Am working on Mermaid Ray now and I decided to use one of the WIP I had that was a sketch from when I was looking for The Sketch to draw Mermaid Alec with.

All nice and good, with a dynamic-ish post that could make use of a rock formation or debris under the ocean for him to lean on. Except... that... the pose's angle... is gonna make me Suffer.

#aria rants #yea the dots and lines on his tail are Bones. cuz i wanted mermaid ray to have a translucent tail that shows the bones inside #cuz its a pretty neat design! but... i... dont know how to draw bones... and the angle of the pose... goddammit #i miss the scales alrdy... ray still have scales but it wont be visible at all much so there isnt any reason to draw scales #when ill be drawing bones instead. well... at least this will help for improvement but i kinda wish i have a spine skeleton #rn so i can twist it in a similar manner the pose i have going for so i can use that as ref but alas...#well i can still use my body for that. just observing the way my own spine curves and the connection to the legs #the pains of anatomy and perspectives... its the biggest challenges of being an artist
