“I’m sure you’ve heard this a lot tonight, but” River started with a smile, feeling complete with a cup of spiced wine in hand. “youve really stole the show with this look. What inspired it? Your familiar?”

The vegetable stew wasn’t much, but it was a start. While the eerie coast line of the inner underworld became aligned with a scattered series of small camp fires, Snow was just grateful he’d had hindsight to cook up this humble recipe beforehand. The smell of eggs burning wasn’t doing any favors while ash still swirled around them.
Remarkably, each boat had landed with all party members accounted for. Theirs remained the first, leaving Snow to wonder for hours if he’d ever see familiar, friendly faces again. It was some sort of miracle. No question about that.
Spoon scraping the last bites worth of stew, Snow stared out across the river and lost himself for a moment. Until Credence returned to their own camp circle. “... How’s he doin’?”

“Where were you?” Jude asked after a long spell of quiet within the previously empty room. It must have been a living space, once, but now, well, it felt like a grave. No home had ever left him with such a terrible image. The chores had been done, everyone was sat to rest, now only sleep or talk could carry Jude now. And he didn’t want to sleep. Not that he even could after what he’d just faced and survived. “Your rain... ‘could have used it when all that shit started.” His tone didn’t give the impression of anger or spite, more curiosity. As if he was missing something.

“So... has this folky music grown on you since moving here?” The hour was late, which lent to a small sense of boredom. Grimacing, River finally asks the question that had been on his mind all evening. “There are some modern songs I am happy we’ll never hear again, but... still...”

“‘sorry I wasn’t fast enough.” Snow muttered, vaguely, still getting his footing after the other nights action. He’d spotted Credence outside of the banquet hall after breakfast, and finally gained some courage to approach the mage. Sort of. “When you got hit. ... I mean... It’s not all bad, right? Your magic... it was fucking bad ass.”

“You crossed the line with Vik, right? What was it like?” Snow pried, only a little bit bummed to have missed out on the experience of infiltrating.
