Changelings have certainly never had a very positive reputation around Equestria. The species of bug-like creatures mainly known to have ruthless mannerisms that only acts on instinct. Especially when considering the changelings eat love and love alone to keep them from starving. As you can see... These creatures, too, need to feed. And so steal the love hidden within ponies and other living entities for themselves with brute force. And this tiny human here... has love, and a lot of it.

But despite being an aggressive species, they are also known to be rather curious towards creatures they've never seen or heard of before. Which is why being a human is really just a saving grace for you in this scenario. Cause instead of pouncing immediately purely from starving impulse, they know they'd need information to report back to the Queen first. And since this is the first human the changelings have ever met, their natural reaction to encountering a new species is to learn more about it instead of feeding off of it, atleast not before they got all the answers they'd be satisfied with. Considering you are the only source of love and affection around.

The first changelings that have noticed your presence may start seeing you as a tasty morsel. if love is like meat for them, then they're being deprived of it, and then the one creature comes along that's a walking talking buffet of love. They'd observe your actions and behaviours from a safe distance for a little while, taking note of aggression signs or being a potential threat to the hive. But in truth... you weren't. You were more of a lover than a fighter, which gave the changelings the signal to not waste any other opportunity to abduct you into the hive for some answers.

And that's... when something sparked.

Being calm and sedate in your position would usually cease a changelings’ natural instinct to hunt and would often cause in less aggression and forceful measurements. But even if they did try feeding from your love, that would be similar to essentially trying to suck from a dry well, because the transporting process from the human realm to Equestria drained you of many strong emotions to begin with, and it takes a lot more time for your entire alternation from universe to universe to take full effect. And the changelings wouldn't budge from their stubbornness until you reached out to one of them... Brushing a gentle hand over its malnourished frame.

The love that you'd contain would be a tad bit ‘different’ from normal love they'd consume, mainly due to the fact that they never had to actually take it with force. You gave it to them willingly, making the love inserted into them a lot stronger and effective than if they were to steal it. Which results in giving their bodies an intense emotional ‘shock’ as you basically feed them little by little... The shock would still feel good to them, like it would make them feel warm and light headed, but their heart would begin beating rapidly by the shot of immense adrenaline they just got.

The reason why changelings need love and affection in the first place was because they need it for their survival. The value feeds them. As they learn you're capable of feeling and giving love, they would want to keep you around permanently to feed. However, in extreme cases it might lead to a changeling becoming dependent upon one person's love. And their survival might be based on that person's love and affection. and what happens when that person's love and affection starts to falter? There is such a darker side to something so innocent as eating some consensual love.

Which could go either two ways...

Plan A being a bit more complicated. Since they ended up taking a ‘sample’ of you to basically extract the hormones and emotions of love, you had proven yourself to be more productive than all of the ponies they've held captive combined. Feeling more satisfied with the mere sip of love you've happily handed out to them than with any usual prey they had ripped the love from. But the Queen desires love too, because it is essential for their race. And because the hive is almost completely devoid of any love in the first place. You could become a sample for the Queen... Just keeping you there and farm you for love.

But there's also a considerable chance the changelings who captured you would scrap plan A and would instead focus on a plan B... Keep you a secret from Queen Chrysalis and prevent you from being cocooned at all costs, but only under the condition if you keep blindly feeding them with your lovey-dovey personality. Changelings tend to function with a very strict hive mentality... conclusions are set by the swarm's majority of drones’ standpoint. They all have a strong tendency to fall for group decision-making, but they're also quick to swap their beliefs if it seems like the right choice for the best of the colony. So it likely wouldn't even take long for the entire swarm to come to an agreement to keep you secured under high protection and warding.

Due to being a good source, you would give them more positive energy than any other creature who would falter in their fright after being captured... which would make you a rather popular target for the swarm of drones. To a point where the entire hive would start to view you as the "heart of the colony" of sorts. Because a changelings emotions are based on their diet. And the more love they receive, the more addicted and obsessed they'll become with it. So they would all be head over heels at some point, bordering on complete worship ...viewing you as an object of their affection and admiration. And getting even more physically violent to defend and protect you from what they consider a threat to their food source.

They might be feeding off of the love you give them and emotional positivity for now. But if they keep feeding and feeding, eventually they are probably going to want something else than just your emotions, which isn't good... But at the end of it all, they will want to protect you. But their methods might be a bit morally questionable. They have been looking for a more ‘sustaining’ source of love their entire lives. And from what we know... love only grows stronger.

So what happens when a creature becomes utterly emotionally dependant on someone?

What if... they begin to get obsessive?

Instead deciding to ensure no one else gets to have you?

Signs of attacks outside of the hive would become more apparent as time went on, a variety of breeds beginning to disappear aside with half dead creatures covered in adhesive emerging from their hideout as no entity even dares to get close to the shapeshifters. Some changelings would begin arguing with eachother over the delightful taste of your love. But knowing how naturally greedy and hostile they can get, these would convert to physical violence sooner or later, causing a bunch of internal conflict in the colony. A bunch of love starved changelings just riskily fighting over a single human.

It would get so bad, in fact, that there's possibly not even second you'll spend in the hive without a changeling being nearby, just ... watching you. With or without you knowing, there to strike and pull you back in at a moments notice if your demeanor gets too close to flight response. The changeling that you first bonded with would feel remorse about doing it, but the rest of them won't really care much as long as they can keep you in their grasp. Though you would still be allowed to travel closely outside of the hive, they'll keep their little eyes on you anyway...

You'd have this love that's a bit diluted, but even with just having a weaker type of love to feed off of, they'd have to feed for a longer time and drain their energy in order to get it. Which in terms causes in them taking more than they can physically handle. You aren't necessarily a dry well, but rather more of a dripping faucet while they are all dying of thirst. So they could still eat from your given love for a while, but if they try to go all out, there could be horrific consequences...

Because each of them are essentially trying to take enough to survive, their individual feeding sessions can become more aggressive. They don't want to kill you, nor do they understand how strong of a heart you have. So they don't see that they need to be gentle. Because in their eyes, you're considered weaker as a mortal. And your emotions, not being very strong, make their hearts race and they aren't feeding slowly and cautiously enough to keep the heart beating at its normal pace. You're basically a complete reverse card on them. To the point of them becoming so infatuated with you, that they literally forget what they are doing, and basically, accidentally kill themselves with a massive case of overdosing love.

The more of your love they take, the more they will like you. And the more they like you, the more they would try to suck it out. And the more they try to suck it out, the more it would turn into a "want" instead of something more natural. And then, that's when some would begin to die from overfeeding. The emotional shock and overdosing on love being much more overwhelming than the changeling's bodies are capable of handling. And of course, you wouldn't really understand why they were all suddenly lifelessly scattered around you...

It would be quite a challenge for many changelings to have the self control to prevent that fate. I doubt the majority of them would even understand the concept of death enough to avoid it even when their heart rate was going at unsafe speeds. The situation would honestly be safe for the changelings that have enough self-control to hold themselves back, but those who don't would become history real quick... Especially as changelings mainly seem to cocoon their prey. You may have more love to give when you're out in the open, but perhaps you even walking freely might just be enough to push many changelings over the edge.

Though this would also highly depend on the distinct personality of each changeling. Those who were more reasonable would try to just suckle in love. Then we have those who would become a bit feral and aggressive trying to tear the love out of you. Making it like a really twisted irony that they want love, but by trying to obtain love, in this way, they could essentially doom themselves. The ones who are more in control and more disciplined may survive. But either the greedier or younger, more immature changelings might get too excited and just want more and more. Which leads into them destroying their bodies via the very thing they wanted. The ones that do manage to control themselves will remain very interested in you however. But even if their fair sense of attachment and perhaps even bond towards you won't fade...

This is nothing more and nothing less than a parasitic relationship

"Rarity, can I please go home now?" You asked, voice strained.

Even if the pain in your voice wasn't obvious, it should have been just from looking at you - which Rarity had been for the past several hours! Your hearing was slightly muffled from how flat your ears were pressed against your skull. Occasionally, you'd weakly lift one hoof off the ground for momentary relief, praying that the other three wouldn't give out. If you weren't held up by obligation to your friend, you were sure you'd have slumped to the floor of the platform in exhaustion.

"Oh, but where would I be without my muse?" The mare whirled around from her sewing machine.

Biting back a sneer, you held back your frustration. Something about Rarity simply getting a new muse was held in your jaws like a steel trap. But, you couldn't do that. A heavy sigh heaved out through your snout.

Rarity was your friend. Someone who was always generous and loving toward you, as a good friend should be. It's only fair for you to give her just as much in return. Not only that, but she was an Element of Harmony and owner of two different boutiques. To say she had quite a bit of social standing now was an understatement. Not that you think she'd ever use that against you… No. Never. Not Rarity.

"I'm almost done, dearest, I assure you," the mare promised before turning to look outside. Complete darkness. Her eyes widened, a gasp escaping her. "Oh my, I completely lost track of time. My sincerest apologies, darling!"

A sigh escaped you, your irritation leaving with it. Of course, it wasn't intentional. Rarity would never do this on purpose. Accidents happen. And hay, it'd be over soon, right? With a smile and nod, you waved her off with a shaky foreleg.

"Don't worry about it," you assured. "I just need to get home soon."

"Oh… I don't think that'd be a good idea. It's far too dark out now, I'd feel awful having you leave on your own. How about you stay the night?"

"Are you sure? I wouldn't want to impose…"

"Of course!" Rarity whinnied, trotting over to look up at you. "It's been some time since I've had a sleepover, and there's nopony I'd rather spend time with than my muse."

You watched as Rarity reached up for you, feeling the soft underside of her hoof cup the side of your face, gently stroking your fur. You couldn't help the smile and slight flush that rushed to your cheeks. Rarity always made you feel like a star, the most important pony in the room. And she was so comforting... You leaned into her touch and, just for a moment, allowed yourself to close your eyes...

You felt the world go off balance, wobbly legs giving out from under you as you went careening toward the floor. A cry of surprise escaped Rarity. The floor rushed up to you, nothing underneath you and legs too weak to catch your fall- oh, this was gonna smart!

But, suddenly, everything stilled, as if time itself stopped. Your vision was filtered through a blue hue. Darting your eyes around to get your bearings, you spotted the mare. Her face was twisted in concentration and her horn covered in a blue aura. Rarity… Rarity had saved you!

With great effort, she slowly lowered you to the ground by her side. Immediately, she pressed herself up against you for you to lean on. The feeling of her fur was so warm against your own. The moment you were released from her aura, you fell against her.

"Rarity," you mumbled, pressing the side of your face against hers. You were so tired…

"Let's get you to bed, dearest," you heard her say. "You can take my bed. You've more than earned it."

You could barely walk, let alone reply or keep your eyes open. You let her guide you through the boutique, helping you gently up the stairs before eventually you found it. Salvation. The feeling of a soft mattress and satin sheets and even better, nothing under your hooves for you to keep yourself held up.

Rarity held herself back from squealing or jumping for joy in her excitement. It worked! Her plan worked! Ah, but, how could it not have? Finally, Her beloved muse would never leave her again. Oh, how she adored you.

And how glad she was that you were far too exhausted to even notice the shackles that clasped around your hooves, secured by a bedpost.

Pressing a kiss to the top of your head, she whispered a wish for sweet dreams. And in the morning, you'd start the rest of your lives together. 

A happily ever after. Just like she'd always dreamed of.

I feel this has endless possibilities when it comes to darling.

You could be a tyrannical Alicorn... a possessive dragon... really anything.

You no doubt caused terror and fought the ponies of Equestria one point in time.

But like most villains... you were bested by the Mane Six.

Through them you began to learn more about the value of friendship and alliances based on close bonds.

Eventually with Twilight you go to meet Celestia and Luna.

In your past you may have fought the two princesses.

To complete your reformation you meet with them again beside the Princess of Friendship.

The encounter is awkward at first but eventually it gets better.

In fact... both princesses seem to welcome you with warm greetings.

But something doesn't quite seem right.

For the sake of this concept I'm going to say you used to be a tyrannical ruler (either an alicorn or unicorn) who ruled your kingdom with an iron hoof.

The two princesses knew about you from when you fought long before.

But as they watch you begin to treat your subjects better and with more respect... the two respect you more.

They even grow closer when you talk to them, admitting to them that you were blinded by your rage, greed, and the need to protect your ponies.

To them you are no longer their enemy and bow your head to them.

I feel there's two ways their obsession could go two directions while platonic.

If you were also an alicorn they may see you more like a long lost sibling that they must correct.

After all, Luna is technically a reformed antagonist too.

If you're a unicorn they are more likely to see you like some sort of student that can correct like Sunset Shimmer.

Either way the two princesses definitely try to help you during your reformation.

They are present when you address your subjects at times to get them used to you again.

You often meet with the princesses to take lessons and strengthen your bond with them.

As a result they begin to grow attached once you are reformed.

Now you are a much better leader completely purified from all your negative emotions and thoughts.

You no longer see them as enemies... but allies.

Naturally as most platonic yandere go the two keep an eye on you and are protective of you.

The two are playful with you at times and you're surprised that they see you as a friend.

Celestia has always been forgiving, however.

Luna trusts her judgement.

Most of your time ends up with them and Twilight.

Although it starts transitioning to just them at some point.

The two try to be subtle with their obsession but they are definitely manipulating you the longer you're around them.

They make you feel like they are the only ones who can redeem you.

Soon... maybe you shouldn't even rule over your subjects.

A replacement can be found...

You should just stay with them...

After all... they think you're not reformed fully quite yet.

I'll do my best! This is just general thoughts/HCs of you being a third more than an actual plot. Sorry for the long wait! I am now trying to prioritize older drafts.

Yandere! Princess Cadance + Shining Armor

(You being their third idea)

Pairing: Romantic - Sharing/Poly

Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, Poly relationship (Cadance/Darling/Shining Armor), Manipulation, Slight abuse of power, Isolation, Controlling behavior, Jealousy, Love Spell, Brainwashing, Imprisonment, Dubious relationship.

Honestly, they're such a lovely couple I'm going to struggle a bit making them dark.

Princess Cadance is said to be kind, caring, helpful, persistent, and a natural leader.

Shining Armor is said to be kind, caring, protective, warm, loving, stern, yet playful.

They are loving parents to Flurry Heart, even if I am not that far in the series.

In terms of how you met, you could have been a foalsitter for Flurry Heart.

That or be a guard for the pair since Shining Armor is captain of the Royal Guard.

The darkest thing I can think of for them is how manipulative they'd be over their shared obsession due to the power they hold over you.

In either scenario I listed, they're your superiors.

Princess Cadance is... well... The Princess of the Crystal Empire.

Shining Armor is Captain of the Royal Guard.

The two could easily manipulate you into being with them due to their reputation, and you may even go along with it.

Imagine becoming their third and having no idea they were preparing you for the role.

After all, the two are so kind and caring...

Nothing dark here, right?

They would both be subtle with their obsession.

Ever so carefully they'd manipulate you away from other ponies.

They pay you the most and often invite you on family outings.

Be that to watch Flurry Heart or protect them... it doesn't matter.

The main goal was to keep you close.

Before they officially make you their third they'd definitely isolate you.

The couple becomes your closest friends and soon you aren't even helping them for the money.

The Crystal Empire is already your home, but now you feel you have no need to leave it unless the couple has to go anywhere.

The scary part about them is the fact you have no clue about their subtle manipulation.

They both know how to play their cards right.

Even if you eventually found out, Cadance is confirmed to know a Love Spell.

As a Princess of Love, you already feel like you can trust her like most ponies do.

The couple probably does get a bit jealous when you're around other ponies.

Especially when they both have a romantic attraction to you... which is why they keep you away from other ponies most of the time.

While they are pretty tame yanderes, they have the most control over you when you're their third.

They are very caring once you're theirs.

All smiles and coddling as you roam about the castle, looking so happy.

Poor you is blinded by rose tinted glasses.

You're completely unaware of the planning they put into making you theirs.

They fired others over you... used a few spells to alter your way of thinking...

But you'll never know.

In fact... why would you care?

They pamper you, smother you in affection, and you feel like you're part of the family.

It's toxic, but not in the physical sense.

They'd never harm you.

However, they'd still manipulate you to keep you in the castle.

Your lack of freedom is toxic, yet you don't seem to care or notice.

Why?

Could be a love spell... or maybe you're just naive.

It's best you don't look too close into it, yeah?

Although... you may pick up on it eventually.

For example, things may seem too... artificial.

This perfect life with your two royal partners seems... off.

Why don't you have any other friends?

Didn't you have a family before this?

This curiosity or yours may cause you to look deeper.

Even though Cadance and Shining Armor protest... you are still insistent on looking deeper.

Which means the two have to put a stop to it.

Be it brainwashing with a love spell, more lies, or imprisonment...

The two plan to prevent you from leaving them.

They aren't violent but will rely on subtle/sneaky tactics to keep you by their side.

You always have a guard with you, all so they know where you are at all times.

You won't be leaving the Crystal Empire without them knowing...

You three will be the perfect family, they won't let you fight it.

"Isn't your room to your taste? We wanted to make it perfect for you...."

"Why do you seem so worried? There's nothing wrong... don't you know we love you?"
