This one is the alternate pov for you and my hometown, aka my holiday exes-to-fwb-to-lovers fic. dorothea is the song taylor swift wrote as the other person’s POV of “tis the damn season,” so i titled my patrick pov wip ‘dorothea’ for now while i work out a title. and despite what this snippet shows (because im not much further into it than this), its going to show more of patricks flaws and the growth he needed to do as well before things could work out with david in this AU.

anyway, here’s a scene from shortly after david breaks up with patrick at the end of the summer after their senior year of high school. patrick is still heartbroken, and just started his freshman year.

Patrick doesn’t know anyone here yet. His roommate is barely around, since his girlfriend lives three floors up from them, and tonight is no exception. Not that Patrick expected anything from him.

And besides, he’s already called his parents and Rachel. He should be in bed.

Instead, he’s sitting on his paper thin Twin XL mattress, staring at his phone, waiting for a call he knows won’t come.

11:58 PM.

Patrick stares at his phone harder, willing it to ring.

Come on, David, he thinks. It's my birthday.

Patrick's alarm goes off at 5:45 AM, and he scrambles to check his texts. When nothing but his blank phone screen blinks back at him, he knows it's really over.
