okok so basic swap, peri’s an anti-fairy and irep is a fairy yayyyy!! also parents swap so wanda is like the anti-fairy ruler (cosmo’s there too) and then anti-wan + anti-cos just fairy godparent for a living (absolute icons (they are HORRIBLE AT IT))

so peri is like the anti-fairy prince in the making and he’s like a big icon of anti-fairy world. irep on the other hand is fairy world’s top fairy idol and he HATES IT! LET HIM OUT!

irep also godparents at one point so slay! dev tolerates him much more than peri. irep still begrudgingly follows the rules, but he does find a way to slip past them. peri, as anti-fairy nature goes, doesn’t follow the rules as often, unless the council has something to say about it. oh, he hates the council, but they were besties at one point (at least he believed they were. they didn’t rlly like him that much).

ANYWAYS, relationship wise is weird. they got the childhood besties to rivals to head over heels kinda thing (peri more than irep). as most middle between the og and anw goes, they do get together (YAY) for a hot minute. peri wanted irep to rule by his side because it was slowly getting to be the time where he took control of anti-fairy world, but irep was like “no, but i’ll still date you” SO THEY GET TOGETHER!!!!

and then like usual it gets shot down and enters the divorce arc (not saying how that’s for a future thingy 😋)

so like during this time irep becomes a godparent and gets dev (yay) and peri is still after irep because he wants his silly fairy bf back

Reyes Drabble!

Probably deleting this tomorrow lol its messy and wrote it in 2 hours in a car

It was another late night in her office, and Kamila could feel herself falling asleep on top of the pamphlet she was supposed to have memorized by tomorrow morning. She looked up from its thick pages and checked the time, 11:39. Working well into midnight on vispera de reyes was certainly not how Kamila had planned to spend her holidays, but when the majority of the American faction had leaders who had already finished theirs, little care was given. Especially when it came to scheduling meetings. 

She had barely made it back to the metropolitan area from her mothers house when Fernando had called her, regrettingly informing that the pending meeting between the American council and the academy heads had been scheduled for January the sixth. Every year the council privately met with each academy head in the United States union, to run over plans and concerns of their specific regions. They'd also take the chance to voice their own concerns, hoping to catch any inconsistencies in between the meeting to then investigate later on. Fernando had always called it the trial of fire when he had first started training her to take his job as academy head, one step out of line and you'd be burned. Now that they had officially been allowed to be inscribed as co-heads, Fernando had spent the past few years trying to convince the council Kamila should be allowed to attend these meetings, but they'd always deny them saying one academy head should suffice. That academy head always being Fernando. 

"I'm still in San Juan at the moment" he had informed her  "But I won't be for the sixth, my nephew and his kids are visiting from Florida and they're staying with my sister in Salinas. We're going over there for Reyes so we can go to the mass in Juana Díaz in honor of my sisters late husband" 

"He was religious" he added after a moment of silence 

"So what does that mean for us?" She asked, crossing her arms though Fernando couldn't see. 

"I know this is a lot to ask," Fernando started, his voice sheepish.  "But is there any way you could take over this year? You already know everything I planned to discuss, and I can send you all the files you'd need to learn in case the officials decide to be difficult"

"Would they even allow that?" Kamila questioned "They've never let me sit in on a meeting once, you truly think they'd be ok with me taking over?" 

"Their excuse for not letting you sit in has always been only one head is allowed to be questioned to keep it fair to other regions" His words were a lot more confident than he sounded "If I'm not there, they have no other option but to attend you"

"Considering this actually works and they accept me without much of a fight, what are we gonna do about….." 

"I had already called an old family friend to look after him until i get back from Salinas. The meetings won't take you more than two hours, he can stay with him if you'd rather go to the academy only for the meeting" 

Kamila thought about the amount of research she'd need to do, one which she'd find much more comfortable to do at the comforts of her office "No, its fine, I can look after him while i'm there" 

"So is that a yes?" Fernando asked hopefully 

"I want extra days off"

He let out a small laugh "After this you can have all the days you want" 

And that's how Kamila had found herself staying at the academy rather than driving back to her hometown for the local celebrations. She still cringed at the memory of informing her mother she wouldn't be making it back for Reyes Magos, having to calmly explain over and over again that she couldn't simply tell the American council to screw themselves. Kamila loved her mother, she truly did, but it was at times like these she was glad they had 80 kilometers of distance between them. 

She looked back at the pamphlet in her hand. It held a record of all the finances the academy had spent the past year. When emailing her all the files, Fernando had warned her finances was something the council had always tried to sneak doubt into so they could later question it. She needed to be careful and have all of their big spends ready to justified. Her hesitation on any of them might be their doom.

No pressure she thought to herself bitterly. But even so she had dedicated most of her evening into reviewing the remaining little spends in case they'd question that as well. There was no use giving the Americans any more reason to shut them down. 

Kamila was near the end of her review of November's weapon shipment when she felt she couldn't do it anymore. This late nothing was getting through her brain, all the words sprung out in front of her were nothing more than letters. 

She closed the pamphlet, letting the loud boom echoing through the office satisfy her. Whatever she hadn't managed to learn before she certainly wouldn't learn now. Better to end it here and make sure to get a good night's rest than burn herself out. She opened the door to her office, deciding to stop by the kitchen for a snack before heading to her temporal room. Itd surprise her if she was able to eat tomorrow morning, she should  make sure to have some food inside her now.  

The moment she stepped into the kitchen, she found the boy she had agreed to take care of but had barely seen in the entire day staring back at her with wide black eyes.

"You're not supposed to be here" he stated flatly. 

"You're as charming as ever " She told him as she made her way to the fridge "Would it kill you to greet people normally Sergio?" 

"Hi" he obliged, slowly taking off his headphones "You're not supposed to be here" 

"And why is that" 

"Its winter break" he said as if it explained everything "No ones ever here in winter break" 

"Fernando stays" she added in, picking out some yogurt "I do hope you don't greet him like that every time you see him" 

"He's never here for festivities" 

"I hate to break it to you " Kamila turned around to meet his eyes, taking a spoon from the counter and sticking it into her yogurt container "But you shouldn't be here either. Care to tell me where the uncle you filled out you'd be staying with is at the moment " 

"He's at work" Sergio responded, the small tremble in his hand giving away his lie "I needed a place to crash while he gets off" 

Kamila tried to not give away her clear distrust of his answer. Sergio might think she and Fernando were stupid, but she was more than well aware there was no uncle. Every time a festivity came it was always the same story, same uncle that would  get shifts unknown to men thus Sergio always stayed in the academy until he got back. Fernando had been trying to get more information on Sergios home life for as long as they realized they had never seen him step out of the academy since he had entered it. Every time they came at a dead end, and Kamila had proved trying to talk to Sergio himself about it would cause him to shut down. 

So Sergios life remained a mystery, one both academy heads were desperate to solve. But today wasn't the day so she simply nodded and went back to her yogurt. 

"I don't think he'll be back until tomorrow night" he informed her "So I'll be here tomorrow morning too" 

She stopped mixing her spoon "Día de reyes magos you're gonna spend it here" 

He nodded "Yeah" 

"Alone?" 

"Isn't that technically what you're doing too"

"I'm not doing so willingly" she clarified "I have a meeting tomorrow so, I have to stay here" 

"Oh that sucks" there were no emotions in his face, but his words seemed genuine "And can't you celebrate with your family once you're out of the meeting?" 

"My family is from Guayama" she answered 

"And that interefedes because?" 

Kamila raised an eyebrow "Sergio do you know where Guayama is?"  

"I'm guessing it's not near San Juan…."

She looked for the slightest hint of sarcasm in his voice, disappointed when she found nothing but genuine confusion. 

"What are they teaching you in school?" 

"Math" he said dead pan "Escuela especializada en ciencias y matemáticas? It's in the name for a reason" 

"So many titles and it still can't teach you decent geography" she sighed, digging back into her yogurt "How about you? Why are you spending it alone" 

"My uncle doesn't celebrate" he said, turning his gaze back at the computer in front of him 

"Is it a religious thing?" 

"No" he explained "My uncles are not very religious. He just doesn't enjoy festivities and such. Treats it like any other day" 

"So you've never celebrated?" 

"I don't think" Sergio stilled "I mean one time in school they did an activity but that was in elementary and i barely remember it. So unless you count that.. no?" 

Kamila ignored the small pang her heart gave. She knew Sergios home life was probably less than ideal, but the thought he had never truly celebrated made her feel something she couldn't quite place. It almost made her want to pick up her phone and call back her mom and thank her for her overbearing but thoughtful attempts to make festivities feel big. 

The sound of Sergio standing up abruptly got get out of her thoughts 

"Wait I almost forgot" he said as he started making his way out of the kitchen "Stay here for a second" 

With that he left, coming back minutes after with a small card in his hands. He extended his arm and handed it to her 

"It was supposed to be a christmas card" he informed her "We all signed it before leaving, I was supposed to give it to fernando to give it to you but I may have forgot…..sorry" 

She took the card and opened it. In it layed the signatures of all of the kids in the academy, little messages attached to each one. Besides the signatures layed a beautiful drawing of a mountain sunrise, painted in all sorts of different colors. 

"Naylí, of course did the drawing" Sergio pitched in "But we all contributed, so I say it was a team effort. Again sorry it's late, but never late than never." 

"Thank you" she said, shooting him a smile "It's gorgeous" 

Surprising her, he smiled back uncertainly. As if his smile confused him "No problem"

He turned towards the wall, where the stove clock layed. 12:04 

"Feliz día de los reyes magos" he told her 

"Felicidades' ' She exclaimed back, impulsing herself away from the counter "Alright it's late and I still have a meeting, I'm going to sleep. Don't stay up too late" 

He nodded, sitting back down and opening his computer. 

When she made it to her room she passed out in her bed as if she were a candle being blown out.

Kamila couldn't decide whether Fernando had been exaggerating or if she could consider herself the luckiest woman alive. Her meeting had gone well, to the point she almost couldn't believe it as she saw the council man out. They'd come earlier than expected and were surprisingly understanding of Fernando being out, the moment she explained they'd be attending her they quickly shifted all their attention without a complaint. The meeting itself had been fairly tricky, but not to the point she had worried, and she'd been able to see them out before midday. 

She knew she had to make a report to Fernando whenever she found time, but it was día de los reyes magos. Kamila had earned not to do anything besides relax for the rest of the day. If Fernando wanted to know what happened he'd have to wait until tomorrow. 

After finishing up she had decided she needed coffee, so she drove to the mall near the academy to get a good cup. Now she sat calmly drinking it, realizing if she started driving now she could probably make it to Guayama in time to see her family. 

The idea sounded oddly nice, she'd need to get some presents but anything sounded better than spending it all alone. 

Alone

Her thoughts drifted to Sergio, who she knew was still sleeping in his room in the academy. Beside what he had said she knew he wouldn't be leaving with his uncle this evening, or any time soon. She wondered if one day he'd drop the facade, and let fernando and her actually help him out of whatever situation he had found himself in 

She couldn't force him. No matter how much she wanted to. 

But there were still some things left to her control 

Before leaving she made a pit stop at a bookshop,  asked if they had any books in architecture and bought the only one they had available and a decent gift bag. 

Before continuing on to the south, Kamila stopped by the academy, quietly walking to Sergios room. 

He used to be a light sleeper when he first came to them, being woken by even a sheet of paper falling on the floor. She was glad as she opened the door he didn't wake, still asleep under his crumpled blanket. 

She tried to fight the urge to fix it as she laid beside him, putting her gift at the feet of his bed. 

She couldn't do much, but at least she felt glad he'd get to wake up to  a semblance of the celebration he had always missed out on.
