hey i saw ur post about being pro-ship and/or not caring about ships and that's cool and all i was just wondering if you could tag the posts with the shipnames so that folks can adequately filter stuff they do / don't want to see? like i'm not even asking as an anti or whatever, i have ships ppl wouldn't consider problematic blocked just cause i dont wanna see it lol its more like, we're not able to actually curate our experience / avoid things in a way that feels comfy for us on our end if its not even tagged yknow?

Muting tags still works if the original post is tagged with the ship name so theoretically I would not have to tag it again but I realize now maybe not every post is tagged properly so I will do my best to add tags when it's a ship post! I was a bit hesitant before because people are ready to send nasty things to someone as soon as they see the mobrei tag or whatever and I'll be honest, I didn't wanna get a bunch of death threats from the fandom of a show about kindness..

Thinking about the last roommate I had and how I wasn't allowed to use any sort of cleaning chemical in our dorm because she had some fuckass pet bird that if it inhaled a micron of Human Created Product it would fucking die
And evidently our counters were always dirty (and/or she was a fucking slob, cause her fat ass was) because a few times after I'd put ice in my tumbler for the day. The water would start to fucking taste like onions?? And I thought I was tripping for the first few days
Until I saw her nasty ass cutting up scallions, leaving them on the counter, and realizing one must've gotten stuck to the bottom of my fucking ice tray that I then stacked on top of another ice tray to save space in the freezer for her. 💀
I fished a scallion chunk out of my water tumbler that day. She thought it was hilarious and lost it and I also kind of laughed just so it wouldn't drive me insane, but hindsight? I should have just killed her to avoid literally everything (instigated by her) that precipitated the onion water incident.

Fallout is post-apocalyptic. This is different from being apocalyptic . An apocalyptic story tells a tale of mere survival, of the lengths people must go to in order to stay alive in a hostile world. Fallout is about and always has been about exploring what comes after the apocalypse. What new ideologies and societies and dreams and conflicts would arise in the aftermath of such devastation.
Bethesda wants to treat Fallout like it is instead just apocalyptic. I think it would be completely fine if Bethesda wanted to tell an apocalyptic story within the Fallout setting, however it ought to be set far earlier in the timeline. Erasing the future the wastelanders worked so hard for in the name of bringing back an apocalyptic past just feels so wrong to me.
Genuinely, what is the point of setting the Fallout show on the west coast if it was just going to invalidate everything that happened in the West Coast Trilogy. Shady Sands has fallen, the NCR is a memory, New Vegas is a crater in the ground. The New California Republic, Caesar's Legion, The Enclave, Mr. House, all brushed to the side for a wasteland with no semblance of human society beyond shanty-towns; with no semblance of the legitimate cities of Fallouts 2 and New Vegas. All to what end? To allow the Brotherhood of Steel to make an undeserved comeback?
If anything, I think the series should be the final nail in the coffin that Bethesda fundamentally misunderstands Fallout. In a franchise whose very nature is defined by the Atom Bomb and how it was used as a means to an end by a corrupt Capitalist system; how humanity rose from the ashes of a broken world with the dream of building something better; how our only hope for the future is to learn from our past mistakes and create a world where they can never be made again; Bethesda seems determined to keep us stuck in the past. That we should never advance past the ideals of the nation that led us to this nuclear landscape in the first place, that we should never try to make something new atop the ashes of what came before. That we should just forever stay rats scurrying in the wastes, amongst the shattered visage of Ozymandias and the fruits of his labor, looking up to what he left behind as an example of the kind of existence we should strive to create. Very telling indeed.
#fallout#i haven't watched the show yet and I've heard its very good so I'm looking forward to it#however yeah no 0% chance that im going to like the fact that they wrecked all the major factions even if the show is good#im a huge fallout lore nerd though so maybe my emotional attachment to it is getting in the way of my judgement#i guess ill try to keep an open mind#also im pretty sure op got some details wrong only reblogging this cause it got me thinking about my own thoughts
