Anyways. Let's talk about it since you brought it up AGAIN. First things first, I will apologize (and I have apologized) for snapping at them in public. That wasn't okay of me, and there was so much more as to why I had responded that way. It wasn't a good day for me and they pushed me over the edge. Was that okay of me to do though? Absolutely not. I should have taken that conversation to a private dm so that we could've settled it between us there. Funny thing is that we didn't say anything to each other after that besides the one message I sent. So, how exactly was this all my fault?

I opened up about how I was uncomfortable in a situation. I said my boundaries and what I wanted so that Vamp Dami could respect them, because, once again, they had not done that before in the past. There's more to the story, obviously, but we've settled things between us and it wouldn't be fair of me to continue talking about them in public without their knowledge. That's insanely insensitive on my end and I'm not going to do that. I'm repeating information I stated in my past message and that's all.

I am not at fault for having others come forward about their uncomfortableness. Yes, I may have been one of the first ones, but I did not actively push for others to do the same if they had been in the same situation. People control their own feelings about this situation. I do NOT dictate how others should feel about someone and I'm not willing for that to be spread about me.

Starting a RP blog 101

1. Setting it up

So, you want to make an RP blog... Well, you've come to the right place!

To start off, you need to decide between opening up a side blog or making an entirely new account! If you make a side blog, you have complete and quick access to both your main account and other side blogs with a click of your finger, but you won't be able to send asks or like posts from your RP account. Instead, you would like things with your main account and send anon asks with a sign-off ( i.e. - @respect-the-hyphen ). As for a different account, you get access to both of those things, but it would take longer for you to switch between your main and RP. Personally, I made a side blog since I run many, many blogs and would like to quickly sift between all of them. This is entirely up to you, though!

Now, let's talk about setting the stage for your RP escapades. Your username should reflect the essence of your character or the theme of your RP universe. I personally chose respect-the-hyphen because I adore how pressed comic Peter gets over this. Your title should also reflect your blog, and you description can be anything from literally nothing to a long introduction. Your profile picture and banner should be eye-catching and give visitors a taste of what to expect from your RP. Think of them as the opening credits to your RP story.

As for your inquiry about choosing someone not taken, don't worry about that. No one cares if you become someone already taken; there's always room for interpretation and creativity. Just be yourself and have fun exploring the character's personality!

2. Getting out there

When you're ready to dive into RPing, consider creating an introduction post. This can include a brief bio of your character, their motivations, and what kind of interactions you're looking for. It's a great way to signal to other RPers that you're open for business! This is your chance to showcase your creativity and set the stage for epic storytelling.

After that, start interacting with other RPers by liking, reblogging, and commenting on their posts. Plus, make sure to add a few posts of your own into your arsenal. I set up a queue to post twice a day at prime time. When you start getting asks, I recommend answering a few every day or so and sticking them into queue so you have content for a while if you get busy. Queues are very, very useful

I promise it'll go alright. There are no rules for RPing. Just be creative and be you. Headcanons, original characters, and more are all welcome.

Remember, RPing is all about collaboration and storytelling. Have fun exploring your character's personality, engaging in interactions with other characters, and building memorable storylines. And most importantly, don't be afraid to be yourself and let your creativity shine!

this is gonna sound crazy but i wanna get better at smut writing but also... i feel so shy whenever i do a smut thread with someone fdsfdsjn 😭😭

this has to be one of the most common things i hear tbh !! i totally understand the uncomfortableness and slight cringe with it . there’s a few things that help me that might ?? help you ?? but also , please know this happens to EVERYONE including me , the self proclaimed queen of smut

read smut or fan fiction or whatever , this will majorly help you with language if you’re unsure of what to say and when

talk to your partner , upfront, about the uncomfortable stuff first ie what kinks does your character like ? what don’t they like ? what’s their safe word ? etc etc . just like how you’d communicate with someone irl about sex !

write on discord or on a different platform first . this can make it a bit less intimidating and scary bc it’s just you and your writing partner and you can giggle and gossip as much as you want

maintain a strong , communicative relationship with your writing partner . talk about smut headcanons ! send each other thirst trap images , aus , prompts etc etc - it’s just like plotting anything else i promise !

understand why you’re uncomfortable : what are you worried about specifically ? investigate it within yourself so you can understand how to communicate it to others . for me , i had to put in an age limit for people i’m comfortable rping with and specifically rping smut with .

lean into the awkwardness. some of my BEST FRIENDS and i have been writing together for literally years , so sometimes i still see them as that 21 year old i met even tho they’re like 26 now ! hahaha . and sometimes when we write 1x1 or whatever and it turns smutty , i feel soooo awkward bc im like .. but ive known you forever ! it’s like suddenly kissing your platonic bestie . it can feel weird and awkward , and sometimes it just doesn’t match , so don’t force it

some people aren’t “””smut”””” compatible . that’s ok . sometimes you might write with someone and be like . ok this is not my vibe . it’s ok to say “sorry i actually don’t have muse anymore / don’t think i can continue our plot . it’s not your fault at all, i just think i don’t have muse and capacity !” - people appreciate honesty

writing smut with someone can be akin to dating someone (stick with me for a second). what i mean by this is … it’s easy to go on a date with a stranger (sometimes) right ? you don’t know them , they don’t know you. you can be anyone you want , say anything you want , no skin in the game . but say … what if your best friend suddenly asked you out on a date ? that’s a little scary right , because what if things don’t work out and it ruins the friendship ? writing smut is kinda like that. sometimes it’s easier to do it with a complete stranger first (a safe adult who you can then befriend btw not just some rando lmao- stay safe!! internet scary). then you can warm into trying to write it with your friends or learn what personalities etc match yours for smut and how you like writing it , talking about it etc etc .

know your own hard boundaries and know that people aren’t mind readers ( ie if someone uses language you don’t like , it’s ok to say that ! say “hey can we use xx word instead ?” or “hey i don’t have muse for this thread , can we drop and try something new ?”)

laugh about it , talk about it , etc etc . talking about it gives it less power of you or whatever , right ? everytime i write a smut reply , i message the mun something silly or a meme . or my partner will send me something about my reply . it takes alllll the tension / stress / “did i take this too far???” out of it !

what made you pick up the current muse(s) you have? that's a difficult one to answer, purely because of the amount of muses i have lmao. most of them are simply because i like them as characters, some are because i want to take them and put them into different situations and even alternate universes, which can be seen with my alt history muses.

is there anything you don’t like to write? i'm not a fan of heart breaking and earth shattering angst and first meetings aren't really my thing unless we have a relationship between two muses and we go back to them meeting for the first time.

CHANGES FOR YEAR TWO!

After talking things over with Lindsey and evaluating where we are with the group, our writers, and the characters that we have, we've decided to adapt and make some changes to best suit the kind of community that we have been and would like to continue building.

MUN CAP.

the first change is that we have lowered our mun cap from 25 to 20; for now. admins will not count towards this! the reason for the change is that we like having a smaller group, and although we still think we have room to grow, we don't want to grow to the point where we feel people aren't able to plot and interact with everyone. at points where we have been that high, it was a major stressor, and we like the laidback vibes we have here.

CHARACTER CAP.

the second change is our character cap. we are going to allow players to play up to 10 characters using our standard diversity rules. (5/10 muse be diverse, and 2/5 must be black or indigenous.) we will consider allowing people to play more than 10 if their activity is exemplary (all replies kept up to date within a week or so, replying to new starters with priority, not ending up on warnings/checks), but these characters would have to be: 50+ in age, gender diverse, body diverse and/or disabled, no exceptions, and must either fill a wanted connection or have a plot in mind we can verify with someone else. Any role above ten is subject to be asked to pause or drop if we as admins feel your activity becomes inconsistent or unfair at any point, however.

and lastly, we have really enjoyed getting your feedback through polls, or just talking in the OOC blog. we're going to try to get the Benefactor more involved by asking questions that will require answers again, posting polls, getting your help with planning some events/activities around town, or even just finding ways to improve our town. we want Merrock to be yours as much as it is ours, and a real community in character and out.

The reason for these changes is pretty simple! We really, really like where Merrock is at right now as far as vibes go. The small town, small group feeling, and the fact that so many of you seem very comfortable here. We'd rather offer you a home long term where you can play a large variety of characters than feel limited, and these changes allow us to expand in a way that doesn't take away from diversity or hurt the overall activity of the group, as we will still be very careful about approving new roles based on that! Maybe even more so. But we'd love to encourage people to play more characters (if they have the bandwidth) to expand their plotting abilities and help them branch out and make new connections. That, and who doesn't miss the Benefactor being around a bit more?

I didn't push anyone to come forward about their own experiences. If people are uncomfortable, they are uncomfortable for a reason. That isn't my fault. I never pushed anyone to do anything.

Ask anyone. I didn't push for anyone to go and "fight for me". That's starting to seem like a common misconception with these messages I'm getting lol. If you're talking about @/thebetterrobin, then I don't know what to tell you. We had talked before privately in a server. They had expressed they felt the same discomforts. Never did I once tell them to reblog one of Vamp Dami's blogs to "fight for me". They did that because they wanted to have their own voice heard. Don't blame me for that.

If you can't tell, I usually respond to every single hate message or inbox I get because I'm able to fight my own battles. I tend to ignore most of these, but these certain ones are honestly kinda pissing me off especially with the way you're misunderstanding me as a person. I'm going to let my voice be heard and I have always made that clear to everyone on this blog. If I have something I want to say, I will say it. I am 15+ hours ahead of most of you timewise, so if I don’t reply then please know it’s at least in my drafts ready to go for the next time.  

I am a fairly chill writer, so whilst I’m not going to be upset if you godmode Dean, I will be upset if plots aren’t communicated or at least talked about once. I do however have the right to block anything I feel uncomfortable with.

I play characters to the best of my ability, I make mistakes, but I will always try and communicate.

Some of my characters I write including this Dean Winchester are canonically, bisexual & polyamarous, please respect that.

Our muses won’t always gel and that’s ok, sometimes RP is just about readjusting, again that’s when communication comes in.

In terms of smut, I write it with writers I get along with, and again that’s communication based. If there’s no reply do not spam me, that’s really annoying when I’m sleeping.

Lastly thank you to those that when my account was lost helped me out, and hope to see you on the RP waves.
