screaming, tears pouring down your cheeks.
-Dante practically flew all the way to the studio, shoving aside medical personel and your panicking director at the same time.
-He didn't even wait for you to answer his very loud "Are you alright?!" And just whisked you off to the hospital, ignoring all the shouting people on set, wondering where this scruffy guy was going with their leading actress.
-He got you into the ER, where the doctor did a thorough X-ray, but thankfully, there was nothing broken or severely damaged, just a mild concussion.
-The doctor did inform the two of you that during his scan, he discovered you were pregnant. This was a huge, but happy shock for Dante, who decided to repeat the information to you later, as you'd fallen asleep a little before the doctor broke the news.
■ Vergil ■
-Vergil insisted upon watching you film, not because he wanted a behind-the-scenes experience, but because he feared for your safety.
-It's a good thing he was there, else no one would have come to your rescue when you received that concussion.
-Vergil was on his feet and at your side faster than the crew could blink, ignoring the director's angry shouting and carting you out of there.
-He immediately took you to the nearest hospital and waited aggressively as the doctors scanned you.
-The doctors were glad to report that it was simply a concussion, nothing more, but also had some unexpected news. You were pregnant, Vergil was the father.
-Naturally, Vergil was given a great jumpscare by this, but felt pride and excitement soon bloom in his chest. He will not abandon this kid like he did with Nero, that's for sure.
□ Nero □
-Nero was on his feet and running at top speed all the way to the filming location as soon as he heard you were hurt.
-One of your frightened assistants made the call, thinking that out of all people, your boyfriend deserved to know.
-Nero was so mad he almost Triggered by the time he entered the set, only to find you sitting dazed and hurt in a chair, attended to by several frightened medics.
-Nero let them do their jobs, then checked in on you to make sure you were alright.
-You didn't feel okay at all; your head hurt and you were generally disoriented and confused, so Nero took you to the hospital, where the doctors told him you only had a concussion--oh, and that you were pregnant too.
-Nero was not at all prepared for that, but hey, having a kid around would be fun.
● V ●
-V decided to surprise you on set, but ended up receiving a nasty shock himself.
-You had been injured while filming a fight scene, and had suffered some sort of head damage.
-V was so nervous and afraid something permanent had happened to you, he was literally trembling as you were rushed to the hospital.
-The doctors confirmed that you had suffered a concussion and that no permanent damage had been inflicted, but you'd need a lot of rest.
-Another interesting surprise was that you were pregnant. Their tests figured this out.
-V was thrilled and scared all at the same time. Never did he expect to have so many astonishing discoveries delivered unto him in one day.

howdy! i did a thing!
tw: medical procedures
i think i've mentioned this before on here but i've been having stomach issues for years (i legit dry heave after every meal. and when i get nervous/any strong emotion. it's so annoying) and i finally got my doctor to refer me over to a gastroenterologist. so! after a 15 minute visit in november, i was scheduled for a Upper Endoscopy, which happened earlier today at a hospital!
now, i've been lucky enough to never be admitted to the hospital before, so this was a first for me. i was scared shitless. that and it was cold, so i couldn't stop trembling LMAO
anyway! i had to go under for a few hours and it was the weirdest experience of my life. and also had some funny bits lol.
when they first hooked me up to a heart monitor, my heart rate Would Not Go Down. it wouldn't fall under 120. the nurse was like 'deep breaths' and i wanted to laugh bc i am an Anxious Person. 120 was as low as it was gonna get LOL. it'd always spike when someone new entered the room too, which was the funniest thing. the person who came to help with my IV was like 'are you okay'? yeah, i was okay. just nervous and scared lol. the IV guy was so nice and even tho he had trouble finding my vein, he only stabbed me once. thank you IV guy.
when the anesthesiologist came in, it was so funny too.
anesthesiologist: do you have any anxiety or depression
me: yes
anesthesiologist: ...one or the other?
me: oh! whoops, both. sorry about that.
and then came the time that they actually put me under. it was so weird. the doctor hadn't even finished saying 'you might feel a little burning' when i just clonked out. the whole world started bubbling and i went 'oh this is weird' and bam, i was asleep. granted i think only having 3 hours of sleep on me helped LMAO
i ended up coming to in recovery! and fairly quickly too, i think they were just finished moving the bed to the spot when i started talking even if my throat was sore. which was also another funny interaction in my opinion LMAO
me, still mildly out of it: is it over?
nurse: it is. you just rest up and then we'll move you to another room.
me: my mom is in the waiting room, can she come in?
nurse: i'm afraid not, sweetie.
me: okay. thank you for taking care of me
nurse: you're welcome. would you like a blanket?
me: yes please, thank you.
let it be known that i am a polite camper!! look at me, using my manners LMAOO
idk how long i actually spent in recovery since i was still mildly out of it and i didn't have my watch or phone on me. they wheeled me out into another recovery room with a heated chair and plopped me down and then got me apple juice, which i was hella stoked about. they then called my mom and she walked into the room, but at this point i was much more lucid and happily eating a graham cracker.
me, looking at my mom who's looking for the room i'm in: oh! ma! hello!!
mom, hearing me and walking over: ay mija! what did they do to you? you're all pale!
me: really? i feel fine though
mom: yes really, you're pale!
me: hey at least i'm awake and conscious enough to tell you how to get out the parking lot
mom: you're right
and then i got discharged, but had to wait a little bit bc my mom got lost inside the hospital and had just made it to the car when they sat me on the wheelchair (a wheelchair!! pushed by a nurse!!! idk i was just very surprised bc i felt like i would walk it on my own and i know it was policy but huh!!) and then we went home at around 9. for context i was at the hospital since 6am, and the last time i was able to check time was at 7:20-ish, so i was out a solid hour and a half.
and then when we got home i crashed and then ate some soup.
this experience was weird. going under was an interesting experience. i hope i never have to do that ever again LMAO.
#sam rambles#sam's adventures#they actually ended up doing a biopsy as well#so i'm in mild discomfort but since i ate i drank some pain meds#recovery time was really quick! and that means i get to help my mom out tomorrow#which is what we were worried about#cuz then she'd have to prep christmas dinner all alone

“We know the blood isn’t Two Brains. We've seen it happen before.” Jenkins replied with a shrug. “It still doesn’t hurt to have you two checked out.” Henry gave a shrug. They did make a fair point. Plus he was still shaken by earlier events. He wasn’t afraid of his boyfriend at all, but it was still a frightening experience nonetheless. Dr. Two Brains gave a nod. “Alright. You can look at Henry first while I go change Hugh.” The mad scientist dictated to the man. “Of course I’ll check on Henry while you get changed.” Hugh was grateful for Two Brains’ instructions. With the other three going out, it would give him some private time alone with Dr. Jekyll. Hugh was stunned when he felt the same thing with Henry as he felt with Robert much earlier. This was more than a strange coincidence. Did they both have some type of supernatural affliction he wasn’t familiar with? Maybe he could ask Dr. Jekyll about HJ7 and see if the man had any reaction towards it. Soon Archie, Patricia, and Jenkins left to go clean up the murder and dispose of the body. Before they left, each of them shot Henry a strange look. Henry hadn’t noticed it as he was still reeling from previous events. Two Brains was already in another room, getting ready to take a shower and change clothes. Edward though was aware of the strange looks the others were giving Henry. This confused him as he was supposed to be the suspicious one, not Jekyll. The henchmen got Henry a folding chair for him to sit on while Hugh examined him. Henry thanked them and let Hugh get to work. Henry and Hyde were surprised to see Hugh not pulling out any medical equipment. They were even further stunned when Hugh’s hands began to glow after he began touching Henry. Henry was fascinated by this. Did Dr. Mann have some unique super powers? “May ah ask how you are examining me health?” Henry inquired in a polite tone. “It’s a natural ability that I have. My species come from a medical planet. We are all basically alien doctors.” Hugh responded, not looking up at Henry. Henry looked flabbergasted. “You’re an alien doctor? That’s amazing! Are all of your species humanoid in appearance or is this a disguise? Do ye have the knowledge and abilities to heal any ailment? Why are ye e’re on Earth? Did ye tell Robert about your abilities when ye met him?” Henry’s eyes glinted and his expression was nearly manic. His Hyde side was beginning to show. Surprisingly, Hugh did not pay attention to his expression as he continued to examine Henry. His face scrunched up with some kind of frustration. It looked like he was digging around, looking for something and hadn’t found it yet. “I came to this planet to get away from my people because they are too cheery for my taste. I am capable of helping any dominant species from any planet. I am not capable of healing species that have not been discovered by my people. For instance, I am unfamiliar with the biology and medical aspects of the supernatural. Patricia has been teaching me about them. Also I did not tell your friend about my alien nature. I am only telling you because Dr. Two Brains loves you and trusts you.” Hugh explained in a professional but restrained tone. Henry’s manic expression fell and was replaced with a concerned frown. He finally was registering Hugh’s frustrated demeanor. “Is there something wrong?” Henry asked in a worried tone. Hugh let out a deep sigh and removed his hands from Henry. He then looked at the doctor with such seriousness and concern that it made both Jekyll and Hyde grow even more worried. “Dr. Jekyll, I am greatly concerned about your health. My scans of your body show that you have normal health for any human, but my doctor instincts are screaming that there is something terribly wrong about you. It’s not just you I’m afraid. I also have the same problem with your friend Dr. Robert Lanyon when I met him earlier today. Now, I must ask you two serious questions and please answer honestly. Do you or Dr. Lanyon have any supernatural afflictions and what is HJ7?” @unhingedexperimenter
Though someone this Miss Ito did know Henry Jekyll. Did his brother's new boyfriend get this woman to look into him? If so, why didn't this man just ask Dr.Two-Brains about himself? This raised more questions than it answered. Maybe Henry didn't have the courage to look into his brother after he gave him a little 'friendly' talk. Yet the thinly veiled threats Victor had made shouldn't have been enough to get the teacher looking into Dr.Two-Brains. There was also the fact that Henry had no idea that Victor could find out who was hacking. Perhaps the man was intelligent enough to have the heat on someone else just in case they were found out, but he didn't seem like the type to do so. Especially to someone he had entrusted The Society to. Victor was going to have to get a few agents to take a little trip to check out why they decided to hack like they did. Maybe Robert Lanyon had someone to do with Miss Itos hacking. It would be expected when the man's father had been murdered. Perhaps he wanted to make sure that Henry was safe. Maybe this man was protecting Henry from someone who was threatening him. This could've had the culprit retaliate against the doctor by going after Henry or Robert could be responsible for his own father's murder and for Mr. Carew's attempted murder. The reason both Mr. Hyde and Henry left could be because Robert was threatening one and framing the other. Victor felt a headache coming on. For now, he was going to find out exactly where Robert was. If he wanted to take over The Society, he would've easily done so. Yet he didn't, instead only oversaw important business. He couldn't scratch any of his theories out just yet. He didn't know what was going on, but he was going to find out. He didn't realize that Eris had finally gotten home. He didn't notice the sound of the apartment door opening and closing. “Victor, are you okay? You look like you're stressed about something.” He expressed his concern, brows furrowed. “Eris! I'm fine. I was just overthinking some things.” Eris went over to Victor and placed a kiss on his temple. “Get some rest, my sweet. You'll be able to figure things out better with fresh eyes.” Victor smiled at his boyfriend. “You're right. I'll take a nap. If you'll join me.” Eris smiled at that. He found Victor endearing. The toymaker closed his laptop. Meanwhile in another part of the city, two people were arguing. “Must you stalk these people? I would rather not have the police sniffing around if they take legal action.” The woman shook her head. “It is necessary. I must save that girl from that horrid man. Who knows what he could do to them. I'm doing what is right.” The blond man shook his head. “You admitted that you were interested in our plan.” Calvin frowned at that. “I didn't do anything too crazy. I promise.” Athena muttered under her breath. Athena began to pace a bit. She wanted Dr.Two-Brains to break and admit who he is. “You're making me dizzy, cousin.”
Athena gave a weak glare towards Calvin's rudeness. "You know I can't help it. I haven't been the same after what that demon did to me!" Athena snapped back. Calvin merely huffed. Deep down, he couldn't help but feel some intimidation from the mouse man, especially when he knew what that abomination was capable of. At first, Calvin was shocked to hear what the man did to his cousin. He had always viewed Steven, or Gene, or whatever it called himself, as a sniveling worm with goody moral ethics. He never thought that the man was capable of doing something that heinous, even with his paternal instincts heightened. Things made much more sense to Calvin once he learned of his former coworker's family background. "Very well. Continue with your plans. I have other matters to attend to." Calvin exclaimed in a haughty tone, waving off Athena's anger. Athena gave him a suspicious look. "What are you planning that is more important than my mission?" She inquired. "Well why you have been playing vigilante stalker to a babysitter and her charge, I have been looking into the reason for the Mad Science League's sudden movement here." Calvin explained. Athena looked surprised at that. "Adrian Barton is here?" The B.E.A.W labs' leader has expressed interest in the mysterious Mad Science League. A small group of scientists lead by a self proclaimed immortal man whose made it his mission to fight against tyranny and corruption of the higher classes. Adrian Barton and his associates had proven too slippery for capture due to the man's chaotic and unpredictable movements. Athena was curious and confused as to why he came here of all places. "We don't know why he is here or what business he has, but for some reason he has made himself more open in public though he has maintained a cautious guard. I last saw him talking with Professor Doohickey, though I highly doubt the reason he came to this city was to help the man's predicament." Calvin answered as if he seemed to understand what his cousin was thinking. "Do you think it has something to do with the murder of Mr. Hastie Lanyon?" Athena asked as she recalled hearing about the murder. Calvin shook his head. "I doubt Barton was behind that. He has a clear hatred for the rich and elite, but he would have been more subtle in killing that man, actually making it look like a robbery in progress that went bad. There is another reason why Mr. Barton is here. One in which I intend to find out. So hopefully your antics won't interfere in my mission. Good day Athena." Soon Calvin walked away, leaving the deranged woman to her own thoughts and delusions. "Blimey! Those cleaners know how to clean out goop stains. It looks brand new." Hyde exclaimed in a joyous tone once he received his outfit from Rachel. "Yep. It appears people getting their clothes ruined by goop is a common occurrence around here. So they developed a new way to remove the stains and residue even thought it takes a lot of time. It's definitely well worth it. I must say." Rachel replied with agreement. Hyde ginned widely at his clean outfit. He then looked back towards Rachel. "So, anything happened while ah was gone?" Hyde inquired. Rachel quickly shook her head. "Not really. Like I said, we waited a long time at the cleaners. Also Wordgirl showed up trying to stop a robbery caused by Lady Redundant Woman. She gave a wave to Amber before she flew off. Amber got a little fussy on the way home, but it was likely due to us being out for so long. She's fine now." Rachel explained. Hyde nodded but the usually grinning blonde had a serious expression as he thought back to what happened and what Whiskers admitted to him. "Did Wordgirl seem okay to ye?" Hyde inquired. Rachel looked confused by his question and expression. "She seemed alright to me. Why do you ask?" Rachel was surprised to hear Hyde express genuine concern for anyone that wasn't Amber, herself, or one of the lodgers. Hyde let out a sigh and proceeded to explain what happened today with Two Brains and his sister. @unhingedexperimenter

If hospital is where Y/n ended up, it means her addiction got really bad. She decides to fix herself in the order to help Rafe, but will he appreciate that?
Part 1 here
The reader pronouns: she/her
Pairing: Rafe Cameron x kook!reader
Words count: 5k
Warnings: drugs, self destructive behavior, 'bad' words, a bit of violence and angst, not proofread
I did our girl Y/n dirty in the previous part so here I'm giving her a redemption arc. To be honest I think I did a good job with this fic, it might be my best work so far. I'm sorry, I'm really proud of it.
This fanfic contains spoilers of season 2, although the plot is just a background for this fic.
‿︵‿︵ʚ˚̣̣̣͙ɞ・❉・ ʚ˚̣̣̣͙ɞ‿︵‿︵
His guardian angel part 2
Y/n's life was in downward spiral. She almost died due to a cocaine overdose, but what was more important to her, she had lost Rafe. The police got him, which meant Barry must've betrayed him. Y/n blamed herself for it, she should have gone with them.
The girl sat up on the bed. Looking around, she could tell she was definitely in a hospital. The sun was shining so bright that day, Y/n had to squint her eyes. She tried to get up from the bed, but pain made it impossible. Starting with a headache, her whole body was in a flu-like pain.
Y/n's gaze suddenly shifted to the door when someone walked in. The doctor. She had long, brown hair tied up in a high ponytail. The glasses on her face made her look smart and experienced, but Y/n knew not to trust anybody in a situation like this, in a place like this.
"I see you're awake," the woman said, taking a seat on a chair next to the bed. "I'm doctor Katherine Riley. Do you know where you are?"
"A hospital." Y/n answered quietly.
"And what's your name?"
"Y/n Y/l/n."
"Do you realize why you're here?"
Y/n sat in silence, she didn't wanna speak, afraid of saying the wrong thing. Her (y/e/c) eyes kept observing the doctor.
"You overdosed," the woman continued, "and I would like you to tell me what drugs did you take."
With a shaky hand, Y/n moved a strand of her (y/h/c) hair behind her ear. "Coke. I did coke. Am I in trouble? Did you call the police?"
"No. There weren't any factors that would qualify you to be turned in to the hands of the police."
After Y/n nodded, the room went silent. Seeing that the girl had nothing to say, the doctor continued. "And now you have to tell me how did you come into the contact with the drugs."
Y/n thought before speaking. She didn't want to tell the truth. "I don't remember, I think I bought it at a party a while ago from a random dude. It was a one time thing, I just wanted to check it out." She lied.
Sure, telling the truth would mean Barry would be in trouble and Y/n would like that after he betrayed Rafe, but at the same time the truth would bring trouble to her. And Y/n had enough of problems already.
But the woman could see right through her. "Don't lie to me, Y/n. I know your parents, they told me you are addicted."
"Why do you ask then? And for your information, I am not addicted."
The woman gave a pitiful look at the girl. She felt truly sorry for her. Katherine knew that if it wasn't for Rafe, Y/n wouldn't have ever gotten into drugs. Although both of these young people were just really lost in life.
"I just hope you know that prolonged use of drugs can cause-"
"I am not addicted, goddamnit! Can I go home?!"
The doctor sighed. "Yes, I'll bring you a Discharge Against Medical Advice paper to sign. Wait a moment."
When the doctor left the room, Y/n was alone with her thoughts. She didn't even know what day was it, she didn't recall the woman mentioning it. How long was it since Rafe got arrested? There was no TV in the room and Y/n didn't seem to have her phone nearby.
Rafe. Rafe, Rafe, Rafe, that was all that Y/n's head seemed to be able to think about currently. The girl's thoughts were inadequate to the situation, she should worry about herself - she could have died.
And then the door of the room opened again, but it wasn't the doctor walking in. To Y/n's surprise, it was the boy she had been just thinking about.
"Rafe?" Y/n asked with a very noticeable relief in her voice. "You're not in jail."
Rafe's eyes were red, as if he was crying, but he managed to send Y/n a smile. When he was in jail for that very short period of time, he had a lot of time to think. And every thought he had seemed to lead to Y/n.
In his head, Rafe discussed the kiss him and Y/n had the last time they saw each other. Along memories of that moment, a strange feeling appeared in Rafe, something he hadn't known before. It wasn't his first kiss, but it was definitely the first time he had fallen in love.
"I'm not in jail." Rafe confirmed. He sounded tired, but not physically tried. Rather mentally drained.
The state Rafe was in worried Y/n. "What happened?"
Before speaking, Rafe sat down on Y/n's bed. He put his hand on the girl's knee and lightly squeezed it. "My dad is gone."
"Gone?" Y/n felt confused, gone had so many meanings. "Like, he took the blame and ran away?"
A sad frown was on Rafe's face as he shook his head. "No," he paused, "like he blew himself up on our boat and left a video of him taking the blame."
A gasp left the girl's mouth. She couldn't believe it the first few seconds. "I'm so sorry, you must feel awful right now."
Y/n put her arms around Rafe. The embrace wasn't tight, she was too weak for that, but feeling her closeness gave Rafe some sort of reassurance.
"That's not all." The boy continued. "Cameron Development is in debt. Huge debt."
Y/n pulled away. "Do you need help? My parents could lend you some money."
There were times when Rafe borrowed money from Y/n. It was usually because he owed Barry money for coke. Y/n didn't have a stable job, she used to steal from her parents and Rafe knew that by 'my parents could lend you some money' she meant 'I could steal it from them'.
"Y/n, the debt is 1.7 million dollars." Rafe admitted. "And we don't have much time to pay it off."
Y/n was speechless, it was really a huge debt. Thankfully the doctor walked into the room again before the silence got awkward.
The woman eyed Rafe. "Who let you in?"
"There was this one lady who...and she..." Rafe stuttered, trying to come up with a good explanation.
"I'm afraid you should go. She was just about to exit, you can wait for her outside."
Rafe nodded and walked out of the room, leaving Y/n with the doctor.
The woman passed a paper to Y/n. It was saying that she decides to leave the hospital and realizes she shouldn't have done that so early. Y/n signed that without hesitation and walked out after changing from hospital clothes to her normal clothes.
"Do you need a ride?" Rafe asked when him and Y/n were next to his car.
"That would be nice," the girl smiled, "thank you."
The both of them got into the car. It wasn't a long time ride, but that was more comfortable for Y/n than walking on her feet. The weather was beautiful, but too warm for her to walk in full sun after she had almost died.
"Are you sure it was a good idea to leave?"
The question surprised Y/n. She didn't think Rafe would care about it.
"Yeah, why would I wanna waste time in hospital? How much time have I even spent there?"
"Uhh, a day? Two days?" Rafe guessed as he wasn't sure, he slightly lost the track of time. "Kelce told me you overdosed the day I was arrested. They let me out yesterday morning, late morning. I wanted to sort out the whole debt thing with Rose before coming here."
"What are you gonna do now?" Y/n targeted the subject of the conversation at Rafe's problem. "With the debt, I mean."
A sigh left Rafe's mouth. "I don't know. We'll see about that."
Did he really not know? Or didn't he just wanna tell Y/n his plan? Maybe he just thought it's better for her if he keeps her out of this.
‿︵‿︵ʚ˚̣̣̣͙ɞ・❉・ ʚ˚̣̣̣͙ɞ‿︵‿︵
Just as Y/n expected, her parents were furious. She came home and spent about an hour listening to them grumble about how much trouble Rafe put her in. They said her overdose is his fault, but of course she didn't want to believe it.
"You have to stop seeing him." Y/m/n stated.
Then Y/d/n added, "and you will."
But Y/n's stubbornness didn't let her agree to that rule. "I will keep seeing him. I don't care, I love him!"
Y/d/n scoffed angrily. He couldn't stand how blinded Y/n is. Whether she was blinded because she really loved Rafe or because he manipulated her, this had to have an end.
"You're going to rehab."
Those words echoed in the girl's ears. Her jaw dropped, she didn't want to believe it. They couldn't just send her to rehab.
"I'm an adult, I can decide for myself."
"Honey, it's either this," Y/m/n's voice was less angry now, "or we'll have to kick you out and disown you. It's your choice."
Y/n's jaw clenched, she was hesitating, she almost agreed. Her nervousness was visible. After a moment of silence, she spoke, "I have to think about it."
Y/d/n nodded. "You have time until evening."
Y/n shot her father a nervous stare. She stood up from a chair she was sitting on and walked to the door.
Y/m/n followed Y/n to the door. Sure, both of the parents were disappointed by Y/n, but it didn't change the fact that she was still their child.
"Really do think about it," Y/m/n whispered, "dad and I understand that if we want you to change, you have to want it too."
As Y/n stepped a foot outside the house, she looked at her mother. Maybe the woman wasn't lying, maybe they were truly concerned.
"Can I borrow your car?" Y/n asked, ignoring what her mother had just said.
"Don't crash it," the woman passed her car keys to the girl.
Y/m/n shook her head as she watched her daughter drive away.
‿︵‿︵ʚ˚̣̣̣͙ɞ・❉・ ʚ˚̣̣̣͙ɞ‿︵‿︵
It wasn't very expected to have Y/n come over at the Cameron mansion, but neither was it unexpected.
Rafe at some point wished the girl would come over, but he didn't want to invite her as to not come off as needy. He just really missed her.
"Rafe told me what happened," Y/n said when Rose opened the door to let her in. "My condolences, I'm sorry for your loss."
Y/n cringed internally at her own words. She supposed that was what people usually say to women who lost their husbands, but it sounded weird to Y/n.
"Ward did what he thought was right." Rose wondered, rather to herself than to Y/n, and then added, "Rafe told me what happened with you."
This was embarrassing, knowing other people knew what happened. Y/n lowered her eyes.
"Yeah, it was kinda messed up," the girl admitted, "that's why I came here."
Rose raised her eyebrow. "Why did you come here? Of course I don't mind that, but...why?"
"My parents want me to go to rehab. I need to know what Rafe thinks about it."
A small scoff of amusement left Rose's mouth. "You're going to ask a drug addict whether you should go to rehab?" When Y/n didn't answer, the woman continued. "Y/n, we all notice your feelings for that boy, but your decisions can't depend on him."
Rose walked Y/n to the living room and gestured her to sit on the sofa. Y/n did it hesitantly, she didn't come there to talk to Rafe's stepmother.
The woman took a seat next to the girl. "You care about him. Until recently, I thought it's one-sided, but he freaked out when he found out you're in hospital."
A weird feeling appeared inside Y/n. Happiness? Relief? She wouldn't find the right words to describe it, but it was good to know Rafe cared about her.
Y/n didn't talk, letting Rose continue. The woman was getting somewhere with those words.
"What I'm trying to say is...go to rehab. For Rafe. Ward and I were telling him to quit drugs for so long, you might actually have an effect on him. If you quit, Rafe might as well."
Y/n didn't realize it could have been just another one of Rose's manipulation techniques. However, she did that with good intentions. This time.
"Fine, I'll do that. Where is Rafe?"
"He's in his room."
Y/n nodded and headed to the direction of the stairs. Before the girl even stepped her foot on the stairs, Rafe walked downstairs.
"Oh," Rafe said, "didn't expect you here."
He looked surprised, but happy at the same time. Y/n swore she could even see a very small smile on his face.
"I need to tell you something." Y/n announced.
She felt anxious, because she didn't know how will Rafe reacts. Or rather she did know how will he react and his possible reaction made the girl anxious.
Y/n took a deep breath and spoke as she exhaled, "I decided to go to rehab."
Rafe's mouth opened. What shall he say? Good for you? Congratulations? Or 'I don't want you to go'? Of course she would come back, but not very soon.
Y/n was Rafe's only real friend. She was more than a friend, but whoever she was to him - he had just her. Not Kelce, not Topper, not some random girls Rafe met at parties. Y/n, his Y/n. He didn't know if he would be okay if she left him, even if only for a few weeks.
So he asked, "what?"
Y/n frowned. What did he mean by 'what'? And why was the tone of his voice so dark out of a sudden? He sounded almost aggressive, as if he was upset with Y/n for wanting to get clean.
"I'll quit drugs," Y/n smiled.
"Why?" He didn't want to lose her. In his opinion, people who went to rehab were getting brainwashed there.
The girl's smile was replaced by an annoyed expression. "What do you mean why? Because I almost fucking died, Rafe!"
The boy scoffed. "So you're just going to leave me?"
Rose walked closer. She stood next to Y/n and told her, "don't let him manipulate you."
Y/n looked at the woman and nodded. Then, she turned her gaze back to Rafe. "I will come back."
"They'll brainwash you, you won't...you won't love me anymore." Rafe had been damaged a lot the past few days. Firstly, his father died and now Y/n was going to leave. "And I will still love you."
Y/n's jaw dropped. She gestured her hand in a random movement, not knowing what to say.
Rose decided to speak for Y/n. "If she gets clean, you will too. You'll do it for Y/n if you love her."
"Promise me that." Y/n added. It was all she managed to come up with. "Promise me if I get clean, you'll too."
Rafe gulped nervously, shifting his gaze from Y/n to Rose and then back to Y/n. Some kind of panic was visible in his eyes.
"I'm not promising you shit," he spat, "leave me the fuck alone."
Y/n felt million invisible knives stabbing her right in the heart. A minute earlier Rafe was afraid of her leaving him and now he told her to actually do that.
Rafe rushed to the door. Before he walked out of the house, he shouted, "fuck you, Rose! And fuck you, Y/n! And fuck all of your fucking mind games you play on me!"
Seeing how hurt Y/n looked, Rose reassuringly rubbed the girl's arm.
Y/n couldn't stand the pain, it was even worse compared to what she felt a few days before when the police caught Rafe.
He had just said he loved her, why would he act like this then? Why would he hurt Y/n if he loved her? It didn't make any sense to Y/n.
‿︵‿︵ʚ˚̣̣̣͙ɞ・❉・ ʚ˚̣̣̣͙ɞ‿︵‿︵
It took Y/n 60 days. Y/n spent 60 long days in rehab, each day longer than the one before. At first it was hell, it even made Y/n ask herself why did she agree to that. God knows how many times she questioned if it was really a good idea.
But it was. Y/n realized that quitting cocaine was the best decision she could have made. The only downside of it was that she hadn't have any contact with Rafe nor any other of her friends. Despite that, Rafe's house wasn't the first place Y/n visited after coming back.
"I ain't seen you in a while, Bonnie. Your Clyde said you went to rehab."
Barry. The last time Y/n talked to him was the day Rafe got arrested. Also the day Y/n overdosed.
"That's true," Y/n confirmed, walking inside the trailer, "I've just got back."
"Seeing you here means they didn't do a great job, did they?" He laughed.
"Not here for the drugs." She had to stay strong. Knowing that she could just buy coke right now didn't help, but there was a reason why Y/n wanted to stay sober. Rafe.
"Country club ain't here either."
"Good," Y/n paused, "I don't want you to sell him anything anymore."
Barry raised his eyebrows and let out a quiet chuckle. "You're lucky I like you both. Rafe needs help and if you feel capable of getting him outta this shit, goodluck."
Y/n slightly opened her mouth, she was prepared to argue, because she was sure Barry wouldn't agree. The girl narrowed her eyes at the man.
"And you're okay with it?" A question came out of her mouth.
Barry leaned on the kitchen counter behind him, his hands on the edge of the surface. "You and Rafe aren't just people who buy, used to buy, shit from me, okay?" He hesitated to keep talking, but did it anyways, "I don't particularly dislike any of you, so even if it means losing two clients...I support your decisions."
Now this was a confession that left Y/n speechless. Barry was one of the last people she would expect to hear something like this from.
Since Y/n didn't talk, Barry continued, "and I hope you know that what I did, 'helping' Rafe get arrested, was for his own good."
Y/n nodded her head.
To be honest, Y/n used to not understand why would it be for Rafe's own good, she hated Barry for what he did. But during her stay in rehab, Y/n understood that was a way to help Rafe. Harsh one, but still.
Thankfully, now Y/n was there to help him. And she promised herself she would get him out of his addiction.
Barry walked closer to Y/n, "in that case, it was nice to make deals with you," he extended his hand to the girl.
She took his hand and shook it, "yeah. Let me know if Rafe comes here and tries to buy drugs from you."
"Will do."
‿︵‿︵ʚ˚̣̣̣͙ɞ・❉・ ʚ˚̣̣̣͙ɞ‿︵‿︵
The moment Rafe saw Y/n at the doorstep of his house, he looked happier than Y/n had ever seen him. At first he didn't talk, he only put her in a tight embrace where she could hear how fast his heart was beating.
"I missed you," Rafe muttered as he placed a kiss on Y/n's head. "Don't ever leave me like this again."
When the lovers pulled away from each other, the girl hesitated to speak. Of course she wouldn't tell Rafe that she told Barry to not sell him anymore drugs. But there was a thing she had to tell Rafe and felt strong enough to do it.
"I missed you too," she smiled at him and paused for a few seconds, "but I will have to leave if you don't quit drugs."
Rafe scoffed, the expression on his face changed almost immediately. "I knew that, I knew they're gonna brainwash you."
"What? Rafe, I went there to stop taking drugs. All my effort will waste, I know I will start doing them again if I'm with you!" Y/n felt like a different person, a better person, who wasn't afraid to speak her mind. She wasn't afraid of raising her voice at Rafe anymore.
"I'm sure we can discuss it, yeah?" Rafe asked, gesturing Y/n to walk inside, "compromise?"
Y/n was walked by Rafe to the kitchen. The whole house was empty, they were the only ones there. They sat by the table.
Y/n spoke. "We have two options, Rafe. It's either you quit drugs...or I leave you. I really don't like the second option." She looked directly into the boy's eyes.
The boy thought about it. He put his hands on the table. "What if I'll do them when you're not around?"
It sounded like a joke, but it wasn't. Rafe meant it. He loved Y/n, he truly did, but he couldn't promise her to quit drugs. Rafe didn't want to make promises he couldn't keep.
"I don't want to be the witness of you ruining your health anymore." Y/n stated.
Rafe ran his hands through his hair nervously. He was very tense. "I need to think about it," he stood up, "wait a moment, I'll be back soon."
Y/n watched the boy she loved walk upstairs and then followed him. She knew what he was going to do and she didn't want to let him do it.
The girl walked quietly all the way to Rafe's room. The sun began to set, making his tall shadow peek out from the room to the hallway. Rafe crouched by his nightstand.
"I'm not letting you do this!"
Y/n ran up to him, grabbing his shoulders to pull him away. He stood up, being extremely close to her.
Rafe had anger in his eyes, so much anger Y/n thought it turned his eyes a darker shade. He was scary and unpredictable, but Y/n wasn't afraid of him.
Y/n looked at the white lines on the surface of the nightstand. With one quick move of a hand, the girl wiped the coke off of the nightstand, grabbing the ziplock bag with her other hand.
"Give it back!" Rafe demanded, trying to rip the little bag out of Y/n's grip. "Give it back, Y/n!"
Rafe grabbed Y/n's arm very tightly, the veins on his forearm were popping out.
"This fucking hurts, Rafe!" Y/n shouted.
Rafe only tightened his already tight grip, pulling Y/n closer to him. He looked into her eyes and ordered in a low whisper, "then be a good girl and give me back my drugs."
"Fine!" Y/n threw the bag somewhere on the floor and ripped her arm out of Rafe's hand. "Continue wasting your fucking life, but don't force me to watch it."
Something broke in Rafe when he saw Y/n's eyes water up to eventually let out a stream of tears.
"I fucking hate you, Rafe Cameron." Y/n spat with an enormous amount of pain in her voice.
Y/n gave Rafe one last look, one filled with disappointment and sadness. She wanted to avoid that, she wanted to avoid having to leave Rafe, but now it seemed to be necessary.
"No, wait, Y/n, please don't leave me," Rafe begged, trying to stop the girl.
"This can't work out if you won't wanna quit drugs, Rafe."
Y/n walked down the stairs, she didn't even try to stop crying, it was impossible for her. Rafe didn't follow her, he stayed in his room. He was angry, but not with Y/n. Rafe was angry with himself for letting her leave. He chose drugs over her, he really did.
On her way out Y/n almost bumped into Sarah. Y/n just really didn't look at where she walked, her eyes were on the floor. Sarah and Wheezie were just entering the house.
"Y/n!" Sarah exclaimed. "You're back! How was it?"
Sarah's expression changed quickly when Y/n looked at her. Wheezie was concerned as well. She had always liked Y/n and was always the first person to scold Rafe after he messed something up and made Y/n sad.
"It was okay," Y/n replied, "I'm two months clean," she chuckled. Or rather tried to.
"Why are you crying?" Wheezie asked. "I mean, what did Rafe do? Again..."
Just a second after she asked the question there were a loud, "fuck!" and a thud coming from upstairs. From Rafe's room, to be precise.
Y/n shook her head. "Let's say it's better if we stay out of each other's lives."
Not waiting for the girls to say anything, Y/n walked outside. It was colder, the weather was changing. To keep herself warm, Y/n wrapped her arms around her and walked home in a quick pace.
‿︵‿︵ʚ˚̣̣̣͙ɞ・❉・ ʚ˚̣̣̣͙ɞ‿︵‿︵
Sadness overwhelmed Y/n. When she got back home, all she wanted to do was sit in her room and watch Netflix. Tears had dried, but a bruise was starting to form where Rafe's hand grabbed Y/n.
Y/m/n walked into Y/n's room with a cup of hot chocolate.
"Did you calm down?" The woman asked, passing the cup to her daughter.
Y/n nodded. "I guess. I still feel awful though."
"You did the right thing. If Rafe can't respect your decision, he should stay out of your life."
As Y/n took a sip from the cup, someone rang the doorbell. She and Y/m/n looked at each other, they didn't expect a guest and Y/d/n was away for work.
Y/m/n insisted she will go open the door, but Y/n followed her after turning off the TV. She stood in a place that allowed her to eavesdrop and not get caught.
Before the guest could say anything, Y/m/n spoke, "oh no, I don't want to see you here. You hurt Y/n, you're a bad influence. She spent so much energy on fixing herself, I can't let you ruin it."
So it was Rafe.
If Y/n peaked her head from around the wall, she would see that Y/m/n tried to close the door, but Rafe didn't let her, putting his foot between the door and the doorframe.
"I came here to apologize." He explained.
Hope once again filled Y/n's heart, sticking all the broken pieces back together like glue.
"I don't want to see you anywhere near my daughter. If you want a restraining order, I can make that happen."
"Please, just give me a chance."
"You had too many chances, Rafe. You never learnt from your mistakes."
Maybe he was truly sorry. Y/n wanted to believe he changed his mind. She decided to step in to the conversation.
"Mom, I wanna talk to him." She announced.
"Are you sure?" The woman asked. "You're too soft on him, he doesn't deserve you."
"I can handle a conversation."
Y/m/n walked away to a different room, leaving the two young people alone. Y/n took Rafe's hand and walked him to her room.
"So, what do you have to say?" She asked, closing the door.
Rafe sat on Y/n's bed. "I'm sorry for how I acted earlier. You know I didn't mean that."
Now, was he being honest, or was he trying to manipulate Y/n? Either way, Y/n sat next to him. She decided to have that conversation, so she had to face it.
"No, Rafe, you meant it all," she blinked a few times, feeling tears building up in her eyes again, "it's gonna be a really big bruise, you know?"
Rafe's harsh gaze seemed to soften up. He gently took Y/n's hands in his. "I will get clean, for you. I was planning it anyways."
"Do you promise that?" Y/n had a hopeful look in her eyes. She didn't feel like crying anymore.
"Yeah, yeah...I promise. I'll be better, I'll be a better man for you."
Y/n looked down at her lap where hers and Rafe's hands were. Rafe rubbed the girl's hands with his thumbs.
"I love you," he continued, "I would do anything for you, Y/n. I've never known a person stronger than you. You've been dealing with me for so long, I can quit coke for you."
Y/n shifted her eyes back to Rafe. "I love you too. We can go through this together, yeah?" Her eyes traveled to his lips.
The both of them were thinking about the same thing, so just as if they read each other's mind - their lips connected.
At first, the kiss consisted of soft and slow brushes, almost as if they were asking for each other's permission. Y/n slid her hands under Rafe's t-shirt, feeling his defined abs. A moment later Rafe rested his hands on Y/n's waist and that was when the kiss turned into more of a make out session. Now the kisses were deep, hungry. The lovers kissed as if they were trying to catch up for all the times they could've kissed in the past.
Suddenly, the make out session was interrupted by Y/m/n knocking on the door.
"Everything okay in there?" She asked. Her voice sounded worried, but she had reasons to worry. "You've been quiet for a while."
Y/n pulled away from Rafe with a smile on her face. "Yeah, perfectly okay!" She reassured.
Y/n didn't lie. Everything was sorted out, everything was perfectly okay and it was going to stay that way. Y/n would make sure Rafe quits his addiction, she wanted to support him in every step of this journey.
They were going to have ups and downs, but Y/n knew there is nothing they can't go through together. They went through a lot already, which only confirmed that belief. There was nothing that could separate them and as long Rafe had Y/n, he knew everything was going to be perfectly good.
At some point Rafe would regret all the trouble he caused Y/n, but maybe this was what fate had planned for them from the beginning. Maybe that was exactly what Rafe needed to realize Y/n truly was his guardian angel.
Being a guardian angel to someone like Rafe wasn't easy. Sometimes it was tough, but it was worth it. Nobody loved Y/n like Rafe, nobody understood her better than him. And there was no one better for Rafe than Y/n, as he himself thought. They completed each other.
Y/n was like an angel with a tiny bit of a devil in her, while Rafe was like a devil who deep down wanted to be good. And Y/n was there to bring the good in Rafe out to the surface.

26: “ I’m dying. ” with Bones??
Promise Me
Summary: You catch an unknown alien disease that is spreading through your body rapidly without much hope. Word Count: 1231 Warning: Mention of disease, mention of death, no medical knowledge or reasoning whatsoever. It's fiction just go with it. A/N: Listen I almost went with something just cute and fun and light but then this came to mind so this is what you get. Think of it as payback for that Din fic! Hope everyone enjoys some angst!
It started as just a light cough, really nothing that was even bothering you. You were working on some old parts in engineering and assumed that you had just inhaled too much of the dust, really nothing to worry about.
However, the coughing only seems to get worse, and you soon found it hard to even breathe. You thought maybe trying to take a sip of water would help but it only caused a coughing fit that you couldn’t seem to stop. Luckily another engineer heard the commission when you fell over as you tried to catch your breath.
Before you knew it a med team was in front of you offering oxygen through a mask. It seemed to help a little, giving you the chance to calm your breathing down, but it still felt as though your throat was almost fully closed.
As you were rushed into Medbay you saw Leonard out of the corner of your eye, you could see the tension in his body. Protocol didn’t allow him to treat you, but you had full faith in Dr. M’Benga.
“We’re gonna have to put you under, it’ll help to relax your throat and lungs.” He calmly informed you as you continued to cough. You were soon injected with a hypo and immediately felt the effects.
You woke up feeling worse than you ever had in your life, like a truck had run you over and then backed up and ran you over again. Maybe even just an entire starship hitting you would feel better than this.
“Hey you’re awake!” You heard the relief in Leonard’s voice. “How’d you feel?”
“Like death personified”
“You’re well enough to be your dramatic self I see.” He chucked, but you didn’t miss the concern and worry that was laced in his voice.
“What’s wrong with me?” You asked, hesitantly.
“You seemed to have picked up an alien virus, we’re not sure exactly what it is.” He told you as gently as he could.
“Why am I not quarantined then?” You asked, concerned for the rest of the crew.
“We already determined it isn’t contagious. You seemed to have got it right from the source.” He assured you.
“But I haven’t been on any away missions lately.”
“We know. M’Benga thinks it has just been dormant in your system for a while, and something must have triggered it. We have no idea where you got it from.” He told you, you could tell that it was definitely bad news.
You wanted to continue to ask him more questions but you also knew that he technically wasn’t even your doctor and M’Benga would be in shortly so you only nodded in response.
“Do you mind if I step out? I need to check on some of the tests that they ran, I just didn’t want to leave your side,” Len asked you softly. You chuckled, you were sure he hadn’t known what to do with himself, between wanting to never leave you but also wanting to work, you’re sure he had been antsy.
“Go, I will be here when you’re done.” You told him, ushering him away.
It wasn’t long after that M’Benga had came in to check on you. “Good to see you awake,” He smiled as you saw you slightly prompt up on the bed. “How are you feeling?”
“Like someone ran me over with a shuttle.” You told him truthfully, though it didn’t cause him to laugh as you had expected.
“I am assuming Leonard told you a little about what’s going on.” He asked you.
“Yes, said I contracted an alien virus and that you don’t know where I got it from.” You relayed back to him what you knew.
“Yes, that’s true.” He nodded, “What I am sure he left out was how bad it truly is. As your doctor I think it’s only fair if you know the whole truth.”
“Okay,” You nodded, not sure what to say. You had known it was bad, Leonard’s body language had given it away, but that only caused you more unease.
“The virus is attacking your organs, and it is moving rapidly. We are working on slowing down it’s trajectory while we figure out how to stop it and then we can work on reversing any damage, but I have to be honest it is moving much quicker than we had hoped.” He told you with a solomon voice.
“How long,” You asked, trying to keep your voice calm.
“I’m afraid only a few days until you won’t be able to function, or be alert, and then after that only a few more days at most.” He informed you, “I am so sorry, but know that we are doing everything in our power to get this figured out. It is all hands on deck until we get you back on your feet.”
You nodded, not sure you would be able to speak if you tried. You were trying to wrap your head around only having a few days left. While you were left to process a lot of information M’Benga ran a few tests and did everything he could to make sure you were comfortable.
The next few hours of your day were spent with many visitors, you could tell everyone was trying to avoid the obvious that this may be the last time you see them, but it was still on everyones, including yours mind.
You were relieved when Leonard finally made his way back in the room. He had poked his head in a few times to see you but not long since you had had so many other visitors.
“You must be exhausted.” Leonard pointed out as you tried to keep your eyes open.
“Very,” You admitted, “Can you come lay with me?”
“I don’t think we’ll both fit comfortably,”
“I don’t care. I just want you close.” You told him. The idea that you may only have one more day with Leonard was dawning on you.
“Okay,” He sighed, carefully crawling into the bed with you. He made sure that he wasn’t hurting you and you in turn curled into him as much as you could.
“I um, Leonard, I think we need to talk about the next few days.” You break the comfortable silence.
“What do you mean?” He asked as he ran his fingers gently along your arm.
“I just, I want you to know how much I love you, but I also need you not to blame yourself and I need you to promise me you wont shut everyone out. I need to know that you’ll be okay.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Leonard said defiantly.
“Leonard. I am dying.” You sighed, “I just need to know you’ll be okay.”
“No one is dying on my watch.”
“Len,”
“No, if I can bring Jim back from that much radiation then, the hell if I can’t cure an alien disease.” Leonard said, his hold tightly on you ever so slightly.
“But if you can’t. I need you to promise me you won’t blame yourself.” You told him, “Please just promise me that.”
“It won’t come to that.” He said desperately.
“Promise me anyway.”
“Okay, I promise, love.” Once you heard those magic words, you were able to let yourself drift off to sleep in his arms for what was possibly the last time.

Hi, i saw your post about tinnitus from February and i am going through that right now too, it began two weeks ago and i cant concentrate on anything. it sucks. do you mind sharing what ended up happening or helping in your case?
Hiya, I'm so sorry that you have to go through this, but this isn't the end (when it always feels like it is), so trust me on this. This is going to be A LOT to read, but please don't skip anything. Brace yourself.
Consult an ENT specialist.
This is, of course, the scary part, and it needs to be done first. I stalled and put off visiting an ENT for the longest time, leading me to not take things seriously. I continued to abuse my ears by using headphones (which I still do sometimes, and it's not something that I'm proud of). When I visited the doctor, she checked my ears through a physical examination and said that my ears were physiologically normal. When she performed a crude test to check my hearing (for possible hearing loss), I passed two out of three of the tests, one of which I couldn't hear the sound when she placed the tuning fork on the top of my head. She tried it thrice because I was really anxious the whole time and thought that I was not paying attention - but turns out I couldn't hear the sound that is normally transmitted through the skull. She then confirmed that I have tinnitus, which is the only important part. Of course, she told me to visit an audiologist and get an audiometric test (which is done in a really professional setting with headphones and leads that would be placed all over your head to determine if you have any kind of hearing loss and if yes, then to what extent).
Remember, the rest of the steps, although safe to take, is not entirely necessary, in my opinion. The tests would be expensive and multiple visits to the ENT would be required and ultimately you're left with what almost everyone tells you: Tinnitus can't be cured.
I didn't take the audiometric test. I've watched a shit ton of videos about people and how they've dealt with Tinnitus and all of them have said that any and every kind of medication is useless. The ringing doesn't stop. Which is quite true. So all you need to do is just go to an ENT for an official diagnosis of Tinnitus. The most important thing is to tell you that your ears are not internally damaged. Please, I emphasize, don't skip this step, because if the delicate structures of your ears are damaged (which could be due to any kind of physical trauma), you'd have to undergo treatment for that.
It takes time to accept it.
You've been experiencing it for two weeks and you say that you can't concentrate on anything, which is normal. Let me just tell you that. I don't want to sugar coat things and make you feel better instantly because when I was told sweet things, it only made it so much more difficult for me to overcome. The only assurance I can give you is that it does get better, over time. The first few months - yes, months - will be very difficult for you. I still struggle, if I'm being honest. I feel afraid and anxious (which is why I had visited a doctor for my anxiety because my health became so bad due to the anxiety to the point where I passed out thrice over the course of 1 week). And...it's okay. You will feel afraid. You will feel nervous. You will feel anxious. But friend, the only way out is to give yourself the time to accept it.
Dear, there is no running away. I may be young, but I've faced my own fair deal of shit. I'm exhausted. I'm tired of running away. The only thing I can offer to you is... don't stop fighting. Don't run away, run towards your problem.
How to make your mind learn to accept it:
This is going to sound crazy, but do exactly as I say. I watched this in a youtube video where a man explained how he accepted the fact that he has tinnitus and has actually been healed, but I couldn't find that video after the first time I watched it. Here's what you need to do:
Sit in a room, alone. And turn off the fan/ air-conditioner (basically anything that is a source of sound). This will sound tormenting, let me warn you. People who've just begun to experience ringing in their ears will do anything and everything to try and cover or muffle the sound of the ringing. Be it turning the fan on to the highest speed, keeping the AC on so that the hum of the machine would cover the sound of the ringing, play music in the background while sleeping.
But remember what I said? Don't run away, run towards your problems. Don't try to cover up the sound, accept it.
Sit tight, and let the ringing happen. This will be torture for the first ten minutes, but tell your mind that you will endure it. You will hear nothing but the ringing, and it will be loud. You need to train your mind, and it is capable of being trained.
You must've heard of these things: Sit in a room that smells bad and you will get used to the smell. Hang upside down and after a few hours, the world will look straight and not upside down. This is quite true. Your mind has an excellent capability of adjusting to the situations it's been put into. So this is how you train your mind.
Let yourself listen to the sound of the ringing. I don't even know how, but this worked for me. And remember, it's okay to feel weak during this time of training. I've spent hours crying and sobbing and banging my hands over my ears to muffle the sound of the ringing, and it's okay to express these emotions. It's okay to break down.
Many people say that the ringing is actually a defense mechanism. Your brain thinks it's in a state of danger and the very common 'fight-or-flight' response kicks in. What you need to do while you sit in absolute silence is tell your brain this: "I'm not in danger. I'm safe. There's nothing wrong. You can relax."
It sounds stupid, I know. But it works. I don't know how, but it works. Remember, your brain doesn't always need to perceive danger visually to feel the need to trigger a fight-or-flight response. There are various types of stressors like physical, chemical, biological, and even emotional stressors. When there is an imbalance in your body, your brain thinks something is wrong. In the case of tinnitus, exposure to loud sounds for a long time can put a lot of stress on the delicate structures of your ears, and makes your brain begin to 'fight'.
So as I've mentioned earlier, you need to train your mind into thinking that it doesn't need to fight. That it's okay to calm down. Even if it feels stupid, talk to yourself. Your mind will thank you later.
What happens after this?
Well, your brain accepts the ringing as a part of you. And what happens when something occurs that is perceived as a part of you? Nothing. It doesn't feel the need to fight back. It might not even make sense, but the sound of the ringing drastically lowers. Sometimes you won't even hear it.
When the ringing starts, you'll automatically think, "Oh shit, I can hear it." This is normal. I've faced this almost 500 times a day when I initially began to experience the symptoms. But when you go through this period of training, as soon as this thought occurs to you, tell yourself to accept it.
"I can hear the ringing. It's okay. Nothing is wrong. You don't need to fight."
Tell yourself this. I really really hope you believe me, the ringing does get lesser. You will get better.
Focus on your diet and exercise.
This...if I'm being brutally honest, does not help with tinnitus. It's not even related. You're doing this for your mental health. Tinnitus is such an issue, that the symptoms never stop. You hear the ringing 24/7 and there's not even a moment of relief. I've literally begged God to just give me a moment of peace, a moment of absolute silence without this stupid ringing, but it doesn't happen. No one understands the trauma. No one.
This stress can lead to a lot of anxiety. As I've mentioned before, anxiety can take a toll on your life in ways you've never thought possible.
So, focusing on your diet, eating healthy, and regularly and frequently exercising is something that you're doing for yourself. It's an investment that will yield profits later that you'll really thank yourself for.
Meditation and Prayer:
If you're not a spiritual person, meditation should help you as well. Faith is something that can work wonders. If you are, remember that God has given you this battle to fight for a reason. You'll be placed in situations all alone and that will make you remember that you need no one but God. God is capable of healing. God is capable of comforting. God loves.
Have faith that God can and will heal you. Because this helped me.
~
Dear friend, I want you to know that it does get better. I can't stop telling you this. It's only been a few months for me but the ringing has already reduced quite a bit to the point where I can study and write without even being bothered by the sound.
You're going to be okay.
You will be okay.
And why okay? You'll be better than that. You won't just survive, you'll thrive.
I believe in you.
If you ever feel alone, message me. We can talk about anything and everything. Don't hesitate.

CEO!Jungkook Doctor!OC
smut, slight angst, fluff
this is just a two chapter drabble, i just want to separate two ideas apart but they're connected so...off we go, hoping someone would read this...
unplanned pregnancy, fuck buddies, married au
warnings: raw sex, some curse words, cockwarming, consensual intercourse,*pls remind me if i missed something.
part 2
Chapter 1:
word count: 1,347 words
-----
Y/N and Jungkook’s been married for 2 years now, it isn’t the typical type of marriage though. It was that “arranged marriage” type of shit the both of you didn’t even know you’ll experience when they just saw those in books and movies on the screen. Mind you, it should've just lasted for a year. That is why both of you agreed even though you both hesitated, it was for the benefit of each other’s worlds so why not? Not until that one instance that you two decided to use each other for pleasure. No intentions of settling and falling for the other.
-
“Hmm, JK?” you hummed as you asked for your husband’s attention while the two of you were sitting at the sofa in the living room of your shared home. “Yes?” Jungkook replied curiously as you normally talked to him formally. “ Can I kiss you?” you blurted out making the lad in front of you choke with his own saliva due to shock. “Why would you even ask me that, we didn’t even kiss for real at our wedding” Jungkook laughed even though he was amused and holding himself to kiss and devour you right there and then. “It’s just that I think I’m nearing my period, you know hormones, and your lips look so soft though.” you honestly told him.
You then gave up with the thought and just went to the fridge to get some snacks to fill you up, while choosing upon the snacks you both stocked up, you were startled when your body was abruptly turned by no other than your husband. Jungkook claimed your lips and kicked the door of the fridge causing some bottles to shake. You immediately responded by the time you adjusted because no one knows how you needed someone to release your accumulated desire.
Jungkook grabbed your ass and without any thinking you jumped to him, wrapping your legs to his hips. Jungkook broke the kiss, “Should we continue this upstairs?” He asked. You nodded and while his hands were still on your thighs, he carried you through the stairs while you’re doing your job of pressing your breasts against his chest to heaten the session more.
The two of you arrived in your bedroom, still kissing. “Do we let anything happen tonight?” Jungkook asked like he was asking for permission. You nodded and told him that the two of you won’t lose anything if you do.
You then found yourself moaning his name for hours in the middle of the night. The both of you didn’t even know how to stop to the point that you two slept with his shaft inside you. By the time you two woke up because of work you even shared a steaming shower. Aware of the fact that you two did that mainly because of lust, disregarding the fact that the two of you are married.
Work for the both of you became exhausting each day, Jungkook works as the Chairman of their companies and you work as the Medical Director of the hospitals your family owns. The businesses mentioned are the main cause of your marriage.
The both of you looks forward to the end of the day to release stress through sex, orgasms and other lustful things. You two decided to act as “fuck buddies” for each other just to be safe and clean of diseases you might get if you fuck strangers. You’re updated at your injectables that’s why you won’t worry about being fucked raw.
---
“Uh-Jungkooo-oh shit!” you moaned out of pleasure while Jungkook digs in deep of your cunt. “Do you want me deeper?” He asked. “Yes, please!” You shouted as he held on to your shoulders for more support as he really did fucked you deeper. You switched positions and now you’re on top of him. “Insert it, babe” Jungkook told you as you held onto his dick and positioned it at your entrance. “Ah-fuck!” he hissed as you buried his cock inside your dripping pussy. He held onto your breasts as you jumped the shit out of you to pleasure yourself and the man under you. “I’m near Jungkook, do you want us to do it at the same time?” You asked haphazardly while catching your breath. “Yes, Y/N, just hang in there, I’m near too.” He told you and more thrusts later you were filled by both of your warm juices. You threw yourself in the bed while hot liquids were still dripping out of you.
You reached for your phone and almost threw it when you saw the time, it’s almost 8 in the morning, you didn’t even notice because of the pleasure of your morning session with your husband now back to sleeping naked, tired of what the two of you just did. You were running late for some check-ups you needed to do at the Pediatrics.
Pediatrics is your specialty field even though you didn’t imagine having kids for yourself because of the responsibilities you can’t even think of how to handle. You grabbed your keys and your coat as you finished preparing yourself. Cheeks still flustered with that after-sex glow, you drove to the hospital leaving your snoring husband knowing that he doesn’t have a certain time for work.
---
You finished your rounds and check-ups by 11 a.m, you decided to go home early to catch up some sleep because you fucking woke up at 6:30 a.m just to find yourself moaning and cumming multiple times.
Before you even grabbed your coat, your secretary knocked telling you that you have a schedule for the OB’s. You nodded and set your coat and your bag aside as you went to the nearby office of the doctor you’re looking for. You asked her secretary and she immediately let you inside. Dr. Park displayed a face of shock when she saw you. “Do you need anything, Dr. Y/L/N?” she asked you curiously not knowing your main agenda. “Huh? I have a schedule for my injectables today, am I missing something?” You asked flabbergasted. “I thought you'd quitted getting injectable contraceptives because you were supposed to have them last week?” she said, leaving you in a peculiar expression. “Can’t I get them today?” you asked while the thoughts of you being filled with Jungkook’s cum almost everyday the past few weeks surrounding your head making you quite nervous and paranoid. “I’m afraid you can’t, as I look into your records you can get them the first week of the next month if you want.” she said leaving you astonished. “Oh, I see, I’ll just come back by then.” you said immediately leaving her office, dashing into yours upset or what not, you’re fucking confused right now.
You drove to some store removing the thoughts of the information you accumulated earlier to unwind, shop for a little and grab some take-out foods to comfort you somehow. Carrying the shopping bags you got and a pizza meal you went home just to find your god-like husband in his sweats and a plain shirt far from his everyday designer coat-clad. You greeted him while he grabbed the things on your hand to aid you. After he settled those he grabbed your ass and bit your lower-lip. “Luckily I didn’t have work errands today, I was so tired of what we did early in the morning.” he told you. “So you just slept in?” you asked and he agreed. The both of you shared pizza and watched a movie and you ended up sucking him in, completely forgetting your paranoid thoughts, you found yourself cockwarming him while you watch a movie.
Weeks passed you noticed your clothes are tight-fitting, you often fall short on your breath and gets tired easily. “Fuck” you thought, you were no dumb not to realize all of those symptoms if you must say. The test in front of you said it is positive so you just confirmed for yourself. Not wanting anyone to know yet, not even your husband, you just went to hide the plastic strip.

Sweet Tooth - One Shot

This ia really cute, sweet, datey fic, so I hope you enjoy! Feedback and reblogs are super helpful! (not proofread) Consider buying me a coffee if you’re able!
Warnings: fluff and smut (the word molested is used, nothing bad happens or has happened to the main characters, it’s just mentioned during a conversation)
Pairing: Harry x OC
Words: 18K
“Dad, I can go by myself.” Abby groans to her father.
“I have to make sure everything gets billed correctly. Your dentist said only two are impacted, so only half is covered my medical and the other half is covered by dental.”
She huffs out a sigh, but nods her head as they enter Tufts Medical Center. Abby was finally getting a consult for her wisdom teeth. Perhaps at the age of twenty she felt a little late to the game for this, but her mouth had only started to hurt a little this past year. She was a little nervous about being knocked out for surgery, but she also just wanted her mouth to feel better. It was the summer before her junior year of college, so now was the perfect time to get it done. Abby and her dad make their way through the building, and get to the floor they need to be on.
“Abigail Simmons.” Her dad says to the receptionist and she nods.
“Someone will be out for her shortly. Did you have her most recent x-rays sent to us?”
“Yes.” Her dad says, and they both go to take a seat.
Abby’s leg was bouncing and she was chewing on her bottom lip. It was just a consult, there was really nothing to be worried about.
“Abigail?” Her eyes widen as she looks over at the person who just said her name. He had a toothy smile and was wearing a set of blue scrubs. She and her father both stand up. “Hi, I’m Harry, you can follow me.” He smiles to the two of them as he leads them to the consult rooms. He gets Abby situated in the dental chair. “Just so you both know, I am a student, but a competent one, which is why one of the other nurses isn’t here, but one of them will come by shortly, and so will the doctor.” He sits down on the stool and wheels over to Abby as he puts his gloves on. “Heard your mouth’s been sore, huh?”
“Y-yeah.”
“She called me at school in tears.” Her dad says and she glares at him.
“College student?” Harry raises an eyebrow and looks back at the computer to review her x-rays. “How old are you?”
“Twenty.” Abby says.
“Your teeth are, like, really straight. Did you have braces?”
“When she was in middle school. She stills wears her retainer.”
Harry and Abby both look at her father and blink. He was really starting to piss her off. She could answer for herself.
“Well, you’ve got a very good girl here, don’t you, Mr. Simmons? Listen, uh, this is going to take a few minutes. I need to look at all of her teeth and confirm the ones that are impacted and if the other two have room or not. There’s another waiting area right over there. I’ll call you back over once the doctor’s here. Would that be alright?”
“It’s just…Abby’s really nervous-“
“Dad, please, I’m fine.”
“Alright.” Her dad sighs. “I’ll be right over there.”
“Bit of a helicopter you have there.” Harry smirks at her.
“Thank you for getting rid of him. I bring myself to the doctor all the time, but for whatever reason he was adamant about coming to this.”
“It’s major surgery I don’t blame him.” Harry grabs a bib to put around Abby. “So, you go by Abby?”
“Mhm.” She blushes as he clips the bib in place and adjusts her hair.
“Is it true, are you nervous?”
“A little…mostly about the surgery, not so much about the rest. I’m not one of those people that’s afraid of the dentist.”
“No worries, love, you’ll be in good hands with us.” He smiles. “I’m gonna put the chair back now, alright?”
“Okay.”
The chair slowly goes back, and he situates a pair of sunglasses onto her before fixing the light over her eyes.
“Could you open up for me as much as you can? I’ll try to be as gentle as possible since I know you’re experiencing a lot of discomfort.”
She nods and opens up wide. She feels his pinkies enter her mouth and feel around her gums. She winces a few times when he brushes up against the back of her mouth. She hears him whisper sorry a few times. Abby tries to focus on anything else. She focuses on how green his eyes are, and how seemingly perfect his skin is. Her mind wanders to how people get skin like that. What’s his routine? How could she get skin as smooth? Does he see a dermatologist regularly?
“Okay, Abby, I’m gonna out the chair back upright, and go grab your dad and the doctor. Hope that didn’t hurt too much.”
“It was fine, thank you.”
Abby’s dad, two nurses, Harry, and the doctor all come over to her to discuss her teeth. She definitely needed all four removed. They settle on a date for her to come back and have the procedure done, and Harry gives her the rundown on how to prep for the surgery.
“We’ll see you in a couple of weeks, Abby.” Harry smiles.
“You’ll be here?”
“You bet.”
Even though she was nervous as fuck to go under, she was almost excited to see the handsome dental student again. At least it was something to look forward to.
//
Abby had an early morning surgery, and she had to stop eating the night before. So she was exhausted and starving, not to mention she was a ball of nerves. Her dad drove her in for the appointment, and assured her he’d be there afterwards.
“Abby?” Harry comes out all scrubbed up and ready to go. She stands up and waves back to her dad before going with him. He brings her over to a consult chair and types on the computer. “Alright, whatcha have for breakfast?”
“N-nothing, I haven’t eaten since dinner last night.”
“Good girl.” He says without looking at her. “And what about a midnight snack?”
“Harry, I haven’t eaten since dinner last night.”
“You remembered my name?” He asks as he turns to her, and she blushes.
“Sort of hard to forget the British guy that told my dad to go sit somewhere else.” She smirks, and it makes him laugh. “Will you be in the operating room?”
“Yup, I’ll be there the whole time. I’m the hand holder.”
“The hand holder?”
“Mhm, while they’re helping you get to sleep I’ll be holding your hand, making sure you’re alright. I also get to put the IV in your arm.”
“Lucky you.” She deadpans and it makes him laugh again.
“What are you in school for?”
“Psychology. I’d like to be the type of doctor that doesn’t have to deal with all this.” She gestures around the room.
“Helping people on a whole other level, I see.” He nods.
The doctor comes over, and she must have gotten asked about four more times if she had eaten breakfast. She gets settled in the chair in the new room where she’d be operated on. She watches as Harry gets the IV in her arm, and then he holds her hand, just like he said he was. He was wearing a mask now, but she could tell he was smiling.
“Don’t worry, Abby, the next time you wake up these nasty teeth will be gone.”
She nods at him and squeezes his hand as they get the oxygen hooked up to her nose. His thumb rubs the back of her hand as a nurse puts the mask over her mouth, and her eyes slowly start to droop. The last image she has is Harry’s hand in hers.
When Abby wakes up, her eyes immediately well up with tears as she looks around the room. She sees her dad sitting in a chair reading a magazine, and she sees the IV still hooked up to her arm. She makes a whining noise and her dad looks over at her.
“Hey, you’re awake.” He smiles. “Everything went really well, honey. You did great.”
After about ten minutes a nurse comes in and takes the IV out. In her daze she tried looking for Harry, but she couldn’t find him. She was so delirious she could barely walk, and her dad had to help her to the car. She just wanted to say thank you to Harry for holding her hand, but she never got the chance.
//
Several years later, Abby had finished her master’s degree in counseling, and just finished up her licensure program. She already had a few different job opportunities lined up. The one she wanted most was at a local university at a counseling center. Being a student in today’s age was tough, and Abby wanted to be someone they could open up to. She had done extremely well in her postgraduate internship, so she had impeccable recommendations. She just needed to narrow things down to what school she wanted to work for, and that ultimately came down to benefits. She ended up going with UMASS Boston. It was a school a lot of her friends attended, so she sort of knew the campus, it was easy enough to get to by train, and the benefits were great.
After getting the first semester under her belt, Abby was feeling confident in what she was doing. She was truly helping students. She’d even be able to go for her PhD for free after she had six months under her belt. With winter break underway, Abby was getting caught up on some self-care, which meant going in for her annual cleaning.
“Hello, this is MidCity General Denstistry, may I please speak with Abigail Simmons?”
“This is she.”
“Hi, Abigail, this is a call to remind you of your appointment this week.”
“Right, Wednesday at 3PM?”
“Correct, and I have to inform you that your usual dentist, Dr. Morgan, has recently retired.”
“Oh…I mean good for her, I just liked her a lot.” Abby chuckles.
“Don’t worry, our new doctor, Dr. Styles, is amazing and everyone’s really like him so far. He’s taking over all of Dr. Morgan’s patients.”
“Okay, that should be fine. See you Wednesday!” Abby hangs up the phone and puts an extra reminder on her phone so she wouldn’t forget.
On Wednesday, she checked in and was brought into the back by a nurse, Marie. She was the dental assistant that would be doing her cleaning, nothing out of the ordinary. Although, Abby was starting to get aggravated because Marie kept sticking the pick into the same tooth in the back of her mouth. She hears Marie sigh.
“Abby, it seems like you may have a cavity. Dr. Styles will be able to confirm it. Let me polish you up, and then I’ll go get him.”
Before Abby has a chance to respond, Marie was already polishing her teeth. She was left to lay back in the chair while Marie went to get Dr. Styles.
“Hello, Miss Simmons.” Abby’s eyes widen when she hears his voice. He sits on a stool and wheels over next to her. “I’m Dr. Styles, nice to meet you.” He extends his hand to her and she takes it. “Mind if I take a quick peak at everything else before I inspect this possible cavity?”
“N-no, go ahead.”
“Thank you, open wide for me.”
She does so, and he sticks his gloved fingers into her mouth, feeling around her gums, and making sure everything’s alright. Next he grabs the tools and does a quick inspection of her overall mouth before poking at the tooth that Marie said was the problem. Abby notices how he hum along to the music playing on the radio. It was almost soothing.
“Okay, I’m gonna hit the button so you can sit up.” He says to her. Marie moves the light, and Abby takes the sunglasses she was given off. Her eyes widen again when she gets a good look at him.
Abby had come into contact with a lot of people in her life since the time she was twenty. It would be odd to remember someone that helped with her oral surgery, but too much was adding up. A man with a British accent, the same green eyes, and he was in the dental profession. She was finally going to get a chance to thank him.
“You have a cavity.” He sighs.
“I’ve never had one in my life.” She shakes her head.
“Happens to the best of us.” Dr. Styles chuckles. “Are you eating a lot of sweets?”
“Um, well, I’m a counselor at UMASS Boston, and I tend to suck on jolly ranchers when I’m meeting with students. Helps remind me to just sit and listen and not interrupt.”
“Ah, that’s a pretty good trick. Maybe try sugar free gum?”
“No, gum gives me a headache.” She shakes her head. “I prefer to suck than to chew.”
“Right.” He swallows. “Maybe try sucking on some mints then?”
“Sure, I can try that.” She smiles at him.
“Good girl.” He smiles back at her. That just sealed the deal it was definitely him. “Marie here will help you set up an appointment so I can take care of this for you.”
“You’ll be doing the procedure?”
“Mhm, you’re stuck with me now…unless you want to switch to another doctor, which I hope you don’t. Hope you’re not missing Dr. Morgan too much.”
“Not as much as I thought, that’s for sure. Um…this may be a weird question, but did you happen to be a student at Tufts Medical Center?”
“I was! It’s where I went after I got my bachelor’s. I can perform oral surgery, but I much prefer doing stuff like this. Can fill a cavity in my sleep. How did you know I went there?”
“I…this is going to sound so weird, but, like, six years ago you…held my hand when I got my wisdom teeth out.” Harry’s eyes widen at that. “Normally I wouldn’t remember someone so well, but…it’s not every day I have a British doctor.”
“Oh, wow, you remember me doing that?”
“Yeah, and we left before I ever got a chance to say thank you for keeping me so calm. So…thanks.” She blushes.
“I wish…I wish I remembered that. They often had me as the hand holder. How nice for our paths to cross again, huh? Promise to be just as good a dentist as I was at holding your hand.”
“That’s all I could hope for.” She smirks, and it makes him chuckle. “Right, well, Marie, please help Miss Simmons set up her appointment with me so we can get this cavity filled.”
“Sure thing, Dr. Styles.” Marie says as she makes a few clicks on the computer.
Just like that he was gone. He had grown into quite the handsome man since she last saw him. Not that he wasn’t before, but he looked more adult now. She wondered how much older he was than her. More importantly, she wondered if he was single.
//
It was about a week later when Abby came in to have her cavity taken care of. Marie was the dental assistant again which brought Abby some comfort. Marie gets her prepped in the chair as they wait for Harry to come into the private room.
“Alright, good morning, Miss Simmons.” He says brightly.
“You can just call me Abby if you want…” She says shyly.
“Okay, Abby, it is. Let’s fill this cavity, yeah?” He sits on the stool and wheels over to her. “Gotta give you a spot of nova cane, but before I do that we have to numb the area a bit, so this little thing that looks like a lollypop is gonna go in.” Abby nods. “Open up for me.” She does so. “Good girl, thank you.” He places the numbing stick inside her mouth and she scrunches her face. “I know, it doesn’t taste very good, sorry.” He stands back up. “I’ll be back in about five minutes.”
True to his word, Harry comes back five minutes later, and takes the numbing stick out of Abby’s mouth. Next he has her open up so he can administer the nova cane. He tells her she might feel a slight pinch, and she accidentally grabs onto his thigh.
“S-sorry.” Abby says as she takes her hand off him. “I may not be afraid of the dentist, but I really don’t like needles.”
Harry and Marie share a glance, and then Harry looks at Abby.
“Marie, would you mind handling the nova cane so I can hold Abby’s hand?”
“Sure thing, Dr. Styles.”
Harry hands the needle to Marie, and then Harry grabs onto Abby’s hand. He smiles softly at her, and she’s able to focus on him and not the needle going into her gums. Marie says it’s all set, so Harry gets back into position with the drill.
“If it hurts, just let me know and we can numb you a bit more.” Harry says to her. “It’ll be over before you know it.”
Abby pinches her eyes closed the second the drill comes into contact with her tooth. Thank god Harry was wearing a mask because he couldn’t help but smile at how cute she looked. Luckily, Abby didn’t suffer too much. The procedure didn’t take too long, and she was sitting upright before she knew it.
“You did great.” Harry smiles at her. “So, that side of your mouth will be numb for a bit. Give it a few hours before you eat anything, avoid hot foods.” Abby just nods her head along, too embarrassed to speak because she knew she would sound stupid. “Have you made your appointment for your next cleaning?” She nods again. “Great, Marie, I’m just gonna go over another few things with Abby, feel free to go on your break.”
“Oh, alright. See you in six months, Abby.” Marie smiles, and leaves the room as Abby waves to her.
“I actually already went over everything with you. I…uh…just wanted her to step out.” Abby’s eyes widen at that. “I was actually wondering, um, if you’d like to go out for coffee sometime…you know, when you can have hot liquids again.” He blushes and so does she. She nods yes at him quickly. “You do? Great, um, can I have your number then?” Abby frantically reaches for the phone in her pocket, unlocks it, and then hands it to Harry so he can add his contact. “I’ll call you in a couple of days so we can set something up, yeah?”
She smiles and nods as she takes her phone back. Her heart was fluttering. She felt like she was in a dream or something. Coffee couldn’t come soon enough.
//
Harry called Abby a couple of days later, just like he said he would, and they agreed upon what coffee shop they should meet up at on Saturday. Her mouth was feeling much better, and she was really excited to see him. She was still in shock that he asked her out in the first place. She thought she’d have to wait another six months to see him again.
He got to the coffee shop first, and decided to wait outside for her. He smiles when he sees her and they step inside.
“It’s on me.” He says. “Get whatever you like.”
“Oh! That’s so nice of you.” Abby blushes. “Thanks.” They each order and grab a table to sit at. It was too cold outside to go for a walk.
“I just want to preface by saying I’ve never asked out a patient before.” Harry says to her.
“So…why ask me out then?”
“I just found it really endearing that you remembered me, and all you wanted to do was say thank you to me for doing something so simple.”
“Harry, I had just turned twenty, I was practically still a kid. I had never gone under or had a surgery before, I was petrified. My dad was just as nervous, you were the only thing that calmed me down.”
“So, that would make you roughly twenty-six now?”
“Yes it would.” She smiles as she takes a sip of her coffee. “How old are you?”
“I’ll be thirty-two next month.” It was an age difference both of them might have been against those years ago, but not now. They were both well into adulthood, had their careers, and had some life experience under their belts. “It’s killing me that I don’t remember you.”
“It’s really okay. You’ve probably seen so many patients. I’m sure years down the line I won’t remember every student I’ve met with.”
“Right, you said you’re a counselor at…?”
“UMASS Boston.”
“And how do you like doing that?”
“I love it, honestly. I feel so bad for these kids, they have so much on their plates, under all this pressure. It’s really brave of them to come ask for help, so I like giving them a safe space. Some meetings are more serious than others, so it’s never boring. I feel like I’m doing something worthwhile.”
“That’s amazing. Feel like I do better talking to people in small spurts, that’s what’s so great about being a dentist. People can’t strike up small talk when you’ve got your fingers in their mouth.” He laughs and so does Abby.
“How long have you been at MidCity for?”
“Like…six months, I think. I like it a lot, everyone’s really nice. Marie’s my favorite assistant, though, sometimes her kids come in and they’re really cute, and her wife bakes the best brownies.”
“She’s usually the one to do my cleanings, I like her a lot too.”
“Can I ask why you chose jolly ranchers to suck on? I mean, how many students are you meeting with? You must go through a ton.”
“I do.” She blushes in embarrassment. “I got them when they were on sale after Halloween…I’m definitely going to try the mints like you said.”
“Good, I’m glad.” He smiles as he takes a bite of his bagel.
“So, how does a doctor such as yourself not already have a girlfriend?”
“Getting right to it, huh?” He smirks and she nods. “Medical school takes up a lot of time, and then when I first started as an intern, I was constantly overworked. I was doing surgeries left and right, I was too exhausted to try and make anything serious work. Then I decided I’d rather be working at a practice. I still do a lot of teeth pulling, but not as much as I was. And now that things have slowed down a bit, I just haven’t met someone I’ve wanted to be serious with.” He shrugs. “What about you?”
“Same thing, sort of.” She giggles. “Grad school was a lot, and then interning was a lot. Now I’m just really settling into my job. I survived the first semester, now I feel like a pro.”
“That’s a good feeling to have. Is your commute long?”
“Not really, I just take the green line to the red and I’m there. Obviously the trains can be unpredictable, but it beats having to pay for a car and car insurance. What about you? Are you in the city, or out in the suburbs.”
“Oh, I’m in the city. I drive to work, though, I’ve got my own parking spot at the back of the building.”
“Well, we can’t all be so special.” She smirks.
“No, I suppose not.” He smirks back at her. “How’s your tooth feel, by the way?”
“Oh, it’s fine, thanks. You’re really good at your job. It was nice of you to hold my hand when Marie did the nova cane.”
“I felt so bad that you were scared.” He reaches across the table and places his hand over hers. “When you grabbed onto me I knew I had to do something.”
“God that was embarrassing. I would have felt so violated if someone did that to me.”
“It’s not like you grabbed my dick, Abby, it’s alright.” He gives her hand a squeeze.
“Right.” She lets out a nervous laugh. “So, do you work a standard Monday through Friday at MidCity, or how does all of that work?”
“Yup, pretty much.” He takes his hand away from hers. “I mean obviously if there’s an emergency we have to cancel appointments, but for the most part we leave spots open for surgeries so people are able to book those easy enough. I usually pop by the cleanings in between cavity fillings and other stuff.”
“What made you want to become a dentist?”
“Well, I knew I wanted to work in the medical field, but selfishly I didn’t want the long hours at hospitals. I don’t have to be on call, like, I don’t have to worry about emergencies in the middle of the night. Not often, anyways.”
“I feel like I would get grossed out looking at teeth all day.” Abby chuckles.
“It’s not as bad as you think. I try to separate the teeth from the person. Like, I was able to give all new teeth to this recovering meth addict. She had this incredible story, and I knew I had to help. She had been sober for five years, but no one would hire her because of her teeth. Now she’s working a corporate job doing great.”
“Oh, wow, that’s amazing.”
“You must have some great stories with your students.”
“Yeah, I’ve really bonded with a few of them. Sometimes they just need someone on their side, you know? A lot of them are first in their family to go to school, so they’re doing a lot on their own.”
“That’s a lot of pressure.”
“You have no idea.”
“Well, it’s good they have a nice person like you to help them.” Harry smiles warmly at her and she smiles back. “Would you, um, would you be interested in going out for dinner some time?”
“I…yeah, I’d love to.” She blinks a couple of times. “I’m free most nights right now because we’re on winter break.”
“You don’t have to go into your office at all?”
“I just answer emails from home.” Abby shrugs.
“Sweet deal.” Harry grins. “So, how would Thursday night work for you?”
“Thursday works great.” She smiles.
They both throw out all of their trash and step out of the coffee shop. They share a gentle hug, and go their separate ways. Harry said he’d call in a couple of days to let her know where he’d be taking her, and she was beyond excited.
//
Friday night, Harry picked Abby up in front of her building. When he saw her, he got out of the car to open the door for her and she giggled.
“That’s a nice coat.” He says to her.
“Thanks, I got it on sale at L.L. Bean back in August. Keeps me nice and warm.”
“Oh, I love shopping there! Once in a while I’ll take the drive up to New Hampshire to go to the actual store to get the really good stuff. The boots I got from there for the winter will last a life time.”
“Yeah, it’s just good quality stuff. I usually get a decent coupon in the mail or online.” She chews her bottom lip. Clearly Harry had a little more money than she did. “Where are we eating?”
“You’ll love it, it’s this nice Italian place at the North End. I remember you said Italian was something you liked when we spoke on the phone.”
Abby smiles at him and he looks at her briefly to smile back. He finds a place to park, somehow, and they walk towards the restaurants. She hadn’t been to the North End in a while since most of the places were expensive. Harry puts his hand on the small of her back as they walk in, and he tells the hostess he has a reservation. She leads them over to a table for two and he pulls out the chair for her.
“So, how’s your week been?” Abby asks him.
“Pretty good, fit this one person with a new tooth, did a couple of crowns. Same old, same old.” He shrugs. “How about you?”
“Good, I did some virtual sessions with some students who are having shitty winter breaks. I went into the office for a team retreat, and then I updated some spread sheets.” She chuckles.
“That’s nice of you to do virtual appointments.”
“It’s all part of the job.”
“Good evening, folks.” A waiter comes over with water and a basket of rolls. “I’m Parker, can I start you off with any drinks or appetizers?”
“Abby, would you care to get a bottle of white for the table?” Harry asks her.
“Oh, sure, that’s be great. Would Pinot Grigio be alright?”
“It’s perfect. A bottle of Piniot Grigio, please.” He looks down at the menu and furrows his brows at the appetizers. “Calamari?” He asks her and she nods. “Calamari, Parker.”
“Sounds great, I’ll be back in a moment with the wine and to take your dinner orders.”
“The calamari here is excellent, it’s lightly fried in peanut oil so it doesn’t feel heavy.”
“What do you recommend for an entrée?”
“Everything’s good. What are you in the mood for?”
Abby looks down at the menu and her eyebrows raise at the prices.
“Maybe just one of these pasta dishes.”
“Don’t do that.”
“What?”
“Don’t get the cheapest thing on the menu. Get whatever you like, it’s my treat.”
“Harry, this is gonna be really expensive.”
“I wouldn’t have brought you here if I couldn’t afford it, please don’t worry about it.”
“O-okay, then…maybe the steak tips with the pan seared peppers.”
“If that’s what you want then you should have it.” Harry smiles. Parker comes over with the bottle of wine, and pours the first two glasses for them. “I’m really glad we could do this tonight.” He grins. “I…found something when I was going through some old things the other day.”
“Oh?” She raises an eyebrow as she sips on her drink.
“It was killing me that I couldn’t remember you, but then it hit me.” He reaches into his back pocket and pulls out a card. “I’ve never been so thankful to be a packrat in my life.” He opens it and smiles. “Dear Harry, I never got a chance to say thank you when you held my hand before my surgery. I figured I’d drop this off when I came in to have my stitches removed. I hope this finds its way to you. You’re going to be a great doctor someday. Sincerely, Abby Simmons.” He smiles at her as he places the card back in his back pocket.
“You…you kept that?”
“It wasn’t often I got cards like that, so I kept it, and once in a while when I needed a pick me up I’d read it. As soon as I re-read it the other day I completely remembered you. I even remembered telling your dad to go sit in the other waiting room.”
“Oh my god.” Abby chuckles. “That was the greatest thing I had ever seen. Think that solidified the crush I had on you.”
“Telling your dad to basically leave you alone?”
“Yeah.” She smirks. “Super hot to see you be so sure of yourself and confident. Plus, he was really pissing me off, talking over me and answering for me.”
“Wow, so I guess I’m the one that away, huh?” He smirks.
“You certainly were. Although, I hadn’t thought about you in quite some time. It’s crazy that you ended up becoming my dentist.”
“Very crazy.” Parker comes over with the calamari and tells the two he’s going to put their orders in now. Harry watches as she sticks her fork into a piece and takes a bite. “You’re really cute, you know that?”
“I’ll take your word for it.” She smiles. “This is really good.”
“I’m glad you like it.”
The rest of the date goes really well. Abby and Harry continued to joke around and flirt. It wasn’t until the check came that she felt a little uncomfortable.
“How much is it?” She asks him nervously.
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” He smirks and slides his card into the slot, letting Parker take it. “Would you like to walk around for a bit, maybe get some dessert by the water?”
“That sounds great, but only if I can pay for dessert.”
“Deal.” He smiles.
Harry holds Abby’s hand as they walk through the little park by the water. Even though it was cold out, it was still a beautiful night. They duck into a gelato place for a little dessert. They decide to split something, which ends up being insanely romantic when Harry lifts his spoon to her lips. She makes a show of it as she takes a bite, licking her lips after and everything. He holds her hand during the drive, and lets her pick the radio station. He gets out and walks her up to the door once they get to her building.
“I had a lot of fun with you tonight.” She says to him.
“Me too.” He steps closer to her. “Do you see a third date in our future?”
“Definitely.” She nods. “Do you like bowling?”
“Love bowling. Are you, um, free Saturday night?”
“I can be.” She smiles. “Pick me up around seven?”
“It’s a date.” He smiles. The two stand there awkwardly for a moment, unsure if they should kiss or not, so instead Harry opens his arms for hug, and she wraps her arms around his neck. She kisses his cheek, and then he kisses hers. “I’ll see you Saturday, Abby.”
“See you Saturday, Harry.”
//
Harry was on cloud nine the next day at work. He couldn’t stop thinking about Abby, her smile, her laugh, the little beauty mark she has under right eye. He thought she was gorgeous, charming, and kind. Normally he’d never get involved with a patient, but he couldn’t help it with her. He thought it was so sweet that she remembered him after all this time, and he felt so relieved that he remembered her.
“You’ve had this dreamy look on your face all week, what’s with you?” Marie asks Harry while they’re eating lunch.
“I…sort of met someone, and we’ve been out a couple times…she’s great.”
“That’s great! Anyone I know?”
“Um…well, you know Abigail Simmons…”
“Of course I know Abby! Oh my god, is that why you asked me to step out of the room when you filled her cavity?!”
“I didn’t wanna ask her out in front of you.”
“Harry, since when do you date patients?” She whispers.
“Normally I wouldn’t, but it turns out I met her a long time ago. When I was a student at Tufts I assisted in removing her wisdom teeth.”
“Oh, wow, that’s incredible.” Marie blinks. “When are you seeing her again?”
“Tomorrow night. We’re going bowling, how fun is that?”
“Should be really fun.” Marie grins. “Look at you, putting yourself out there. Now Leigh and I can stop trying to set you up.”
“I’m excited about her. She’s got such a cool job too. I can’t wait to keep getting to know her.”
//
Since they were going bowling, they could easily just take the train, so Harry takes a cab to Abby’s building Saturday evening. He was wearing a nice pair of jeans and a sweater under his jacket. She comes down the stairs in her long coat, and a Patriots hat on top of her head.
“Hey.” He smiles at her, taking her in for a hug. “How are you?”
“Good.” She smiles up at him. “How are you?”
“Good, great, actually.” He takes her hand and they walk towards the nearest t-stop. They both swipe their Charlie Cards and hop onto the next train.
“I hope you’re okay with candle pins…I’m not good with the big balls.” Abby says to him as they hang onto the same pole of the crowded train.
“I love candle pinning.” He chuckles. “No worries.”
They get to the bowling alley, are given a lane, and get their shoes. Abby takes her hat off and fixes her hair, and then unzips her jacket. She had a pair of jeans on with a red turtleneck. Abby was a short, curvy thing, and Harry absolutely loved it. When Abby first met Harry back when she was twenty, she was a tiny size two, but now she was a comfortable size eight and was fully embracing it. She was healthy, and that was all that mattered.
“Do you want anything to drink? I could get us a pitcher of beer.” Harry says to her as they settle into their lane. “I could get us some pizza too.”
“That sounds great, thanks.” She smiles as she slips her shoes on.
“Be back in a tick.” Harry goes over to the snack bar and gets two slices of pizza and a pitcher of beer. “Here we are.” Harry fills two of the plastic cups up with the beer, and hands one to Abby. “Shall we?”
“Mhm, I already set up the score sheets.” She shows him the large sheet of paper. “Not that I care that much about the score…it’s just fun to keep track.”
Abby bowls first, knocking most of the pins down, and then gets the rest on her second throw. Harry couldn’t help but smile as he watched her to do a little jog and hop as she threw the ball down the lane. He goes up next and immediately gets a strike.
“Woohoo! Go, Harry!” Abby says as she takes a sip of her beer. “I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a strike before.”
“I could show you how if you want.”
“Isn’t it just luck?”
“Nope, it’s all physics.”
“And…you’re good with physics?”
“Had to take it during pre-med, I even tutored for it. Come on, I’ll show you.” Abby gets up and grabs one of the balls. Harry goes behind her, and puts his hand on one of her shoulders, moving her hair so he can speak closer to her ear. “Okay, so what you’re gonna want to do is walk a little closer to the line, swing the ball back, and let it fly.”
Abby turns slightly to look up at him. Her cheeks were flushed. She nods at him, and does exactly what he said to do, and she gets the strike.
“Oh my god!” She squeals and throws her arms around him. “I can’t believe that worked! You’re amazing!” She kisses his cheek.
“You did great! Nice to know you’re good at following directions.” He winks at her and grabs his next ball.
After three rounds of bowling, and two pitchers of beer, they both head out. They take the train back to the stop nearest to Abby’s apartment, and Harry walks her home.
“I had so much fun tonight, Harry.”
“Me too, I’m glad you suggested bowling.” They both stop in front of her steps. “Can I see you again next weekend?”
“I’d like that.”
“Maybe if it’s not too cold we could go ice skating at Frog Pond.”
“Oh, I’d love to do that! I have my own skates and everything.”
“Perfect.” He smiles and steps closer to her. She looks up at him with her big brown eyes. He didn’t think brown eyes as beautiful as hers existed. “Abby, can I kiss you?” He asks softly.
“Yes.” She nods and smiles up at him.
He cups her cheek and leans down to her. His lips press to hers, and he uses is other hand to cup her other cheek. It’s soft and gentle at first, it grows a little needier as she presses her body to his, but she stops him from walking up the stairs. She pulls away first and blushes.
“Um, well, goodnight.” She says to him.
“Yeah, goodnight.” He rubs the back of his neck. He was sorting of hoping she’d invite him up. It was the third date, after all. Maybe she was a fifth date kind of girl, which he had to respect. “I’ll call you at some point during the week. I’ve got a few different surgeries, though, so if you don’t hear from me a lot that’s why.”
“No worries.” She shrugs. “I’m getting ready for the students to return, and I have some meetings to go to, some seminars, so I’ll be busy myself. Wanna just plan for next Saturday?”
“Sounds good to me.” He leans again to kiss her again, and she happily kisses him back.
“Okay, goodnight for real.” She giggles and walks up her steps. She waves goodbye as she goes into her building and he sighs.
Abby sighs happily as she gets into her apartment and squeals. She immediately texts her best friend everything about her date with Harry. She was so excited about him, and couldn’t believe he was actually interested in her.
//
They texted here and there during the week. Abby got a little brave and sent him a mirror selfie of her dressed up for work, and he sent one back of himself in his scrubs ready to go in for surgery. Her jaw nearly dropped when she saw him. She had seen him in scrubs before, but it was ages ago. He filled them out so differently now. Plus, the thought of him being a doctor just did things to her insides that she couldn’t even describe. He thought she looked gorgeous in her pin striped slacks and blouse. He couldn’t but think about how lucky each student was that got to sit and talk with her.
Harry was exhausted by the end of the week. He must have extracted over a dozen teeth, filled a stupid amount of cavities, and put on ten different crowns. He couldn’t wait to see Abby Saturday. He asked her to go to the pond a little earlier in the evening so they could get dinner afterwards. The decided to just meet at the pond. She was easy enough to spot now that he knew what her long coat and Patriots hat looked like.
“Harry.” She smiles when she turns to see him. They hug and share a quick peck on the lips. “Did you catch up on some sleep?”
“I did.” He sighs as they find a bench to sit down on to put on their skates. “Been looking forward to seeing you all week. How’d your seminar go?”
“Oh, it was great! It ended up being more of a training, I have a new certification too.”
“That’s amazing, good for you. I’m constantly going to lectures and stuff to stay up to date. I’ve published a couple of things too to some medical journals.”
“That’s so cool! Once I’ve been at UMASS for six months I can start taking classes for free. I’m gonns go for my doctorate, so hopefully I can start publishing some work too.” They both stand up and make their way into the rink. Abby puts her hand out for Harry’s and he takes it as they start to glide on the ice.
“That’s great that they have a program like that for you.”
“I know! I was super happy when I saw that in the benefits package.”
They skate around the rink a few times, enjoying the music that was playing. Harry guides them over to the side for a little break. He presses her against it, his hands going onto the railing, caging her in. She looks up at him, and he leans in to kiss her. She tugs on his coat to pull him closer, and the kiss deepens slightly. Abby really liked kissing Harry. He always tasted like mint, probably because he was constantly chewing gum, and his lips were insanely soft. She starts smiling and so does he, and he presses his forehead to hers.
“Do you feel like going to eat now?” He says to her.
“Yeah.” She nods.
They end up going to a Mexican restaurant not too far from the pond. They each get margaritas and laugh a lot. Harry talks about what it’s like to extract teeth during a surgery, and Abby asks if people ever want to see their teeth afterwards. He asks Abby how she copes when she has to deal with a heavier situation at work, and she says her little Shih Tzu, Marvin, helps make her day a lot better.
“That’s nice your apartment allows pets.” He says to her.
“Yeah, he’s only, like, nine pounds, if that. He’s so cute, do you wanna see a picture?”
“Of course!” Abby pulls out her phone to show Harry a few pictures of Marvin, and even a selfie she took with him. “He’s so cute, and so are you.”
“Thanks.” She giggles.
“He looks like a little stuffed animal.”
“He really does.”
“Why a Shih Tzu?”
“They’re really smart. They’re tough to train because they’re so stubborn, but once they get a little older they start to listen, and they’re pretty self-sufficient alone during the day. Although, sometimes I sneak him into the office.”
“How old is he?”
“About two. Do you have any pets?”
“Nah, I’m not home enough to take care of anything else. But I love dogs, I think they’re great.”
“Well, maybe at some point you can meet little Marv.”
“I’d like that.”
They square up the tab and Harry walks Abby home once again. They kiss for a while outside her front door. He desperately wanted to feel her tongue on his, but she wouldn’t open her mouth up. His hands squeeze at her hips, and she tugs on his jacket like she had done earlier.
“Well, I better get up inside.” She says against his lips and he hums his response as he continues to kiss her. She giggles into him. “Harry.” She smiles and steps back from him.
“Sorry, I just really like kissing you.”
“I like kissing you too.”
“When can I see you again?”
She takes her phone out to check her calendar.
“Are you free on Friday?” She asks as she furrows her brows at her screen.
“I think so. We could go to dinner, if you like. There’s this really great Chinese place in China Town that I love going to if you’re interested.”
“That sounds great, Harry.” She smiles. “I’m looking forward to it.”
“Maybe…um, maybe we could meet up for lunch, or something at some point during the week.”
“Do you have time for something like that?”
“I’m sure I do. I can look at my calendar and let you know which day works best.”
“Okay.” She nods. “I’d love to meet up for lunch.”
“Great.” He leans in to kiss her again. “Hope you and Marvin have a good night.”
“Oh, we will. He’s probably antsy for me to get up there and give him all the cuddles I can. Text me when you know which day works for lunch.” She smiles and heads inside.
Harry couldn’t believe a little dog was going to be getting all of her cuddles tonight and not him. She was slowly killing him. He respected that she might want to take things slow, but to still not invite him up? He sighs and orders an uber back to his condo, hoping he’ll be able to fall asleep easily, and not stay up thinking about the girl who was slowly creeping her way into his heart.
//
Abby was able to meet up with Harry on Tuesday, but only for a quick walk, which she thought would be a great opportunity for Harry to meet Marvin. She gets his sweater and harness on, leashes him up, and out the door she goes. Harry was standing outside her building, in his scrubs, and a jacket, with two hot chocolates.
“Thank you.” She smiles and takes the warm drink from him. “Harry, this is Marvin.”
“Aw.” He pouts, and squats down to put his hand in front of Marvin’s nose before he pets him. “Nice to meet you little guy.” He looks up at Abby. “He’s even cuter in person.”
“Right? I’m really excited we could get out for a little bit today. He loves when I can take him for a good walk.” Harry stands back up straight and they all start walking. “Were you in surgery today?”
“Yeah, early this morning, and I’ve got another one later this afternoon. Didn’t make much sense for me to put my other clothes back on.”
“You look cute in your scrubs.” Abby says, a blush creeping onto her cheeks.
Harry nudges her and he looks down at Marvin.
“He’s pretty quiet, huh?”
“He was yappy when I first got him, but he’s calmed down a lot. First summer I had him I spent a lot of time training him. Pretty much taught him not to bark unless someone’s trying to break in.”
“You must be good with discipline then.”
“I try to be. Although, I’m more of a fan of positive reinforcement.” They pull to the side as Marvin takes a tinkle near a fire hydrant. “Good boy, Marvin.” She says and gives him a kibble as a treat. “Kibbles are great treats. Can’t get fat off what he normally eats.”
“That’s really smart. Have you, uh, been laying off the jolly ranchers?”
“Oh, I’m sorry, Dr. Styles, I didn’t realize we were in your office.”
“Abby…”
“I’ve been trying to, but I have a horrible sweet tooth. They’re the only candy I really eat. What’s the harm?”
“Your teeth rotting out?”
“Okay, good point. I mean, I haven’t had nearly as many since I’m not really meeting with students right now, and I’ve already gone out and bought a ton of mints for the next semester.”
“Good girl, that’s what I like to hear.”
“What do you say to your male patients?”
“Pardon?”
“It’s just…you say good girl a lot…do you do that with all your female patients, and if so…what do you say to your male patients? Also, I’m an adult woman. Do you say good girl to all adult women?”
“Abby.” Harry chuckles. “I think I’ve only ever said that to you.”
“Oh, fuck off, I bet you say it all the time.”
“I really don’t.”
“Then why me?”
“You’re cute, and I tend to be a flirt sometimes.”
“You consider calling me a good girl flirting?” She stops short and he turns to look at her.
“I do.” He nods, a smirk growing on his lips. “Do you want me to stop saying it to you?”
“N-no.”
“Alright then.” He grins and they continue walking until they get to Marvin’s turn around spot, and make their way back to Abby’s building. “I’m glad we got to meet up for a bit. Still on for Friday night?”
“Definitely.” She goes up on her tip toes to kiss him goodbye and inside she goes. Harry left her with butterflies in her stomach.
//
Harry was really hoping tonight would be the night something more happens between him and Abby. He just wanted to feel her body on his. He drives to her place around seven Friday night, and he waits outside the car for her.
“Hello, beautiful.” He says to her as she steps outside.
“Hey.” She smiles and kisses him. He opens the door for her and he jogs around the other side to get back in. He takes her hand in his as she drives towards China Town. “How was your day?”
“Good, really busy, but good. I tend to get a lot of kids on Fridays since it’s an easy day for them to miss school.”
“I bet the little kids love you.”
“They do, I like being goofy with them.” They get to the restaurant, and are seated. “Do you want to share a few things?”
“Sure, that sounds good.” She smiles. “I hardly ever come out here, how’d you find this place?”
“When I was at Tufts I used to come to China Town all the time since it’s close by. I got sick of eating at all of the same places, so I decided to come around here and branch out. This is obviously nicer, but I like it a lot.” They decide which dishes they want to share, and tell the waitress when she comes over. They both also order a couple of drinks. “The semester’s starting soon, right?”
“Yeah, on Monday, actually.”
“Oh, wow! Do you feel ready?”
“For the most part.” She nods. “The first week is usually quiet, and then I start to get booked out. That’s how it was last semester, anyways. I already have some of my regulars from last semester on my calendar for next week.”
“I bet they’re excited to see you, I know I would be.” He places his hand over hers and gives it a squeeze. “Abby, um, after dinner…I was wondering if you’d like to come back to my place for a bit.”
“Oh, that’s so sweet of you to offer, but I don’t want to leave Marvin for that long.” She takes a sip of her drink. “Another time, though.” She smiles and he nods at that.
A food runner brings their dishes over, and luckily nothing feels awkward, but Harry was sort of hoping that she’d offer to have him over after dinner instead. They both enjoy the food, and share a few laughs before heading back to Harry’s car. When he pulls up to her place they both linger for a moment.
“Thanks again for dinner, Harry, I had a great time.”
“Me too.” He looks at her. “Can I ask you something?” She nods yes at him. “Are you, uh, seeing anyone else? It’s okay if you are, we never said this was exclusive, I guess I’d just like to know.”
“No, I’m not seeing anyone else. I would have told you if I was dating around. Are you seeing anyone else?”
“No.”
“Okay.” She smiles. “Good to know.” She leans across the console to kiss him, and he kisses her back. He turns his body more so he can cup her jaw. “Are you busy tomorrow?”
“I…I don’t think so, I mean, just usual weekend errand type stuff. Might be grabbing drinks with some friends in the evening, why?”
“I was just thinking maybe, um, you could come over for dinner, but if you’re busy-“
“I can cancel. I can get drinks with them any time.”
“Don’t be silly.” She smiles. “We can do it another night. We’ll figure it out. I better get upstairs.” She pecks his lips. “Goodnight.” She gets out of the car, leaving him speechless. He wanted to rip his hair out at this point.
//
“Harry, how things going with that girl you’ve been seeing?” Greg asks him as they sit in a booth at the bar.
“Yeah, you still like her?” Lenny asks.
“Things are going well.” He nods. “But I can’t seem to figure her out. We’ve been out, like, six times and she still hasn’t invited me up to her place. I invited her back to mind last night, and she said she didn’t want to leave her dog alone for long.”
“Have you kissed?” Greg asks.
“Yeah, we’ve kissed plenty of times. We just haven’t done anything else. I mean, we don’t need to jump right into bed, but it’d be nice to do a little more.”
“I get what you’re saying, man.” Lenny says. “Maybe she’s just nervous.”
“I didn’t think I was giving her a reason to be.” Harry sighs. “She invited me over tonight, but I stupidly told her I had plans with you lot.”
“What are you doing with us then?! Go pick up some dessert, and go get your girl!” Greg says.
“I can’t just show up at her place…I’ll look like a stalker. What if she’s not even home?”
“So text her.” Lenny shrugs. “See if she’s around and ask if you can stop by. Tell her you’re at bar in the neighborhood.”
“But I’m not. She’ll know I’m lying.”
“Dude, just text her and see if she’s around.” Greg says.
Harry takes out his phone and types out a text. He hesitates before hitting send.
Harry: Hey, Abby! Are you home? I’m finishing up with my friends a bit earlier than I thought…maybe I could bring some dessert over?
Abby: Hey! Yeah, I’m home, snuggled up with Marv. I’d love it if you came by, especially if there’s dessert involved lol
Harry: Great! I can be by in about 30 minutes
Abby: sounds good! See you soon
“Alright, I’m gonna go up to the bar and get a lava cake to go. Thanks for being so cool about this guys.”
“No worries, H.” Lenny says. “Good luck.”
Harry races to Abby’s once he’s gotten the cake, and she buzzes him in. He knocks on her door, and she opens it for him.
“Hey.” She smiles and steps aside. “Come on in.”
“Thanks.” He pecks her cheek. “Hope you like chocolate lava cake.”
“Love it.” She takes it from him. “So…this is it. It’s just a studio.” She blushes. “But the kitchen is its own area, which is nice.”
“It’s great.” He smiles at her. “You’ve definitely utilized the space.”
There’s a large monitor mounted on the wall, a desk underneath it with Abby’s laptop, and an HDMI cord connecting both. There’s a small couch a few feet back, and then her bed is up against the opposite wall. Everything was neat and tidy.
“I use this wireless mouse as a remote, and I have a Fire Stick.” She says. Marvin comes trotting in from the kitchen. “Marv, you remember Harry. I’m just gonna stick this in the kitchen. Feel free to make yourself comfortable.” She walks into the kitchen as Harry sits down on the couch. Marvin jumps up to sit in his lap.
“Hey, little guy.” Harry pets his head and scratches behind his ears. Abby comes back out. She looks really cute tonight. She was wearing glasses, her hair tied to the side in a braid, leggings and an off the shoulder sweater. “Hope I’m not intruding on your cozy evening.”
“Not at all! I’m really glad you texted, actually. Did you have fun with your friends?”
“I did, yeah.”
“Are they dentists too?”
“Mhm, we lived together while we were in medical school. Lenny and Greg.”
“Where do they both work?”
“At other practices around the city. Greg’s actually an orthodontist. They’re both junior partners, though, I’m the first of the three of us to become a senior partner at a practice. Guess that was the one good thing about Dr. Morgan leaving MidCity.”
“You’re so successful.” She bites her bottom lip and looks down at Marvin in Harry’s lap. “Look at that, you’re here five minutes and he already liked you better than me.” She reaches and takes Marvin from Harry, snuggling him to her chest before putting him on the ground.
“I didn’t know you wore glasses.”
“Oh, I don’t. They’re just blue light blockers.” She takes them off and sets them on the side table next to the couch. “They help a lot when I’m on the computer for a while.”
“Ah.” He nods.
“What’s your place like?”
“I’ve got a condo, uh, it’s a three bedroom, but I use one as a home office.”
“Wow, good for you.”
“Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t always get to live so comfortably.”
“You’ve earned it, I bet you work really hard.” She smiles.
“I’m sure you work hard too.”
“True.” She nods. “But I’m paying off loans, and this is all I can really afford.”
“It’s a great place.” He assures her. “I wish the studio I had when I first started out was half as nice as this. I certainly didn’t keep things as neat as you.”
“Oh, I just rushed around to clean things up before you got here. It was a mess.” She laughs.
“I’m glad you were cool with me coming by.” He puts his hand over hers, rubbing his thumb along the back of her hand. “I’ve been having a great time with you this last month.”
“Me too.”
“My birthday’s next weekend, and…um, a ton of us are getting together at this pub…I’d love it if you could come.”
“Oh! Sure, would it be Saturday?”
“Yeah.”
“I’m there, I’d love to go. That’s so nice of you to invite me.” She leans in and kisses his cheek.
He looks at her, his eyes locking in on her lips. He leans in and presses his lips to hers. Her arms go around his neck to pull him closer, her fingers tangling with the curls on the nape of his neck. His arms wrap around her, hands splaying on her back to have her chest pressed to his. He lightly sucks on her bottom lip, and she opens up wider for him. He nearly groans as he licks into her, finally. She tugs on his hair as her tongue molds to his. One of his hands slides down her back and around to the front of her stomach. He just about reaches the band of her leggings when she grabs his hand, and moves it to her hip. He gives a squeeze and she whimpers into him. He plants kisses along her jaw to her earlobe, nibbling on it gently until he kisses on her neck. He mouths at her skin before sucking on her and she gasps.
“Don’t leave a mark.” She grunts, and she feels him nod against her skin. “H-Harry, is this the only reason you wanted to come see me tonight?” She blurts out and he stops to look at her.
“What? No.” He shakes his head. “I genuinely wanted to see you and split that cake. And…I mean…yeah, I’ve been wanting to do a little bit of this.” He runs a hand through his hair. “I like you a lot, Abby, I can’t help it.”
“I like you a lot too.” She gives him a soft smile. “We can keep kissing.”
“Are you sure?”
“Mhm.” She nods and brings her hand to the back of his neck to pull him back to her. This time she nibbles on his bottom lip and his hands go to her hips, squeezing and kneading. “Mm, but I don’t wanna go any further than this…not yet anyways. I hope that’s alright.”
“Of course it is.”
“I just…sort of wanna see where this is going before something so serious happens between us.”
“I get it.” He smiles. “I know you’ll be worth the wait.”
//
Harry: hope the first day of the semester has been treating you well!
Abby couldn’t help but smile at her phone. She knew Harry was extremely busy at work, so the fact that he took a moment to text her meant so much. The only thing was he texted her during a staff meeting, and her colleague Maya noticed her goofy smile.
“Abby, how was your break?” Maya asks her after the meeting.
“It was good! Um, I sort of started seeing someone.”
“Shut up! That’s amazing, who is it, how’d you meet?”
“His name is Harry…he’s, um, my dentist.”
“Oh, my, a doctor?”
“Yeah.” Abby nods. “We actually met years ago when he was still a student, and he just so happened to take over for my other dentist who apparently retired. It’s been a little over a month. He’s super nice, and funny…and he’s really fucking handsome.” She says the last part quietly.
“Good for you. Do you have a picture of him?”
“There’s one on the practice’s website. I haven’t, like, taken a selfie with yet. Although, I wish I had when he took me ice skating.” She pulls up MidCity’s website on her phone and shows Maya.
“Holy shit! He is handsome.”
“It’s going really well too. He’s met Marvin, and he invited me to his birthday party this weekend.”
“Wow, so you’re gonna get to meet his friends already?”
“I guess so.” She smiles. “The only thing is…do I get him a gift? And if so, what do I get him? I feel like it should be casual because everything’s so new still, but if it’s too casual he might think I’m not as into him as I am.”
“Shit, yeah, that’s a tough one.” Maya steps further into Abby’s office. The girls were close, so they were used to talking about personal things. “Have you slept with him yet? You could wear something for him to unwrap.”
“No, we haven’t.” Abby sighs. “I’m trying to take things slow with him because I really like him. We’ve made out a couple of times…”
“So…is that a no?”
“I don’t know, birthday sex as a gift? I feel like that’s so…cliché or something? Plus, I feel like he’ll be expecting it. I want it to feel more special than that.” She bites her bottom lip in thought.
“Oh! Have you been out to eat with him much?”
“Yeah, a ton, why?”
“Did you notice him order any specific types of alcohol?”
“Yeah! On our first real date he had this really nice bottle of white wine ordered to our table. It was delicious, and he loved it. I remember what it was, I could just get a bottle of that and a card, right?”
“I think that’s a totally acceptable gift. It’s sentimental, so it shows you put some thought into it, but also casual enough to show you’re not a psycho.”
“Exactly.”
Abby: you’re so sweet! It’s been a little busy with meetings and stuff, but other than that no fires to put out. Thanks so much for thinking of me, I hope you’re having a good day too! 😘
//
Harry didn’t want Abby to walk into the pub by herself, so he said he’d pick her up on his way. She insisted he didn’t need to, but he insisted that he did. She had a black dress on with black tights and blue heels. She zips up her long coat and runs her fingers through her hair. Her phone buzzes with a text from Harry that he’s downstairs with the uber. She takes a deep breath, grabs her gift, and heads downstairs.
“Happy birthday.” She smiles and gives him a peck on the cheek.
“Thanks, beautiful.” He opens the door for her and goes around to the other side. “Is that for me?” He points to the bag she’s settled into her lap.
“Maybe.” She shrugs a shoulder.
“You didn’t have to get me anything.” He places his hand on her thigh.
“I said maybe, so this could easily not be for you. I guess you’ll find out later.” She side eyes him and it makes him laugh.
“How was your first week back to campus?”
“Exhausting.” She sighs. “But I caught up on sleep this morning. Everyone was excited to see Marvin.” She chuckles. “And it was good to see my friends and students.”
“That’s good.” Harry smiles.
“What about you? How was your week?”
“Busy. I had four different surgeries, a ton of cavities, and a fuck ton of cleaning check ins. I think a lot of college kids were getting in their bi-annual visits before going back to school.”
“Ohhh, yup, I bet that’s what it was. Is there ever a time of year you’re super busy?”
“I would say summers I do a lot of wisdom teeth removals, so I get bogged down there. Everything’s pretty consistent, though.”
“So, who’s going to be at this party?”
“My friends Greg and Lenny, who are very excited to meet you.” Harry smiles and gives Abby’s thigh a squeeze. “Some people from work, you know Marie, and Dr. Morgan’s going to be there as well. Some other med school buddies will be there. I’m only thirty-two it’s not really a big deal.” He shrugs.
“I’m excited to meet your friends too.” She smiles. “And it’ll be good that I’ll know a couple of people so you won’t feel like you have to babysit me.”
“Aw, babe, I wouldn’t feel like that. I wouldn’t leave your side if that’s what you wanted, no worries.”
She nods and smiles nervously at him. He just called her ‘babe’ and it filled her tummy with butterflies. The driver pulls up in front of the pub, and Harry gets out first so he can open Abby’s door. She smiles at him as he puts his hand on the small of her back to lead her inside.
“There he is!” Greg exclaims. “Happy birthday, H!” The two hug.
“Thanks, mate, this is Abby. Abby, this is Greg.”
“It’s nice to meet you.” She says to him.
“Same to you, you’re even lovelier than Harry described.”
Abby giggles at that, and Harry leads her over to the coat room. It seems the whole pub had been rented out for his party. There was a small table for gifts, so she sets hers down.
“Wow, you look amazing.” Harry says, rubbing his hands up and down her arms.
“Thanks.” She smiles and leans in to peck his lips. “Wanna introduce me to some other people?”
“Yeah, come on.” He takes her hand and leads her back to everyone.
Abby gets introduced to Lenny, and some of Harry’s other doctor friends. She then gives Dr. Morgan a big hug, and she says hello to Marie and her wife. Harry gets Abby a glass of wine, and much to her surprise, he keeps his arm hooked around her waist for most of the evening. He clearly wanted her close by. His friends were kind, not at all arrogant, which was a tad unexpected since there were a lot of people with deep pockets in the room. Maybe doctors weren’t as snotty because they also had large student loan debts. They engaged her in conversation, asking about her work, and why the heck she wanted to spend her time with Harry, which made a lot of people laugh. Harry lit up when he was explaining how he and Abby actually met ears ago, and he talked about the card she had sent along to him, making her blush a bit. Everyone found the story to be quite endearing.
“Are you having a good time?” Harry asks Abby as they go up to the bar together.
“I am, your friends are great. Are you? It’s your birthday.”
“I’m having a wonderful time, even more so since you’re here.” He kisses her cheek and hands her a new glass of wine.
A tray of cupcakes is brought out, and everyone sings happy birthday to Harry. He blows out a few candles and thanks everyone for coming. The cupcakes were delicious, clearly from a nice bakery. Harry notices Abby getting a little bit of frosting on the corner of her mouth, and before she can grab a napkin, he’s catching it with his thumb and sucking it into his mouth. Her eyes widen as he winks at her.
“Th-thank you.” She says, clearing her throat.
“Don’t mention it.” He pecks her lips. “I was wondering something…”
“What is it?”
“Would you like to come home with me tonight? I thought it would be nice to spend some time alone after being so social.”
“Oh, um, yeah, I’d like that.” She nods.
“Will Marvin be alright without you?”
“Yeah, my, um, neighbor’s kid is actually watching him tonight. She’s a great pet sitter. I…I told her I may not be coming home tonight, so she’s fully prepared for a sleepover.”
Harry’s smile grows, and he kisses her again. After making the rounds to say goodbye to everyone, getting their coats, gathering all of the gifts, the two get into an uber to head to Harry’s condo. There’s a doorman that says hello to Harry and gives Abby a warm smile. She follows him through the lobby to the elevators. They step inside, and Harry hits a number on one of the higher floors. He leads her to his door, and he gets it open. She follows him into his living area, and they set his gifts down. He takes her coat for her, and hangs it up in his front closet.
“This is…a really nice place.” She says as she looks around.
“I’ll give you the full tour in a moment, I’ve been dying to open your gift all night.”
“Oh.” She blushes. “It’s really nothing special.”
He gives her an unconvinced look, and grabs the bag he remembers her bringing. They both sit down on the coach, and she watches him reach inside.
“A card, classic.” He smirks and sets it aside. He reaches back inside and pulls out the bottle of wine. “This is one of my favorites! How did you know?”
“I remember you ordering it when we went to that Italian place.” She smiles and he hugs her.
“Mind if I open it, or have you had enough for the night?”
“I’d love some.”
“Great! Just hang tight.”
Harry goes into the kitchen with the bottle. While she’s waiting patiently on the couch, Abby hears music come on. She sees a Bluetooth speaker light up, he must have turned it on from his phone. He comes out with two glasses of wine, and hands her one as he sits back down.
“Thank you.” She says as she takes a sip.
“No, thank you. This was really nice of you. You’ve got a great memory.” He takes a sip and sets the glass down on a coaster on his coffee table. She does the same. “My friends adored you, by the way. I’ve already got the texts to prove it.”
“I’m glad I made such a good first impression.” She inches closer to him.
He reaches to tuck some hair behind her ear, and he leans in to kiss her. She wraps her arms around his neck, and opens her mouth for him. One of his hands falls to her thigh as the other one cups her cheek. Her fingers work their way into his hair, and he squeezes her hip.
“Abby.” He breathes, and moves to kiss on her neck, just under her earlobe.
She lets her heels fall off as she pushes him back farther on the couch. She moves to straddle one of his thighs, and she brings her lips back to his. His hands move up and down her back until they reach just above her bum. She grabs his hands and moves them down to her ass. He groans into her as he squeezes, loving how plump she is. She kisses along his jaw and to his neck, and she rolls her hips down onto his thigh. He raises it to help press into her. She whimpers into his neck, and he cups her cheeks so she’ll at him.
“Do you wanna take this to the bedroom?” He asks softly.
“I don’t wanna go to sleep yet.”
“I didn’t think you did.” He smirks.
“No, I just…I mean, if we go in there…that’s all I’ll want to do.”
“Sleep?” She nods her head yes. “Oh.”
“Harry, I’m sorry.” She sighs. “I know it’s your birthday, and you were probably hoping for some…stuff to go down between us, but I think we should wait a little longer. Is that okay?”
“Abby, I wasn’t expecting us to do anything. I mean, if we had of course it would have been nice, but it’s okay.” He assures her. “I’m just happy you wanted to come back with me.”
She leans back in to kiss him, and they continue to grope each other as they kiss. Their tongues swirl around each other, and she continues to rock back and forth on his thigh. She lets him puts his hands on her breasts, and he kneads them through her dress. He moves her to lay down on the couch and he settles himself between her legs as he hovers over her. He kisses on the tops of her breasts that were now spilling out of her dress. He sucks and bites on the plushier areas, eliciting a moan from her.
“H-Harry, maybe we should cool it before you turn me into a leopard.”
He chuckles against her and pecks her lips before he sits up.
“Would you spend the night?”
“I’d love to.”
He helps her up off the couch and leads her to the bedroom. He flips the switch for the lights, and her eyes widen. His bedroom was neat, almost a little too neat. She raises a suspicious eyebrow at him.
“I…um, have a housekeeper.” He clears his throat. “Let me just grab a few things for you. I’m assuming you’ll want something to sleep in?”
“Please.” She chuckles, watching him move to his dresser for a tee shirt and pajama bottoms.
She follows him into his en suite as he opens the closet inside to look for a spare washcloth and toothbrush. He sets everything down on his double vanity and smiles at her.
“Use whatever you need, beautiful.” He kisses her cheek and steps out to give her some privacy.
Abby strips herself of her clothes, and then washes her face. She brushes her teeth, runs her fingers through her hair, and then puts on the clothes Harry set aside for her. They were so soft and smelled just like him. She sighs happily and makes her way back into his bedroom. He smiles at her and stands up from the bed.
“Get comfortable, I’m just gonna do my thing.” He tells her and she nods. “There’s a spare phone charger on that side of the bed if you need it.” He points to the right side and she smiles.
When he’s done in the bathroom he comes out in a pair of plaid bottoms, but he’s gotten rid of his shirt altogether. He was littered with tattoos which really surprised her. She thought he only had the one little cross on his hand.
“When did you get all of those?” She asks as he gets into bed with her.
“All of what? Oh! My tattoos? Years and years ago, when I was a stupid teenager.” He chuckles. “Haven’t added to the collection in a while.” He looks down at himself. “Do you, uh, not like tattoos?”
“No! I think they’re really cool.” She furrows her brows as she scans his chest. “They’re so interesting.”
“Thanks.” He smirks.
“Did they hurt?”
“Some more than others. You sort of get used to it after a while. I’m assuming you don’t have any?”
“No.” She shakes her head. “Just a few piercings.”
“Yeah?”
“Mhm.” She tucks some hair behind her ear. “Got my cartilage, and three holes in each lobe.”
“Noticed those, I love the earrings you wear.”
“And…” She pulls the blankets back a bit and pulls the shirt she’s wearing up slightly to reveal her belly button. “Got this done when I was twenty-two. I always wanted one and said fuck it.”
“It’s cute.” He smiles as he admire the jewel attached to her naval. “Now that had to have hurt.” He says as she puts her shirt back down.
“It honestly wasn’t as bad as I thought. It was just a little pinch, the guy took really good care of me. I was a little light headed after, and it was sore for a few days, but other than that it was fine.”
They stay up talking for a bit until they eventually fall asleep. Abby had moves to rest her head on Harry’s chest, and that’s how she fell asleep, to the smooth rhythm of his heartbeat. Harry couldn’t remember the last time someone spent the night in his bed and it didn’t involve sex, there was something sort of sweet about not doing anything and still be able to fall asleep together comfortably. Maybe there was something to this taking it slow thing.
The next morning, Abby woke up being spooned by Harry. His breath was fanning over the back of her neck, and he had a leg between hers. His arm was strung across her lower stomach lazily. She grabs her phone and sees that it’s about 8:30. She yawns and wiggles a bit to adjust herself. She feels his lips press a kiss into the back of her neck and his arm tightens around her stomach.
“You awake, darling?” He coos and it nearly makes her melt.
“Mhm.” It’s all she can manage to say.
“Good morning then.” He kisses the back of her neck again.
“Good morning.” She rolls over to her other side to look at him and he gives her a sleep smile. He leans into peck her nose, and he rubs at her side.
“Sleep alright?”
“Yeah, did you?”
“Mhm.” He nods. “I’m gonna wash up and then make us some breakfast, how does that sound?”
“Sounds amazing, Harry.”
He gets up and makes his way to the bathroom. When he comes out he’s thrown a shirt on, and Abby gets up to freshen up herself. She washes her face and brushes her teeth, putting her bra on under the shirt he had given her so she wasn’t putting on a show for him. She comes out to his kitchen and smells fresh coffee. She wanted to roll her eyes as she saw him using a French press.
“Hope you like hazelnut, it’s the only flavor I’ve got.”
“It’s perfect. Got any creamer?”
“Mhm, in the fridge.” He points to it and she opens it up, grabbing the creamer on the top shelf. It was pretty much full.
“I don’t use it myself, mostly keep it for guests.” He pours the coffee into two mugs.
“Ah, and do you have guests often?”
“None that I’d want to have a sleepover with, if that’s what you’re asking.” He kisses her cheek, and she pours the creamer into her coffee. “Now, what can I make you? What do you like for breakfast?”
“Oh, nothing fancy.” She shrugs. “Whatever you feel like making is fine.”
“Eggs and toast?”
“Works for me. Can I help?”
“You can help by just having a seat.”
Abby smiles and sits down on one of the stools at Harry’s kitchen island while he works to get the eggs out of the fridge. He ends up making scrambled eggs for the two of them to keep things quick. It was a pleasant breakfast. Abby thought it was cute that Harry genuinely read from the morning newspaper. She was resting her chin on her palm watching him.
“Anything interesting going on?” She asks him.
“Nah, it’s all negative.” He sighs as he flips a page.
“Could I have the funnies?”
“Sure!” Harry finds the chunk with the comics and slides it over to her.
“Thanks, I used to look forward to this every Sunday when my dad would pick up The Globe.”
“What was your favorite?”
“There was this one called Opus. There were all these different characters, and the story was pretty linear, which I thought was cool. I actually saved the last comic strip in a scrap book. The main characters, Opus the penguin, had gone missing or something and he was trying to find himself. It really tugged at my heartstrings.”
“Sometimes I forget not all of the funnies are just for kids.”
“I’m also partial to Family Circus, and I loved Zits.”
Harry smiles and goes back to reading the paper. He liked going over the sports and arts sections most. Abby helps him clean up the dishes and then she goes to get dressed.
“Do you want some sweat pants to wear so you don’t have to put all of that back on?”
“No, I’m okay. I’m just gonna put the dress on.”
“Won’t you be cold without the stockings?”
“I’ll be alright, but thanks.”
“Let me at list drive you home.”
“Okay.” She nods.
The ride was comfortably quiet as Harry kept his hand in Abby’s. He pulls over to the side to stop in front of her building, and they look at each other. Smiles grow on both of their faces.
“You already know what I’m going to ask.” He says to her.
“I know, but I wanna hear you say it.”
“Alright, when can I see you next?”
“Hmm…what about Tuesday night? We could go to a movie. Tickets are cheaper on Tuesdays so we can splurge on snacks.”
“I like the way you think. I’d love to go to a movie. You pick, and just tell me what time I need to meet you.”
“Sounds good.” She leans in to peck his lips. “Talk to you soon.” She gets out of the car and heads up to her apartment. Chrissy, the teenager watching Marvin, was sitting on her couch watching TV. “Hey, Chrissy. I already paid you on Venmo.”
“I saw! Thanks so much.” She stands up.
“Thanks for watching him all night.” Abby scoops up Marvin and cuddles him to her chest. “I hope he wasn’t too much trouble.”
“Not at all, he was great. He was my little study buddy.”
“Perfect. Well, enjoy your Sunday. Tell your parents thanks too.”
“I will, have a good day.” Chrissy heads out and Abby sets Marvin back down.
“Alright, Mumma’s gonna take a shower and then she’ll take you for a nice, long walk, sound good?” Marvin yips excitedly at her. “S’what I thought.”
//
Harry was fucked. He was running late and couldn’t get to a phone because he was in the middle of a surgery. Of course the one time there’s a few delays and complications he actually has somewhere to be. He was supposed to meet Abby at 6:45PM, it was already 6:30, there was no way in hell he was going to make it. He did his best to stay focused so he could do right by his patient. By the time he was done it was 7:45PM. He tried to call Abby, but her phone went right to voicemail.”
“Shit.” He says to himself.
“Dr. Styles.” Marie says. “You should change, you’re still scrubbed up and you have blood on you. Go home and shower, she’ll understand.”
“I just wish she’d turn her phone on…”
“Maybe she went to the movie alone.” Marie shrugs. “She could be one of those good people who actually turns their phone off.”
“Right, yeah. I’m gonna freshen up here, and then I’m gonna try to catch her outside the theater.”
Harry does just that, using the hospital locker room to have a quick shower. He rushes to the movie theater and waits outside. The movie they were supposed to see should be wrapping up any moment, so he goes into the lobby to watch for her. Hopefully she was actually there.
Abby throws out her trash and walks towards the main lobby. She was just turning her phone back on when she saw Harry standing there with a very apologetic look on his face. She sighs and walks over to him.
“I’m so sorry.” He starts. “I tried calling as soon as I could, but your phone went right to voicemail.”
“I turned it off when the previews started.” She chews on her bottom lip. “What happened?”
“My last surgery of the day got delayed, and then there were some complications…everything’s fine now, but it wasn’t an easy extraction. I had to really take my time, I’m so sorry. I swear this won’t happen a lot.” He looks down at his shoes and then back to her. “Was it a good movie at least?”
“It was alright.” She sighs. “Would have been better if I had someone to make comments to.” She nudges his shoulder.
“How can I make it up to you? Are you hungry? We could-“
“I already ate, it’s okay. I know you didn’t do anything on purpose. It’s getting late, so I’m just going to head home.”
“I feel terrible.”
“Don’t.” She smiles. “Shit happens.”
“Let me at least take you home, I drove here.”
“Sure.” She takes his hand in hers as they walk out of the theater. “Are you hungry?”
“Starved, actually, but I can just eat when I get home.”
“Don’t be silly, I have leftovers. You can come up and eat if you want.”
“I’d like that.”
Once they’re up in her apartment, Harry plays with Marvin while Abby heats up her leftover stir fry and rice. She hands Harry the warm bowl and they both sit down at the small table she has in her kitchen.
“Is it hot enough?” She asks him.
“It’s perfect, thank you.” He eats a little and then looks at her. “I really do feel terrible that you waited and had to sit alone…”
“It’s really okay. It’s not my first time going to the movies by myself.” She shrugs. “I’m pretty independent.”
“I just don’t want you thinking this is something that’s going to happen a lot. It’s so rare for a surgery like this to not be timely.”
“I’ll take your word for it.” She gives him a reassuring smile. “It’s really sweet you still showed up at the theater like you did. We’re together now, that’s all that really matters.”
Harry finishes eating and cleans up his bowl. He stands with his hands in his pockets by the door and she stands with her arms crossed. Neither were sure what to do. It was really too late to hang out any longer since they both needed to work the next day.
“Are you free Friday night?” He asks her. “We could go to dinner if you like.”
“Sure, that sounds nice. Wanna say seven?”
“Works for me. I’ll pick you up then.” He caresses her cheek and kisses her. They both linger for a moment before letting go. “Goodnight.”
“Goodnight.” She sighs after he leaves. It sucked being at the movies alone, but it meant the world to her that he still showed up at the end. It really showed his character, and for that she was grateful. She was still trying to gauge what kind of guy Harry was, and she had finally come to the conclusion that he was a good one.
//
“Two months and still nothing?” Greg asks Harry one Sunday evening as he and Lenny came over to watch the hockey game.
“Yeah.” Harry sighs as he sips on his beer. “I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love kissing her and, and she’s let me touch her over her clothes, but…I don’t know, she’s not as desperate and grabby as I am. What if she’s just not as into me?”
“I don’t think she’d be seeing you still if she wasn’t into you.” Lenny says. “How old is she again?”
“Twenty-six, why?”
“Well, maybe she’s hoping for things to be a little more official before she goes all the way with you.”
“Define official.” Harry mutters.
“Maybe she wants to know if you’re her boyfriend.” Lenny states.
“God, do you really think she’s hung up on some stupid label? We’re dating, we’re together, I think that’s pretty clear.”
“Remember when I dated that younger girl? She was, like, twenty-three?” Greg says and the guys both nod. “Well, she wanted to know what the status was after a few months. Obviously it didn’t work out because of the age difference, but these things matter to the younger women. They wanna know what to refer to you. Boyfriend is a lot easier to say than having to say the guy I’m seeing.”
“So, you have to ask yourself, do you want to be Abby’s boyfriend?” Lenny asks him. “If you don’t see things working out long term with her you should break it off.”
“I definitely don’t want to break it off. I really like her, and I like spending time with her.” He runs a hand through his hair. “I’m going to her place on Thursday for dinner, maybe we can talk about it then.”
“Yeah? She cooking for you again?” Greg asks.
“Mhm.” Harry smiles. “She really likes cooking for me, I don’t know why. I don’t mind it, she always makes something delicious.”
“Do you ever cook for her?” Lenny asks.
“Sure.” Harry shrugs. “We take turns.”
“That’s good, those things should definitely go both ways.” Greg says. “I bet you she just wants to make sure you’re not going to up and leave the second she lets you hit it.”
“I don’t know why she’d even think I’d do something like that…”
“Maybe she’s been burned in the past.” Lenny shrugs. “Have you had the ex talk?”
“No.” Harry shakes his head. “It doesn’t seem like something we’ve needed to talk about…but maybe we do.”
//
Thursday night Harry goes over to Abby’s with a bottle of wine and a box of chocolate chip cookies. He liked bringing dessert the times she made dinner for him.
“Hey.” She smiles and kisses him once he’s inside. She must’ve had a long day at work because she was still in her work clothes. Most times when Harry came over she had already changed into comfier clothes. “How was your day?”
“It was good, how about yours?” He hands her the wine and cookies and follows her into the kitchen.
“Long.” She sighs. “I had some heavier appointments today.” She blinks a few times. “I…I cried with a student today.” She looks at him, tearing up.
“Oh, baby, I’m so sorry, come here.” He opens his arms for her and she’s comforted by his embrace. He rests his chin on the top of her head. “Are you allowed to tell me what happened?”
“Yeah.” She sniffles and looks up at him. “This male student…he had a rough go of it in high school. A teacher…molested him, and it was this whole thing. He’s from a small town in Vermont so everyone knew. He came here to get away from it, you know? Make a fresh start? He’s started to see this girl that he really likes, and he’s petrified of her finding out, and he’s not sure if he should just tell her or if he should keep it to himself. But he’s afraid she might find out anyways somehow. I felt terrible. I mean, what kind of sick fuck uses their position of power over a kid like that, you know?”
“That’s…awful, beyond awful.” Harry frowns down at Abby.
“I just couldn’t keep it together, especially when he started crying, so I cried too. Then we both started laughing, and he was able to calm down and we talked about things more.” She steps back from Harry and wipes under eyes.
“I guess the upside is that you created such a welcoming environment that he felt safe enough to be so vulnerable with you.”
“Yeah.” She nods. “I suppose that’s a silver lining, thanks.” She smiles. “Anyways, we’re going to meet bi-weekly now just for little check ins.” She sighs and moves to stir the pot of pasta that’s on the stove. “I’m making pasta and meat sauce, hope that’s alright.”
“It’s great, Abby. Can I do anything?”
“No, everything’s just about done. Um, would you actually mind taking Marv out quickly for me? He just ate and I haven’t had a chance to take him out to do his business.”
“You got it.”
It wasn’t Harry’s first time taking Marvin out, so he really didn’t mind. He leashes him up and takes him down to the street. Marvin does his business, and Harry gets him back upstairs. By the time he comes back, Abby’s plated up dinner, and gotten the wine open and poured.
“Thank you.” She says to him, and leans down to pat Marvin’s head. “Ready to eat?”
“Mhm, thank you for cooking.”
“Oh, it was nothing.” She smiles. “I like when we get to have dinner together.”
“Me too, babe.” He takes a bite of food and moans. “This is amazing, Ab.”
“Thanks.” She blushes and takes a sip of her wine. “Harry, um, there’s something I…well…I’m just gonna come right out and say it.” She takes a deep breath as he looks at her. “Am I…am I your girlfriend?”
Harry’s concerned face softens into a smile.
“I’d like you to be.” He says to her. “I was actually going to bring this up tonight, guess you beat me to it.”
“Oh.” She says, a little surprised. “Well, good, okay.” She nods and takes a bite of food.
“I like you a lot, and I know it’s been a couple of months. I’m still having a great time with you.”
“Same here!” She assures him. “I just, you know, I don’t know what to tell my friends sometimes when they ask about you.”
“Well, now you can tell them about your boyfriend, yeah?” He smirks. “When do I get to meet these friends, hm? You’ve met all of mine.”
“That’s true.” She chews her bottom lip. “Well, I could arrange for a night out at a bar some weekend. We all love going out to dance and stuff…”
“Sounds like fun.”
“You’d be into something like that?”
“Sure, why not?”
“You just don’t exactly seem like the type of person who would enjoy going to a stuffy club with a ton of drunk people.”
“Hey, I know how to hang. Set it up and I’ll be there.”
“Great, I’ll text them.” She smiles, her body was buzzing with excitement. Harry stands up abruptly and comes over to her side of the table, cupping her jaw. He slots his lips over hers, sucking on her bottom lip and then letting her go before he sits back down. “Wh-what was that for?”
“Just wanted to give my girlfriend a kiss.” He shrugs, a smirk forming on his lips.
“Oh.” Her face had to be beat red at this point. They look at each other and smile. This time it’s Abby who decides to be bold. She gets up and sits on his lap side saddle. She grabs her phone and opens up SnapChat because it was better for taking selfies.
“What are you doing?”
“We hardly have any pictures together. Now that you’re my boyfriend that’s going to change. Smile.” She says to him, and he does as she says, taking a very cute picture.
“Send that to me?”
Abby presses her lips to his. Getting through dinner was going to take a little longer tonight.
//
Harry could, in fact, not hang. It was midnight and he was fighting to stay awake. He wished Abby had planned their big night out with her friends for a Saturday not Friday. It was a long week, and Harry just wanted to go to bed. He thought her friends were interesting. There was Billy, Abby’s absolute best friend. Billy happens to be trans, which Harry didn’t care about at all because Billy’s life was none of his business. Then there was Amy and Gina, Abby’s roommates from undergrad. They were all getting along fine, but the club was loud, packed, and sticky. Abby was having a good time, though, so what could he do?
“Another drink, Harry? Next round’s on me.” Billy says to him.
“Oh, no thank you. Think I’m gonna cool it.”
“Cool it?” Amy scoffs. “The night just started. Ab, hold old did you say he was again?”
“Don’t tease him.” Abby hooks an arm around Harry’s waist. “He’s thirty-two, a doctor, and he had a long week.” She looks up at him. “You’ve last two hours, go home if you want.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, I’ll call you tomorrow.” She puckers her lips and he kisses her.
“It was really nice meeting all of you. We’ll have to do it again sometime…maybe on a night I didn’t have two different surgeries.” He kisses Abby again. “Text me when you get home so I know you got back safe?”
“Will do, bye, babe!” Harry heads out, and Abby looks back at her friends. “He’s cute, right?”
“Very.” Gina says. “He seemed like he was having fun at the beginning.”
“He’s just tired.” Abby sighs. “We should have waited until tomorrow. He really is a lot of fun.”
“I’m sure he is.” Billy says with a smile. “So, you really haven’t slept with him yet?”
“No.” Abby shakes her head.
“What’s the hold up?” Amy asks.
“I just haven’t felt ready.” Abby shrugs. “He’s a really good kisser, though, so I know I’m close to getting there with him.”
“You haven’t even sucked his dick?” Gina asks.
“No, but I’ve felt it. We grind on each other a lot. But I always have us stop before it gets to be too much.”
“I’ve literally never known you to not want to fuck a guy you’ve been seeing.” Billy says.
“I know…I just…it all just feels like a dream come true still, and I’m afraid that once we do it something will go wrong and we’ll stop seeing each other. I have no idea why I feel like that, but I do.” Abby says.
“He’d be an idiot to let you go.” Amy says. “Do it when you’re ready, but I think I speak for the three of us when I say we approve of him.”
“Thanks, that means a lot.” The four share a group hug and go back out to the dancefloor to enjoy the rest of their night.
//
It was a rainy Saturday at the beginning of April. Harry told Abby to bring Marvin over to his place so they could get cozy for a lazy day of watching movies and being cozy. She happily accepted. The two of them really needed a day to relax. Abby was booked solid at work right now, and Harry was starting to get booked out with more and more wisdom teeth appointments. Harry liked when Abby would bring Marvin over. He had gotten a little dog bed for him and some toys. Harry even got him a little food and water bowl.
Abby was really falling for Harry. He made her feel safe, and he was beyond considerate. She also couldn’t believe how patient he was being. They were together three months, just entering the fourth, and they still hadn’t had sex yet. She knew he wanted it, of course, and she really wanted it too.
They were curled up on the couch together while Marvin was snoozing on his little dig bed. Neither had ever watched The Mindy Project before so they were binging it. Abby couldn’t believe what she was about to do, but she couldn’t help from blurting it out.
“Harry?” She looks up at him.
“Yeah?” He looks down at her.
“I…I love you.” His eyes widen as he looks at her, his mouth falling open. “Oh my god, it’s too soon, right? I…I…I…” Before she can ramble on anymore, he’s kissing her, hard.
“Christ, Abby.” He presses his forehead to hers. “I love you too.” He kisses her again.
“Really?”
“Of course I do. You couldn’t tell? I’ve got your picture framed on my night table, and I’ve got all this stuff here for Marvin, and I keep your favorite snacks in the pantry…”
She moves to straddle him, pushing his shoulders back into the couch. She slots her mouth over his, and he holds her close to him. She sucks on his bottom lip, making him groan.
“Harry, bring me to your bedroom, now.”
“Y-you wanna go to sleep?” He looks at her confused.
“No, I want you to fuck me.” She looks at him with dark eyes.
“Really?”
“Yes!”
He doesn’t question her again. Instead, he lifts her up and quickly carries her down the hall to his bedroom. He gets her on the bed, hovers over her, and starts by getting her shirt off. His eyes widen when he sees the lace bra she was wearing. He furrows his brows as he gets her leggings off. He glares at her when he sees that her panties match her bra.
“What is it?” She asks innocently.
“There’s this old saying that goes along the lines of if the girl’s wearing matching underwear, then she’s the one who decided to have sex.” Abby blinks at him. “Were you planning for this tonight?”
“I was hoping.” She sits up on her elbows. “I…I’ve been fucked over before, and I really wanted to make sure I knew how we felt about each other before we did this. I’m sorry that I made us wait so long.”
“Don’t be sorry, baby.” He caresses her cheek. “I’ll admit I was a little frustrated in the beginning, but…I’m sort of glad we waited. It’ll be more special now.”
“Exactly!” She beams at him. “Can…can we get back to it now?”
He chuckles and takes his shirt off and pants off. He hovers over her and kisses on her neck and chest. He reaches behind her to unhook her bra, and tugs it away. His lips wrap around one of her nipples, and he licks around it. He sucks on her, and it makes her moan. He licks over to her other breast, and sucks on her other nipple. She pushes his head closer to her chest and tugs at his hair. He kisses and nips his way down her soft tummy. She lifts her hips as he tugs her panties off. He opens her legs and sucks a bruise into her thigh. She gasps at that and groans. He licks a flat stripe up her slit and to her clit. He does this a few times, just to get a good taste of her.
He looks up at her as his tongue flicks back and forth on her clit. He presses a hand on her pelvis and pushes up so he can see her better. He sucks on her clit and she moans out. His fingers work around her folds, feeling her wetness, and then he slides his middle finger in. He gets his ring finger in as well, and starts to pump in and out of her. He moans into her as his hips rut against the bed. She grabs at his hair as his fingers start to rub against her front wall. Abby starts panting and breathing heavier.
“Fuck, Harry, please don’t stop!”
He groans into her as his answer, and keeps doing everything exactly the same to help get her there. Her hips move along with his face, and her body starts to feel warm all over. She cries out as she comes to her release. He retracts his fingers, and he sucks on her wet center before sitting up. She catches her breath and smiles at him. He smiles at her and gets his boxers off. She whimpers when she looks at his hard dick. She crawls towards him and wraps her hand around him. She kisses his tip and wraps her lips around him.
“God, I’ve been dreaming about this.” He groans as his head rolls back while she starts to bob up and down on him. She goes down enough to choke on him, and then she pulls off. “Do you want me to use a condom?”
“No, I’m on the pill. I wanna feel you.”
He nods and gets back onto the bed with her. She opens her legs back up for him, and he rubs the head of his cock along her folds and clit. Her hips press up towards him in anticipation. He slowly presses into her, and her mouth falls open.
“Jesus, you’re so fucking tight.” He grunts as he bottoms out.
“Move.” She tells him. “Move, Harry.” She whines, and he starts to rock in and out of her. She clutches at his biceps and digs her nails in. “Oh my god.” She moans.
“Feels good?”
“Feels amazing.” She bites her bottom lip. “Go harder.”
“Yeah, want me to fuck you hard?”
“Fuck, yeah, really give it to me.”
He gives her a wicked grin, and then pulls out of her. He flips her onto her stomach and slides back in. He grips the back of her neck, and his other hand rests at the base of her spine. He takes a deep breath, pulls out almost all the way, and then snaps his hips back into her. She gasps, and he does it again. He smacks her ass, and continues to fuck into her hard. The hand at the base of her spine slides around to her clit and he rubs it. It doesn’t take her long to lose it again. He pulls out and sits up against his headboard. Abby sinks down on him as he grips her hips. They move in sync together as she rides him. She licks into his mouth and they both moan. His hands grab all over her body, unsure of where he liked squeezing the most. He fondles her breasts for a bit before deciding to stick with her ass.
“You’re so fucking beautiful like this, Abby.” He says as he kisses on her neck. “I want you to come for me again.” He snakes a hand between them so he can rub her clit again.
“Fuck, yes, oh my god, Harry!” She grinds faster on him. “I want you to come inside me.”
“Shit, fuck.” He moans out and they come at the same time. “Fuck, Abby.” He breathes and kisses her, sucking on her bottom lip. Her fingers tangle back into his hair.
“Was it, um, worth the wait?”
“Oh my god, of course it was. I wanna fuck you over and over.” He smirks at her and she giggles.
“I think that can be arranged.” She pecks his lips. “Would you ever want to, um, tie me to the bed?”
“Oh, baby, if I didn’t love you before.”

The Medic (part five)

You quickly pulled your dress back on when the door knocked. Cillian quickly washed his hands while you made yourself presentable and answered the door to Kate, who immediately gave you a look.
"Interesting look y/n?" She smirked, glancing down at your dress. Inside out. Brilliant.
"Oh, I was having a nap. Up all night with someone who can't handle Tramadol!" You chuckled nervously.
"Mhmm.. thought you two would be hungry so I grabbed a few bits from Asda down the road." You smiled and let her in, Cillian however stayed behind the kitchen counter, and put the kettle on, giving you a look and glancing down at his hidden crotch. You laughed a little, making Kate turn to look at you.
"What's so funny?" You shook your head and quickly moved her to the sofa, sitting her down and taking the bag off her.
"Nothing.. thank you so much for these. Cill, you hungry?" You turned to ask him, winking knowing Kate couldn't see you.
"Ravenous," he grinned.
"Can you come grab these please? You need to keep moving otherwise you'll go stiff..." His eyes widened at your comment and he shook his head.
"No, no, I'm just making Kate a drink..." You couldn't help but chuckle as you brought the bag over to him, emptying its contents. Standing behind the counter, Kate had her eyes on the impressive view out of the window.
"Go lie down, I'll sort the drinks out. And do not take care of that until I'm with you to, er, monitor your breathing..." you whispered, glancing down at the very obvious tent in his jeans. He nodded, admitting that he was feeling exhausted, and quietly headed into his bedroom, closing the door behind him. Kate turned round as she heard the door close and asked if he was okay.
"He needs a rest, he had a rough night."
"So you gonna tell me the real reason your dress is inside out y/n?"
"I told you, I had a nap and got up quickly when I heard the door knock, that's all."
You changed the subject quickly before she interrogated you even further. You weren't sure what this was yourself, you didn't want to talk about it. You chatted about the accident and how Paul was doing for half an hour before you could see she was getting all question-y again.
"Well I guess I'd better go check on him."
"I'll leave you to it," she chuckled, giving you a hug and heading out with a wink.
You bit your lip and quietly opened the bedroom door. Looking at him, fast asleep on the bed, you didn't have the heart to wake him. Even his erection had passed out.. you pulled a blanket out of the wardrobe and covered him with it. His hand suddenly grabbed yours and he pulled you to lie down with him. Against your better judgement, you allowed it.
"I'm not going to be able to fulfil that end of the bargain, but at least let me hold you while I fall asleep?"
"Patient's orders again?"
"Mhmm... Come here..." You lay with your back against his chest as he lifted the blanket over you both. His arm wrapped around your waist, his face resting against your shoulder, kissing it lightly, before you felt him relax completely and drift back off again. Your own eyes grew heavy, the feel of his arm round you felt far too comfortable. Sleep came easily.
************************************************************
You woke a few hours later, you were now laying snuggled into his side with his right arm draped around you. He was still snoring lightly. You realised your body weight was resting right on his stitches. You eased off him gently so as not to hurt him but no joy. He woke with a hiss of pain.
"Shh... I'm sorry, I was lying on your ribs... Don't move I'll grab your painkillers..."
"No, no I'm okay - it's easing off now. It was just the shock that's all. I'm okay honestly. No more painkillers."
"Don't be a martyr Cillian, if it hurts, take them." You said sternly. Typical bloke...
"If it hurts, I will." You climbed out of bed, much to his disappointment, and walked into the living room. Glancing at the clock you were surprised to see it was 6am. You'd both slept for over 12 hours solid. You saw four missed calls from Anto, that would be interesting to explain...
You grabbed Cillian's antibiotics, water and a yogurt out of the fridge and brought them back into him.
"Take these now - you've missed about three doses! It's morning!" You laughed, telling him the time.
"I haven't slept that well in years, Jesus..."
"Your body needed the rest. Anto's been trying to call - how do I explain this, exactly?"
"We were watching a movie and fell asleep. No need to tell him I gave you a mind-blowing orgasm shortly beforehand."
"I wanted to talk to you about that actually," you said as you typed the message and sent it.
"About your orgasm?"
"No, well kinda.. Cillian I like you, I really do, and you have no idea how much I want you... But -"
"I know. It's inappropriate while you're my doctor, right?"
"Right..."
"No one needs to know though?"
"Cillian, my dress was inside out and my face was red as a beetroot. Kate suspects, at least. I could be struck off the medical register for this."
"So what do we do?"
"What do you want from me, exactly?"
"Who knows? But I really like you too. And I'd like to see more of you. Literally... More of you." He smiled, looking up and down your body.
"You're gonna leave me here like this?!" He asked, looking down at your hand that you'd just pulled away. You looked out of the window and stood up, wrapping your arms around yourself.
"I went to uni for seven years. Being a doctor is all I know, it's all I'm good at... As much as I want you, I don't think I can do this..."
"You weren't saying that this morning?"
"I wasn't thinking straight - we can't do this. Not while I'm here as your doctor.."
"Then don't be my doctor! Get Kate to take over?"
"I'm an onset medic, I cover all of you."
"Then it's our little secret until Friday night isn't it? Come on, no one suspects anything, no one knows a thing." You turned to look at him, surprised to see him now completely naked on the bed, cock in his hand slowly stroking up and down.
"Now now, I thought you were going to let me monitor you?" He groaned gently as he stroked, his breathing shallow.
"I'd say my breathing is perfectly fine, wouldn't you?"
"Yes I would... What happens to it if I do this?" You took the straps of your dress off and let it fall to the floor. Unclasping your bra, tossing it aside, and letting your panties drop. His breathing paused, as did his hand as he admired the view in front of him.
"Oh dear Mr Murphy.. I'm afraid I'm going to have to give you the once over. I'm not convinced you're ready for me..."
"Get over here and I'll show you how fucking ready I am..."

The Alienist and the Soprano
Chapter 26: The News
A/N: This was inspired by Laszlo’s love of opera and my thought on what if he fell for an opera singer. Multi chapter. Canon divergence, there is no Mary Palmer here (I loved Mary and Laszlo, so I don’t feel like I could have her here and have him be with another woman). A mix of show and book canons. No Y/N, OC named Evelina Lind. Posting this a day early because I will be busy tomorrow due to it being Christmas Eve. I realized I never shared with you all who my fan cast of Evelina is, so let me share it now, it’s Phoebe Dynevor. I want to just say thank you all for following story and I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
A03: https://archiveofourown.org/works/32029150/chapters/89522107
Pairing: Laszlo Kreizler x Fem OC!
Summary: The last thing Laszlo Kreizler ever expected while investigating the death of children was to fall in love, and with an opera singer no less!
Warnings: Age gap, small angst, discussions of a medical procedure, plenty of fluff to make up for the angst from the last chapter.
Laszlo hadn’t left her side, watching carefully her breathing, almost as if he was afraid that if he looked away for even a second, he’d miss a critical moment that he could help to save her. John stepped out to find out the status of the doctor arriving while Laszlo undressed his wife, removing her dress and corset, leaving her only in her bloody shift. It looked bad, there were more injuries than he had expected and he didn’t know if he could stand to see her like this. “Please let her live, I’ll be good for all my days, just let her live,” he whispers, promises to anyone that would hear him.
The doctor arrived in ten minutes and was quick to check on her patient. Laszlo and John were surprised to see that the doctor was a woman, but the doctor hadn’t time to be worried what either of them thought, heading straight to her patient. “Tell me what happened. Where was she hit?”
“Uh, well she was punched in the face a few times, there was a pretty harsh kick to her stomach-”
Dr. Mallard looked at John with a stunned look that silenced and then quickly demanded, “Out. I need everyone out, now.”
“Wait, why? I’m her husband, let me stay!” Laszlo demanded as well, with John holding onto his arm.
“Please Dr. Kreizler, I will explain in time, but I must see her alone. Now!”
It took all of John’s might to pull Laszlo away, and he was not afraid to do so. “Will Ma be alright?” asked Stevie, his face painted with worry.
“Yes,” John replied, “I am sure she will be. Stevie, get an ice pack for the doctor’s arm, it got pretty twisted earlier today.” Now given a task, Stevie hurried off, wanting to do something to help.
Once he got him in the den, John tried to distract him in whatever way he could. “Try and relax,” John offered, “Have some tea.”
“Tea?! How can you think about tea at a time like this? My wife could be near death and you want me to drink tea?”
“Yes,” John sharply replied, “Because it would be what Evelina would want you to do. Dr. Mallard knows what she is doing, and we must trust her, because Evelina trusts her, enough to ask for her specifically. And you have Stevie to think of, can you imagine what he must feel too? Now, please sit and relax, or else I’ll give the doctor a reason to check up on you.”
Knowing full well that John was right, he managed to sit down long enough for one cup of tea, and while he felt himself feel some of the edge taken off, it didn’t completely relax him. Stevie returned with the ice pack and held it in place for his father. Laszlo saw that Stevie was clearly shaken by the sight, and this was a boy who had seen dead boys and nearly was prostituted himself. Laszlo wrapped his good arm around Stevie’s shoulder, pulling him close, offering silent comfort.
After ten minutes of not a word, Laszlo rushed up the stairs, to demand to know what was going on, but as he was about to barge in, Dr. Mallard opened the door and smiled. “Ah, Dr. Kreizler, perfect timing. Come in,” she said, allowing Laszlo to enter. Evelina was asleep, bandages on her arm, one around her forehead with a crimson stain, and no doubt everywhere else. Was this how Evelina saw him when he had been injured? Was this the feeling she felt, because if so, it was the most terrible feeling and he wondered how she could have endured it?
Falling to his knees beside her, he ran a hand over her hair. “How is she?”
“She’ll be alright. The wounds are not too deep, oh, a scar here or there, but nothing life threatening. Although, I would suggest she remain in bed for a time, just to be on the safe side.”
“Safe side?” Laszlo asked, looking at the doctor incredulously, “I thought you said it was nothing life threatening.”
“It isn’t, for her.”
“What do you mean?”
The doctor paused, then shared, “Mrs. Kreizler is with child. She had wanted to be the one to tell you, but I fear I had to take the privilege away so you could understand the gravity of the situation. Now, while the impact to the belly did not seem to have caused any damage to the child, I want her to stay in bed and not do anything too strenuous in the meantime. I’ll check on her in the next day or two. Congratulations doctor, I am sorry you had to find out this way, and good night.” Dr. Mallard left, leaving Laszlo in a daze.
A baby. His darling Evelina was with child, his child. He was going to be a father. He looked over her and wondered how he could have missed it? When did Evelina know? Why didn’t she say anything? So many questions, but the one thing that stayed with him was that his wife was safe and he was going to be a father.
Evelina felt her eyes heavy and her body sore. It felt as though it took a long time to collect her bearings, and see that Laszlo was asleep, head down on the bed, his hand on her belly. “Laszlo?” It came out as a hoarse whisper, hurting her throat. While it took a little effort on her part to raise her arm, she managed to run her hand through his hair, easing him into wakefulness. “Darling,” she rasped.
He was wide awake and quickly turned to pour her a cup of water. “Here, my love, drink.” He helped her to drink the water, which was the whole cup and then half of one, finally quenching her thirst. “There, isn’t that better?”
“Much,” she replied, her voice less hoarse. “How long have you been sitting here?”
“Hours. I don’t know exactly.”
“Oh,” she sighed, her hand against his cheek, “I am so sorry, I should have been on my guard.”
Taking her hand, he kissed it and shook his head. “No, it’s my fault. I should have known that when she saw me, she would have come after you. But, it’ll be alright now. She nor any of the others will come after you again, and you’ll be alright.”
Her eyes widened a bit and she asked, “Was Dr. Mallard here?”
“Yes. She said that you and the baby will be alright, though to be on bed rest indefinitely.” Evelina sighed, looking both relived at the news, but also disappointed that she couldn’t say it herself. “When did you know?”
Licking her dry lips, she answered, “I only found out just before being taken. I had suspicions for a little while, but it was too soon to be sure.”
He nodded, it was the smart thing to do for certain, and it just was not the way he wanted to know the news. He’d ask her another time about what happened with the doctor, but there was one thing he had to ask her. “John told me that when Libby kidnapped you both, she whispered something to you and you broke down in tears. What did she say to you?”
Evelina closed her eyes and tears rolled down her cheeks, remembering what was said. “She knew that I was with child, she must have seen me at the hospital and figured it out. And after she went on about how she wanted to punish you, she leaned in and said ‘If your husband will not give me my child, then I will take his’,” She began to sob recalling the memory. “I begged her to have mercy on the child, but she wouldn’t listen. I was so scared Laszlo, I was so scared that she’d harm our baby, and it would have been my fault. Oh, Laszlo!”
Laszlo sat up and carefully pulled her close to him, trying to soothe her. “I know, I know, my love, and I am so sorry you had to suffer that. But I promise you, she will never harm you or our child again. She is at Sing Sing now, and I will never let anyone take you from me. I promise.” He pulled back to look at her and wipe away her tears. “Please don’t cry. You are safe now.”
She curled her body close to his, not caring that she was sore, just wanted his comforting embrace. To make it easier on her, Laszlo climbed into the bed, lying beside her and ran his bad arm up and down hers. “How is your arm?”
“Oh, sore but I’ve had worse. Not broken or anything.”
“What a dirty trick for him to have done to you.”
“Who’s to say I wouldn’t have done the same in his position?” Pressing a kiss to her forehead, he asked, “Drágaságom? Should we tell Stevie that he’ll be getting a brother or sister?”
“Not yet. I would rather wait until the doctor says I am out of danger. So, mum’s the word.”
Speaking of, there was a quiet knock at the door before it opened carefully and they saw Stevie’s head poking through. Once he saw Evelina, he sighed and a tears fell down his face. “Ma,” he breathed, making his way to the bed, laying on the other side of her, his head resting on her lap. Evelina ran her hand through his hair, trying to give him comfort. “Are you ok? Is there anything I can do?”
“I will be alright, Stevie, just some bed rest is required. I am a little hungry, if you don’t mind getting me something to eat.”
He sat up and wiped his eyes. “Sure! What would you like?”
“I believe there is some left over chicken, I’d like that. And perhaps, something sweet on the side, maybe honey?” They watched Stevie get up in a flash, more than happy to get her food. “He’s going to be such a wonderful bring brother,” Evelina cooed. “And you a wonderful father.”
He looked down at her, still on the high of hearing the news to worry about his own insecurities. “We’re having a baby,” he sweetly said, going back to cuddling his wife.
TWO DAYS AGO
It hadn’t occurred to her that she was pregnant, not until an innocent event made her realize it. It was during the final show that one of the other singers, Christine, came to her dressing room asking if she had a sanitary napkin and Evelina had not. For a brief moment, Evelina thought nothing of it, thinking that she needed to put a new on in her purse, but then she thought about it. Her last menstruation was in early May. It was now mid-July. How did she not notice, how did it slip right past her completely?
It was a thought that kept her up at night and unable to sleep, she slipped out of bed and went to the library, looking for an encyclopedia on the female anatomy. Finding the section on pregnancy, she read symptoms and found that some she did not have, such as morning sickness, constipation and fatigue, but she did have tender breasts, increased urination and food aversion as well as cravings. It all seemed too good to be true, and she wanted to believe it right then and there, but she did not wish to speak something that would turn out to be untrue. Best thing to do was to see a doctor, but quietly.
She sought out Madam Antonia, who with her bouncy baby boy looked wonderful and healthy, suggested to her the doctor she saw, one Valentine Mallard. Evelina felt safe going to this doctor, not only because her predecessor suggested her, but also because Dr. Mallard was a woman. Dr. Valentine Mallard was a woman in her thirties, dark hair, golden olive skin and dark eyes, but she had a look about her that was welcoming and friendly, and Evelina felt as though she could trust her with anything.
“Forgive me,” Evelina said after being caught staring at her clothing choice, “My friend has trousers like yours. Comes quite handy here, I am sure.”
When Evelina saw her first walk in, her first thought was how similar this woman was to Sara. Much like her friend, the doctor carried herself with an air of confidence and assurance, as well as her remarkable choice in clothing, for she wore trousers like Sara did, hence the comment. “Indeed. Many men I know find the idea insulting, but it isn’t always easy to move around wearing skirts.”
“My friend, Sara Howard is a detective. She’s always on the move, one of the bravest and smartest ladies I know.”
“She sounds rather remarkable. Was this the friend who recommend you to me?”
“No, it was Madame Antonia.”
“Oh yes,” she says recalling those visits, “And I have a feeling it is for the same reason, is that true?”
“Yes. I had only noticed anything two days ago, and I wish to confirm anything before mentioning this to my husband.” She then proceeded to share some of the symptoms she noticed and when the last time she bled. “I wish to be certain before telling my husband, and I am not sure what he will feel.”
Dr. Mallard nodded then asked, “Tell me, and please know that this is a place of safety and trust. Do you wish to be with child? I only ask because I know some women, for whatever their reason, are not ready to have a child. And if this is the case, I should like to help you in any way I can.”
It took her a moment to understand what the doctor meant, and when she did, she was touched by her gesture, and once again it reminded her of Sara, but also quickly defended her words. “Oh no, forgive me, I did not mean it in that way. It’s just, my husband was brought up by an abusive father, and while he himself is wonderful with children, I think he would have doubts about being a father himself. But I am sure he’ll be happy. Is there a way to tell for certain?”
“Well, it seems as if you have plenty of the symptoms, but there is one way to be certain. It is a fairly new method but has proven to be dependable. Have you heard of Chadwick’s Sign?” Evelina shook her head, prompting the doctor to continue. “It’s the decolonization around your cervix and labia, making it a bluish color due to an increase in blood flow. If that is present, then it is a sure sign you are indeed with child. Most doctors won’t do it simply because of how close and personal they’ll have to get, but if you are comfortable with it, we may do it.”
Evelina thought for a moment then said, “I think, if it had been a man, I would have been incredibly uncertain and uncomfortable, but my discomfort would decrease immensely having you check for me.” It was unusual, as Evelina hadn’t had anyone that close to that area, well, with the exception of her husband, which is how she got into this position in the first place, but Dr. Mallard made quick work of it and helped Evelina adjust herself before giving the news.
“I think you’ll want to prepare yourself, because I am sure your husband will be very happy with the news.”
Evelina’s face brightened. “I am with child?”
“Most certainly.” Evelina jumped up and hugged her, making the doctor laugh. “I am glad to give such good news.”
“Forgive me,” she sighed, pulling away, “I’m just so happy.”
“I know and I am glad to see you happy. I sadly see too many women who the news are not as welcoming. Now, let me give you my card,” she said, pulling out a small index card, writing on it. “I would like to see you in a few weeks, I wrote the appointment date on the back.” Handing the card, she walked her to the door and shook her hand. “Once again, congratulations Mrs. Kreizler. I am sure the doctor will be happy with the news.”
“Thank you, thank you so much!” Evelina declared, hurrying off to meet with John. She did recall passing a woman whose hair was tightly bound in a bun, red like fire, but not having seen her face, she never would have known it to be Libby Hatch.
It wasn’t exactly how she wanted the news to be announced, but Laszlo seemed happy, though she was sure a day of rest and peace would allow him to really understand the weight of the situation and the doubt will flood in. That was the least of her worries, she knew that would come, but now her top priority was to make sure she was well enough for the baby. As Laszlo slept beside her, she ran her hand over her stomach, feeling the slight curve that hadn’t been there before and smiled. Yes, our child will be alright, she thinks, her parents are made of tougher stuff and so will they.

being the MSBY Jackals’ physiotherapist
anon: HEY BOO! LISTEN BEING THE BLACK JACKELS PHYSIOTHERAPIST! I can imagine a lot of damage I- bye 😽 I could I please have that as a headcanon 👉👈 thanks! ❤️ (that is a If requests are open..)
they are most definitely open and OH MY GOD THIS IS SUCH AN AMAZING IDEA WHEN I GOT THIS I COULDN’T WAIT TO START. i’ve been watching a lot of vids on what physical therapists do too and i hope you like this it was so fun to write !!
Bokuto Koutarou:
he deadass got you mixed up with the sports psychologist
when he walked into your clinic he was all ‘ah, hey there’ before lying faceup on the cot and just talking about his problems
and at first you were alright cause good to make conversation and everything until you realized.... “this guy thinks i’m the therapist”
bokuto: people always assume that i’m really naive and i kinda am but--
you: bokuto,,,, i’m not the therapist
bokuto: oh 👁👄👁
you: does it, um, hurt anywhere?
bokuto: *points to his heart*
after directing him to therapist’’s office, you finally clear up his misconceptions on what you’re supposed to be
you did hear about bokuto but what you didn’t expect was that he was An Actual Ray of Sunshine
whenever he comes to your office for his weekly check-ups, he always brings some sort of present
he likes to bring a package of cookies and the two of you eat them while you have your session
bokuto still uses the term ‘ouchie’ and it’s adorable
he takes really good of himself and his body so he isn’t prone to serious injuries. as soon as he knows something feels off, he’ll stop himself from working and come to your clinic
except,,, he comes way too often
bokuto: I WAS FLEXING MY FINGER AND THEN IT SUDDENLY MADE A CRACK SOUND WILL IT FALL OFF???
you: you’ve... never popped your fingers before?
bokuto: you can POP your FINGERS???
in interviews, bokuto loves to mention all the people who helped him on his journey and ngl it’s a REALLY LONG LIST but he always, always mentions you as ‘the best physical therapist ever!!’
and it makes you so soft you love your job so much
he actually ends up recommending you to his friend, akaashi keiji, because bokuto knows his shoulders and back hurt
akaashi comes into your office and just goes: “can you crack my back and shake me like a glowstick?”
you: i think you’re looking for a chiropractor
akaashi: ...
you: okay, lie down. i’ll see what i can do
Hinata Shouyo:
he got LOST TRYING TO FIND YOUR CLINIC
like, you were checking your watch wondering where your client was before he burst into your clinic thirty minutes late
also for some reason he was really nervous to see you poor baby he had the misconception that you were there to find what was wrong with him and then after he wouldn’t be able to play again
so he was genuinely surprised after you just made him do a few stretches for him, recommended some ways to move his body to utilize it better, and just sent him off
hinata: just... just like that?
you: yeah, pretty much. unless you feel that something else is wrong
after that he’s not so afraid to visit your clinic. in fact, he enjoys it quite a lot!
hinata really takes note of the advice you gave him (he brings a notepad and everything) and he likes to call you up to let you know that they worked
he actually calls you A LOT, like you’re probably the person he texts and calls the most other than natsu
at one point he was calling you every single day asking about what to eat until you decided to make a whole-ass weekly meal plan for him to just cycle through
he’s actually quite flexible (not as much as sakusa though) and he’s so proud of being able to reach farther than his toes
when you’re not looking though he measures himself against the height chart on your wall and you think it’s absolutely adorable
hinata knows how to take care of his body and TRIES not to overwork himself but sometimes he gets really impatient about wanting to improve so he’ll stay late in the gym, practicing his spikes and serves
BUT since his teammates know hinata listens to you they’ll threaten to tell you when he’s overworking
sakusa: hinata, if you don’t leave the gym right this instant i am calling y/n
hinata: just five more minutes!!
sakusa: *pulls out his phones and presses some random numbers in*
hinata: OKAY OKAY I’M GOING
it’s kind of like the adult version of your parents calling the doctor when you don’t want to eat
also you have no idea that this happens
even though he’s moved on from it, hinata still gets a bit paranoid about playing a major game while being sick
you’re always at their games as part of their medic crew and before it starts, hinata always comes up to you and asks if you can take his temperature
you didn’t know why until atsumu explained everything so now you make sure to always have a temperature on you for hinata’s peace of mind
Atsumu Miya:
someone who actually knows what physical therapists actually do thank god
ngl you’re kinda shookt at how large he is in real life when he walks into your clinic
he also assumes right away that you want an autograph so he gifts you a signed picture of himself which you always have on your desk from now on because come on you are a fan
atsumu’s really nice to talk to, he does flirt quite a bit but he genuinely asks about how you are too or if your family is doing alright
such a sweet boy
atsumu’s the one who visits your office often but for reasons that are actually relevant to your job because this man just overexerts himself too much
and he keeps brushing it off and saying that he’s alright but you know better you’re a physical therapist for god’s sake
atsumu: i’m telling you. it’s just a sprain!
you: *pokes his ankle*
atsumu: aaaAAAAAAHHHH
he’s the one that you have to constantly keep tabs on and thanks to the help of his teammates and a spare key, you’re able to drop by his apartment once in a while
but no matter how much of a pain in the ass he is you still can’t help but want to take care of him. whenever you make yourself dinner you find yourself making seconds for atsumu
before you know it, you’re making dinner for your favorite MSBY boys because you don’t want them to feel left out
you also have to stop atsumu from overdoing on the protein shakes and drinking vitamins
because he’s addicted protein shakes especially the strawberry-flavored one but you’re the only one who knows that so shhhhhh
atsumu: if one vitamin capsule makes me healthy, does that mean drinking more will make me even more healthy ??
you: NO STOP. STOP WHATEVER YOU’RE DOING. RIGHT NOW.
one time you got a call in the middle of the night from atsumu saying that he ate an entire container of gummy vitamins and you had to run to his place in your pajamas
idk you just see him so much because he keeps getting injuries and it’s hilarious
atsumu, walking into your clinic: hey, doc! they sent me here cause my back hurts from carrying the entire team!
you: atsumu, you dislocated your shoulder
Sakusa Kiyoomi:
probably your most normal client among the four of them but that doesn’t mean you don’t enjoy his visits to the clinic
well, actually when he first visited your clinic, everyone else stalked him because they wanted to see his Flexible Wrists in action
you had to chase them out
sakusa is SO HAPPY that you just took one look at his Flexi-Wrists and noted it down without going batshit over it
you always spray the cots and your instruments with alcohol before he comes in and sakusa knows cause he smells it and he appreciates that so much
one thing that you do notice is that sakusa,,, frequently glances at the jar of lollipops you keep on your desk and give out to your kid patients
and after a session he just lingers for a bit before saying good bye and leaving so one day you just take a chance
you: would you,,, like a lollipop?
sakusa: .... yes please
he chooses a cherry flavored one and is about to leave when he sits back down on the chair
sakusa: they’ll never let me hear the end of it if they see me
so you let him stay in your clinic for a bit longer before deciding to also get a lollipop and that’s how the two of you end your sessions
no talking. just lollipop eating
(i know how it looks but pls don’t add sexual connotations i jus want sakusa to enjoy a fricking lollipop)
he actually likes to remember the scientific muscle names and everything just to impress you
also, he doesn’t want to give you a hard time but he also likes visiting your office and talking to you (and eating the lollipops) so he makes up all these excuses to come by your clinic
sakusa: i hit my toe on the table
you: okaay, do you need a bandaid?
sakusa: it was the small toe
sakusa’s quite selective about the people he’s with so he’s kind of attached to you now. like it or not, you’re his personal doctor
prepare to receive texts like ‘y/n, i have a cough. what should i drink?’
you: sakusa, i’m a PHYSICAL THERAPIST
you: also, ginger tea is supposed to be good for you
he’s actually your eyes and ears when it comes to monitoring the team. kind of like the kid who tattles to the teacher in pre-school
sakusa: y/n, atsumu’s overdoing it again
you: is that so?
atsumu, in the background: NOOOOO NOOO I’M NOT !! SAKUSA’S LYING
you have such a soft spot for sakusa. when he had to be confined at home for breaking his ankle, you sent him a whole jar of lollipops
he ate them all in one day

BNHA: Kakashi dimension hops crossover (2)
Summary: Kakashi gets dumbed into the My Hero Academia universe through random plot devise.
Characters: Kakashi Hatake
Fandoms: My Hero Academia and Naruto
WARNINGS: Mentions of violence/injury
... PREV / NEXT
...
Life in his hospital bed passes slowly while he waits for his chakra to replenish. Always a sluggish process for Kakashi. With nothing to do, nowhere to go and a significant lack of motivation to find either, there is a lot of time to think. Too much time. With what was shaping up to be the fourth great shinobi war, there was no time for reflection or resting. To suddenly have this much downtime thrust upon him is throwing him through a loop. And he doesn’t even have his periodic trips to the memorial as a distraction. If only Sakura could see him now, resting and recuperating like a good injured shinobi.
Doctor Wada, the ever-attentive physician, returns a few more times to ask more questions and offer more reassurances. He seems set on his theory that Kakashi’s yet to be properly identified quirk was the cause of his memory problems. Kakashi runs through a sweet of memory and vision tests. A baseline for later testing when his eye is healed he is told.
“The police have a few questions regarding your situation. With your permission, they would like to conduct an interview,” says Wada on Kakashi’s third day of being officially awake, “Of course, as your doctor, I have the final say in the matter so if you would rather wait just say the word.”
Kakashi gives another bland smile, “Ah, you are too kind.” Police…as in, an authority the dealt with civilian conflict? “I think I’ll answer their questions. Wouldn’t want to stall an investigation.”
He had been wondering when or if he would be investigated. How similar would it be to Kohoha’s internal police force?
“Humph. If you think you’re ready for it.”
He maintains his smile. It was as good an opportunity as any to continue gathering information with the bonus of breaking up the monotony of waiting in a hospital bed for his injuries to heal. Doctor Wada spends the rest of the check-up muttering about pushy police officers and how underappreciated his medical opinion was.
..
The two men that come to question him are wearing matching uniforms which are very telling of the sort of organisation they belong to. White and dark blue. Not made to camouflage or reinforce. Restrictive seaming around the arms, preventing any extreme movement. Their shoes are sturdy but inflexible with heavy soles. Manurable but not designed for any excessive combat. Not a uniform you would give a force intended to physically subdue threats. Whereas Konoha’s police force was comprised mainly of genin and chunin, these men were closer to civilians in pure physical ability. Ah, but he is beginning to suspect that this was the norm here. The people here were softer in a way that was hard to define.
Kakashi watches them approach, seated upright in his bed, hands resting loose in his lap, aiming it create an impression harmlessness. One good thing to have come from agreeing to this interview was getting his own private hospital room. Now there was no one around to raise an alarm if something went wrong and he was forced to act.
“Good morning,” The older one of the two starts, politely dipping his head, “Kakashi was it?”
“Hmm,” he smiles, “Morning.” There is a pause like they are waiting for him to give his last name. He doesn’t.
“Well,” The man clears his throat, “I am officer Takata Toyokazu, currently in charge of investigating the circumstances surrounding the assault on your person.” An ID card, very similar to Konoha’s own ID cards is presented, “This is my partner. We’re from Hosu’s Central Police and we have a few questions if you don’t mind answering them for us.”
“Ah,” Kakashi eyes the ID, lamenting the fact that his sharingan is covered under a swatch of bandages and thus inaccessible without obvious movement, “I am afraid my memory just isn’t all there. Apologies in advance if my responses are lacking.”
He lets a little humour leak into his tone. It was time to do a little prodding and gauged how this place's ‘police’ conducted their investigations.
“Yes. We were informed about your memory problems.” The two share an obvious glance and there is a definite note of scepticism there. “Nevertheless, any information would be appreciated.”
“Of course.” He easily agrees, shrugging, projecting an air of casual nonchalance.
Takata blinks “Right,” and Kakashi can practically see his brain stalling, “Well, you were found on the corner of First and Eleventh street in Hosu’s Central Business District. Would you say this is accurate?”
Kakashi thinks for an exaggerated moment, “I do remember a lot of people. I think someone called for help?”
“You were picked up in an ambulance yes. Do you remember what happened before that?”
“Hmm, I was attacked…there were a lot of trees.” He nods like he has just delivered a useful bit of intel.
“Trees?” Is the deadpan response.
“You know…tall plants with leaves and a….”
“We know what trees are. So, you were in a place with a lot of trees before you were in Hosu’s business district.”
“Probably.”
“A park maybe? There are a few around Hosu. Do remember anything else. Distinctive landmarks?”
“Ah,” he waits for a beat, “No.”
Kakashi is the subject of a disbelieving squint. “No names. Streets. Nearby locations?”
“Nope. All gone.” He says cheerfully and Takata’s brow twitches into an irritated frown.
“You were admitted with multiple stab wounds. Do you remember how you got them?”
He shrugs, “A knife probably.”
“Well, do you remember anything about who was holding the knife?”
“OH!” The two men startle at this sudden exclamation, “It was a man.”
There are a few seconds of silence. “What did the man look like?”
“I don’t remember that bit.”
This time he gets a very obvious frown. Apparently, realising that the current line of questioning is getting them nowhere, the officer motions to his partner and is handed a large envelope. After some shuffling around, a paper file is produced and flipped upright in Kakashi’s direction. It is a photograph of kunai, shuriken, senbon, razor wire and assortment of other weaponry he carried around on his person. He had wondered what the hospital had done with his stuff.
“These are the weapons found on your person when you were admitted to hospital. All confiscated. It’s illegal to carry these sorts of thrown weapons and knives in Japan.”
He scans the photo with interest. The image has his weaponry all laid out in neat lines.
“Really?” He is not even faking his curiosity this time. No one carried around any weapons at all? That wasn’t just a trend limited to the hospital?
“Yes.” Comes the short response, “what were you using them for.”
“Oh, I don’t remember,” he says gleefully, “How scary.” And gets another round of scowls. After doggedly refusing to give more than vague answers and misdirection, the two increasingly frustrated men prepare to leave.
“If you do remember anything, please call.” A small paper card displaying a string of numbers is presented to him. “You’ll have to come down to the station and give an official statement once the hospital clears you as well so don’t forget. We’ll get in contact if any arrests are made regarding the perpetrator.”
Kakashi knows enough about investigations to recognise that one, the two standing next to his bed were searching for some specific information and had found Kakashi’s responses lacking, and two, they had no idea who Kakashi was and knew even less about how he might have gotten here.
In the end, they just leave. No threats. No mind games. No attempts to arrest or move him to a secure location for further questioning. Nothing. Kakashi follows after the pair, pausing behind his door to listen to the two talk just outside his room. Officer Takata is obviously angry going of his slightly uneven breathing.
“That was a waste of time,” he grumbles.
“Do you think he was lying?”
“Oh, that smiley bastard definitely knows something more than he is letting on. Tch. Memory problems my ass…”
The is a pause before the younger man asks, “still think it’s connected to that Hero Killer sighting from a few days ago?”
“If he is telling the truth then no. The stabbing lines up with the Hero Killer’s MO but the target is all wrong. There is no Kakaski with a ‘sharingan’ quirk listed on the Registry or as any Hero, Sidekick or Hero agency employee. If he did have a run-in with the Hero Killer, it wasn’t targeted. Probably annoyed the guy into stabbing him if anything.”
There is the sound of footsteps as the two men begin to retreat down the hall.
“A dead-end then.”
“Yeah, looks like it.”
“What a shame. I thought for sure, what with the extent of the injuries, that this was a Hero Killer case. Perhaps it was another Villain? Or a vigilante maybe?”
“Who though? Hosu doesn’t have any active Vigilantes or big-name Villains. Not ones who go around stabbing people to that extent. You saw the hospital report. The man was seconds away from bleeding out and that head wound was obviously aimed at disabling his quirk.”
“Tch. Without any leads, we have nothing to go on. And if Kakashi is a Villain or criminal himself, there’s no evidence and nothing we can pin him with other than a fine for carrying banned weaponry.”
The voices grow fainter as the two walk further away from his room. They seemed suspicious but not overly concerned with Kakashi’s lies so it is not a huge surprise that nothing came of the interview. Despite their obvious irritation, their response had been ones of mild annoyance and moderate distrust. If either of them had had a kekkei genkai it hadn’t been used. Perhaps, their abilities weren’t suited to interrogation. Kakashi had been obtuse enough that surely, they would have been tempted if it were a possibility. It does conform to a general trend in which people underestimate his threat level, treating him like a civilian. It was probably for the best.
Kakashi returns to his bed and stares at the paper card with the numbers. Obviously, they expected him to know what to do with it. Something to do with communication. Probably related to the small plastic devices nearly everyone in the building carried and spoke into on occasion. A radio of some sort. He had seen a few with numbers running across them.
From the exchange, he has a few more points to consider and mull over. Villain. Hero. Vigilante. He knows these terms, has heard people in his ward mention them before and knows they are important in some way.
…
Having a new room meant he needed to relearn everyone’s schedules. While doing so, he finally pinpoints why the people here feel so off. They lacked a level of…weariness…vigilance…that was both hard to describe and hard to notice until it wasn’t there anymore. Kakashi eyes the young nurse as she enters his room yawning, fixing her hair up as she walks, talking over her shoulder at someone behind her.
He had always thought the civilians of Kohoha lived free from most trouble. Not completely relaxed but still having a calm enough life. Well, calm when the village wasn’t being invaded. Now, he is revaluating that opinion. When compared with these people, Kohoha civilians were stiff, suspicious, almost paranoid. Konoha’s people had hardiness to them, a useful trait when living in a Hidden-Village. They were especially wearily when it came to interacting with shinobi no matter how banally and harmless the shinobi acted. It was an attitude to be expected when there was a very real chance of deadly injury should the shinobi be unfriendly or unstable. A very real possibility with all the war and ever-present threat of enemy invasion and chakra monster attacks.
Or maybe that was just his own experience as he never really interacted with many civilians and he his reputation wasn’t great.
“Hello Kakashi, how are you this evening,” The nurse greets him with a relaxed grin. He gives his bland smile and watches as she checks the various medical apparatus around Kakashi’s bed.
“I talked to the ward supervisor about your television. It should be working now.”
“Is it?”
Kakashi knows what a television is…they had a few of them in T&I, used for surveillance, and for a few more for monitoring remote training grounds like 44’s Forest of Death.
“Here is the remote. There are quite a lot of channels so now you’ll have something to keep you entertained.” He stares at the metallic rectangle object. He thinks that there might be a cultural difference between his understanding of a television and the nurse’s because watching an interrogation was never something he found particularly entertaining.
“Maybe it will help jog your memory as well.” The nurse gives him an encouraging smile before returning to her work.
Kakashi examines the object, bemused, “Ah, thank you Ms.”
“My name is Iori Ie I handle this ward on weekday evenings. I’ll be happy to answer any other questions if you have any. Anything to make this transition process easier.” She is sincere in her next assurance, “Just you wait, by the time your injuries are healed, we’ll have you right back up to speed.”
Television is…interesting and somewhat baffling. It’s not that Kakashi hasn’t seen examples of this sort of technology before now, it is just the availability and use he finds strange. Whereas a sensible village might hoard any new technology of its own use, here it is distributed and shared without limit. There was one of these things in every patent’s room! The same went for the information it communicated. Information so undervalued there was almost too much of it. Kakashi gives up trying to make sense of anything a few days into gaining access to the television and its hundreds of ‘channels,’ pumping out a constant stream of information. Some of it was obviously fictional, movies, entertainment, but most of the time it was hard to tell if what he was looking at was staged or if he was misreading a cultural difference. There were ‘channels’ devoted to daily status updates, delivering ‘news’ on everything from the weather, local politics, villain attacks, general crime and everything in between.
One thing he does confirm is that he is nowhere near any hidden villages or even on the continent, maybe not even in the correct world. This place was separate. This village or city as it was called, consisted of millions in a country of billions. There were more people in ‘Hosu’ than there were in the whole Fire Country. A logistics nightmare for sure. No wonder security was so lax around the hospital. Kakashi shakes his head and ends up switching off the television. Never would he have thought that having too much intel could be a bad thing.
“Ms Iori how would I go about getting something to read,” he asks the next day. She seems to be genuinely happy about his sudden sudden request. Kakashi hasn’t spoken or interacted much since waking, to busy trying to gauge whether the people surrounding him were threats.
He ends up with a pile of old manga volumes detailing the heroic adventures of some up and coming Hero protagonist and a stack of thin ‘magazines’ belonging to the nurse’s grown up son. The magazines are full of Hero analysis, speculation, and rumour like some sort of super detailed self-defeating bingo-book. He just…doesn’t understand why anyone would let this sort of information circulate.
At least now he has a better idea about what a Hero and Villain was. A Hero was this word’s shinobi equivalent- if shinobi went out of their way to draw attention to themselves- acting more like a police force in that they managed threats to civilians instead of taking commissions and repelling external threats. Actually, they were nothing like Shinobi apart from their use of blood line abilities in combat. A Villain was like a missing-nin, hiding among the ridiculously large civilian population…sort of…
He needs to start working on a way home because he definitely doesn't understand this world.
...
NOTE: When Kakashi discovers the internet his brain will explode.

Little Shit:
Part 1: Wrapped Around A Finger
This is for week 96 of @wackydrabbles prompt: I can't -- I have a deadline. Prompt will be in bold.
Okay, so I couldnt fit all of this into the 2000 word limit and had to break it up and didn't have the heart to cut.
@kingliam2019 you made a request for a Little Shit story on New Year’s Eve and it only took 5 months to come up with something, so this one is for you.
If you're unfamiliar with the Little Shit series (because it has been over a year since I wrote anything for it) Nikolas is Liam and Riley's 5 year old mischievous son who just can't help from wreaking havoc, especially toward Drake. He enjoys getting a rise out of him even if he does love his Uncle ... for the most part.
Warning: Crude Language. Mention of Covid and vaccinations.
Word count: 1928
-----------------------
Returning from the stables one afternoon, Drake was stopped at the palace door by security -- again -- for not wearing the required mask to enter.
“Mr. Walker, I’m afraid you need to have a mask on before I can allow you inside. I have to tell you this every day.”
“That because I fucking live here,” Drake grumbled as he snagged the offered surgical mask from the guard.
“Not in the common areas, Mr. Walker.”
“You know this whole virus thing is just a conspiracy and Liam is using it to control all of us, right? He’s gone mad. This shit’s never gonna end.”
“I understand, sir.” The guard waited patiently as Drake begrudgingly slipped the mask over his face. “Perhaps, though, there is an alternative, one where you wouldn’t have to wear one anymore. They’re offering free vaccines in room 105 today. If you get the shot, you won’t need to wear a mask when you come inside,” the guard cajoled.
Drake let out a humorless laugh.“I’m sure that’s exactly what Liam wants: make a guinea pig out of me. Pump me full of that radioactive shit and in five years I’ll have a tail growing out of my face. No thanks.” Drake disregarded the information and moved past the man.
“But, sir .. .they’re giving away bottles of whiskey to the first 100 recipients. Last I heard, they were close to reaching that number. Top of the line stuff too.”
Drake turned on the heel of his work boots, glaring back, before asking skeptically. “Whiskey? They’re giving away alcohol to get this damn shot?” The guard nodded in response.
“Glenfiddich -- 1955, I believe. The King paid for it himself.”
Drake’s eyes widened in disbelief. “That’s a $90,000 bottle! And they’re just giving them away if you get this shot?”
“I … um … yes. His Majesty wants to reward those who are doing their part to create a healthier and safer Cordonia. He won’t rest until every last citizen is vaccinated from this dreaded virus. We can all fight this … together. What do you say, Mr. Walker? Will you help stop the spread?”
“For a $90,000 bottle of whiskey? Hell yeah! I’ll grow two tails out my heads for -- hold on a damn minute …” Drake burrowed his eyes into the guard who was sweating bullets, desperate for him to leave. “Where the hell is Nikolas at? This whole thing reeks of him..” Drake’s eyes began darting around the perimeter in a feverish search for the little prince’s battery operated car. “That little shit is blackmailing you, isn’t he? I should have known.”
The guard straightened and answered in a solemn tone, “I’m a serious professional, Mr. Walker. And I take your accusations of being anything but, demeaning to the loyalty and oath I’ve given to the Crown. How dare you stand there --”
“Okay, okay. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to suggest otherwise.” Drake ran a hand down his weary face in frustration. “It’s just that kid is the bane of my existence. I’ve had a long, hard day at work and I’m in no mood for his fucking stunts.”
The guard waved him off. “Nah, don’t worry about it. I’ve heard all about the stuff he’s pulled on you.” He leaned in closer and spoke in a hushed tone, “Between you and me, he’s a little pain in my ass too; always coming down here acting like he runs this place. If you ever need help teaching that kid a lesson, I’d be happy to help.”
Drake arched a brow. “Loyalty to the crown, huh?” The man regarded that retort with an awkward shrug. “Yeah, he needs his ass busted, that’s for sure. Liam thinks he just needs a little more love. I’d like to show him the Bianca F. Walker way of love.” He slammed his hands together.
The guard chuckled. “I’m with you on that. He needs something done; he’s out of control … Anyway, you should probably head on up there and get your shot -- and whiskey -- before they’re all out. I wish I’d have waited to get mine until today.”
Twisting his face in doubt, Drake walked around the corner and leaned up against the wall as he pulled out his phone. Something just didn’t feel right, and he determined the safest thing to do was shoot off a quick text to his best friend.
Drake: Liam, are you really giving away Glenfiddich, 1955, to get the Covid vaccine?
He waited a brief moment until a response came through; he looked down at his phone and read:
Liam: Yes.
Drake: Is that all you have to say about that?
Liam: Yes.
Liam: I am in meeting for Cordonia.
Drake tilted his head to the side and scratched at it as he stared at the odd message. He typed out another response.
Drake: What kind of meeting for Cordonia? And with who?
Liam: Top secret. Can't tell you.
Drake: Uh-huh. Where’s Nikolas?
Liam: With Riley and baby in Vallteria
Liam: Shit. Valtoria
Drake: What’s the capital of the United States?
Liam: Damn it Drake I’m in a meeting!
Drake: Then hurry up and answer
Liam: Washington D.C.
Drake: Who shot me at the costume ball?
Liam: You son of a bitch. IM IN A MEETING!
Drake let out a heavy groan and decided to just call Riley. He knew without a doubt Nikolas took Liam’s phone again. If he called Riley, though, there was no way the boy could pretend he was her.
Picking up almost instantly, Riley answered cheerfully, “Hello. Queen Riley speaking.”
“Riley, it’s Drake. I was just wondering if you and Liam were really giving away whiskey for getting this shot? Sounds a little fishy to me.”
There was a moment of silence, then a clicking noise, followed by a long beep, before Riley replied. “Yes. We. Are. Giving. Away …. Whiskey. Get.The.Shot.Drake.”
“The hell is wrong with your voice?”
“I.Am.In.Valtoria.”
“Riley, why the fuck are you enunciating every word?”
“I. Have. A. Cold. And. Must.Talk.Slow. Nikolas.Is.With.Me. And. I. Must. Get ... Going. Bye. Drake ...You. Ass. Hole.”
Drake rolled his eyes and slipped the phone in his back pocket. “He’s got her phone, too. Damn that evil-ass kid.” He hesitantly made his way down to room 105; it wouldn’t hurt anything just to open the door and see if there was anything legit about this. As he approached, a lovely lady he knew from the kitchen exited with a big smile on her aging face and a bottle she cradled in her arms; he recognized it almost instantly as the Glenfiddich.
“Miss Milly,” Drake greeting kindly and held the door open for her. “You’re looking as lovely as ever.”
“Oh, you.” She laughed bashfully in her grandmotherly voice as she stepped into the corridor. “You’re always flirting with me, Drake. One of these days, I’m going to make you take me out on a date, buy me dinner, and give me a peck on the cheek at the end of the night.”
Drake smiled back fondly at her. “You just tell me when, Miss Milly, and I’m there.” He motioned to the bottle in her hand. “Say … couldn’t help but notice that bottle of whiskey you’re carrying around; where’d you get that at? That brand doesn’t come cheap.”
“Ohhh, I know. But I heard they were giving shots in that room right there.” She pointed with a crooked finger. “And they said I was the 99th person to stop by, and gave this to me after getting my shot. I couldn’t believe my luck. And they only have one bottle left. I can finally put my grandson through college.”
“That’s great! And you said there is still one more bottle left?”
She nodded her head. “Yes. But you better hurry. One of the chefs is on his way here for a shot as well.”
Drake hurriedly kissed her on the cheek and opened the door. Thank you, Miss Milly!” He stepped inside, then stopped and whipped his head back out the door. “Milly, wait. Have you seen Prince Nikolas today?”
“Yes, he left with the Queen after breakfast this morning. I believe they mentioned going to Valtoria.”
Drake rubbed his hands together anxiously and thanked her. He’d known the cook for years, she’s the sweetest person he knew. There was no way she would cover for Nikolas, and Drake couldn’t imagine the boy would have any dirt to hold over her head.
When the door shut, Nikolas grinned mischievously from a dark alcove where he was parked in his black 12V Mercedes Benz S63. “This is the day I’ve been waiting for.”
He set his laptop and both parents' phones in the passenger seat and slowly pulled out. He paid $100 to Milly and asked her to put the bottle back in his father’s liquor cabinet and rolled a few paces to room 105.
======
After filling out medical forms, the palace doctor ushered Drake behind a curtain where a long rectangular table and folding chair sat. Taking the seat, Drake watched the doctor slip on a pair of gloves and pull a small tube of lube out of his lab coat pocket. Drake furrowed his brows in confusion. “Heh. What’s the lube for?” he chuckled lightly. “I’m just here for a shot, man. Nothing else is going in me.”
“Just relax, Mr. Walker. It’s all part of the process.” A squirt of clear liquid was squeezed onto the doctor's two gloved fingers as he held them up. “On your medical forms you denied having a physical exam in the past year. I just need to do a quick exam and check for rectal polyps.”
Drake started laughing in amusement, though it didn’t quite reach his eyes. “You’ve got to be shittin' me. So let me get this straight. I can’t get a shot until you stick your fingers in my ass to check for ‘polyps?’ Yeah, that’s happening. What a bunch of horse malarky.”
The doctor let out an annoyed huff. “I see you didn’t read over the information forms. They never do,’ he mumbled. “Look, if you want me to wait here all day while you figure out what to do, I can’t -- I have a deadline to finish here. Now if you’ll move along, I have another patient waiting; you’re free to go.”
And Drake knew he was. But that expensive bottle of Glenfiddich was calling his name. He glanced over to that one last beautiful bottle sitting atop a desk on the far side of the room, calling his name. Selling it for even half of what it was worth would afford him enough to move the hell out of the palace and get the freedom from Nik he desired. Rubbing a hand over the scruff on his chin, Drake's timid gaze turned from the bottle to the doctor. He could handle a finger or two in ass for a few seconds if t made him $90,000 richer.
“Okay. What do I need to do?”
Nikolas quietly typed on the keyboard of his laptop from the opposite side of the curtain. The images from the hidden cameras plastered on the wall where Drake was seated popped into view on his screen. Feeding a link to, and overriding the broadcast feed at the CBC, Nik crouched down low and waited with little beady eyes for the exam to begin. “Perfect ...Okay, Doc, let’s see if you can get a hole in one.”
