Your death did more than take a toll on me, it took a toll on the entire world. Things shifted all over when we lost you, lost your brightness, your warmth. It started with Luffy and I, sure, but the whole world felt your loss. For a while, it felt like you took all the warmth in the world with you. Wano had never been duller, the cave never colder, the world never lonelier. I would fall asleep clinging to the logbook most nights, imagine you reading it to me. Eventually, some things got better, but not everything. Some things only got easier. Losing you never once got better, there was always a pain in my heart when you were brought up. I always missed you, always longed for your warmth and smile to grace my lonely nights as they had before, but not once did I believe you let me down. Luffy came, just like you said he would. Kaido was defeated and the borders were open, just like you said they would be. I, eventually, got to travel the seas. My only wish was that you would’ve been there to set sail with me, and maybe you did in some ways, the little pieces of you I took with me, but you never once disappointed me.
