Ozzy: My Analysis.

This was a long time coming, because from the very first time I played his route (which also happened to be the first I completed the season to the end with), I knew Ozzy was a fundamentally interesting character that I'd want to dedicate a whole essay for, because it's one way I like to show my affection for these characters 🥺

(Problem was, I felt like I wouldn't of been able to do him justice before, but after my final research run, I don't think that's a road block for me anymore.)

One thing about his route is, no matter how you approach it, there'll always be a level of pain to it. I think the only exception to this is if you tell him, in paraphrase, "I'm interested too, but I'm not ready to commit yet," when he confesses to MC after the Doghouse Challenge, because that option allows MC the best of both worlds.. those two worlds I've experienced first-hand, I'll detail below.

If you tell him "I feel the same way," that day, it'll be held in the back of his mind that, at-least some point in time, he was your #1 choice (even if you end up choosing someone else in the end)

The pain waiting for MC on this path is, of course, how directly affected she is by everything that happened after her shock fake-dumping. (I even liveblogged my reaction to a lot of it, when I consciously paid attention to everything happening outside of Ozzy and MC's bond, within my #my exp tag, early March.)

Him patching things up with Grace, which she revealed to MC during Casa Amor

What he did during Casa, in reaction to seeing MC again in the postcards, (which didn't paint her in a positive light), which was a skinny-dip threeway kiss (which he IMMEDIATELY regretted)

Not breaking things off with Grace as soon as he should've after Casa (in my opinion), which I think should've been that first morning when all the OGs woke up together in the villa again, at the latest

And, on the topic of the Casa drama.. one moment I really like is, even if MC chooses to "play dumb," when piecing together what likely happened.. Ozzy couldn't keep her in the dark for too long even when he first considered it, which to me is so cute 🥺💗

@operationnope brought up some very good points when I asked her opinion on the situation. Being reminded of a very core part of Ozzy's character amidst the hurt was just what I needed 🥴 even if he fumbles along the way, he still wants to do right by all of the involved parties, and that includes Grace.

And, that leads me to what my final research run was all about.. seeing what his route is like when you friendzone him instead, before Casa. And, holy hell. I thought it would've been easy enough, but that came with its own unique set of challenges.

@ariendiel I remember at one point just thinking, "this is probably the closest to the Noah route experience I'll ever feel," and I know y'all Noah stans had it even tougher because there was no way to even couple up with Noah at all, outside of the disaster recoupling 😭 y'all don't get enough credit for REAL 🥺💙

It was a very isolating path, where even Ozzy flips back and forth between acknowledging MC's interest in him after all, with her actions, to "I'm friendzoned" mode. Everyone else, including Grace, just brushes off everything MC does, with the clear exception of the final recoupling.

And that all applies even after I told Grace that it could become a thing still, him and MC together 💀

On the one hand, yes I can sympathize with Ozzy's position in this scenario. But also it's like, Ozzy.. read the room! 😭🥺

...from what I can tell from this difference of his dialog after the final recoupling.. he was reading the room, and was just trying to play it very cool with MC.

So, what is the overarching theme with Ozzy no matter how you approach his route? *checks the melted inked note on my arm* ..something about not knowing how to handle being in love for the first time, with the very real possibility of (total) rejection.

And, this song sums up his route to a T 🥺 and y'know what, maybe I did feel myself fall for him all over again as I was listening to it, on this last run 😭

Indeed one of my most interesting takes of our loveable crew, here is mailbox himself- Eddie Tink! Standing as a moderate 5'8, by far, I took many liberties with my metal man and of course his last name is a nod to being made of metal. In Doghouse, Eddie is still our loveable mailman to our neighbors but at the same time he also has zany robot guy features to teach toddlers that technology is cool. Similar to that robot guy in Yo Gabba Gabba, but a mailman. I also made Eddie a bit older, possibly in his early forties or so to round out the age groups of our neighbors we have in Doghouse and make him a more humble older guy. Even so, he's still his clumsy, helpful and southern guy who's most likely can life two elephants if tested. He's made out of metal, after all.

In his design, I really wanted to change him in a drastic way- not just making him an animal like Julie or Wally, but rather into something that would make sense for his character and give even more charm to him, which lead me to making him into a mailbox. I know, crazy. And I know what you're thinking, he can eat letters and they can go into the storage compartment- because yes. Speaking of, he has two large compartments, one being in his chest to open him up and repair his engine to keep him running and the second being his storage compartment to hold packages. Roughly, his max capacity is holding a whole Julie and Wally combined. Yes, they have tested this and yes Eddie let them. Regardless, Eddie doesn't know who made him at all, but does know that he's made of the same metal as his office and has been sentient for over thirty years before joining the neighborhood. He can't remember the first ten years.

He's extremely close with Frank and Poppy, with Frank being thankful for the robot's services and maybe possibly finding him really nice to be with, since Eddie is a simple guy who wants to be helpful. He's down bad for the humble metal man, truly and Eddie is oblivious to this. Poppy, however, is the only person who can repair Eddie if his clumsy self gets damaged or overworks his system too much- she'll be right over, fix him up and sternly set him straight. She cares for him, in a mother son type way- since Poppy, fun fact, is the second eldest in the neighbor. Howdy beats her to it, being a ghost and haunting for many years. Eddie is the third eldest.

Julie and Sally also like to hang out with Eddie, Julie usually pulling him into their games and using his metal self in some way to enhance her little shenanigans. Like using his compartment as a spaceship, or using Eddie as a car- and even as a suitcase one time. He finds it endearing and enjoys it, even if it tires him out afterwards. With Sally, however, since she usually sometimes passes out during the day- Eddie makes sure she gets home safely by either picking her up or carrying her around in the storage compartment, if it's clear. Overtime, he's become like a father figure to our sleepy gal and is very protective of her. He's a big teddy-bear, just not very bright- even if he is a robot. With our spaniel, however, he has a tricky relationship with him.

Wally loves to chase him down the block if he sees him on the job, and tries to get him to fall over to take his hat. Eddie doesn't know why or how, but Wally thinks of it as a little game which totally doesn't short circuit our metal man at all. Totally. But he finds Wally to be nice company, and usually gives him the best scratches. Besides Barnaby, of course. He talked with Barnaby sometimes too, but they're not too close since Eddie also gets pranked by him a ton with Frank and Poppy. Him and Howdy are the same thing, but they do like talking about their lives before the neighborhood with each other at times.

Two more facts before I leave y'all, Eddie likes to get polished and thinks of it as pampering which Frank is an expert at. It's one of their bonding activities, and got them to talk more when our butterfly found him all dirty and dull one time. It's common to find them doing so, and usually at Frank's house. It's adorable. My last fact is about his 'sleep' mode. When Eddie gets ready for the night, he powers down and practically cannot wake up until the sun comes up- since he needs to charge for the day. However, recently, he's been finding himself wake up near DogHouse for random reasons and figures it's usually a bug or something in his system.

Anyhow, there's a ton about my Eddie Tink and I hope y'all enjoy my mailbox guy! A bit of lore, a bit of some cutesy stuff- but y e a h. A lot. Next will be my Poppy, so stay tuned!

Bucky x Tony @involuntaryspy​ / send me a ship and-

Who asks the other on dates:  okay, it's time i was real with y'all.  tony didn't even know they were dates until date #3.  he didn't.  he had no idea.  he thought they were just hanging out.  i mean clearly that got cleared up and bucky learned a valuable lesson in how you need to be absolutely clear with tony and not let his brain fill in the blanks (i mean to him it was logical they were just hanging out), but.  it's true.  (i think it has to do with the fact that tony doesn't see cues if he's not the one doing the pursuing - i don't think a lot of people have pursued him like that in seriousness.)  anyway, they go on dates, though it's mostly bucky that has taken over their social dance card, tbh.  when tony's in new york it's usually for work or avenger things, so there's not a lot of fun to be had and besides, bucky's back in indiana usually, though if he's in new york they do things.  but bucky's the one with the connections when tony's home so it just ends up that tony comes home and finds out he's doing a thing.  it works for them.

Who is the bigger cuddler:  tony is absolutely the cuddle fiend in this relationship.  if they're both home in the same room, you can believe some part of tony is draped over some part of bucky at all times. you would think tony wouldn't be so intent on that kind of thing but considering his past history, especially all that time in the chestplate, being touchy with his person is a big deal.  he even does it while he's asleep, he latches on and has to be untangled from to get out of bed (sorry, bucky).  he likes being Close.  

Who initiates holding hands more often:  bucky might initiate it more often, but tony never hesitates, not even once.  he's schmoopy like that.  and like, yeah, he makes sure he's on the side that bucky's comfortable with, because he gets it, but also consider:  he likes to make it exceedingly clear that he's not worried about bucky's metal arm.  i mean, it's already been said, but he built it.  he loves and trusts bucky.  there's nothing in that that he remotely thinks is something to be wary of.  and you can be sure when he does cute shit like kissing the palm of bucky's flesh and blood hand he does it to the metal one, too.  it's not about being able to feel it, it's about normalizing it, associating it with daily life, as a help aid and a prosthesis instead of a weapon, as a part of bucky himself, like he's done with the upgrades he gave it to make it make daily life easier.  making sure bucky knows he loves all of him.

Who remembers anniversaries:  people need to literally let tony live!!!  he might not be able to tell anyone when they started dating, because, again, he didn't even know those were dates, but he does remember things like birthdays (just...not his own, usually).  and the stuff he can't remember, he has friday for, and since she and bucky are apparently so buddy buddy she's not likely to let tony get himself put in the doghouse by letting him forget.  he tries, though.  he just only has so much ram and processing speed and there are a lot of programs running in the background.

Who is more possessive:  that's not a thing with them.  tony doesn't really have much of a possessive streak in that way, for the most part i'd argue that he's emotionally too submissive in a lot of respects (especially in romantic relationships) and skittish because of bad experiences.  he doesn't try to keep bucky all to himself, it's why he's doing this double household thing to begin with, you know, and why he's setting up camp in another city that's becoming a tech forerunner (so he can have his office closer to home and actually be home).  he'd rather it be that they're actually living together full time, but he knows bucky loves being in indiana and loves his house and wouldn't try to take it from him for the world.  wouldn't ask him to change things, he'll change things as much as he can (i mean he still has to be in new york for weekly meetings but iron man kinda negates flight time there), but otherwise he's nested so hard himself it's sad.

Who gets more jealous:  i mean it's a fact tony has a jealous streak.  but it's not...it doesn't come out that way.  he withdraws, pulls back, instead of clinging tighter, because of the way tony's brain works and likes to lie to him (it's the depression and anxiety).  but he's forever grateful that bucky will absolutely save him from situations he'd have a hard time extracting him from with them both knowing it definitely looks like jealousy, because it's not.  bucky's teaching tony how to say no when he'd have reluctantly said yes and not wanted to and how to start learning and putting up his own boundaries.

Who is more protective:  tony can be ridiculously overprotective, if you want me to be honest.  it's because he worries.  he's redesigned bucky's gear at least twenty times and then never says anything because he doesn't want it to be taken as an insult, he just wants to keep bucky safe.  and he knows bucky won't take it the wrong way but...it's tony, it's how he is.  he doesn't want to be as overbearing as he's been accused of in the past.  but bucky's team normal and tony has a vested interest in making sure he stays unsquished.  i can also say that he's literally never made the connection between bucky running interference and it being a protective thing, at least not consciously.  subconsciously he's starting to put those boundaries in place when he just can't - though not enough to give him some breathing room yet - so if nothing else it's actually doing some good.  baby steps.

Who is more likely to cheat:  tony stark is no cheater.  it would literally never occur to him to even consider it, like...ever.  this is a guy that wasn't even sure if his girlfriend was still his girlfriend (she was ghosting) and he still turned down other people because as far as he was concerned, with no clear answer, he was still in a relationship.  tony stark is loyal.  fullstop.  tony stark married?  ten times as much.  he's someone's Person, bucky picked him, and that's it, that's all, bucky's stuck with him now forever, because tony is in reputation a playboy, in reality a mate for lifer.  and despite the fact that he's had such horrible relationship experiences - including being cheated on - he's literally never given it a thought whether bucky would, because his faith in the people he loves is unshakable.

Who initiates sexy times the most:  they're idiots, okay, i don't know what to say other than that.  it's a game, it's all a game to them, and they're both horrible little shits who get it in their heads they must have the upper hand and then nobody gets laid because they can't use their words.  it's amazing they ever actually have sex at all considering how big of idiots they are with this.

Who dislikes PDA the most:  there's pda, and then there's excessive slobbery pda.  like, they're married, they're allowed to hold hands and have the occasional cute smooch in public, they're allowed to casually touch each other but let's be honest, they're both entirely too grown to be slobbery and gross.

Who kills the spider:  the only member of this household that kills spiders is probably alpine.  you kinda feel bad about it when you know so many spider hyphen people.

Who asks the the other to marry them:  bucky, it was bucky.  and it's so funny, you know, because honestly before bucky did, tony was thinking about it and telling himself not now because it was too soon, way too soon.  like it was honest struggle, it's really kind of sad.  and funny.  like i'm still laughing at the entire thing, because tony never had a clue, never suspected a thing, never guessed, like bucky needs to put a feather in his cap about that because it's hard to keep things from tony, his thing is as much information as it is engineering and innovation, so the fact that tony showed up to his own wedding not knowing it was a wedding was.  chef kiss.  

Who buys the other flowers or gifts:  tony, we all know it's tony, because he doesn't know how to not.  he honestly wouldn't know what to do if he couldn't like.  overdo this.  and he does overdo it.  buying out a flower shop for two weeks straight?  done.  reserving an entire restaurant for a night so it's just the two of them?  double done.  paying attention to little details and wants and likes and then turning that up to eleven?  you remember the chocolate thing, you remember.  but like...for tony it's not a big deal?  he's not good with Talking About Feelings and it's easier and more comfortable for him to express things in other ways, and he has the money to do it. and if it was just spending money because he can that would be one thing but it's very specific, very pointed, he uses all those little details he pays attention to in order to do it.  and to be honest, bucky will never stop him.  he will continue to be That Way because it's what he knows and it's part of his love language, so...it's nice that it's appreciated in the spirit it's meant rather than what it has been in the past with other people, i don't think tony's ever otherwise been in a real relationship where it was a nice surprise when he does stuff like that instead of expected because he's tony stark.  

Who would bring up possibly having kids: kids aren't really a thing that's part of the bucky and tony show, and honestly, in this case i don't think...tony feels that loss as acutely as i'd have expected?  it's not a thing he thinks about much at all, to be honest.  their lives are utterly insane outside of their happy little bubble, the work will literally never be done, and they have a good life, you know.  they both have enough going on, with themselves, with the world, it's better not to add that unpredictable and vulnerable element into the equation.  and they have al.  tony's never had a pet, not really, so this is new and novel and he can direct those feelings to her and he's satiated.  he's happy.  he loves that cat so damn much, it's ridiculous, even if she's a complete and utter traitor and a bed thief.

Who is more nervous to meet the parents:  it might have been bucky but honestly i don't know that he had anything to worry about.  or maybe he did, amanda is feisty and isn't afraid to like.  take somebody out with a guitar, i love her sm.  plus she is...awesomely protective of tony and his feelings now that they've connected so of course she's gonna give bucky a shovel talk but...anyway, overall it's all very strange to tony and he has no idea what to make of any of it because he doesn't have much of a frame of reference there, so he considers bucky and amanda things to be bucky and amanda things and stays out of it, for the most part.  they seem to have made up their minds about each other and no one's getting beaned with instruments, so he'll take it as a win.

Who sleeps on the couch when the other is angry:  they don't fight.  it's weird.  they actually talk things out like adults and reach an understanding.  crazy, right?  it's like they understand they won't agree 100% on everything and have figured out a way around that.  amazing.  besides, sleeping on the couch is for the naps tony won't admit to and claim he does not take that he actually really does take.  why would he do that when he can fight the cat for dominance and sleep with bucky?  he wouldn't, that's what.

Who tries to make up first after arguments:  tony likes to have a good sulk and pout session first, to be honest.  so it's entirely reasonable that bucky would because honestly in most of tony's interpersonal relationships he's not going to open the floor to talking about his own feelings.  he's going to keep those where he thinks they belong, which is with him, but bucky will push for it which is actually a good thing.  instead of letting tony stew in whatever it is, it gets addressed.  he's safe to Have An Emotion and then Express He Has That Emotion without feeling like he's being ridiculed.  

Who tells the other they love them more often:  you know that post.  the one about "where's husband" "here's husband! here i am!"  that's it, y'all.  that's them.  that's them in a nutshell.  they're unbearably gross, it's awful, i love them.  tony takes a while to get over that hurdle, you know, admitting it out loud because he's got his issues.  but once he's past that he has no issue using it at every given opportunity.  part of it is the superhero lifestyle is unstable and once it's out there he wants to make sure he reiterates it while he can.  part of it is it becomes this ridiculous little talisman for him, that he has to say it.  part of it is because tony stark is a romantic at heart and needs bucky to know at all times that he loves him, does bucky know he loves him, because he loves him.  it's gross, it's disgusting, someone please make them stop.

a slim smile - one that could only be considered an UNDERSTANDING expression - touches against his lips. he has a feeling that it would take a large amount of time for TRUE trust to form, but in the interim, he's SATISFIED with these similarities front and center. ❝i hope that when i get back - i'll REMEMBER that. how it ain't fair on ya soldiers.❞ and in silence, he is IMMENSELY thankful towards cloud, for literally opening his mind.

and if it weren't for this HORRID island, he may not have been given this particular foresight. but still, for all the friends he's making and the knowledge he's GLEAMED, the roots of self doubt would not be ELIMINATED so easily. a handle settles against the underside of his chin. ❝no kidding,❞ he says, SIMPLICITY in every syllable. ❝sometimes i get worried about growin' attached, especially since ma always taught me to be polite, ya know? this island ain't nothin' to SCOFF at, in both its citizens and layout. there's somethin' to learn, but what if it comes at the cost of VIGILANCE?❞

to think that he only just barely TRUSTED cloud, hiding behind a stone faced expression and brash demeanor, but tifa, it turns out, was right about him in the end. he thinks about their midnight meeting, that sense of UNDERSTANDING where cloud knew just who he’s fighting for. a DISTANT smile touches upon his lips, like a ghost, here and gone.

she guides us to bliss, her gift EVERLASTING. he mouths those words, moved naturally. even though there’s more to his fight than gaia’s protection, it still RESONATES within. revenge may be sweet, but protecting her? protecting marlene’s future? that too is sweet, and one day it will sink in how much sweeter it is.

❝if only … i mean, i'n sure of it, but he’s there back in midgar, and we’re here. as FIRED up as i am, s'long as i’m in radiale, feels like i’m a dog chasing its own tail. all TIRED out before i can even fight the fight.❞

||  █ ▌— genesis cares for the planet, in his way. through his goddess, but also through what she embodied. he had to prioritize himself above all else, though. a terminal cellular degeneration did that, after all, didn’t it? selfishness, yes, but more than that: the need to live. what use did he have for a planet he was just going to die on anyway.

he is therefore glad he is no longer dying. he can consider the goddess, her planet, life in general… his own and that of others. he can allow himself to care what happens to others again–heroism, whatever that may be. there are many ways to interpret that concept, genesis has himself chewed over it, tossing the idea back and forth in his mind until he tired of it.

or… mostly tired of it. the definition he’d settled on was something less like himself, lately. less like sephiroth. it took a different shape, one he didn’t really know how to picture.

it wasn’t easy to make sense of such concepts after what he suffered at the hands of shinra and scientists and SOLDIERs.

❝ i’m glad he’s all right now. so long as he has others around him… that should stay that way. what SOLDIERs go through, well, it can leave one feeling very isolated. shinra tended to make us feel very… grandiose and irreplaceable, or very expendable, depending on how they wished to manipulate us. ❞

Amazon had the supplies and abilities to get supplies. Its a warehouse that mails supplies.

A ship out to sea has no resources except what is on board. I don't know their stability. Had they been out for years? Days? Months? Were they low on supplies?

When people die in Amazon (just an example because don't go to work sick. You're not taking that money with you) we can call 911 and have it removed within the hour.

In a ship off out in the middle of no where -- you can call the Coast Guard who can be days by ship. They can fly but still can be 16 hours away.

The Staten Island Ferry Is the Orange boat you often see in movies pass by the Statue of Liberty And it docks in lower Manhattan which is the most famous of Boroughs, especially movie wise. Thus people use public transportation. City buses that are not sanitized that i ever seen. Subways same. Taxi that probably are not either.
