must a movie be good. is it not enough for it to be mildly interesting and watchable only on the strength of the one guy youre watching it for
#taking a break today from my usual journey through larrys filmography to watch slatterys hurricance just for richard widmark#on the strength of that movie poster alone. but alas#well as with many movies it didnt quite reach the heights it was reaching for#the story is told mostly in flashback scenes which are introduced by weirdly tough guy narration from widmark#yay for veronica lake but boo for the short hair on her 💔#lot of fights for some reason. the movie starts with widmark showing up to a plane hangar during a hurricane and being told he cant go fly#and he immediately punches out the guy. we love to see it i guess#standout scene is when widmarks character gets super drunk and sings home on the range multiple times badly#his weird guy swag allures and captivates me what can i say#drug smuggling subplot that doesnt get resolved but thats ok#final thoughts is that someone should have revoked this guys pilot license. but at least alls well that ends well#probably a rare example of a happy ending for one of his characters#i want to talk with the movie poster designer that put shirtless widmark on there despite no scene in the movie having that#anyway. old movies you fascinate me so
