s6 so far is leaning so much into absurdity i kinda love it. it feels very self aware, the show knows that the mysteries are ridiculous, it's ridiculous that mulder and scully are still dancing their will-they-won't-they and at this far in has decided to embrace it. every 10 minutes people are loudly asking them why they haven't got together and making them talk about romantic feelings under the flimsy guise of romantic advice giving them a reason to wax soliloquys about their hypothetic one true love. mulder and scully themselves are aware and just sitting on it because it's too dangerous to do otherwise. there is an elephant in the room and it's their big fat crushes on each other that they're pointedly ignoring because part of the show's premise hinges on them not doing anything about it.
#but they are leaning more into romantic gestures like touching hands more often which makes me think they could be setting something up#or not. die.#i think the tonal shift works well with the filming location switch to southern california. it's embracing change without betraying itself#makes me worried for the finale/alien eps tho. like if they're THIS CLOSE then something has to happen return to the normal to reset it#kinda like how they're being insane for each other and realising it and still refusing to anything about it#it speaks to me on a certain level#triangle AND the rain king within the same 5 eps i used to wish for days like these#xfiles

Kamloops wouldn't be our first choice for a holiday, but as a stopover location it is practical. Kamloops is a mining town; copper and gold, with the largest open cast mine operation in Canada just 30km out of town, and underground mining in town. Logging and sawmills seem popular here too. Kamloops is expanding apparently with people from Vancouver; now 115,000 population with many first nation folk living here. We were collected from our hotels yawningly early at 7.10am; required to leave suitcases in the room to be transferred by road to our hotels in Vancouver. Hopefully. A 22 coach train does not fit well into a standard station platform so we were delivered to the extended train parked in the Rocky Mountaineer depot at one side of the marshalling yards. Yards that are filling up with freight containers, stacking due to the freight operator strike. This eased our passage to Vancouver since we didn't need to pull into sidings so often to allow freight to pass. The journey began by crossing the Thompson River, through downtown with the smokestack of the pulp mill pluming upwards on the edge of town, moved by popular demand away from housing due to the smell.
The landscape was gradually changing to semi-arid desert like conditions, sun bleached hillsides and pastures: home to bald eagles, ospreys and long horn sheep. The temperature today was predicted to hit 35° which would be ideal for its growing wine industry. The baron landscape has been the setting for XFiles, The A Team, Battlestar Galactica and no doubt many more films and TV shows. As the train snaked its way along the course of the Thompson River we spotted bald eagle and osprey nests, some of the latter being up to 100 years old mainly built on manmade structures. Parent ospreys must from time to time have the conversation; one day son, all this will be yours! This is a big country, the home of ballads such as crooned by the likes of John Denver, Cowboy and Indian films, Luis Armstrong wafting over the sound system singing Wonderful World seemed to sum up the general feeling.
Thompson River soon merged with Fraser River just before lunch. The Fraser soon to be busy with salmon. The topography changing now reverting to pine forest and mountains as we headed south towards Hope and Vancouver.
It is a thing most strange that we have travelled hundreds of miles into the Rockies without meeting any English people until boarding the Rocky Mountaineer. Now all on our carriage are English or occasionally Scottish, all Radio 4 of an age. Is it only the Anglo Saxons that appreciate the permanent way? We are all practically on Christmas card terms by now, but of course all that will be forgotten by December.
The train seemed to pick up speed by the time we reached Hope where we were a fortnight ago. We were travelling a good 50mph towards Vancouver. I think the driver needed to be home by tea time. Then he really put his foot down.
And so it was we finally made it into Vancouver crossing the swing bridge. It was a very agreeable way of returning to the great metropolis of the city.
Remarkably, we were able to step off the train and onto a waiting coach which was able to take us directly to our hotel for the following two nights. What was even more remarkable, our suitcases actually made it to the coach!
We have a couple of days to enjoy ourselves in Vancouver before travelling home on Wednesday. Well didn't that go quickly.

I've spent the last week in Vancouver. Every trip here requires a few XF related stops, and watching the sunset at Cate's Park was perfection. I'll share more soon!

First mini Road trip of the Summer!!!
Today I kicked off my ambitious summer photography project!
I went to Britannia Mine a closed down tunnel mine on the BC coast that has said to be haunted and of course Supernatural has filmed there :)
(There have also been a few other shows such as the X-files, and the 100 to name a few that have filmed here).
It is completely shut down but it still gives tours and is a tourist hot spot.
Wendigo (s1e2) was filmed here at Britannia mine...(Awe baby Sam...)
While I’m not going to post my photos on here (as said they are for my project) the first two on this post are mine, 3rd is obviously just screen shots from spn to give you an idea of the location.
Many more interesting and fun ghost towns and locations will be explored this summer. Don’t worry y’all I packed my salt!

David Duchovny concert Vancouver
Because I have several asks about the concert and if I agree with the bad review of his concert which came out.
The location: the imperial itself was a fine venue and perfect the concert. Where the venue was located is another topic. As one person said: getting through the local wildlife to be there is another thing. This part of the city isn't one I felt completely save to walk around.
The Meet&Greet: I have been to a meet and greet before in Paris and Vancouver couldn't even get close to that experience. The Vancouver meet and greet for 95% of the people was basically hi: what's your name? How are you? -Picture- I hope you enjoy the concert! Bye
I don't blame David for that but Brad because squeezing in around 100ppl in a short time is nuts. I heard several ppl who were quite underwhelmed by the meet and greet experience and I have to say they are right. Paying 150$ for basically 1minute is ridiculous. Further no singing or anything else was allowed.
So basically Brad is milking the meet and greet and I doubt he cares much about Davids fans as long as the cash flies in.
David still was sweet and smiling. And for the ones bold enough to ask he signed some Bucky books.
The concert: it started 30minutes late for what reason I have no idea. David came on stage performed new, old and cover songs. Heroes was one of my favorite this evening.
But I have to admit that this concert wasn't one of his best in my opinion. He seemed tired and the energy wasn't there. He didn't interact with the audience as much as we are used to. A reason for that could have been that he couldn't come as close as normally because of the hallway between the stage and the audience. The hallway was for the camera stuff to walk up and down and film for the documentary DVD. He clung a lot to his mic stand and the dancing was down to a minimum. For people who have seen his before Vancouver the difference was visible.
Still the experience of the concert was great because I got to share it with an awesome bunch of people. @ccoble and @xfile-cabinetx thank you for all the laughs and fun @kateyes224 it's always awesome to spent time with you and sing along @mangokiwitropicalswirl I'm not afraid of you anymore 😂😉 you are awesome and fun and it was great meeting you! @whatfallsaway &jen thanks for the most memorable walk home and also it was a blast meeting you and chatting till 2am 😂
So all in all you don't go to a David concert for the exceptional singing. Therefore you have Adele etc.
You go there to meet up with people to share the fun, sing and dance along. You go there and you have a good time because Davids sense of humor is fun his dad-dances moves are entertaining and you will enjoy it because he himself enjoys it too. He is far from perfect but that makes it even better for me, makes it more real and more vulnerable.

holy crap!
Found xfiles filming, there was a gate with a 3FP sign and security guards standing at end of driveway, so we turned on next road, found railroad and walked it, ONTO set location...BUT people with flashlights heard us so we stopped for 15 min, cars sfarted leaving, actually HEARD Gillian yell "hey!" to security people on way out, waited a few more minutes, then all was clear, scoped site then when we were done walked down driveway vs railroad tracks, i took a pic right after my friend warned me there was a security car...it showed in pic i didnt realize at time! i acted like u was clueless as security car kept flashing lights at us as we walked up to it to get out of driveway and i said "why the hell are you flashing lights at us?!" like i was pissed. then i asked why he was there, he said he was hired. friend said we were just wanderinf on traintracks and founf driveway to walk to road. the sign that said 3FP was sitting inside locked gate now, not outside like it was moments ago, i said "whats this for?" as i was groping it and he replied "oh dont worry about that just leave it". he helped us get OFF the filming scene by unlocking gate.....We drove back by later and he was still there, so was hired to stay all night meaning filming was continuing next day and since there was a house back there they probably needed security. all around, AMAZING week with several pics, "souvenirs" ;) etc.....ahhhhh im content now :)

"I don’t think Xfiles is still a priority for them" Are you serious? If this was a case they would never start negotiations for the first place. They're not stupid and know that it'd take 5 or so months of their life. And David was always eager to do more, he doesn't have issues with FOX, His career in tv is over, he does only xfiles. So for him is easier. But Gillian was so excited for doing more and I am sure she still is but FOX has to give her want she need to make this season 11 happen!
Sorry, anon but I disagree. How can you tell David’s career as an actor is over? He could have other projects in discussion to, Aquarius could come back on another network, you have no idea what he’s up to. He was, indeed, eager to do more, just as he’s eager to do more Aquarius if it’s possible. I don’t know where or when you saw Gillian was excited to do more. She was happy to work with David again, that’s what she said, I guess she was happy to work with everyone again, but I’m sure if she has to choose between xfiles or adapting her book on tv or doing another series of The Fall, we both know what she’ll choose.
It’s not only a matter of Fox having to give her what she wants. Negotiations are not only in one way. It’s not just the network who have to give everything to the actors so they’re happy and do what they’re told. It’s also a matter of actors choosing projects that suits them, that they like and want to do, it’s a matter of location, number of episodes, period of filming, scripts, etc. For now, Gillian has showed very little enthusiasm to do another season, and I don’t think it’s only because of her negotiations. It’s also because she can do so many other more interesting projects, with writers and directors who can give her better material to work with as an actress, in locations that don’t take her away from her kids for 5 months or so.
If they find an agreement, and I’m sure they will, I believe it’ll be the last time (so it’d better be good!) and I don’t think they’ll do it for artistic reasons and I don’t blame them.
I’ve always said we wouldn’t have any real answer before the next Upfronts in May, and that’s what I still think, so let’s just wait and see. Maybe there’s hope.

Best Tv Shows All Time
'Lost' 2004-10
A cosmic mystery vacation so complicated no one has ever quite figured it all out a band of castaways trapped on an island after the crash of Oceanic Flight 815, with a smoke monster and the enigmatic group called the The Others, multiple time-lines, the Seventies back-story of the Dharma Initiative, each episode crammed with clues to be argued over for years to come. Lost proved there was a wide audience around who desired their TV to be more unpredictable and difficult, not less – and Television would never be the same.
youtube
Show Third Watch
'Friday Night Lights' 200611
"Clear eyes, total hearts, can't drop" is the golden rule in a dusty Texas city where everyone lives and dies for the large school football staff. But Friday Night Lights is not actually about football s O much as family, function, course, the bitter taste of dashed dreams, with Kyle Chandler as Mentor Taylor, Connie Britton as wife Tami and Taylor Kitsch as Tim Riggins – the most most notable of the many vulnerable kids who go through the Panthers' locker-room. Riggins' story becomes especially moving after his gridiron glory fades and real existence beats him down.
youtube
'Louie' 2010-Present
Louis C.K.'s stubbornly auteurist FX sit com does not look or sense like anything else on TV – he writes, directs and stars as himself, a single-dad stand-up comic in New York. If Louie wants to display himself in the automobile air-drumming to "Who Are You?" and mortifying his daughters, he goes for this. If he wants to abandon the half hour comedy format entirely for an extended indie-film vibe with Charles Grodin and Ellen Burstyn, he does that too. Louis C.K. May disappear into his own head for whole seasons, however he hits totally authentic emotional peaks such as the one when he travels to Miami and accidentally makes a buddy that is male. (No, it does not last.)
youtube
'The X Files' 1993 2002, 2016
Oh, the Nineties – when our scariest worry regarding the the federal government was its plot to mask alien abductions. Chris Carter created an entire sci-fi mythology with The Xfiles. All the sinister conspiracies in the universe are not as tough as the faithful bond between two FBI brokers: David Duchovny's Mulder (he wanted to think) and Gillian Anderson's Scully (she didn't). X-Files invented a new kind of TV fan for the online-message-board era, alternating between "monster of the week" and the overall arc, but usually throwing in geek particulars for the hardcore devotees. And their archenemy: the Smoking Guy, William B. To rigging the Super Bowl, Davis, the marvelously evil bureaucrat in the shadows of every conspiracy from the JFK assassination.
youtube
'The West Wing' 1999 2006
Aaron Sorkin gave America the leader we didn't really deserve in Martin Sheen President Jed Bartlet, a high toned Catholic professor from New Hampshire. Premiering in the fall of 1999, The West Wing performed just like a Bubba-period fantasy of how the political future would seem (like when the Democrats had a little more courage, or if the Republicans had a theory or two) that soon turned out to be utterly out of step with all the Bush-Cheney years. But Sorkin's trademark rapid-fire dialogue along with the Bartlet administration's idealism made this a parallel-universe that was a welcome.
youtube
'Star Trek' 196669
The Star-Ship Business took off with a five-year mission: "To discover odd new worlds, to to locate new existence and new civilizations," and it succeeded in creating the most beloved of sci fi franchises, maybe not just inspiring countless spin-offs but also codifying fan fiction as a creative art form. Gene Roddenberry's unique sequence remains the the inspiration, with William Shatner's awesomely pulpy Capt. Kirk, Leonard Nimoy's logical Mr. Spock, Bones, Sulu, Uhura and Scotty. They speak to bizarre and inexplicable lifeforms – Romulans, Gorns, Joan Collins. During its three years, Star-Trek endured low ratings till NBC pulled the plug, but thanks to the most doggedly faithful of Television cults (re-member when "Trekkie" was an insult?), Roddenberry's vision lives long and prospers for this day.
youtube
'Law & Order' 1990 2010
Dick Wolf's long-, long-, long-working procedural produced its own formulation – gruesomely violent crimes ripped from the headlines, clock-punching cops, idealistic lawyers, stern judges who bang the gavel and say "I Will allow it," each character a different cog in the crime-solving device until the trial scene at the conclusion. Every one of its different incarnations, from Briscoe and Logan to Benson and Stabler , just proved exactly what a rich formulation it was, not to mention an opportunity for for many NYC actors to get their first real taste of catering.
youtube
'The Daily Show' 1996-Present
The fa Ke news display that became more credible compared to the real news. Comedy Central began The Daily Display in 1996, when Jon Stewart took over in 1999, but it hit its stride. The Everyday Present got more politically abrasive as the news got progressively worse. Stewart had the rage of a man who'd signed on at the conclusion of the Bill Clinton years, only to end up with an America much more scary and more ugly for, and also the anger showed. "It is a a comic box lined with unhappiness," he informed Rolling Stone in 2006. While the franchise struggles on without him, Samantha Bee and Everyday alumni John Oliver keep that hard-hitting spirit on their own shows.
youtube
'Sesame Street' 1969-Present
No kiddie show h AS ever been as fiercely beloved as this city utopian fantasy, set in a brownstone neighborhood populated with a multi-racial forged of smiling adults, a gigantic yellow bird, a grouch in a garbage can, and math-loving vampires, plus many talking letters and figures. It h-AS fantastic tracks, but most crucial, Sesame h-AS soul, which is why the air has stayed sweet for 40 years – or as the Count would say, 4-5! 46! 47 years!
