Newly discovered xelfi official art!

So apparently in this book (looks to be a Slayers databook with additional information and stats. Them in character with the little bubble text for Valgaav and Xellos. Think Valgaav is annoyed Xellos took his spot for the last page of the book. Interestingly enough Filia had the first page. My little backstory for the scanned picture on the front and back cover with them looks like they were hanging out together and Filia had to spin around to take the sudden picture. Xellos being all chill, off to the side~ As the original poster mentioned, book is even in xellos' color with Filia on the cover. Kind of reminds me of the packaging for their couple-ish figure that was released.

Third pic has gourry and lina saying/thinking about Filia and xellos. Or it comes off that way anyway xD In one of the character speech bubbles - Filia is quite upset that Xellos kissed Lina on the cheek. Then he is commenting about something in regards to that ghostly jar 🤣

Official art from the 'Slayers Digital Collection Series'. Love how in the first picture it seems to a parody of the sentai genre. Power Rangers for western fans. Find it interesting how Filia and Xellos are on the same side versus the heroes~ Godzilla filia and evil dark ranger Xellos. I'm sure series and novel Xellos would have enjoyed an active partner in chaos like what is shown here. Ah for those AU story ideas~ ♥

Then with the 2nd image - how all the traditional pairings are standing close together and of course the Modern day setup with them 💗 Then their is Valgaav with his gang but hey, still mourning the 'boss' Gaav.

So from what I understand their was a popularity poll during this time with the Slayers characters or maybe the heroines in particular and Filia actually beat Lina! o_o Yet on the Lina side says MVP so idk xD lol funny illustration of even Xellos giving another medal to Filia~ Would like to say it's Xelfi related but apparently he's still holding a grudge from Lina stepping on his face 🤣 Do like the detail of Xellos giving her a pink ribboned medal (which is her favorite color ♥)

~Slayers TRY Ep.25 thoughts~

Had a rewatch of this episode and it does reinforce a vital revelation with Xelfi. Despite how it started at the beginning of the season. Filia's hate for Xellos is confirmed to not be present by the end of the season. Valgaav confronts Filia with asking her pointedly who she hates the most. Says, she "doesn't hate anyone". Then we get a pan shot to Xellos watching and listening to what is unfolding. My personal take is that he is very much like a wolf poised to attack if he makes a move on Filia. She has left herself vulnerable being so close to Valgaav in the hopes to reason with him.

Another thing to note is that once emotions are charged and Filia yells at Valgaav, he is powering up and seems like Xellos is that much more closer to Valgaav, poised to attack. Another example of Xellos' ambiguous moments of protecting Filia?

This whole scene cements the theme of TRY. Xellos and Filia have shown this throughout the season. Representing the opposing sides that have been embroiled in constant conflicts since they were created. Xellos and Filia's banter and interaction giving further proof of this. Reminds me of generational prejudice. Their superiors told them they should feel this way so they need to do it without question. Xellos giving proof of this from his reaction. Afraid of allowing himself to contemplate this thought since it would go against what the Mazoku and Gods believe to be the LoN's designs. Xellos is a curious entity with wanting information and secrets. Both for his missions and most likely himself - feel he had contemplated why they fought but in those instances had to shut it down immediately. - One; He is a soldier made to fight Dragons (servants of the gods) in the past war. Would be seen as treason to even reason if it was worth it or the point of continuing. (With Xelfi lenses, can't help but think with his complicated interactions with Filia, may have caused more questions to come about. To which he must bury) - Two; most likely he has a mental link with Beastmaster Zelas and would be on edge if she caught the scent of him having doubts. (We aren't sure about her personality with questioning the 'trap' they are in. Think she would be more curious about going against the grain with the pattern. Mazoku's are prideful creatures. It solidifies their existence in the knowledge they are powerful, doing what they can on their terms. Xellos' mission was to in fact save the world because they wanted the pride to end their world for themselves. Not having anyone steal that pleasure/honor. Same with Xellos scolding the remnant of ruby eyes when it was just a ghost of itself.

This shows the effect of what transpired in TRY has lingered and influenced the mazoku's race. They still aim for chaos and destruction because that is their nature. The key is having free will in doing so. The race has always been particular in how they want their ends met but with Valgaav's revelations - believe the Dark lords and Xellos want to make sure they are not behaving like pawns in the grand scheme. To still do things on their timetable in the ways that suit them best. This was present in Try with his orders to save the world but that freedom was reinforced going forward in the series.

Valgaav's union with fusing his existence with both a god and dark lord, showed their could be understanding despite the different races. (all created by the Lord Of Nightmares afterall) Xellos initially rejecting the idea since too much to handle with an existential crisis in the middle of this end of the world crisis lol

Had a rewatch of Slayers revolution and thought some xelfi fans might enjoy xD Thought of an amusing parallel with xellos. In Slayers Evolution-R ep. 6: Lina and the group were attacked by two mazoku that xellos hasn't met but he behaves EXACTLY like filia in this instance. Setting up the table and wanting to have tea. Completely unbothered by the destruction around him. Then Filia often did the same. Often using drinking tea as her coping mechanism. Can't help but think he picked up more of her mannerisms even though he did already love tea. Might be a testament to his time spent with her off screen ♥
