Legend of the White Snake - Episode 36 Final Episode

I don’t know if I will survive this.

Xiao Qing meets with her father and he thinks she’s Furong (Xiao Qing’s mother). He hugs her and promises to never leave her again. But Xiao Qing pushes him away and tells him he has no right to call her mother’s name. There’s no time for this Xiao Qing. You have to save Suzhen. He then tells her she has no place in this palace. She promises this is the last time she ever comes to see and steal the artefact.

Okay I am so stressed out that I have to pause the episode every thirty seconds. I am so afraid that something bad will happen. I need a happy ending. I don’t care if it’s not satisfactory. I just want a happy ending.

Seeing Suzhen having so much trouble fighting Fahai... no... Xu Xian... I hope he doesn’t lose it to the demon.

THANK GOD XIAO QING CAME. But... what? It’s not helping at all. That thing she brought is just going to flood everything. That’s of no use...

Fahai tells Suzhen that Xu Xian became one with the inner demon and that this is choice, why won’t she respect his choice. Fahai begs her, she can even kill her after if she wants,  but That’s Xu Xian’s choice.

Omg. Suzhen, don’t you think about Jiaorong and Gongfu? Do you want them to die too?

the immortals come to punish the demons and Xu Xian, to protect Suzhen says it’s him. He’s the one causing trouble. No. I can’t. This is torture. He gets struck by lightning. Suzhen rushes to him, she also gets struck by lightning and she begs for forgiveness, hadn’t she fallen in love with him and tried to be with him, he wouldn’t be hurt like this. But he says his biggest happiness in this life was  to meet her.

Okay... so it looks like they are both going to die together, which would be really sad, but at least an ending in which they would be together and I would like that. However, just then, she’s about to give birth. Wow. That’s a little early. Anyways, seeing that the baby is an immortal going down for a mortal trial, the other immortals leave. And it seems that because he was struck by lightning, Xu xian’s okay? Well, all of this is weird.

Then Xiao Qing’s father come and wants to punish Suzhen. But Xiao Qing is like, no! If you want to kill somebody, kill me instead. She cuts her wrist. Suzhen rushes. And Then. Wow. Guanyin herself comes again. She pushes the water away with spraying little bubbles. Suzhen acknowledges her wrongdoings and is willing to pay with her life. But then, Xu  Xian won’t, he says he’ll take the punishment for her, in this life and in the next too.

Wow. It ends being Xiao Qing’s dad asking for punishment seeing the love between Suzhen and Xu Xian. What the hell? how weird is this? Can we know if Xu Xian and Suzhen can stay together? I don’t really about the rest. I need that stress off my chest and there’s like... 26 minutes left to the episode. I can’t stand it for that long.

Okay, so Suzhen is sent to read the rites inside Leifeng pagoda and she won’t be able to go out. Xu Xian runs after her but he can’t be with her.

Xiao Qing’s dad wants to take her back with him. Xiao Qing though blames herself that Suzhen and Xu Xian are forced to be apart. She promised to go cultivate with Guanyin until the Leifeng pagoda falls down. Then, she will come back.

I am so heart broken. Honestly. They never truly got to be together. And now Xu Xian is leaving his baby behind in Jiaorong’s care. I mean, I understand he’s all sad and all, but shouldn’t he at least take care of the baby? That’s what Suzhen would want...

Anyways, years goes by and Shilin is a really filial son. On his birthday, his cousin Bilian comes to send him some noodles, but he only thinks of his mother being alone.

Wow. Suzhen and Xu Xian’s son. As he hears that Suzhen is stuck in Leifeng Pagoda until the tower falls down and the West Lake dries up, he decides to go destroy the tower and empty the West Lake by himself. Such a filial son. When Jiaorong tries to stop him, he says that’s like the story of Yu Gong who wanted to move a mountain and even if it seemed impossible at first, he succeeded.  For those who don’t know, it’s a Chinese idiom which means that when there’s a will,  there’s a way. People were thinking that Yu Gong was stupid for trying to move the mountain, but he did it anyways. Bilian offers to help and then many town’s people also decide to give him a hand because they remember how Suzhen and Xu Xian helped them so much.

Wow. So Bilian and Shilin are in love? They are cousin... I am a little uncomfortable with that... Anyways, Shilin studies to pass the imperial exams. And he manages to. He holds the ceremony near the West Lake and asks for his mother to come out. Then a dragon comes out and sucks the water of the lake. It’s Xiao Qing. The tower slowly falls down. Suzhen finally comes out.

And when Xu Xian comes back, she’s right there waiting for him at the pier. And they hold hands. And the end.

This is... Well, the ending seems a little bit rushed, but I am happy with it knowing that they can  resume their life together. Thanks to their son. I just wish they had a little more happy moments together.

And I must say... the last episodes were just so stressful for me. It tired me out so much. I am going to miss this drama, I really liked Xu Xian and Xiao Qing, but I am glad I am done with it. Too much stress for me TT Too much heartbreak too. People get close to dying way too often. I am glad I spent the time though to watch this! Thanks for reading!

Legend of the White Snake - Episode 26

So  Xiao Qing confesses to Suzhen that she wants to be with Yutang the same way she is with Xu Xian. Suzhen looks a little a worried and reminds him that he’s just a normal human. Since Suzhen is married with a human too, Xiao Qing wants to learn from her.

Xu Xian sees that Suzhen is still worrying and tries to make her at ease by telling her how much Yutang is a nice guy and having him taking care of Xiao Qing would be nice, because he won’t make her unhappy and take good care of her. But she’s not worried about that, she’s more worried about life and death matters. Suzhen tells that as soon as Yutang and Xiao Qing would become a couple, even if he doesn’t care for what she really is, her poison is going to injure him really bad. She also says that if she didn’t gave him her core, he would have been poisoned too. She can endure it because she has a thousand years of cultivation behind her, however, Xiao Qing’s 500 years are not enough for her to lose her core, without it she would be forced to reveal her real form. So that’s why she’s not willing to put them through that pain. So Xu Xian and Suzhen decides to make sure they spend less time together, so they can avoid that disaster where either Xiao Qing will get injured or either Yutang is going to. This is so sad TT I want them to live happily together. Please find a way.

It’s actually really cute how they are trying to keep Xiao Qing away from Yutang. And I never knew Xu Xian could lie so well. When Suzhen took Xiao Qing to buy new material for clothes, the merchant showed her a little pouch which is supposed to bring good fortune and make sure that a couple never separates. But Suzhen doesn’t want Xiao Qing to have so she shakes her so the merchant keeps in the end. But of course, Xiao Qing takes it with magic. When she tries to give it to Xu Xian he takes it saying it’s great, since he lost his, Suzhen was going to give him one. Then Xiao Qing tells him it’s not from Suzhen, but she wants to give it to Yutang. So he goes on about how he was surprised that Suzhen would chose one made out of such ominous materials and explains to her why it’s not good.

Xu Xian though feels a little bad for what he did and keeps thinking about it. Then he asks Suzhen, if she didn’t have a  thousand years of cultivation, would she still have been with him? Well... I am mostly thinking that he wouldn’t be with her because she got her human form just right then. Oh well. She says she would obviously leave if the price of their love was his life. Then he asks her, if they changed places, and that her life was in danger if they had to stay together, would she leave? And she’s like no, never. So he says, we are doing because we want them to be safe and well, but is it the right thing to do? Maybe we are causing more damage? So he’s wondering, can they find another way to avoid the poisoning? He read that the blood of an immortal could help, but Suzhen knows how hard it is to come accross.

But then she thinks of Xiao Qing’s underlings and go meet them. They say their blood is not good enough, the only one she could use would be... her faher’s blood, the Dragon king. Knowing of that, Suzhen naively thinks he would easily agree for his daughter and leaves without the four minor immortals being able to finish the story. Oops... That’s looking bad.

Suzhen finds on her a very precious artefact that belongs to the Dragon and takes it back to him. As a reward, she asks for the blood, but the king gets angry and won’t recognize Xiao Qing as his daughter, he only has nine sons he says and won’t agree. So Suzhen forcefully takes the blood and he freeze her. But in the end, he lets her go, but if she tries again to speak up for Xiao Qing, he won’t show mercy. He let her go this time only because she brought back the artefact.

Since she didn’t manage to get the blood, I don’t know what she stole then, she decides to tell the truth to Yutang. She can’t tell it to Xiao Qing because of her temper and she decides to do it herself and be the bad one, not Xu Xian. Okay so she doesn’t really tell the truth, she just tried to push him away by letting him know he’s not good enough for Xiao Qing, but then Xiao Qing happens to hear and now she hates Suzhen. Poor Suzhen. She’s so hurt, but she did it out of good will and Xiao Qing wouldn’t understand.

Oh no ): Xiao Qing kisses him. It’s too late. He tried to push her away, but he can’t, he likes her. And... I believe it would be hard to run away from someone like Xiao Qing haha. But it’s kind of cute. He frees himself from her grip and runs away.

Then Fahai comes in. He wants to take Xiao Qing back to Jinshan Temple, but she won’t and since he keeps pestering her, she screams for help. And of course, her hero is none other than Yutang. Fahai then leaves after hearing that dark voice. And well. Suzhen’s work was up to nothing. Yutang and Xiao Qing both confess to each others their feelings.

Oh no, that dark spirit takes over Fahai’s body and he can only go take possession of a cat’s body. this is looking bad.

Xiao Qing and Yutang didn’t go back to Baohe tang and went to look for Yutang’s origins. She found the object they are looking for, but it’s going to get complicated to retrieve it. Yutang comes back to Baohe tang looking for Xiao Qing, but there are no traces of her so Suzhen is worried.

Legend of the White Snake - Episode 10

So the officers are taking everyone from Jishitang because the officer died after eating their medicine... Of course. Even Ruyi. Will teach you to say nonsense and accusing Bai Suzhen. So to prevent Xu Xian getting involved, Suzhen turns herself in and ask not to bother the rest of them. Such a nice girl.

Yinxiang takes Xu Xian a long way, but he’s too smart and realizes she’s lying to him and guesses that Ruyi wants to do something to Suzhen. Xu Xian runs to the pharmacy, but it’s too late, Suzhen has already been taken away. She wonders how come he died from his medicine. She only prescribed a laxative in it and Xu Xian took it away. So it really was her. Well, I actually like that. It means she’s not as naive as I thought. When she tries to come back to her snake form, she realizes her powers have been sealed.

As soon as he hears about Suzhen being taken away, Xu Xian wants to go save her. He’s the one who prepared the medicine, not her so he should be the one taken away. Ruyi doesn’t want him to go, of course she likes better Suzhen being accused, and her dad also tries to convince him not to angry the officials otherwise they won’t be able to keep on doing business. But then Xu Xian says the only way for them not to be affected is to prove Suzhen’s innocence. So daddy lets him go because it makes sense.

That fox lady. I knew Jing Song shouldn’t trust her. Of course she will uses this to eat Suzhen’s core and after that, he won’t have any ways to defeat her. He’s blinded by jealousy. Or is he helping Suzhen? I mean, he doesn’t look that stupid. Anyways, that fox tells Suzhen that she’s sealed and that it’s thanks to her friend. It doesn’t take long for Suzhen to realizes that it’s Jing Song that gave her sur a magic tool.

Yep, exactly as I said. She plans to take Suzhen’s core. Just right then,  they come to free Suzhen, just in time, Kexin couldn’t get Suzhen’s core. Xu Xian came to clear Suzhen’s name. I hope he wins. And not by accusing himself...

At a guesthouse, Qing Er is eating and resenting that Suzhen likes Xu Xian better than her and she hears about what happened at the pharmacy. Qing Er doesn’t believe Suzhen killed someone, they tell her it’s true and to go look herself if she doesn’t believe it.

So Xu Xian’s idea is to drink himself the medicine that was prepared for the doctor. If he doesn’t die, it means that it’s not due the medicine. But ugly fox is there. I don’t trust her. Then another higher official comes to judge the case. When he hears Xu Xian’s name, he looks somewhat weird. He must know him, maybe? With the reading mind of the fox, we know that this dude is the one who killed Xu Xian’s dad. So she uses that to her advantage. Even though Xu Xian just had the medicine and didn’t die, he says there’s no proof that the medicine wouldn’t harm someone who’s sick. So they decide to punish Suzhen by hitting her. Xu Xian uses his body to protect her and accuses them of not having any proof to declare her guilty. So they say they have a witness: Hu Kexin. Fox lady. ARRRGH.

Qing Er TT Come and help Bai Suzhen and Xu Xian. She’s just wondering there why Suzhen isn’t replying. They changed the medicine somewhere and put in some kind of flower that in a too high dose can cause death. Xu Xian and Suzhen definitely didn’t put that in there. Oh yes! Qing Er! She realizes that Suzhen is tied by something that keeps her from moving. Good girl! Now go and help. So you become BFF again.

The officers claim that Suzhen is guilty and orders to beat her. Xu Xian says that he’s the one to have prepared the medicine so if any problem came out with it they should punish him, not her. But they don’t want to listen. As they are about to hit Suzhen, Qing Er finally helps. She makes them unable to hit her and disrupt their movements! Yay! I hope that now she heard Xu Xian begging to get punished instead of Suzhen she trusts him more. She starts yelling that they are accusing the innocent and that she was protected by the good spirits. The people around also starts believing it and wants Suzhen to be claimed innocent. So they have no other choice but to let her go, which means she’s not tied anymore by the sealing rope. HAHAHAHA. In your face ugly fox. Now, please save my dear Xu Xian.

Kexin pretends to faint and gets back the rope. Yikes. Qing Er follows her. QING ER! QING ER! QING ER!

They declare Xu Xian guilty, Suzhen tries to help him. But then he tells her that he’s okay, to not be afraid because he promised to protect her. This guy </3 He asks her to take good care of his sister for him. TT Such a nice guy. Don’t hurt him </3

I don’t really get what happened with that higher up official and Xu Xian’s father, but he’s looking for something and it seems to involves someone else’s death too. He goes to question him, but Xu Xian is like oh wow, you looked into my identity, good for you, by the way, I’m not going to make my father lose face. Mister officer tells him that his dad was killed because he hid some texts, if he tells him everything he knows, he will spare his life. Xu Xian just laughs. Don’t let that old creepy guy bully you! He won’t say anything.

Suzhen and big sister are cleaning the mess the officers made earlier and they find Xu Xian’s medicine journal. In it, on the day the dead guy came, he wrote that he needed the specific flower that poisoned the officer, but the pharmacy already used it all and it was nowhere to find in town and he had to switch ingredients. So it basically proves his innocence. YAY SUZHEN!

Right then Ruyi comes in and says bad thing about Suzhen, but Li Gongfu is like “we know Suzhen’s character, this has nothing to do with her, leave her alone”.

Suzhen gets confirmation that Xu Xian was framed, but the guy, if tells everything, his whole family will get involved and die. Suzhen decides to go see Xu Xian.

Back in his prison, the prisoner next to him tries to kill him, but he was already wary of him because he said he was sent to jail because he stole some mantou since he was so hungry, but then when they sent the food, he didn’t even eat, so Xu Xian knew it was a lie. Somebody’s trying to get rid of him quickly.

Suzhen and Li gongfu got in just right in time to save him. She asks him why he didn’t say anything about the flower, but he says he didn’t hide from her on purpose. He tries to convince her to leave because it’s unsafe. No matter how much she asks, he doesn’t want to tell her. She’s hurt because she thought he was thinking of her as his, but he retorts that it’s exactly for that reason that he doesn’t want her to face any danger. He tells her they have no other way because it’s the dude that harmed his father to death.

How much more complicated is this legend going to be? I didn’t think this drama would be so fascinating. It’s almost, almost, making me forget the sadness of the emptiness that left the Untamed into my heart. It can’t replace it, but it helps to make me forget how sad I am that this drama is ended. And I can’t help but keep watching.

Legend of the White Snake - Episode 25

Yay. Agaaaaiiiin. Of course, for the one post I forget to save drafts, my computer won’t let me have my ways! And I had to be almost at the end of the episode. However, maybe that’s a good thing that I have to rewrite this recap, because it was extremely... hm short compared to what I use to write. We’ll see how it turns out this time. Just maybe my reactions will be a little different than in the original post. Which is annoying because I really try to be extremely genuine with those reactions.

So staged. Ruyi runs towards the cliff, but she doesn’t even jump. She stops right at the edge and then Daoling disguised into an immortal pulls her back to Jiaorong’s side. That fake tells her that a snake demon is hiding next to his little brother and that he attracts demon.

Xiao Qing tries to spy on them, but they are too far away and can’t hear anything they say. But as she believes that that man is trying to dupe Jiaorong when he hands her a plate, she gets really and rushes to go fight that liar, but then she ate too much shaved ice earlier and she feels unwell so Yutang gives her a piggy back ride back to Baohe tang.

On their way back home they bump into an old man getting kicked out of a practice because he’s too poor to pay for medicine and treatments. His illness is very serious and he needs to be treated quickly. Suzhen offers to pay for his medical treatment so the clinic won’t have any reasons to refuse him. Since even so they don’t want to take him in, Xu Xian and Suzhen brings the uncle back to Baohe tang.

That ill person is really suspicious. He always keeps his eyes half closed half open and his disease is really strange, Xu Xian never saw something like that. Suzhen brings some rice porridge and he complains that she doesn’t give her anything good to eat and she explains to him that porridge is actually really good for health. When he’s better he can eat what he likes, she will even cook it for her.

Ruyi is really mad at Daoling for not saying that Suzhen is the white snake, that then she did everything for nothing. But he tells her that the plate he gave her is real, he took it from when he was an immortal. And I just realized, while watching a second time, why his face when he was younger looked so similar. If I am not wrong, it’s the guy that was playing the son of the second prince in Eternal Love, the poor little boy that was framed by Su Jin. Poor him. Anyways, that has nothing to do with the story here. He fell in love with an immortal looking like Ruyi and because of that neglected his duty, which resulted in him losing his status and becoming a demon. He believes Ruyi is that same girl and that she followed him in the mortal realm. For what I have seen, she’s probably forced to be there as a punishment, she seemed to have the same bad character, too spoiled.

The sick old man is going through Xu Xian’s notebook and even corrects mistakes here and there, adds more notes. Seems like he’s an immortal actually. When he hears footstep, he lies down again. Suzhen and Xu Xian prepared a special medicine for him, but he says it smells so bad, medicine doesn’t need to be so ill tasting, they could add dattes and and a few more things to make it less bitter. He accepts to take his medicine after Suzhen talks to him and when he’s complaining because it’s too bitter, she hands him some deserts she prepared to forget the taste. They even get him a bath with herbs ready. Since they treated him well, he gives to Xu Xian a medicine book.

Jiaorong’s prayers to the plate (which is kind of a token of authority or something like that) invokes a big storm which hurts Xiao Qing and she goes off Yutang’s back. Then lightning breaks a tree and Yutang uses his body to protect Xiao Qing. I ship. Very had.

When she sees that wather, Suzhen gets worried. I believe she knows it’s no good for her kind and the uncle pushes them back inside. He thinks it’s actually coming for him and he leaves. Seems like he’s  the Lü immortal, the real one this time. He wonders who dares use this plate without having the right to and it breaks down, making Jiaorong unconscious.

While Xiao Qing is taking care of Yutang’s injury, she’s crying, but she tries to hide it from him. How cute.

Suzhen and Xu Xian burn incense for Lü immortal, since they notice it was him. He seems happy with their thank, so he makes things appear on the altar they made for him.

Back home, Jiaorong wakes up screaming, she had nightmares in which she saw the real immortal Lü telling her not to believe again in demons, otherwise she’s going to pay the price. Xu Xian tells her that the first one must have been a fake, which is why the last one told her not to believe in demons again. Gongfu was very worried about her. Jiaorong then tells them that it was Ruyi who introduced her to that immortal, he really could use magic. Then Jiaorong is worried that Ruyi is also tricked by that fake, but right Xiao Qing comes in and says that Ruyi and that fake were together, that she’s trying to harm them. Suzhen asks Xiao Qing to stop saying that nonsense. She knows that Jiaorong still likes Ruyi and she doesn’t want the confrontation. Jiaorong still actually asks for forgiveness and then Xiao Qing is starting to feel unwell again.

While watching on her, Suzhen tells Xiao Qing that there is no medicine for her poisoning. Xiao Qing begs Suzhen then to take care of her four underlings and.... of Zhang Yutang. Who’s really worried about her. Then... Hahahaha! Okay, I love it. Actually, she’s just getting her first period. I love have how Suzhen teased her.

Awww. Yutang is so worried about Xiao Qing. He asks Xu Xian to tell him the truth, no matter what she has, he’s willing to take care of her. Cute <3 No matter how expensive the medicine, he’s willing to pay. Xiao Qing hears that and she yells that she’s not sick and leaves. Xu Xian then tells Yutang to make sure Xiao Qing drinks a lot of hot water, nothing too cold and that he doesn’t fight with her. Four or five days later, she should be completely healed. Hahaha.

Omg. Jiaorong and Gongfu looking for a husband for Xiao Qing and asking Suzhen’s opinin. Suzhen’s like... oh sorry, I want to keep Xiao Qing for myself a few years still, I will take care of that when the times come. But that worries her a lot and Xu Xian notices that she’s worried and they discuss that matter. Actually, Xu Xian is shipping too, but Suzhen isn’t so sure about that. Xiao Qing can’t be compared to her. It’s different. Feels like she doesn’t dare to tell him that her core is inside him so he wouldn’t die.

Moh. Xiao Qing tries to flirt with Yutang, but he’s completely oblivious to it and all dedicated to work haha.

Worried Suzhen makes it that Xiao Qing tells her what she really thinks of Yutang which is... like!

Legend of the White Snake - Episode 19

So. I was half way through the episode when my computer decided it was the perfect time to reboot. Again! Yep, I think it’s sulking because I now have a desk computer and uses it a little more often. So pardon me if the recap of the first half of the episode is lacking, I have already seen it and have to rewrite what I did. I should save drafts way more often hahaha. Saving just now. Just in case.

Xiao Qing is trying to keep herself cool by swimming in West Lake. Then Fahai comes and traps her in her bowl. But he grows a flower so she would be feeling a little less the heat. Can Xiao Qing build a harem and have many lovers? Am I weird to ship her with almost every body?

Xu Xian comes back home with a bottle of alcohol for him to drink with Suzhen for the Duanwu festival. So Ruyi asks Xu Xian if he added realgar inside of it, as it tradition, but he didn’t so she adds it in for him. So Suzhen won’t have choice but to reveal her true form. She’s so mean. Suzhen is still feeling unwell because of the heat and it worries Xu Xian. He came back earlier to spend time with his wife and pours wine for her. She tries to not drink it, but in the end she can’t really find a reason good enough to refuse. So she ends up drinking it anyways.

Fahai finally releases Xiao Qing and she asks him why would he help her. Then he just ignores her. Then, due to the gift his master left for him, he realizes that Xiao Qing is half immortal and warns her that as soon as she hurts people, he won’t show mercy even if she’s half immortal. Xiao Qing is of course asking for a duel someday later and finally realizes he called her half-immortal and asks him about it, but he just leaves, so she can only run after him.

Back home, Suzhen is experiencing problems to maintain her human form and because she’s wearing the buddhist beads Ruyi gave her, she can’t use her spiritual energy. So she asks Xu Xian to go out. It takes her a lot to make him go out. Why won’t she just  take off that bracelet? Gosh. It’s so simple, why does she not know those things when she was reluctant even to accept it as a gift... Outside, Xu Xian is getting really worried about his wife. Then Ruyi comes in yelling that a snake went inside the room where Suzhen is. Which is bad because Suzhen is transforming back. A panicked Xu Xian breaks the door only to see a huge white snake inside the house. He thinks it ate his wife and dies out of the shock ): Well at first I wasn’t sure if he died or just fainted, but he literally dies on the spot.

When Ruyi comes back with Jiaorong, it’s only to see a big white snake fleeing away and a dead Xu Xian. I hope Ruyi is happy now. She killed Xu Xian with her harmful ways.

Fahai runs into Xu Xian’s house to see he’s dead and believes that the White Snake killed Xu Xian. Suzhen then comes back, so sad because she knows she’s the one who hurt Xu Xian and then big sis asks her how come she escaped by herself, leaving Xu Xian alone. Then as he sees her and his staff doesn’t react, Fahai is doubting again. He blamed her but she’s not the culprit? Is it true? Suzhen blames Ruyi for giving her the buddhist beads and Fahai prevents her from hurting Ruyi. But what actually stops her is that she sees Xu Xian’s soul trying to leave his body. She asks Li Gongfu to take Jiaorong and Ruyi to rest, she will stay by Xu Xian’s side. Then she begs Fahai to save Xu Xian, she’s willing to pay any price. But Fahai has no way to save him.

Suzhen traps herself into pain and sadness over the death of her husband. She’s desperate to find a way to bring him back to life. Then the rest of the family comes to take Xu Xian’s corpse. Xiao Qing warns them that Suzhen won’t allow it and indeed she doesn’t. Big sis is a little unhappy with her and blames her for not having been by Xu Xian’s side when he was attacked by the snake.

Suzhen tries to convince them that there’s still a way to save him, that he’s not dead. She says he’s not dead and takes big sis in to show her. How dare that Ruyi follow and come in? Doesn’t she feel guilty for what happened to Xu Xian? And she even has the nerves to tell Suzhen that if she really likes Xu Xian, she should let him go? WHAT? Did I hear her say that? That little. Okay. Now I hate you. You pretend that you have nothing to do with this? You should be a mess and cursing your own stupidity.

And now big sis accusing her again of running away without him when the snake came. Poor Suzhen. Jiaorong orders to take Xu Xian’s corpse and says that Suzhen is crazy thinking she can still revive him. But Suzhen begs her to have three more days. In that span of time, she can revive him. Jiaorong agrees but if after that he hasn’t been saved, she shouldn’t come back. Poor Suzhen. Now the in laws dislike her. Get that awful Ruyi out of that room. She has no right to stay when she harmed that much Xu Xian.

Xiao Qing is mad at Suzhen for promising to save Xu Xian, but she says she knows a way and begs her to go get Fahai for her as she needs his help. Even though at first he’s not really willing to help, he ends up agreeing. She needs him to help Xiao Qing looking on the lamp, that fire is going to prevent Xu Xian’s soul to disperse. She’s herself planning to go to Kunlun mountains and get an herb to save him. Xiao Qing tries to prevent her from doing so, because it’s a place for immortals where demons shouldn’t go, but Suzhen is determined. She’s rather die than not try. Xiao Qing wants to go with her, but Suzhen convinces her to stay and keep an eye on Xu Xian and her core because in this world, the only person she can trust now is Xiao Qing. Suzhen really knows how to get Xiao Qing’s feelings.

JIN SONG!!!!!

Okay, out of that random moment of happiness. He’s like happy to learn that Xu Xian died. Well I guess anybody would like to see their rival out of the way and it was kind of bound to happen. Suzhen is clearly going to live longer than Xu Xian. I can’t dislike him for being happy. Even though my heart screams for that poor Xu Xian. And he’s going to stop her. Oh god. Jin Ling. Poor little thing.

Wow. The set of the Kunlun mountains is just sooooo beautiful. At first, when Suzhen sees Jin Song, she’s kind of happy. I think she misses him a little, but as soon as she understands he’s here to try to convince her to stop, she gets sad again and asks him to mind his own business. As they are about to fight each other, they get distracted by something and Suzhen takes that opportunity to flee.

Back home, because Xu Xian’s body isn’t degrading, Fahai has to repulse evil spirits. She needs to calm down to be able to help him take care of the body.

The spirit that try to come in was actually Wang Daoling. He couldn’t get any information and asks Ruyi to distract at night the monk so he can fight with Xiao Qing. Because he’s no match for Fahai. Gosh. That Ruyi. She’s going to kill Xu Xian twice. And she doesn’t even... what? She has no guilt for what she’s done? She blames it on Suzhen. That girl has mental issues. Please somebody take her away.

Suzhen gets discovered by one of the disciple of the master of Kunlun mountains and fights with him to get the medicine. However, without her core, she’s no match for it and if it wasn’t for Jin Song, she would have died. He takes her away and is so worried when she doesn’t wake up. He tries again to convince her to go back with him to Emei, but she won’t give up and she’s willing to sacrifice herself to save Xu Xian. Then he tells her he can save Xu Xian. At first she doesn’t believe him, but he insists. He gives him the opportunity to go in the past 5 times, it’s super dangerous though.

She then uses that little disciple’s appearance to trick the other disciple only to learn that the master took all the magical herbs away to make it a present for some immortal. She follows to there and her way of getting in is to use the younger disciple’s appearance. One of the guards is doubting, but the other convinces him it’s all fine so she gets in without trouble. For now. More obstacles are waiting for her.

Legen of the White Snake - Episode 18

Wang Daoling took Ruyi back to his den to show her something that will prove his identity. If she’s willing to stay, all of his treasures are hers. She asks him if he has any magic powers and he demonstrate by lighting a candle. She tells him to change into Xu Xian’s form, but he tells her that about the most handsome form he can get, since frogs are just ugly in the beginning. Going for a handsome avatar would be a waste of energy. Like big time. Well he changes, but he can’t hold it more than a few seconds, which makes Ruyi angry. And here’s why Xu Xian could never be with her. She only likes him because he’s handsome. If he were ugly, she wouldn’t even think of him ):

Awww. Suzhen ships Xiao Qing and Yutang. How cute. They did has planned and are giving free consultations. Fahai happens to pass by and is still confused. Then he hears people, other doctors, say that they only do that to increase their income, so when it’s not free, people would still come to them. Right then he sees people giving stuff to Xu Xian’s big sister. Nooo. They are really genuine about it.

Ruyi tries to leave Wang Daoling’s place and he tells her that it’s not he doesn’t want to get rid of Bai Suzhen for her, it’s just that she’s a snake too old and powerful for him to win over. Ruyi rushes to go tell Xu Xian about it but Daoling stops her from doing so. If she doesn’t show her real form, there’s no way Xu Xian is going to believe it. Right then, Fahai comes in. Oh no. I don’t like this. Well it’s to be expected that Xu Xian will know someday, it’s in the legend. Oh crap crap crap...

I’m just having one little problem with that. It’s like... Why does Fahai comes in and out of the story like that? I mean, he’s there for a few seconds in here and there. As if they don’t have time for his story? I don’t know, it does bother me a little because it lacks... hm, how do I say that? Consistency? I don’t know, it’s not continuous, I really lose track about what’s happening to him. I feel like there’s too many plot right now. I can see how they can be linked, but it’s still a little confusing.

As I thought, Minister Liang took his underling back. Well, at least he kind of takes care of his people. I can’t decide wether he’s just evil or if it’s only because he’s hurt since his kid died. I don’t know. But he’s probably at the very least a little bit evil.

Dragon boat festival is at the corner and Jiaorong is teaching Suzhen to make zongzi. Have you ever eaten zongzi? That is just one of the best things in the world. I especially like the ones with dates in it! Anyways, Suzhen notices that Jiaorong wraps the zongzi differently. She explains, it’s a different kind of zongzi and the name is actually homophones with like... a wish to have a son haha. They are thinking of Xu Xian and Suzhen getting a baby how cute. But why don’t they make one themselves first? Hahaha. Big sister is trying to play the matchmaker for Xiao Qing too. How cute. I love Xu Xian’s big sister.

Xiao Qing thus invites Yutang to drink and complains about how they are pushing her to get married, but Yutang suggest that they go to the temple and pray together haha. Poor Xiao Qing.

On their way to the temple, Minsiter Liang posted assassins to get rid of Xu Xian and Suzhen, but their car intercepts by accident a consort of high rank and since the lady heard of them, she was eager to actually meet them. They are all going to  the Guanyin temple and decide to travel all together. So the assassins have no choice but to retreat. All three of them wishes for a son.

Xiao Qing and Yutang get to the temple and  Yutang prays for a gentle spouse someday. Xiao Qing isn’t really interested and thinks it’s better to live a happy life free and by herself. At that temple, there’s a tree wrapped in red ribbon and it is said that if two people catch the same string, they are meant to be. It’s a little more complicated than that hm. It’s a kind of fate. Without it, no matter how hard you try, your couple won’t hold on the long run. Xiao Qing tries it and ends up pulling the same string as Yutang. Seeing that, she says that’s just bullshit and she decides it’s time to leave haha. Those two <3 Yutang keeps the red string.

So Ruyi tries to trap Fahai and seems to be quite successful at it. She pretends to be attacked by a demon and makes sure Fahai saves her. She then asks him for something to defeat demons because she’s scared. Well, she just want to take down Suzhen. Then, he gives her a hm... I don’t how to say this, like... the necklace thing with beads? It’s going to protect her from demons if she wears it and if a demon wears it, it won’t be able to use their powers.

Ruyi and Wang Daoling makes Suzhen use her powers which makes her pretty weak, especially since that period of the year is the worst for snakes. Xiao Qing scolds her for using her powers to heal somebody, but Suzhen thought that the poisoning was weird and that if she didn’t act, they would use this opportunity to bother again Xu Xian. Suzhen also tells Xiao Qing to go in hiding, since her cultivation is not high enough to maintain her human form, but she herself won’t go because she has a bad feeling that something would happen. No ): If she does that, she’s trapping herself and without Xiao Qing to help her... aoutch...

Ruyi pretends to be sick in front of Xu Xian’s house so she would get in. And then it works. Xu Xian believes in Ruyi and won’t listen to Suzhen who fears she still hasn’t given up. Well Xu Xian is  too naive. Suzhen is still feeling unwell and he worries that he has to leave her alone now that Xiao Qing is gone. Right then, Ruyi offers to take care of her, but Suzhen won’t agree because she’s a guest and sick. Then Ruyi offers her the beads from the monk, but of course, Suzhen can’t accept that... That girl.

But you know what, it’s really sad. Because even if she managed to harm Suzhen, she won’t even get what she wants and she will end up being the one who hurt so bad Xu Xian. Like... why does those girls never notice something so easy to understand. Maybe because I am the opposite and don’t go for what I want in life, so I to me it’s evident? I don’t know but gosh. Please, just stop.

And please, bring back Jin Song. We need him back. Because I liked him.

Legend of the White Snake - Episode 1

For a long time, I used to live in Hangzhou, right next to the West lake and the Leifeng tower which are both related to the legend of the white snake, hence I really love this story. There are plenty of movies out there about it and I realized lately that I didn’t watch any of it and as I was looking for something else on Netflix, I saw this tv show and decided that I would give it a try. Also because I am lately really into Xianxia drama and well, this is right in that category. It seems this has an interesting new take on the traditional legend and I am looking forward to see what it has in there for me!

So the drama starts as the White Snake changes herself into a human form for the first time. She asks the help of a squirrel, Jing Song. They have been neighbours for at least the past millenium thus he recognizes her easily and teases her a little bit. She then starts to learn to walk. It’s just a few seconds in, but I like the fact that they introduced that kind of detail. Since she was a snake, she never had legs in the beginning, it seems only logical for me that she doesn’t know how to use them right at the beginning. It gives a little the Little Mermaid vibe.

The digital sceneries are really beautiful. So far, the costumes too.

Suzhen wants to go to a temple to expresse her gratitude to Guanyin now that she has a human form. The Bodhisattva tells her to go and experience the humans’ feelings, well it’s hard to translate in English. So Suzhen decides to go to the mortal realm and improve her cultivation further more.

In town, a doctor named Xu Xian sets up a little corner to treat people. As some thugs wants to beat him up, he stops them easily and diagnose one of them with a disease related to stasis of blood. He then gets a lot of attention and seems like he’s a famous practician. Suzhen hears about him and wants to go have a look. Right then, some girl pretending to be a man, claims that Xu Xian prescribed the wrong medicine. As he stands up to defend his point, he sees Bai Suzhen and I believe he falls for her beauty immediately. He finally proves he’s right, but I think he noticed that that guy was actually a girl.

Oh! Here comes the monk! A pretty handsome monk though. Usually in the pictures, he’s depicted as really ugly. He finds another animal that took human form, a little white tiger, it’s still a cub, and fights it. No matter what, Yaojing are yaojing. He doesn’t care if they are good or bad. When he’s out of meditation, his master asks him about what he saw and teaches him that even yaojing could cultivate in a good way. He gives him two tools to trap yaojing though and tells him that if the staff doesn’t move, he can’t move either.

Bai Suzhen realizes then that the lady from earlier was actually doing it on purpose, so Xu Xian would look even more better as a doctor. Suzhen thinks it’s really bad of him to do that. I personally believe he didn’t know about it and that’s why he was surprised when he recognized the girl, which is why he knew she wasn’t a boy. Suzhen wants to punish them for tricking people, but she remembers the bodhisattva said not to use her power and create trouble in the mortal realm. So she decides to report them. Unfortunately for her, he’s close to the officer in that city, so they just warn her to mind her own business.

Since the officials won’t help her, she decides she will just try to convince him not to do that anymore and give back the money he took away. However, as he takes her fake mustache away he recognizes her as the beautiful lady and just kicks her out. She’s still determined to make people know the truth about him.

Suzhen notices a really evil aura coming in the city and thinks that there could be evil spirits around, it carries with it the smell of blood. She bumps again into Xu Xian and he holds of her hand, but she’s in a hurry and tricks him to release her.

Suzhen saves a little boy who takes her for a celestial being. He tells her about her mom’s illness and asks if she came to heal her. Suzhen promises his mom will be okay and on the way to his home, she protects him again against the evil spirit. But then, she leaves, chasing the monster while the little boy reunites with Xu Xian and his sister. As she follows the evil aura, she sees the monk Fahai and gets scared by him so she runs away. His staff starts moving which means there are evil spirits in town.

So in the end, if Xu Xian tricks people, it’s to have enough money to buy medicine for the mother of Chang Sheng, the little boy Suzhen saved earlier. She comes and notices that she has been poisoned by a snake spirit. She looks pretty concerned but still promises to heal his mom. Then Xu Xian realizes she’s there and they make a bet together about who will find the way to cure Cheng Sheng’s mother first. Suzhen ask Chang Sheng where has his mom been and he tells him that on the day she got sick, she visited the Nuwa temple to pray for him.

Oh so the lady that helped Xu Xian tricked people is also a snake, but a green one this time. She’s mostly stronger than Suzhen, she already has a human form and only practiced cultivation for 500 years, while Suzhen did for 1000 years before getting able to take human form. Well that snake lady hides with her subordinates in the Nuwa temple. Suzhen comes in and have a fight with that green snake. I was wrong, she’s much stronger.

So far, for a first episode, I like it and I am eager to watch more of it.

Legend of the White Snake - Episode 22

They both miss each other so much. Those two. Stop breaking my heart, please.

Xiao qing tries to cheat by using her powers to copy the books, but Fahai won’t let her.

Next morning, when Ruyi goes to see Xu Xian, she notices he fell asleep while looking at a portrait he made of Suzhen and she gets angry.

Xiao Qing is finally done with copying and gets angry about being called half immortal. She then says that Fahai actually doesn’t understand what is having fun and offers to take him experience it a little, but he’s... well he’s a monk, and a very strict one at that. That obviously wouldn’t be easy.

When Xu Xian goes back to his room, it’s only to find people moving his stuff away. Ruyi asked a fengshui master and he said to change everything in the room because it’s not proper for good luck. Then Jiaorong reminds him he has  to get married with Ruyi and that his previous wedding was shattered because they didn’t take care of arranging his room properly. Big sis then forces him to take Ruyi out for a walk and she won’t listen to him. This is so unfair for him. He doesn’t like Ruyi...

Hahahaha. Wow. Xiao Qing takes Fahai to drink. That’s so funny. He doesn’t want to drink it because to him alcohol is only changing someone’s behaviour wildly. But Xiao Qing tells him that if he wants to go around in this world, he needs to understand why people experience sadness and happiness. Actually, Xiao Qing is pretty smart. If he wants to take her back to read rites, he must first answer that question and she leaves him.

Xu Xian tells once again that he can’t marry Ruyi, because she’s just a little sister to him, there’s no feelings between a man and a woman. So he asks her to retreat from that wedding, but she won’t. And if he doesn’t want to help organizing the wedding because he’s too unwell, she’ll take care of everything with Jiaorong. Poor Xu Xian. Why is everybody working against his happiness?

While looking out for Xiao Qing, Suzhen ends up in the shop where Xu Xian bought for her the hairpin. Then Ruyi comes in asking about wedding pins. Poor Suzhen. Hearing that must be so painful. She knows that if Ruyi is getting married, it’s probably to no one else but Xu Xian. Ruyi then notices her and invites her to her wedding. Then just as Suzhen tries to leave, Xu Xian gets in and Suzhen rushes out. Xu Xian doesn’t care for Ruyi and runs after Suzhen.

It rains a lot in this drama. But actually, it does rain a lot in Hangzhou. That’s pretty convenient hehe. Seems like he couldn’t catch her and asks a boatman if he can take shelter from the rain in his boat. Boat in which Suzhen is already sitting. She’s about to congratulate him for his wedding, but he stops her. Because he doesn’t understand if they are going a separate path, why does everything he lays his eyes on reminds him of her. Awww. Cell memory. Your eyes remember how much you cherished her, but your brain can’t process the information. Poor darling. He doesn’t understand why she pushes him away. Since the rain stops, she leaves first, but he follows her.

Just right then, Xiao Qing is again running after Ruyi to kill her. Awww. Xiao Qing. From the beginning, you should have poisoned her <3 When Ruyi is about to reveal Suzhen’s real identity, she uses magic to silence her and takes her away for a private talk. She’s scaring Ruyi so bad hehehe.

Xiao Qing almost revealed everything to Xu Xian again, saying how much Suzhen sacrificed for him.

Suzhen threatens Ruyi that if she dares to hurt again Xu Xian, she’ll come and kill her. For now she doesn’t not because she’s scared of her, but because she doesn’t want to hurt Xu Xian’s feelings.

Yikes. They are really holding that wedding? I am so unhappy about that. Xu Xian too. He doesn’t wear his wedding clothes. He’s firm about it. He won’t marry her and his sister is saying on and on again how Ruyi took care of him when he was sick. He says that there are many ways of thanking someone, so why should he get married with her? Well if he doesn’t marry Ruyi, he should never call her his sister anymore. Here, I think she’s really selfish and doesn’t even care about his little brother’s happiness. I mean, what the point of being alive to be forced to live with someone he doesn’t like. He would never be happy.

Xiao Qing isn’t happy about that wedding so she starts a huge storm. When Ruyi falls down on the ground, Xu Xian helps her up and tells her to go home since the weather is so bad and he’s going to explain to everyone it’s his mistake. Ruyi is still acting like everything is going to go her way.

Fahai has a fight with Xiao Qing because she started the storm but this time he won’t spare her and he traps her inside his bowl.

Suzhen realizes Xiao Qing went to cause ruckus and rushes out to stop her.

Jiaorong comes out to see why Xu Xian hasn’t come back with Ruyi yet and she’s surprised that he’s not wearing his wedding clothes. Then he sees the umbrella she’s using and the engravings on it are the one he made for Suzhen. Is he going to finally remember?

And just when he remembers everything, he sees Suzhen in town. No matter how Ruyi and Jiaorong tries to stop him from going, he runs to Suzhen. Right then, Wang Daoling tries to kill Xu Xian twice, but Suzhen stops him. That’s just what you deserve Ruyi. Being humiliated like this for trying to impose that wedding. Now they won’t separate ever again. True love always win aww. I’m just so cheesy, I’m disgusting myself.

Fahai says Xiao Qing was killing people, so he’s taking her to Jinshan to cultivate. Then she asks him if he’s blind. She didn’t kill anyone, she just made the wind blow to ruin the wedding. He doesn’t believe her and then... HIS LOVE RIVAL COMES IN AND SAVES XIAO QING. I was starting to think it was a long time since we hadn’t seen Zhang Yutang. That’s a problem with this drama. New characters come in and disappear before coming back again. Anyways, he makes Fahai run away.

Xu Xian apologize to everybody for this aborted wedding, but he already has a wife and it’s Suzhen, he can’t marry Ruyi. Because of his illness, he did many stupid things. Ruyi and Jiaorong tries to convince him again, but he’s decided. He won’t marry Ruyi. Ruyi then suggests she becomes the wife and Suzhen becomes like... the second wife. Jiaorong asks Suzhen to be reasonable, but she answers that she won’t leave Xu Xian ever again. So Jiaorong then suggests that they both become wives, equally. Suzhen doesn’t say anything, but Xu Xian refuses. He can only love Suzhen. He would do anything to repay Ruyi, except marrying her.

Ruyi then gets angry and decides to tell everybody that Suzhen is a demon, but Xu Xian is like dudette, I know better than anyone who she is and she’s my only wife in this one and the next. Ruyi tries to kill Suzhen, but woops. She ends up stabbing Xu Xian. Finally, Jiaorong wakes up and sees Ruyi true face. So Ruyi promises that she’ll take revenge for that day.

Wow. Xu Xian lies to his big sis  to protect Suzhen. He tells her she wasn’t even there when she was hurt, because he sent her get something. But then she doesn’t understand why Suzhen never tried to explain herself. Xu Xian says he and Suzhen can still take care of Ruyi, but she probably won’t let them, so he asks his sister to help him with that.

Legend of the White Snake - Episode 35

Xu Xian has a vision of Ruyi coming to tell him she’s going to meet her father and he finds in his room the clothes he bought on the lantern festival. There’s also a letter in which she asks him to bury her next to her father. She trapped the inner demon in Wang Daoling’s core, but it will hold it only for seven days. Then Xu Xian wakes up really scared. So it was a dream? nope, the clothes are really there.

Xu Xian feels bad for what happened to Ruyi and blames himself that it came to this ending. Well actually, I think it’s a nice ending for her. She died doing the right thing and realized her wrongdoings. I can’t like her, but I still pity her. And I forgive her.

Fahai have a look at Suzhen and warns Xu Xian that being pregnant and still fighting like she did would harm her. She needs to retreat and start cultivating again to recuperate. Also Xu Xian doesn’t want to worry her about the demon core, but Fahai thinks they have to do something about it. Lately town’s people are afraid of them. It would be impossible in seven days to eradicate their ill feelings. So when the inner demon comes out again, it will feed on it. So Xu Xian asks how can they destroy it. The only way is for a pure heart to take it in and control it. I don’t like it. I feel like Xu Xian is going to sacrifice himself.... Yikes.

He promises her everything she says. He’s really going to do it. He’s going to sacrifice himself. I CAN’T AGREE WITH THAT. Can’t they just live happily together? Fahai, you put that thing to life, you take care of it and let those poor people lead a happy life. Find another stupid person  to sacrifice themselves. He asks her to wait for him when he dies, for the next life, since humans don’t live very long. He’s going to do it. He sends her right away to Emei. So she won’t know and won’t be able to stop him.

I am going to cry so much. He’s even sending Jiaorong, Gongfu and the baby to Emei. Wow. Stupid Xu Xian. I am already crying. If he dies, I swear...

Jiaorong and Gongfu thinks something is odd, so they go back to Ling’An...

I feel this is going to be stressful again. I am already feeling unwell.

Omg. I am crying so bad I can’t even see anymore. He’s doing this so people in town would think he’s the demon and then kill the inner demon thus Suzhen won’t be mistaken as a demon anymore. He does eat the core and looks in so much pain.

Oh no. It looks like it found a weakness in Xu Xian too. I can’t breath anymore since I am so sad.

Gongfu comes back home and they are happy to see him because they want him to catch the demon. And people says that the demon is Xu Xian. Gongfu really ends catching him and Xu Xian begs him to go and see Fahai.

At Emei, Suzhen is missing Xu Xian, so Xiao Qing suggests she just goes back and see him. Since Xiao Qing promises to not be lazy and keep cultivating, Suzhen decides to go back.

In town they post announcements that Xu Xian is a demon which angers so much Jiaorong. People seeing that she is Xu Xian’s sister, they want to kill her too. Gongfu comes right in time to protect her.

Suzhen gets back home, but Xu Xian’s not there. She finds Jiaorong praying and she begs her to go and save Xu Xian. People say he’s a demon.

Okay. I am still crying and my heart is pounding and I am feeling so very unwell but... how come demon-Xu Xian is so handsome? I never really thought Xu Xian was handsome from the very beginning but now.. Wow. Hello you. But please don’t die. Keep the look and stay alive. That’s all I ask. Or... even go back your old look, but just stay alive.

Suzhen asks to see Fahai and Xu Xian tells him to send her away. If he sees her, he might not be able to maintain his pure heart. No matter how, he really won’t see her one last time. Why is there no other way? He can’t die.

Fahai tries to send her away, but she won’t go. Finally Xu Xian comes to see her. I don’t want to see this. He pretends he wants to become a monk and sends her away. He still hides the truth from her. So Fahai is going to burn down Xu Xian.

Back at Emei, Xiao Qing sees Jing Song. Jing Song TT I thought he was completely dead. He tells her Suzhen is in danger and she must help her. Xu Xian took the inner demon in and that’s why Fahai is going to kill him. So Suzhen is using forbidden magic to save her husband. Jing Song. I found a way. Please, Xiao Qing, I hope you can be successful. So Xiao Qing goes to her father’s place. They owe her and it’s time they pay her back.

Suzhen turned dark too now. Xu Xian, that was a stupid, very stupid plan. How could you think that she would leave you behind. Xu Xian tries to tell this is what he wanted, but she won’t hear anything. This is way too stressful. Couldn’t they keep it like... easier? My poor heart...

Legend of the White Snake - Episode 33

There’s already a problem and Ruyi hasn’t even come up yet lol. Suzhen is kind of trapped in an imaginary world where she takes of Xu Xian and the baby and wishes that it would stay like this forever... Xu Xian has to go in the dream and convince to come out, otherwise, they will both be in the same state and die. Almost nothing too dramatic here. Xu Xian still wants to go. Fahai agrees to send him in and gives him some rosary beads to protect him and keep him in touch with the real world. So he gets in the dream, which is a mix of West Lake and Emei mountains. He has just been there for like three seconds and he doesn’t want to leave either. This is going to be... hm... hard.

Oh crap. Crap big time, big big time. Xiao Qing is going crazy and is also possessed by inner demons. This is no good. Wow, my only hope now is Wang Daoling. However, I must say that Xiao Qing in black with a more mature hairstyle is gorgeous.

Fahai’s staff is starting to acting up because Xiao Qing has turn dark. It’s going to be a hard night.

Back in the dream, Suzhen won’t believe Xu Xian and he has to fight with a fake vision of himself.

Xiao Qing wrecks havoc in town and gets stopped by Gongfu. When she sees him, she looks so lost and runs away. I hope she doesn’t do anything to him and I hope he can save her. I love that character. Oh wow! It kicked out the inner demon! Li Gongfu, you’re so special! Please keep our Xiao Qing safe and out of that evil spirit.

Since there is danger in Ling’an, the four immortals sends Fahai take care of it, they will keep on helping Xu Xian and Suzhen while he’s gone. He  makes a barrier around them and  they shall not take one step out of it.

In town a lady has gone crazy and now Ruyi tells the town people that in the Nuwa temple, there is a demon snake. She gets everybody on her side and they all run to the Nuwa temple.

Okay, Xiao Qing is still corrupted and she’s asking the people she kidnapped to die for Suzhen. Please Fahai, save her now. I can only believe in you... But now that you left the temple... I am worried for Suzhen and Xu Xian since all the villagers are going to the Nuwa Temple. Oh thank god. What Fahai did made them invisible, people can’t see them. They press Xu Xian to go faster, but Suzhen isn’t really willing to trust him. Please, realize that this is your real husband... Meanwhile, Ruyi locks all the townspeople inside and she’s about to set fire to the temple. All the people inside get corrupted by the inner demon and starts to fight together. The immortals... They are stuck making a difficult choice. Xu Xian, faster so we can save everybody TT Why is this so hard to watch? I’m crying a river now... Suzhen pushes Xu Xian away after he let her stab her and said if she doesn’t come, he will stay with her in there too. She sends him back to his body. Please Suzhen, come out... Xu Xian blames himself for hurting her so much that she doesn’t want to come back to him.

Xu Xian begs them to bring the villagers in the protection too. They say that right now if anything happens, they won’t be able to bring Suzhen back, however Xu Xian pleads that they save everybody.

Fahai and Xiao Qing and fighting together. Then he sees fire coming from the temple and he realizes that he was forced out of the temple. It was all a trap ): 

The inner demon teaches Ruyi how to cultivate dark side. Or something like that. So she would be like the first demon, the one who lost her child.

Xu Xian says that if he and Suzhen can’t pass this trial, than that’s it, please let everybody in. He keeps hugging Suzhen next to his heart.

OH! SUZHEN! She’s starting to realize that’s a dream. She asks Xu Xian what date is it and he says it’s duanwu festival. Then she’s surprised that it’s a full moon. Thinking even a little bit more, it’s always the full moon, which makes no sense. Please Suzhen, come back. She realizes that this is the doing of the inner demon. Then he asks why she didn’t go bakc with that real Xu Xian? He says she has been doubting for a while and that she didn’t go because she didn’t want to. She feels so bad to have refused him when he risked his life to come and get her. Those two. She leaves. Suzhen TT 

Just right when the people come in, Suzhen’s human appearance is pale in Xu Xian’s arms. But they want to kill her now ): But at least Xu Xian is happy, his adored wife decided to believe him and came back to him. At least the four immortals protect them.

Outside, the inner demon got more powerful thanks to Ruyi. She looks way older also. Now, I am waiting for Wang Daoling to come to the rescue. I know you don’t like Xu Xian, but can’t you at least do it for Ruyi? I think he’s quite genuine towards her. The four immortals are almost down, they can’t hold much more longer.

Xu Xian expresses his regrets to Suzhen, saying that he’s sorry for not having took care of her. He begs her to open her eyes and talk to him. He doesn’t care if she’s angry at him, whatever she wants to say is fine as long as she wakes up. If she doesn’t.. well he’s going to join her in death.

SHE FINALLY OPENS HER EYES. They are so happy to have each other again. Suzhen can feel she retrieve like 80% of her powers. The immortals tell her the humans became murder instruments. She helps them maintain the barrier so they can relax a little bit and they altogether stop the fire and causes damage to the evil spirit whatever that smokey black thing is.

They wonder from where Suzhen got back her energy, she believes it’s because they retrieved her essence. Well I think that’s because she’s pregnant and the deities decided to help her. It would make more sense. Anyways.

Suzhen is going out to look for Xiao Qing with the four immortals. She begs Fahai to spare Xiao Qing and give her another chance. At first she’s happy to see Suzhen, but when she learns that she knew who the four immortals were, she’s angry again. So one of them decides to tell her the whole story. So basically, the Dragon King fell in love with Xiao Qing’s mother, but when she got pregnant, he was afraid of the punishment for having a relationship with a snake demon. So she kept hiding to give birth to Xiao Qing and after her birth, she kept moving everywhere so they wouldn’t be found. But she was found at last and she didn’t want to say with whom she had an affair and was willing to take all the blame. So they confined her under Leifeng pagoda. Oh. So they switched that from the original tale. Usually, the White Snake is trapped underneath and she gets released by the green snake. In some version, it’s because her son his so filial that she gets free. Interesting.

Well, Fahai wants to suppress Xiao Qing’s demon blood, but she doesn’t want to. She would rather die than to lose her mother’s blood. Also, Suzhen says that even so, she won’t be able to go back to the immortal realm, because her dad won’t recognize her as his daughter, he didn’t even want to give ten drops of blood to let her live her love. Since they won’t let him, Fahai traps Xiao Qing.

Why is he so obsessed with her immortal blood? Why can’t she be a demon anyways? Like you see, some demons are nicer than immortals.

Legend of the White Snake - Episode 8

Jing Song, trying to put oil on the fire on purpose, poor Xu Xian, being framed like this, when he never thought of Ruyi that way and only thinks of Suzhen. Oh no poor Xu Xian. When he asks if there’s nothing to keep her in Ling’An she says  that they would part way is the natural course of things. He doesn’t know about his brother in law helping his master acting to please Ruyi and that thus she would answer like this, so he believes she’s not into him. This is so heartbreaking. She says she will never come back... He’s so sad, but still keeps a calm face and gives her back her umbrella. She doesn’t want it back, since it’s still raining, but he insists and tells her to stay safe. That guy TT He breaks my heart.

Then as Suzhen gets back on the boat, Qing Er notices that there are words graved on the umbrella. Qing Er. Can I marry you? Xu Xian engraved this, and basically, it’s a kind of riddle in which he tells her he likes her. As she reads it, Suzhen leaves the boat. Jing Song drinks his tea angrily.

This is so cute, I am crying. On the bridge that crosses the West lake Xu Xian stays in the rain and while his eyes are closed, somebody comes close with an umbrella and covers him from the rain.

But just a minute. I just realized now. How come there is already the West Lake? West Lake is something that happened after they get married, I mean in the original legend Suzhen fights with Fahai and ends up flooding villages which creates Xihu. I am confused right now! But, I am not going to ruin the moment with those thoughts.

Naturally, it’s Suzhen and they look so happy. He hugs her awwww. So cute. He asks her how she’s not worried about leaving, she says tomorrow there’s still a boat. He says he’ll go with her. She says no need to send her off, but he means that he will leave with her. He just want to be with her, to take her of her. He can promise that she will always have clothes to wear, food to eat. He’s so sweet. She asks about his engagement and he tells her he never was engaged to anyone and the only person he wants to be with is her. Why are you making me crying so much. He’s basically asking her to marry him. How cute.

Oh no Qing Er. You are always perfect and I always want to see you but you know what? I didn’t want you to come out right now TT You broke the moment. Anyways, he invites them to come to his place for desert and Qing Er agrees right away. However, Suzhen tells her about the dagger that Li Gongfu holds onto and they decide to go back home. Xu Xian is going to take them home. Then he calls her Suzhen which makes Qing Er confused. Anyways, Suzhen wants to send him back home and seeing that they are looking to send each other home,  so Qing Er just decides to invite him to spend the night. He first wants to refuse because Qing Er told him earlier that the rules of the Bai family are really strict, but Suzhen convinces him to stay. Anyways, she doesn’t want to part with him.

Qing Er underlings gave cold water to Xu Xian for his bath and thus prepared ginger soup for him. I am jealous. Ginger soup is the best, especially when you are sick. As he sees that Suzhen’s hand is cold, he wants to make her drink it, but since he has a cold, she still wants him to drink it. Well, if she doesn’t drink it, he won’t drink it either. So she drinks half of it and hands the bowl back to him. He looks so flustered, how cute. I would pinch his little cheeks. Poor Suzhen, she doesn’t understand why he would be se red, she fears he caught a fever. I love how naive she is.

So Kexin, the nine-tail-fox, tries to kill Li Gongfu but he’s a really lucky guy I believe. He first avoids it by chance and right after the dagger chases after her and she finds refuge in Suzhen’s residence. That ugly girl knocks on Xu Xian’s door. I feel new misunderstandings coming our way... Why ): They just made up...

Yikes. When he wants to go tell the officers she was chased by bandits in the mountain, she won’t let him go, pretending she’s afraid. She tries to come closer to him and even offers to sleep with him. But he moves quickly away. Go Xu Xian. Don’t let her trick you. YAY! Xu Xian <3 I knew you are to smart to be tricked. He doesn’t believe in her tale and knows the door was locked. So as he was about to get out, she tries to hurt him but unfortunately for her, Suzhen was just coming right in and she uses her magic to repel her. Suzhen runs after her and she won’t let Xu Xian. By the way... since when does he have a sword? I have never seen him having one hanging at his hips? I am really confused right now ._____.

Anyways, they end up not being able to catch that fox lady, but they will meet again for sure since now she has eyes on Suzhen’s core and wants to eat it to gain more power. Jing Song is really unhappy that Suzhen leaves everything behind for this man that can’t protect her, but she says that as long as he has that goal in mind, she’s satisfied.

He’s worried that she was scared and she pretends that she is a little bit. Awww. He offers to keep her company until the day is bright, then it will be less scary.

Next morning, Ruyi is waiting for Xu Xian at the pharmacy and right as he comes in, Li gongfu comes to bring him some dry clothes. He then takes him apart and asks him if he likes Suzhen and if it is the case, he and his sister will take the procedures so they can get married. Ooops. They are not far away enough and Ruyi hears everything. She’s very displeased. She keeps on trying to interfere between the two of them, but she won’t have her ways.

We learn a little bit about Xu Xian’s past. When he was younger, his father was wrongly accused so his mom forced him into becoming a doctor so he won’t follow the traces of his father and will keep on living. Ruyi’s father then see the two of them holding hands and gets angry because they are not working but then somebody calls for a doctor. When he wants to treat her, they ask for the female doctor and Suzhen comes in and see the lady. To thank her for bringing her back to health, she gives her some precious gifts. Suzhen wants to refuse at first, but then mister Jin takes it in. He’s a really greedy man and now that he sees that having Suzhen around can bring more fortune to his business, he doesn’t care about what Ruyi told him and wishes for her to come more often.

Ugly fox lady leaves a note for Suzhen to go see the moon together on the bridge. Jing Song is sure some demon got inside Suzhen’s room but Qing Er says it’s only Xu Xian inviting Suzhen on a date. Then that fox lady takes Xu Xian’s appearance to court Ruyi. It’s so obvious it’s not him. Praise the actor though for his acting skills ** I love this guy.

And I wish for people to stop meddling in their love story.

Legend of the White Snake - Episode 21

Suzhen used her own blood to make a medication for Xu Xian as he still has inside of him her core. She however asks Xiao Qing to deliver it for her, so he won’t hurt while seeing her. Xiao Qing is so hurt seeing Suzhen in that state. At first she didn’t want to help because she doesn’t want to be like Ruyi. She only agrees on the condition Suzhen doesn’t use her blood ever again.

When Xiao Qing sends the medicine, Xu Xian and Ruyi are guessing riddles. Of course, Xiao Qing being Xiao Qing, she gets a little angry when he asks why Suzhen is so cold and she leaves. But then, Suzhen was by the door and heard everything. I think he saw her too as he tries to stand up, but Ruyi won’t let him. Suzhen leaves in a hurry. Poor her. She’s in such pain. Xu Xian wanted to ask Xiao Qing more about Suzhen. Aww. Even though it hurts him, he still wants to know.

At night, he sees her in the garden with a lantern and asks her if she’s also getting ready for the mid autumn festival and he gets a flashback of the past which hurts him so bad and he screams so loudly that everybody comes. Jiaorong tries to push away Suzhen and take Xu Xian back to his room, but he won’t agree. Is he? I’m so nervous right now. I don’t want to press back that play button. He asks her who is she and then coughs blood. The poison that Ruyi is giving him is strong, but she won’t let Xiao Qing know about it.

Li Gongfu. You’re the best. Jiaorong wakes him up in the middle of the night because she’s worried about those three and the fact that Xu Xian doesn’t remember at all Suzhen. But hubby is like why are you talking about Ruyi? she has nothing to do with that. If Xu Xian woke up, it’s only thanks to Suzhen. At least one person isn’t fooled in this house. Thank god.

Next morning, Jiaorong asks Suzhen to go in hiding so Xu Xian won’t see her. Then she agrees... Poor girl. Gongfu is really unhappy with his wife for kicking out Suzhen. And Ruyi uses the moment to make Jiaorong like her more by saying that if she was Suzhen, she would rather not show herself to him so he wouldn’t get any stimilus. Wow. Poor poor Suzhen. They all mistake her, every time she met with Xu Xian, it wasn’t her fault. Awww. Gongfu. He wants to kick out Ruyi. But I don’t believe he will be able to, even what he says makes sense. Ruyi is like “I don’t care about what the people say, I want to take care of Xu Xian brother anyways”. She begs big sis to be able to stay. Big Sis even now regrets that Xu Xian married Suzhen instead of Ruyi. Poor Suzhen. She has to hear all of this when she sacrificed so much to bring back Xu Xian and Ruyi is the one that killed him.

Suzhen is thinking about leaving Xu Xian into Ruyi’s care, but Xiao Qing asks her, if it was the opposite, would she want Xu Xian to leave her for her own good?

Xu Xian is dreaming of when he died, he tells Suzhen to run away from the snake.

I am crying so much. Suzhen decides to lave in the end so he won’t suffer anymore. She blames herself for everything that happened. She gives Jiaorong the letter just right after the doctor came in and Jiaorong thinks she wants to leave because of Xu Xian’s condition, but Suzhen has really no idea. Poor girl. Poor poor girl.

Li Gongfu. Li Gongfu. Thank you for existing. He’s really unhappy about Suzhen leaving. Gongfu tries to convince her that it’s a misunderstanding, that Suzhen isn’t that kind of person. Gongfu tries to convince Suzhen to stay, but Jiaorong pushes her out almost, giving her money. Suzhen doesn’t want it but has to take it anyways.

Then Ruyi begs Jiaorong to let her marry Xu Xian so she can take care of him. Wow. I hate her haha. She’s disgusting. She’s the one who hurt him so bad. And Jiaorong even agrees. She still even has the guts to blame Suzhen for him being hurt so much.

Gongfu is so mad at Jiaorong for agreeing to marry Ruyi to Xu Xian. But then she gave him the antidote so he wakes up which ends the quarrel. When they give him the food, he gets flashbacks again which makes his head hurt. You know what? He loved her so much that he can’t help himself but to remember.

Xiao Qing is getting upset seeing Suzhen in this state so she decides she’s not going to let Ruyi get away with it.

When Jiaorong tells Xu Xian to get married to Ruyi, he strongly opposes, he doesn’t like her plus he already has a wife. But then she tells him she left. He looks so hurt. Poor baby. All because of that Ruyi. Then they hear Ruyi yelling because Xiao Qing is trying to kill her. Then she tells Xiao Qing that Xu Xian is going to marry her which makes her even more mad, so she tries to kill Xu Xian for hurting so much Suzhen. Fahai then comes in and pulls Xiao Qing away from Xu Xian. Xu Xian leaves in a hurry, he doesn’t want Suzhen to think he’s going to get married with Ruyi because of what she said.

Fahai takes Xiao Qing to Jinshan temple. He wants her to copy the books of rites. She’s stuck inside until she finishes copying ten books.

Xu Xian is looking for Suzhen all around in the city, but she’s not there. But. Oh. Oh! He. He finds her right where they met the first time he was looking for her. Or is it just Suzhen thinking about the past? But she’s not wearing the right clothes. Let’s see. Okay, he really did find her. She tells him not to try to remember if it hurts him, but even though he’s getting headaches, he keeps on asking about them. Oh my gosh. He’s. He’s the perfect hubby. He doesn’t care about the memories of the past, they can still make new memories together in the future. Come on. That guy is perfection. (and too unreal to be true). But she refuses and leaves. I guess she can’t stand seeing him in such pain and is afraid that he ever knew he was married to a snake.

Can we not? Can we go back to some happiness? This is killing me now and I can’t bear it anymore.  Those two break my heart.

Legend of the White Snake - Episode 17

Ruyi is so happy that Xu Xian bought her the desert she likes. He tries to talk about how he hopes she doesn’t marry somebody without moral like that Wang Daoling, as her big brother he hopes the best for her. However that makes her angry, she believes he has not his say in this. So Xu Xian leaves, seeing it’s useless and hearing a woman crying to save her son. The price of the medicine got higher and she can’t afford it. Right then, Suzhen comes right in with her medicine, which is free, and save that little boy.

Oh look, Fahai is back again. Just when people rushes to Baohe tang. Fahai is so confused about Suzhen. Why a demon would try so hard to help humans?

Some people go to Jishi tang because the medicine is actually just flour and they have to give back the money. Wang Daoling goes and checks on his medicine only to realize it was replaced by flour. So he goes to get a free one from Baohe tang and yep, that’s his medicine. He’s going to try and take revenge.

They almost used up all the medicine and Suzhen finally tells Xu Xian she was also doubting that Wang Daoling so she followed him and found the antidote. He scolds her a little, because they should discuss that kind of things together and also her technique isn’t stopping Wang Daoling from poisoning the people. So they have to find a way and they invent a new medicine. Well it’s fake like. Anyways, he got trapped.

Late at night, when he’s about to put more poison in the well, he gets arrested by Li Gongfu for poisoning the people, but he escapes using his spiritual energy powers. Suzhen and Qing Er hurts him, but he had a core in reserve so he healed faster. And he’s really mad.

The people are mad and they try to get back at Jishi tang because of what Wang Daoling did. Well, Ruyi didn’t know he was poisoning the well. Xu Xian runs to save her, with Suzhen.  But then she’s mad again, she blames everything on Suzhen and when Xu Xian realizes he can’t put some sense into, he just leaves and takes Suzhen with him. Then Ruyi threatens to kill herself and while saving her, Xu Xian hurt himself. She tries to give him medicine for his injury, but Suzhen declines and they leave her behind.

Suzhen is so angry about what happened and she doesn’t want Xu Xian to go try to persuade Ruyi again, what if she hurts him for real next time. Xu Xian is surprised to see so angry, since she’s a living bodhisattva but Suzhen tells him that she didn’t do anything because there were people to watch and that’s the only time she will spare her from doing something like that. Awww. Suzhen is so protective of her hubby. Nobody hurts my Xu Xian.

Frog guy rescued Ruyi when she fainted in the rain and brought her to his den. This is not good. But it’s kind of cute how much he tries to get her to like him.

Yutang comes back to give medicine to Xu Xian, he even got some herbs for Qing Er. No more snakes since she fears them. Xiao Qing is just me? Afraid of snakes? Since when? hahaha. She’s about to say that she’s a snake but Suzhen interrupts by having a look at the medicine and praises it. When it comes to payment, they argue a little bit, like happily, and Xiao Qing ends up pushing Yutang and he has not much energy. It’s because he has a heatstroke. She wants to make him some medicine but he says, it’s fine, he just needs to sleep and rather points out that everybody is having that problem and not making enough money to afford the medicine. Especially the old people.

Ruyi followed Wang Daoling and discovers that he’s a demon. She then screams out of fear which alerts him of her presence. Poor little frog guy. She’s so scared of him and she threatens to stab him with her hairpin. He’s in love with her since he first saw her. If it could help her feel better, he’s letting her stab him, but in the end, she doesn’t do it. So basically, he’s the same as Jin Song? Sent back to the mortal realm, but used to be an immortal? To prove it, he says he’ll take her somewhere.

Suzhen and Xu Xian fight again, but you know... Xu Xian is so good at making his little wife happy. She wanted to give medicine for free, but it’s a little more complicated than that. If they do so, they will irritate all the other doctors’ office, plus they won’t be able to survive without the money. So he suggests that a few days they have a small clinic and give free advices to the people how to fight against the diseases. Suzhen is then happy.

Xiao Qing seeing them is quite happy that she has no interest in those human behaviours. But then her eyes meet Yutang’s eyes huhuhu. Is she really not interested?

It’s late. I am having breakfast tomorrow morning with my grandad, my aunt and my cousin... I should probably go to bed, but I am afraid that if I do, my computer will die again on me and I want to keep watching haha. Help. Please.

Legend of the White Snake -Episode 16

Hahaha, when he tries to give her the medicine, Qing Er goes wild she’s like get out with your garbage. Poor Zhang Yutang, he has no idea. Xu Xian goes to have a look and thinks the medicine is good quality, but Qing Er won’t let him buy, thus Yutang leaves angry. Qing Er is angry too an follows him to prevent him from hunting anymore. She invokes some fog and he chases a green snake, but in the fog, he falls down a cliff. Then Qing Er saves him. Well, she doesn’t like him that much it seems. I believe that would be the cliff Ruyi fell down from hmmm.

So made up and he even gives her a piggy back. Would that be Qing Er’s first love? I mean, after Suzhen, because she’s definitely in love with Suzhen too. Anyways, he does kind of like her too, because she’s not like all of the other ladies. Of course. She wanted to be a boy. She took a girl’s form only to stay with Suzhen.

What? Why is frog guy putting something in the well in the middle of the night? This is like... so random?

Awww Xu Xian is getting jealous. Basically, some ladies came in pushing and pretending they had a problem to see Xu Xian the cute doctor, but to drive them away, he said that girl patients should consult with his wife instead. When they are gone, he asks Suzhen to work with him and she worries that if she comes in people will stop coming, but he’s not worried, people were eager to consult with her back at Jishi tang. Then, she says that he should  take care of the girls and she takes care of the boys so everyone’s happy. Then he says, everyone except me hahaha. Sorry, I am not sharing my wife with anyone else.

So an epidemic diseases starts to kill people in town, even one of the doctors catches it. There’s no medicine able to heal it. Jishi tang says they have it, but it’s really expensive. Okay. So basically, what is probably happening is that frog dude poisoned the well with is demon poison. And he’s the only one to be able to cure it. And with that he’s going to make money for Ruyi and a name for himself.

Most people can’t afford the medicine, but Xu Xian didn’t know and is surprised to that some people are not going when he learns they really have the medicine for it. He is really surprised to see that Ruyi would allow something like that so he decides to go and convince her to sell the medicine at a reasonable price. She won’t budge a notch, unless he gets rid of Suzhen. That girl. She’s making it harder and harder for me to at least pity her. I mean, she didn’t have mom and her dad spoiled her because he felt bad for her about that, plus he was a man that lover money. But wow. You’re willing to let a whole town die just to break a couple because it happens you like the husband? I am sorry. That’s asking a little bit too much from me.

NO. WHAT? I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THAT. That ugly frog dude. He poisoned Xu Xian. Wow. Suzhen, when the little boy’s mom was sick, you knew right away it was the poison from a demon, why can’t you feel it now? She’s going to ask Ruyi for the medicine now... of course she’s going to try and tear them apart TT

Ok. She redeemed herself a little bit in my eyes. She is just heartbroken. As soon as Ruyi hears that Xu Xian is sick, she gives all the medicine that is left to Suzhen. Suzhen thanks her and she’s wondering to herself, since when as it come to a point that between her and Xu Xian, they should be thanking each other. Just to put into context, in Chinese culture saying thank you shows that you are not that close with somebody, like you have to be moderate with how you say it if you are close to each other? And especially between family members. Even though Xu Xian doesn’t think of Ruyi in that special way, they grew up together like brother and sister, that Suzhen would thank her like that excludes Ruyi from Xu Xian’s family somehow. Not in a mean way, it’s just like.. a feeling. It’s complicated to explain. But basically, Ruyi and Xu Xian are drifting away from each another and that bond that they shared might be broken forever.

Suzhen rushes back home to feed Xu Xian with the medicine. And the first thing I am thinking is: did she even check what’s in it? Nobody knows where that Wang Lingdao comes from, I wouldn’t want to feed my husband something bad. Well, I don’t understand a thing about medicine, but if I did, I would check thoroughly. And I bet she didn’t check because... IT’S DEMON’S POISON! And I know she can recognize that. Or maybe it worked with Qing Er because they are both snakes? I hope it’s that, because otherwise, I’m starting to think it doesn’t make sens AT ALL.

Xu Xian is saved. And he’s so smart. Excellent, Suzhen isn’t too dumb. She didn’t know what was inside the medicine so she didn’t want to give him too much. Xu Xian takes a look at what’s left and is thinking it’s impossible for medicine to act so fast. It looks more like... anti-poison. That’s what I have been saying since the beginning. He notices that it’s probably not made with herbs, but rather with stones? Like, boiling the stones? It’s probably something more complicated than that, but as I said already many times I know nothing about medicine, and especially Chinese medicine and for all that I know, they might just say whatever and any doctors watching this would be pointing everything that is wrong. But I feel they keep it very general and don’t really go into detail about the diseases.

Now that Xu Xian determined that it’s poison, I hope Suzhen finally notice that there’s a demon involved. Xu Xian is also wondering, if it’s poisoning, how come Jishi tang happens to have the antidote. It’s a little bit too much just to be a coincidence, right?

Suzhen decides to investigate and she follows Wang Daoling. With Qing Er, she notices that he put something in the well. Oh finally. Since she doesn’t have her core anymore, that’s why she can’t see his real form. And Qing Er is too young to have that ability yet. Jing Song, that would be the perfect moment for you to come out and redeem yourself. And I kind of miss you, so come back soon.

Okay, so they get into the frog’s den and steal all of the antipoison. But they have to make sure he doesn’t notice so they can catch him. While they prepare to save everybody, Xu Xian wants to go again and see Ruyi to convince her to stop what she’s doing. If that Wang Daoling took good of Ruyi, it would make Xu Xian at ease, but now that he uses such ways, he can’t bear to see Jishi tang in the hands of such a man and feels like as a big brother he should help Ruyi keep off going the wrong road. Qing Er is really mad that Xu Xian would go and see Ruyi and is about to tell him how Ruyi treats Suzhen, but Suzhen won’t let her, because she doesn’t want Xu Xian to be caught in between two people he holds dear. Such a good wifey.

Legend of the White Snake - Episode 14

Wow. Three weeks have gone by real fast. Is February already almost over? What? So my computer decided to revive yay! I really didn’t want to watch the rest of the show without doing my reviews, because I don’t like leaving things unattended too and I don’t know. I like to write those recap on the spot, without knowing what is going to happen next. Let’s pray that my computer will still work until at least when I am done with this drama. Which I hope would be this week since I have 7 days off!

So where were we? Yes, Suzhen and Xu Xian are getting ready to be married and Ruyi finally came back with some strange man with her. Frog guy. His eyes are scaring me. So anyways, Xu Xian was worried about her, but she plays independent now that she has a new guy to take care of her. Xu Xian asks her about who is that weirdo, his name is Daoling and since Xu Xian doesn’t want to take of her, well he is. And I would say, he’s crazy go along with her, his misery is just starting. Even more now that Xu Xian just tells her that he’s relieved she found someone to take good care of her and invites her to come to his wedding with Suzhen. She’s so upset about it. So she’s like, please come too to my wedding with Daoling, I am planning to give him Jishi tang. She’s so desperate to make him jealous, but he’s so not. So he says okay, I will give you back the account books and resign from my work too. And she gets mad and accuses Suzhen of forcing him to cut ties, but wow. That Xu Xian though. So patient with her and just asks of her not to ill talk of Suzhen.

Woops. Ruyi now made Frog guy angry. She tells him he’s too ugly for her to actually get married to him, he’s no match for Xu Xian and she only said they will get married to make him angry. Poor guy. Run away from that girl, she’s no good for you. No matter how nice you would be to her, she’s obsessed with Xu Xian.

Awwww. They are so cute at the wedding. Big sis and big bro are so happy too. Only Ruyi is crying. But she did smile a little too though. Is it just me or Chinese wedding clothes, traditional ones I mean, are so beautiful.

Awwwww. Xu Xian is so cute. He just stares at her because he’s afraid she would disappear, that he’s just dreaming. Xu Xian is annoyingly naive at some point, but. I would marry a guy like that whenever. AWWWW. SO SHE STANDS UP AND KISSES HIM ON THE CHEEK TO WAKE HIM UP FROM THE DREAM. The look in his eyes. They are just way too cute.

So Qing Er and the guys are a little drunk and she asks what it is to.. hm... how to translate that accurately? 成亲 (chéngqīn) is used when people are getting married, but it means more than just the wedding in itself. It’s like... becoming family? But it can only be used between spouses, you can’t say that about like... your parents get married again and their partner has kids, those new siblings, it’s not 成亲 (chéngqīn). I don’t know if clear? I didn’t check the translation for the subtitles, but I think it’s important to understand that because otherwise the next dialogue isn’t as funny. So since none of them were wed in the past, they all don’t really know. So one of them says it’s about sharing a bedroom, so another then asks are they not all in that situation then, since they all share a room since such a long time? Hahaha. So they debate a little about that, and it’s pretty funny. Then Qing Er suggest they all go find themselves a partner, because it looks fun. So pure haha.

Awww. Poor Jing Song. I still like him. He’s so sad.

Fahai’s master is a little sick, but he says there’s nothing to worry and asks him if he found anything during his stay in town. Fahai is starting to have doubts about Suzhen. Is she still a demon now that she doesn’t have core anymore and give it to Xu Xian to fight the poison killing him and now that Xu Xian has that core, is he still a human. So his master tells, to make the difference between man and demon, you should use your heart. Awww. 

Wow. Suzhen is already really comfortable in her new house. She threw away to burn all the old furniture to replace it with new ones. Poor Jiaorong. But forgive her, she means well and she doesn’t know about the ways of humans. Aww poor sis, she’s so upset, but at least, I believe her little brother is really good at making her happy.

Suzhen studies the way normal people earn and spend money. I guess she understands why you can’t just throw away things like that and change them for new ones. Just then, Xu Xian comes back gives his salary to Suzhen and Qing Er is already ready to spend it all. Suzhen tells no, she just told her about the value of money and Xu Xian tells her he earns it for her to spend it. But then, he pretends he has to go back to the pharmacy... But hasn’t her resigned? I hope he won’t overwork himself to provide for a lot of money for his wife. I mean, she’s a snake, she can live with not a lot easily. Poor him. But since he left in such a hurry, she didn’t have the time to give him a lunchbox, so she decides to hurry and send it to him at Jishi tang. Yep. Of course they are kicked out and Ruyi tells them Xu Xian doesn’t work there anymore.

Suzhen feels bad because she knows his relationship with Ruyi became like this because of her and while Qing Er is angry at Xu Xian for not saying it, Suzhen just knows he pretended like nothing happened not to worry her and make her sad. Those two TT. They finally find him, going inside a pharmacy to look for work, but then... he won’t be hired. And nobody will because he was a student at Jishi tang for so many years, that if they hire him, it would hurt the affairs of Jishi tang and it’s like bullying Ruyi. Because she’s just a girl taking care of it by herself. Qing Er wants to teach a lesson to Ruyi, but Suzhen stops her from doing so, because she knows Xu Xian won’t want to hurt her since they grew up together.

invisible, Suzhen and Qing Er stayed in, but actually... it’s not because of what the man said that Xu Xian can’t get a job. He actually wanted him, but the big boss said no and he managed to make sure that nobody will hire him. So sad. Basically, he wants him to have nowhere to go so later he can bring him in as his benefactor. Which would be so bad for him. Qing Er still takes revenge by sending mosquitos at him.

Later that night, Suzhen goes and meet with him, she lets him know she went to send him a night lunch at Jishi tang but then learnt that he’s not working there. He wants to apologize for hiding it from her, but she says it’s okay and just asks him to have a walk with her to look around the city. He wants to buy her some stuff to make her happy, but she says she doesn’t want anything because she doesn’t want to burden him. That’s something I like a lot about those two. They understand each other very well, Suzhen especially understands Xu Xian, and they take such good care of each other. So he pretends he forgot his money pouch to get something for her, I am sure. How cute.

He feels bad for not buying anything, since she comes from a rich family, but she says she’d rather be with him than anything else. Oh yes he did buy her something TT Because she’s so nice that spending a thousand gold for her would never be enough. They... I... I just can’t. They are way too adorable.

Awwww. She likes the pin so much, she keeps looking at it. Qing Er teases her about how cheesy she is with Xu Xian and they are about to use magic to fight, but then Suzhen is like. NOOOOO. THIS VASE! We shouldn’t break objects. Was about time you know about it. Well that’s because it’s old. Then they think of the stuff at Suzhen’s place and they make it old again, because now they know old stuff has more value than new ones and if they sell them, they can help Xu Xian.

Ruyi bumps into Xu Xian while he is rejected again for work and hopes he regrets his choice, but he says he doesn’t. It’s okay she hates him, but he wishes her to be happy, because resentment is not worth anything and will prevent them from stepping in their new life. Ruyi is upset that he’s willing to be poor just to be with Suzhen. And she tells him that Suzhen is selling the stuff she owns to help him. So he runs to it. Oh god. Poor him. Suzhen doesn’t understand that... even though she means well, Chinese guys have to preserve face. Like, having his wife making money for him, that’s losing face. So he runs to go to Suzhen. About that one, Ruyi’s right: she understands him better than Suzhen. But just on that matter.

Xu Xian tells Suzhen to get everything back. He feels already bad enough that she has to go through all of this because of him, but he doesn’t want her to use her family’s money. She doesn’t want to take the things back, because she doesn’t care about them, but he takes the money pouch and goes to take everything back.

First quarrel as husband and wife. Suzhen is pouting so much haha. She’s probably thinking “why won’t you accept my help, I am just doing my best too because I want to share all of your burdens” while he’s thinking “I want you to live carefree and I want to take care of you so won’t have a worry in your life”. Poor Suzhen, she’s sad that he doesn’t want her money because she thinks he sees them separately. Since he won’t accept her money, she want’s to throw away the hairpin he gave her. She’s so petty somehow. I love that they don’t portray Suzhen as a perfect deity or something like that. It’s nice that she has a bad character too sometimes.

Then, an old couple comes by. The lady is blind and her husband is taking her on a boat cruise on West Lake because even though it’s expensive and she can’t, she just wants to be on the lake and breath fresh air. Suzhen helps her get on the boat, as she almost fell down and the boat driver (how do you call that haha) asks her if she wants to take the boat too. She agrees and right then Xu Xian comes and says he wants to ride the boat with her too. She’s still a little angry, but I believe in Xu Xian’s ability to make her happy. He’s a smooth talker. On the boat, the old couple talks about how she saved money to take a ride on the boat and the lady is surprised that her husband even knew.

Xu Xian tells Suzhen he wasn’t angry at her, and like I said earlier, he just wants her to live without any burden. It’s not because he wants to keep separate count of what’s his and what’s hers. Finally, they make up, thanks to that old lady. What a nice comparison though. No matter what weather, West Lake is always a scenery. No matter what happens between a couple, happiness, sadness, it’s still coming in a package to make something beautiful. And it’s so true. No matter if it rains or if it’s a clear, West Lake is ALWAYS beautiful. I really recommend everyone to go have walk by the West Lake at least once in their life. If possible, in july, when the lotus flowers are blooming. You will never see something more gorgeous.

Qing Er finds a way to make money too so she can eat meat before she becomes a vegetable. So she decides to earn the money by performing. They try to hide it from Suzhen and Xu Xian. But then, Ruyi comes out and it comes down to nothing because she makes into a liar and everybody wants their money back. Just right then, Suzhen and Xu Xian comes in. And Suzhen calls Qing Er’s name. That’s going to be a mess. Poor Xu Xian and Suzhen.

They just made up from their first couple fight and that happens. But I can’t really blame Qing Er. She didn’t mean harm, but she should have listened and not try to earn money by using dishonest means. And I am really thinking, that poor Xu Xian. Not losing face is so important for a man in China... With all of this, it looks like he’s unable to provide for his wife ): And like, don’t think of getting married if you can’t provide for your wife.

I hope everything ends up well. Without them needing to move out of town haha. Just open your own practice already. You’ll make plenty of money, everybody wants to be treated by you.

Legend of the White Snake - Episode 32

I was so stressed out that I didn’t include the rest of the episode in my last recap. Well, it’s just barely two minutes in which we see Xu Xian coming back with Fahai and Suzhen lying down hurt.

Which is where the new episode starts. Suzhen rushes to Jiaorong and pushes Xu Xian away. But then Fahai hits her with his staff and she goes back to her real form. I hope she could at least save Jiaorong and the baby ;^;

Xiao Qing took Suzhen back to the Nuwa temple. Xu Xian comes to see her, but Xiao Qing won’t let him, the only reason she doesn’t kill him is because she doesn’t want Suzhen to hate her. Okay. But are Jiaorong and the baby okay? I don’t want Suzhen to have sacrificed everything for nothing. Xiao Qing kicks him out and puts on a barrier so he can’t get anywhere near Suzhen. And it rains again. Because Hangzhou. Xu Xian likes to wait for Suzhen in the rain. Oh wait what? He just leaves like that? He could have waited a little longer. His wife is in that state because he didn’t believe in her. He regrets. WELL I HOPE YOU DO. Xu Xian. You disappointed me.

Okay, the baby is safe and Fahai confirms that Suzhen actually saved him. Then they realizes that she lost all of her spiritual energy, which isn’t supposed to happen, the pill Fahai gave him was only supposed to confine it. Xiao Qing is so mad she wants to take Suzhen’s core from Xu Xian but Fahai stops her. Xu Xian is willing to die to bring back Suzhen. But then Gongfu tells them to stop fighting and begs Fahai to save Suzhen. But Fahai can’t help. So Xiao Qing took away Suzhen. I am so heart broken TT What will happen to Suzhen and Xu Xian’s baby now TT

At least, this is all less stressful now. You have no idea how that previous episode made me unwell, it gave me a fever and I was dizzy.

Xu Xian remembers his happy memories with Suzhen. Poor them though.

This is so sad. Jiaorong doesn’t remember much of the past months and she’s looking for Suzhen. However, Xu Xian and Gongfu don’t tell her what happened. Where is  that ugly Ruyi now? I am worried she and that Wang Daoling are going to try something against Xiao Qing while Suzhen is that weak. I’m not sure if Xiao Qing is a match for him. Unless the four immortals that protects her help?

Xu Xian goes to see Fahai because he believes that somebody did something to the alcohol Xu Xian used to trap Suzhen. Ruyi of course would have done that. Xu Xian is extremely angry and breaks the piece of the cup until his hands bleed.

HAHAHAHA. YAS XU XIAN. I clapped. I don’t like seeing people being hurt, but I clapped so loudly my hands hurts. He put something into Ruyi’s drink which makes her feel extreme pain.  She’s going on and on about how she did that because she loves him. And he’s like hahaha, you have no idea what that word means, don’t even use it. She tries to use her father again, since he was his teacher, but then he says he will give her the medicine but after that, there is nothing left between of them and he payed back everything he owed to his teacher. And then he asks forgiveness to Suzhen because he can’t even take revenge for her. Poor baby. I forgive you for what you did. I can’t really hate that guy.

Well all off this makes Ruyi even more angry. Not good. Girl, stop fooling yourself. He doesn’t like, you are not made for each other. It’s been like... 32 episodes, it’s about time you wake up. I mean, his wife is a demon and he still loves her like a mad man. What do you need else as a proof that he has no interest in you? Oh wow. Now the inner demon is getting close to Ruyi and tells her that everything happened because Suzhen dressed like her at the lantern festival. Wow. No from the beginning Ruyi was only a sister and he wouldn’t see in any other way. Plus Ruyi’s father would never have his daughter getting married to Xu Xian. He likes the boy, but he’s poor and he likes money more. Anyways, Ruyi lets the inner demon take over. Now I hope that Wang Daoling and Ruyi dies together. Like, I wish that Wang Daoling tries to save Ruyi from the inner demon and doing so he dies heroically. I don’t like the dude, but that would be a nice ending for him.

Oh wow. Wang Daoling finally manages to get married to Ruyi hahaha. Wow. She’s in some sort of illusion in which she believes he’s Xu Xian. She even saw her dad.

Jiaorong asks again about Suzhen. She thinks it’s weird that she left with all her belongings. So Xu Xian finally tells her that Suzhen and Xiao Qing and demons. But nice ones. Gongfu agrees that Suzhen is a good person. They are all so sad. She wonders where they are now still, she seems like she doesn’t fear them. So Xu Xian tells him that to save her, Suzhen lost her “fundamental essence of life” according to pleco. I don’t know how to translate this properly.

Xiao Qing promises to find back Suzhen’s life essence.

Jiaorong keeps on thinking how Suzhen is a demon. Gongfu tells him there’s nothing to think about it, no matter what, she saved this family so many times. She wonders how come Ruyi could be so evil, when she always was so nice to her, took her in when she was at lost and everything.

Ruyi wakes up and realizes everything was a dream. Only in her dreams would Xu Xian be nice to her. Duh. You like kind of... erm... destroyed his wife? Of course he wouldn’t be too nice with. You’re lucky enough he didn’t let you feel the pain so long and gave you the antidote really quickly. That is nothing to how much pain he and Suzhen are going through. And Xiao Qing and Gongfu and even Jiaorong. The inner demon convinces her to make sure Bai Suzhen never comes back. Well easy, that’s really what she wants. At this point though, I must say, Yu Lang does a really good acting job.

Xu Xian dreams of his past life it seems. While grabbing some herbs on mount Emei, he meets a white snake who gives him a plant and he names that plant based on the White Snake. Later, somebody is about to kill the snake to make medicine. But past Xu Xian comes in and offers to heal that person and as a payment, he wants the snake. But then the snake disappear and he wakes up.

Fahai explains to him that would be his past life and explain their fate together since he saved her once in the past. So now their fate has been repaid. But Xu Xian won’t give up bringing her back. He’s willing to give her back the core, even if he dies. But Fahai says it’s not he doesn’t want to help her, but even if they give her back her core, since her essence dispersed, it will probably be of no use. No matter what, he would rather die than stay alive without her. So Fahai accepts to help with his might.

Xiao Qing is desperate to bring Suzhen back, even to the point that she’s injuring herself in preserving her alive. So she’s going to hurt people to get back her cultivation and save Suzhen oh no. Please underlings, stop her and save her. She gets caught by Fahai and they plead to spare her, but she’s about to kill people without reason. Then he accepts to spare her because they are actually immortals, even though their cultivation level isn’t that high she shouldn’t disrespect them. Thus she learns they are not demons. So they tell her that she’s the daughter of the dragon king. She gets angry and can’t trust them anymore, so she leaves, very hurt. Then they ask Fahai what else can they do and he says the only way to keep her is to save Suzhen.

But I am not sure I want that. If Xu Xian dies, Suzhen is probably going to kill herself honestly. Anyways Fahai asks them to help him to reunite Suzhen’s essence. I hope everything ends up well... But with even more evil Ruyi in the way... oh god. And I know the ending won’t be satisfying. Now I am scared.

Okay, so they started the process. No matter what, they can’t stop it otherwise, they’ll die. Nice. Well at least, they would be together. And for sure, Ruyi is going to interfere. There’s no way she won’t. Oh god. This is going to be so stressful again. I’m not sure I can handle it. I hope Xiao Qing will come and help TT
