Ei is extremely emotionally stunted, so much so it’s unlikely she’ll be able to recognize that the emotions swirling in her chest are romantic. She hasn’t been able to figure out why, but she finds that she can’t keep you out of her thoughts. Seeing no reason to deny herself, she sets out to spend more time with you, but it doesn't go as she expected.

You never talk to her like how she’s seen you talk with friends, laughing and sharing jokes. Instead, you just bow her head and carefully consider your words before speaking, worried you’ll accidentally upset Her Excellency, much to her confusion. She’s never cared much about titles, so she can’t wrap her head around why her status as archon seems to have this effect on you.

She’d secretly been hoping you’d act like those love interests in those novels Miko tells her about. But you don’t take her by the hand and lead her through the city of Inazuma, introducing her to mortal customs and giggling when she doesn’t understand. Even Ei can recognize that her fantasies still aren’t any closer to becoming reality. You continue to keep your gaze lowered and your voice soft (though not deeply bowing anymore due to her insistence of not being unnecessary), your nervousness never ebbing.

She can’t help but feel a bit disappointed that she isn’t making much progress as time passes by, deciding to watch you from afar so she’ll see your natural self in order to cure her sour mood, but the distance has the opposite effect. She can’t understand why you act so differently towards her compared to others.

Fortunately – or unfortunately for you –, this is where Miko comes in. Watching her archon yearn for you is plenty entertaining, but the sight is also rather pitiful to see. It’s only kind of her to lend a helping hand, no?

She takes the Shogun to places she knowsyou frequent (mostly due to Ei’s habit of talking about you, much to Miko’s amusement) and then approaches you whenever spotted, inviting you to join the two of them. Unlike Ei, she doesn’t bother as much with dispelling the status difference between you two, instead using it to her advantage. A sly “It’s an honor to be in the presence of the Almighty Shogun, you wouldn’t dare turn down an opportunity to be alongside her, hm?” is enough to have you readily agree, even if said Almighty Shogun immediately begins fussing that you’re not being forced; the Guuji’s words have already done their job.

At first, it’s not exactly terrible. The two are both a little intimidating for different reasons, but they’re not the worst company to have. They seem content watching you do your own thing for the most part, but not letting you forget their presence, one with teasing comments and the other with countless questions. But the more time you spend with the pair, the more odd things get.

Both are intimidating for different reasons, and the fact they never seem to leave you alone only pushes people away from you. Your pastimes aren’t spent with your close friends anymore, with whom you could be yourself without fear, but instead with the two influential women of Inazuma who never seem to leave you away, constantly having you on edge and a bit unnerved. You’re teased relentlessly by Miko and Ei doesn’t seem to understand the concept of personal space or why her presence might be overbearing. Eventually, you’re even coerced into being physical with her, the Guuji ushering you to lay your head in her lap or let her feed you dango. You can’t help but hope Ei will tell you you don’t have to, lightly scolding Miko for her insistence like she would in the beginning. But now, she just gives you a hopeful stare in response to the suggestions, their gazes making you feel helpless to resist.

With time, the shrine maiden can’t deny you do have your charms. Your slight awkwardness does have a certain appeal, immediately rushing to apologize whenever you incorrectly assume to have offended one of them, not to mention the way you sputter and blush when caught off guard… Ah, now she understands why Ei is so smitten for you.

To be honest, he had been developing this crush for a long time, just waiting for a good moment to say his real feelings. However, Thoma was still a little shy about it, so it would still take a while. Ei never understood why you cry and scream. She saved you, so why do you look so terrified? You would've been corrupted... you would've died if not for her.

Mortals are so vulnerable to change. They can die so easily and rot due to time. Time... is a threat to eternity... this is because it brings change. Ei herself has seen the damage time and change has caused to her and her loved ones.

Despite this, she finds you screaming at her to release you? Yelling that you don't want to be kept by her in a state of immortality. She finds your response rather selfish.

Don't you know that only she chooses who's brought here? This plane of existence is special. It's meant to keep you both young and healthy, free of corruption.

This way she can't lose you, either.

You should think you're lucky. Out of any mortal she chose you to keep with her. She can make you comfortable in this place while she continues her meditation. There's no need to complain.

Ei remembers when she first met you. You were a loyal mortal servant of hers, wishing no more than to work for Ei and Inazuma. It was after the vision hunt decree was announced... after her obsession over eternity started... that you became a big target for the Archon.

Ei was not expecting to grow so attached to a mortal. She had many mortals to take care of. Inazuma is her region, the people here are hers to protect, so why was she so focused on only one? Was it because you two talked so often? Was it your loyalty? At the time, it didn't matter what drew her to you...

Ei just knew that you were someone she didn't wish to lose.

She's lost so many already. Those losses are what drove her towards her hunt for eternity. Maybe deep down... you reminded her of those she lost?

You were not blind to the Archon's attention to you. You were often invited to Tenshukaku to eat sweets with the Archon. She often chatted with you, giving you smaller jobs than other servants. You did wonder why she liked you so much. Were you really a close friend of the Archon?

Maybe even Archons need a mortal to confide in? You were never able to find out why Ei looked at you with such adoration and care. You swore when she looked at you... she muttered a name under her breath that definitely wasn't yours.

You never knew that while you occupied yourself with work, Ei worried about you. The longer she grew closer to this mortal and cared for them... there was a nagging feeling deep within her.

She could lose you at any moment.

If she could lose great warriors like in the war, how easy would it be to lose a weak mortal like you? How long would it be before some accident happens and she loses you too? Change is a threat to eternity... and time brings change.

She knew you wouldn't understand her reasoning. Not without thorough teaching and explanations. Either way, you didn't share Ei's paranoia towards life and death.

Which is why when she drags you to the Plane of Euthymia... you panic.

The moment her meditation started, you bombarded her with questions. Ei kept a stoic face yet your questions did annoy her. Why do you fight your Archon's decision?

You ask her where you are. You ask her why you're here. You wonder and wonder what you've done to deserve this.

Ei encourages you to see this place as a good thing. It's a reflection of her mind, she can make it more to your liking if you like. Although, no matter what she said, you only stared at her with fear.

Ei tries to tell you it's just you and her. Time doesn't pass here, nothing gets in unless she allows it. You do not need to eat, drink, or sleep. You are safe here... safe from time, change, and any enemy to eternity.

You argue that you never wanted this, a reasoning that Ei finds strange. You liked being mortal? You were fine with dying someday and leaving her? She'd never allow it.

Ei thinks if she tells you her reasoning... you'll listen. She tells you she's done this because she cares. She knows mortals like you are fragile... now that you're here nothing can hurt you. She claims that she needs you here.

But even when she offers you paradise... you yearn for something else like it's hell.

You yearn to return to your old life of all things.

Ei ignores your comments, arguments, and screaming. Surely a smart mortal like you will realize reasoning with her is pointless, right? Her mind is set... you'll reside here with her.

There's no need to worry about the outside world. She has a puppet assisting with all of her Archon matters. Now the Archon can focus on something else...

Ei can focus on preserving eternity... she can finally focus on preserving you.

"This is the best I, as your Archon, can offer." Ei smiles softly towards you, momentarily breaking her stoic mask. "Many seek immortality. Many seek companionship. Now you have both... with me."

"Ei..." You say, tears in your eyes. Only you and Yae are able to speak the Archon's true name, a developing red flag you noticed long before this. "What makes you think this is right?"

"Why wouldn't it be? I'm keeping the one I care for safe. I've... lost many in my years. But you... I'll never lose anyone I care for ever again, not even you."

"This is what you mean by eternity?" You ask sadly.

"Isn't it beautiful? A place where we'll never be infected with corruption. It'll be just us." Ei says softly, reaching out to hold your head in her hands. Her touch is gentle, if not a bit tingly like electricity on your skin. "No one else could take care of you like I am now. You shall be free of stress, free of pain... free from change."

Ei preaches about corruption and purification. You only look at her like she's crazy. You find it ironic.

Ei claims you're both free from corruption here...

Yet it appears she's more corrupted than she thought.

Most people of inazuma have of course seen the raiden shogun. But many see her in their own unique way. The authors of trashy romance novels see her as a brooding love interest for whoever they pair her with, the military sees her as their all knowing leader. It really just depends on who you ask.

As you see her, it’s nowhere near the high regard others hold her too. To be fair, you don’t exactly see the raiden shogun, per se. Perhaps you did a few times at a festive here and there, but not anymore.

“A gift,” Yae Miko starts, as her longtime friend stays in front of her, her eyes switching between you and miko. The sky is red, this world unlike anything you’ve seen before. The woman infront of you supposed to be an imposing leader seems softer now- or maybe just somebody present. “You seemed lonely, Ei. And after much consideration, I’ve decided you need something to keep you busy when my schedule fills up. Luckily, I found the most prefect little shrine maiden, just for you.”

Yae miko sees her as a friend- a lonely, desperate friend. You don’t know how Miko sees you, but there are a few guesses to be made by the way her claws lightly grip your shoulders and she whispers barely covered threats in your ear to “behave.”

You see a lot of Ei. If you were allowed to leave this place, maybe you would see more of the raiden shogun as well, but for now you stay within Ei’s domain. You see the way she holds you during afternoon tea, sitting in her lap while she holds a tea cup to your lips. One of the nicest silk kimonos you’ve ever seen careful dressed on your body. The way she runs her fingers through your hair, combing out knots that have been brushed out hours ago. You see all the ways Ei loves you, and it’s a bit hard to see a way to appreciate it.

because i am the person that i am my mind goes instantly back to the raiden shogun,,, she's surrounded an entire nation in a single storm, slayed gods with one strike of her sword. even if she'd rather pose herself as a protector than a captor, even if she claims to think of her subjects as a precious resource worthy of preservation, you can't help but remember the guards whose heads were liberated from their shoulders for the great crime of letting you slip away for all of an hour during your daily stroll through the city (an act she claims you're too naive to be at fault for). it doesn't even have to be a deliberate effort. you've seen the way the clouds darken when fail to respond to her petnames, felt the static in the air buzz whenever one of her many advisors implies that there was a chance her fondness for you might possibly be distracting her from her duties.

the last time you failed to kiss her cheek before she departed from her estate, a schoolhouse on the other side of the island was struck by lightning on an otherwise clear day, and you can swear the thunder is just a little louder on the nights you refuse to share her bed. you know she's too mature to be doing it consciously, that she's not so petty as to try to guilt you into intimacy, but it's difficult to be as coldhearted as you want to be when you know some unfortunate village will be the one to pay the price.

Her name is Eclipsa and has white hair and pointy ears(ofc since she is an elf). And I dont mean like Santa's elfs, I mean the ones from greek and romanian mytology.

About the bakstory: Lets just say that she is the daughter of The Heavenly Principels(lets just call her THP bc I am lazy) (ik it sounds cringe but hear me out😭) and since THP was not all the lovey dovey tipe and probably VERY bad with children (maybe even hate them idk, I really cant see her motherly) she just decided to throe her to Tyvat into the care of the archons untill she was old enough (16 years old) to come to Celestia (bacically be mature since she doesnt want a cryng baby around). Eclipsa is growing, just like Klee slower (there is a theorh that says that Klee is 80 but is also 8 bc she is growing 10 times slower than normal) and everu 100 it adds 1 year rlto her age. Now, lets say that when she was 10(1000) she overheared somebody say that the archons dont actually like her (like parental figures ofc) and that they probably just cang get rid of her. She actually belivd them like a dumb child that she is and ran away (opened a portal to another world and dissapeared without anybody's knoladge). Now, lets just say for the sake of this au to make it more interesting (maybe more cringe but I am having fun ok?😭) that the disaster from Khaenri'ah happened bc the person occ heared it was a khaenriah'n and THP since finding this out was like "OH HELL NAHH" and this iz the reason they destroyd Khaenria'h. THP gave the archons untill Eclipsa was to turn 16 to find her. Well, now, at 15, she randomply (and awkwardly) came back. (Maybe she finally got into her head the ideea of checking Irmansole to see if the archons truly hated her and surprise surprise, ints not true). Now, imagine the characters meeting Occ in their nation. For Venti- at windrise, for Ei in the city (near the statue), for Nahida just at the spirit tree (maybe one of her little friends passed that message for her) and for Furina(back when she was still an archon) she was told from Neuvillette that he sensed Occ's presence(lets just say that higher ups are aware of Eclipsa's existance, including Furina. Perhaps she has read about Oc in one of the books she read to find a solution to Fontaine's profecy).

About personalit I see her as somebody who is quite the drama queen and loves attention 24/7. She loves pulling pranks all the time and also like annoyng people, but in a joking way. Hoever I see her as somebody who has her moments of understanding and is quite the menance to societity(pretty mhch like how Klee is). About her powers, she is developing since young THP's powers but since she is not even 18, its definetly not as affective.

Anyways, I know it might be a weird request or cringe, and maybe I wrote too much, or gave too little information. Furina: She knows almost nothing about her, Neuvillette doesn't seem to remember anything about her and there are no books about it, hell the only reason she knows about Eclipsa is because Focalors thought of it as important that she knew about The Heavenly Principles daughter if she was going to act as an archon.

Furina's first meeting with Eclipsa is when Neuvillette is showing her around, it was instant love... not the romantic kind, the platonic kind, Eclipsa looked like a doll, so perfect to dress up, so perfect to have around, Furina feels lonely and Eclipsa makes her feel whole again, so she takes what she wants.

Furina dislikes The Heavenly Principles, she would be happy if she was hated by them, her performance is over either way, the profecy is fullfilled, is it really so wrong of her to be selfish... you will see Furina run around Fontaine with Eclipse causing havoc, as long as she is with her she doesn't feel lonely, and now she never will

"Y-you aren't leaving me right, right... ANSWER ME PLEASE... I'm sorry for yelling, I just don't wanna lose a friend so dear, you can understand, right?"

Raiden Ei: The day Eclipsa dissapeared was the day her sister died... not only did she lose her very own sister, she also lost someone she practically viewed as a daughter, she had never felt such horrible pain before, so she shut herself away as to not feel it again.

So many years spent in isolation, all Ei could think about was her sister and Eclipsa, she swore if she could just get them back, she would protect them both with her life, she just wants things to go back to normal, like it used to be.

So many years had passed that Ei nearly didn't recognize Eclipsa, she had so many questions for her, but she didn't say a single one... screw The heavenly Principles, she was going to protect her as best she could, Eclipsa don't even get a chance to talk before she was shut inside the plane of Euthymia.

"So long, you have been away for 500 long years... but that's okay, you're here now, I'll make sure you not come to harm like what happened to Makoto"

Nahida: She doesn't have much knowledge of Eclipsa, she isn't recorded in the Irminsul, all the knowledge Nahida has of her is what her predecessor left for her she didn't forget, she is confused why Eclipsa isn't around... did she dissapear or worse, did she die?

Nahida is confussed when she feels Eclipsa's precence by the Irminsul, it feels familiar but she can't figure out why, of course like the curious 500 year old child she is, she went to figure out what caused such familiarity... Nahida knew who it was the second she laid eyes on her, this is who she is supposed to protect like the Greater Lord she once did.

Nahida asks a lot of questions, why is she here? Why was she gone? Eclipsa is now her favorite subject to learn about, Nahida takes up some kind of little sister role to stay close with her, she needs to know everything, feed her ever-growing curiosity, maybe one day she will introduce Eclipsa to the Wanderer... but that can be later, Nahida wants to be selfish for a bit longer.

"Curious, you being here fills me with a feeling like... like a hole, you fall down it everyday and it just feels so annoying, then suddenly someone has covered it up and I don't feel annoyance anymore... You need to stay with me for a bit longer, I need to figure out why"

Venti: He isn't all that interested in following The Heavenly Principles orders, but he still did as to not occur her wrath... he did not expect to take care of a child, he wasn't the best, he got constantly drunk, never took anything serious, except for protecting Eclipsa from any danger.

It was no surprise that Venti felt such fear and despair when Eclipsa dissapeared, he had lost yet another loved one... why does he still care, it always happens anyways, no relation lasts forever, no matter how much he tries to drown the memory of her in even more alcohol, it doesn't work

That's when Venti notices her precence, after 500 long painful years, is she finally back? Is this his second chance. He meets Eclipsa at windrise, she look just as well as when she dissapeared... He doesn't care what The Heavenly Principles thinks or wants, he will keep Ecilpsa safe and away from her, He will keep that smile on her no matter what.

Both yanderes act like guardians towards their darling.

Ei feels she needs to be protective of you as she's an Archon, she's also lost many loved ones in her past and is scared to lose her darling.

Yae is naturally protective of her darling due to being a guardian.

These two yanderes, looking into their past with each other and personalities, would be willing to share a darling.

They would fight at first yet they both care for not only each other but you.

Honestly, you're well protected in Inazuma with both of them.

Even if you don't entirely like their advances towards you.

You would be known in Inazuma due to the close connection you have with the two.

Yae mentions you at the shrine and Ei often speaks highly of you.

If they did fight with each other is would be during the time of Ei's meditation.

The Shogun puppet has a vague understanding of your importance to Ei, making the puppet protective of you.

Yae would get the Traveler to help keep you away from the Shogun until the mess of Ei's "tantrum" is fixed.

The more I look into the two the more I think they'd share more than anything.

Sure, they'd get jealous if one has more time with you than the other...

But for the most part they have a common goal...

The two feel Inazuma is your home, born here or not.

Ei is the most clingy towards you.

The Archon still tries to overcome her past grief yet struggles with it.

She feels she must look over you... so she'll protect you using storms over the nation she protects.

Yae looks after both you and Ei.

The kitsune likes that you make the Archon happy... you also make her happy.

Ei's fears of losing you drive both of their obsessions.

Yae tries to calm her friend and her own obsession by keeping you in Inazuma like Ei.

Most of your time is either at the shrine with Yae or walking alongside Ei.

Yae is very teasing towards her darling while Ei is a bit less emotive.

Ei is not as cold as her puppet, however, she does love to give her darling affection.

Ei's affection is in smaller amounts but she gives polite kisses and caring hugs to you in private.

You are one of the Archon's greatest treasure, if not the best.

Yae is a bit more instense, opting to give surprise affection to her darling, nuzzling into your neck.

They can both get overwhelming when with you together.

Them together with you is a reminder that you can't leave with how powerful they are.

Their love is as intense and dark as the storms that surrounded Inazuma.

Both of them are powerful with their Electro powers.

They're influential in Inazuma and guards are everywhere.

Inazuma was already hard enough to escape anyways.

So um for the event my team has Childe, either Xiao or kusanali, Raiden and Bennett. Though Childe is a menance who will crit when he wants to but when he crits he will do it multiple times after the first one.

TEAM COMP: CHILDE, RAIDEN SHOGUN/EI, BENNETT, XIAO, FT. KUSANALI

♥ Poor Bennett, you left him on a dangerous. The boy is just on the sidelines trying his best to avoid the verbal fights his three team members start in hopes he will be spared from the lashing. Childe is comparable to a dog, obedient to his owner but bites at other people who get too close to him. In this case, it would be his team members. Except for Kusanali and Bennett, but he makes sure the kids know not to cross the line. The Raiden Shogun and Ei think that their team members are not worth your or their time and are inferior in their eyes. To the kids, they're just strict and advise them to not ruin the commissions or challenges. Xiao doesn't even bother with his teammates, though he gets jealous of how Childe is doing a better job at finishing off the enemy and by extension getting your attention. He will keep this to his grave, but he (copies) references how Childe fights on the field. In return, it irks Childe causing the two to verbally lash at one another. Kusanali just comforts Bennett since she's the most harmless platonic yandere out of all the Genshin Characters.

♥ Childe is wild and rambunctious, but also sly and cunning in his own way. With his thrill to fight and his drive to serve you, it turns into a recipe for disaster. His determination pays off and he manages to make a little glitch where he can crit a little more than he usually can. He can feel the jealousy his other team members have for him, members like Xiao and the Raiden Shogun would threaten him to spill his secret on how he did it. He would just smile and keep his mouth, if it ever leads to a physical fight Childe will be more than happy to oblige. Don't ask why Childe's HP is lower than usual, didn't you want to go to that one domain? Use him to your hearts content.

♥ The Raiden Shogun and Ei are honored that you brought them to your team, the two knew they were going to be in it one way or another. Who wouldn't want the electro-archon to be their ally? That being said, the two of them question why you would bring a child (N o t Childe), A cursed bound Yaksha, and an orange-headed maniac to be in your team. She respects Kusanali due to her prowess and her abilities being a great support for the team. For Bennett, she is a stern mentor and advice him that if he can't get rid of his bad luck he should either make a loophole around it or use it to his advantage against the team's enemies (which worked because when Bennett was kidnapped by treasure hoarders all of them was thrown off a cliff the next moment, of course, Bennett was included but he survived). For Childe and Xiao, she doesn't like them. Especially Childe. The two think they are more than capable of carrying your team alone. You don't need any of them.

♥ Bennett is scared of getting into the verbal (and even physical) fights that the Raiden Shogun, Childe, and Xiao get into. He prays to you every night that he won't go on any of their bad sides. Besides that, he believes his luck turned around when he got included in your team. Sure, rocks still get thrown at him and he still falls off cliffs, but it's all worth it to be next to you!

♥ Xiao doesn't interact a lot with his team, the only time he ever does interact with his team is if they start indirectly sabotaging your gameplay (ex. forcing themselves to not switch with other characters, Childe either Critting more than usual or not Critting at all) he will voice his complaints when another argument arises and will not hold back his words of judgment. When he gets switched with Kusanali often he feels a bit disheartened, but seeing as how Kusanali is an archon he understands. Still, he wishes you would him more often. Seeing Childe often glitch out to crit more he gets jealous, and more often than not, tries to mimic him. He will never admit to his actions, but everyone can tell he's lying.

♥ Kusanali pities Xiao and feels bad for replacing him, but Xiao denies her pity and claims that she should focus on serving their grace more. Out of all the characters here Kusanali is the only lucid yandere and does her best to control her obsessive tendencies. She supports the team as much as she can and does her best to land a crit as much as she can even if you build her as a support.

♥ Overall, the team is very dysfunctional and Childe got stabbed more than once while he was on the team. But if needed they work quite well together and will do their best to please you. Don't be fooled though, if possible they will find a way to kill one another permanently (except for Bennet and Nahida, they can't find it in themselves to murder another person)

Can i get yandere childe, ei and scaramouche (not wanderer. It was when he was still a fatui) where reader kills himself because he can no longer handle all the pressure? So like one day they just came and saw his dead body.

If there’s one thing Childe would struggle with, it’s losing his darling. His loyalty to those he cares for is unmatched by anyone, he is completely self sacrificing for them, and of course you’re among those people. I don’t think he would know how to feel, but his denial period would only be brief, Childe isn’t stupid, and I don’t think he would be delusional over your fate. He would fall more into dissociation, he would zone out more, he wouldn’t be as happy and chipper, and he would keep as much of what was ‘yours’ to remind himself of you, and he has your body taken back to Snezhnaya to be honoured with his family’s tradition, after all, family is what you were, what you still are. Your death has no stripped you of that, in his eyes you will always be his even after death. He will tell his remaining family stories of you and your relationship through rose tinted glasses. While he is well aware of the reality of what your relationship was, he was certain you would come to a point of acceptance, and his younger siblings don’t need to know the reality of it. He wants them to remember you as he enivisioned your future together. Of course, he throws himself into his tasks and battles, completely reckless, dancing with death at every point he can. He knows he can’t die, he needs to be there for his family and the Tsaritsa, but a part of his passion died with you.

Now, Ei would be surprised, and most definitely hurt. Her whole arc is specifically around how badly she deals with loss. But unfortunately for you, you chose the wrong woman to end your life with. Separate souls and bodies are nothing new to her, her own body is a puppet now, remember? In fact, in some ways she prefers it this way. She’s an archon, and your soul could never move to the next plane of existence fast enough, your being still exists but simply has no shell to exist within, which is what would corrode you. But she has done this before, she knows what she’s doing. She could quite literally trap you inside the Plane of Euthymia with her for an eternity, making her inescapable for you. In fact it’s the reason I placed as one of the most dangerous, she goes beyond physical harm, she could quite literally kill you and keep your spirit. Even if, for some reason, your soul was incompatible with the Plane of Euthymia or began to have issues from it, she could literally just build you another body, she has already done so once before. It would only need to have the lowest form of function to store your soul, a puppet chained to the dark, a face void of all features, trapping you in a lonely, silent, void, unable to feel touch, move, speak. It could drive you to the point of insanity. But then there is a glimpse in the darkness, the sound of a breeze, and if you could cry, you would.

“Do you see now what you did to me? Finding you as I did? This is how I felt, how I have felt for centuries before you came. Could you bear it as I have? Do you truly wish to plunge me back into that abyss?”

But you can’t respond, you can do nothing but hear. Over time she gives your body its senses, she gives you eyes and a nose and a mouth, and finally even limbs, so well crafted, so human that if you weren’t aware of your own death you could probably convince yourself that it had never happened. But don’t be mistaken, this body is far from organic, and she suspects you of drifting from her again, abandoning her, she will push you back into that void to remind you that she is your only salvation from it.

Scaramouche...oh my lord, Scaramouche. He’s lost so many people already, he’s been betrayed and abandoned in every way, this feels like well and truly the final blow. He’s would go berserk upon finding your body, this wasn’t natural, you ended your own life to leave him behind. You’re not ‘just like the others’, you’re worse for what you’ve done to him. I could genuinely see how Scaramouche’s twisted love could devolve into hatred for you, because it’s just too painful for him to think about how you betrayed him. He would completely desecrate your body, it would be utterly destroyed in his rage, you would get no grave, he wants to forget about you just as he has all the others. But your memory infects everything, his anger towards you leaks into other faucets of his life, he becomes even worse to work for, he’s more dangerous and on edge, and you become a bigger driving force behind his ascension to godhood. Would his godhood be able to bring you back? Probably not, but it becomes one of his goals - he wants you back? To love? Not for a long time. He wants revenge, he wants to destroy you until you’re less than he ever was, lower than his lowest ever point, until you’re begging for his forgiveness. That is his long term goal.

You were quite shocked when Ei first held you in her arms. To start, you had barely seen her at all recently, her being far to busy as archon to spare you more than a regretful glance. It had given you ample time to spend alone in your room, busying yourself with all the luxuries she buys you. Second, you didn’t even see her coming. To be fair, you couldn’t really do anything to see her coming, considering you were asleep. Darkness enveloping the room, soft and carefully crafted sheets covering your body- you were none the wiser to her incoming. And finally, you forgot the vice grip she has. Greedy hands clutching around your middle and pulling you flush against her toned body. You awoke with a panic of course, but there was nothing you could do against something so powerful, so overwhelming. She tries her best to lull you to sleep, forcing your eyes to stay closed as she basks in the bliss of love.

You weren’t quite shocked when she came to you again the next night, with a vice grip on your waist like she has over everything in your life now. Including your sleep.

It was your fault, really. For not listening when the priestess told you not to linger at the shrine.

The head priestess had cautioned you against it, her painted lips (a sign of vanity uncommon among women in her position) quirking upward as she warned you of the monsters waiting in the forest who would love nothing more than to gobble up little acolytes who shirk their responsibilities. She told you, in no unexplicit terms, to make your offering, recite your prayers, and hurry back to the village as quickly as you could, but you hadn’t thought to listen for sincerity in her playful tone, to wonder if their way any advice in the childish nursery rhythms she half-sung as she prepared the bundle of rice and saké and silver coins you were to leave on the doorstep. If you’d listened, you might not have been so slow-footed as you wandered through the forest, stopping every few minutes to pick wildflowers or admire the way the sunlight bled through the tree canopy. If you’d listened, you might’ve been so preoccupied with your prayers that you wouldn’t have noticed the muffled sound of a shamisen, wouldn’t have let your curiosity get the better of you and ventured into the decrepit shrine.

If you’d listened, you wouldn’t be standing in front of a monster, praying to every god you’ve ever worshiped that its appetite had already been sated by some other foolish traveler.

It had to be a monster. It had to be. The creature sitting in front of you was undeniably a hybrid, but what kind, you wouldn’t dare to guess. For the most part, she looked like a cat; sleek ears rising out of her neatly braided hair, black-furred paws sitting where her feet should’ve been, hints of pointed teeth hanging over her bottom lip, but the idea that you’d stumbled onto the den of a stray housecat broke down as you went on.

Where there should’ve been one tail sprouting from the base of her spine, there were two, the end of each wrapped in a violet ribbon, and she was far, far taller than any hybrid you’d ever seen. Even sitting on the floor, bent over her instrument, the top of her head was level with your midriff, and you could see evidence of lean muscle underneath her traditional kimono. Most unsettling of all were her eyes – slit pupils sitting in a sea of iridescent lavender, not unsimilar to the color of lightning as it arced through the sky. For a second, while the rational part of your mind was still blank with panic, it occurred to you that meeting her unblinking stare might leave you as scared as its more eye-catching counterpart, but you tried not to think about that. If you let yourself believe she could end you with little more than a glance, you were already done for.

She broke the silence, surprisingly. “Oh,” she started, clearly more than a little surprised herself. “You must be one of Miko’s.”

Your tongue felt heavy, your throat dry. You didn’t realize you were talking until you heard the sound of your own voice. “P-please don’t eat me.”

The stuttered plea earned a pair of widened eyes, a breath of a laugh. “So, you are one of Miko’s. I should’ve known she’d be spreading rumors about me.” She laid her shamisen across her lap, careful to keep her curved talons from scratching the wood. “I’m assuming you know who I am?”

Jerkily, you shook your head, and she softened in response, her expression taking on a sympathetic lilt. “Oh, poor thing. You must’ve been terrified.” You had been. You still were. The only reason you weren’t shaking was because you were too scared to move. “I thought we would’ve been well-acquainted, considering how many times I’ve heard your prayers.”

Instantly, your heart dropped in your chest. Hastily, you fell into a shallow bow, clenching your eyes shut and cursing yourself for not making the connection sooner. “Narukami Ogosho, Almighty Mistress of Thunder, I’m sorry I didn’t—”

“Call me Ei. There’s no need for titles here.” If she was offended by your obliviousness, you weren’t able to hear her anger, to make anything other than pity and a vague sense of amusement out in her expression. You could only be thankful. If meeting her eyes would be enough to kill you, you couldn’t imagine how you’d fare if she actually decided to seek retribution. “Come, sit with me.”

“With all do respect, I think the priestess is—”

“Sit with me.”

You didn’t want to. You were still frozen where you stood, still trying to summon the courage to run, but that didn’t seem to matter. Your body moved on its own, drawn forward by some invisible set of strings, a soft melody playing somewhere in the distance as you stumbled closer to the creature, closer to Ei. You didn’t so much sit next to her as fall into place at her side – your knees buckling and leaving you to catch yourself before you could fully hit the ground.

After you’d settled into a rigid, unsteady sort of kneeling pose, Ei reached out, letting her knuckles brush against your cheek before taking you by the chin. “You might be the loveliest she’s sent so far.” If she’d been tall at a distance, she was massive now. Her hand alone was enough to stretch across the length of your jaw, and you could picture her, no matter how hard you tried not to, crushing your skull with one decisive movement. Your vision blurred, your breathing growing rapid, but if your fear was visible, she didn’t seem to warrant it worth her attention. “I did tell her not to send anything else, but…” A contemplative hum, a padded thumb pressed into your cheek. “She has always been so tricky, hasn’t she? I don’t know what could possibly make a mortal so brazen.”

The melody was getting louder. The musician must’ve been sitting outside of the shrine. “Mistress, I really have to get back to the—”

“You’ll stay here.” Louder, now, as if the strings were being plucked only a hair’s width from your ear. You should’ve run. You should’ve prayed to something else. “You’ll stay here, with me, and you will never stray farther than I can follow. Isn’t that right?”

Eagerly, desperately, you nodded, tears running freely down your cheeks as you rushed to take her hand by the wrist, to press yourself into her palm. Ei chuckled, the sound laced with a reverberating purr.

“I’m glad you agree.”

The music had grown deafening, and yet, you couldn’t seem to imagine listening to anything other the sound of her voice.
