“Not so little anymore,” she teased, adjusting her backpack. “By the way, tell Irene I said thanks for the new laptop. I know she means well, even if she’s... intense.”

You nodded, the familiar knot in your chest tightening. “I will. Be safe, okay?”

“Always,” she said, giving you a quick hug before stepping out the door.

You returned to the living room, where Irene sat on the couch, cradling one of the twins. Jessica was dozing peacefully in her arms, while Jennifer played with blocks on the carpet.

Irene glanced up at you, her sharp features softening for a moment. “She’s growing up too fast,” she said, her voice unusually tender.

“She is,” you agreed, sitting beside her. “But she’s happy. That’s all I could ever ask for.”

Irene smiled faintly, brushing a strand of hair from Jessica’s face. The years had changed her, too. After undergoing a groundbreaking operation to address her infertility, she had given birth to your twin daughters. It was a moment she had dreamed of for years, and while it added another layer to your complex relationship, you couldn’t deny the love you felt for Jennifer and Jessica.

They were innocent in all of this, and you vowed to give them the same happiness and stability you had fought so hard to provide for You-mi.

“Irene,” you said, your tone cautious, “do you ever think about how we got here?”

She looked at you, her expression unreadable. “Every day,” she said simply. “And I wouldn’t change a thing.”

Her honesty, as always, was disarming. Irene’s possessiveness hadn’t diminished over the years, but she had learned to temper it in small ways. She still kept a close eye on you, her jealousy bubbling just beneath the surface, but she no longer lashed out as violently as she once had. Perhaps the birth of your children had softened her—or maybe she had simply realized she didn’t need to fight anymore.

You were hers. You always had been.

As night fell, you stood by the twins’ cribs, watching them sleep. Jennifer clutched a stuffed bear, while Jessica sucked her thumb. They looked so peaceful, so untouched by the darkness that had once engulfed your life.

Irene appeared beside you, slipping her hand into yours. “They’re perfect, aren’t they?” she whispered.

“They are,” you said, squeezing her hand lightly.

For all the pain and turmoil, you couldn’t deny the happiness you felt in moments like this. Your life was far from normal, far from ideal, but it was yours. You had found a way to survive, to adapt, and to find joy in the midst of Irene’s suffocating love.

As you stood there, watching over your daughters, you couldn’t help but think of You-mi’s bright future. No matter what happened, you had given her a chance to thrive—a chance to break free from the shadows of your past.

And that, at least, made all the sacrifices worth it.

Your skin crawls underneath the heavy trench coat, as if your sixth sense is telling you that there’s something or someone waiting patiently for you inside. 

Your suspicion is confirmed when you see his silhouette prominent against the bright backdrop of your otherwise dark apartment window. 

He sits still, patiently. His eyes are focused on something you can’t tell due to the darkness. 

“What are you doing here?” you finally let your breath go and you didn’t even know you were holding it on for so long. 

You turn on the lights, slip out of your shoes and coat and walk towards the couch where he is sitting currently. He turns his head to look at you. 

“Why? Expected someone else?” Jeongguk stands up on his toes and takes a few steps towards where you are standing. 

His dark jeans, dark shirt and dark expression, everything complements the dark aura he is oozing right now. But he looks beautiful regardless. 

You scoff, “Is it not justified for me to expect anyone but you? Especially when you are the one who has been ignoring me for two weeks and three days to be precise?” 

“You fucking ditched me during the party, Y/N! You made me a look like fool before my friends just because you got called at work! How would you treat me if you were in my shoes?” Jeongguk screams at your face. His height looms over your small figure. The weight of his gaze intimidates you but you know how to shake that off. 

He is angry, you know. But you also know that his anger is not justified. 

“I would have understood, Jeongguk.” you pause, taking a few steps away from him, “you need to understand that I lead a completely different life. I don’t have time to waste sipping champagne wearing over-expensive silk dresses. I am a doctor! And I need to sacrifice my personal time for the sake of my patients! If you can’t get that in your head, if you can’t respect what I do then just fuck off! Let’s break the fuck up!” 

Your voice feels hoarse instantly. You have hardly ever screamed so much. This is so unlike you, you can’t recognize yourself. Jeongguk really pulls out the worst of you. 

Jeongguk scoffs, then he is grinning and then he is laughing at the loudest possible volume, “What? What did you say? You are going to what- break up with me?” 

You hate this side of your boyfriend. 

When you first met him at the hospital, he had minor scratches and a set of big puppy eyes. When he cutely told you how he fell down while snowboarding, you couldn’t help smiling. 

Only if you knew he is just like other rich brats sporting a “I want it, I get it” attitude, you would have resisted his bunny smile and big doe eyes, you would have stayed professional when he asked for your number, you would have turned him down when he asked you out. But now you are here, 8 months into this relationship with Chaebol Jeon Jeongguk, standing on the verge of the end because you just can’t stand being with him anymore. 

“Jeongguk please… Please just stop treating me like a possession. I am not your shiny new car. I am a human being! If you don’t love me, just- just let me go.” your voice comes out weaker than it should. Even though it has only been 8 months, even though Jeongguk is not the most ideal boyfriend, even though you two have hell and heaven difference between you, you still fell for him regardless. And you know it’s a mistake because there is no way you are more than just a fancy doctor girlfriend for him. It hurts but you know rationality is more important than your feelings right now. 

You are so busy gathering your own wits that you don’t notice the heartbroken expression that takes over Jeongguk’s beautiful face. 

“I- I don’t love you? I don’t treat you like a human?” his voice weavers. The tremble in his words makes you look up at him. 

“No you don’t.” you say briefly. 

“Oh?” his eyes start glistening with moisture and he diverts those away from yours. Running a hand through his hair out of frustration he groans, “then why do you think I am with you?” 

That’s a million dollar question, you don’t know the answer properly. So, you reply with what you think is the most appropriate answer, “it makes you look cool. A normal working class girlfriend to a millionaire chaebol… What a good match!” 

As soon as your answer ends, you see Jeongguk taking fast steps towards you. He grabs you by your neck and pulls your face closer to his. You stumble, being unable to keep up with his actions. 

“I love you, Y/N. You better get that inside your head. I am not letting you go, not now, not ever.” he breathes on your face, pinning you down with a sharp, piercing look in his eyes. 

You don’t know what to feel, not when you see a weird determination in his eyes, not when his mouth is crashing on yours, not when Jeongguk is devouring your lips fervently. 

Minutes pass and you find yourself naked in your bed, with Jeongguk in between your thighs, kissing your mound, licking your clit and saying “I love you” in every interval. 

You don’t know what to feel when he pushes his girthy length inside you but refuses to wear a condom claiming to “shoot his babies inside you”.

here's the thing: this bl is not good and most people aren't going to like it. it is schlocky, messy, and melodramatic, it's borderline surreal, extremely absurd, relentlessly horny, and it has the pacing of a tiktok edit to an early 100 gecs song set to 150% speed. very prototypical in a lot of ways, one of the most unique bl i've ever read in others. an absolute fever dream. but it's one of those things i read at just the right time, and there's something about it that means a lot to me. it's first so you understand how esoteric my taste gets right off the bat and have 0 expectations for anything else i put on this list. also some cws for this one so like you can dm me if you want to know.

something you need to know about me is i really love manhwa that people think is boring and by god reunion is that bitch. long-winded, gently achy character study with identity porn. it's shockingly lowkey, grounded, and comforting to read for it's initial premise... that being "poor guy with terminally ill mother poses as the dead grandchild of a rich terminally ill old dude's nanny in order to pay for his mom's treatment and his brother's schooling and oh no there's this mean chaebol grandson who is obsessed with him except it's 7 years later and the chaebol grandson has amnesia and gives his boss a briefcase of cash to buy him" you'll see what i mean when you read it, it's really actually good. you'll like it if you like quiet slowburns.

do you like scalies? do you like amazing worldbuilding? do you like plotlines about social class and eugenics? do you like yandere older brothers? do you like aggressive bottoms who are slutty and insufferable? do you like 2 and a half foot long dicks? boy do i have a one of a kind manhwa for you. eat your heart out was an unexpected delight right from the start due to it's amazing art and character design. but then i got to know helm and i fell deeply, deeply in love. he is just so fucking annoying and borderline unlikeable at times in a way that makes him an amazing protagonist. crazy about this one, a new favorite for sure. also i am not joking about dick size. you are reading "two and a half foot long dick" and thinking to yourself "surely, danny is exaggerating" i am not exaggerating. please pray for helm. he is not making it out alive.

if you like domsubverse you probably won't like this domsubverse. if you don't like domsubverse im also not sure if you'll like this. really, to enjoy this you should have a neutral opinion on domsubverse and a positive opinion on kissing the homies goodnight. dom getting dommed. sweet, bunny-soft, funny, and i just really love the relationship between the two leads.

90 Days for the Delicacy

phew, look at those two whole normal recommendations! time for bdsm and gore! i can't really tell you anything about the plot of this one without spoiling it. im sorry, i hate when people do that to me, too. if you know what my favorite manga are: this is in a similar genre.

Nekura to Gyaru Otoko

a simple manga about an outgoing gyaru boy, his childhood friend who has spent his life taking up as little space as possible, and the quiet, painful conflict that causes. one of the first manga i read this year that made a lasting impression on me. i love the art, i love the characters, i love the quiet moments in the story, i love it's bluntness, i love it's weight and temperature and how it tastes when i read it. a must-read for chronic doormats and those who would rather die than burden people they love, imo.

One Summer Day (by ker)

grim reaper fucks up a reaping reaaaal bad and has to babysit his charge until the paperwork comes in. unfortunately being still-alive when you're not supposed to be comes with some... side effects. such as becoming a huge murderslut. good news though! the cure for undead murderslutism is in fact nasty sloppy bareback marathon sex. this is by the same author+artist as sign and i absolutely love it. the characters are likeable and you can feel that this one is going to suckerpunch you with pain between the multi-hour fuckfests.

Spectrophilia

a young man is haunted by his past... literally. and, uh, hornily. after attending the funeral of his highschool bully/situationship/best friend the protagonist finds himself plagued by raunchy "dreams", the star of which being his dead friend. i think i started this in 2023 and i don't care you should read spectrophilia. the art style is really unique and im crazy about it. slow, quiet, a hint of yandere. don't ask me why two entries on this list feature dead people.

OΣG!!! = Oh My God

lets round this out with a banger i fucking love oh my god, it's great, it's gore-camp, it's playfully dark, and the characters are fun! it's a yandere serial killer/salaryman romance wrapped up in an amazing art style and slutty bloodsplatter. this one's light, easy, fun, and exactly what it's trying to be. i adore it.

・✦⇢ so, so obsessed with his darling. as previously mentioned, he’s already all about you. despite never being in a relationship with you back when he first started liking you, he claims that he still knows you better than anyone. and in all sense, he is quite right. after all, haejoon even knows what and how you feel despite having unclear or no emotions on your face.

・✦⇢ it’s mildly unsettling how he knows exactly how you are. you could have a poker face and he’ll suddenly squeeze your hand and ask if you’re not feeling well. if you asked how he knew, he’d say something like “well... your breathing is different” or something along those lines. if you point it out, he’d immediately, but somehow convincingly change topics or play it down.

・✦⇢ has to be touching you one way or another. his mind will be relentless otherwise. cant focus on his tasks unless his hand is on you, doesn’t have to be sexual but it goes there more often than he’d like to admit. he’s also too stubborn to not be in the same room as you so you have to deal with his overbearing tendencies. (yes he’s a pda type of man, this is something he can’t really help). if he can’t touch you cause of the setting you both are in, then his eyes are constantly on you. you can rest assured that at the end of his gaze, there is always you and you alone.

・✦⇢ there was once in high school where you got a partner, he was going to do something but he saw the happy vibe you had and decided he’ll stay quiet first. and he thought that if he ruined that guy’s reputation, it will badly reflect on you too. however, he actually witnessed your break-up confrontation where you overheard your partner backstabbing you and hearing him say he only dated you for a bet. case was, he has severe inferiority complex so he tried dating you to make himself feel better. well, you took him head on afterwards but haejoon still made sure that there would be no bright future waiting for that useless extra.

・✦⇢ once heard his darling say they prefer the city life and the hustle bustle of it all; so he made sure to build his office building in the most prime location. also have shares on his now friends amazing apartment complex building. he also nagged his parents to have a headquarters in the city making both of them exasperated about their son’s incredulous request. though, his dad did approve once he found out it’s because of a special someone. his dad thinks that the season of youth was truly nice.

8:55 am KNJ: Good girl.

Your heart races upon receiving the response you’ve been waiting for all morning. The sender had requested proof that you were wearing his last minute gift, and you were happy to oblige with the lewd photo. Finally seeing his simple praise for your efforts makes you grin from ear to ear, as you enter the front door to your workplace’s building. The message will be enough to get you through the day, high on the thought of his praise while his present is wrapped tightly around your ribs. Reluctantly glancing up from your phone you look ahead to see the elevator closing.

The building in which you work has been down to one lift for a couple days, with no promise of when the other will be fixed. It’s not a surprise really, ever since you moved into this complex three years ago you’ve been plagued with breakdowns and shotty utilities. Considering how opulent  the tower is, with it’s gilded elevators and halls adorned in finery you expected better, but people often overlook flaws when they have something pleasant to stare at. Allowing the management to slack on some of the failings of the structure.
