Dragon ball swap au??

I’ve been thinking of an au for dragon ball, a swap au.. usually people do Goku and vegeta.. but what if it was An earthling Goku and Saiyan chi chi?? ^-^ here’s my list of swaps! (Question marks are ones subject to change or idk what I’m doing)

Goku -> Chi Chi (Saiyan Chichi lol)

Vegeta -> Bulma (Saiyan Bulma… hmm..)

Krillin -> Android 18

Gohan -> Videl (for this swap, gohan would still be a son, just taking videls place!)

How did you recharge between fics? Usually planning the next one haha

Did you create fanworks other than fic? Yes! I started doing a lot more fanart and actually got better at it!

How many events did you take part in? (bangs, exchanges, ship weeks, zines, prompt memes, they all count!) Three total! The Vegebul coloring book project (as an artist haha), the Bleeding Out prompt challenge, and the Secret Saiyan exchange from the Vegebul server.

If this were an awards show, who would you thank? Akira Toriyama for gifting this wonderful world and characters to us <3 And all the people in the Vegebul fandom <3

What's left on your to-do list for 2024? Polish the Secret Saiyan work, finish one more chapter for Homeward Bound

What would you like to write next year? I want to finish Homeward Bound, write the sequel, work on PPE, write that Future Gohan-centric fic AND write at least two more oneshots for my 7-year-gap series.

i feel inclined to add on to that ask abt movies (cuz i love watching movies).

Trunks to me speaks to me as a person who at one point expected the stuff he watches to change him a little. To help him think in a different perspective and challenge his preconceptions or. SOMETHING. hes the kind of guy to try to watch movies like 2001 space odyssey but by the end of it, just looks up the ending explained. he has to try to get anything out of it. I don't think he liked trainspotting. I don't think he knew what to make of The Shining. Trunks would almost certainly try to not get bored at the beginning of Pulp Fiction (the bulk of that movie is talking). But he'll still go see movies in theaters or watch whatever he's got laying around in the house though.

He thinks he's watching movies to gain something but tbh ? Trunks has been watching movies all his life, and it might just feel rly weird to suddenly. not to. If that makes grammatical sense. I think it just gets too quiet in his house. His mom's always working on something in her lab, vegeta's always in his training room, etc etc. so he puts em on to chill. Even if he doesn't really get them sometimes. Bulma seems like the type to do the same thing while she works, maybe he gets it from her.

That's probably why watching movies with goten is so interesting though. He can really get to the core of what it's trying to say, engage with the story and themes on a meaningful level and come up with his OWN well constructed analysis with an infectious enthusiasm reminiscent of the way Gohan talks about entomology.

And Goten, country bumpkin that he is, probably hasn't even seen more than MAX 30 movies in his life (ever) besides whatever soaps his mom leaves on. he's glad trunks invites him over to watch this stuff. At the end of analyzing whatever film they saw I think he'd be like Waow. That was so cool Trunks thank you for showing me this :-) can I borrow this dvd and never give it back and Trunks will be like yeah man thats cool I'm glad you liked it so much. I have a bunch more laying around it's whatever. (He found a lot of these movies in this "guest" room he's never really been inside of. It still has a lot of stuff from before he was born.)

(One last tidbit which isn't super important. I mentioned earlier a guest room. It was yamcha's. When he moved out, he didn't really take a lot of things with him, choosing to leave some of his clothes and most of his movies behind. Bulma probably told him that he could just leave his stuff there in case he ever wanted to visit. The only movie he bothered to take with him was Caddyshack. For some reason. Why)

That's the greater discussion here ... A veiled call for action for us all to try to look with fresh eyes upon our own lives ....

Really, If Trunks isn't taking to the creative storytelling aspect of it, he should at least take a shining to the technological artistry. Maybe he doesn't care why or when, but he does know HOW they do what they do. That'd be swagg. But then he'd have to do research on something that isn't Minecraft related. Sighhhh

They're a bit older now but I go back and read them feeling just as giddy as I did when I first discovered them. I've been brainrotten about Raditz x Yamcha for a few years but it's coming back full-force and your fics are always appreciated <3

Oh my gosh, you're so welcome! Gosh, it has been awhile, hasn't it? I think around nine years since I first started posting them? But I still love them so much - DBZ turned out to be a huge milestone fandom for me that taught me SO MUCH about writing! And Radcha, my precious li'l rarepair! It's going to be a source of pride to me for the rest of my life that I was insane enough about a pairing that AO3 got a new ship tag over it. And other people have written for it since then, I'm not over half the tag's content anymore - how cool is that?! And you're still enjoying them so much, even now? If you don't mind me asking, I recently remembered your Goten post about how he might not be the 'ladies' man' the general DB fandom thinks he is by EoZ/GT, and I wanted to ask...

Do you think Goten should be an actual 'ladies' man', or should he be a hopeless romantic like Krillin and Yamcha before him?

No. His personality fits better as a hopeless romantic. A sincere guy who just wants a woman who he can enjoy time with and understand him and his odd life? Fitting imo. Saiyans aren't really the romantic type anyways. They are more about combat. And since Goten his half human, he would desire some romance, but his Saiyan side would interfere a bit. That Saiyan side being that he plays around too much (he & Trunks). Gohan's Saiyan side is that he focuses too much on studying. The full-bloods focus too much on combat & training. Saiyans seem to over focus on one thing and it takes a strong willed woman to deal with that. Even then, Bulma, Chi-Chi, & to a lesser degree Videl all have to put up with how irritating it can be to marry a Saiyan (not that they don't love their husbands tho). So Goten would have trouble with that balance and would end up a hopeless romantic rather than a ladies man.

Sidenote; Yamcha being a hopeless romantic was cool and he stumbled upon Bulma. Then he is back to that after they broke up during the Cell Saga. I want him to find a woman who appreciates him. That's part of the draw of the character. A kind guy with a life most people can't relate to. Which is also why I ship Yamcha x Tights lol. She understand that life most can't relate to and she comes across as far nicer than Bulma. Plus it seems like she would be the type for Yamcha. You can find anyone, but you just want one of the ones who are right for you. That's what's cool about the hopeless romantic trope. What they want isn't easy to find. So when they find it, we celebrate for them.

Well, last night I finally finished Dragon Ball GT

Aaaand that does it. Between 2022 where I watched "Dragon Ball" properly and in full for the first time, through 2023 where I completed the first full rewatch of Dragon Ball Z in like, over a decade (with a loooong gap inbetween certain arcs. Z is a long series) and now into 2024 where I watched GT all the way through for only the second time.... That's it. Throw in the Super marathon my partner and I did a couple of years back and... Yeah. I've seen all of Dragon Ball to date. (Not counting Heroes or the OVAs or such). It's a bit bitter sweet for me. I'm glad I did it, although I am reminded that my enjoyment of GT is mostly just nostalgia (I was watching it not long after I met my partner, like, 11 years ago) - But there's no more Dragon Ball! It'll be a good few years before I can justify re-watching it all again, and that means that until Daima comes out (something of which I have mixed feelings about in general). And of course, no more Dragon Ball means no more Bulma so how am I meant to survive!?

(Dear god, this is absolutely her best look - I love her so much.)

Anyway - My Partner has me watching Inuyasha at the moment, another long runner and one I have never actually seen - like, at all - so that'll be fun. It's decent so far.

Lack of Bulma in my future aside (I'll just go look at fan art of her, a lot of the best bondage artists have done some pretty hot fanart of her - Including her Buu Saga and Super looks so yay for that), I'm really happy I watched the whole thing. Dragon Ball has always been one of my favourite series and I've only appreciated it more and more as I got older. It's probably in my top favourite things of all time these days. Right up there with Transformers.

I should really post a couple of my more long winded theories, rants or speculations on the series (I have a whole ramble about why Bulma and Vegeta are perfect and why he works for her when Yamcha didn't - and it's not for the reasons people think) but all that aside... It just feels cool to finally be able to say I've watched all those DVDs I had on the shelf!

That pic about Trunks and Yamcha got me thinking, like you just gave au ideas here 😃 like Yamcha being like a father figure to Trunks when Vegeta is MIA or off training somewhere. And that is so sweet that yamcha would send a birthday card to Trunks (I don't think Vegeta does any real domestic father son bonding in canon 🤔 ). And then there is another au idea where Vegeta getting jealous and trying to be more of a father to Trunks and a husband to Bulma where there will be awkward and hilarious situations happening 😆 and Vegeta eventually asking for tips and advice from yamcha but Yamcha is pretty much clueless to what was happening and just being a nice guy who always gives birthday cards, and holiday cards out to everyone 😁 sorry if this was long, just had to share this with you 😅😊

I was HOPING that that post would inspire headcanons !!!

I just didn't know if I'd see them. And also I thought that it would have taken a few more posts by me on the subject.

I wasn't expecting the warm reception on that comic .. I would have put a bit more effort into crafting the pics if I had known #LOL.

Yamucha held Trunks as a baby more than Vegeta did. Vegeta SAID that he never held Trunks ONCE until he hugged him during the Majin Buu shit. This is a normal and common fact but I feel like if Trunks heard it phrased that way - that Yamucha held Trunks as a baby more than Vegeta did - then it would strike him a bit ... Because in his memory he obviously associates more with his father than with Yamucha, if he heard it phrased that way then it may register as "actually yamucha and I go way back and I just didn't remember" and then it would feel weird to keep treating yamucha like they dont know each other.

Yamucha sends cards becasue of course he does .. It was a practice that was started in a way that was kind of cheeky and more for Bulma's benefit than anything .. It's not uncommon that a baby will receive a gift that is more helpful to the parent than to the baby. So Yamucha sending a baby a birthday card as if it can read was, in his opinion, really funny. Also his way of responding to the fact that He Did Not Receive an Invitation to the baby's First Birthday Party (Bulma just didn't send any out... everyone should KNOW that there's gonna be a party :eye rolling emoji:). Other than that, Yamucha usually does manage to arrive at the birthday parties, but he doesn't always bring gifts (or gifts that are cool to anyone but himself), and sometimes he shows up late, and sometimes he gets drunk with the adults before even having a chance to see the kid (and of course it's more fun for Trunks to do literally anything else on his special day than talk to adults), so, the card is just something Yamucha always does as a back-up / commitment to the bit.

But yknow. Vegeta never even says "happy birthday" to the little guy. And that's fine because that's just the way he is and he expresses love in other ways and Trunks loves him too and this is just how they do it, this is the language of affection that is unique to Vegeta and it's fine because Trunks has learned how to speak it, BUT, YKNOW, there's potential for a story of Trunks discovering how Nice it is to have an adult just be NICE and WARM to him, easily, and who will give him attention without being asked to in contexts other than training and improving oneself.

I used to think about a similar thing when musing about Trunks's Uncle Tarble, but that was specifically when Trunks goes through his tumultuous teen years, and he appreciates the fact that someone is willing to appreciate him as he is and without needing him to be better. Whereas I feel like Yamcuha could be / would be a beneficial presence in Trunks's life when he's a younger kid, and he really just needs to warmth of a parent.

Trunks's parents are doing fine given everything, but it takes a village to raise a kid, and Yamucha is a part of that village.

Oh dear now I'VE gone on for too long..!

BACK TO YOUR ASK: THE SECOND AU: OMG THAT'S SO SILLY... the thing is I thought of a similar thing in my Tarble Days, where everyone loves Tarble because he's nice and considerate, and Vegeta literally concedes defeat and asks Tarble How He Can Be A Better Presence For His Family. But it's a totally different vibe if it's Yamucha .. like there are similarities (tarble & yamucha both Suck in Vegeta's eyes) but there are differences in that .....

Yamucha has known Bulma for longer and is a human himself and maybe he's just more naturally in-touch...?

Maybe there's something about Trunks's human side that Vegeta just isn't speaking to...?

Maybe Vegeta STILL doesn't understand family even after all of this time...?

But what is he to do ... have movie night with them? He hates movies. Talk to his wife more? He hates talking. Hold his son's hand more? One time he saw Yamucha holding Trunks's hand and Trunks's tiny hand completely disappeared in Yamucha's garage of a fist and Vegeta didn't know how he was supposed to feel about that ... Vegeta trying to have movie night with his family to prove that He Can but he just sits there with his arms crossed the whole time & it doesn't seem like he's enjoying it and it just doesn't suit him .. and it makes it all More Awkward for everyone else..

Anyway. I like to think that Yamucha IS aware of the ways that he is a nice presence for Trunks, just because he's good with kids the way that a fun uncle is, and becasue he's older and wiser than he used to be and he can read people better than he used to .. and he knows more about what's needed by the soul and body and mind ....

HOWEVER. He doesn't realize that Vegeta would look at the friendship that he has with Bulma as something that Vegeta needs to learn from. And though Yamucha knows Bulma & Vegeta pretty well and can parse out what Trunks is missing at home based on that and Trunks's behaviors, he's not actually a parent himself & he has no intentions of being one anytime soon & he doesnt think about it that hard & so he doesnt know that when he lets Trunks come over with Goten to make roasted chestnuts and watch Caddyshack (1980) at his cabin, that that's something that makes Vegeta feel insecure in his role and value as a father.

So YEAH. Vegeta would confront Yamucha and ask him how he can Be Better, and Yamucha would be like "....HUH?"

Yamucha would scratch his head and roll his shoulders and eventually manage to express: "Well... Have you tried just talking to your family? And, like, listening?"

and Vegeta would either blow that off as an unhelpful suggestion OR be so embarrassed that it was that simple all along that he'd walk away in shame.

Just to kinda add to this post I made hours ago, Yamcha is a cool fucking character. Also loyal friend like...my god he gets clowned on by the fandom and by the anime *cough* *cough* SUPER *cough* *cough* so much that it's just disrespectful to him and to him as a character.

WIP DISCORD SERVER

Almost done working on a discord server that's mainly for fans of the Earthlings.

I haven't typed out all the rules just yet. The main rule is to show respect for each other to the best of your ability. If ppl on the same side fight amongst themselves, they cannot progress. And that's exactly what many hateful Saiyan fans want us to do. The discord will be a place for us to unite. We need to have peace amongst ourselves.

SOME RULES SO FAR 📝

If anyone intentionally causes trouble in the server, they will be kicked or banned. Our main goal is to have peace amongst each other. And if we discover that you are a Saiyan fan who has ill intent, you will be kicked or more than likely, you will be banned. This applies for most Vegeta stans since y'all are the ones who gave me the most trouble since I've been online. Most of his stans behave arrogantly. I and others will not put up with it. Hostile Vegeta stans will not be kicked... they WILL be banned. (And tbh, I doubt we will have many Vegeta stans to begin with.)

Another thing... NO NSFW ROSHI OR OOLONG ART. I don't want to see any art or stories of them with any DB women (or even with the guys). If I or mods do see it, then the person who posted it will be asked to delete it (a warning). If it continues to happen, the user will be put in Time Out or you may even be kicked. So, no hentai of Roshi nor Oolong. But also, I will allow very limited hentai of Hercule/Mr. Satan. I like these characters in SFW, but I cannot stand them in NSFW because of how the fandom uses other Earthlings to cause division with the rest of us. Especially so because the fandom uses these characters for hateful stuff towards Krillin more than any other character. So, to reiterate, NO NSFW ROSHI. NO NSFW OOLONG. VERY LITTLE NSFW HERCULE. The only NSFW Hercule stuff allowed is of him x a character with a minor role. Example being Hercule x Erasa. I DO NOT want to see Hercule x 18 or Chi-Chi! You want to do Hercule x Bulma during the Cell Saga & after? Sure. Hercule is only allowed very little on my server. (No NSFW Pilaf art either. Unless you want to put him with Mai, I guess that's ok. But I don't wanna see him with other characters at all.)

Another rule to help keep peace amongst ourselves is DO NOT share or create works that cause division for Earthling fans. An example would be to not have Krillin with Bulma unless its during times when she IS NOT with Yamcha. If YamBul broke up? Sure. But not when they are together. With Launch, since she and Tien never actually got together, then works of Krillin or Yamcha with Launch are fine. (I believe it is stated somewhere that Tien doesn't care for romantic relationships.) Since 18 is married to Krillin, there will be no art shared of her with any other guy. If you want to post art of Yamcha x Maron (I call her Malon) then you better make it clear that it's AFTER Krillin dumped her. And since in DBH, Yamcha has a new girlfriend, I'd appreciate it if the art shared of Virdo is just her by herself or her with Yamcha. I don't have any intentions to draw any Krillin x Virdo. (Edit: NO TWINCEST! Meaning no 17 x 18 stuff. 18 is with Krillin, so there will be no 18 x not Krillin stuff shared. 17 falls under this umbrella.)

WARNING; In this server, it will be 100% okay to NTR or cuck characters like Roshi, Oolong, Hercule, Gero, and some if not all of the Saiyans. But, if some users express that they are uncomfortable with NTR, then we will hide the images as a "SPOILER" & give a warning.

CHANNELS 🌐

I may need to do more adjustments. Like have a place for SFW & NSFW art for aliens that aren't Saiyans. That can be figured out later when users make suggestions in the suggestion channel.

I have also created a channel specifically for official Saiyan x Earthling ships. Meaning there will be no place for fan-ships like Goku x Suno, Gohan x Erasa, Raditz x Launch, nor Vegeta x anyone other than Bulma. Its a place specifically for canon ships that involve Saiyans. And I'm generous enough to allow Broly x Cheelai even though that is not a canon ship.

There will also be a special server for a select few to chat in. I may decide to add some others as time goes by. But, I will have to be very careful with who I add to that. Gotta make sure they are an Earthling fan before they are a Saiyan fan.

(Networking is something I mentioned before.)

In these particular channels, we can strategize & discuss ways to improve how the Earthling characters we love can be viewed in a more positive light. Here, we will present facts to oppose the lies spread in the fandom. FACTS OVER FEELINGS, BUT... we will also take into account the way each other feels about subjects so that those emotions can align with the facts. If they do align with facts, we validate & help figure out ways to promote such factual feelings in the fandom.

(Many Saiyan fans seem to put feelings over facts and in opposition to facts. But they are so forceful that they lead to much of the negativity & toxicity in the fandom towards Earthlings. Many behave like Vegeta before he turned good. Lying so much that they believe the lies themselves.)

We can discuss about how to speak with ppl and other artists online too. We don't want to insult artists, but would rather encourage them to draw what we like every now and again. But we need to learn to avoid the ones who are opposed to Earthling fans & have hatred of Earthling characters. We don't support them financially nor do we promote their art. Some speak like they don't want or need us anyway, so why would we retweet their art? In hopes they change and do art we like? No. We MAKE them change by not supporting them. And if they don't change, then they have lost our support for good.

(Personal thing; I do not like or retweet art of 18 if Roshi is in the background. That enforces Roshi with 18. I only retweet lewd art of her when she's by herself or with Krillin.)

EMOJIS 🤪

I have some emojis made up. I may change or add different ones. But, I'd like for most of the emojis to be DB characters since it's mainly a DB server. (Notice how I have very few Saiyan emojis compared to the Earthling emojis. That's intentional. I may even get rid of the Saiyan ones all together in the future. Who knows.)

I will also encourage Two-Factor Authentication for the safety of those who I give invites to. We want to be safe. If I had angry Vegeta stans try to get my twitter blocked, then I'm sure they would attempt to come after a group of Earthling fans too.

This is mainly for Earthling fans to have a place to chat with each other and build without the interference of hateful Saiyan fans or fans who hate Earthling characters like Krillin, Yamcha, & Chi-Chi.

LASTLY...

What do you think about the server icon and title? "Earthling Energy" was the best I could come up with. 😅 It's meant to represent the gathering of our positive energy into a hope filled Spirit Bomb to be used against certain types of ppl in the fandom.
