[ HERO ]: sender notices the receiver about to fall from a height, and manages to intervene just in time, catching them before they get hurt. ~@xiindomitable (from Katsuki, incoming lecture in three, two, one- XD)
REASONS TO CARRY SOMEONE. |still accepting|
It was Shoto’s fault, he had been pushing himself a bit too much lately because of his own struggles that they had been dealing with. Struggles that rested on his shoulders like a heavy burden while most of them were tied to his family. It was his fault that he failed to notice as well, but his attention had been trying to improve as those familiar words had a habit of echoing in his head. Words that belonged to Endeavor.
Shoto tended to be a laid-back and quiet person, but it was because of his friends that he was slowly becoming a bit more outgoing. Even though there were situations that often confused him, he was still awkward when it came to social interactions. His childhood was to blame for that. He didn’t have the best one growing up or one that was seen as normal because of the ideals that belonged to his father.
Bakugo and Midoriya were the first two who he grew close to as the rest of their classmates followed, they were like a big chaotic family. One that Shoto was glad to be apart of knowing that he had plenty of people to rely on. People who had his trust. They were a tight knit group after all even though they could be reckless sometimes. They had a habit of finding trouble mainly when Shoto, Bakugo, and Midoriya got involved depending on the situation. Aizawa probably often got tired of dealing with their shenanigans quite often.
A combination of a simple fever and exhaustion caused his downfall this time while dealing with a training exercise. He probably should have said something sooner, but he didn’t want to cause his class or his teachers any concern. A simple fever that caused his world to spin while he was using ice to get to a higher advantage point. That was going to be his mistake. It was during that moment when the world just faded away from him.
Bakugo was the one who caught him before he would have collided with the ground. Bakugo who would have noticed the obvious fever that wafted off of his skin.
A few shakes of his shoulder. A hand resting against the side of his face. His head cushioned against someone’s chest before his mismatched eyes finally flickered open at the sound of his name being called.
“Bakugo...”

Taishiro's making his way over to the birthday boy with a big ol' grin. "Hey, hey, superstar!" He's got a couple cupcakes decorated like game controllers ( definitely the work of his dad ), some new artist gloves and a nice big corgi plush for Tenko to enjoy. "It's your big day, so…I went an' cleared the day for ya! The break room's all yours if ya wanna spend the day there or you can go home an' game to your heart's content! Y'hear me? Happy birthday, Ten!"
Tenko's Birthday ✦ @xiindomitable ✦ Accepting
His birthday. Well, he'd be lying if he didn't still harbor conflicting feelings about it. There was this anxious feeling that almost always crept up on him the closer the day got, regardless of how celebratory everyone else seemed. The messages from Touya, Keigo, his parents. From the several interns at the Agency, even Chisaki wishing him a good day in his own (albeit) clipped and awkward way. Still, Tenko knew the man meant well.
Regardless... thoughts wandered into his head and rooted themselves in. How would his biological family celebrate him with how he was now? With all he'd done (good and bad)? What would-
And jumpscared. Head turned, his body quickly following suit to see... just Taishiro. Oh. Right. His birthday. Too lost in thought, like always. Man, he needed to stop doing that. Gaze immediately zeroed in on the corgi plush, heart admittedly tightening at the sight of it. Well, he just got something new to hold onto when he couldn't sleep instead of that old All Might plushie. The sentiment and reasoning was not lost to him, a smile eventually forming as he returned his gaze to Taishiro. "Thanks. Dunno if I'd call it a 'big day' though. Just... don't make a big deal, okay?"
Wait, what?! Scarlet eyes widened before he hastily said, "You can't be serious. With all that's going on out there? Heroes are needed more than ever, especially rescue heroes! Sure, there's Chisaki with his Quirk, but he's not a rescue hero-" Oh, he's rambling. Head hung, he sighed, one hand running through his ash-gray hair. One day off won't cause the world to fall into peril. Chill.
"Fine. But I'm going out on patrol as soon as the sun's up tomorrow."

Fingers occupied themselves with the drawstrings of his hoodie as he waited, face slightly hidden by the hood itself. He knew Keigo wasn't against team-ups, the man seemingly always willing to make time for Tenko as well. Yet, there was still these nerves. Tenko wasn't exactly... desirable (or at least he thought so) when it came to other heroes requesting to collaborate. Well, other than Miruko, Touya, and members of Chisaki's Agency.
With the amount of Quirk-related incidents and outbursts he'd had over the years, it was a miracle his license hadn't been revoked. As well as the rough patch Keigo and himself went through with Tenko's trust in him being downright corroded. But they'd worked through that (somehow, with how stubborn Tenko was when it came to grudges) and now the winged hero was honestly one of the few people Tenko'd call a friend.
Body tensed upon Keigo's first response, eyes flitting upwards. Oh, of course he'd be surprised! Him just springing that on the other out of nowhere like that! He never should've even entertained the thought ever since it'd entered his head. Who'd wanna team up with a hero with a Quirk like his- Oh.
Grip tightened on the drawstrings as he quickly replied with a step backward, "If- if you don't want-" He was down... he was down. He wanted to team up, be that search-and-rescue team together. With him. Red eyes lit up, a smile gradually forming. He then brought the hood down, briefly running his fingers through his hair to fluff it out.
He then took a deep breath before finally saying, "...Alright. Cool."
quirkhearted·:
Alright. He was free. Still, that revelation didn’t do much to lessen the nagging anxiety. Sure, it seemed like just the right thing to ask about. With how well they’d been training together, Tenko getting the chance to rid himself of some long-held-onto tension. Especially with Keigo now working under Taishiro’s Agency with the HPSC now disbanded (with a certain plague doctor watching their every move as they gradually rebuild).
“Uh, good to know. Anyway…” Arms folded over his chest, fingertips tapping against his upper-arms, scarlet eyes averted. “Been thinking, that since you’re with ‘Shiro’s Agency now, and since we’ve been training together… you’d maybe… wanna make a search and rescue team? With me?” Okay, he’d said it. Now to wait in terrified silence…
Habits truly died hard–proof enough in the way his mind began to race to cobble together some script for each possible discussion Tenko could bring. He wasn’t meshing well with the others at the agency ( not true, the others would definitely complain more; Touya and Shinsou certainly had no reservations speaking their minds- ), Tenko found a new game they might want to play ( sure, he’d clear his schedule, pick a day! Though…he hadn’t heard any news about any Tenko was particularly stoked about- ), things weren’t working out, Tenko found something or another to put distance between them again ( what happened, what did he do, he can FIX this–but…he would have noticed something was off, right? Or- )–fuck, Tenko felt a little nervous too. Was it a really big deal? Hopefully it was–
“T…team?!” –one of the best possible outcomes. Even if his brain somehow hadn’t been able to pull together anything coherent enough to easily answer, especially not as eloquently as he would have liked. Maybe it was the surprise, or maybe the aftermath of his embarrassing collision but–
“A-are you sure?!” No–he was. Tenko never did anything without thinking it over thoroughly. More so, Tenko had never once taken choosing him for any reason lightly either-
“I–yeah, y-yeah, I’m down!” Something to give him a more secure sense of purpose, working with the very person he was so fond of–and someone he found worked so well WITH him, with how well they came to know each other’s techniques, their ways of thinking, the potentials of their Quirks in tandem, every little thing to make for a sound co-op– “That’s–good! Cool, cool, cool-”

Now, despite the blushy reaction she gets each time she calls him “kitten”, cuttlefish just might be just as valid. “To be honest... you’re free to call me that. It’s kinda cute.” He’s down for pretty much any sea creature nickname.

Fat Gum's gonna watch Shinsou a little before letting out a bit of a fond sigh. While he should probably wake him and make sure he got to a better place to sleep...ah, the kid's been working real hard lately. He needed all the rest he could get. As such, he'll take off his hoodie very carefully drape it over the young hero before heading off on his merry way. ~@xiindomitable (Did it for that sweet Treasure Planet reference jjfsh)
My muse has fallen asleep somewhere that isn’t their bed. what does your muse do ♡ @xiindomitable ♡ Accepting
Even with the others already back at their homes and after Toga trying to talk him out of staying back, here he was, still at the Agency. He’d seen Fat Gum had some leftover paperwork to categorize and sort, so... why not make himself useful and complete it for him? Since he was off hero duties for quite a while, there was a strong desire to make himself as useful as possible. Maybe he’d gone overboard and wound up overworking himself, leading to him falling asleep in the Agency’s meeting room. but at least he’d done something other than stress over what hero society as a whole thought of him. It was a great distraction, too. Plus, Fat Gum might be proud of him for getting all of this work done. Anything to make sure he was seen as... good in Fat Gum’s eyes.
He shifted slightly at the sudden feeling of the hoodie being laid over him, but didn’t wake at the sensation. Honestly, it felt way better than having nothing covering him.

The slight quiver in her voice- He knew that all too well. Coming from his own voice. Such a pathetic, childish, and weak sound. Unworthy of consolation. Shame tore through him whenever his voice dared to make such a error. It needed patched, desperately. Yet that pesky bug persisted, regardless of how many version updates had occurred (more like forcefully installed). Expecting the angry berating that would come the moment whomever he was with would notice it... even though now, it never came.
But when it came from her? The urge was strong, the urge to go over and ease her anxieties, like she'd done for him time and time again. Now wasn't the time for that. He forced his hands to relax, letting them hang limply at his sides, back straightening, eyes focused solely on her. Not to intently scan over her expressions or anything malevolent. Just to... let her know he was listening and taking every last bit of what she told him seriously. Too long had he ran from things that scared him. Avoided them. Now. Now, it was time for a counter. A chance to take the next step forward, hopefully a positive one. But he didn't have his hopes up. She could reject him, and they could walk away. Honestly, though? He'd be fine with that. Knowing she was putting her own comfort over his own selfish desires. Was that even the right phrasing...?
There was a minuscule break in his stoicism, though. Eyes widening a slight. Friends? Maybe. So she did want things to end up going well in the end, regardless of outcome. Amicable.
Oh. Oh. He hated this. Being reminded of what he did wrong. Cold, icy. Claws digging into his heart and tearing. Shoulders hunching, gaze ever so slightly looking away, hands going right back into fists. Yet if that'd be what it's take for them to work through this... it was discomfort he was willing to trudge through.
A deep (albeit slightly shaky) breath, forcing his body to straighten and relax once more.
"I know." He'd done wrong, so terribly wrong by her. He'd ran it over repeatedly in his head, lying awake at night, but no matter what he said or did, it all turned out the same. Him leaving her alone, with nothing to cling onto. Cruel. Unforgivable. Villainous-
A pressure cooker, that was what his nerves were like, intensity always increasing whenever he made the trip over to her home. Dreading it. Dreading even having to see the imposing figure of her father. Voice always clipped whenever the man addressed him, hyper-aware of his presence in the house. No wonder his skin crawled so much there... Unbearable. Thank goodness for the gloves or Fuyumi unknowingly distracting him.
It was all too familiar- The house, the man in it, the itch.
There was no way he'd be able to divulge such sensitive info to her now as a reason why. So out in the open, nothing to ground himself.
Never would he ever understand how someone so horrible like Endeavor could have someone who was the complete opposite as a daughter. Could he understand why she'd still want to have her father in her life? Somewhat, yes. She'd told him before she just wanted things to be better for her whole family, for them to be a family again. From what he'd been able to infer, that man left a harsh mark on his family. A mark that wouldn't be fading anytime soon. Something Tenko himself had equal experience with. Still, he couldn't help but respect and even admire her strong willingness to repair her family. That much had solidified in his head.
But… there was another sharp concern that'd gradually sunk deeper and deeper up once he'd pushed the previous one to the back of his mind. What would Endeavor think of someone like him with a Quirk like his being involved with his daughter? The man had a reputation and influence, so who knows what someone so high up in the world would think?
"N-No. You... you didn't do anything wrong. Hard to believe, I know, but, it's true-" Damnit, he was starting to talk too fast. Eyes slightly wide as he did his best to assuage her worries. So much for trying to keep himself composed.
Again, he took a moment. A breath, two, body gradually easing.
"...You could never hurt me. It's all on me. I was the one who left you like that. That'd make.. anyone wonder if they'd done anything wrong." Voice was a tad steadier, thought put into each and every word. "But... it's something to do with my own family. N-Not my current one! My... biological... family, and how yours reminds me of them. That, and my own stupid thoughts about what your family thought of me being with you, if they... approved of me, I guess." Gaze gradually left hers, body folding in on itself, hair covering his eyes. Thankfully, fingers moved to tangle in loose strands of snowy-white.

He knew Taishiro asked him purely out of concern, that was the only reason why. Yet did he feel a cold chill race up his spine as well his heart jolting in his chest? Yes. He knew he hadn’t done anything wrong by coming back to the Agency hurt. But he’d be lying if hadn’t instantly detected an angry tone in the others voice, or at least imagined one. Causing him to freeze on his way past the other hero, eyes wide and a hand beginning to lightly scratch at the fabric covering his upper chest. Hey, at least it wasn't his neck. He didn’t dare turn to face him, it was like his head was locked in looking ahead. Throat felt somewhat dry, so it took him a few attempts to speak. Voice soft, he finally managed to get out, “Just... just some villains. Nothing more.” Definitely not people taking it upon themselves to deny his help by attacking him. Nope, not at all.

Questions were still swarming his head, attacking like a bullet hell. Wondering just how on earth he could be in any way appealing (yep, that was the right word) to her. He was her exact opposite, and it was jarring how they'd still managed to get on well for this long. Surely, she would've gotten annoyed by his "playing it safe" approach after a single team-up? But, no, they'd worked together surprisingly well. Her, vanquishing opponents with ease and encouraging him to be more confident in his abilities. Him, forming strategies that would close up the mission the swiftest and acting as the ice to her fire.
"N-No! Not at all" Well, that got him facing her again, eyes slightly wide. Oh. Oh. Talk about a hard-hitting realization. She rarely ever said things she didn't mean, which clearly entailed... She one-hundred-percent meant what she'd previously said.
That got him looking down, hair concealing his face like a curtain. Well, she'd said she'd detail it, and he was desperate for clarification, so... He nodded. "Yeah. Detail it."
quirkhearted·:
Oop, maybe this was a mistake… Well, to be fair, he did give off a “strong silent type” vibe before others actually got to know him. That had to count for something! Not exactly bad boy, but maybe, just maybe… he wanted to be seen as… appealing? To her? Was that the right word? Meh, who knows, because he sure didn’t.
Wait. Wait, what? And just like that, he was proving her right via a blush coloring his cheeks, gaze quickly averting with arms folding over his chest. “You can’t be serious about that.” Even if she was joking, a flurry of questions were swirling around in his head. Since when, how, why?
Oh…OH, it worked out so well! Look at him, all blushy and so damn CUTE! The fact that he had actually been hoping to prove himself a fit for her supposed standards from the start was one thing, but holy shit, he somehow managed to top how endearing she found that with THIS-
“Aw, don’t tell me you really figure me to be the type to spout things I don’t mean, Wither!” She let out a laugh, crossing her arms too, as she cocked her hips. “Well, I did, thank you very much. Every word I just said. Want me to say it again? Or detail it for ya? Cuz I will~”
