Have you ever thought of other characters as AU Kaisers/Empresses*? Me personally:

I have a hard time imagining Kaisers Taichi, Koshiro, or Jo. Not to say they don’t have inner darkness, I’m just not sure how it would manifest?

Kaiser Yamato wouldn’t be much different than Kaiser Ken IMO. If Takeru is still alive, Yamato keeps him as a well-treated prisoner at his base. Kaiser Yamaro is sort of a platonic yandere (platonic because I’m not so much into incestuous ships).

Empress Sora would be even more cold, withdrawn, and misanthropic than Ken, though possibly less outwardly aggressive. She’d rarely if ever leave her base, working remotely through spy drones and enslaved Digimon instead.

Empress Mimi would be like if Princess Mimi had a shamelessly sadistic streak (not just spoiled) and no morals or compassion at all.

Kaiser Takeru wears a charismatic, friendly mask in my head, even as he’s actively committing atrocities. I think TV Tropes calls this character archetype “Soft Spoken Sadist” and/or “Faux Affably Evil”?

Empress Hikari would be absolutely ruthless, especially if Taichi died in front of her like Osamu died in front of Ken. She doesn’t care as much about power or conquest, she’s just angry at the universe for taking her brother and wants her pound of flesh.

Kaiser Daisuke and Empress Miyako would be even more flamboyant than Kaiser Ken, motivated by the need for attention and validation more than anything else.

Kaiser Iori would go the Knight Templar route. He doesn’t play video games, so he’d come up with a different justification like that Digimon are dangerous to humans or something along those lines.

I headcanon Ryo would have just straight-up turned into an extension of Millenniummon, or at least a hiveminded entity that’s only partially independent. IMO since the Dark Seed was created for Ryo, it would have taken over him more completely.

I’m more-than-slightly obsessed with Osamu, so of course I came up with an AU where Ken died and Osamu became the Kaiser. He felt guilty over treating Ken with excessive harshness shortly before Ken’s death, so the desire his Dark Seed takes advantage of is having more control over his emotions or even not having any emotions - though he maybe isn’t as coldly objective as he thinks he is.

*I don’t speak Japanese, but as I understand it Kaiser is a loanword, so the feminine equivalent would be Empress (another loanword) rather than Kaiserin.

I haven’t tbh, I’m not thinking that much about AU’s. But this one sure is an interesting one. Here are my thoughts:

- Yamato :

I really can't imagine him being a Kaiser sorry ORZ

- Mimi :

I don’t think she would be a sadistic Kaiser at all. In her heart, she never wants to fight and wishes for everyone to be good. I think if she got the dark spore/seed she would build an empire, yes. But only to turn the dark rings into pink ones and let the digi-slaves praise her night and day. 

-  Iori :

- Daisuke / Taichi :

I have a hard time imagine Taichi being a Kaiser just as you. But let’s remember that Daisuke is the only one who hadn’t forced a dark digi-evo to V-mon, unlike the other main protagonists. 

Taichi has a lot of emotions and let’s be honest...he isn’t always in control of them (I’m talking about both, positive and negative emotions, he just let them happen). Losing sometimes his temper/ control over his emotions, I can imagine Taichi being more of a Kaiser than Daisuke. 

- Takeru :

-  Hikari :

I know one of Hikari’s topic is darkness indeed. However, I don’t think she would be ruthless. Whenever Hikari is confronted with darkness, it always devours her completely until someone ‘ wakes her ‘ from this state. What I imagine would happen whenever she gets a dark seed, is that she would be completely lost. She would turn into a hollow puppet like the other kids in 02. (not Ken) 

- Osamu :

I LOVE THIS ONE!! And he get’s Ken’s haircut whenever he is a Kaiser plz.

- Sora : 

I agree with your Sora Kaiser! From all of the 01 kids I can imagine her being a Kaiser the most (except Takeru). It hurts me when I see Sora becomes more and more of an introvert during the show. 

This is a personal opinion but Sora getting together with Yamato may be a part of the reason. Sora always had the drive for an introvert. She opened up first time when she understood the love of her mother which leads to the activation of her crest. Yamato being an introvert as well doesn’t do her any favour in my opinion. For me, she back paddled into introverty instead of open up any further. (I’m not saying Yamato is the cause of her being withdrawn, but I think if she would be with someone more cheerful and open, she would open again too!)

I also think it’s neat to think about her crest, Love. The opposite of Love is Hate. Think of the sentence “ There is a fine line between love and hate”. And I think that would fit a lot :)

As for the word Kaiser / Empress

Since Japan is obsessed with Germany there is a high chance they used the word because of this. The suffix "in"  (which defines the female form of a word ) is a pretty new thing in german language. Back in the days when Digimon aired in germany, people still used the male form even for female character/words.

I’m not sure why Germany started to separate everything in genders.There was a debate once that should have cancelled all the female word forcing cause a lot of people didn't like it. But it never happened.  

So with that said, Sora still would be named Kaiser Sora, not Kaiserin Sora.
