i would say they're relatively popular 🤔 i like to think that their toxic yaoi healing arc is rather fascinating so yeah sure <3 popular, if not controversial is my answer hfsgjjdsfj

arifer could definitely be the subject of a lot of discourse too, especially through all their s1 shit

💞: aside from with your f/o, who else would you commonly be shipped with? why?

the top candidates are probably satan and solomon. my reasons are as follows:

solomon, because they were already together at one point 😭 takahara's relationship with him is very sweet and supportive. they really do try to look out for each other, and ultimately, they just want each other to be happy. meta-wise, solomon represented takahara as a human. he represents moral goodness and selflessness, but also repression to the point of destruction. whether or not they're together, they're still quite compelling to me

satan, because!! they are best friends!!!! and i really like that for them!!! they took a bit to build genuine respect and trust in each other and i find that really neat! they were both each other's first pactmate! they both wear masks to hide the uglier parts of themselves in an attempt to be accepted! they're both connected to lucifer in ways that infuriate and stress them out but they inexplicably love him anyways! like. they already kiss and go on dates. and got joke-married. they're just adorable (i have an entire wip arisatan fic and im so desperate to post it i like it so much)

um. mayyybe the spyxfamily au? or the demon takahara au?

first one because. like. it's spyxfamily 😭 look at it

second one because they met as angels and like 😎 the exes to lovers of it all. come on

i think there's a majority of the fandom that may overexaggerate them a bit. and then there's that one pocket of madmen in the corner churning out fics that are Better than the source material because every fandom has those

on the majority, im often afraid takahara comes off as some kind of tsundere 😭 like. guys please,,,, he has layers i promise,,,,,,,

a misconception that i see happen very often with my own circle (most notably for like. s3 and onwards arifer) is like. dialing up the "i hate you"s and all that 😭 and most of the time im embarrassed to deny it. i feel like a lot of people can forget that they're actually really corny and silly. though it feels almost poetic that everyone forgets, considering how much work they do to make sure no one finds out hfshkgsshj but yeah

about saffron: their first meeting was unexpected? i suppose? like the other characters, they all go to the same university. it's just that saffron arrived in town a few days after the school year started, so he didn't know the directions around campus. he was running late, and ended up bumping into anya/mc. he's a cheery, social guy so after acquiring the directions, he promised to find them again some time. anya was doubtful, considering the sheer size of the student body, but they did eventually see each other again while looking for dorms to bunk in so 🥳 a win!

💛 what are their favorite activities to do together? or what do they usually do when they spend time together?

about wendel: typically, wendel and anya spend time at the library 🤔 even after they got together. as of the moment i don't think they share any classes, so it's really the only place they can meet, since they're both dumdums who won't admit they're friends 😭 so yeah. they have a private book discussion club ft themselves and only themselves (later on, they'll include the rest of the poly :')) where they talk about books and trash each other and drink coffee until they have to leave

about tarrant: i think tarrant was lowkey interested from the beginning. he's very chill with his feelings in general, but didn't really act on them because he thought his friend was interested in anya first. i think they do the "fell first x fell harder" bit pretty well, since anya only really started Feeling things when they first hung out at the arcade and had the heart to heart. that was a big turning point in their relationship (and for the entire plot in general) methinks, since it's where anya is beginning to have second thoughts about the relationships they're forming with the 7 of them

for tarrant, his feelings got a bit stronger, and yeah, he's definitely the type to zone out and smile absentmindedly thinking about his crush hfshjgsdgjj nothing too big, of course. just subtle changes. for anya, due to their circumstances, i think they look more like walking anxiety 😭

5. does your self insert have any special powers or abilities?

this alone is um. miles long hfsdghfssfh im answering for takahara currently, since he really started off in the series with 0 magic potential

first source of magic he got was his pact with satan. i hc that pacts can only give so much depending on how much magic you initially start with, so takahara doesn't get a lot. he is capable of magic now 😭 enough for him to start learning properly in classes at rad. additionally, he gets physically stronger when he gets angry (wrath :'))

second was his magic focus, which wasn't really his ability. it was just a bead that absorbed magic from the environment, and allowed the wielder to use the magic banked inside for themselves. lucifer gave it to takahara so he could keep up with his classes better

third was the pact with belphegor, which gave him the ability to induce sleep and walk in dreams

then he got his pact with lucifer. they were a bit more meticulous on the terms and conditions in this one. so takahara obtained all of lucifer's powers to some extent

now (last one) is a bit tricky to describe um. due to the incident in nightbringer, when takahara absorbed all that from the forbidden door, his entire body became that magic, so think of him as some kind of eldritch being. he can perform bouts of magic, but it doesn't fit into one particular set of abilities. if that makes sense. the best comparison i can make is comparing him to a ghost? haunting the house? hfsfjkgdsdghj

7. would any other characters (besides your f/o) have a crush on your self insert?

hmmm. i'd use the word crush very loosely here. a thing i do a lot in my om universe is explore like 86368536 variations of qprs 🤔

so there's solomon. takahara is in a sort of on and off relationship with him. they had funny circumstances starting out, so he's the only one lucifer really allows

i think ill count satan. they're best friends though, and the nature of their relationship/attraction doesn't really matter to them. they enjoy engaging in the best friendism :')

another would be diaval! who is my friend's oc, based off that one demon who got sent to the human world in season 1. they flirt A Lot hdsgkjfdfhb 😭 they wouldn't do much about it, but flirting is fun <3

i think i mentioned this before but takahara once blew up the house of lamentation's mailbox. he was having a long day and he was exhausted from work, so he went home and grabbed the mail on his way in. or, that's what he would've done if he didn't notice what was inside the mailbox. and. well he was really tired and feeling more petty than usual (which was already a lot), so i guess seeing lucifer getting more love letters than usual kind of 😭 yeah you get it

anyway he just kind of sat there in front of the now-flaming mailbox until mammon went outside, started screaming FIRE, and grabbed the other brothers to resolve the situation. lucifer wanted to be mad because like. that was the mailbox, but he found the situation so amusing he couldn't keep up his argument 🤡
