Took a side trip out of Seoul to Nakasan in Yangyang-gun. This is a video and picture of the sea from the Temple. Naksansa or Naksan Temple is a Korean Buddhist temple complex in the Jogye order of Korean Buddhism that stands on the slopes of Naksan Mountain (also called "Obongsan Mountain"). It is located about midway between Sokcho and Yangyang, Gangwon Province, eastern region of South Korea. Naksansa is one of the few temples in Korea to overlook the East Sea. Naksan is an abbreviated term of Botarakgasan and refers to Mount Potalaka, the place where the Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva is believed to live. Thus, Naksan Mountain is also known as Korea's Mount Potalaka. The Bodhisattva is said to live on a sea-bound island along with guardian dragons. Naksansa is regarded as one of the great eight scenic areas in the Eastern region of Korea, known as "Gwandong Palgyeong". Much of the temple was destroyed in a fire in 2005 and has been reconstructed. . . . . . . . . . . #nakasansang #nakasan #nakasantemple #yangyangkorea #eastsea #sockcho #sokchobeach #tourist #traveler #foreigner #localtourist #nycmanofmanytalents #nyclife #nyclifestyle #scenefromkorea #newyorker #newyorkcitylife #asia #seoul #seoulkorea #korea #seoul🇰🇷 #southkorea #southkoreatravel #southkoreatrip #seoulkoreatrip #seoultravel #instaseoul #southkorea #southkorearoadtrip (at 낙산사 (洛山寺, Naksansa)) https://www.instagram.com/p/B3ZlnBFHmtg/?igshid=1352y6rh9pjny

The sashimi we had in Sokcho-si was so fresh the fish were still twitching when they brought it to the table. They pulled the fish out of the tanks where they were swimming in the Ron lot of the restaurant. In minutes the fish was filleted, sliced and delivered to the table. So good, so delicious! After we finished with the sashimi you dip the fish in the stew that cooks at the table with the rest of the fish heads and bones which intensely flavors the stock. Rice porridge was made with the rest of the stock and fish. So incredibly good! This restaurant also sits on a jetty that juts out into the sea. It was cold and windy and the sea was very rough when we visited. The last two pictures are shots of the sea battering the shore from a deck at the back of the restaurant . Their are huge concrete fortifications along the shore to prevent erosion and damage to the restaurant as well. It was pretty intense! . . . . . . #sokcho #sashimi #koreansashimi #koreanfood #foreigner #localtourist #nycmanofmanytalents #nyclife #nyclifestyle #newyorker #newyorkcitylife #asia #seoulkorea #korea #southkorea #southkoreatravel #southkoreatrip #seoulkoreatrip #seoulfood #saveurmag #bonappetit #bonappetitmag #yangyangkorea #eastsea #sokchobeach #tourist #traveler #scenefromkorea #southkorearoadtrip #epicurious (at 속초 영금정) https://www.instagram.com/p/B4DF8n6HWl6/?igshid=m4dnhzry7lhl
