A nova série do Disney+, Magnum, acaba de ganhar um novo nome no elenco. Segundo o Deadline, Byron Bowers entra para o elenco, mas seu papel ainda não foi revelado.
A série Wonder Man fará parte do Marvel Spotlight.

haunted house, grave robber, witches' brew, cryptid sightings,
Haunted House: How much would it cost to get you to stay in a haunted house?
well joke’s on me cos it happened when i was 13 babysitting someone’s kids and pretty sure i didn’t even get paid lol. but idk. like i love horror and stories but part of me is weirded out more over the exploitation and capitalism surrounding haunted places than anything else. if it’s fictional fine. but like do i really wanna intentionally go to disturb a place people got hacked to death or something? do i feel like fucking with someone’s past property and desecrating an object or place for funsies? no. do i wanna own zak bagans’ cursed corpse when he dies soon? hell no. and pay blood money to see this stuff on top of that? yikes. don’t get me wrong, i GET the appeal and fascination of ghosts/the supernatural and i’d be lying if i said i’m not interested/wouldn’t be tempted. i’d also be a liar if i said i haven’t seen ghost adventures or watched horror documentaries. so idk. guess it’d depend like... if there was a way to do it respectfully. but like if someone tells me a family of four was murdered next door irl and invite me to go see it just because, then nah. or like i’ve been to the town where ed gein did his shit and hell fucking no. if it’s super vague or fictional, then probably but i won’t give a number send me money to paypal first fjfdjfds. but yea basically ghost shit could be cool, but i wouldn’t intentionally be a nasty about it. there has to be a line is all lol
Grave Robber: Have you ever tried to talk to a ghost?
Cryptid Sighting: What cryptid fascinates you the most?
idk if it’s at least part dragon or reptile i’m probs there tho.
Witches’ Brew: What would be put into a potion to summon you?
idk who i am but at the moment?: lucky charms’ marshmallows, rp posts from my bestie, bts, and a bed

Review : Us (2019)
The true scale of how much I slept on Jordan Peele pre-Get Out cannot be measured by traditional measures. Hindsight, being 20-20, has shown me the error of my ways, and Peele is seemingly on a ‘can do no wrong’ trajectory at the moment. Case in point is the immaculately crafted thriller/observation piece that is Us.
Adelaide Thomas (Lupita Nyong’o), during a 1986 family trip to the Santa Cruz boardwalk, is traumatized while separated from her parents via an extremely strange incident involving a doppelganger she encounters. Many years later, Adelaide is forced to return to Santa Cruz with her family : husband ‘Gabe’ Wilson (Winston Duke), along with her daughter Zora (Shahadi Wright Joseph) and her son Jason (Evan Alex). Despite her fears, Adelaide attempts to take part in the vacation with her family, along with family friends Josh (Tim Heidecker) and Kitty Tyler (Elisabeth Moss) and their twin daughters Gwen (Cali Sheldon) and Noelle (Noelle Sheldon). A series of strange coincidences puts Adelaide on high alert, and after a brief scare involving Jason, her fears become founded in ways she cannot imagine when a group of strangers shows up at the family’s vacation home. The strangers turn out to be copies of the Wilson family, putting the actual family on high alert as they try to not only defend themselves, but make sense of a situation spiraling out of control rapidly.
Taken at face value, Us is a compelling and highly effective horror/suspense film. The idea of PTSD is used to an extreme, putting Adelaide in constant fear of the ‘possibility’ of danger well before it ever manifests. The way that the fear is present regardless of whether it is day or night time puts viewers squarely in Adelaide’s shoes, as suddenly anything foreign or unfamiliar is immediately labelled a possibly threat. Even her monologue about the ‘black cloud’ that follows her and restricts her ability to relax ends up being extremely on the nose, as the issue with her not ‘feeling like herself’ becomes a statement that validates itself in very real ways.
Where Us truly shines, however, is in the realm of subtext and symbolism. There is so much to unfold that an entire article can probably be written on it... the presence of coincidences and parallels hits every mark on the range between obvious and subtle, be it this like the Black Flag t-shirts, the existence of 11:11 as both a palindromic time and a biblical verse, wall symbology, rabbit symbology and so much more. Mythic parallels are present in the form of the Native American mirror maze that is transformed into a Merlin-based maze, both of which lean on the ‘vision quest’ process to find yourself. The way that the ‘tethered’ work via the attacking of personal identities, and the systematic attempt at breaking down those identities, is enhanced by their declaration at being American. The persistence of an enemy that ‘looks like us’, ‘are human too’, and the ultimate journey about the burden of validating your existence all sit heavy with the audience, and that’s before we are hit with the final bits of information that throw everything we’ve just seen into question.
In terms of production, Peele is establishing himself as a Spielberg-level technician, operating on all levels with the hand of a seasoned professional. Humor is present throughout, and allowed to operate in tandem with the suspenseful elements, resulting in moments where you’re allowed to laugh, but not at the expense of feeling uneasy. Narratively, there are levels upon levels of observations about the American experience, the Black experience, the experience of those living in the wake of traumatic experiences, and even brief observations about gender and familial roles. Even brief nods to other impactful films are present, be it a handful of nods to Jaws, or even the character of Jason adorning a mask, both in his normal incarnation and his Pluto-tethered form. Peele even manages to plant very specific seeds in regards to tunnels and Hands Across America that end up paying off with style, and not just playing out as obvious callbacks.
Us provides the rare opportunity for all cast to embrace their range in the form of dual roles, and everyone more than steps up to that challenge, from top-billed to supporting roles. Lupita Nyong’o, Shahadi Wright Joseph and Evan Alex specifically shine in this capacity, with each managing to be several levels of endearing and sinister in their normal and tethered roles. Winston Duke is allowed once again to shine comedically without sacrificing or undercutting the gravity of the story, giving the film a true heart in the midst of extreme unease. Tim Heidecker and Elisabeth Moss not only embody perfect casting as the screwed up ‘friends of the family’, but the wholly lean into their ‘tethered’ incarnations to great effect. Cali and Noelle Sheldon seem to completely understand how eerie their presence as twins can be in the context of the bigger picture, and like everyone else, they fall right in line for both sides of their performance.
Us will certainly be getting repeat viewings, as there is quite a bit to unpack. All of these thoughts are just my initial impressions of a film that has firmly set itself as my movie of the year, but I know that there is quite a bit that I have not picked up on. I can’t wait to own this one, and I look forward to conversations with friends and fellow film-lovers about all that lies within Us.
