ok ok one more “fuck latina!catra” post and then i’ll shut up about it forever. 

what does catra being latina add to her narrative? 

no, i’m not going to give you an answer, because that’s your opinion to dwell on. but i will list some stereotypes that latina/latinx people have to deal with (am excluding latino specifically because, well, catra identifies as a girl). 

* agressive/passive aggressive 

* angry 

* in need of a more “sophisticated” culture 

* sexy/heavily sexualized 

and for extra points, let’s list some things having to do with black!catra. because I see that floating around as well! and it gets worse from here. mind you that latinx is not just light skinned people, it’s afro-latinx too. though the culture of black and latinx people is not the same, the experience is very similar in America, especially when you have kinky hair, dark skin, and an accent to top it all off. 

*illogical 

*unable to handle her emotions

*ill tempered (not necessarily “angry”, but i’ll shove that in here anyway). 

*sassy, snappy attitudes. sharp mouth.

so, what does all of this add to her narrative? are young latina/black girls like me supposed to feel happy that the cat is of color? that’s still up to you. do with it what you will.
