Happy Saiyan day! I’m here with another DBZ fanfic to celebrate our favorite boys! This one is a Goku x reader, once again where the reader’s gender isn’t specified so you can put yourself right into the story!

I’ve never written a Goku x reader before because I don’t FO him, but I hope you guys like it nonetheless! The Vegeta one is already up on my blog as well. Enjoy! :)

“I still don’t get it, can you explain it one more time?” Goku asked, scratching behind his head and laughing awkwardly. You wanted to face palm at the idea of him not understanding it after four explanations, but simply laughed instead. He wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, but he was a sweetheart and had his ‘smart’ moments (sometimes).

“Okay, today is March 18th,” you started again, taking his hands in yours and running your thumbs across the tops of his. You stared up at him, dressed in your favorite casual clothes while he stood in that bright orange gi of his. At times it felt like it was the only piece of clothing he owned, but you had to admit he looked good in it.

“Yeah yeah yeah I got that part!” He huffed, squeezing your hands softly. “It’s the rest of it I don’t get!”

“Okay well, if you shorten it, it kind of sounds like ‘saiyan’ in Japanese.”

Goku narrowed his eyes at that, removing his hand from yours to rub at his chin. “Yeah, but why is that important?”

Now you were laughing again, “you’re a saiyan, Goku.”

Now he was laughing with you as he smacked his hand to his forehead. “Oh yeah! I guess I am, aren’t I?”

“Yes you are you goofball.”

“But I still don’t get one thing,” he replied, looking around as the two of you walked through a park in west city. The sun was still rising, and the weather was nice during the springtime. Not too hot, not too cold, the grass was green and flowers were starting to blossom. There wasn’t many clouds in the sky, and the leaves on the trees made beautiful sounds when the wind brushed through them.

“What would that be?” You asked, intertwining your fingers with his and beginning to continue your walk down the trail.

“Why are we celebrating it?”

“Well,” you said, kicking a pebble with your foot and watching as it tumbled over the dirt trail, “we don’t know when your birthday is. So… I figured that we could have a little celebration for you today instead.”

“Oh! I guess that makes sense then!” Goku smiled again, his spiky black hair swaying a bit in the breeze. A few leaves tumbled down from the trees around you and got caught in his hair, which he quickly swatted away. “What about Vegeta and Broly? They’re saiyans too!”

You rolled your eyes as you smirked, “yeah, but you’re my partner. It’s different.”

“Well they should have celebrations too!” He huffed, puffing out his cheeks and pouting a bit.

“And they can! But today is for you, Goku,” you kissed the top of his hand gently, causing him to blush a bit as he watched you. “You do so much for so many people; you’re the Earth’s savior! You deserve to have a day dedicated to you for once.”

“Yeah, but I like defending the Earth!” Gods his smile was infectious. How was he always so upbeat like this? So carefree? He pulled his hand away as he punched his fist into his open palm, “I get to fight tons of powerful guys because of it! And we’ve made so many new friends too!”

“I know you like fighting, but you like eating and seeing your friends too,” you giggled, poking his side.

He gasped at that, covering his mouth slightly. “No way! Are we going to get food somewhere?”

You shook your head as you smiled, “that’s my Goku. Always thinking with his stomach.” You poked him again and he giggled, swatting your hand away from his orange gi.

“Stop it, that tickles!”

As you made your way through the trees of the park you paused as you reached a bench. “Hey Goku?”

“Yeah?” He asked, head swiveling so his eyes could meet yours.

“I’m gonna blindfold you for a bit, is that okay?”

“Sure! I mean, I trust you with my life! A blindfold isn’t a big deal!”

You quickly pulled out a piece of fabric as Goku sat on the bench. You stepped behind him, wrapping the fabric around his eyes and tying it behind his head gently. “There. Is that uncomfortable at all?”

“Nope! It’s perfect!” He grinned. “Just like you!”

You could feel your cheeks heat up at that but didn’t comment anything else. You placed a quick kiss on his cheek as he blushed. “Was that why I had to wear the blindfold?”

“No, I have something else planned. Come on we’re almost there.” You took his hand in yours again as he stood. You lead him carefully through the rest of the trail, making sure to knock any larger rocks or branches out of the way so the taller saiyan wouldn’t trip on anything; he was clumsy enough without the blindfold, he didn’t need any added obstacles when he couldn’t see.

“I love you.” He said randomly, causing you to freeze as he crashed into you, making you to fall forward a bit. “Woah! Hey are you okay?”

You brushed yourself off and laughed, standing back up as he lifted up his blindfold to check on you. “I’m fine. I love you too, Goku, but now you ruined the surprise!”

“What surprise? I- WOAH!” He exclaimed, pulling the blindfold off entirely and glancing around the clearing laid out before him. There was a few picnic tables set up with snacks and a few gifts, a portable grill lit not too far away. Sitting at the table or standing around it were Goku’s friends, all of which were sharing laughs and turned to see Goku when he yelled.

“Goku!” Krillin exclaimed, running up to the two of you and tackle-hugging his best friend. “Long time no see man!”

“Woah Krillin!” Goku grinned back, lifting his shorter best buddy off the ground. “It’s good to see you too!”

“Happy Saiyan day, Goku,” Eighteen smiled, giving a quick nod in his direction before sipping on a beer.

“Yeah! Next time don’t wait til your partner calls us all to hang out!” Bulma yelled from her spot next to Vegeta. “You shouldn’t be training so much!”

“He doesn’t train enough,” Vegeta grunted. He glanced at you, not saying anything to Goku about why he was there. You were surprised he had even shown up.

Piccolo and Roshi waved as well, and Krillin walked back over to the group to finish telling Yamcha his story. Goku looked at you and flashed that smile of his, bending down a bit to kiss your forehead. “Thanks for all of this. I love you so, so much. I can’t believe you’d do all this for me!”

You quickly kissed him on the lips and hugged him tightly, his body tensing up as a shiver ran down his spine. “I love you too, Goku. You deserve all of it and so much more.” With that the party started with a bang, and you were happy to show your love just how much he meant to not only you, but the rest of your friends as well. Saiyan day would make a great tradition for the years to come.

Good questions! (1 & 4 is gonna be long XD)

Before I answer #1 I want to do some background info: After Time Commander (Super-Sons villain) got humiliated & jailed by Jake, Mar’i & Nightwing (mar’i burned his outfit leaving him naked & Jake gave him a wedgie). He busted out after a week & went back in time to make sure the kids weren’t born by killing Nightwing. (Note: Nightwing & Starfire went on a honeymoon, so it’s just Jake & mar’i by themselves for a few days). Time Commander (John Starr) found a newly trained Robin roaming the streets for a test for Batman. But the kid was tougher than he looks, Starr had a sore jaw & a sore crotch & both fell into a portal going back to the future & he ran away to rethink strategy. Robin (Dick Grayson) tried to find him but instead found two twins fighting a group of thugs.

1: Mar’i & Jake were trying to solve the mysterious case of the Tally Mark Slasher (hint hint 😉) (also Jake was wearing a Robin outfit for the giggles) when they met Robin & realize that he was their dad when he was their age & tried their best not to mess up the timeline. So the three of them decided to help each other’s problems & send Robin back to the past. (Without revealing too much info about themselves) After a few hours kicking butt & interrogation thugs, they managed to find the killer himself, frozen in time: Victor Zsasz, & Time Commander himself stealing money (cause reasons XD) the three of them mange to stop Time Commander & put him in handcuffs for the cops. Before Robin leaves back to his time, he has something to ask:

Robin (Dick Grayson): How important is me being Robin?

Jake: really important! hundreds of sidekicks wouldn’t exist without your influence, & all thanks to you, we are able to live because of you, you gave everybody hope! You’re the heart of sidekicks.

Mar’i: yeah, what he said.

The three hugged before Robin goes back to the past…….Victor Zasasz was freed from time freeze & was in handcuffs, confused on why his pants were around his ankles, underwear pulled up from his butthole, & some childish drawings were on him; especially a Robin symbol on his chest. (*wipes sweats on forehead* darn I need a break XD)

2: Chris: Gohan, future trunks, gogeta, broly (dbz), Tokoyami, deku, shoto, Ochaco ( my hero academia), Obito, naruto, Kakashi, mintato, sasuke (Naruto)

Jon: Goku, (canon) goten, gotenks, gogeta, future trunks, hit. (DB) naruto (canon) sasuke, itachi, rock Lee (naruto) izuku, bakugo, all-might, shoto, (MHA) Luffy, ace, sabo, zoro, & chopper (one piece).

Jake: goku, gohan, vegito, cabba, broly. (Dbz) naruto, itachi, pain, (naruto) izuku, dabi, twice, all-might (MHA) luffy, sanji, chopper (One Piece).

3: yup XD & when Jai decided to use his speed full power he decides to taunt Chris either: pulling down his lower eyelid & sticks tongue out, gives the middle finger(s), show his bare butt & spanks it (maybe kisses his hand first) or saying meep meep! & speeds off leaving Chris in the dust.

4: yes, but as a one off villain, let me explain: I do like the idea of zod escaping from the Phantom Zone years later instead of a few days (great idea bud) but instead of joining zod because of his “background,” Chris was a sleeper agent (in my universe).

When space pirate Amalak (from new earth’s Superman comics) invades earth (when Chris was 12) to hunt down Kryptonians, he accidentally triggers Chris’s “sleeper agent code”: zod. (By telling Chris he looks just like him) days later, at night, Chris sneaks off to the fortress of solitude & frees zod & 30 other kryptonian criminals from the zone, kneeling to them.

The next day, zod & the criminals did an invasion in Metropolis. (As seen in the Last Son book) the superfamily (Clark, Kara, Karen, Kon, Jon 11, & krypto)the justice league, Young Titans, & the special police force with kryptonite weapons defends the city; The only kryptonians left were zod & Chris (Some were taken down non-lethally & the rest killed). After seeing NightStar gets trapped by broken buildings, Chris breaks free from his programming, & unleashed a power nobody ever seen before: Dark Phantom mode.

(In my universe, after a beaten by his dad, Chris was thrown outside the prison where he was born, slowly dying from the pain, when suddenly, a mystical blue dragon called NightWing (who created the zone in my universe; a myth) appeared out of nowhere & went into his body as pure energy to heal him & gave him unique abilities that needed to be unlocked somehow.)

Chris (in the present) with Superman, fought Zod (a less brutal version of the invincible vs conquest fight) & snaps zod’s neck (like man of steel) using his darkness powers to save Superman from being killed. Chris screamed in pain & sadness, being comforted by his “dad” Superman. A fe days later, Superman takes Chris in outer space saying you belong here, you belong. Then, they went back down to earth to their home in Hamilton county & did a big group hug with his “family.”

5: since they’re kids, probably between 8-10; on the feet, stomach, rib cage, & on the thighs when grabbed.

You were taken by HYDRA from a really young age. You never knew your parents, you never knew what a normal life is like. All you knew was that you were supposed to fight and follow orders. Up until the avengers were told about you. They were told that HYDRA is working on a new weapon, so Steve, Natasha, and Clint where sent on a mission to capture you so you don't become danger to civilians.

When they reached to the HYDRA facility and saw that you were just a small teenager, their heart was broken. They knew that they probably kidnapped you when you were so young, and you had a really small and thin body for your age, that only means that you were starved all the time.

You had the ability to shoot electricity from your body. This ability is connected to your emotions, so when you are scared or angry, electricity shoots everywhere and hits everything. Usually when this happens, your abilities is completely out of your control. Their only shot at you was to knock you unconscious so you can't hurt them.

When they brought you to the compound, you were not happy. You kept screaming at them and telling them to let you go or you'll kill them. "I don't think that would be possible, kid," Tony said. You furrowed your eyebrows at his comment. What does he mean? "See those cuffs? Yeah, they block your abilities," He responded. You looked down to get a better look at them and that's when you noticed that they did not look like normal cuffs.

"Why are you doing this? just let me go!" You screamed. "We think you are too young to be a bad guy and too young to be controlled by the bad guys, so we thought it is best to allow you to train with us. So, what do you think?" Clint answered. You looked at the situation you were in and thought you had no other choice than to let them train you, so you said yes.

You weren't trusting them at your first days there, but as time passed, you started becoming more and more open with them. You enjoyed how you enjoyed playing a video game with Peter and Tony bought the console and the game for you the next day. Or when you were walking past Steve and he ruffled your hair. Or when you sit beside Nat and she wraps her arms around you and slightly squeeze.

You kept hearing about another avenger that was out for a mission for the past month, apparently named 'Bucky', you have never heard of an avenger with such name, so you were kind of nervous to meet him. Everyone told you that he was coming home soon, so you were more and more nervous by the day.

You woke up a bit late this morning since you stayed up playing your new video game with Peter, so you expected everyone to be at work or training, but you were surprised when you saw them all at the common room. You felt like you weren't at the compound anymore, you felt like you were back at the HYDRA facility. You started remembering the times where you were injected with all sorts of chemicals, or where you were physically and verbally abused by them. Without feeling it, electricity started charging around your body as you felt more breathless.

"Y/N, kid, I need you to calm down," Steve said, trying to calm you down. But nothing worked. Your electricity started getting more and more charged. "Why did she react that way??" Tony asked and looked at Bucky. "We know each other from HYDRA, she is probably having flashbacks," He said, feeling guilty.

"Y/N Honey, it's okay, everything is okay," Natasha said, grabbing the gloves that does not make her get electrocuted from your power. The avengers used that sometimes when your powers got a bit out of hand. "It's okay, you're not there anymore," Nat said, slowly putting her hand on your shoulder to make you feel that you are not there anymore.

"It's okay, keep breathing, your doing well," She said when she noticed that you started breathing better and your powers started lowering. "That's it, you're okay," she said, slowly rubbing your shoulder. "I'm so sorry," You said, breaking to your knees. "No, don't be sorry, you did nothing wrong," She said, hugging you close to her chest and kissing your forehead.

"I'm sorry Bucky," You said, shaking. "It's not your fault, you've seen a lot of shit," He chuckled. You smiled softly looking up at him.

He opened an arm in offering, which you gladly took, snuggling into the safety of his cocoon-like hold.

“We’ll get you some Senzu beans later, okay?”

“Okay,” you leaned against an arm.

“Get some rest for now.”

“Can I stay here with you?”

“…Yeah, I won’t move.”

 

Vegeta

“Did Kakarot do this?!”

“What?”

“I should kill him for doing this to you! I told him to stop harassing you about sparring!” he growled.

“Vegeta—”

“That idiot went too far--!”

“Vegeta! Listen!”

He paused in the middle of putting on his shoes, “What?”

“Goku didn’t do this. So, don’t go trying to kill him.”

“Then who did?”

You looked down, “The…”

“The what? Speak louder, dear.”

“The…stairs…”

You expected laughter.

“Vegeta?”

He walked off, making you frown.

“Are you that amused by my clumsiness? You could at least say something.”

“Shut up and sit down on the bed,” he called from the bathroom.

With furrowed brows, you obliged, fighting to hide a smile when he retuned with a first-aid kit.

“I’m not a complete ass,” he muttered, kneeling in front of you to put ointment of your cuts first.

 

Goku

“Oh my gosh! [Name]! What happened?!” he gaped as you opened the door.

“Well—”

“Did Vegeta do this?” he suddenly frowned.

The unexpectedly dark expression stunned you, “I—Uh, no. This has nothing to do with him.”

“Good,” he smiled brightly, “Then what happened, sweetheart?”

“Umm…”

How could you explain this and still keep dignity?

He looked at you so warmly…you couldn’t lie to that face.

“I fell down the stairs earlier.”

“I see. I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you.”

You snorted, “You can’t always protect me from the stairs, Goku.”

“I know. But it still sucks—Hey, why don’t I make you something good to eat?” he offered a goofy grin.

 

Frieza

“Which pathetic slime ball do I have to kill?”

“What?”

“Who dared to do that to you?” his gaze flickered over your form.

“It wasn’t a person, it was the…stairs…”

“The stairs?”

“Yes.”

“The…stairs?”

“Yes?”

His shoulders shook in laughter.

“It’s not funny! I’m already embarrassed enough…”

Then as he lifted his head, you saw he wasn’t smiling in amusement.

“I’ll return promptly, I must find whoever made those stairs.”

“Wait, Frieza—”

 

F. Trunks

“What happened?  Who hurt you? Are you crying?”

“Not yet…”

“Who did this?” He lifted your head from your hands.

Ah, he looked like he wanted to hold you close forever and pummel someone at the same time.

“Nobody hurt me. I just fell down the stairs…I feel like a clumsy baby deer.”

“Oh, let me get you some ice.”

You yelp is surprise as he easily picked you up, gently avoiding the bruised areas.

“I thought you said you’d get me ice!”

“I am, but I’m not leaving you there.”

He sat you on the counter, before digging in the freezer for some ice.

 

Beerus

“You fell down the stairs?”

“Yes, Beerus. I told you this three times now.”

“Hm.”

“Go ahead and laugh—”

“These stairs must be destroyed, direct me to them, so I can obliterate them,” he crossed his arms.

“Why?”

“I uh…fell down the stairs.”

In a blur, you had an ice pack in your hand, you were on the couch wrapped in a blanket, and Gohan was fixing up your other wounds.

i’ve began reading OHSHC and i’ve seen a little bit of the anime. i keep reading haruhi as transmasc/non binary, so sometimes i get confused when the characters use “she/her,” pronouns for them. overall i do like the series :> i like the twins a lot and haruhi

haruhi is VERY nb/transmasc like!!! my personal headcanon is that they are bigender being both demigirl and transmasc but fall under the nonbinary label and use any pronouns..... yes it is complicated but haruhi is my girlboyfriend and i care for him so so so Much.

I'm glad you like it so far tho!!! I need to read the manga, I haven't yet. I dunno if I will bc it's overwhelming to me to get tasked with that but I do see a lot of panels and pages from it and it seems very funny. Plus a lot of stuff in there doesn't make it to the anime/stuff that doesn't get resolved in the anime does in the manga. But the anime is just so fun, especially the english dub.... caitlin glass was the literal perfect choice for Haruhi and also she did a great job directing the anime too iirc. Also I just looked her up on wikipedia and she did Whis's sister in Dragon Ball Super??? www

Also the anime does just have an iconic voice cast with both Todd Haberkorn and Greg Ayres doing the twins. I LOVE greg's voice so much and it makes Kaoru really unique with his voice. the one downside is that they sound.... nothing alike.... unlike the Japanese dub where their voices are very similar. So this makes the "Which one is Hikaru?" game make like 0 sense in english lol which one is hikaru well obvious the one who isn't a chain smoker

Also Vic Mignogna (despite the... '''history''') does a VERY good Tamaki and I adore it. He's also Broly in dbz/dbs which!! I love dragon ball super: broly so that is awesome to hear. Speaking of Greg is Frost in that series too. Then again, I think if you're in anime, you've voice acted at least 1 character in dragon ball... also Michael Tatum as Kyoya is perfect.

(btw Tamaki's japanese va is the same va as light yagami..... keikaku)

SDBH commentary - episode 32 (spoilers ahead!)

Well, it's a weird time to do it, but each episode is less than 10min so whatever.

As always, prepare for rants more than anything lol. And random commentary.

- Power scaling is weird in SDBH........ IN DBS. I mean, it made more sense in DBZ? (Can't remember if the Buu saga was a mess of power scaling or not, but I feel like it was)

- Show me more of my psychopathic legendary husbando, please. Even if the animation is poop. Even if they made his face all roundish. And the noses weird (Girl, I hate the DBS/SDBH noses soooo much)

- Fuu created his new universe! And it's a tiny ugly thing, lol.

- Angy Monke fusion.

- Fuu being obsessed with his experimentation process, lol. At least he stays in character throughout.

- Lol. Towa and Robel going kind of magical girl on us with their "demon god" transformation hahaha.

- Demigra makes a move!

- Also, I hate the fights. They're soooooo booooooring. They lack dynamism.

I don't like the fights. I need dynamics other than "ki! bam! screen shaking to show us that they're powerful!" over and over and over again. Give us the martial arts, DAMMIT!

As a former martial artist (because I've not practiced in a decade, shame on me), one thing I've always loved in DB and DBZ (well, until it changed into a big ki fest, lol, mostly in the Buu saga, I think? Would have to rewatch the Cell games to really see if there's fight-fight to go along the ki-fight) is the way that the moves were depicted in such a beautiful and dynamic manner. Look at the Garlic jr. film with baby Gohan, when Goku comes in and begins to fight the baddies. Gorgeous. Perfection. Magnificent.

What we've got in SDBH? Bleh. Uninteresting. For a series built on martial arts, the martial arts are kind of absent in most of the current material (DBS: Broly, once again, shows its superiority over anything done in the series until then, lol. The beauty of the animation and the MOOOOOVES. Damn, the fights were orgasmic in that film), which is a pity.

We barely saw my sadistic monke husbando, which is always sad. He's so beautiful, even with the horrendous noses and animation of whatever the hell this is (can you feel the salt?).

Still confused on what the heck Demigra is doing here.

Fuu is best boi. I think I like him so much 80% because of the original voice acting. It's perfect.

The plot is, as always, confusing or really badly exploited. Like, I get the anime is a small little promotional thing and that the animators and all the people working on it are paid nothing and put under lots of pressure, but it's tiring as a fan too. Toei, instead of greedily milking that cow till its death and giving us bad quality content should let the creators have the time they need to make a proper animation, build a proper story, pay them fairly and finally have the fans being as happy as they can be. Am I asking for too much? I don't think I am.

Another criticism that I will never shut about because I WON'T and I NEED: BLOOD. I need blood in this franchise. It's not made for children. It's not made for children. Ok, it's a shonen, its target audience is early-teen/pre-teen boys. SO. WHERE. IS. THE. FREAKING. BLOOD!!!!

Finally, WHERE THE HELL ARE MY CHILDREN????????? Again. the Xeno crew outside of (*le big sigh*) Veggie and Goku is left on the side because it's not enough to fan service or whatever the heck it is that they always give us Goku and Veggie. NO! Now they have to give us TWO Gokus and TWO Veggies. And, yes, I love the Xeno crew in its entirety. Xeno Goku acts way less dumb than main Goku (as he should, Goku is not dumb. Goku is silly and 100000% has ADHD, but he IS. NOT. DUMB. - another reason I hate 95% of DBS outside of the Broly film, lol) and the wholes Xeno crew is stunning. And I NEED MORE PAPA GOHAN AND PANNY, pleaaaaaaaaaaaaase, for the love of all that is good in this world!

Anyways. I think next time I'm watching an episode, it's going to be with a glass of wine. Need to buy more white wine though, because we only have red left, and I HATE red wine (urk).

I like many other kids who had Toonami growing up saw DBZ and went "holy shit this is incredible". That being said I didn't really get into the series until I read the manga from the start not too long ago. The manga is my main frame of reference for everything

I’m a verified Son Family Appreciator. I love them all to death and I will protect them with my life. This blog’s name is a reference to the Son family days actually (5/7, 8, 9, and 10). They’re all frequent fliers on this blog.

Goku is my favorite character by a Lot. I find him to be not only adorable but also fascinating. He’s just incredible. After him, I’d say Chichi, Gohan, Future Trunks, S Broly, Piccolo, and Goten are the ones you’ll see me yelling about the most. I’m also on Krillin, Yamcha, and Tien hype duty because they deserve it

Gochi is my biggest ship by far so expect a Lot of them here. After that I’m a fan of basically all the married ships to varying degrees. I don’t particularly care about other ships after that, but I support you and your ship endeavors anyway. I tag every ship I rb or talk about. That being said, the only ship I actively don’t like t/rumai since I find it to be creepy due to the de-aging thing. That’s the last I’ll say about it here though unless asked directly. I really don’t want to be very negative on here

That Raditz never intended to hurt anyone while he was on earth. I believe that he fully expected Goku to remember him and come with him without hesitation. He’s also surprisingly gentle with Gohan while he has him. He doesn’t hurt anyone until things start going sideways and he begins to panic. He’s not concerned with anything but bringing his brother back to his prince, and then bringing Gohan too when he sees him. And I fully believe that the whole they needed another Saiyan to conquer the planet they were trying to subdue was a cover because Frieza monitors the Saiyans through their scouters really closely. I am 100% convinced the real reason they wanted Goku was because they thought they could take Frieza down if they had one more man.

Unpopular opinion

Raditz wasn’t weak. He was weak compared to Vegeta and Nappa because no shit he’s not as strong as the prince of all Saiyans and the commander of the entire Saiyan army. But it took two of the strongest characters on the entire show to take him down, and one of them fucking died. When Frieza (well, King Cold, I guess) conscripted the Saiyans into his service, they maintained a lot of their autonomy in both their military and government. So it’s a pretty good bet that either King Vegeta put together his son’s squad, or he allowed Nappa to put it together. Either way, do you honestly think either one of them would have even considered putting Raditz in that squad if he were truly weak? Hell no. And yes, I know that Vegeta was “given” to Frieza, but I doubt very much that Frieza was involved in choosing Vegeta’s squadmates, or else he likely would have put Vegeta in a group with a bunch of other races

WHY SAIYANS AREN'T THE GREATEST RACE 🙊

(But Saiyans have more potential than other races.)

So here's why I disagree with Saiyans being the greatest & strongest race. Many factors have to take place in order for Saiyans to get stronger.

POWER

The strongest that full-blood Saiyans could get with the best training is SS3 levels.

Maybe Saiyans could reach higher levels without god ki if we take GT into account, otherwise, SS3 appears to be the max. A Saiyan's max attainable power with the best training could be Vegito levels of power before they get too old & are unable to fight or they die of old age.

But keep in mind that Goku said not even fusion could defeat Beerus.

Goku had to do a ritual & train with an Angel just to attain god ki. (Other races may have something similar to the ritual. Other races could also train with Angels. Like Toppo.)

Most Saiyans weren't pure of heart or righteous. SSG could possibly be achieved by very few, but keep in mind that Saiyans don't have deep training & aren't spiritual as a culture. They would not know how to get as strong as Goku had learned.

TRAINING & SPIRITUALITY

Vegeta started training hard during the android saga. His reason for training was because he saw how beneficial training was for a low-class Saiyan like Goku, who became the legendary Super Saiyan before a royal Saiyan elite could.

Its important to note that Goku was raised as an Earthling, learned Earthling martial arts & he developed spiritual insight that Saiyan culture doesn't seem to have. Also Goku trained with 2 gods (Kami & King Kai) and acquired further power to rival Saiyan saga Vegeta. He then surpassed Vegeta in power & far surpassed him in skill because of his Earthling training.

And realistically it would be difficult for most Saiyans to even achieve the Super Saiyan transformation. They would solely rely on the Oozaru transformation. A select few elite warriors/royal Saiyans might get strong enough to achieve Super Saiyan. But from what we know about Saiyan training, it would be a very very long time before they could achieve Super Saiyan. Only the Super Saiyan transformation could even be as far as they could get.

Like I stated earlier, Vegeta was motivated to train after he saw how beneficial training was for Goku (who has Earth training & trained under 2 gods). If Vegeta never met Goku, Vegeta probably would never achieve Super Saiyan. On their own, Saiyans would most likely never see benefits of such training. They are a warrior race that see death-battles as the best training.

Goku who has martial arts training focused on self improvement, godly training, & spirit control training from the Yardrats understood how to train and conquer the Super Saiyan transformation. That's knowledge Saiyans dont have nor would their culture care about.

So lets say we give a few Saiyans the Super Saiyan transformation. I don't think Saiyans would share the knowledge of Super Saiyan with each other. Stronger ones would suppress the weaker ones until Saiyan society collapses or a civil war breaks out that would result in many casualties.

Goku saw the flaws in just buffing up the muscles of Super Saiyan. Vegeta who has a lack of deep training and Saiyan thinking, he did not see the flaws. He isn't trained the way Goku is. Being a martial artist & spiritual gave Goku a huge advantage over every other Saiyan. He was able to use his knowledge to push Gohan (a hybrid with Earthling principles) to reach Super Saiyan 2 even before a full blood Saiyan could.

Yes, Goku more than likely attained Super Saiyan 2 soon after he died. & more than likely, Vegeta attained it a few years after Cell was defeated. Goku was able to discover Super Saiyan 3 only because he was dead for 7 years & was able to train. His understanding of training and not having a physical body helped him achieve the new form.

No other full-blood Saiyan can achieve Super Saiyan 3 because of the training it takes & the toll it puts on the body. Goku barely even uses it in DBS for that reason (also because they are marketing SSG & SSB instead).

SCIENCE & ENVIRONMENT

Now if we go back to the point of attaining the Super Saiyan transformation, new information has told us that most Saiyans have a low amount of S-Cells; the cells needed in order to become a Super Saiyan.

Their way of life as being warriors who lived to fight all the time is why they could not build up S-Cells. S-Cells that are built up from a gently spirit (most Saiyans lack). Peaceful environments are necessary for this build up of cells. Saiyans naturally thrive for constant battle. The chances of Super Saiyan are even slimmer with S-Cells in mind.

UNIVERSE 6 SAIYANS

Universe 6 Saiyans are mostly good hearted & live much more peaceful lives than Universe 7 Saiyans. It would appear that the good Saiyans defeated the wicked Saiyans in Universe 6. So how come Cabba is somehow the first Super Saiyan? I guess Universe 6 Saiyans don't know how to train properly either.

And lets be honest, it was terrible writing how Cabba & Caulifla attained Super Saiyan. So you're telling me that not one Universe 6 Saiyan had never gotten angry over losing a close friend or family member while on the battlefield? Sure, whatever. Logically, since Cabba never saw Super Saiyan before, it can be said that Super Saiyan is either non-existent or only royal Universe 6 Saiyans have achieved it & keep it secret.

"But the tingly back thingy!"

If a tingly back was only necessary to attain Super Saiyan, then Goku, a master martial artist, should've taught that to Gohan so that Gohan wouldn't struggle so much during training to defeat Cell.

EDIT: Goku more than likely did teach Gohan the tingly back thing after Gohan became a SS. Mastered SS is not triggered by rage. The tingly back wkrks well if dont like this.

But rage is what Super Saiyan has always been activated from. We are still told that the transformations are emotional. Great anger/rage is how Super Saiyan is triggered

(DBS manga chapter 52 & information guides tell us that Super Saiyan is still triggered by rage.).

Caulifla not only achieved Super Saiyan within a days or few hours, but she achieved Super Saiyan 2 the next day! Gohan has the most potential out of all Saiyan because he is a hybrid with a good heart & had some of the best training to have. It DOES NOT make any narrative sense from all that we've learned & continue to learn about Super Saiyan transformations. And the way Caulifla got 2 transformation within 2 days belittles the efforts of Goku & Gohan for the sake of "Look! A female Super Saiyan!"

If Caulilfa can achieve Super Saiyan 2 after only having Super Saiyan for a day, why didn't Future Gohan easily tap into Super Saiyan 2 as well & defeat the androids? Such convoluted writing for Universe 6 Saiyans... 😑

Out of Universe 6's three Super Saiyans, only Kale's transformation seems reasonable because it is set up similar to DBZ Broly. Kale controlling her power within a few minutes in the anime was stupid tho... The manga handled Kake better because she never gained control of herself. But... she had enough sense not to kill opponents and drop them out of the arena... So did she have control or not? A berserker is out to kill, not drop you out of bounds so she isn't eliminated. 😓

Nevermind. Both handled Kale's Super Saiyan form wrong in different ways...

(I have a theory that Universe 6 Saiyans may actually be Saiyan/Earthling hybrids. Which is why its easier to get Super Saiyan and they don't have tails anymore. But that's a different discussion.)

BACK TO UNIVERSE 7 SAIYANS...

So about how strong a Saiyan could become on their own. I was being generous saying full-blood Saiyans could possibly get as strong as Vegito at most. That's more so something only Goku could attain. Saiyan culture & life, heart condition, lack of spiritual connection, & lack of good martial arts knowledge keeps them from growing. If they did train to get stronger then the most they can achieve would be Super Saiyan 2. The Super Saiyan God ritual would be attainable by some, but they could not absorb the power like Goku (thats because of his disciplined training) nor would Beerus allow Saiyans to keep causing havok. He planned to destroy them anyways.

And I'm sure that if one lone Saiyan achieved Super Saiyan on Planet Vegeta, Freeza would destroy the entire race out of fear. If Freeza somehow lost, Beerus would eventually destroy them.

LUCK & GENETICS

Goku, Vegeta, Broly, & Tarble were lucky and able to live different lives from the average Saiyan, be kinder beings or have their hearts changed (wouldn't happen for most Saiyans). Goku is the 1 in a trillion rare Saiyan that got the best training & he influenced surviving Saiyans to be more like Earthlings.

(But even after all the training Goku did in OG Dragon Ball, Raditz was much stronger than Goku. That means most low class Saiyans were around the same strength as Roshi & ChiChi.)

If we are generous and say some Saiyans could've achieved Super Saiyan 2 and would not try to kill each other, then they still lose to aliens like Piccolo, Krillin, Hit, Jiren, Ribrianne, Cell, or 16, 17, & 18.

Give Hit god ki and give him Angelic training to learn Ultra Instinct. He doesn't even have god ki & yet he can keep up with Goku who needed god ki to reach such power.

Broly would be the exception because he is a Legendary Super Saiyan & in a way a mutation too. But his power is uncontrollable. Imagine Broly snaped & tapped into that uncontrollable, monterous power on Planet Vegeta. All Saiyans there die within seconds.

Saiyans are very strong aliens. But other aliens are stronger or understand how to get stronger.

If anything, Saiyans have some of the best genetics & potential that give them a very high possible advantage. However, that is not a guarantee. But Earthlings & Namekians also have very high potential they can utilize along with knowledge far beyond Saiyans.

Being raised as an Earthling is the secret to Goku's power. Being half Earthling is the secret to Gohan's great power & potential. Its as if an Earthling's potential and training & a Saiyans potential and genetics are the perfect mix for a reason. Like they're branched from the same ancestor & are counterparts in a way. 🤔 (But that part's just another theory of mine.)

CONCLUSION

Without god ki, Goku loses to almost every opponent & enemy in DBS. Goku even says SSG is a power he couldn't achieve on his own. He was nearly at the peak of his power until he learned god ki.

And like I have stated, either ritual or Angelic training could be something any race could possibly utilize.

If you disagree that's fine. Disagreements aren't a bad thing. But if you say I'm wrong on something, show or cite evidence within the series (DBZ & DBS in particular) that says or shows otherwise.

All info shows us that most Saiyans would never be strong like Goku. It was luck & circumstance that Goku was not raised as a Saiyan but as an Earthling. Otherwise he would not have been unable to compete with Vegeta or Goku would've been destroyed on Planet Vegeta, killed on the battlefield, or quickly killed by someone stronger than him.

Please don't rebutt by saying things like "Well they're stonger than Earthlings." or "Their god forms are stronger than everyone else."

Those don't work.

If Earthlings trained like Goku (not like Saiyans because Saiyans don't train like that. Its an Earth thing💡) then some humans could surpass Super Saiyan 2. Evidence shows that Krillin & Tien & Yamcha have surpassed Namek saga Super Saiyan Goku. And they aren't addicted to training like Goku does. But when they do train, they make great leaps in power even without transformations.

God ki isn't something every Saiyan can learn (like Goku & Vegeta have) nor is god ki something exclusive to Saiyans. Look at Dende & Uub (DBS chapter 66). Goku being raised as an Earthling, trained as a martial artist, & training with lower gods is what aided his learning of god ki. Vegeta began to train diffetently after seeing a weaker Saiyan's results after training. Plus god ki had to be learned. I doubt Whis or Beerus would teach them if they were evil.
