The serene silence of Narukami Shrine was disrupted only by the gentle rustle of leaves and the occasional chirping of birds. The sun was beginning its descent, casting a warm, golden hue over the sacred grounds. Y/N stood at the foot of the grand staircase, looking up at the long ascent ahead. Taking a deep breath, she began her climb, each step bringing her closer to the illustrious Guuji, Yae Miko.

Y/N had been summoned by the Lady of the Shrine herself, a rare and significant event. Yae Miko was known for her wisdom and playful demeanor, and her summons often held deeper meanings than what appeared on the surface. As Y/N reached the top of the stairs, she found herself standing before the elegant shrine, its ancient wood and intricate carvings a testament to its history and importance.

"Welcome, Y/N," came a melodious voice that seemed to blend with the wind. Y/N turned to see Yae Miko approaching, her fox-like ears twitching slightly. The high priestess's eyes sparkled with mischief and something else that Y/N couldn't quite place.

"Lady Yae," Y/N greeted, bowing respectfully. "You summoned me?"

Yae Miko smiled, a hint of amusement dancing in her eyes. "Indeed, I did. Come, walk with me." She gestured for Y/N to follow her as she began to stroll through the shrine grounds. "Tell me, Y/N, how have you been finding your duties here at the shrine?"

Y/N walked beside Yae Miko, feeling the comforting presence of the Guuji beside her. "It has been an honor to serve the shrine, Lady Yae. Every day brings new challenges and rewards."

Yae Miko nodded thoughtfully. "And have you found any time for yourself? It's important to maintain balance, even in service."

Y/N hesitated for a moment. "I suppose I haven't been taking much time for myself lately. There is always so much to do."

Yae Miko stopped walking and turned to face Y/N, her eyes softening with concern. "You mustn't neglect yourself, Y/N. Your well-being is just as important as your duties." She reached out, gently taking Y/N's hand in hers. "I called you here today not just as your superior, but as someone who cares about you."

Y/N felt her heart skip a beat at the touch and the sincerity in Yae Miko's words. "Lady Yae, I…"

Before she could finish, Yae Miko smiled warmly. "Y/N, we are more than just shrine maiden and Guuji. We are friends, are we not?"

Y/N nodded, feeling a warmth spread through her chest. "Yes, Lady Yae. We are."

Yae Miko's smile grew, and she gently squeezed Y/N's hand before letting go. "Good. Now, there's something I wish to show you." She led Y/N to a secluded area of the shrine grounds, where the trees formed a natural canopy overhead, filtering the light into a dappled pattern on the ground.

In the center of this hidden grove was a small, serene pond. The water was crystal clear, reflecting the sky and surrounding trees. Yae Miko knelt beside the pond, motioning for Y/N to join her.

"This place is special," Yae Miko began, her voice soft and reverent. "It's a place of reflection and peace. Whenever I feel burdened or need to think, I come here."

Y/N knelt beside Yae Miko, feeling the tranquility of the grove wash over her. "It's beautiful," she whispered.

Yae Miko turned to Y/N, her eyes filled with a gentle intensity. "Y/N, there is something I've been meaning to tell you." She paused, her expression becoming more serious. "I've watched you closely since you arrived at the shrine. Your dedication, your kindness, your spirit… they have all touched me deeply."

Y/N's breath caught in her throat as she listened, her heart pounding in her chest.

Yae Miko took a deep breath, her eyes never leaving Y/N's. "Y/N, I care for you deeply. More than I ever thought I could care for anyone. You have become so important to me, and I… I love you."

The words hung in the air, and Y/N felt a rush of emotions. Her heart swelled with joy and love, and tears pricked at the corners of her eyes. "Lady Yae, I… I love you too," she managed to say, her voice trembling with emotion.

Yae Miko's face lit up with a radiant smile, and she reached out to gently caress Y/N's cheek. "You have no idea how happy that makes me," she whispered. "I was afraid you might not feel the same."

Y/N placed her hand over Yae Miko's, leaning into the touch. "I've admired you for so long, Lady Yae. Your strength, your wisdom, your kindness… I've fallen in love with all of it."

Yae Miko's eyes shimmered with unshed tears, and she leaned in closer, her lips brushing against Y/N's in a tender, heartfelt kiss. Y/N closed her eyes, savoring the feeling of Yae Miko's soft lips against hers, the warmth and love that radiated from her.

When they finally pulled away, Yae Miko rested her forehead against Y/N's, her eyes closed as she held Y/N close. "We will face many challenges together," she murmured. "But as long as we have each other, I believe we can overcome anything."

Y/N nodded, her heart filled with love and determination. "Together," she echoed. "Always."

The two of them sat by the serene pond, their hands entwined, basking in the warmth of their newfound love. In that secluded grove, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the tranquility of the shrine, they found a peace and happiness that they had both longed for.

As the sun set, casting a golden glow over the shrine, Yae Miko and Y/N knew that they had found something truly special. Their love was a bond that would only grow stronger with time, and together, they would face whatever the future held, side by side.

The Guuji of the Grand Narukami Shrine loves to tease and fluster anyone, everyone knows this but what they do not know is there one person who can somewhat tell Miko to stop.

Her mortal lover, you.

Being alive for 500 years now, Miko can say that she has seen it all and has felt it all. Everyday, every lifetime will be terribly boring for her if she doesn't find the small entertainments in life.

But this time, she wanted something a little more serious, she wanted a lover. Whoever and whatever they will be, it was okay. An oni, a tengu, can be related to fish-heck, even an archon! As long as they are Miko's type. She didn't really consider dating a mortal, wanting to have a lover that also has the same lifespan as she does but alas, love does move in mysterious ways.

You and Miko met when you first moved to Inazuma, finally living your dreams of travelling across all nations and ultimately staying in Inazuma when the nation opened up to the public. For you, Inazuma brings this comfort you wanted and the nation truly is beautiful. When you settled down, you visited the Grand Narukami Shrine, wanting to pray to the electro archon to keep you protected as well even if you came from another nation. Miko approached you to introduce herself, not knowing that is the start of your story with her.

Going up the shrine is always a pain in the ass, not knowing why your girlfriend decided to make people climb up the mountain when going to the shrine. Stairs would be appreciated, you know? Even so, you still frequently visit the shrine to see yourself girlfriend.

When you finally arrived, some shrine maidens greeted you, telling you that the Guuji is in her usual spot under the tree. Miko turned around when you called for her, smiling at you softly, approaching you.

"Hello, little one. It's nice to see you here."

"Wait give me a moment-" You said, crouching down a little to catch your breath, the sight amusing your girlfriend.

"Seriously though, when are you gonna put some stairs?" Miko chuckled, arranging your hair a little, feeling some strands sticking to your face due to your sweat.

"Sweetie, I told you it's for exercise." She chuckled when you rolled your eyes.

You and Miko hanged out in the shrine, talking about anything and anyone that came to your minds. The other shrine maidens would look at you two, still in shock on how you manage to make Miko like that. Everytime you were here, the Guuji would instantly and always be in a good mood, wanting for you to just live in the shrine with Miko as the difficulty of their works decides on the mood of the guuji.

Yae Miko does want you to finally live with her, but she also does not want to pressure you, specially since you always complain about the lack of stairs when going up the shrine.

She'll wait for when you finally agree to come live with her, she just hopes that it comes before she finally asks you to marry her.

Uh oh. Is the look on your face really that obvious?

“Um, it's just...I was thinking...” You trailed off, not wanting to meet Lady Guuji's gaze at the moment.

“Go on, dear. It's not polite to keep a lady waiting, you know.” Well neither are the words that are about to leave my mouth, ma'am. I wouldn't call these 'polite' either...

Taking a deep breath, you nervously blurted out, “It's just- You're very pretty, and I think I'd like to bend you over something–”

Miko's eyes widened. Your eyes widened. A comically timed breeze blew by, punctuating the awkwardness surrounding the Grand Narukami Shrine as your words hung in the air.

It seemed as if several weeks had passed before Lady Yae finally spoke, “My, my~ I didn't think you would be so bold-” Miko giggled, and if her sentence had stopped there you would have assumed she was making fun of you.

“If you think you can, then show me what you've got. Actions speak far louder than words, little one~”

“Damnit!” An expensive vase is thrown at the wall and shatters once it makes contact with the wall. “Look again!” Shrieked your Doppelganger making the poor soldier shrink back before running off to search for you

They card their fingers through their hair and the more keen eyes could see that the imposter slightly tug at their hair

“Where are they?!” They turn towards the tall blonde woman

“I do not know who you are referring to.” The Tsarita stated coldly

“You know who I’m referring to.” Your doppelganger snarled as they stormed towards the cryo archon but stop when Piero steps in between the two

“I would suggest you control yourself before you cause more of a scene.”

A scowl forms on the double’s face but they stop as if something or someone is telling them something, their hands find their way to the large orange pendant. The unusual stone catches the eye of Pantalone, he watches the crook impersonating his creator with interest, mainly their gem. Instantly noticing how the pendant shines bright an abnormal amount unlike any precious gem he has come across.

A twisted smirk quickly replaces the scowl on your doppelganger’s face. “You know, I’m feeling awfully generous today. But I swear if I find out that you were harboring them, your beloved land will go up in flames.” They look up at Piero who hides the utter hatred and disgust under a stoic expression, but let the mask slip a bit when he hears the imposter’s next words “I will not hesitate to do it again.”

With a simper turn away from the Tsarita and her Harbingers and slams open the large doors.

The doors close with a loud bang and after a few moments of an intense silence the Tsarita finally turned towards the Harbingers, her usual ice cold expression now is replaced with one of panic

“Mobilize each and every one of your forces! We need to find their Grace as soon as possible, before that snake gets them!” The Tsarita announced, a level of urgency present in her voice.

The Harbingers bowed and make their way out of the meeting hall

The sound of heels rapidly clicking on the floor fill the halls as Arlecchino makes her way through the corridor

“Lady! Lady Arlecchino!” A voice shouted out from behind her. “Thank the archons I’ve found-”

Sharp nails dig into the delicate skin of the poor agent’s neck as he is slammed into the nearest wall, sure that a rib was broken from due to the impact

“Out of uniform and improper manners, you better have a good excuse for this.” Arlecchino said as she squeezed the agent’s neck

“It-it’s regarding their… Grace……” At the mention of your title this causes her to loosen her grip on Alexei’s neck

“Talk.”

“I ran into them as they were fleeing, they swapped my for theirs so they couldn’t easily be seen. Their Grace wanted me to tell you, they’re with Lord Tartailga and the traveler… they said they needed to leave until the suspicion dies down.”

Arlecchino releases the agent which causes him to fall onto the floor and clutch his neck, this causes him to break out into a coughing fit.

Arlecchino makes her way back to the Tsarita to alert her on the new information

“Are you sure it’s really a good idea for me to step foot here?” You asked as you walked up the steps to the Grand Narukami Shrine. The sun long had set, the moon high in the sky and in its constant full phase, and the normally busy streets are empty with only the sounds of cicadas replacing them

“Don’t worry, with that little spell our Prince put on you and the fact that Ei is in her head again, you’re safe from detection.” Yae explained

You wanted to voice your worries but pushed them down. Gradually you finally reached the top of the shrine and walk towards the Sacred Sakura. You noticed the twins and Childe would periodically look around to see if someone is around all the while Yae confidently strides forward until all of you make it in front of the tree

The Sacred Sakura looked more majestic in person compared to seeing it behind your screen. You almost forgot what you’re supposed to do until Yae subtly clears her throat. You placed your hands on the bark and concentrated on resonating with the tree

A sensation similar to the static shock you get when touching an item that has a built up charge, but instead of feeling the urge to jolt away you find yourself leaning into the sensation. After what felt like a few minutes the static stopped coursing through your body and you take your hands away.

You turn to see your companions talking to you but only your mind could focus on sounds coming up from above. The chirping of the birds flying around becomes a lot more pronounced. No longer falling into the background and sounding more like indistinguishable voices, the type that one would hear in when entering a semi crowded restaurant. You put your hands next to your ears and focus on the sounds coming from above you. As you focus more the chirps slowly become distinct and transition into muffled words until

“They’re here! Their Grace is here!”

“Can they hear us. I want to talk to them so bad!”

“They’re looking at us, could they hear us?”

“I think they can understand us!”

You hold up your hand and watched as multiple birds fly towards you, almost racing to get to you first. However you ended up with birds perched on both arms

“We’re so happy to see you.” One bird spoke

“Are you okay, we heard that the fraud is looking for you.” Another bird explained

“If you need us, then we’ll help you anyway we can!” A third spoke, their constant bombardment quickly overwhelmed you as you tried to discern what they’re saying

“Whoa whoa whoa, just like people I need you little guys to talk to me one at a time. I get that you’re all happy to see me but I’m a bit when you all talk at the same time overwhelmed.” You gently explained to the birds and saw them look at each other almost as if they were silently communicating with each other

“Paimon’s confused, what’s happening?” The floating girl said as she put her hand on her head trying to figure out what’s happening before her

“The Ley Lines contain the memories of Teyvat and thus the more they resonate with them their Grace is able to retrieve their old powers back.” Aether explained

“Hmm, why not just go to that giant tree in Sumeru I heard them mention before just to get it over with?” Childe asked

“That would bring more harm than good to their Grace, they need to slowly integrate themselves with Ley Lines before resonating with Irminsul!” The blond prince glared at the Harbinger

“Whoa! It’s just a suggestion!” Childe hissed back

“Your ‘suggestion’ is dumb at best and dangerous at worst. I won’t tolerate anyone afflicting harm upon their Grace.”

“I have never said anything that would imply that, but the opposite. I risked my life for their safety and am an actual vessel instead of being some guy who they barely know!” Childe growled as she stalked towards Aether, both ready to summon their weapons and settle things right then and there

Before the swords could materialize in their hands a violent spark of electricity shocks the two and bring their attention to Guji

“Gentlemen, remember where you are.” Yae warned as static filled the air, causing your hair to slightly rise up. The two men stepped away from each other, Yae cleared her throat and turned towards you. “Well now that that’s settled, why not test out your new powers.”

“Uh, yeah it’s best to see if you got any electro powers. Lumine said desperately trying to dissipate the tension that still lingers between the two

You looked around for the perfect target until your eyes fell on some sakura blooms. Sparks of electro form around your forearm, raising your hand up you threw a small wave of electro towards the petals. The blossoms sparks before condensing into its harvestable form

“Yahoo! ” Paimon cheered

“Perfect. Now that you resonated with the Sacred Sakura do you have any thoughts of where you’re going to next?” Yae questioned

“I think that Mondstadt is our best option due to the fact that their forces are reduced in half because of Varka and his expedition.” You explained your answer without bringing up any of the imposter au fanfics you read before being transported to Teyvat, thankfully a good portion of them are helping you through this process

“You’re right, that is our best bet, I don’t think I’m ready to face the Millelith or the Adepti.” Paimon said

“You say as if you’re the one fighting them.” Lumine retorts giving the fairy the side eye

“With that taking the waverider makes the most sense.” Aether concludes and you and Lumine agree

You and company make the long trek to the waypoint all the way up north on Araumi, all the way making sure to avoid all ruin machines. Thankfully normally aggressive creatures like Hilichurls were pretty passive and let you go through without any issues, even the camps that has Fatui let you past once Childe explained the situation. When you all reached the waverider waypoint Lumine summoned the boat, you get ready to enter the vehicle but turned towards Yae after noticing her not moving from her spot

“This is as far as I can accompany you, but take this.” Yae said as she handed you a charm, “This will help you on your journey, wherever you are in Teyvat if you ever need me just use it.” you looked at your hand to see it’s an omamori amulet. It looks exactly like the one she gave Lumine during the Inazuma Archon quest with the exception of the characters on the paper slip being different and written in a gold ink that shimmers in the light

You hold the amulet to your chest and smiled. “Thank you Yae, once this all blows over I would love to properly visit this place.”

“Give us some time and all of Inazuma will throw you an appropriate celebration for you, your Grace.”

You waved at Miko as you entered the boat, the Guji watched as the waverider disappeared into the distance

“Safe travels, your Grace.”

Yae Miko is very pleased when you run away, she thought you couldn't get any cuter but you proved her wrong, if it's a game of chase you want then that is what you'll get, don't blame her for claiming her prize when she catches you, you started this game and she'll finish it.

Natasha: She is very patient and letting you take your time getting out your confession, she doesn't want you to feel any more embarressed or anxious, she'll give you a relaxed smile until you are done.

When you are done Yukong will grab you before you can get to the running away part, first of all she will confess to you as well, she has waited so long for this, it would be a shame if her 30 minute confession was trashed, then she'll kiss you, she doesn't need to hear your answer to her confession and even if you were to grow afraid and reject her after some... morbid details in her confession, she wouldn't allow you to reject her.

Junko Enoshima: Is she flattered... a bit, who wouldn't if the one you love confessed to you, but Junko is sadistic, she sees how nervous you are and starts teasing and bullying you while forcing you to continue, she loves seeing tears on your eyes, it's such a beautiful face.

Junko will reject you if only to see that heartbroken look on your eyes, well she would of if you hadn't ran away from her, this gets her angry, how dare you run when she is having such fun, she will not run after you, that is below her, instead she'll send Mukuro after you, and when you are brought back to Junko, well... it's punishment time.

"You don't get to run away from me, you'll run away when I tell you to, I was going to reject you but I'm to angry for that so I guess you're mine now"

We're so back!!! Kinda. Who knows? Not me! I've had it almost done for like a month but I just felt so unmotivated it was kinda sad because I still really like working on this 😔

No matter how much time had passed, you still can't bring yourself to trust the four suitors. You don't feel like any of them are taking you seriously. Turns out, Ayaka has rather interesting connections and they're more than happy to help you out.

But now your problem is dealing with an even more obnoxious group…

Part two: chapter 1- The gang is here.

Waiting around for Ayaka is sometimes the most tiresome time of your day. A lot of students approach you and all that polite smalltalk is just so exhausting. You just managed to get to your classroom, but someone unexpected approached you. It was Kuki Shinobu, you never really talked. But how much you wish that wasn't the case. She seemed so… cool.

"Good morning L/N. I was just told to tell everyone that we don't have a homeroom today" she explained and as you looked at her you wanted to talk to her more.

"Good morning Shinobu, thank you very much for the information" you were pretty happy. Even though it was a pretty basic conversation if you can even call it that.

There was something inside you that wanted to speak with her just for even a little bit longer, but you didn't even know what you'd bring up with her. In the end you stayed silent.

That is until Ayaka showed up.

"Good morning Y/N. How was your weekend?" she had that look that made it clear that she will be a little nosy "You promised to take it more seriously, so how is the suitor situation going for you?"

"I went on a date" you weren't sure if what you did could even count as a date… but maybe that was enough for Ayaka. You already told her enough about what happened between you and Miko so maybe she won't be mad about you staying in the same spot once again.

"Can I ask who was the lucky lady?" her looking so happy to have you progress made you rather guilty for getting her hopes up.

"Well, all of us watched a movie together, does that count?"

"So I'm guessing you were only spending time with them as a group besides that incident with Miko?" Ayaka sighed as both of you already knew the answer for that "You have no idea how that lack of your romantic spirit worries me…"

"I did spend some time with them separately too, but it's nothing worth mentioning"

"Alright then, let's do it a little bit differently. Can you tell me how you view your future with them? After all, whoever you choose will end up being your wife so you need to think about it in that way" she pointed out with a hopeful tone.

"I think I can do that" you know that Ayaka isn't the type to push it, but at the same time you just don't want to see her so disappointed.

"Let's start with Miko, what do you think being married to her would be like?"

"Miko hm..? Well, she has her charms. But she only ever sees how someone can entertain her. So I'd be more her jester than her wife" you could definitely see how she'd just mock you in your everyday life, of course she'd also have her good moments… but being married to her would just be a constant humiliation.

"I see, perhaps she wants to help you be more self-aware?…" she tried to play devil's advocate, but you weren't going to accept that.

"Do you truly believe so?" your question made her drop it.

"Let's just move on, what about Ningguang?"

"She seems serious enough… but at the same time I feel like this is just a test to her. Like she wants to prove something to herself… I'm not entirely sure how she'll act like once she does complete her goal" she does seem little competitive about the whole thing. So you wouldn't be surprised to find out that it was all about reaching a goal and not about the "reward".

"When I talked to her she gave me an impression that she's genuinely interested" she wasn't surprised by your skeptical approach by now.

"Well, I disagree" you knew you were stubborn. But you couldn't be too stubborn about something as important as this.

"And Yelan? You mentioned that she's sweet to you" she was really trying to get you to agree on at least one thing.

"That's true but, it doesn't seem like this is care in a romantic sense. It might sound a little weird but she's sort of acting more like a guardian angel?" You couldn't find a different word. While you appreciate her taking your feelings to account you just can't help but think that it's more of a pity thing.

"That still sounds pretty romantic. She's like your knight in shining armor" she tried to lighten up the mood and help you think of it differently.

"It's not what I said" you correct her, even though you know what she was trying to do.

"My apologies, I was just trying to help you see it even just a little bit differently. Then I suppose it's time for me to ask about Eula"

"I can't read her at all. She snaps at me often and I get a feeling that she doesn't even want to be here" but you can't help but wonder just how and when did she meet your grandfather.

"Maybe much like you, she's the type to keep her feelings to herself. She doesn't have to have a reason"

"Yeah, gaining back status and money sounds about right" now that you thought about it you could definitely see it. She did lose everything and an opportunity like a marriage with you would set her back to a wealthy lifestyle, minus the expectations since as your spouse she wouldn't have to do literally anything.

Ayaka sighed at that "If that's how you see it" she paused for a moment "But I think I have an idea as to what we could do… if you're willing to accept some help"

"What is it?" you're honestly scared to ask… but surely Ayaka wouldn't hide much from you?

"I think it's better if you see for yourself. Let's go to our usual spot after school, okay?" Nevermind. You just have to leave this to your imagination.

All those classes you had to go through were making you quite the wreck. What did Ayaka mean? How much are you going to regret agreeing?

The two of you are sitting in your favorite cafeteria "So… are you going to tell me what are you plotting?"

"I'm not plotting anything, I just asked a friend to help you out" she looked proud to admit that and you decided not to comment.

You waited in silence, each time a girl entered you wondered if she was that friend but turns out that they were strangers.

That is until a girl wearing a facemask came in. Once she looked at Ayaka and then you, she turned around to leave and that's when Ayaka followed after her to stop her.

She had her hair tied in a very specific way, her eyes looked very intimidating but you couldn't shake off the feeling of familiarity when you looked at her.

"I should've known it was about her" the girl rolled her eyes when Ayaka tried to stop her from leaving.

"You promised to lend us our aid, please…" she pleaded.

"Ugh, fine. But don't you dare tell anyone about this" the girl had a very annoyed tone.

"Hello, I assume that you already know me..?" you enter the conversation.

"Y/N don't you recognize her?"

"There's no point in playing the guessing game" she sighed "I'm Kuki Shinobu"

When she said that, it was almost like just now your brain registered even knowing someone with that name. She looked so… different.

"Oh- I'm sorry for not recognizing you" apologizing you take a closer look, although she did look completely different you really should've noticed that it was her…

"Don't be, not being recognized is my goal after all" she shrugged.

"Right." now you feel even more like an idiot…

"So, Ayaka, what did you bring me here for?" Shinobu was quick to put everything back on track.

"Oh, I just wanted you to help Y/N with her suitors. You spend so much time on dates and all, I figured you'd be able to give her any advice"

"I'm not as experienced as you make me out to be. But alright, I'll help out. It's just so you won't tell anyone about my secret though"

"I'm grateful for your help regardless!" you didn't mean to sound so excited about that… but just the idea of getting a new ally/friend is what makes you this way. But that's just a hunch…

"Okay…" she sounded slightly weirded out by your enthusiasm "So, what's the problem exactly?"

"It's a bit tough to explain" you try to gather your thoughts. I mean, there is a lot you could say here. This whole situation is nothing but problems…

"I can already tell you're thinking too hard about this. I get it, it's about marriage after all. But if you don't have any trust in them and you don't plan on doing anything about it… then there's no reason for you- or them- to waste time if what you're looking for is something serious" she paused "Then again, they really must be taking you seriously if they agreed to potentially marry you so quickly"

Those words were like a trigger… That's it! The main issue (now) is that you don't know if they're thinking of you so seriously! "You're right Shinobu! I need to check just how serious they are about me!"

"That's not what I meant…" Shinobu sighed

"But how do I do that..?" You pause for a second but Shinobu takes that for an opportunity to say something "But what about you? Do YOU take them seriously?"

"Huh..?" You were surprised by the question, of course you did… at least you treated them better than they do you… right?

"She might be onto something" Ayaka looked at you "Think about it, we need a way to both let you see them in different light- while also help you see if they care about you"

"Why do you insist on making this so complicated…" Shinobu looked defeated over how much you were scheming "Alright, before you get any crazy ideas let's settle for this. We'll see how they'd react if someone were to hit on you"

"Hit on me..?" You looked at her.

"Not me. I'm not exactly best at acting something like that out when I don't mean it" she shrugged.

"I think that's a great idea, of course only if Y/N will be willing to execute it"

The idea of some stranger hitting on you wasn't something you'll agree on so easily "Hold on just a moment!" your protest was loud and clear "If not you… then who?"

"A friend of mine" she doesn't elaborate.

"Are you going to tell me more or..?"

"You'll see when he gets here. So, are you willing to agree to this or not?" A guy will help you out..? So not only a stranger but some guy will hit on you? Then again if he's a friend of Shinobu he might not be so bad…

"Alright. Fine. Let's do it…"

After that Shinobu got in contact with the mysterious guy. Meanwhile you contacted Thoma so he can prepare some excuse to call them over one by one. He didn't exactly like the idea but at the same time he knew that it'd help you feel more at ease… so he decided to help.

The three of you were first waiting for Shinobu's friend before you started contacting the suitors. You didn't have to wait long but as you heard someone call out to her you were quite surprised by the sight.

The dude was very tall and had rather intimidating attire, if not for his friendly smile as he approached you three you probably wouldn't want this guy anywhere near you. He offered his hand for you to shake and said "Hey! Name's Arataki Itto- the one and oni leader of the Arataki gang ready to help out!" he was full of energy… wait did he say gang??

"I'm Y/N, and this is Ayaka" you shook his hand gently.

"Shinobu filled me in and I'll say it right now I don't like the idea of making you uncomfortable. BUT a friend of Shinobu is a friend of the gang and for friends of the gang we move mountains if that's needed! So if I need to act like a jerk, you'll get a 5 star performance!" His loud voice was slowly starting to overwhelm you a little.

You definitely had to ask more about the gang. You can't allow yourself to be associated with a bunch of criminals "Say… about this gang-"

"It's just how he likes to call our friend group" Shinobu cut in before Itto got to respond. As true as it was, it definitely offended him a little on how she put it. However, her being straightforward with it gave you quite the relief.

"How about we start calling them over?" Ayaka changed the topic and that's exactly what you did.

First to be called over was Ningguang. When you looked over at Itto his demeanor changed from friendly to one that made you cringe on the spot… but to be honest any man flirting with you would make you feel that way.

His words just went over your head. Even if your short interaction made it clear that he wasn't a jerk, you couldn't help feeling uncomfortable which almost made him break his character.

But he didn't have any opportunity to slip as Ningguang pulled you away from him, confusing the two of you.

She just walked off, hugging your arm and leading the way “This way, it's more crowded there and we'll lose the guy in no time” she said calmly, she was actually surprised Itto didn't follow after you, but it was just getting rid of the problem altogether. It took you a moment to speak up “Thanks Ningguang… but uhm…” now it was for the awkward part… after being “saved” it was time to explain it “This was a test”

“A test you say?” she raised her eyebrow “Well, how did I do?” by the look on her face, you really couldn't tell what was she thinking of your deception.

“You did… well I suppose” you answer without really thinking about it.

“We're heading back to test the rest, I assume?” she started to lead the way back, with a nod you followed her in silence.

Second one that was put to a test was Eula. When you gave Itto the sign, his act was up once again the moment you saw Eula. This time his act was a little bit too convincing or Eula was too pissed to even stop and think… when she walked up to him she didn't hesitate to twist his arm “Can't you see that she isn't interested? Looks like someone has to teach you some manners-”

“Eula wait!” you interrupt “It's all an act!” upon hearing that, she released poor Itto from her grip “Hmpf! Joking about a matter like that is unforgivable” she crossed her arms as she glared at the both of you.

“Sorry!” both you and Itto speak at the same time.

“Why are you apologizing?” Shinobu joins in the conversation after leaving her hiding place with Ayaka and Ninguangg “It was part of the plan”

“Hm? And who are you?” Eula turns to Shinobu “and what are you doing here?” she looks over at one of her rivals.

“I'll handle things from here, call over the next suitor” Shinobu said as she led Eula out back to the hiding place.

Now you only need to wait for Miko… who probably is suspicious of something by now. And Itto now knows that he can pretty much expect anything… so he only hopes Miko’s approach will NOT end like Eula’s.

Upon hearing Itto’s comments she just smirked “Hello, darling” she ignored the big guy “My, my to think I'd catch you flirting, with a man no less” she clicked her tongue “And here I thought we were supposed to take each other seriously” you could feel how fake the hurt in her voice was, but even though you were aware of it… you recognized how it must look to her “Miko- wait…”

“Oh I'm not going anywhere, but we will talk about this later” she smirked “You still have to test Yelan, don't you? Where am I supposed to wait?”

Without talking much about it you showed her the way to the rest.

And last was Yelan. Itto didn't notice her as she stood behind him. She gave you a questioning look, almost as if she tried to ask without using the words “Is that guy bothering you” but she was pretty subtle about it compared to other women. But it was pretty obvious that you didn't want someone- a man no less, hitting on you. From the look on her face it was clear that she could tell that something was off about the situation but she finally spoke up “Can I help you with something, sir?” She placed her hand on his shoulder, remembering how his arm got twisted last time, he moved out of the way immediately.

“... Did one of us do something to that poor guy?” She held back a laugh “Either way, I hope you're okay” she was clearly talking to the both of you before she spotted the others and you joined the group.

After everything you start all going your way home, but you quickly go to stop Shinobu (, Ayaka and Itto) who moved in the opposite direction “Wait a moment!”

“Do you need something?”

“I was wondering…” you trail off “would you mind if we… talked more often?”

For a second she didn't reply, her silence was making you nervous on top of the fact that you asked something like that near witnesses. But before your anxiety claimed you she finally responded “Sure, but avoid talking to me in school, alright?”

“huh, why?” The spectator- Itto asked the question for you.

“I just don't like attention. And with someone as popular as you people would start talking before we even know it. So either avoid me completely or only talk to me through text” she explained, she didn't seem thrilled with the aspect of being your friend but that just might be because you can't read her emotions too well due to her mask.

“Sure thing! You won't hear a word from me then” you quickly affirm her and go your way for your driver to pick you up before Thoma gets too worried about your absence.

After you were out of hearing radius Ayaka started a conversation “What do you think of her suitors?”

“I definitely don't want to get on their bad side again…” Itto looked at his hand, remembering Eula's strong grip.

“They seem normal enough… but what I think of them is irrelevant” Shinobu decided to not say anything more, however she didn't say everything that's on her mind.

“I see” Ayaka had a slightly suspicious tone. But she knows that's a conversation for later.

Next time you were in school you were still thinking about Shinobu… was she really someone who considered herself your friend? She helped you, sure but if not for Ayaka you don't think she'd give it much consideration if any. Yet you can't help but feel joyous about having another ally. You wanted to talk to her… but you must remember your promise and not be overly clingy. Not like you can even consider looking for her considering you couldn't see her around.

Your phone buzzed suddenly, you look down and see a text from Shinobu “Come to the cafeteria” is all it said. Weren't you supposed to avoid each other? Or better yet, isn't the cafeteria supposed to be closed right now? With those questions in mind you make your way over there and sure enough the doors were open.

“How did you-”

“I said I left something important so they gave me the keys. And that wasn't actually a lie. I didn't want to carry it around so…” she went to retrieve a backpack that was neatly hidden behind the curtains.

“What's inside?”

“A gift, it's a prototype- but… I think you could use something like that”

“A bunny?” You tilt your head as you look at something that looks like a little mascot.

“It's something my family company is developing- we call it Rabi. It might look like a toy but it has plenty of features. Give me your phone so I can install the app” as you waited for it, Shinobu began a bit more detailed explanation “Since you're so anxious about what are your suitors up to, Rabi will basically record whatever you're missing out on”

“Isn't this… kind of wrong? I may not trust them but that doesn't make it okay to invade their privacy”

“It's up to you how or if you'll use it. Besides, you can always just make it record the living room or something”

“Okay but how do I explain… this to everyone?”

“It's a toy from the looks of it. You really don't have to think too hard about this. Just say it's a robot animal and that'll be all they need to know”

“... Why are you even helping me?” You felt dumb for asking so many questions at once but you couldn't help but be curious.

“I do it because I know that otherwise Ayaka won't let me hear the end of it” despite her harsh words her tone didn't match it due to how soft it was. It was clear to you now that you can count on her as a friend. But the whole thing with Rabi… it still feels a bit wrong.

“Do you really think I should-” before you finish the sentence you got cut off.

“Whether you use it is up to you. You can use the functions or just turn it off and put it up in your room as decoration.” she paused “Besides, you're too nice to them. They're pretty much strangers to you so you don't owe them any bit of trust”

“Okay but… how do I use it?”

“It's very beginner friendly” after she saw that the app was done downloading she started to explain some of the basics functions, just in case.

Once you came back home with your new companion the suitors looked quite surprised. None of them asked questions though, their silence made you feel awkward so you just told them everything yourself “It's a robot pet okay? I got it as a gift so don't mess around with it!” You cross your arms after placing Rabi on the ground “It's programmed to take walks around the house so don't mind it” without letting them chime in you walked back to your room.

As you sat down on your bed you looked through Rabi’s eyes. The video quality could use some work but at least the sound was good.

“What do you think about our new roommate?” Miko teased “I'm glad it isn't an actual rabbit” she stretched on the couch.

“She really does find new ways to surprise us, doesn't she?” Yelan looked directly at the robot “What do you think? Hidden camera or something?” When she said that you could feel your heart beating faster, there's no way she'd figure it out so soon!

“I rather believe that she trusts us” Ningguang defended you… which made you slightly more guilty about the camera actually being there.

The women didn't speak much more about the new companion, you put your phone away and laid back down.

As you thought back on all recent events you could hear the robot walking just outside your room. Letting it inside you took time to examine it a bit more. It was just… so cute. You couldn't fight the urge to play with it for a moment.

But your playtime was over as soon as you heard your doors opening, it was Thoma but you didn't feel any less embarrassed about being caught.

“That's an interesting gift…” his warm smile didn't make you feel any less dumb.

“I got it from Shinobu, she was helping me out the other day… and well, this gift is a form of help too”

“Hm? How so?”

“Well… it records things… I just… can't help but still feel anxious!” Upon your confession, Thoma let out a soft chuckle.

“I'm glad you're looking out for yourself, but trust me- if they done or said something I think you should know- I'd tell you”

“I know, but you really can't be around the house all day. I know you wouldn't keep anything from me”

“Alright, enough about that- I'm more curious about Shinobu anyways. How did you get to know her?”

“Ayaka introduced us”

“I see… we're talking about Kuki Shinobu- right?”

You only nod but you can't help but feel a little suspicious of how his tone slightly shifted as he asked about your new friend.

“She sounds like a nice person, giving you such a thoughtful gift and all…” he trailed off, he didn't know her so of course he tried to bait you into telling him a bit more without him having to ask directly.

“That was very nice of her, although I can't really tell what she's really thinking… I'm glad to have made a new friend”

“Alright, that's all I wanted to ask. I'm sorry for barging in before. I'll leave you to whatever you were up to” he pats Rabi for a moment before leaving, returning your embarrassment from before.

As Thoma walked downstairs he started looking for more information about Shinobu. He picked up his phone and made a call.

“Hey there, it's me again… I just wanted to ask for a quick background check if that's okay with you?... Kuki Shinobu, and please make it quick if you can”

Unknown to Thoma, Eula heard every last word. As he turned around he put on his polite face “Is something wrong, Miss Lawrence?”

“The way you're acting, actually. You better stop that before she hates you” she warns him.

“Thanks for the advice but, I'm just doing what a good butler should”

“You sure sound convinced of it” she shot him a judgemental glare, but it didn't phase him in the slightest.

“Calm down now, I'm just looking out for her” as the tension started to rise another voice was heard from a distance “Eula, could you come here for a second?” Miko called for her.

“Go on now, surely you don't want to keep her waiting” Thoma said to Eula who didn't look like she was going to leave… but after a moment however she scoffs and leaves the hall, allowing Thoma to continue his research.

He just didn't want anything to happen to you…

For the FFG...yandere Yae Miko headcanons, but modern! au with a fem! reader. Sorry if it's too vague, I am out of brainrot currently so I have no plot ideas.

Ideally I'd prefer something more specific but a modern! au is an interesting idea, so!! This was super short though so, oops.

In a modern setting I think she would either corner you at work OR you work someplace she frequents, like a coffee shop or a grocery store. She doesn't have a lot of time on her hands so there needs to be something about you that draws her in, even if it's a little plain. A quirk, the way you laugh, talk, breathe. Yae herself is unsure why she even likes you so much. All she knows is that she wants to keep an eye on you.

She's the kind of person who would shower you in gifts. She does this because she just loves to see you smile but it also serves another purpose - to ward of any other possible competition. She may be a flirt and a tease but do not be fooled by this devil may care attitude. Yae Miko will strike back twice as hard if she feels the need to do so. Blackmail, threats, nothing is off the table for her. This is why people start to avoid you. Despite the beautiful mask she wears, Yae is nothing less than a beast.

The type of woman that lives in an expensive condo and has you dolled up 24/7, she always picks out the clothing though. I can see her working in some office job so she definitely has some long and tiring hours under her belt, surely you won't be so cruel as to deny her the simple pleasure of dressing you up? One of her greatest pleasures is taking you to any official gatherings in order to show you off. Nothing makes her happier than seeing you act all cute and shy in front of some company hotshots who think they're all that.

Emotional manipulator might as well be her middle name. The woman never lets you leave the apartment unless she's right by your side. It's not that she's scared that you'll run away or do something as stupid to call for help but rather she just doesn't see the point. Yae Miko is a hardworking woman that makes a ludicrous amount of money. Why would you ever want to leave? Do you have any idea just how many people would kill to be in your shoes? She scolds you with the sweetest voice she can muster, doing her absolute best to hide the glee that threatens to spill straight out of her. Seeing the hopeful light die in your eyes is something that Yae takes great pleasure in, especially since she is the reason why it happened.

It definitely wasn’t something regarding shrine work, unless, of course, it is. This matter didn’t seem to worry her that much though, she didn’t seem too serious. Could the Lady Guuji herself be asking you to accompany her as a friend? That would be sweet but doesn’t ease you or shake your skepticism. You shake the thought, highly doubtful that this is actually the case.

Throughout the day, your racing thoughts began to fade as you performed your duties. By the end of your day’s work, you had almost completely forgotten about Lady Guuji’s request until thinking about dinner.

You hurried down the steps of the shrine, all the way down Mt. Yougo and through the grassy fields into Inazuma City. Upon nearing the restaurant, Yae already stood, anticipating your arrival. She didn’t notice you at first, this led to you tapping her shoulder and slightly jumping back when she turned to you, smiling.

“I expected you to take longer,” she laughed “shall we head inside?”

You nodded your head as she made way for you to walk through the doorway first, she immediately followed. The lights inside were charming and the setting itself was nice and cozy as well. Yes, you’ve been here before, but never appreciated it as much until being invited by her. You noticed every little detail of the place; from the various scents moving through the air, to the creaking wood and chatter from other patrons. All of these surroundings occupied your mind, consumed you as a distraction from the butterflies fluttering in your stomach.

The two of you sat at the bar, where you both ordered the ever-popular tonkotsu ramen. The silence was awkward at first, even though the ambience of the other customers made up for the lack of conversation from the two of you.

“Aren’t you going to thank me for inviting you out tonight, Y/N?” the kitsune joked. Due to your tenseness and nervousness, you had to fight the urge to apologize profusely.

“My apologies, Lady Guuji. I am very grateful for the invitation and am glad to be here with you tonight. Thank you.” You responded, almost like you were reciting something pre-rehearsed.

“You are allowed to call me Yae, you know? I understand that you’re caught off guard but I imagined that the shock would have worn off by now.” she remarked.

“It’s kind of… see, you’re highly revered and in all honesty, I’m glad you invited me out tonight but I couldn’t quite put my finger on the reason.” You explained to her, trying your best to avoid eye contact, yet stealing glances every few words or so.

“Let me explain.” She smiled and cleared her throat subtly.

“Recently, my ideas for writing have run dry as of late. Then it dawned on me that maybe something different is in order,” She started, “After all, Yae Publishing House is renowned for paving the way, is it not?”

“What might that be?” You asked, your interest piqued.

“Well, how many romantic light-novels have you seen with two female protagonists pining for each other?” She proposed. Come to think of it, she has a point. There aren’t very many or any at all. None that are well-known anyway.

“That does sound interesting, especially since I’m big into light novels, I haven’t yet found any with that being the focus. I would definitely read it, that’s for sure.” You beamed. Yae chuckled, thankful for your insight.Your bowls of ramen were gently placed in front of , the steam warming your face and the scent making your mouth water. You were still intent to hear her plans, so you gave her a look that urged her to keep speaking.

“Come now, eat. I didn’t invite you out for you not to eat, after all.” She smiled as she raised her ladle full of pork broth up to her pink lips, savoring every last drop. “Only for the purpose of writing this story. After all, I can split the sales with you if that’s a motivator of yours.” She proposed.

“I know, I know. This is completely uncalled for and it concerns you that I proposed this out of the blue. Truly I understand,” Yae sympathized, placing a gentle hand on your shoulder “You have all the right to reject this offer. I will not force you to assist me, but I’d very much like it if you did.”

“I…” you tried to speak, but couldn’t muster up the words. While yes, this was quite uncalled for, you weren’t uncomfortable. Flattered, maybe, but not shifting and squirming because you wanted to leave. Only because this was quite sweet, in some weird way. She said it was fake but sincerity was sprinkled in her voice.

“I… I have decided… I will help you with this investigation of yours.” You accepted, turned away from her out of embarrassment.

“Are you certain? You look like you're quite bashful and unsure.” She asked to confirm, and you faced her.

“Miss Yae, all due respect, who in their right mind would reject an opportunity like this?” You deadpanned, causing her to giggle in response.

“I suppose you have a point.”

“So does this mean…?” You asked, raising an eyebrow. She nodded and smirked.

“Hopefully we’ll make the best of partners, my dear Y/N.” She cooed as she handed the man behind the counter a pouch of mora. She then proceeded to get up and offer her arm. You got up and grasped her forearm and smiled up at her.

“Shall I walk you home?” She offered, a loving smile on her lips. You nodded and averted your eyes shyly.

“Yes, Miss Yae.” You grinned from ear to ear. You’d cover your face if you could. A feeling was boiling in your chest and you had no idea what it was. Not anxiety, not fear, but admiration? No. Too soon. That couldn’t possibly be it. It’s only been minutes.

You ran until the layer of snow became thinner and the crunch beneath your shoes resonated less and less. of a heatwave. You ran until the sun that was once rising now sets and paints the sky with a beautiful mixture of red, orange, and purple. You ran despite your feet hurting beyond belief, but the adrenaline kept you pushing forward. You ran despite your lungs burning hotter and a summer day in the midst

Your feet become heavy and your movements became almost sluggish, it seems that Lumine has noticed this

Lumine looks over her shoulder towards you but you see her looking over you and her eyes widen in horror. You look in the same direction and your heart dropped. Just far into the distance you spotted the same jaguar like mask you saw back in Snezhnaya coming at you full speed

“Guys, someone’s found us!” Lumine yelled as she quickly pushed you behind her and summoned her sword

Your assailant summons their weapon, a long wooden claymore lined with pieces of sharp obsidian blades. They swung it at the traveler who expertly dodged the attacks. When Lumine swings her sword the masked individual blocks it with a shield decorated with colorful feathers. They lift up their club to strike Lumine but Aether comes in and stops the attack

The two fall into a familiar rhythm of fighting the attacker and covering the other, Lumine making swings with her right hand whilst Aether does the same with his left hand

The assailant takes out a cord with 3 balls tied to the ends of it and they swing it above their head before throwing it. The string entangles itself around Lumine’s ankles making her fall to the ground. Aether looks at Lumine to ensure she’s okay

“Aether watch out!” Lumine warns

The prince turns around to see their attacker about to deal a blow, but they put up their shield to block the hydro infused arrows, however some water splashes onto them

Seeing the opportunity Aether throws a few lightning strikes towards the assailant to stun them

Childe uses his hydro vision to make a pair of blades and charges at them. Still in a daze the attacker couldn’t react in time to block the slices dealt by the ginger

Lumine finally was able to untangle herself from the bolas

“Childe get down!” Lumine warned and she blasted a large cryo attack at the assailant, freezing them in place

Finally getting their bearings the masked individual puts their hands up in defeat. “I admit defeat, I expected nothing less from the three of you.” They finally spoke

“Who are you?” Aether said while pointing his sword at their neck

Their hands slowly make their way behind their head to remove the mask from their face. You spot two rounded ears covered in a rosette pattern, yellow eyes with slits in the pupils, and short reddish hair

“Oh my god!” You shouted out in surprise. “Wait, who are you?”

“I’m the high priestess in Natlan, Chimalma, I aid the mighty warriors in various thing, but that’s a topic for some other time.” Chimalma introduced herself

“Why should we trust you, for all we know you could have alerted your forces about us.” Aether asked still untrusting of the supposed high priestess

“I know what happened between you and the Raiden Shogun, her seeing your golden blood.” They stated matter of factly. “I also know that the Fatui has been searching for these ‘primogems’, but you haven’t had any luck finding more.”

“How do you know that?!” Lumine asked as she and Childe got in front of you ready to protect you in a moment’s notice

“I don’t mean to bring harm to their Grace, we only wish to help you on your journey.”

“Wait, ‘we?’ Who else is with you?” You asked

“Chimalma wouldn’t have known about your situation if a little birdie hadn’t told her.” A voice replied, you turned your head to see the iconic long pink hair with pink ears drooping because of heavy gold earrings with purple gems, one earring holding an electro vision

“Yae?!” You, Lumine, and Paimon shouted in unison

“Why hello your Grace.” The Guji greeted

“Wh-why are you here?! And how did you know that I’m not the imposter?!”

“Well the Shogun puppet came to the shrine one day and told me about the incident, she even told me about despite Ei seeing your blood but she was forced to raise her blade against you.” You saw Yae’s usual playful expression uncharacteristically turn into one of pain. “I apologize for our little priestess’ brash behavior earlier, I will deal with them later.”

“Wait, I understand where she learned the incident with Ei but how did she learn about the Fatui?!”

“It’s simple,” Chimalma said as she raised her hand out and a blue hummingbird flew over and perched itself her hand. “I had spies watching.”

“Birds talk here?!” You gasped in shock

“They do but only a chosen few can understand them. Soon you’ll understand them.”

“We need to head out soon, it’s getting late and do something about your clothes.” Yae looks over her shoulder and made a little gesture with her hand, a decent sided wooden carriage pulled by animals you don’t recognize and two men dressed in what you assumed to be Natlan clothing come out of the carriage. The twin instantly get in front of you at the sight of the men, sensing your nervousness they give Yae the box and kneel down before you

“Just as Lady Chimalma said, we don’t mean to bring you any harm.” One stated

“We would rather see that our end is met by your hands if you see us as untrustworthy .” The other continued

“No, you’re good. I’m not killing anyone except my doppelganger.” You reassured them

“Natlan warriors are an intense bunch.” Yae said as she walks towards you with the wooden box. “I know it’s not much but it’s all that we could find in such a short period.” Yae opens the box to reveal 7 Primogems

You take the gems and they disappear into a glittery blue dust very reminiscent of a nebula in space. You felt a tiny bit of power course through your arm and up to your chest causing an involuntary shiver racks through your body

“Whoa, I actually felt something this time.” You chuckled

“That’s good to hear, but I know a more effective method to getting your old powers back.”

“Really? What is it?” Paimon asked

“We need to go to Natlan for that.” Chimalma said as she melted the ice trapping her feet in place

“Don’t worry, little one. I will ensure your safety.” Yae said putting her hand on your shoulder in a gesture of reassurance. “However, before we enter Natlan’s boarder’s you all need to change into something less eye catching.” Yae said gesturing to your clothes

The Guji snapped her fingers and the two men go back into the carriage and bring out various clothing items, they present them to you and company

“You have to change out of your clothes to avoid suspicion.” Yae advised

You and the others quickly put on the disguises which consisted of a thick cloth shirt, leggings with a rosette pattern similar to the one that Chimalma has on her ears, and a wooden helmet carved in the shape of a bird, but you were told that could be put on later when in Natlan. Now you resembled the two men clothing wise, you all were ushered into the carriage and settled in. There was only enough room for you and Miko to sit on one side while the others sat right in front of you. The carriage began to make the long journey from Snezhnaya to Natlan, maybe the fact that you were finally stationary in hours because you found yourself dozing off and you almost rested your head on Yae’s shoulder

“You look tired, my dear. Why don’t you rest a little for now.” Yae smiled as she patted her thighs inviting you to lay your head on them

“Oh! A-are you sure, don’t want to impose…” You stuttered out as heat rushes to your face

“Relax, just concentrate on connecting with the tree.”

You took a deep breath and closed your eyes, focusing on the tree you feel power and warmth course through you. You take your hands off the tree and open your eyes to see the blue parts glowing brightly

“So how do you feel?” Lumine asked

“That was intense, but other than that I feel the same.” You replied

“Summon some fire!” Chimalma urged

You hesitantly held out your dominant hand and imagined a flame coming out from your hand and once the image comes into your mind a decently sized fire envelopes your hand. Surprisingly the flame doesn’t hurt you and after a while the flame dies down into nothing

“Whoa, so the way for their Grace to regain their powers is to touch these trees, kinda like Lumine with the statues of the seven?” Paimon asked as she rubbed her chin

“Very intuitive little one, as to why it works for the Ley Lines instead of the statues I do not know.” Yae explains

You spot Aether wanting to say something but stopping himself from doing so, you stopped yourself from prying so to not make the situation awkward

“Now that we’re done here, let’s go time is of the essence.” Yae begins to walk away from the tree

“Wait before you go,” Chimalma said as she knelt down before you. “take this sword with you.” You took the sword and take it out of its sheath to examine it, a brown hilt leading to a blade with similar blue stripes as the tree you just resonated with

“Why are you giving their Grace a sword?! They have us to protect them!” Aether stated also offended at the implication that he and Lumine aren’t enough to protect you

“You never know and besides it’ll help jog up some memories.”

“I think you’re mistaken, I’ve never held a sword like this before.” You said

“Maybe in this life, but in your old life definitely. Everything that the old pyro archon knew, you taught it to them.”

You held the sword and felt something stir inside you and put it back in its sheath

“I’ll hold you to that statement.” You said

“I promise it’ll come in handy.”

You waved Chimalma goodbye and walk back to the carriage. Mentally preparing yourself for your next destination
