Okay I had this idea for a while now and I have no clue if it would be canon at all but. I gotta share it, I gotta -

So some context: I saw a series of post where it was like. A what if the Paldea + kitakami gang grew apart bc the mc left or something. I should be very clear this isn't any shade to those posts at all, cause I actually think it's super interesting to explore! But my mind went " okay what if I did the opposite".

So in my head I was like " What if Luca for some reason went off the grid and lost contact with his friends. But his friends still remained friends despite of it". Cause ya know, I thought it showed that their friendship wasn't reliant on luca being there. Don't get me wrong, it was tough: Luca was what brought them all together and helped them so much. Him not being there was hard- they were moments where they all thought their friendship was over. But it didn't! Their friendship prevailed! And it lasted all the way up till adulthood. This does include Kiki and Carmine! They all keep in touch with each other and their lives. But Luca? Pretty much no contact.

Which gets me into the shit that fucks me over with this idea/au- Luca himself. Luca is. Not happy. Not in the slightest. He left to pursue a dream that probably wasn't even his, and he continued to drift along in an uncomfortable sea of dissatisfaction. After a while it lead to him getting increasingly anxious: his friends all could be living happy fulfilling lives while he's stuck in this sea of nothing. She should be happy. She should be fulfilled, but they're not and it haunts them. He's too afraid to call his friends. After it's been so long and when she essentially ghosted them for literal years, they probably wanted nothing to do with them, right? Life moves on, and so should he. What really fucks me over with this idea/au is that Luca is just so. Hollow. He isn't as bright as he used to be. That charming, infectious smile, the shining light in his eyes- they're gone. He's more nervous than anything, putting on a soft fake smile that gets him through the day. It's like he's an entirely different person now.

R.B finds him. Naturally. How and why doesn't matter, what matters is that she finds him and drags his ass back to Paldea so they can confront his friends. Luca is not excited by this. He misses them dearly yes, but he isn't ready to see them ( then when will he?), but R.B is having none of it. So they go home and the reactions....vary.

R.b was the one that found him, and the one that dragged him back home. But she was never angry. Stern yes, but not angry. In fact she was more than willing to help Luca. She kinda acts as a mediator for the group.

Nemona is the one that hugs him first, acting as if he never left, treating him like she always had. She literally tackled him into a hug when seeing him again. I do think there's a tiny bit of leftover resentment and sadness from Luca leaving- one of the first people who finally Got her left - she tries to keep it positive! Really! But it had hurt back then and it still hurts now- she's choosing to focus on the fact that her bestest rival is back. Hopefully for good.

Penny is bitter, and I think she deserves to be. She had a deep fear of team star leaving her, and back then she just accepted it. But now that she's older? Now with Luca, who changed her life for the better? Who just up and left? Yeah she's bitter. She wouldn't have even been there if it weren't for R.B and Nemona. Though deep down she kinda blames herself. She can hack into the league easy peasy, but finding a friend in the Internet was something she never considered. She wonders if things would be different if she brute forced her way to Luca before the ghosting got bad. But overall? She's bitter. And again, I think it's deserved.

Arven feels betrayed. He has been for a long time. He was already abandoned once by his biological parents, twice by the ai versions of said parents, and the one person who he cares for so much just. Left. So was it all for nothing? Was everything they did together for nothing? Cause that's what it feels like. Early on the feeling was particularly bad, but with the help of everyone around him( and R.B n him pretty much being each other's rock ) by the time Luca comes back he isn't angry. He's simply distant....but also holding out some hope. He calls Luca "bud" now, which is so weird.

Kieran and Luca probably had to break up when Luca decided to leave in the first place - and even if they didn't then, they definitely did when Luca started ghosting. So when Luca came back I imagined Kieran wanting to be petty. So petty. "Show him what he missed" petty. But then he actually saw Luca and it was nothing Kieran had imagined. He was confused. Why wasn't Luca smiling like he used to. Why was the light in his eyes gone? Seeing Luca again pretty much put a halt on Kieran's planned bravado, and just left him utterly confused. He doesn't know how to act around him

Carmine is very good at putting on an angry front. Mainly bc she is pissed on the behalf of her brother who had gotten his heart broken. But as always, underneath that raging flame is someone genuinely worried. R.B still had to hold her back from pouncing Luca though.

And that's everything! Keep in mind this idea/au is all of them as adults, if I didn't make that clear already lol. this isn't canon exactly but I do love me some angst. Also please no I see Luca as a masc pinkie pie lmao.

Well obviously he is a Decepticon. His existence takes place in my AU Transformers Warforged [TFWF] and has a best friend named Fraightlock, now Friaghtlock isn't a Decepticon so Starscream (the Decepticon leader since Megatron is a prime now in my au) gets mad at him because he believes Fraightlock is just not "trustful" enough or could "backstab" Bullframe, but Bullframe doesn't believe it or care because they are literally the bestest of friends..

Bullframe was actually originally one of my first Transformer Decepticon ocs soo hip hip hooray for the school bus!!

He looked kinda ugly lmao..

But yeah- idk his personality is more built up, snarky, he likes to make out of pocket jokes and things. He has anger issues and can actually be pretty intimidating and mean sometimes.

Yeah I also really like the idea of Dumbledore kinda finessing what actually happened because what really went down was hella scary and taboo, "medieval people's idea of witchcraft" type, capital D Dark Magic TM. I also like the idea that maybe Dumbledore isn't just being a little dishonest with Harry, but also with himself. Because maybe Lily being willing to use that type of magic doesn't fit with Dumbledore's world view since she did it out of love for her child to defeat someone who Dumbledore has always viewed as inherently evil.

I think Lily was quite smart and powerful - probably more so than most people gave her credit for, but I think what really distinguished her was her force of will and nerve and willingness to push through any boundary to protect those she loves. I think a lot of the fandom tends to either ignore her or else turn her into this uber powerful super genius who was the bestest ever at magic and more powerful than anyone and smarter than anyone and to me that just kind of diminishes her. Just the way when you get a Mary Sue OC paired up with the author's favorite character du jour making them the best at everything and smarter and stronger and more popular than everyone just cheapens them rather than making them feel strong and real (kinda like how book 5 Ginny felt a million times more compelling as a character and a love interest than book 6 Ginny).

So yeah, I like Lily being smart and powerful but not outrageously so. I like the idea instead that what made her most unique was her nerve and force of will and determination. Where other people would have flinched. She didn't. She was willing to do WHATEVER it took to save her baby. (As an aside, I also don't like when people try to make her "cooler" or more "badass" by distancing her from motherhood. Not every woman wants to be a mom or makes motherhood their priority but many do, and neither choice is lesser. Lily's child was incredibly important to her - the most important thing in the world in fact. And I think ignoring that she really wanted to be a mother to her child and felt he was the most important thing in existence and was willing to do whatever it took to give him the best shot at living a full and safe life just robs her of her emotional core by making her character emptier and taking out a key emotional driver that really informs her character and world view and makes her multidimensional and human and interesting.)

I think it's possible she did a ritual that sacrificed not just her life but her very soul. I especially like that idea because it would be super taboo and also something very unusual for someone to be willing to do. She wanted to protect her son and she wanted to stop Voldemort - the man who murdered her husband and other friends of hers and who she knew would keep trying to kill her baby if he wasn't stopped. Even if it meant there could be no possibility of an afterlife for her. Maybe she doesn't believe in it. Or maybe she doesn't care and just feels that she doesn't need to exist forever.

We know a ghost is an imprint of a soul and that Dementors can also destroy souls - and given that Dementors rob wizards of their powers and that Horcruxes can use some magic, it seems that a wizard's soul is linked to their magic somehow. So maybe instead of moving "on" or using her magical energy to leave an import of herself she used her soul energy to feed a powerful protection spell.

Maybe the reason Tom's soul literally shattered when creating another Horcrux post-resurrection and killing other people (including another family in book 7) didn't do it. Because maybe Lily's spell was meant to destroy him utterly and drain all his power to fuel the protection magic. Except perhaps because of the Horcruxes it went a bit wrong and so his soul shattered and part escaped and part was ripped off and attached to harry, granting him certain powers.

Also, quick shoutout to the fact that Harry's scar is literally the rune for protection (see my meta here) and might be a result of Lily's magic. Voldemort marking Harry as his equal probably refers to the Horcrux fragment, not the scar. And it hurts when Voldemort is near...aka when the protection magic is activated. Maybe the pain is just from a powerful "dark" enchantment being activated. Or maybe because Harry's also got a bit of Voldemort in him, which Lily didn't plan for.

So that night Godric's Hollow we get a real confluence of circumstances. We have Lily demonstrating some really clever out of the box creative thinking and some insane daring and coming up with a terrifying and powerful protection spell out of pure, nearly mad desperation and fear and all-consuming desire to make sure that NO ONE HURTS HER BABY. And then on top of that Snape also asked Voldemort to spare her meaning her death was 100% avoidable if she had chosen to step aside - but she offers herself in Harry's place in a bind spell. Which probably added an additional layer to the protection.

So you can see how Lily being willing to sacrifice her life and maybe her very soul AND Voldemort having initially been willing to spare her AND James and Voldemort's lives also getting added into the sacrifice AND Voldemort having multiple Horcruxes and potentially other immortality experiments could've all interacted in a very unique, one-in-a-million type way resulting in the events of Godric's Hollow in 1981 and the subsequent effects.

I also like to think that Lily had an idea but had no idea if it would work and didn't even 100% understand what she ended up doing - and partly the spell was driven by raw willpower and emotion. So it sort of keeps an air of mystery and doesn't make it too scientific. Like it's not something that could just be replicated in a lab.

What did lily do exactly do destroy voldemort? hasn't anyone sacrificed themselves before for someone they loved?

Yeah I feel like the canon explanation doesn't go far enough. If it was that simple I think it would happen more and would've been something Tom would've known about. Especially since lots of people were fighting and in danger during the first reign of Voldemort and during Grindelwald's period of power. So this sort of thing would've happened at least one other time, even if there were several conditions to be met (like Lily specifically not having originally been a target and being offered the chance to live).

We also only have Dumbledore's word for what happened and how it works and even though out of universe we're supposed to take this at face value, in universe we've certainly seen that he can often be wrong (or dishonest).

We know that in the world of Harry Potter blood magic and blood sacrifice can have great power. This seems to be a branch of magic that is less studied and is more associated with dark magic. The ritual Tom uses to create his new body at the end of book 4 is an example of this. And potentially also the ritual he used to create the temporary body he was in for most of book 4 until he could make a better one.

So I wonder if Lily did some kind of blood magic ritual using herself, and potentially even James, as sacrifices to give Harry protection. This could explain why the protection seems to be linked to Harry's blood (which we know to be the case since Voldemort takes Harry's blood to neutralize the protection enough to be able to touch or harm Harry without burning). This could also even explain how insistent she is on trying to get Voldemort to kill her instead, or at least first.

Since Voldemort takes Harry's blood we know that he is aware of and believes in the power of the magic relating to Lily's sacrifice. And yet he still professes to have seen no proof of the power of love. So he, at least, seems to think there is some other explanation for the protection Lily put on Harry other than nebulous love magic.

(Though of course if she was willing to use herself as a blood sacrifice this is still an act of love, even if it isn't literal "love magic" fueled by love; perhaps Dumbledore even understood this and decided to be "creative" with his explanations to Harry, as per usual, because that sounded better than saying Lily protected him with dark magic using herself as a blood sacrifice in a heretofore unknown ritual).

Tom Riddle obviously had a lot of years as a wraith to think about what happened and to try to figure out a solution. And he definitely did figure out something. Because he realized the power would be in Harry's blood and by taking that blood into himself he could imbibe some of it and reduce its effectiveness against him. He understood what happened enough that he was able to come up with and implement a solution that did work for the most part.

And that solution centered around blood.

"He didn't even spare a glance around like he'd usually do, he just went straight to his room. He'd usually help around first before disappearing in there"

You nodded in understanding, looking around the brothel which just opened a few minutes ago.

The people at the brothel called you out of concern for Draken, saying he's been moody and not his usual self. They asked you if you know as to why he's acting the way he is but you haven't got a clue yourself. Quite frankly, you haven't seen Draken yourself for a few days since you've been taking care of family matters.

They asked you to come by since you haven't been in the brothel for quite a while, also to talk to Draken since none of them wanted to deal with him.

"I honestly don't have a clue, but I'll try talking to him. I tried asking Mikey about it but that kid isn’t any help either" You replied, giving them a soft smile for reassurance.

You asked Mikey about Draken before you went to the brothel but that kid just gave you a petty answer, so you're convinced that they're not the bestest of friends right now.

"Honestly, what would we do without you? Anyway, go and talk to his moody ass cause he's getting a little annoying for our liking. Then when you guys are done come out here and let's catch up and eat the snacks you bought!"

You nodded and made your way to his room. Thankfully he didn't lock his door so you were able to just enter. You were expecting to see him splayed on his bed or be working out but he's nowhere to be seen.

"Ken" You called out softly. No reply.

You set your school bag on the ground and walked further into his room. Just when you're about to walk past the bathroom you hear water gently splashing a bit inside.

You slowly opened the door and there he was in the tub, head resting back on the tub facing the ceiling, with his eyes closed. You can tell he's not relaxed at all because of the tensed muscles on his arm and his furrowed brows.

"That tub looks relaxing yet there you are still looking like you're about to fight someone" You said to get his attention. You leaned on the door frame as his eyes shot open.

"Y-Y/n" He said, looking a bit surprised, sitting up straight from the tub.

"Ken" You gave him a small smile.

"What are you doing here?"

"Am I not allowed here anymore?" You asked not too seriously.

"You are. You always are. It's just that you seem busy these days" He looked down at the water.

"I'm sorry for not being around, Ken" You gave him an apologetic look.

He shook his head lightly, still looking down at the water. "No need, I understand"

You stayed silent and just observed him. How he's looking intensely at the water, that you swear he could probably boil that water right now just by staring at it. How he's muscles are still nowhere near relaxed. How his breathing isn't steady. How his brows are still furrowed. And how his lips pout a little bit.

You pushed yourself from the door frame, walked up to him and crouched down beside the tub so that you're eye level with him.

"Ken, what's troubling you?" You asked, putting your hand on his nape and caressing it.

He slowly looked at you, looking vulnerable. A sight no one often gets to see, even you. It honestly pains you a little to see such a look from such a strong, stern man who's always got his composure.

He sighs, leaned over the tub and drops his head on your shoulder. "I-I... I'm just not that okay nowadays. I don’t even know anymore.” He admitted.

You hummed in understanding, caressing his nape all the way to his hair, pulling his hair tie to let his hair loose. You ran your hand through his hair, untangling some knots, and for the first time since you saw him he relaxed. You saw his shoulders drop slowly as he let out a breath.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

"There's just so many things bugging my mind. Life here in the brothel, the gang, and other things. It's just one of those phases wherein everything dawns upon you" He sighs, lifting his head just to hide it on the crook of your neck.

"I texted Mikey before going here and he just gave me a petty reply. That also bothering you?" You asked, massaging water on his head to hopefully help him cool down.

"Yeah, we ended up arguing cause he’s not in a good mood and so am I. It's all just chaos in my head right now really" He groans, lifting his arms from the tub and wrapping them around you. You're a little soaked now but you didn't mind, all that matters is him.

He hugged you tighter and tighter until you guys were literally flushed against each other, soaking you more.

"I'm sorry, it's just that I badly wanted to just go to you, to seek refuge in you and just to lay and hold you like this, to calm my mind. But I knew you were dealing with family stuff and that it means a lot to you, so I just bottled it all in."

"It's okay" You pulled away just enough to see his face. You held his face in your hand and caressed his cheeks. "I'm sorry I wasn't around. But now I'm here, you don't have to go through such tough times on your own. It’s okay to feel sad sometimes, just take your time, I’ll wait for you'' You smiled, making him smile. You kissed the corner of his mouth making him roll his eyes. He pulled you on a proper kiss, sighing against your lips.

"Thank you" He said when you pulled away. "Thank you for always being by my side and showing me affection even though I tend to suck at it and sharing my feelings. Just how would I repay you"

"Repay me by relaxing properly, dropping the attitude towards other people, and reconciling with Mikey" He groaned at the last part which made you chuckle.

"What? You'd be doing the gang a favor if you take the initiative, Ken. We all know Mikey wouldn't dare do it, and the longer you guys aren't besties the more agonizing it'll be for the rest of the gang. Imagine the captain and the vice captain being petty, ugh, I already feel bad for all of them" You said humorously, making him pull away completely and sit back on the tub as he pouts.

"I'm always doing it." He pouted even more.

You chuckled, ruffling his hair. "You know Mikey can be an extreme kid when he's not beating up someone."

"Why do I always have to be the bigger person?" He said under his breath.

"I mean you are 6'1 and Mikey's only 5'3"

"You're lame" He immediately countered before laughing lightly, making you laugh too. If being lame means you'll get to hear this giant laugh, well maybe being lame isn’t too bad.

"IS THAT THE GIANT'S LAUGH THAT I HEAR?!" You heard someone say from the outside. Suddenly the door burst open revealing Remi.

Draken rolled his eyes, flipping her off and she flipped him off too.

"Now that the giant doesn't seem like an asshole anymore Y/n let's go and catch up!" She grinned, pulling you up and out of the bathroom, not giving you time to reply.

"Hey! You can't just take her away!" Draken protested, standing up from the tub quickly wrapping his towel around his waist.

He grabbed your wrist and pulled you, restricting Remi from pulling you away. He and Remi immediately looked at each other with daggers as they kept on pulling you. At this point they could definitely cut your body in half.

"Well I already am, what are you gonna do about it?" Remi spat.

"Umm….Pull her away from you? You midget" Draken spat back but more calmly, which is honestly annoying. It's always the most annoying when people talk back in a calm manner...or is that just me?

"At least I'm not as moody as you. You act way worse than a woman on her period or a pregnant lady!"

They went back and forth with you still in between them. For every comeback they kept on pulling you.

"OKAY! Kindly shut the fuck up you two?" You smiled sarcastically at both of them, pulling your arms from them. They both pouted and huffed like little kids, turning away from each other.

"I'll go with Remi now since it has been a while since I saw them." You said, making Remi light up and Draken give you an offended look.

"WHAT--" Draken was about to protest but Remi burst into laughter pulling you to the door. You shrugged at Draken as he gave you a narrowed look and mouthed "traitor"

"Oh-- and when you're done, change the bulb in the lounge room, jerk!" She stuck her tongue out.

"Seriously, when will I ever catch a break-- you know what? Just get out you two!" He groaned, making you and Remi laugh.
