Bella panicky goes outside to make curry. She makes a deep breath and tries to cook it calmly. Since Vekpa haven't specify the curry type, she puts all types of berries here: spicy Cheri, dry Chesto, sweet Pecha, bitter Rawst, and sour Aspear.

Phmew... Done...

Bella handles a plate of large curry. When she sees Vekpa, her paws start to shake. At least she puts it on the table without any accidental falling.

M-mrow... T-there meow go... I really hope you didn't break our house...

Oh by the way chapter 2 has been finished writing and now is in editing, I've been overwhelmed with real life so I haven't picked the beta testers yet but I will probably be messaging people in the next few days so that's that

As always I'm excited and nervous about the new chapter but mainly excited 🥰 it has 33k words and I just hope the feedback my editor gives me doesn't make me go over 35k 🫠 That would feel like too much to me but yay for content!

Branches whip at her while she runs, clawing at her face and the bare skin of her arms, the very land around her trying to stop her escape. She keeps running, blood dribbling from a new cut on her forehead into wide eyes that can barely make out the shape of anything in the dark of a moonless night. Somehow, she keeps her footing as she crashes through a shrub, primal adrenaline pushing her body to the limit.

If she slows, she will die.

It’s not even a fully formed thought, just a jumbled understanding of hormones and neurotransmitters. She pushes harder, her fashionable boots pressing deep indents into the damp, ancient earth.

Something crashes loudly behind her, much much too close, the sound almost right in her ear, but she can barely hear it over the blood roaring through her body. Soon there is a stream, and that river leads to a road, and then she can flag down a car-

She is falling, her ankle wrenched painfully in a way it was never meant to be. She only hears the gurgle of the water right before her face collides with a smooth river stone. Pain erupts from her face as the crunch reverberates through every inch of her body, but her ringing brain can’t tell if the new wetness is from the river or her nose.

Instinct tells her not to drown, so she lifts her head a meager inch, but it can’t tell her to do much else. The world is slipping away from underneath her, rolling over and under her in a way her too-human eyes can’t see. She can’t reach out as something grabs the back of her shirt and lifts her, easily, from the water.

It is her nose, and it’s flowing into her mouth and down her chin as the attacker spins her around to face them. Her feet have left the ground, or maybe they haven’t; all she can feel is the pressure of their hands around her arms. They say something, but she can only see their mouth move, their teeth and eyes somehow absorbing light from the blanket of clouds above them. Her head lolls to the side, and copper fills her mouth.

A glint of teeth-

She doesn’t get the chance to scream.
