Little round of @shortboxcomicsfair very casual doodles an recommendations. There are a lot of reads I'm enjoying a lot this year, and wanted to share appreciation for at least some of them.

We actually watched Year Hare Affair right before Paw Patrol, so pretty close.
Us: watching the climax of the Paw Patrol movie
Him: I thought they were going to kill the villain
Me: it's a kid's movie!
Him: I thought they were going to stage a coup!

Never particularly paid much attention to it, but I've suddenly noticed how often Chinese people, and specifically Chinese communists depict themselves as rabbits/bunnies. Is there any reason behind it or is it just a funny coincidence?
afaik mostly comes from the history show 那年那兔那些事/Year Hare Affair where china is depicted as rabbits. as for why the show did it, there are a few different possibilities: the ballad of mulan's ending lines; the fact rabbits are peaceful and populous; or 'rabbit' and 'comrade' sounding alike in some topolects

I just assumed Rabbit Village was supposed to be China, like Uncle Gom was apparently supposed to be the Soviet Union. The wikia says it’s a pretty popular idea, since Chinese law enforcement works closely with North Korea in catching escapees, although it has not been officially stated.
Although that could be influenced by The Year Hare Affair, a show where the countries are represented by animals, and China is made up of rabbits. Supposedly it’s in the same vein as Squirrel and Hedgehog (although it’s Chinese, and North Korea features), but I haven’t found the time to watch it.
I don't think there was ever an animal to represent the Chinese in SaH but for some reason I feel it'd be rabbits
