Hi loves! How are we feeling about the Seattle series? Anything you wanna see? More drama? Less drama? Fewer cliches? A rain-soaked love confession? I’m at your mercy 🫶

To Right the Wrongs of Many
Tumblr media
That baby does not appreciate his position right now.
My thoughts on the final episode are below.  I’m not crying, you are.
What I loved:
The flashbacks to Kira’s birth.  It wasn’t immediately clear that it was Sarah’s pregnancy with Kira that was under discussion in the first flashback, since we know Sarah’s had an abortion.  Switching back and forth between her birth of Kira and Helena’s birth of the twins was wonderful and perfect in every way.
The parallels to the Dream!Babyshower at the start of season 3.
Helena got to kill Coady, fucking finally.  She even got her old SKREE-skraw music!  I also loved Arthur’s role in Coady’s death, getting her close enough for Helena to stab her.
Sarah smashing “PT”’s head in with an oxygen tank.
Donnie’s new job involves pouring concrete floors.  Well, he certainly has some experience with that, doesn’t he.
Cosima’s dress.  Goddamn.
Delphine holding a baby, and I think she was speaking to him in French.
The sestras going around and assuring Sarah that they aren’t (or wouldn’t be) perfect mothers, either.
“Every time I look, the baby’s eating sand.  I turn around, sand.  Where does this sand come from?  I don’t know, so I let them eat it.”
Personal note: One of my grandmother’s earliest memories is sitting in her parents’ yard, eating dirt with a spoon.  She’ll be 88 this fall.  I think these babies will be just fine.
This whole damn series, from the first episode to the last.  I can’t believe I just started watching this in June, as a way to kill time between my morning and evening classes.  I fell in love quick, y’all.
What I liked:
Coady and “PT” died in the first 20 minutes.  I was hoping it would happen in the first 5, but I was afraid it would take all episode, and it didn’t.
“This is Yusef, my Uber driver.”
Rachel seemed to have some choice in not being at the party and not associating with her sisters.  I say “seemed to” because it could have been a defense mechanism after Felix told her she couldn’t come in.
Camilla Torres hitting on Delphine.
Delphine speaking Spanish.
“We’re not black!”
It’s summer, finally.  I know it wasn’t when they filmed it, but we at least got to see everyone in warmer weather clothing for once.
Of course Cosima gave the babies something sciencey.
Cosima doesn’t crave babies.  We’ve seen that she’s wonderful with older children, but it’s such a great change of pace to see a lesbian who doesn’t want babies.  Also, I know I’m an exception in fandom here, but I’m totally okay with her and Delphine not getting engaged/ married, and I think it’s good that they didn’t adopt Charlotte, since they’re traveling all over the world curing Ledas.  Cosima and Delphine are committed to each other, and that’s all I needed to see.
What I didn’t care for:
The whole 16 minutes or so before Coady and “PT” die are too obvious and easy, plot and character-wise.
“PT” and Coady are cartoonishly evil.
There was no surprise in Coady or “PT”’s death, except in the methods.
Sarah should have at least moved Helena to a less open spot on the floor before leaving.  It was so, so obvious that Coady would find her and threaten her.
There was no transition between Helena’s delivery and a few months later.  It’s not terrible, it just seems strange that some of the conversations and moments at the party are presented like they’re happening for the first time, months and months after the birth and Siobhan’s death.  Like, really, they want us to think this was the first time Delphine got the chance to talk to Sarah about Siobhan?  Or the first time Cosima’s held one of the babies?  Come on.
Sarah ducking out of her GED test at the last minute seemed more like Season 1 Sarah.  I’m okay with her having angst about her life, especially regarding Kira, but this seemed weak to me, especially since she said, “I just need to get a job” on her way towards the classroom.
I did love everyone coming into the kitchen and asking “How was the test?” though.
Why couldn’t Rachel come to the party, again?  That was weird.  The main sisters didn’t seem to even know that Rachel was there; who knows, maybe they wanted her to be there with them.  Or not.  The point is, we never get to find out how they feel about her now.
Someone thought we needed to see Donnie in his underwear again.  I sure didn’t.
I still don’t buy Alison as a piano player.  She majored in kinesiology in college, as she’s mentioned time and time again, so I would have preferred to see her pursue that, or maybe theater.  Something that, you know, follows the character we’ve gotten to know over the past several seasons.
My biggest complaint is that we needed more time.  And really, is it a complaint to say we love it so much we want more of it?
Other notes:
I was totally convinced the twins would be girls.  I was wrong.
When Alison said, “God, I was a drug dealer, for Pete’s sake,” I wanted Sarah to say, “Yeah, so was I.”  She started off the series trying to sell cocaine, didn’t she?
I’ve never given birth, but Helena’s position here seems a lot more conducive to birthing than laying flat on one’s back with the pelvis at the same level as the shoulders.  Let gravity help.

I couldn’t decide which picture to use for this review.  I very nearly used this one, because everyone needs more pictures of Tatiana’s arms:

I also wanted to use this one because Adele looks fabulous:

Or this one, because it’s the best shot I got of Cosima’s dress:

Or this one because it’s got all the sestras together:

I’m thinking about going through and doing reviews of all episodes, starting with season 1, even though I’ve seen them all a couple times.  Anyone interested in reading them?
